After our dinner and grocery shopping, was on the way out of the shopping mall when I remembered that I have accumulated enough stamps to redeem a S$3.50 cup of dessert from Nine Fresh (九鲜). I picked the Nine Fresh Signature (九鲜招牌) with mixed bean curd and grass jelly base topped with red bean, green bean, pinto bean, peanut and taro (yam) balls. The staff asked if I want soft or hard peanuts. Soft means stewed peanuts and hard is roasted peanuts. I am glad I went for the latter as the crunchy texture complemented the soft and silky bean curd and grass jelly well.

Mum got the Grass Jelly Special (黑糖芦荟仙草冻) with grass jelly base and topped with aloe vera pearl jelly, black sugar jelly dice, milk ball and taro (yam) balls. She also requested for sweeten red beans (+S$0.70) to be added so it’s S$3.50 in total and I get another stamp added to the rewards card.

HAHAHA back at Richmond Night Market with bf again so we can finish eating what we weren't able to eat last time. Went through the whole thing in one hour (so ZOOM... took us almost 4 hours last week LOL). I got to eat grape tanghulu, panda grass jelly/taro balls dessert, and black pepper beef egg burger. Tanghulu was my favourite!! Got full so fast again... it always happens RIP. But yums!!!!! No regrets.

Grass Jelly Tofu Flower (豆腐花) Hong Kong Milk Tea?!
Location: Kwong Fong Yuen
Price: Yeema bought it
I’ve never heard of tofu flower milk tea before and once I did, it was like the gates of epiphany opened and I immediately had to try it. Listen. Tofu flower by itself is usually quite plain in flavour, and you need to add syrup to it for true joy to unlock. Think of it as the stones that pave the path to happiness. Grass jelly milk tea is sweet. You’re basically drinking tofu flower in an ocean of milk tea syrup. Nectar of the gods. The tofu is not only able to stand its ground, but also, somehow, or maybe I’m just tasting things, manages to tone the sweetness of the milk tea down to refrain from being overwhelming. The herbal taste of grass jelly provides hints of forest green flavours that complements the sweetness of tofu absorbed from the tea. Everything combines into a harmonious symphony of nostalgic flavours that feels like a meal from a 茶餐廳 followed by dessert from a traditional 甜品舖 from down the streets of Kowloon City, where the hot air from outside is being blasted away with arctic levels of cold from the AC, each table sits 3 different families in a circle huddled together on stools, the menu is on the walls, the cashier is yelling at the kitchen, the lighting is always washed out white, and some kid in glasses is being scolded for pouring too much syrup in their bowl. Almost. Tone down the sweetness at bit more and we’re closer.

siew tin’s nyonya kitchen, melaka.
was at melaka for a few days for a short vacation, it’s been so long since my last visit, maybe 3 years or so... so for the first night, wanted to get dinner near jonker walk and visit the night market after. this wasn’t the initial restaurant we wanted to go, but the other one was packed, and we just found this place by chance.
ordered fish with coconut milk and pineapple, peranakan chicken curry, nyonya mixed vegetables to share, with grass jelly drink and butterfly pea flower rice. the dishes was served quite quickly even though the restaurant is pretty packed too. food presentation wise, all the dishes looks pretty appetizing.
the fish dish has an appetizing sauce, it is slightly sweet, slightly fruity and flavorful, goes well with rice. fish itself was too soft though, felt like it was cooked too long. curry chicken was bad though, as it was served to us cold, and after that they microwaved the dish, hence the chicken became really really dry, was quite disappointed. mixed vegetables was okay, the best among the three dishes in my opinion.
the meal was pretty pricey, given such food quality, we don’t feel that it was worth it at all. the price is comparable to restaurants in kl, could be even more expensive actually, so this is definitely a touristy restaurant. it seems that this place have opened for a long time, hence i’m not sure why the food quality is bad, i definitely expected more. i wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone as there’s definitely better options in the area.

My wife went to down to the Asian market to get a drink, some sort of sweet apple juice with chunks of grass jelly in it, and didn't notice this cute little fella on the bottlecap until she went to throw the bottle away.
All I have to say is that gelatinous cubes in my game are about to get fudging adorable.
Gelatinous Cub tiny ooze, unaligned
Armor Class 6 Hit Points 8 (1d10+3) Speed 10
STR 10 DEX 3 (-4) CON 16 (+3) INT 1 (-5) WIS 6 (-2) CHA 5 (-3)
Condition Immunities blinded, charmed, deafened, exhaustion, frightened, prone Senses blindsight 30 (blind beyond this radius), passive Perception 8 Languages - Challenge Rating 1/4
Ooze Cube. The cub takes up part of it space. Other creatures may share the same space as the cub without being engulfed by it. Creatures and objects inside the cub can be seen but have total cover.
A creature within 5 feet of the cub can take an action to pull a creature or object out of the cub. Doing so requires a successful DC 10 check, and the creature making the attempt takes 3 (1d6) acid damage.
The cub can hold only one tiny creature inside it at a time.
Transparent. Even when the cub is in plain sight it takes a successful DC 13 Wisdom (Perception) check to spot a cub that has neither moved nor attacked.
Fudging Adorable. Upon first seeing a gelatinous cub creatures must succeed on Wisdom saving throw (DC 7) or instantly start thinking it's the cutest thing they've ever seen.
ACTIONS
Engulf. The cub moves up to its speed. While doing so it can move through another creature's space. Whenever it does so, the creature must make a DC 10 Dexterity saving throw.
On a failed save the cub moves through the creature's space and the creature takes 3 (1d6) acid damage. Tiny creatures are engulfed. The engulfed creature cannot breathe, is restrained, and takes 7 (2d6) acid damage at the start of each of the cub's turns. When the cub moves, the engulfed creature moves with it.
An engulfed creature can try to escape by taking an action to make a DC 10 Strength check. On a success the creature escapes but remains squeezed into the same square as the cub.
DM Thought: This might make a pretty good familiar for a weird wizard.

Sun Tea Day, 921 S Baldwin Ave, Ste E, Arcadia, CA 91007
Tumblr media
Sun Tea Day replaced another boba tea shop called T to Tea and they seem to be known for their fresh fruit tea. They only serve drinks, including fresh fruit tea, matcha, smoothies, coffee, fruit lattes, t-lattes, Yakult drinks, and fresh tea. I think they only have one drink size. You can specify the level of sugar added. Add ins include boba, aloe vera, grass jelly, agar, and lychee jelly. Also, you can add cheese foam.
Peach oolong milk tea ($6.45 + $0.50 for grass jelly), no sugar added: When I’ve ordered peach oolong milk tea from other places, the peach refers to the flavor of the tea leaves. Peach puree/juice is not added. I was surprised by how sweet the milk tea was because they added peach puree. The puree had tiny bits of peach. The peach flavor overwhelmed the tea flavor. The drink was not very creamy. The grass jelly was soft but bland.
Service was friendly. They have a frequent buyer stamp card. The shop is small but cute with boba plushies all over and limited seating. A few girls were there studying.
Online ordering is available. There’s a parking lot behind the shop.
3 out of 5 stars.
