was fucking around on google images and i ended up stumbling on a reddit post from three yrs ago with a picture of iroh grabbing azula during a fight scene...
Tumblr media
this is the only time i can think of when azula seems completely terrified.
Tumblr media
he grabs her and she's scared shitless
Tumblr media
but he just redirects her lightning and she's just bewildered.
i wonder what she was thinking there

have we ever thought abt the fact that zuko is literally azula's older brother. like she's his little sister. that's his little sister. throughout a big, big part of atla plot, he was actively running away, scared of his little sister killing him because he KNEW she would/could. can you imagine that? your little sibling, wanting more your father's approval than your companionship to the point of death? every time they fought, zuko was fighting his baby sister. azula was fighting her big brother. this is making me so sick. they were 16 and 14 years old.

God forbid when aang has emotions and act like his age, like seriously I can't with people. Like I'm sorry, a lot of you assume people that defend aang thought he's perfect that could never do anything wrong, like no bitch I love him DESPITE his flaw, because guess what?? When he act childish, and or do anything wrong in the show, his ACTION HAS CONSEQUENCES. and ya know what else?? DESPITE EVERYTHING HE'S STILL A VERY COMPASSIONATE CHARACTER WITH HEARTS AND LOVE SO BIG FOR THE WORLD THAT DONE NOTHING BUT GAVE HIM SO MUCH PAIN AND SUFFERING.
You people keep nick picking every single thing he had done as if it's the crime against humanity, it's not him who commit genocide and colonialism in the show now isn't!? I'm sick and tired many of y'all act like he's one dimensional as well. HE HAS DEPTH, WE LITERALLY WATCH THE SAME SHOW!?
Come on man, it's almost two decades of this same thing, I'm so tired, leave my boy alone for fuck sake oh my god

autism wins again, teen ozai redesign

I can’t find the exact outfit I referenced, but it looked something like this? Just, a lighter blue and the shoulders looked like the one in the drawing.
Tumblr media
It’s not exactly accurate, I will admit, it’s just that I wished to give his outfit more of a fire nation, martial culture tone

niche royal family hc to explain why zukos hair goes thru such a dramatic transformation in under a year is bc the royal family has absurdly fast growing hair that comes in THICK as hell. and thats not just limited to head hair- they get dark arm hair and leg hair, bushy eyebrows, and long, dark, full eyelashes. Just a hairy ass family

finished watching netflix atla! i think the hate is unjustified lol like all that hate seems a little too intense for what i think the show missed. it didn't hit all the same notes as the original show, yeah, so i'm not sure it quite succeeds as an adaptation, but as a standalone show it's pretty good. and i might have some gripes with the characterization, but there was love in the casting and in the costumes and the world, and that goes a long way for me.

I love the soundtrack for the last Agni Kai because it's not epic, it's tragic. Most shows would make an epic soundtrack for one of the final battles that were the key for victory, but not ATLA. It shows that Zuko's victory isn't really something to be celebrated (though the characters would not be wrong to do so). It shows that Zuko and Azula's story is a tragedy. They're both just children forced to fight a war that wasn't even theirs, and they weren't even able to fight it together

does one ever individual that parents separated when you were young think about how when you were younger, if you looked more like the parent that was absent, the parent that you were left with would target you more than your other siblings?? like you’d get in trouble more and the consequences would just be more intense. and then when you got older, if you’d started looking less like the absent parent and more like the present parent, the consequences would get less and less frequent or intense???
so does one ever think about how zuko probably looked more like ursa when he was younger?? causing another reason why ozai burned half of his sons face off because not only did you speak out of turn at a war meeting but you also look like my wife that i hate deeply. let’s get rid of that pls. a lot of people say zuko looks like ozai (which is true) but what if ozai himself doesn’t see that and he only sees ursa when he looks at zuko because of the hatred he has for her. (not to mention ursa is a non-bender and zuko wasn’t very skilled in his firebending when he was younger) and vice versa for azula. ozai sees himself when he looks at azula. that’s another reason why azula (looking like ozai) is favored more than zuko (looking like ursa) in ozais eyes.
but plot twist! in reality zuko actually looks like ozai and azula looks like ursa. but again, ozai doesn’t see that nor wanna believe that zuko looks like him or resembles him in any way because he is not the strongest compared to azula. and for azula, because she is a prodigy and very very skilled, ozai wants to ignore the fact she looks like his ex, soo he gaslights himself to believe azula looks like him and zuko looks like ursa.
and in the end….zuko never stopped looking like ursa even with the scar in ozais perspective. when ozai first saw zuko when he returned back, he still saw ursa.

