today i'm welcoming home my first BJD, "lieselotte!" i would like to occasionally post more doll content (especially lolita related) on my blog from now on.. so you may be seeing her often!! ♡
lolita collaborations sparked my interest in ball jointed dolls quite a while ago, but i've only recently started researching them and have come to love all of the similarities these hobbies share. i was very lucky to be able to find my discontinued dream doll completely unopened from a secondhand sale despite this specific model being made and distributed almost 15 years ago. it gives the same feeling as a very well preserved time capsule of sorts.
to give more information on her--she is a 2010 limited release model volks super dollfie x baby, the stars shine bright collaboration from the storyline "harajuku memories"
she is absolutely everything i wanted in a doll and a perfect fit for me as a lolita and avid fan of btssb. i prefer the older faceups of her rather than the more modern ones. i intend on matching coords with her-- so far, i own the same gingham rose OP, her default dress, and the honey cross shoes and socks.. though i want to hunt down the same christina hat she wears. i plan to take her outside with me once the weather gets a bit nicer, as her storyline mentions that being her wish!
i'm quite new to the hobby and still have a lot to learn, so feel free to share any resources or tips ^_^

Suguru Geto x fem! Reader
Warnings: angst, teen pregnancy, grief, slight mention of mature content
Tumblr media
blankley staring at the celling of your dimely lit room. The soft snores of the baby beside you fill the silence as you attempt to make out shapes that stay hidden in the dark.
It makes you think of how Suguru always saw the things you couldn't, not just because of his sorcerer abilities but his general perception of the world around him.
You loved that about him.
He knew how to pick up on things that seemingly weren't there.
You never completely understood the whole sorcerer thing. You remember the feeling of confusion in your heart after you first learnt he was going to jujutsu tech for high school.
You worried for the boy who you've seemingly spent your whole life with being without you and you without him.
Remembering how he held you tight, calm and sure that youd be okay, kissing your forehead and pinching your cheeks, with his signature grin and a playful remarks.
He made you realise he would in fact be alright at his new school, sealing it off with a vow that he'd be careful with curses.
With that you found ways to make due with the distance, his new friend Gojo would help sneak him out. For dates in Harajuku and make outs in the school.
Slowly though, you think of the transition from day visits to spending the nights exploring the other, beginning a new chapter of your relationship.
As each others firsts, feather light kisses filled with nervous giggles and whispered I love yous, he made it beautiful every time you did it
You knew eventually the magic would turn into something that would catch up to you.
You remember buying the test and calling him, crying telling him how you didnt want to do any of it alone, to which he promised, you would never have to.
He kept to his word
Even with his head bowed as both sets of parents raged at him for your reckless behavior. He held your hand, squeezing it, wordlessly telling you he loved you
You remember how he and his friends documented the pregnancy, leaving messages for when the unborn baby arrived. Uncle Satoru, gathering footage for you two.
As the day came nearer your doctor commanded bedrest until delivery. Suguru grew anxious, chewing at his lip as the doctor spoke. You knew how he tended to spiral under stress, he always preferred to deal with shit alone and push you out until he was ready.
You knew he'd be ready eventually
You never expected it to get too bad
Even when he was visibly exhausted, dark circles under his eyes, he hadn't been eating, your Suguru was doing it alone. "I'm just tired" he'd say dejected, absentmindedly kissing your forehead when he'd come visit your bedside.
Maybe you should've done more
When you found out about what he had done to his parents. Your body froze,a denial and grief, mixed with unmatched confusion seeped into your senses.
That night, you heard something fall in the nursery, you abandoned your bed, with sore feet and navigated to the room.
There he stood, peering over the empty crib. You didn't realise you were shaking, and the source of your fear; the man you love.
" Sugu...?" not so much a question and your voice barely a whisper.
He slowly approached you, touching your belly, softly caressing the skin, kneeling to kiss it.
