from the museum to your wardrobe
hello!
i’m natasha and i design and make jewellery inspired by the ancient mediterranean world at plato’s fire. i studied classics at the university of st andrews and have been making jewellery since 2016!
my aim is to combine ancient aesthetics with modern materials. my first collections have been inspired by greek vases, mediterranean goldsmiths, and minoan frescoes. each piece is cut out using laser-cutting technology, then painstakingly glued, assembled, and polished by me in my home studio in scotland!
please feel free to send me asks about my work, about the ancient mediterranean, or just scream at me in my inbox about your favourite ancient greek! ✨💛

After all those asks about Calliope and Sindri, I knew it was time to finally draw them! I don’t really have a particular scene in mind for the first sketch; it could be their first meeting, or they’re talking about Atreus, etc. I used Sindri’s “this is what sorry looks like” face as a reference, but softened it since it’s Calliope here, not her brother loll
But as for the second sketch, I had this idea where Calliope becomes an apprentice to one of the Giants and learns how to make pottery as a hobby! She recreates Greek vases, and ends up making a hydria for Sindri (but she wasn’t able to get the handles working, so she left them out loll). She also commemorates their friendship on the hydria by painting herself and Sindri together! :’’’’D
This was also inspired by my Greek vase-styled painting of Atreus and Calliope! I thought it’d be really sweet to translate that somehow into the story, and Calliope seemed like the best person to take it on XDD

MEDOUSA 🏺🐍
The Gorgones were depicted in ancient Greek vase painting and sculpture as winged women with broad, round heads, serpentine locks of hair, large staring eyes, wide mouths, lolling tongues, the tusks of swine, flared nostrils, and sometimes short, coarse beards [...]

Ancient Greek mermaid. The design is loosely based on a krater from the Getty museum which shows the abduction of Europa, with the monster Scylla and Triton flanking the central motive. This is one of the few "mermaid" depictions we have from Ancient Greece.

I wanted to draw more of Atreus and Calliope for my God of War AU, and I thought, why not experiment with the Greek vase style? XDD All in all, it was a very fun challenge!
Story-wise, I wasn’t quite sure at first where this would appear in their adventure ... But now I’m thinking it’s when they return to Greece, sometime after Atreus gets Calliope out of the Underworld. Hence the sad looks on their faces -- Calliope has bittersweet memories of her homeland, and she’s formed a bond with Atreus at this point, so she sticks close to him.
About character design, I adjusted Calliope’s clothing to look more like a chiton, while keeping the spirit of her original look. Atreus’ clothing is a loose mix of his game design and Greek clothing, but his red sash is from Kratos! I have a whole headcanon about this loll Here it is:
So the red cloth Kratos wore in the old games was used to wrap the Blades of Chaos in the 2018 game, but since the Blades are now displayed openly in Ragnarok, Atreus gets to wear the red cloth -- which he does in his Ragnarok model! It’s hidden under that leather waist-wrap thing, but you can see the tail-end of the sash, and the yellow pattern along the hem. I just love that detail so much, it’s so sweet! XDDD

Galadriel
Based on an Attic red figure oinochoe (wine jug), attributed to the the Brussels oinochoai painter, c. 450 BCE. Louvre museum.
I did this painting to accompany an article by MirienSilowende for @silmarillionwritersguild on "Galadriel: Parallels among Women in History and Literature." Give the article a read!
