Fanfic ask game 🍷 ❌ 👀 🤩 😬 🎶 ✨!!!! (Hoho! Compliment #2! 😎)

🍷: Why, just this afternoon I had 2/3 of a bottle of wine and solved one of my scene transition woes! I don't always drink and write, but when I do, it goes well for me. It actually solves a common typing woe of mine, which is that my left hand types faster than my right so I waste fewer time having to correct my typos.

❌: I have a hard time ruling tropes out entirely, because it turns out that one of my least favorite to read (Poor Communication Kills) is actually quite fun to put characters through. Plus, there are ways to make it work well. That said, I think I can safely say I won't be doing any Liar Revealed stories because that kind of thing just has too much... tension I guess? Like, I don't want the character's lie to spiral further out of control, I want the character to be honest before it gets to that point. Reading it kinda makes me feel like *I'm* gonna get in trouble for their lie.

👀: Hm... well, a WIP that I haven't started posting yet is a Digimon 02 AU in which Yolei and Cody pick up the opposite DigiEggs and a few different paths are taken because of this. It's turning out far more canon-divergent than I thought it would thus far but it's kinda fun to not constantly be trying to make sure stuff is technically still complying with the show. An example of something that's changed: I'm leaning far more into characterizing Ken as a gamer who just doesn't understand that Digimon are real and his actions have consequences. That is canon, but let's just say Ken's actions lean far more evil than they do uninformed. Nah, Ken just thinks he's in Pokémon.

🤩: My favorite character to write that isn't an OC is TK Takaishi from Digimon. Canon really doesn't take much time to explore his trauma from the first adventure so I sure as heck am gonna. Plus his relationships with everybody else are interesting.

😬: Oh ho ho! I previously mentioned the fic I'm most embarrassed by, which would definitely be the worst for my friends to stumble onto, but they know I write fic so they'd just be like "this sure was a choice y'all made, huh".

My family, on the other hand... I think my dad might know I write fic? It's always really hard to tell with him. I really, really don't want them to find Redacted. Dad would probably enjoy it, actually, but Mom would be very upset by things like swears, the POV character's relationship with her mother (which... yeah, has a bit of basis in reality), and most of all by the fact that I'm not either monetizing my writing or spending the time on more worthwhile pursuits like additional schooling.

(My partner knows I write fic, knows my screenname, but won't look it up which I appreciate because I don't wanna get dunked on for life imitating art ((accidentally made a couple with our mutual pining issues and basically our dynamic years before meeting him)) or for one specific fic me and Em wrote as a teenager...)

...The Adventures of Mary Sue, a fic which would be the most embarrassing thing for my co-workers to find. I would die. We found a fic called How to Make a Very Suckish SYOT and decided to follow its instructions to the letter, and those parts are honestly still funny, but we included holiday specials because we felt guilty over not updating and... yeah. The best thing I can say about those chapters is that one of them got me $20 from my ex-gf for writing something, quote, "worse than My Immortal". My co-workers, fortunately, are all older than me by a significant margin and the one person who isn't would never look for fic, but I can't guarantee they'll never see my account still up on my laptop if I forget to close it before going out on a call, so that's one of my current worst work fears.

🎶: I sure do listen to music! Normally it's my writing playlist or one of my playlists that fits the vibes of the scene I'm working on. Lately I've been listening to 21st Century Breakdown (the album) by Green Day on loop when I feel like looping something because Bowling for Soup was right, I really do be listening to the same shit I listened to in high school.

✨: Now you're killing me, I'm not good with compliments!! Uh... let's see... most of my old humor stuff still makes me laugh when I go back and re-read it so I did something right there!

I'm watching your ass, Mango, I know what you like to do (/lh). A lot of people were sending me their Gradient ocs to the previous Unpleasant account, and as much as I love seeing Gradient ocs and Gradient sonas, I'd love to be able to draw them, and if you are just asking an opinion on them and not an in-character ask or a genuine question involving other gradients I'd much prefer you send them to the account previously tagged!

i did one of these a while back but i'm going to try and work out another 3 random things about myself that i haven't already overshared on the internet (not an easy task!).

