Note

As the faithful butler of Kobayashi mansion went out to check up the residence’s entrance in the late morning of his young mistress’s birthday, there he was greeted by a certain man in his sixties.

“Good morning, sir. Perhaps you are Mr. Eguchi, I take it?”

With a formal smile on his face and the neat dark-colored suit he wore, Goro Eguchi could ultimately guess that this man before him was maybe someone from the similar profession.

“The name is ‘Chishio’ —Just a mere assistant of Mr. Fuyugami from Nara Division. And I came here today to sent their birthday gifts and blessings to the young lady Shinomiya.”

He then handed him the two boxes tidily wrapped in the furoshiki-style piece of clothes.

“This one in the box is a nightlight chosen by Mr. Kanata, while this one are confectioneries from Mr. Tomoharu… Even if they look just like some beautiful stones, they’re edible and are called ‘Kohakutou’ , the crystal candies mainly made from agar-agar and sugar. Hope lady Shinomiya doesn’t really mind some sweets.”

After explaining the details of the present from his young master’s team, in that sudden, both of them heard a strange voice from below.

“Meowwwrrr”

The butler looked down to find the source of voice and found a little kitten with a black collar coiling around Chishio’s legs while making a loud meow as if she wanted some attention from him.

Also noticing what had been sneakily following him all the way here to Shinagawa, the older man sighed.

“Ha… Mr. Eguchi, please pardon me for my early leave soon. As you can see, the children at my young master’s place have recently decided to keep a cat with them and sometimes this little one loves to follow me and her caretaker around to other divisions. Maybe it is now the time for her snacks, so I’ve to take her home. Mr. Kanata must be worried sick about her already.”

“Of course, I wish you both a safe trip, farewell.” Goro nodded and gave a small bow to the other man and closed the door as he left. Turning around, he was immediately greeted by the sight of the birthday girl standing behind him and while any other person would’ve screamed or jumped in fright, the butler merely gave a soft smile, not at all frightened and honestly more amused than anything. “Ah, Miss Sumire, impeccable timing, these gifts came in just from you, they’re from-“

“Nara Division.” Sumire cut him off, looking at the gifts with peculiar eyes. “Yeah, I know. I saw everything from the cameras, that was a cute cat by the way.” The anarchist held her hands out and the butler graciously placed the gifts in her hands, “Thank you, Goro.” She smiled and the older man smiled back, placing a hand above his heart and bowing. “Of course, young Miss.”

Sumire popped a piece of Kohakutou in her mouth and hummed delighted at the taste as she made her way down to the basement, she had a feeling that Malphas would like the nightlight while Aiko would devour the sweets.

The doorbell to the Kobayashi residence rang out through the mansion. The butler, Goro Eguchi, answered the door and looked as it was a delivery man, carrying a medium-sized box with a bright red colorful bow on it.

"Package for a Miss Kobayashi," The delivery man mentioned. Not wanting to bother his matriarch with this, the butler promptly signed for the package, taking it from the delivery man before shutting the door. Despite how large the box was, it was surprisingly quite light.

Walking to the house's family room, the butler looked as his surrogate daughter was on her couch, her legs crossed as she was currently reading a novel with a hot cup of tea by her side that Goro himself had prepared for her. The lady in question was so engrossed in her novel, she failed to notice the butler walking into the room until she spotted him out of the top of her vision. Her eyes grew slightly at the box in the butler's hands.

"Package for you, milady," Goro stated as he gently placed the box down on the coffee table in front of her. Miho fought the urge to roll her eyes. She didn't mind her birthday much, but she truly disliked these seemingly mindless gifts that people kept sending her in order to win her favor. Sighing, the lady placed her novel to the side, placing a bookmark on it, so as not to lose her page or place.

