some ATLA post-trailer thoughts now that I'm done foaming at the mouth:

I am really curious to find out what could possibly have been the creative differences that made bryke walk out of the project. The trailer didn't disclose much of the plot, but judging by the cameos, it looks like they will be stitching together all the 'earth-adjacent' episodes like kyoshi warriors, the one with Teo and the mechanic, and Omashu. Wonder if we'll get Haru or if they'll skip that/leave that for s2.

I have the sneaking suspicion that the timeline will be different. As in, Aang won't have 1 year to complete his quest but maybe 2 or 3. Not only does it make sense for production purposes, but if Kataang stays as part of the plot, it won't look as awkward if they let Gordon grow a couple inches because that sweet boy is TINY🥺

I am still holding my reservations with the cast's acting range and chemistry, but I am very optimistic. Don't get me wrong, I think the casting choices are phenomenal. They look and sound exactly like their animated counterparts, but there is still something a bit... off. idk, maybe it's just me, but it seems that every time the cast is doing pr they're too rehearsed, too nervous to be themselves. And I could see some of that hesitation in the trailer. It may be just me, though. Plus they are still very young and these are their first major acting roles, so I can understand the charisma doesn’t roll off the tongue as easily as with, say, the cast of One Piece, who are ten years older than them. After seeing the trailer, though, I'm definitely giving them the benefit of the doubt.

Gordon looks like he’s going to smash the ball out of the park. I'm very excited to see him in the more vulnerable scenes.

After seeing the kids mention how hard it was to portray humor in such a serious project several times during the after-trailer party video, I am a tiny bit concerned that this may be one of the major creative differences. Like, one of the reasons ATLA was so successful was because it did the rare accomplishment of telling a story about war and suffering without ever sacrificing humor, hope, and light-heartedness. I will not forgive Netflix if they attempted to turn atla into a slightly funnier version of Game of Thrones.

Also, I am aware that this is a trailer so they'll keep some stuff out but,,,, where is Yue? 🤔

but!!! YES i wanna play this game!!!! omg i know it’s taken me an age to answer but i have poured over the list i made for this—i window shopped, asked other people what they thought, cross referenced my own writing so now we are PREPARED!!

i consider this a part 2 to how i envision the Y/Ns in the in another life verse dressing. and just like part one, this one is under a cut—so that the friends we have among us who don’t want their vision of Y/N spoilt by my subjective taste in objects ruined don’t have to see it!

weedsie-woo would favour bags that can carry a lot; a heavy waterbottle, one of haru’s toys, the little pouch packed with like, band-aids and face-mist and hand cream and lip balm. then you’d have things like the crumpled empty pack of hero chips (that’s haru’s), a wallet, a coin-purse, and obviously the all-important phone. the pocket knife from katsuki. the little pouch that holds weed’s hearing aid (and a spare battery, just in case).

scribbles would grab whatever’s near. 💀 whatever bag ends up being used, it’s always crammed full of shit—a pencil case, filled with coloured pencils and fountain pens and ink and watercolour paints—paint markers, mechanical pencils, erasers. the journal that scribbles takes with them, everywhere. headphones and a tin of breath mints and a small makeup pouch with like, idk, lip gloss and concealer, mascara. there’s a bottle of perfume in there somewhere and a mask and a wallet, scribble’s phone (although that mostly lives in scribble’s hand). it’s not uncommon for scribbles to lug magazines to the studio—for reference.

both Y/Ns would swap things, interchangeably. weeds might buy a new magazine, or a manga volume and take it to work—scribbles might take a drink bottle from a convenience store. both of them might use a flimsy tote bag one day, then the next scribbles might arrive to work with a fine leather handbag. weeds might take some florist wire or tape home and then take it back to the shop a few days later. it’s just—stuff like that! there’s gum in weed’s bag one day, some tiny gachapon toy in scribbles’ the next. maybe it pours rain in weed’s part of town, so there’s a little compact umbrella shoved into the tote, while scribble’s side of the city is dry as a bone so there’s a cap in scribb’s instead. on and on and on forever, as they go about their lives and their days. 😌

guys I'm crying I'm genuinely crying actual tears. I was gonna make a "surprise, bitch. I bet you thought you'd seen the last of me" joke but it's no time to jokE. TOO MUCH IS HAPPENING.