1. i'm an oldest sibling, which is very much not the energy i think i give off (i think oldest children seem to have it all together and i have...nothing together lol). i'm always intrigued to know what energy people think i give off though.

2. i keep getting entj on my m/b score which just seems so wrong for me but every time i take the test i get the same thing! i'm definitely an extrovert but thinking instead of feeling?? idk. i don't feel like it's right and yet the test continues to torture me.

3. i've always wanted to get my nose pierced, but my high school boyfriend told me i would look ugly so i never got it and now i work in a profession that won't let me get it so...rip nose ring HAHA

Already answered this, but short answer, it was A Song of Ice and Fire. I kind of stumbled in from writing meta that got increasingly emotional to just straight up writing what I wanted to happen in the next book.

Hm. Suddenly very acutely aware of how much I overshare on here. Uh... I love plant-based food and vegan cooking but I'm also an omnivore. I do think we as a society need to make a significant shift over to plant-based eating and I do think it's actually *easier* than a lot of us think, but unfortunately most of the people leading the charge in our pop culture are either classist, condescending, insane, a grifter, or some combination of the four. And there needs to be significant changes to industrial farming (and a move away from industrial farming) if this kind of mass dietary change is going to have any impact. ...that's not very personal, is it. Anyway, I'm very passionate about chickpeas.

Just got back from a little caving trip with my partner. :) We also visited Crater Lake but that's like... buried under 8 feet of snow right now, haha.

I've been doing children's storytime at the library! Before I start I like to put a little music on. It turns out little kids LOVE the Stardew Valley soundtrack.

Got some eclipse glasses for the eclipse today!!!

Warning, this is a bit of a tangent about my own experiences, so sorry if this is oversharing a bit

I probably should have clarified, I'm not all too worried about Anthy to be honest, I don't know much about her, but I know all those polite smiles she puts on are fake and that fact alone makes me super invested in her character (every time I see a screenshot of her tiny smile I go "haha I do that")

What I'm worried about is the Akiko guy.

Now, this worry mostly stems from where I grew up, that being western Europe, so I don't know if 90's Japan ever held similar beliefs or if the creators of Utuna even considerd this stereotype when writing their story,

But a big thing I kept hearing about growing up was the fear of the 'foreign brown rapist', where some people actually tried to debate me on how "we shouldn't let [brown] immigrant men in or else they'll rape our women"

(of course I'm not saying that brown people can't be sexual abusers but a lot of people who would debate these sorts of things often would ignore accusations against white men)

Of course a lot of this stuff stems from the immigration crisis, so I don't know if at the time and place that Utuna was made if this talking point even existed.

But all of this stuff has been making me worry about how Akiko may fall into this stereotype, and I just wanted to know if he did so when I watched the show I knew what to expect.

Him only being brown because of his connection to Anthy and being more a concept is reassuring however

Also I know this topic is a bit decisive so if you don't feel comfortable answering this ask that is totally fine, I just felt the need to clarify

You raise a good point about the “dark skinned foreigner who’s out to steal (and rape) our women” trope being a weapon for anti immigration white supremacists to keep their power over “their” white women intact. “Keeping away the competition” comes to mind when I think about this kind of people.

However, for all of his connections to the very desi (and therefore foreign) inspired Anthy, Akio is supposed to represent the perfect illusion of a Western Prince. He’s conventionally attractive, drives a luxury car, rides a White Horse, holds a position of authority in the school. He’s not a foreign agent, but a symbol of the system itself.

I wonder how intentional the disconnect between his skin color and what he represents in the story is, but that’s how it turned out.