"Let's see what it is this time..." Miho thought as she stood up, untying the box ribbon on the box, and opened it up. Veering inside, she looked as the box only contained three things: a bottle, a ring case, and an envelope that was brightly gold. Reaching inside, the matriarch pulled out the bottle first. Her eyes grew wide as the bottle was filled with champagne. However, what made the bottle so fascinating was that it was a bottle of Goût de Diamants, perhaps the most expensive champagne in the world today.

"Goro," Miho stated, handing the bottle to her trusted confidant. "Take this to the safe in my office, and make sure Sumire does not see it."

"At once, my lady." Goro obeyed, chuckling softly to himself. He knew Miho and Sumire were both drinkers, and if Sumire were to see this, there's no doubt she'd probably consume it before Miho had a chance to. He found the little arguments between the two of them quite humorous from time to time.

Watching her butler leave, the Matriarch looked at the box again and reached inside, pulling out the ring case. Cocking an eyebrow, she looked at it from all sides, before opening it. To say that she was shocked at what was inside would be an understatement.

Inside the case was perhaps the largest emerald ring the CEO had seen in her life. Quite fitting that it was emerald since it was the birthstone of May, Miho's birth month. Picking it up gingerly, the CEO slipped it onto her left ring finger and was surprised that it fit her quite perfectly. She found it hard to conceal the smile on her face, as the green jewel shined brightly in the light.

"I know not who sent these items, but they've officially piqued my interest," Miho said to herself. Remember that there was one last thing inside the box, she again reached inside and looked at the letter. Carefully opening it, she looked as it was a letter, written in brilliant penmanship.

'To Miho Kobayashi,

I was not aware that today was the day of your birth. Forgive me for not realizing it earlier. Had I prior notice, I would have prepared a grand banquet for this special occasion. The peon who was supposed to inform me of important dates has been let go due to this 'unforgivable slight'. In any case, I hope that these gifts I've sent to you make up for this. Again, I do apologize for this. My hopes are that you will enjoy this day which is strictly all about you and the day of your birth.

P.S. Do be sure to enjoy that bottle of champagne, and keep it somewhere hidden so that that rambunctious rapscallion you call your niece does not pilfer it before you enjoy it.'

Following ten consecutive days of the online campaign titled "13days count 'dawn'," anison singer LiSA finally posted a full music video for her latest 18th single song "dawn." The upbeat tune is now featured as the OP theme for the winter 2021 TV anime Back Arrow. In the clip, LiSA shows off her solid performance with her band in the background of the sky and flames changing their expressions rapidly.

“Hm? Yes, what is it? I’m extremely busy today to you’ll have to make it quick.”

“A…present? Why would you—oh, I see, it appears that it is my birthday once again, how lovely, I had completely forgotten, well, thank you for the gift.”

“Once again, Goro starts off the day right by preparing me a delicious breakfast with all my favorites. He understands me so well, I truly could not ask for a better butler. Not that I want to.”

“As always, my employees and colleagues are adamant about throwing me a birthday party, honestly, I think it’s more for themselves than for me but I’ll be generous this once, business has been doing well these past couple of months, they deserve the celebration.”

“I will be taking the next couple of hours to prepare, both mentally and physically, for the influx of gifts and party invitations from my associates from the upper circle, no doubt news about my birthday has reached them, I bet they’re all just salivating at the chance to finally impress me and earn my good favor.”

“It is currently the afternoon and not once have I heard an explosion or sorts coming from Sumire’s lab and I am extremely on edge, it is one thing having her nearly blow up the entire estate but when she gets quiet like this, that only means that bad, bad things are happening or about to happen.”

“Speaking of bad things, hello Ritsuko, what ‘gift’ do you have for me this year? I want to hope that it’s nothing devious but knowing you that’s very unrealistic.”

“Good lord, Ritsuko! Where did you find this?! It’s…it’s absolutely beautiful! I’m actually surprised, I didn’t think you would get me and actual gift! Oh hush, you know what I meant, I’m curious to know how much this cost….wait what? Oh goddamnit Ritsuko, leave it to you to turn jewelry into a lethal weapon!”

