Okay, so, anyone who knows me knows what a huge fan I am of @canisalbus and their gay dogs. For those not in the know, please go check them out!
So, as many of you know, the fantastic RoobrikMarine wrote a phenomenal fic called Separation. Me and Jack read this. We pondered. We had Gay Dog Feelings. And then we went, well, it's about time we actually collaborated on something.
So, anyway. The phenomenally skilled @jackshvck is responsible for the foreground here, and I (RubiconArt) have done the background! It was a lot of fun, and I maaaaay have slipped in a little more symbolism than the fic actually said was in that painting but, well, y'know. Don't worry about it!
Anyway, here is our little Christmas present to you, CanisAlbus, we really do hope you like it!
Under the cut are the full version of the painting and of Jack's part too! I recommend opening it in a new image to see the details properly.
(canis, if you'd like the full size image of this it's 11k x 8k so I would have to email it to you, but you're welcome to it!)

I'm not much of a painter, but sometimes you read a fanfiction that's so good, art comes out.
Miserable Catholic Hound (and his Roommate) by @canisalbus, amazing fanfic by RoobrickMarine on ao3.

“he also employs a very competent personal doctor” - does this doctor have a name, or breed, or perhaps reference pictures? I would like to know… for reasons, lol!
Doctor Matteo Frosini, I imagine him as a fiftysomething Bracco Italiano from Florence. He has a dignified and collected look to him, but he can be surprisingly jovial and good-natured as well. Above all he's pragmatic, confident in his abilities and unflappable in a time of crisis.