And as a lot of people saw coming this appears to be the final arc🥲 it's sad but I'm glad that the story seems to have been allowed to run its natural course and adachitoka got to tell the story they wanted to tell (and boy, what a story). Bittersweet, but let's all enjoy this final arc together! I'm terrified!! What on earth is going to happen!!! How do all the loose ends get tied up????

fast-moon dropped this one while I was on a date and when I saw that notification I had to stop, process it and explain to my date what was going on because that is how much despair it caused me. (And I hadn't even read the damn thing yet)

Why is it only now clicking for me that there is a CLEAR OBVIOUS MEANINGFUL RELATIONSHIP between the names Yuki / Haru / Sakura.

Smarter people than I probably have and will speak more (and better) on everything going on with names and wordplay and Yato fighting and being nearly killed by Yuuki on the same hill where he buried his body and letters, but I will just say that it hurts and it made me cry ambiguous, confusing, sad-happy tears.

That entire section looked so pretty and Yato and Yuki looked so tiny and I'm just🥺

Ok now that that's out of the way. He makes a valid point- from his point of view, at least. From what we have seen of his backstory, Yato was created by a wish born of his deep feelings of injustice, of being left behind to die by the world and the gods ("You were my prayer"). TO him, Yato has always been a tool he had a right to, he deserved, to "cull the herd", to take back the power he believed was for him and taken away. Yato was Father's lifeline in a similar fashion as Father was his. He was his precious means of justice until he wasn't anymore. And he loved him in the same sick and twisted way he loves Mizuchi for very similar reasons. Again from what we know up until now, I fear it might be all he knows, love for someone as a means to an end; but I'm afraid we just won't know that until we learn more about his relationship to Kaya (vibrating with excitement As We Speak).

Oh no. Ohhh no. There is so much to unpack from Nora and Kazuma at the end oh NO.

Hey yeah remember that old theory I had that got debunked a bunch in the last couple of years where I talked about hafuri being immune to GGS and roped Kazuma into my examples? well lookie here guess we'll find out sooner rather than later won't we? :)

so basically it's something y/n never really craved or really regularly eat until she got pregnant with hiroki and every time she walked oast the waffle place next to the tattoo shop with haruto in her arms, she would stop by and get everyone waffles so they could have a little lunch break together. by the time hiroki got a little okder, he'd always ask for one when he went to visit his dad at work and his uncles, especially oikawa, never once hesitated to actually go and get him one. he doesn't even like it with anything special, he usually prefers bananas and a tiny bit of nutella and the first time he asked for this specific combination, iwaizumi started laughing because that was the only way y/n would wat hers when she was pregnant with him🥺💞

I’m TOTALLY with you on team Kageyama should have been the main character. His backstory with his grandpa is literally so emotional and compelling (🥺 that tiny blueberry boy😭). And he goes through so much character growth of learning how to reconcile his own way of being in the world with also being a part of a team and a broader community.

One of the things I really liked about Free is that the character that fits the “walking DSM autism criteria” trope gets to be the main character. Yes, it’s mainly bc I’m autistic and Haru is low-key really good autism rep. Seeing such an obviously autistic character (even if it was unintentional) having such good friends who treat him so well is very healing.

But. I also thinks it adds complexity to the story. He’s less of a Everyman type of character and more defined as an actual unique person with a history. Which Haikyuu would have also benefited from imo.

(Also Haru and Kageyama are cousins and you can pry that head cannon out of my cold dead hands)

Mikey

Mikey instantly recognizes the grey hoodie you’re wearing as you walk out of your shared bedroom.

