I fucking hate Active Time Lore. It is the bane of storytelling. Writing in games is bad enough, the last thing we fucking need is a button to define all the proper nouns via Word-of-God. Gameplay should not involve mashing the lore button to see when it updates. This is a profoundly bad design choice.

Like is it incompetence on the part of the developer to tell a decent story, or do they just not trust players to pay any attention? I suspect a bit of both.