Hi so (this might be a bit personal) but which AA character do you relate to the most and why?

i love personal questions!!! i miss the era of tumblr where oversharing was cool and people asked me to traumadump. that was so much fun. i'd kill for that level of TMI nowadays OTL

my answer is probably a little redundant. i am kin with franziska but even if i wasn't she is easily the character i relate most to as well haha.

the way i got into ace attorney was i took a uquiz about white haired anime men and ended up getting manfred von karma, and like 40 people messaged me like NO GOOGLE HIS DAUGHTER and then it just kept dogpiling with people comparing me to franziska (i didn't publish any of the asks so all these people sent them in tandem without knowing) and initially i was kind of mad about this because i dislike being compared to mean fictional women by strangers who don't understand me but then all my friends agreed a few years later and tied me to a chair screaming and pointing franziska franziska franziska so i caved and said yes to watching a friend play thru the trilogy.

uhhhh i'm a very passionate and protective person who is quick to anger and a fierce perfectionist. i have a very strong sense of justice and am moved to act on it whenever presented with the opportunity, and i'm very confident and self-assured and unafraid of whatever lies ahead. my ego and inability to comprehend my own fragility will probably get me killed some day but for now i am just enjoying the vibes of being the most powerful creature to ever walk the earth. i am in love with myself and fully believe that though i am inherently unlovable in the eyes of others, i can probably love myself enough that it doesn't matter in the end.

here's some facts about me:

i own an 8 foot bullwhip and have a strict regime of at least 100 cracks a day but i usually try to go for more

the manfred kinnie im friends with got me a riding crop for my birthday last year and it's my #1 stim toy, anyone who's spent time with me in a call will hear me slapping

adopted an older sibling into my family for a while when i was a preteen but i was an incredibly precocious gifted kid so we joked often that she was my little sister

got out of the ER once on an absurd amount of opioids, immediately clocked into work, did not take any more of the pain meds prescribed (they did not work.)

it's so sexy to take breaks and not be a workaholic you should take breaks and sick days and vacations they are so cool and sexy <- 300+ hours of unused accrued sick time at work, took their first vacation ever last year and felt kind of lost and confused for half of it

Damn, ik they're morally gray characters n very popular or infamous choices for such questions, but Snape n Draco, i don't usually like characters that act out the way they do because of whatever negative experiences they've been through, because you always have a choice to not bleed on those who haven't hurt you, but anyhow, i think that their backstories and everything that they do based on them, doesn't make me love em exactly but appreciate them a lil more than others ig. Also, just a blanket answer will be all those side characters in movies or TV shows, that are not exactly villains but are villainized by others on the show or they and their struggles are hidden from the spotlight because they aren't as quirky or likeable as the main character's problems, just makes me love them even more! Also, might be a bias cause i identify as a side character..

nutmeg ⇢ how’s your room/home decorated? do you have a specific theme or style going on?

My room, oh the tragedy, i wanted it to be a subtle dull-ish green, or teal kinda maybe, but it turned out this bonkers paint that i hate now, but anyway, i try to work with it. There's no theme, because i didn't have a room of my own until i was way older and then the prospect of me leaving my parents' home made me think, why even bother decorating.. but yes, as of now, it's just a place i occassionally occupy n has my pride n joy, my bookshelf n my canvases on it and i am a neat freak so i like to organize stuff but ever since my seemingly never ending exams have started n my life decided to go to shit simultaneously, i haven't gotten the chance to clean n organize, but soon i will n it will feel better. (It being me, n also, a bit, the room ig? haha)

Ukw, funnily enough, i don't have a lot of 'tells' especially when I'm sad because i self-isolate, (ik toxic trait, but i feel like i don't wanna burden people with my sadness) so yeah that... But i am quiet mostly when sad n when i feel joyous, i think i hum n sing quite a lot, n take interest in my hobbies again n dance somewhat, but hey that could also be because I'm depressed but I wanna distract myself or procrastinate dealing with it so I just do the happy stuff, fake it till u make it or die amirite? For anger tho, i recently found out, i can't express it healthily, *pause for gasp* n end up screaming, crying (which i hate!!!! Crying when you're angry is horrible!!!!) n actually have very bad symptoms like a racing heartbeat n shortness of breath n have thrown up too, God, I'm oversharing! But yeah, might as well drag the cat that's outta the bag now... (Sorry, no, i still love cats, LIKE A LOT!, Please apologise to your cats, i didn't mean any harm to them)

