Gold runs a pokemon daycare. He discovered that he had a knack for hatching pokemon when he was young and decided that owning his own daycare would be his dream.

So then at the age of 15, with a loan from his mom (and winning some pokemon battles), Gold opens up his daycare in his own two floor house.

The first floor is mostly for the pokemon while the second floor acts as his own house. Gold chose a mostly open house plan with traditional sliding doors. The only wooden doors he has is if he needs to lock stuff up.

Gold was able to pay back his mom in about half a year thanks to the success of his daycare. He's known for helping to hatch and raise young pokemon that high-level trainers used. All of the Johto gym leaders have at least on of the pokemon that Gold helped to hatch.

After two years of working at his daycare some interesting people start to show up. First is this red haired guy who challenges Gold to a battle and it ends in a tie. He then declares that Gold should go on a journey to get stronger.

Gold refuses and gets back to his work.

The next person to show up is a black haired girl who stumbled into his garden (which is about the size of a park to help hold and keep pokemon happy) and tries catch some pokemon. She didn't realize till the pokeball didn't work that they were all caught pokemon. She apologized and asked for a battle from Gold. She also tied with Gold and went to catch more pokemon. She tells Gold to go on a journey so that she can see whatever new pokemon he catches. Gold laughs and says that he is fine with his daycare.

Eventually some famous trainers from Kanto (the original 4 from pokemon adventures) come to Gold's daycare and look around. The guy in a blue shirt eventually pulls out a egg covered in blue and red triangles. He then leaves it for Gold and days that a pokemon professor wanted him to have it. Gold battles a couple of the trainers but no decisive winner was declared that day.

An old man comes by sometimes to check on the pokemon that Gold has and to make sure that they are all healthy. After he departs Gold notices a red device had been left behind on his counter.

Gold assumes that the old man had left it behind on accident and goes to find him. He starts going city to city, but he always seems to miss the old man at the last minute.

Gold hisres a couple people to watch his daycare while he looks for the old man to retire the device. He accidently turns it on and finds out that it is an information device about pokemon.

Gold eventually meets up with the other trainers and helps them with some big plot. At the end he tries to return the device but the professor just gives it back to him and says that he meant for Gold to keep it.

Gold's team is Expo the Typlosian, Aibo the Ambipom, Polibo the Politoed, and Togebo the Togekiss.

Maybe he catches some pokemon he doesn't have in the manga?

Gold eventually returns to his daycare but now has more friends and a lot of pokemon eggs to hatch.