"you still love me"
"Suguru please..." warm tears slip down your cheeks, you begged him not to leave, you pleaded that it's a bad dream. He mumbled something about his "off spring" before he left
You cant help but think that's why he spared you, the baby in your belly binding you to him
But anyways that was the last time you saw him, before Gojo told you everything. Suguru had more going on than you knew
Your newborn son in your arms, you were alone Suguru wasnt there , exhaustion and a strange feeling weighing your heart.
You stare at the ceiling tearing up at the memories, you hated when you thought about him, you always spiral into the entire story. Leaving you here, puffy eyes and small wishing he was here.
He promised to be here

Hero Vision Vol.1 (2000/Winter) Changerion Reunion Interviews ft. Takashi Hagino & Aizawa Kazunari (translations below)
Publication: December 31, 2000
Takashi Hagino & Aizawa Kazunari: After 4 years, a date in Harajuku
Hey you two, how are you doing these days? It's been 4 years since the end of the broadcast. You two had a fateful encounter in "Choukou Senshi Changerion," an unusual heroic show that still remains popular to this day. We asked Takashi Hagino and Kazunari Aizawa, who say they still get along well with each other, about their memories of those days, and what their future plans are.
Main Interview Section
"I'm going to say it now. I mean it, I'm really going to say it right now! Changerion was really entertaining! It was truly a masterpiece! Suzumura Akira, a happy go lucky, good natured, 182cm tall, cat eyed, beautiful private investigator, and his partner, Hayami Katsuhiko, a 183cm tall, hot blooded and direct individual with a handsome face, are both on the side of justice. Kuroiwa Shogo, the Dark Knight, is an elite who's handsome, also quite tall I guess, and is running for governor of Tokyo in order to seize control of the city. A slapstick comedy and super cool tokusatsu hero show, with a mixture of fiction and reality, something like this most definitely existed in 1996 Tokyo. On the day of this interview, I was so excited to hear their voices saying, "Good morning~!" The appearance of those two standing there looked really really cool! And so begins the converstions full of laughter between Takashi Hagino, who plays the main character Suzumura Akira, and Aizawa Kazunari, who plays his partner Hayami Katsuhiko."
-Casting!! Secret Stories?-
Hagino: At that time, the role was the same as it always was, wasn't it? I went to a party at some production company, and someone was like, "Ah, you there," and told to come in for an audition. When I went to it, Shirakura-san, the producer, and Nagaishi-san, the main director, were smiling ear to ear once they saw me. I remember thinking, "What, why are you smiling like that?" I was 22 at the time of my debut, so it was about 5-6 years after I dropped out of high school. Before that, the movies that came out around that time made me think that acting was really interesting.
"You've also appeared in a V-Cinema that contains slightly adult content."
Hagino: It's bad. Please don't watch it (laughs). Watch something else where I look cool.
Kazunari: For me, I had just started acting, and my manager took me to Toei's head office to introduce myself. I announced that I was new and would be in their care, and then a strange old man came up to me and said, "Are you the one?" (everyone laughs).
Hagino: Wait! Was he trying to flirt with you?!
Kazunari: Uh, no, you see, my shoelaces became untied in the hallway, so I had to sit on the floor to retie them. He came up to me and said, "What's wrong?" I said, "Ah, no, I'm an actor," and he said, "Come with me then!" Things got carried away, and before I knew it, I went in for an audition.
Hagino: So, who was that guy?
Kazunari: He was……a really good guy to say the least, I actually don't remember his name.
Hagino: You're terrible! (laughs).
Kazunari: No, no. Look, it's because, it's just…anyway, so, at first, I was reading the script without knowing which one of us would play the role. Then, when it was down to just a few people, they asked me, "Which role do you want to play?" I was like, "Well, Hayami, I guess." I wondered if this was it, and then I passed, I passed……huh.
Hagino: Can we get some more joy here?
Kazunari: Well, it's because I really didn't understand. I didn't really feel it when I was suddenly told that I got the job. What's more, I still had no idea how hard it was going to be. No, rather, you really don't know what's going to happen in this world.