Ok so this is actually a very geographical joke (The Office reference, the kind of jokes u have to "be there for" hehe) so as i said i have my exams going on rn, n in this one subject we had to study about what makes an entrepreneur... And idk if it was a typo in the notes that we were provided with or what, although i wouldn't put my uni past that, but apparently one of the reasons one can be held back from being an entrepreneur is "not being able to have dreams", now ik they must've meant dreams as in a vision or high ambitions or something... But when me n my friend read it, we just imagined this one person going to sleep every night n waking up disappointed like "Dammit! I was so tired, i straight up went to sleep n i didn't even have a dream! This is why mom was right, i will never amount to anything because i don't see any dreams.." now they didn't even bother to specify what kinda dreams, so it can range from nightmares to fantasies or wet dreams for all we care, but ever since then, whenever there's a problem n we can't find a solution, me n my friend say to each other, "Oh well, this is because we never have dreams man! We can never think outside the box for creative solutions to anything, because we sleep too soundly n dreamlessly"

Ik it's a very, very stupidly silly joke but it gets us cracking each time so ig it works out for us atleast lol..

Our midterm is done and once again heading for a new set of school loads haha. But still, I can't help thinking about our recitation 😭. Yes, I almost cried before the actual time of the graded recitation because I'm too nervous HAHA and overthinking that I might not be able to answer and forgot everything I've read and studied. I actually woke up at 4am for that day although I'm not sure yet if we're going to push through because it's holiday and our prof isn't yet responding hahahah. Well, too much for that. Just look at me while wearing my blindfold during the recitation 🙈. Giniginaw at hindi makagalaw HSHAHAHHA. I guess you understand clearly now why I should really be prepared haha. Thank God I survived ✨️.

to be honest i never looked up the translation of gottasadae before, now i did and it kind of comfirms the impression i had of bewhy 😅 he is very talented and i highly respect him for having created his own style and his rap and music skills. and i enjoy his music! about gottasadae, i assume he really means all that? if i'm very honest, it sounds a bit arrogant. i know it's normal in hiphop to say "i'm the best, you all are losers" or whatever but it's not exactly humble, considering he's using the christian-label - in the same song. i don't know how to not sound mean about all this so i'll leave some quotes 🙈

regarding my own christianity hmm that is hard to summarize but maybe i can say i think it's a good idea to live like jesus says to live? love and support each other (esp ppl who are marginalized and face discrimination) and not hate etc. try to not look down on others (maybe i don't always succeed but i try ok xD) and i don't really see that in these lyrics, so it seems our ideas are a little different. (maybe my idea is oversimplified, i quit church and am not close to any christians except my grandmas so i haven't really been reflecting on it 😅)

moving on to xxx 😂 i realized i really didn’t know them! i thought i had heard of them, but don’t think so. i only started getting into khh in 2019, so most of their music was already released, maybe that’s how i missed them? it sounds very artsy and has a lot of instrumental parts. it’s good / sounds like high quality, but i think i won’t end up listening to them much because it’s not so much my style. still thanks for the recommendation! :) ♥

Hmmm this is harder than it seems haha. But my personal red flag in relationships include:

Too much Water — I have a Water Sun, Moon and Mars with Fire Rising/Venus and I'm the craziest person I've ever met. So I think I need someone with either more Earth or Air to balance me out haha, if not it will just be us two hippies oversharing 24/7 and not being able to acc do anything

Cancer Moon — I ADORE Cancer Moon women. Don't get me wrong. I absolutely adore them. My bestest friend is a Libra Sun Cancer Moon so how can I not fw y'all but it's the straight cis men that I keep attracting for me💀 But only if its Cancer Moon pairing with Leo placements:D Because that Cancer/Leo energy is literally me I don't wanna date someone so similar to me (again) jkkk

Leo Moon — same reason as above. Its like looking into a mirror y'all idk how we gonna work

Scorpio Rising — again. I love the women with this placement and they make me feel so understood and seen. But like. The other 50% of makes that I'm romantically attracted to is scary bro. They do b psycho and my detached ass gets scared so fast

Hello! Idk if I'm being dumb but I need to see if I understood the challenge correctly (this is my first time!! :D)

So basically If I want to try to finish ALL the challenges I have to begin with regular mode, then hard and in the end extreme, right? And in case I wanna just complete the extreme mode I can jump right in with that?

