Halo hates showing living quarters or any details about the day to day living situations of their tools but I still lose it every time I remember issue #7 of Escalation puts the Spartan IV bunks into this pullout drawer situation.
Like imagine getting hazed and shoved into the wall. Does that happen?
Why is there so much wasted space on a ship originally meant for colonies? The Infinity was going to be humanity's final hope and it is so poorly laid out. I still love this giant brick but good god.

Subliminal Message of Stealing Halos 👀
Fun fact: The comic strip seen in the background was created by Louis Ralph - Michael Ralph's son - who worked on Good Omens as the concept artist. Michael Ralph, Good Omens Season 2 production designer, commented, “I wanted something in the background that was colorfully loud, dynamic and to contain a message. We take great care in creating subliminal subject matters and meanings for everything on screen so it weaves into the visual fabric of the story we are telling. I asked Louis to have the comic revolve around the horrible crime of stealing halos”.

Trawling Escalation for shitpost reasons has made me reread the Didact bit and John reassigning Blue Team without their knowledge and I just want to pick apart Chief almost dying, not being ready for it, and then also getting the closest to being revenge driven I think we see.
In less than 72 hours since the end of Halo 4 and losing Cortana, Chief takes a stupid amount of risks, is reunited with Blue Team(woo! protective factor!), but doesn’t tell them shit until pressed or forced by the mission (not good!), and nearly kills himself to take down the Didact. Chief doesn’t want to die but the risks he takes and the things he says, the way he acts for the sake of the mission is reckless in a way that isn’t him doing what needs to be done or showing off (there’s no one there to show off for anymore.) He’s self isolating and taking what control he can in the most unhealthy way possible.
Not to look too much into Halo with its level of writing but this Chief is looking to keep going until something makes him stop, and he’s expecting it to be his death.
Panels from Escalation issue #10 below the readmore
John is tired, but more than that I think what we see is a new kind of bitterness and lashing out that is new to his character. He’s tired of failing. He’s so tired and honestly, probably passively suicidal on some level. He doesn’t know how to stop, and if he slows down, everything he isn’t equipped to feel will catch up with him.