"Thank goodness for untied shoelaces and nice people"
-I'm not awkward!-
Hagino: I was asked to read my lines in front of everyone. Naturally, the producer told me that in the future, he would never have me read my lines at the audition for a leading role ever again (everyone laughs). No, I thought it went really well, and while I was a favorite to play this role, somehow I was also the worst. One of the more important people there looked as if he was going "?" all while tilting his head. He looked really nervous. He said, "From now on, when we present leading role auditions to the higherups, we won't make them read lines." He also said, "If you go with this guy, then shut him up and pick him already."
"It's true, Akira's acting wasn't very good, and I felt so embarrassed watching that I wasn't even able to finish the first episode. But, I could never think of anyone else playing Suzumura Akira but Takashi Hagino, and I still think that way after seeing him again after four years."
Hagino: But, back then, I definitely had some momentum. I was always told "You're a perfect fit for the role of Akira!," and a part of me got carried away over it, it felt like my nose was growing just like Pinocchio, except this nose is of brilliant glass. If Pinocchio's nose was made of glass, it would be really beautiful and sparkling.
"He smiles cheerfully and says that such things give him "the power" to play a role."
Hagino: But, you know, it's going to break someday. When that happens, only then will you understand.
"Afterall, Akira, aren't you suppost to be an adult?"
-First Impressions-
Hagino: We first met in an elevator, right?
Kazunari: Yeah, it was in an elevator. When I was on my way to the audition area.
Hagino: I said, "Huh? What's with the long hair?"
Kazunari: Yeah, it was really long.
Hagino: Incredibly long, it was tied in a single knot, along with wearing black jeans and a black shirt. I noticed him and asked, "What floor?" He said, "8th floor, hurry it up."
Kazunari: You liar! No, I politely said, "I'm going to the 8th floor, please."
Hagino: Well, I don't know, I guess that's just how bad my impression of you was (laughs).
Kazunari: Somehow, I never thought that the two of us would be working together.
Hagino: Yeah, I had costume fitting, and they told me that my partner was coming, and then the absolute worst guy came walking in.
Kazunari: Hey now (laughs).
Hagino: Because we seemed so similar in type, I thought there was no way the two of us would be together. Then he came in. And, as you can see, he's handsome, incredibly so. And…uwah. He stands out just by standing still. I really have to do my best here. Even still, I feel good with this guy. I can't imagine anyone else, as I'm already spoiled being stuck with him.
"Oh? Hayami is smiling shyly as he listens."
-Dramatic Drunks-
Hagino: When we drink together, we end up staying up until morning, right?
Kazunari: Yeah, when I see him, all he does is drink.
Hagino: When drunk, this guy tries jumping backwards. He gets really mad. When he stomps, it makes a nice sound.
Kazunari: I see… (pretending not to know)
Hagino: I end up joining him (grinning)
Kazunari: It seems I do alot of unacceptable things.
Hagino: Not really. He says that like I'm trying to wring it out of him. Well, guess I'll just go home then… (walks straight past him)
Kazunari: I do drink abit too much.
Hagino: I feel like a fighter when it comes to alcohol. I'm trying not to lose my memory here.
Kazunari: This guy makes people drink all the time. He'll ask, "Want some sake?" It seems I don't drink for myself, rather, I only drink due to the influence of other people. (to Hagino) Hey, you, you're the reason I always end up getting drunk.
"As usual, they are the best of friends."
-Acting, Theatre and Films-
Kazunari: Basically, about halfway through Changerion's filming, my impression of him was, "Ah, this guy, he's actually really serious.
"Oh? Somehow, Akira looks very happy."
Hagino: That's because, you know, it took me a long time to properly get into the role.
Kazunari: In our current ranks, we don't get into such big roles on TV or movies. I often get a role at the last minute, and have to act on the spot, so I think that because I can practice for a month on stage, movies really require alot of power in comparison.
Hagino: It's definitely different from Changerion, where we could say, "Let's take our time and work on it." I won't be able to make it if I try to wing it. But, if you ask me if I can act in the moment, I can't play the role of a big shot, because I think it wouldn't come off as authentic, but it'll be the best I can do, so it's important to know how much you can work with in such a short period of time.
