Seymour: [Croaky voice] My sisters love me now, but oh, Persy sure wasn't too thrilled to have me as her baby brother back in those days! [Soft chuckle] She wanted me dead.
Tycho: No, I'm sure she was just adjusting.
Tumblr media
Coraleye: Yeah! I bet it all changed for her when she saw your handsome little face.
Seymour: It took her some time to warm up to me. Even then the little shit preferred her animals and imaginary friends.
Coraleye: [Smiles] Uncle Bo...
Tumblr media
Kirsten: And she wasn't even the one they considered "troubled." Gwendolyn, now that's the one they had to watch out for...
Gwendolyn Darling
Tumblr media
Mr. and Mrs. Darling often wondered what kind of personality —if any— Gwendolyn would have developed if it weren't for the invention of the modern television. Her entire demeanor was made up of pieces of tidbits she collected from her time spent in front of the screen.
Tumblr media
Despite the children from school finding her rather strange, Gwendolyn navigated social settings with ease. She'd smile like a dazzling silver screen starlet, and crack jokes like a beloved gameshow host.
Persephone Darling
Tumblr media
Persephone was a very grumpy and irritable child. often opting to keep to herself due to her crippling social awkwardness. As Seymour explained, her only real friends were creatures with feathers or four legs, as well as those conjured by her imagination. But where she lacked in cheerfulness, she made up for in athleticism and harbored a profound passion for animals. Persephone maintained an active lifestyle and found enjoyment in a variety of sports, spanning from swimming and ball games to the art of ballet.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As Seymour's due date drew closer, a knock on the door followed by the family dog barking madly signaled an unexpected visit from Agnes's nephew, Mortimer—a visit undoubtedly orchestrated by Cornelia. As if he were being forced to recite the offer against his will, Mortimer reluctantly extended his services to babysit the girls, as her days grew busier with a new baby. Agnes appreciated the offer and could've certainly used his help, but she knew well that Mortimer, being a teenage boy, would likely rather be off doing something else, rather than tasked with keeping an eye on his younger cousins.
Tumblr media
Agnes remembered back to her sister Cornelia's assertion that Mortimer's best friend, Bella Bachelor, was beginning to "smile at him in a different way now." Struck with a clever idea, Agnes proposed a deal to Mortimer: If he would be willing to babysit the girls and take good care of them during her labor and the early days with the new baby, he could bring Bella along to assist him. Considering his mother didn't allow him and Bella to be alone anymore, Mortimer lit up like a lightbulb, and eagerly accepted. He did request, however, that Agnes not mention Bella's involvement in this arrangement to his mother.
Tumblr media
And it sure was lucky the Darlings got a babysitter just in time, for not long after, in the early hours of the morning at 4:27 AM, on All Hallow's Eve, the Darlings welcomed a bouncing baby boy with little babydoll eyes. They held him close, celebrating the first happy birthday of many more to come.

deep water, thin air
"Please, please. I am yours. Your slave. Anything you ask for... anything at all is yours. You have only to say the word, Gwendolyn." "Anything?" He nodded, but he was a radical. His cruel ideas would never lay to rest. "I wish... I wish I could believe that, sir. But your love for your ideals far outweighs the fondness you have for me. So I will ask you this. Tell me truly. Did you ever love me? Was any of it real?" She wished, as he faltered, that what she did next was solely in defense of her people. If only her scorned heart had nothing to do with it. But she would, for the rest of her long life, always wonder. Mortimer couldn't answer her straightaway. Instead, he gave her that half-smile she had always found so charming. It was enough of an answer all on its own, enough for her to push him, hard. He stumbled back against the rail of the bridge. But the real shock did not show on his face until she spoke again. "I will wipe the slate clean. The magic in my family dies with me." Mortimer laughed as if she couldn't be serious. But the sound died when she did not join in. "Gwen..." His voice was stern. She had to be quick about the enchantment, or he would charm her all over again. "Into the waters you shall go, To lands of neither friend nor foe, In this domain, death shall not find, and you'll be king of magickind, Barred from this plane, no door to see, Unless wronged souls empower thee." No regrets, she decided. Then, with all her strength she shoved him into the moat below.

