Summary: After an unfortunate visit with Shanks, Mihawk just wants to go home. But that just means he gets an unfortunate encounter with Garp instead. It may end up being to the benefit of him just yet.
~~~~~
This was inspired by Garp and Mihawk's interaction in the live action show. The way they speak so easily with each other makes it seem like there's some history between them as vice admiral and warlord. I don't see much content with them, so I'm curious what everyone thinks about it, and those two with their dynamic in the show.
the way that one line from the new epilogue in an astarion romance is going to HAUNT me
just. what a profoundly intense thing to confess to someone.
like, just these six months of newfound happiness with you exerts a force on his heart equal and in direct opposition to two centuries of endless torment, the gnawing hunger and exploitation. this flashbulb-bright fraction of his long life holds the same gravity to him as years upon years of darkness and suffering.
in all likelihood, he hasn’t even known his lover for as long as his worst memory lasted, that year sealed away to go mad from starvation and sensory deprivation, yet he still tells them this brief time has been so fundamentally and powerfully important that the weight of even that unimaginable hell is vanishingly small compared to this present he has now and the future ahead of them both.
how am i supposed to act normal about this.
Danny: Hello, I'm here for my job interview-
Alfred: You're hired.
Danny: But I didn't even say what position I was-
Alfred: You are Danny Fenton, nineteen years old, blood type AB, Libra. You are here to apply for the personal assistant position under Timothy Drake. You have five years of experience as a receptionist and a personal planner and have been unofficially bookkeeper for your parent's company since you were twelve. You dabble in fanfiction, go clubbing at Vortex- the gay club downtown, and have been one of the few people who yelled at people online for "Countdown to Legal Age" of both Master Dick and Master Tim.
Danny: .....I'm a little scared right now.
Alfred: That's to be expected. You will fit right in. Master Tim enjoys the smell of fear on his employees.
Danny: You were in the army, weren't you?
Alfred grinning: I read that your mother's family are also veterans. Your mother grew up in bases; did she not?
Danny nods: Yes, they are. This is like visiting family.
Alfred: With the proper attitude, you may become family in due time!
Danny mentally: Is he....trying to get me to marry Mr. Drake???
Jack and Maddie Fenton got in trouble with CPS after Danny's accident. The portal was shut down, Vlad was deemed mentally unfit to adopt, and Danny and Jazz were adopted by a kind farming couple in Kansas.
Danny and Jazz kept Danny's powers a secret from the Kents, as the Anti-Ecto Acts were still in effect (they were one of the first laws abolished with the initiation of Meta Rights) and they didn't expect a farmer couple to readily accept a superpowered teen.
Then Clark crashed into their life.
Danny loved being a big brother, and when Clark started showing powers? Danny refused to let him think he was alone.
Clark was taught how to fly from his big brother Danny. Clark was taught strength control and how to control his power from Danny.
Danny ended up being Smallville's local Engineer, giving up going to college so that Clark could go. Farming didn't pay a lot, and they'd only saved up for one kid, really. Danny couldn't get a scholarship, his grades weren't good enough. Jazz did get a scholarship, so he didn't have to worry about her.
So Danny stays on the farm, inventing a million odd little things until the Kent farm is the best defended farm in the world.
And Clark...Clark feels guilty. He feels like he robbed his big brother's chance at higher education.
Then Clark meets Batman.
Batman, who is Bruce Wayne's sugar baby.
Bruce Wayne, who has a lot of grants and scholarships to get people into college.
Batman stops Superman mid-pitch and leaves, only to return with Green Arrow.
"No Supers allowed in Gotham, talk to Green Arrow about grants."