Kazunari: I think about it alot. When I get a role, I'll think about it for a long time, doing research by watching similar movies, reading books, and so on, then, build up an image. Finally, once on set, adjust it as I see fit.
Hagino: My perception of acting has changed. I'll still watch the videos, and think, "Wow, I really did it~." But, there are also scenes where I'll say, "Oh, I don't think I can do this now." There are so many scenes like that. Although, it's a great opportunity to get into the swing of things, because you end up transforming yourself. The more I got into the rhythm, my surroundings were also in rhythm, so I was able to stay on track. Changerion was a a unique experience, and I don't think I could have done it alone.
Kazunari: The final broadcast was on Christmas, right?
Hagino: For some reason, I don't want to talk about the final episode. It went something like, I drank alot before the shoot and just had alot of fun, since we basically had a day off…
"Does this mean you were having a rough time before the end of the broadcast?"
Hagino: No, no, that's not it. We had about four days off before we started shooting, and I'd never had such a holiday weekend before, so I got alittle too relaxed.
"Does that mean things ended on good terms?"
Hagino: Yeah ❤️, that's how it felt. That's why I don't want to remember.
Kazunari: Like-I-was-say-ing, you…
Hagino: No, no! For me it may be just a past memory, but it's an important one.
Kazunari: Yeah, it was alot of fun.
"Never ending stories and overflowing emotions. I was happy to meet them. Changerion, beyond time…and for all eternity."

In the early Showa period [1926-1940], Paul Jacoulet created new prints full of vivid colors of people living on the islands of the South Seas and in Asia. The exhibition "Paul Jacoulet: New Prints Challenged by Frenchmen" will be held from June 3 to July 26 at the Ota Memorial Museum of Art in Harajuku, Tokyo. I went to Harajuku to enter Yurinan, the Japanese confectionary shop, which sells the Tamagotchi dorayaki again along with the new kohakuto puzzle!! 😋💓
But Yurinan was way too crowded because of the anime event nearby. What's more, the temperature was over 35 degrees in Tokyo. So I finally give up to enter...😭
The dorayaki is in my memory in April 🥲 >> https://www.tumblr.com/tokyodirectdiary/715162076018081792/the-tamagotchi-dorayaki-sandwiches-in-takeshita?source=share

Betty Jane Smith: Before
Below Biju Jie Satō : At the start of her adventure
Tumblr media
A mysterious science group in Japan has come up with an idea to get visitors to Tokyo to stay longer and have a more profound visit at the same time.
They have invented a machine that, at a quantum level, turns foreigners from outside Japan into true citizens of Tokyo physically and mentally for a whole week. Next, they put these machines into vending machines around Toyko (because they also own a snack food company).
Here, we see Betty Jane Smith from Chicago, Illinois, who, to her shock and surprise, has been turned into a Japanese woman who lives on Harajuku Street. What happens next?
Betty Jane Smith, once a Chicagoan, now stands on Harajuku's bustling streets—a bewildering and exhilarating metamorphosis. The quantum machine’s hum still resonates in her ears, its invisible tendrils weaving her essence into the very fabric of Tokyo.
Monday: The Awakening Betty blinks, her eyes adjusting to the neon kaleidoscope. The air smells of sweet crepes and cherry blossoms. She glances down at her transformed self: a Japanese woman with raven hair adorned by an oversized bow. Her kimono whispers secrets of centuries past, threads of tradition woven into its silk.
The locals pass by, unfazed by her sudden appearance. They, too, wear their eccentricities—their neon hair, platform shoes, and glittering accessories. Betty’s heart races. She’s no longer a tourist; she’s a resident. The vending machines beckon, offering matcha lattes and rainbow sodas. She hesitates, then selects a can of sakura-flavored tea. The taste blooms on her tongue—a memory she never had.