For the "ultimate ship meme", Bella and Mortimer Goth please :)
Hullo, uhhh this is going to be interesting i’ve never though much about them
Rate the Ship
Awful | Ew | No pics pls | I’m not comfortable | Alright | I like it! | Got Pics? | Let’s do it! | Why is this not getting more attention?! | The OTP to rule all other OTPs
How long will they last? Until she disapears, Mortimer dies waiting for her return.
How quickly did/will they fall in love? This is so dull but they give me this teen movie vibe where the two of them are moping for each other then one day Mortimer gets jelly bc of Bella getting attention from other random boys so he goes there and makes a foul of himself while he declares his love. typical Friends to lovers, green eyed epiphany, goth boy, hot weird girl haha.
How was their first kiss? Gross, bc it was during  middle school and it felt like kissing a dog (in the case of Mortimer) and a brother (for Bella), and people where watching. Don’t ask them!
Wedding:
Who proposed? Bella hinted everything and so Mortimer did what she said, so it was kind of her?
Who is the best man/men? Michael ofc.
Who is the braid’s maid(s)? As I picture Montys (from Isabella’s side or Pantalone’s side idk) and Bachelors being distant family (like third cousins or something) i see Bianca being Bella’s braidsmaid given that she didn’t have girlfriends or someone closer and Mary-Sue was very young for that.
Who did the most planning? Bella
Who stressed the most? Mortimer bc his mom wanted something totally different from everything Bella picked for the wedding.  “Pork chops, Mortimer? What are you? a peasant?”
How fancy was the ceremony? -
Back of a pickup truck | 2 | 3 | 4 | Normal Church Wedding | 6 | 7 | 8 | 9 | Kate and William wish they were this big.
Who was specifically not invited to the wedding? I don’t know, i don’t think they wouldn’t invite someone?
Sex:
Who is on top? Uhhhhh
Who is the one to instigate things? Bella
How healthy is their sex life? -
Barely touch themselves let alone each other | 2 | 3 | 4 | Once a couple weeks, nothing overboard | 6 | 7 | 8 | 9 | They are humping each other on the couch right now
How kinky are they? -
Straight missionary with the lights off | 2 | 3 | 4 | Might try some butt stuff and toys | 6 | 7 | 8 | 9 | Don’t go into the sex dungeon without a horse’s head.
SIDE NOTE: Do you remember that meme of Mortimer Goth on the street but Don Lothario on the sheets, yeah, don’t believe that.
How long do they normally last? Well they don’t have so much free time so, whenever they can do it and they take their time to pamper each other, so yeah depends.
Do they make sure each person gets an equal amount of orgasms? Yes, that’s their secret.
How rough are they in bed?
Softer than a butterfly on the back of a bunny | 2 | 3 | 4 | The bed’s shaking and squeaking every time | 6 | 7 | 8 | 9 | Their dirty talk is so vulgar it’d make Dwayne Johnson blush. Also, the wall’s so weak it could collapse the next time they do it.
SIDE NOTE: Now, it doesn’t matter how kinky they’re being they always speak to each other like they’re being soft.
How much cuddling/snuggling do they do?
No touching after sex | 2 | 3 | 4 | A little spooning at night, or on the couch, but not in public | 6 | 7 | 8 | 9 | They snuggle and kiss more often than a teen couple on their fifth date to a pillow factory.
Children:
How many children will they have naturally? One, Cassie’s the one and only for me, Alexander is just a mistake.
How many children will they adopt? None
Who gets stuck with the most diapers? Mortimer.
Who is the stricter parent? Bella.
Who stops the kid(s) from doing dangerous stunts after school? No one, both of them think that kids have to have their own experiences from the world.
Who remembers to pack the lunch(es)? Bella.