Oh I'm sure there's some reason aang can't just energybend Willy-nilly. It's draining, there's some sort of consequence, etc, etc, I DONT CARE it wasn't established in cannon and despite what we're supposed to think aang is still very much an immature kid and would probably try energybending some airbenders into existence

Ok so like…I’ve always been a sucker for time travel fics. Entire Gaang goes back? Great! Just Zuko? The angst is immaculate and I love it every time. Aang? Always a trip. Couples going back? The SHIPPING. The point is, time travel is the best (when done right) and I’m not ashamed to admit I’ll eat it up every time.
So I was browsing through ATLA time travel fics as you do, and I had an Idea.
We’ve all seen the Gaang time travel/dimension travel (and sometimes Azula, which is pretty fun in and of itself) but Ive never seen this done with Ozai (not to say there’s none, I just might not have found it)
Now wait. Hear me out. I hate Ozai as much as the next guy. Canon Ozai is a shit person who doesn’t deserve good things.
But.
Imagine an alternate universe Ozai who’s not such a shit person.
This Ozai makes mistakes and does more than questionable things, but at the end of the day he loves his kids and his nation. So he is VERY CONFUSED when he one day wakes up/dies and is transported to canon universe. IMAGINE. The confusion. THE ANGST. On BOTH SIDES.
No one will talk about his wife, who is apparently gone and has been for years (?????) Zuko looks…honestly terrified anytime he’s in the same room as Ozai (which is more than a little disturbing!) and Azula is…well. He doesn’t know what to think about Azula. This alternate Azula is so different from his Azula it nearly gives him whiplash the first time they interact.
So Ozai’s just shrugging and doing the same things he usually does with his kids (because even if they’re not from the same universe, they are still versions of his kids) and Zuko and Azula are just like. Extremely confused.
The day of black sun comes, and with it Zukos confrontation.
So Zukos just like, letting loose on him, yelling about years worth of pain and suffering caused by the man in front of him.
And this, of course, extremely hurts and confuses Ozai (what did alternate him do?????)
He can’t even say anything back, because these alternate versions of his children are very obviously hurt and in pain and Ozai is having a sneaking suspicion it might be alternate hims fault. So when Zuko finally lets out years worth of anger and pain on him, Ozai just sits there and takes it, numb with shock. He can’t believe a version of him could hurt family, but here they are. Zuko gets to the part about his scar and.
Ozai just can’t even respond. He’s just…extremely disturbed and horrified. By this entire conversation, actually…
So when Zuko goes to leave, Ozai doesn’t stop him. Zuko doesn’t feel safe here, and Ozai…really can’t blame him. He’s honestly very horrified and a lot disgusted by what Canon him did to both his children, and knows there’s no erasing that. The best he can do is try to mend burned bridges and salvage something out of this mess canon him made.
Idk. Just a thought.

hmmm consumption as the ultimate form of devotion but ‘am I making you feel sick?’ the fact that it could be about dying and her only consideration is if she tasted good OR she’s dead and it’s the only act of revenge she can get. she’s dead now she has nothing but she made him ill. that’s it that’s her legacy: a polaroid in evidence and making isaiah sick. the emotion in her voice when she asks ‘am I no good?’ because after all this, 76 minutes and 13 songs, after being drugged and murdered and eaten, that’s what her story is down to: the human desire to be good. and it killed her. she tried to be good and she died for it. anyway tell me about this tragic villain failed by his family hella
oh he's just some guy that was born with the sole purpose of fulfilling his father's wish of becoming the number 1 hero and beating his dad's nemesis and his dad spent his formative years instilling that idea into his head and 'training' (abusing) him to be a fighter and a hero and never once letting him be a kid but he didn't have the right ability for it because he burned on his own flames so when his younger brother was born with the perfect ability he was just thrown aside and his father never bothered with him again like all of that pain and false love never meant a thing and it drove him to the brink of burning himself alive and coming back with his skin barely held together by staples some atrophied, monsterous villain and he made it his life's wish to kill his father for turning him into something so ugly and in his own hatred he destroyed himself enough that even his siblings became subject to his fury despite also being victims of their father and he's one of the main villains of the entire show but he was literally just a child who wanted to be good