That was his favourite one he wore as a teen, during his Toman days.... He could’ve sworn he threw it out years ago.

He walks up to you and grabs your hands.

“Babe, where did you find that hoodie?” he asks as he rolls up the sleeves that are obviously too big for you.

“Oh I found it in the back of the closet, you don’t wear it so I thought I could” you say.

“Yeah you look cute in it” Mikey says. “I mean you also look like you’re drowning in it cuz you’re so small” he says while laughing.

“Hey don’t call me small!” you say and you stomp and give him a soft push and your sleeves come rolling down.

“Haha okay love, but you’re so cute when you’re mad and even cuter when you’re wearing my clothes” says Mikey.

“Whatever” you say and you pull the hood on and it covers half of your face.

“I’m sorry, come here” Mikey says and he pulls you closer to him, folds up the sleeves and takes off your hood and kisses your forehead.

“I love you” he says.

“I love you too” you reply.

Rindou

Rindou comes home late after a long meeting with Bonten and sees you sleeping on the couch wearing one of his hoodies.

He goes up to you and lightly taps your shoulder and says “Hey y/n wake up, I’m back”.

You wake up to see your purple haired fiancé leaning over you.

You instantly get up and hug him.

“Woah, what’s this for?” he asks shocked at your sudden affection towards him.

“I just missed you so much. I even put on your hoodie cuz I was missing you so much” you say and let go.

“Yeah I’ve noticed the hoodie, It looks like a dress on you to be honest.... I can’t even see your cute little hands and that beautiful engagement ring on your finger” he says as he lifts up your sleeve covered arm.

You pull the sleeve up just enough to show him your hand.

“Now I like looking at that” Rindou says smiling as he holds your hand in his.

“Anyways lets go to bed, you look tired” and he picks you up and carries you to your room.

Sanzu

“Oh my god. That’s it, I’m done taking pills!” Sanzu says and he starts panicking.

You’re totally confused by this, you just walked out of your bedroom after changing your clothes.

“Huh? Why? What happened?” you questioned him.

“You shrunk y/n! I know it’s not possible but my pills are making me hallucinate and you’re smaller now! You don’t even fit your clothes anymore!”

You can’t help but start laughing, you go up to Sanzu and sit on his lap and kiss him.

“Baby, you don’t even recognize your own clothing?” you say and start giggling.

“What?” Sanzu says.

“Haru.... this is your hoodie” you say and kiss him again, this time on one of his scars.

“Oh.... why are you wearing it? It’s way too big for you” he says.

“Because it’s yours” you tell him.

“Well don’t take it off, you look cute in it” he says.

“Wasn’t planning to” you reply back.

Sanzu then lays down on the couch and pulls you down with him and you spend the next few hours cuddling because Sanzu thought you looked so adorable in his clothing and couldn’t keep his hands off of you.

Ran

Ran watched you get out of bed and open the closet door.

He sees your grab something and recognizes what it is, one of his favourite hoodies.

We watches you change and you’re only wearing your underwear and you put his hoodie on.

He gets out of bed and stands behind you as you look in the mirror.

“Hi Love, nice hoodie you got there, you don’t think it’s too big?” as he looks at your nonexistent arms at your sides.

“No. I think it’s the perfect size” you say at the hoodie the goes down just above your knees.

“You’re so tiny” he says and smiles down at you.

“Hey don’t call me tiny!” you say and slap him with the extra sleeve length of the hoodie.

“You look like you have noodles for arms” he jokes.

You pout at his joke.

“Not funny” you say.

“Okay, okay. I’m sorry. You’re just so adorable, especially in my clothes” Ran says.

He then gives you a kiss on the top of your head.

He then secretly takes a pic of you so he can show off your cuteness to the guys at tonight’s Bonten meeting.