Who is the more loved parent? Mortimer because he’s always teaching them many cool stuff in his laboratory.
Who is more likely to attend the PTA meetings? Bella, she’s the Gwendolyn from Pleasantview.
Who cried the most at graduation? Mortimer ofc.
Who is more likely to bail the child(ren) out of trouble with the law? Mortimer
Cooking:
Who does the most cooking? Mortimer because he finds cooking extremely pleasant and also likes to compare it with chemistry.
Who is the most picky in their food choice? No one, they could literaly eat anything, great taste for food.
Who does the grocery shopping? Bella, she took it as a sport.
How often do they bake desserts? Whenever someone on the household achieve something.
Are they more of a meat lover or a salad eater? None of that, they just enjoy food.
Who is more likely to surprise the other(s) with an anniversary dinner?  Bella, but more like a party-dinner anniversary
Who is more likely to suggest going out? Also Bella.
Who is more likely to burn the house down accidently while cooking? Mortimer ofc but not quite accidentaly.
Chores:
Who cleans the room? The maid :)
Who is really against chores? Bella
Who cleans up after the pets? the maid again.
Who is more likely to sweep everything under the rug? Mortimer when the maid calls in sick and they have people over (like every night)
Who stresses the most when guests are coming over? Mortimer, Bella just looks like the trophy wife all the time but really doesn’t do much.
Who found a dollar between the couch cushions while cleaning? Bella.
Misc:
Who takes the longer showers/baths? Both of tthem at the end of the day they try to spend at least an hour in their bath tube speaking of their day.
Who takes the dog out for a walk? Bella.
How often do they decorate the room/house for the holidays? Every damn holiday, even the ones that are not that important.
What are their goals for the relationship? —- (I never know how to answer this)
Who is most likely to sleep till noon? Mortimer, after accidentally swallowing a pill he was developing.
Who plays the most pranks? Bella :3
uh, this was fun, thank you so much! also thank you for the follow and if something is bad written im sorry bc day after day i forget how to writte things.

Love Day- Night
Mortimer agreed to babysit his baby cousins for an overnight stay so that Mr. and Mrs. Darling could get some alone time— well, almost alone time. His aunt Agnes would never leave little Seymour with Mortimer, not when he's this little, anyway.
Mortimer was incredibly eager to accompany his best friend Bella Bachelor to the Love Day Ball at School that night. After his parents went to bed, he dutifully tucked the Darling sisters into the oversized bed in the Goth Family vacant guest bedroom, where they'd be merrily snoring away when he and Bella returned from the dance. Or so he thought...
Tumblr media
Seated on the staircase in the Goth Family Foyer, a room that Bella Goth had remembered so fondly before she disappeared, Mortimer was softly humming a longing tune that still lingered in his head from the school dance: 'So This Is Love...' he continued to hum, courageously looking her right in the eye.
She blushed wildly and averted her gaze.
"Too bad we couldn't sit outside and enjoy the stars," She mused. "I didn't think it'd be this cold tonight..."
Tumblr media
Mortimer gazed deeply into her amber eyes, " The stars don’t shine half as bright as your eyes!"
She giggled, "Mortimer!" "Bella... I wanted to tell-ya... I think I like you lots." "I like you lots too, Morty. I think you're swell. What's the big picture?"
Mortimer's eyes darted quickly at her lips, "Bella, I think I oughta be your fella!" He grinned. "Mortimer, you're a real smooth talker," Bella chuckled, her cheeks flushing slightly. "You must've practiced that one." "You bet I did." She looked up at him, batting her eyes, "I... don't suppose you practiced a first kiss?"
Mortimer's eyes widened, and he froze, his little shadows in the room mimicking his reaction.

For @elfpuddle, @nimitwinklesims, @fuzzyspork, @penig, @clericalrodent, @0201-sims, and @pixelated-world.

Looking forward to seeing pics of invisible cars driving through your Amish 'hood at night on those invisible roads. Those creepy headlights will be just the thing they needed, I'm sure!