I know these are stupid questions, but I need to be sure lol thanks ❤️

This is a ‘no question is stupid!’ zone, so your question is perfectly acceptable. ☺️

I’ll keep it simple.

You can’t ‘win’ the Extreme badge by doing only the Extreme tasks, same as with Hard Mode. You must do (all) three things for the Extreme badge:

Complete 80% of Regular Mode

Complete 90% of Hard Mode

Complete 95% of Extreme Mode

Now, if there’s a task you really don’t wish to do, take a look at the ‘Swappables’ tab and if you find something you like better, you can swap the tasks, no matter if it’s a regular, hard, or extreme mode task. :) So if there’s an easy-ish task, you can plonk it in the extreme mode tab if you really want haha.

For Hard Mode completion, you need to accomplish both of the following things (and you’ll notice a theme here…)

Complete 80% of Regular Mode

Complete 90% of Hard Mode

For Regular Mode… you guessed it:

Complete 80% of Regular Mode

For the Participant badge, you can complete anywhere from 1 task to 79% of the Regular Mode tasks.

Read at least one fic!

Okay, let's get started:

EDIT- Okay, this took me way too long, lol. I started it a couple days ago and go to the low 20s and then went to make dinner and got distracted after dinner and then watched the game, lol. Then yesterday I got on the computer, saw it and remembered and did a few more and then gave up really quickly because it was HOT AS HELL here yesterday. The humidity was insane. Newfoundland usually has mild weather, but when it is hot (25-30) it is extremely humid and dense. I was in a sports bra and female boxers and was still sweating and my hair sticking to my face and ugh, IT WAS HORRIBLE. So I went in the bedroom and lied down on the cool floor with the fan blasting on me and stayed there for the rest of the night reading lol, and then that brings us to this morning, I finished the last little bit and here you go. Not like anyone is going to read this anyways, I have some pretty long rambling TL;DR answers hahahaha so yeah:

I don't feel like taking a selfie right now lol, besides I left my phone at my computer desk to charge in the living room and I'm on my tablet in bed rn lol

2. what would you name your future kids?

Boys: lol okay so I LOVE the name Gaius (Ancient Roman/ Latin) but noone I tell likes it lol so I'd have to settle for Marcus, a more normal name from ancient Rome. I also LOVE the name Damien, but my mom says it reminds her of the devil lmao. I reallllllly like the names William (not will. Not willy. WILLAIM) & Richard as well, so it'll probably be one of those two because they're the most "normal" haha

Girls: Aeliana (ae is pronounced like ee) Cassia (can call her Cassie), or Saoirse. If I had it my way my daughter would be named Bouddica after the Ancient Briton Warrior who rose up against the Romans 😏😏

3. do you miss anyone?

My mom, brother and dog who are in another province.

4. what are you looking forward to?

Death. Blackness. Peace and Quiet.

Lol. for real tho, Nothing particularly exciting is coming up, so I'm not really looking forward to anything. Probably hiking La Manche this weekend. OH, Game 5 Habs + Vegas! EDIT: Game 6 now!

6. is it hard for you to get over someone?

Hmmm, I mean, it depends. Obviously if I invested a lot into a relationship and it was a pretty good relationship- yes I'd say I have "trouble" getting over someone.

The same as everyone else's. LOL. Stay at home, quarantine lockdown, work from home, lots of Netflix and reading, haha.

8. have you ever cried because you were so annoyed?

YES. Sometimes you just hit your limit (especially after an anxiety ridden day) and any little thing you find annoying will throw you over the edge. I cried once because my boyfriend wouldn't stop snoring lmao. One of many examples.

My boyfriend when he left for work this Morning.

10. are you good at hiding your feelings?

Immaculate. Do I choose not to and overshare sometimes? Lol, yes.

17. opinion on insecurities.

They suck and the confirmation bias (looking around for things that confirm your insecurities, like when you walk past a group of people and share eye contact for a moment and hear them laughing, think "they're laughing at me", etc) that goes along with them suck as well.

18. do you miss how things were a year ago?

No. We were on full lockdown and I was working from home at a job I hated.

No.

20. what is your favourite song at the moment?