2:50 - alright, I love all the Studio Ghibli stuff. The film strip ticket is such a cool souvenir! And that book is awesome looking. Phil’s got such a fond look on his face as Dan shows it.

3:58 - the Pokémon Centre does seem like a dangerous place for DNP to spend money, lol. Also, love that selfie with Duncan and Mimei!

4:09 - of course a lot of what Phil chose is snacks. Now Dan is excited when he sees they have shapes.

4:21 - right with the feeding. of the cookie Phil just bit off of. 

4:42 - Dan is so amused and fond at what Phil bought this entire video. And Phil is so smiley.

5:05 - I LOVE this tidbit that Phil organizes stuff for an airport into a folder and carries it around. (I used to do that do before mobile boarding passes.)

9:07 - I feel like they would have been so awkward at the maid café. Phil’s side-eye about the loyalty card is something. They did both post polaroids from it (1, 2) and photos of the llama and lion lattes they got.

9:32 - so Dan bought something expensive to get the Free! tissue box Phil was teasing him for in the DITL video, not a bunch of stuff. (Also, lol Dan still making use of it months later.)

9:50 - “I’m just going to leave messages for you around the house.” Dan does not hate that idea, the dimple is out.

9:55 - the fridge walrus! (I tried for the life of me to figure out which video we originally saw this in, but I can’t remember...)

11:31 - they are cute! Dan likes it a lot, but it took Phil a second. Phil definitely has an issue with the texture of some things.

12:10 - so some of it is at least supposed to be for friends, haha. They did at least give a couple things to Phil’s family when they came to visit a few days after they got back.

This isn’t the most exciting video, but it’s fun to hear them reminisce about this trip that they loved so much. This isn’t a video I rewatch a lot, so I hadn’t seen it in a while. A lot of the stuff they got shows up in random videos in the future!

Movie night ~ Super Junior Donghae

A/N.: The idea of Dad!Donghae sounded too cute not to write so I had to do this kinda long drabble. Also inspired by D&E's Now Naver radio show where Donghae talked about [spoiler] The Little Mermaid 🥺 Genre: fluff, extremely cute family fluffy drabbleWarnings: -

"Hey, princess!" Donghae's cheerful voice greeted you over the phone. "I'm sorry I couldn't reply your texts, I got caught up at work. You wanted to talk to me?"

"Hi, sweetie! I was going to ask you to pick Haru at the daycare 'cause I'm trapped at work too, but took you too long so I called your mom since she's in town."

"I'm so sorry, princess, really." his tone went low and you knew he would tear up if you didn't interrupt him. "Damn, I should've-"

"Donghae-ah, it's ok, she's with your mom, don't worry, sweetie."

"But I should've been there to pick her up, Y/N!"

"You were trapped at work too, my love, don't worry. I wanted to ask you to pick her with your mom because I'll still be here for a while..."

"No problem, I'll go right now. See you at home?"

"Of course. And Donghae, don't give her sugar in the evening, ok? She won't sleep if you do."

"Not even a piece of chocolate?" he pleaded. You knew him too well at this point, you knew he was pouting over the phone. Maybe a piece of chocolate wouldn't hurt...

"Ok." you answered with a sigh and he giggled. "Don't give her too much! Otherwise you'll be staying up all night if she feels sick!"

"It's fine, princess, I got it all covered. Love you."

"Love you too." you hung up with a smile and went back to your work.

As you were busy and getting a migraine from work issues, Donghae was getting back home with your daughter, both giggling and excitedly making plans.

"How was my baby girl's day today?" he asked, putting her on the floor.

"It was amajing daddy!" the little one answered, running around the house.

"Haru-ah, your shoes!" Donghae called, making the little girl come back running and kick her outdoor shoes away. "Baby, that's not how we take off shoes. Come here, let's pick them up and put on the slippers."

The three-year old girl muttered an "ok" before Donghae changed her shoes and then sprinted back inside the house. He smiled to himself and followed her, grabbing her in his arms, winning a loud giggle and a soft yelp from her.