LOL. Luckily for these “Amish,” I modded out neighborhood-view traffic in my main playing user account because it bugs me. So, no mysterious lights randomly zipping around the area.
nimitwinklesims replied to your photoset “Screwing around with a completely roadless neighborhood. Well, OK, it...”
Those winding roads look reallllly nice!
It’s a really nice set. Easy to place (not too fiddly, like I find a lot of small neighborhood deco to be), a good number of shapes to mix and match, AND they don’t float when viewed in lot view. Kudos to Criquette! :)  I kind of went all zen when I was “building” the roads. It was quite meditative and it was fun to create the shapes. I’m looking forward to building the “road network” as the neighborhood grows.
fuzzyspork replied to your photo “Yeah, you know, I’d be freaked out if I was looking through my...”
Maybe she's looking into the past. :P I don't know what the criteria for the Spy On Guy is. Mine starts as the first sim to move into the 'hood, or the oldest one. Sometimes is changes before that sim is dead to one I've played more (with more memories/relationships? or maybe that reputation thing has something to do with it, idk)
Now that’d be a neat trick! Yet it also makes an odd kind of sense. Whenever a telescope is used to look at objects many light-years away in space, it’s seeing that thing as it was dozens or hundreds or thousands or millions of years ago, after all. Doesn’t quite work the same way when you’re just spying on your neighbors, of course, but...Details. Don’t bother me with details. :)
In any case, I think the Spy On Guy is determined by instance number, meaning the playable that was created first in the neighborhood is The One, initially. Which is why it’s always Mortimer Goth when you play Pleasantview or any subhood attached to it. For this neighborhood, since it has no premades, it was Goopy, who was a clone of the original townie. From there, I don’t know how the game determines who the next one will be. If it just goes down the list in order... Sandy was the second playable created, but she’s dead, too. Steven was the next...also dead. After that, it was Gwendolyn, so it SHOULD be her being spied on, but...apparently not!
penig replied to your photo “Owen made sparkly mac ‘n cheese (because Andrew wanted it)…and...”
Why not? It's in his house, therefore it is his food. He's very generous to share it with humans.
Indeed he is. :) They’re lucky he needs human servants or he very well might kick them all out. :)
penig replied to your photo “Yeah, you know, I’d be freaked out if I was looking through my...”
They normally do. In Drama Acres it was Peter Ottomas, but now that he and Sam are dead it's David. That's weird.
Yeah, after giving it further thought, I think it’s just in this neighborhood where it hasn’t switched to someone else. This neighborhood does have its odd quirks. I think it’s because it was originally made on my old Simming computer that got zapped. It does funky things on occasion.
clericalrodent replied to your post “Replies about skies and Halloween. :)”
Yup, two. Mardipäev in 10.nov and Kadripäev in 25. nov. They're kinda similar to Halloween, but have key differences. You dress up (as a dark man for Mart, light woman for Kadri), go around the town asking for entrance (in song), then entertain the family and bless their household in exchange for treats.
Ahhhh, so it’s kind of like Christmas caroling, then...which is also a dying/dead thing here in the US. (Sadly. It was one of my favorite things about Xmas when I was growing up. My family and some of their friends and all us kids used to do it as a group every year, and it was so much fun.) It’s cool that you get two occasions to do it!