Tuesday: Lost in Translation Betty navigates the labyrinthine streets, her Japanese fluency a patchwork quilt of phrases. She stumbles upon a cat café, where feline eyes regard her with ancient wisdom. She orders a latte and pets a calico named Tora. The café owner winks, as if knowing her secret. Betty wonders: Is she the only quantum convert?
Wednesday: Harajuku Fashionista Betty embraces her new identity. She shops at Takeshita Street, donning Lolita dresses and fishnet stockings. Her reflection surprises her—a fusion of Betty and Tokyo’s spirit. She poses for photos with tourists, their smiles genuine. She’s no longer an outsider; she’s part of the Shibuya crossing, a pixel in the city’s heartbeat.
Thursday: Shrine Whispers At Meiji Shrine, Betty prays for clarity. The torii gates frame her uncertainty. She asks the kami: Why her? The wind rustles the sacred trees, and a paper fortune flutters—a mix of kanji and English. “Embrace the ephemeral,” it reads. Betty laughs. She’s living a haiku, seventeen syllables of wonder.
Friday: Neon Dreams Betty dances at a techno club, her pulse synced to the neon strobes. She meets Yuki, a fellow quantum traveler. They share stories over sake—Yuki from Birmingham, Alabama, Betty from Chicago. They laugh about their borrowed lives, the transient magic. Yuki whispers, “We’re stardust, Biju-san. Here today, gone tomorrow.”
Saturday: The Farewell As the week wanes, Betty stands at the quantum machine. Its hum beckons her back to Illinois. She gazes at Harajuku’s lights—their ephemeral brilliance. Yuki hugs her, and they exchange email addresses. “Remember,” Yuki says, “Tokyo lives in you now.”
And so, Betty steps into the quantum stream, her heart a constellation of memories. Chicago awaits, but Tokyo lingers—a neon imprint on her soul. She boards the plane, her bow slightly askew, and whispers, “Sayonara, Harajuku.”
The science group’s experiment succeeded: Betty Jane Smith, once a foreigner, leaves Tokyo as a citizen of dreams.

My Facebook memories reminded my that this documentary on Cosplay, which I wanls in, premiered 11 YEARS AGO.
I watched some of it today and I am amazed at how much cosplay, creation, and sharing our creations has changed. There are materials and technologies now that didn't exist when I started. There was no Worbla, no 3D printers.
Very few companies made products for cosplay -- coloured contacts, coloured wigs better than Halloween quality, sewing patterns, they weren't readily available. You had to binge-shop at Halloween Sales, special order, or go to theatrical supply speciality stores. Or, in my case, all the way to Harajuku.
And TikTok didn't exist. Insta didn't exist. Twitter BARELY existed. The only place to share your costume and carefully rehearsed skits and sketches was during the Masquerade of a convention.
I'm not pining for the past, I want to make that clear. I'm not saying that the way I had to do it, the harder way where you had to carefully pause films and sketch costumes because the resources weren't online and the ability to screencap was limited, was better. I'm not putting a value judgment on it. I'm just saying it was very VERY different.
And I miss cosplay. I'd love to get back into it but I feel intimidated by all these tiktokers and amazing makeup artists. You all have so much talent💜.
Maybe one day...

Masterlist for More Recent Meta
My old essay masterlist was written during the time I was still actively playing Choices, and often went into detail on the diamond scenes of certain characters. But in more recent years, I began writing essays stemming from asks I recieved. I couldn't put them in that masterlist because it was too full by then, and over time all my essays/meta posts became difficult to track. I thought it would be a good time to compile them in a separate place.
Many of these essays were written around 2019-2021, and a lot may have happened since the writing of those. So do understand that some of them were written at a time when the full story was not out, but the arguments behind them often still hold.
I will keep adding to this list as and when I find more essays.

One moment, the world around him is dark and unfeeling, the next- a vibrant explosion of colors overstimulating his visual senses. Was it even possible to taste colors? Similar thoughts flooded his mind as the unsuspecting silhouette fell from the air, landing perfectly on his heels for just a moment before collapsing to his knees from the sudden impact.