At the moment I would have to say "Hallucinogenics" by Matt Maeson ft Lana Del Rey - I've been listening to it A LOT lately. I've also been listening to Anything (Malaa Remix) by Alison Wonderland, Valentino Khan, Malaa a lot recently too haha. It's my go to song when cleaning the past week :)

Ginger, thick wavy hair (I LOVED it when he had it longer, like "hockey flow" with his "beard" (lmao he cant grow one, he has like a short stubble beard i guess) Chubby (dad bod <3) but has Big Muscular Arms (MY FAV in a man).

He's also DUMB AS SHITTTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lmao, well. He's actually fairly intelligent when it comes to numbers, patterns, etc. He's like a damn calculator, like he would literally be able to figure out a random equation like 491x596 in the same amount of time it would take me to put it in a calculator, kinda crazy sometimes lmao. THOUGH HE DUMB AS SHIT WHEN IT COMES TO COMMON SENSE SHIT AND WOMEN AND RELATIONSHIPS and like abstract theories and shit haha.

Kind. Like. Too kind sometimes. When we "fight", I always feel like a piece of shit because I'm after getting heated (CAUSE HE DUMB!!!!!!! :') ) and raising my voice, saying some not so nice things (he describes me as "ruthless" lol) and he NEVER raises his voice back or gets heated back. It's extremely rare. Which, in the moment annoys me because I feel like my energy needs to be matched and he isn't taking me or the situation seriously, but afterwards I appreciate it because I know the reason he doesn't is because before him, I was in a pretty abusive relationship mentally and physically, and I also have PTSD from situations that occured while I was homeless & a drug addict, so sometimes men getting angry with me triggers a panic attack or tramautic memories, and he literally doesn't raise his voice back or get angry because he never wants me to perceive him that way or inadverently scare me. So I do appreciate it.

Funny. In such a stupid way, you have no choice but to laugh at how stupid his humour is. (Like superbad, Step Brothers, etc ahah)

I actually don't have many fears, and I think that's attributed to the fact that I have seen/experienced some traumatic things and I've just become desensitized I guess. I would say my fears are things that fairly improbable and silly. Like a plane crash and dying in burning flames, or a ship sinking and being trapped inside and slowly waiting for the water to come in and drown me. Fear of dying in a painful way, I guess. That's pretty evoluntionarily normal for any human though haha.

5'2 and a bit, pretty much 5'3. My DL says 5'3.

I don't really have a role model. I don't really "look up" to anyone enough to model myself after them. There are people I admire, which leads us to the next question.

I don't "hate" much. Humanity, I guess. More so Humanity's ability to be ineradicable violent and then use a "higher goal" ( For God, for "protecting" our country, etc) as a justification to keep recoursing to brutality. Humanity is also extremely self-righteous. We are constantly creating a reason about why it was right for us to do what we did and why we are victims rather than perpetrators. We ignore self-examination and our moments of guilt and atonement might amount to no more than half an hour across a lifetime for some people. We're envious and greedy, ignoring empathy for richness. We can be unbelievably cruel. We can be extremely close-minded. We are moral hypocrites.

I also love humanity as well. The ability to overcome the things above. Empathy. Kindness. Intelligence that will send us out into the far reaching corners of space if we let ourselves. Our resilience. We are the most remarkable species on earth, how far we have come in the short time since we evolved from our ape ancestors and climbed down from the trees and emerged from our caves, setting off on creating Civilization, Society, Technology, etc. The speed at which we advanced and the things we have overcome in the past shows our ability as a Species. The past 100 years alone we have advanced more technologically than the 500 years combined before

1-Ancient Romans would sometimes fill up a Colosseum with water for a simulated sea battle. These simulated battles were called "naumachia". Nero held one in an amphitheater with actual marine creatures as well.

2-There are an estimated 2 trillion galaxies (each galaxy with an average of 100 billion stars) in the Observable Universe. That's 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 stars (24 zeroes) Astronomers say this is likely a gross underestimation as well. lol.

3- If we found a way to release the energy of a singular human body (aka explode) the explosion would wipe out the earth (render it uninhabitable). So yeah, the human body contains significantly more energy (potential) than a hydrogen bomb.