0201-sims replied to your post “Replies about skies and Halloween. :)”
Oh, and I don't mind teens trick-or-treating. I did as a teen because I didn't want to give up the fun, but they have to be in a proper costume. If they're just going around trying to mooch candy off people - no way! We don't give them any. ;D
I think there should be some kind of generally-accepted age cut-off for trick-or-treating. 14, maybe. After that, go to parties or parades or something in your costume, but leave the door-to-door candy-begging for the younger ones. :) I’ve seen older kids harassing younger ones out on Halloween, and it...irritates me. And I’ve been known to kick bully ass, so...yeah. :)
0201-sims replied to your post “Replies about skies and Halloween. :)”
Here in the Midwest trick-or-treating is very much alive! My family buys a few big bags of candy and we always run out before the night's over. My neighborhood is in a pretty blighted part of the city though it's managed to stay fairly safe and well-maintained so I think a lot of families come from nearby neighborhoods to trick-or-treat in my area! :D
I’m glad to hear it’s still going on there. In the area(s) where I live, it seems most people take their kids to malls to trick-or-treat these days...although since malls are dying, too, I’m not sure what they’ll do. ;) Or maybe it’s just not as big of thing out in the west? I dunno... When I was growing up in northeastern Indiana, it was definitely a thing, even though I lived in less-densely-populated farmland. I never went out, myself, but the local kids generally went into nearby towns, driven in in groups by parents who had trucks/vans/station wagons. But, y’know, that was like 45 years ago, so... :)
pixelated-world replied to your post “Sometimes I think I’m the only person in the world (or at least the...”
It's also creeping its way in France, which is weird because people don't really celebrate it, it's more about the supermarkets trying to sell candies and other stuff like house decorations... On the same way, I just hate that shops are now doing the Black Friday thing, because as I see it it's typically American (the day after Thanksgiving) and it should stay this way. But Autumn is awesome, best season ever !
Ohhhhh, don’t get me started on the commercialization of Christmas. It’s just...so, SO out of alignment with Jesus’s teachings that it makes my heart hurt. The Black Friday thing is just an outgrowth of that cancer, IMO. But I’ll stop there. :) I’m kind of surprised that Halloween isn’t generally celebrated in France, though, in that France was at one time an area populated by Celts, and the Halloween thing of costumes and trick-or-treating does have its roots in the Celtic festival of Samhain and its mumming and such...although it, too, has been greatly bastardized and commercialized, of course. Perhaps that’s why it’s not so popular in France. French folks don’t strike me as people who appreciate American-style gross (in many senses of the word) consumerism and commercialization. :P

Businesses & Locations of Green Grove, New York.
Dining & Drinking
Wallflower Diner
The most popular eatery in town...more out of accessibility and convenience than quality meals. Open day and night, even on holidays, the Wallflower serves mediocre coffee, poor dishes, but surprisingly excellent desserts (especially pies). A frequent destination for locals and college students alike.
Important Non-Player Characters: Gwendolyn Marsh; a local who has worked in the diner since she was a teenager, Gwen, sometimes called “Old Gwen” by those who are out of her hearing range, is seen as a staple member of the community. No-nonsense and blunt, especially with younger customers, she is thought to have a strange, aunt-like, charm by many. She was said to be married once; rumors and speculation about the fate of Jared Marsh are a popular pastime about Green Grove.
Employed Player Characters: None.
O’Sullivan Inn
A bar for locals, where cheap drinks and greasy foods are the main draw for its regular customers. University students have recently begun to flock to the bar, however, because of their loose policy of checking IDs at the door. Known typically as “O’Sullivan’s” or “the Inn”.
Important Non-Player Characters: None.
Employed Player Characters: None.
Riverside Bar & Grill
A restaurant by day, moderately popular but too expensive for many locals, that is fully transformed into Green Grove’s most popular bar by night. Well-lit and with talented staff, both on the floor and at the bar, Riverside has only become more popular with the vast influx of college-aged visitors. Its namesake scenic quality is an outdoor deck right next to the river.
Important Non-Player Characters: None.
Education
Academy of Holy Names
A private Catholic school that teaches students from preschool age until eighth grade. With a student population of barely over one hundred, the financial stability, and continued enrollment, of the school has been a subject of great discussion among the community.
Important Non-Player Characters:
Player Character Staff Members:
Player Character Students:
Byrnes University
A private Liberal Arts university that was founded in 2010, after over a decade of controversy and deliberation by the town, Byrnes University has filled the town with newcomers from across the state of New York. Its a multidisciplinary institution, with a wide-range of student opportunities on campus. Local businesses offer many deals for students, especially for dining and shopping. The college has its own radio station, locally, and does many fundraisers (especially with the assistance of its fraternities and sororities).