“What…?” The newcomer reached out a hand to touch the floor in front of his own eyes, only to pause as he glanced at the skin on his arm- skin? Upon closer observation, he noted that this was indeed not flesh, seeing as it felt like a soft material of sorts. Something… plush…?
His mind couldn’t wrap around the very sensations and sights he was beginning to unravel about his new surroundings. He could feel, only feeling wasn’t like what he’s used to… but what was he used to in the first place? Recollections of feelings for memories he couldn’t quite remember flooded his mind. It suffocated him with an elevating level of anxiety until he just couldn’t sit still any longer.
Answers. He needed answers. Standing up sharply, the newcomer quickly traversed down the halls, wobbling a bit as he tried to regain his balance, uncertain as to why he was having difficulty running let alone running. It was as if the newbie was having to teach himself how to put one foot in front of the other all over again.
“Left, right, left, right…” he’s mumbling to himself, looking down for the most part down at his shoes, not paying the slightest attention to his surroundings, or those nearby his surroundings…

Okay.
I’m turning this one into story time with pictures because my day got even better!
Tumblr media
I make my way over the hill and stop. Just absolutely gutted. The universe has me—and apparently my favourite artist—by the throat. Is it because I’m a Gemini and she’s a Pisces? It is, isn’t it.
So after PVRIS cancel, I make a joke about getting hit by lightning because trying to see my favourite band apparently triggers some sort of ancient curse. I buy some chips, text angrily for a bit, then get over myself and jump into the fray.
Shit happens, right? It’s fine. I’m fine.
I see my partner’s old favourite Enter Shikari, watch a Harajuku-core rock band named Hanabie and sway at the front of Royal & The Serpent. Still feeling crushed, I get into the spirit of things and catch the pick from their guitarist. It also turns out that being a sad girl in neon colours draws event photographers. I have no idea where my photos will end up, only that they’re out there.
Tumblr media
Things are looking up now! I’ve got a pick! I’ve got some churros! There’s even a mobile textline for if you’re feeling unsafe or witness someone being a moron. You’ve got everything you could possibly need for when Fred Durst takes the stage. Just keep on rollin’ baby!
Tumblr media
I spend the next few hours reliving 1999 and knuckling my way to the front for Fall Out Boy. I’ve seen them twice at Soundwave and once at their own Qudos Bank Arena headliner. To be honest, there might be another show buried in there somewhere, but when you get to 30 everything blurs together and time feels fake and strange.
Tdlr; I know what I’m in for. And that’s a cracking good time.
The moment arrives. The fireworks are gathered, the ladders are set, the confetti canons are poised. Fall Out Boy come out with Love From The Other Side, The Phoenix, Sugar We’re Going Down and Uma Thurman. We’re at the front bar dancing with the event staff, the bassist of Royal & The Serpent and the guy over my shoulder who keeps screaming YEAHHH!
And then this flashes up on the screens.
Tumblr media
People are confused.
There’s mumbling, laughing, scoffing. “We don’t care! We’ll get hit by lightning!” The god damn band is confused. They’re being fed the information into their headsets and say something along the lines of—Oh, it’s temporary! We’ll be able to keep playing once everyone’s safe, right?
Right?
Tumblr media
A minute into the next song, they cut it.
Nope! We’ve gotta evacuate. And we’ve gotta evacuate now because the lightning is everywhere and it’s strobing around the field. The site itself is nested in the centre of an entire suburb of fields—a good 25 minute walk from your nearest cover or light rail. Nobody’s laughing. The exodus is weird and swift as up to 20,000 people vacate the show.
It’s a death trap, and I’ve gotta fight my way out after burying myself as deep as possible. I dodge, duck and weave. Some guy stumbles into me and checks if I’m alright. I bounce off someone and check if they’re alright. My inner athletics kid kicks in and I sprint to the rail before the traffic bottlenecks and catches me in the storm.
So that was my Good Things. I made a terrible joke, and it manifested and cut the lights. Thanks for the memories, even if they weren’t so great.
The curse lives on!