"Daddy, where's mommy?" Haru asked, plopping on the sofa and shaking her little legs energetically.

"Mommy is still working, baby." he said and she pouted. "Don't worry, sweetie, she's coming. Why don't I give you a bath and we find something to do while we wait for mommy?"

"Can we watch a princess movie?!"

"Of course we can." Donghae answered, taking her by the hand and guiding her to the bathroom. "You can choose whichever you want and daddy will watch with you."

Donghae was really dedicated to his father role in the house, truly committed to being his tiny princess's hero, which meant he'd do anything - from sorting out her mess to giving her a bath, dressing and combing her hair, singing and telling stories to her as he did so.

"Daddy, sing the rain song!" she pleaded with those beautiful eyes - she had his eyes.

"Not now." Donghae chuckled, finishing drying her hair. "Now you'll go to the living room and pick a movie for us and daddy will get us something delicious to eat, ok? You're ready for your mission?"

"Ye!"

"Ok, now go!" he sent her off with a smile and watched as his baby ran around the halls.

"Are you going to take too long?" he texted you.

"Not much, I'm almost done here. Why?"

"We're going to watch a movie and she has called for you already. Hurry up and join us for movie night, princess, we miss you"

"I'm coming." you typed back, grinning to yourself.

As you tried to get off work, Donghae and your daughter settled in front of the TV, putting on a load of Disney Princess's movies. A lot of toys were scattered on the rug where Donghae was sitting as his little one played with his hair and attempted to sing every single song on the movie.

"Daddy, Elsa can build snow doggies?" Haru asked, placing a tiny pink ribbon on a strand of his hair.

"I bet she can."

"She can build a snowman, she can build a snowdog too, right?"

"That sounds like a talk you should have with uncle Heechul." Donghae chuckled and Haru stared at him sternly.

"Uncle Chul know more about Elsa and her powers?"

"He surely does." Donghae tickled her, making her laugh louder than the movie.

"Can I call him? I wanna talk about Elsa!"

"Later, ok? Uncle Heechul is at work."

"Why is everyone at work?" Haru pouted. "Nobody wanna play with me..."

"Oh, no, sweetie, people work, it's normal. Sometimes we need to wait a little longer to play, but it doesn't mean they don't want to." she was still pouting, so Donghae kissed her tiny hands. "We'll wait for mommy and then we can call uncle Chul, ok? Don't you want to play with dad anymore? I'll let you style my hair again."

She picked another pink ribbon as Donghae put on another movie, slowly improving her mood - he even let her eat chocolate, which made her forget about adults working instead of giving her attention.

"Daddy, you have a faborite princess?" she asked, glueing her eyes on the screen.

"It's favorite, sweetie."

"Daddy, you didn't answer." he laughed.

"I do, baby."

"Which one?" her eyes were now glued on him, making him weirdly shy.

"The Little Mermaid..." he whispered, making a grin appear on Haru's tiny face.

"She has a really red hair! And a fish! Daddy, you like her because the fishes? And the sea? Your name means sea, right?" Donghae smiled at her.

"That's exactly why. But I do have two other favorite princesses in the whole world. Do you know who?"

"Is it me and mommy?" her eyes sparkled and he squeezed her in his arms.

"Yes, princess, it's you and mommy. You're both my favorite princesses ever." Donghae kissed her cheek. "And I love you both so much."

Haru giggled, softly kissing his chin and snuggling on his neck. "Love you daddy."

Donghae sighed blissfully. "What about you, baby, who's your favorite princess?"

The talk went on and on as they jumped between movies, debating serious questions such as why Dory is blue and yellow and how birds fly but can't breath under water. When you arrived home, you found Donghae snoozing on the sofa with Haru on his chest, the TV showing the credits from Zootopia and the lights turned off.