Important Non-Player Characters: None.
Player Character Staff Members: None.
Player Character Students:None.
Green Grove High School
The public school for ninth to twelfth grade; Green Grove High School has struggled to retain many of its students until graduation. It has a graduation rate of less than sixty percent. Its focus has always been on athletics over academics; baseball and swimming, in particular, have been regional champions of multiple years.
Important Non-Player Characters: None.
Player Character Staff Members: None.
Player Character Students: Abigail Aldon.
The Park School
A preschool to eighth grade Public school, and the formerly-most populated educational facility in town (before Byrnes University was created). Named for its close proximity to Abraham Park.
Important Non-Player Characters: None.
Player Character Staff Members: None.
Player Character Students: Isaac Aldon, Ruth Aldon.
Entertainment
Bright Star Theater
A movie theater that has been in operation since 1978.
Important Non-Player Characters: Silas Patterson; the aged owner of the theater who bought it out in 1991. Presentable and polite only as long as it benefits him; he’s curt and standoffish to his employees. He’s recently begun to fire old employees, with a scheme to attract new customers with a staff of college age girls from the university.
Employed Player Characters: None.
Public Facilities
Abraham Park
The biggest, and only, public park in town. Many of Green Grove’s community members have addressed its lack of attention and restoration in the past years. The playground is filled with overgrown weeds and rusted equipment. The baseball diamond and soccer fields are just as rundown. The only well-kept part of the park is the walkway, which provides a jogging path past the line of the woods and along the river.
Important Non-Player Characters: None.
Employed Player Characters: None.
Green Grove Public Library
An old building, “updated” in the 1950′s, that services that local community. Supported by largely donations from the Green Grove Wildlife Conservation Society and anonymous citizens, the library is utilized for numerous after school programs and community meetings. It is one of the few places in Green Grove that has decent wireless connection to the internet.
Important Non-Player Characters: Wendy Albrecht; the head librarian and current operator of the library, since 1998. Observant and patient, eager to help her employees and visitors alike, Wendy is married entirely to her profession. Rumors persist that she sold her home to keep the library well-supported, and that she sleeps in her office. This seems at odds with her apartment in town. She’s also a respected researcher and member of the Wildlife Conservation Society.
Employed Player Characters: Martha J. Reynolds (librarian).
Religion
Holy Blood Church
A conservative and secretive church that is largely composed of the same niche of elderly townspeople who have been in attendance for decades. Gossipy and petty, the only thing keeping the old church supported is the hefty donations from its insular community.
Important Non-Player Characters: Father Mortimer; an elderly priest in his early seventies, Father Mortimer, always referred to with his religious title, is utterly uncompromising. Bigoted and hateful, he preaches nothing but contempt towards the “sinful” society of modern America. A fire and brimstone preacher, he has attracted his loyal flock and cares little for those outside of it.
Player Character Employees: None.
Player Character members: None.
Saint Cassian Church
A moderate religious institution and the most popular church in the community of Green Grove. Involved in frequent fundraisers and efforts throughout town, especially food drives, Saint Cassian Church has a good reputation among most of the population. Its donations are abundant; its staff members are spirited.
Important Non-Player Characters: Father Nelson; the religious head of the church, Father Nelson initially served in New York City before he moved to the upstate community over thirty years ago. Both personable and professional, adept at both the religious and administrative components of his station, Nelson is always ready to help someone in need.
Player Character Employees: None.
Player Character members: Geoffrey Morris (church member).
Other
Bits and Pieces
The local computer repair and parts store. Formerly at risk of closing down, because of its infrequent transactions and lack of clientele, the arrival of the university has caused a boom in sales and services.
Important Non-Player Characters: None.
Employed Player Characters: Geoffrey Morris (computer technician and network consultant).