"Hey there." you whispered, walking in. The sound of your voice startled Donghae and he shined you a sleepy smile, tapping softly on Haru's back.

"Haru-ah, wake up. Guess who's here?" she lifted her head, gazing on your direction, her eyes going wide when she finally saw you.

"Mommy!" she yelled, stumbling over Donghae's body, making him groan in pain, to jump into your arms.

"Hi, sweetie." you took her, filling her cheeks with kisses. "How was your day with dad?"

"We watched princess movies!"

"Did you, really? Did you enjoy it?"

"She certainly did." Donghae approached you with his hair tied in a million pink laces and you giggled as he leaned in to peck your lips softly. "Hi, princess."

"Hi, my love."

"Mommy! Can we call uncle Heechul now?" Haru antsy asked in your arms and you frowned.

"Call Heechul?" you looked to Donghae, expecting an answer.

"She wants to talk about Elsa..."

You laughed, kissing her cheek again.

"We sure can." you said, hoping Heechul hadn't gone drinking after tapping today. "Let mommy take a shower and then we'll call uncle Chul."

Haru left out an "yay" as you put her down and Donghae smiled at you.

"Did you enjoy your movie night?" you asked, caressing his arms.

"Of course. Every moment I get to spend with her is memorable." he hugged you. "She reminds me of you."

"Does she?"

"She's tiny and curious and gets sad if people don't give her attention." you laughed, softly hitting him.

"I don't do that."

"You do. And I love you for that. And I love her for that too."

"I love her for that too." you smiled, kissing his chin.

"C'mon, let's call Heechul hyung and ask about Elsa."

This is probably a better question once something like this is done, but I keep rereading both fics and I just the protags sm haha but I keep thinking about if romance would be possible if the protags were reversed? I remember your lil analysis’s of why each reader were good compliments to bkg and dk respectively and I think it would be funny to think of the potential dynamic between something’s reader and bkg LOL but I hope you have been taking care of yourself <3

OH you know…. that is a really good question lmao. I’ve been sitting here mulling over it — because I think my answer is very much like, symptomatic of how I see love in general!!!

Long story short: yeah, a romance would be possible if Bakugou and Deku swapped Readers!! Love grows with intimacy; I believe that you can genuinely fall for nearly anyone, when you’re exposed to them enough, to their vulnerability and their joys.

If Deku was the one that commando rolled into surrender’s florist shop, or if Bakugou was working with something’s comic artist, they’d have different dynamics — and different ways of getting to the end-line, but they would get there. They would collide, go through their respective dramas and they would walk away from the endings of those stories together.

That’s not to say that either Reader is neatly interchangeable — I kinda think that all of my fics so far have like, an element of initial attraction? And I think that the way that attraction is sparked would be different, if you changed them up — like, Katsuki is initially more… watchful of surrender’s Reader because their signing, with Haru — and the easy way they mention being Quirkless, in order to normalise it for him. Whereas with Deku he’s such a kid-magnet, LOL, and has such a saviour complex that I think initially he’d zero in on Haru’s plight, focusing on building up this kid — it’d have to be some other moment, something tiny and inevitable, that would make him pause and look at surrender’s Reader.

Compared to like, something’s Reader vs. Kacchan — that would legitimately just be a straight-up enemies-to-lovers LMAO. Not like a fun, banter-y one either — but like, one filled with actual disrespect (on Reader’s part, anyway; Katsuki would’ve respected them as an artist before like…. meeting them LMAO). They would absolutely bring out the worst in each other — it’d be a steep learning curve for them both. I do kinda see them as embodying a “kiss you to shut you up” trope LMAO. It would definitely be a rollercoaster of a romance!!!

It’d be fun to write, maybe… 🥺👉🏽👈🏽 both swaps. I do wonder if both our Male Romantic Leads would come to the same sort of character conclusions, if you swapped them, as they do in their original stories? 🧐 Will have to ruminate on this.