“What. did. you. do…what do you mean ‘what do you mean’?! You have been silent all day and I haven’t even seen you since yesterday! Now we both know that can only mean that you’ve done something so nefarious that you have to go into hiding so now I will ask you one more time. What the hell have you done now?!”

“….What? Yes, yes, I know…I just…I’m…surprised? This is…actually quite nice…wait, you aren’t just distracting me, aren’t you?…I-okay, okay, I get it!…Sumire, thank you…do you perhaps—and she’s gone….”

“Goro? You have something for me? You didn’t have to, just being here is more than enough…yes, yes, I know that’s overused but it’s the truth…okay, fine, I could never turn you down, what is it that you got me?”

“This is…no, this is perfect, absolutely perfect. I…you have always been like a father to me, a father that I desperately wished I could have, you mean so dear to me and I am honored to be your daughter, thank you, Goro.”

Ritsuko Lines:

“Happy Birthday, Miho. My, how fast time flies, it just seemed like we’ve already celebrated your birthday but I digress, I wanted to give you this, I tried to match your style, I hope that you will wear it one day.”

“I’m glad you like it and I find it offensive that you think I can’t do something nice for you just for the sake of it. Hm, yes, well, it didn’t cost me anything, I had made it myself, I made it so that it will release a deadly toxin should you feel like your life is in danger, it won’t hurt you of course but I can’t say the same for people around you in a 30 mile radius.”

Sumire Lines:

“Happy Birthday, Miho….what do you mean? Well yeah, I didn’t get home until 3am and I spent the day in my lab…oh for fuck sake, you really have so little faith in me that you would accuse me of doing something evil every time I fucking go out?! For you information, no! I wasn’t doing something “nefarious”, I was making you this!”

“Yeah, I know, shocking that I would make you an actual gift, no, I’m not distracting you! How hard is it to believe that I did something nice for you?! You know what? Whatever, I’m heading out, enjoy your birthday.”

Bonus! Goro Lines:

“My lady? I hope you don’t mind the intrusion but I have something for you, it’s from me personality. Forgive me for stepping out of line, my lady but that line is horribly overused haha and I wanted to get you a gift for your birthday, I do hope you’ll accept it.”

“I am upmost pleased that you like my gift, my lady, I know it’s not as extravagant as the ones you’ve gotten but I personally think that nothing can beat a lovely card. My lady, you hold a very dear place in my heart, I never had any children but I consider you to be my daughter and I will be forever grateful for the day we met. Happy birthday, my lady.”

– Sumire’s Lab Basement, Kobayashi Mansion –

[It was around noonday when a package arrived on the doorstep of the Kobayashi mansion in Shinagawa. Besides the strangeness it which it suddenly appeared, it looked to be nothing more than an ordinary package that you'd receive in the mail. It even had a postage stamp and a shipping label on the box to know where it came from. And lo and behold, it was shipped to none other than the birthday girl, herself, Sumire Shinomiya.]

[Walking down to the basement where the girl in question was, the butler of the house, Goro Eguchi, knocked on the door of one of the largest rooms in the house. Opening the door, the old man looked as the door opened and a girl with purple/black ponytails poked her head out.]

Goro: *Holding out the box* Package for you, Miss.

Sumire: *Looks at and then takes it* Thanks, Goro.

[Bowing, the old butler then departed as Sumire closed the door, looking at the package. She was skeptical about it, especially considering that today was her birthday. And after her last... present from a certain pink-haired delivery woman from Ueno, the anarchist was a bit wary of any unmarked gifts that appeared for her on this day. She debated whether she should just discard the thing, but she knew Aranai would eventually ask her about it. Sighing, the anarchist prepared to open it.]

Sumire: Aranai, I swear, if this is another scavenger hunt...

[Opening the box, the purple-haired girl was surprised to find a pair of VR goggles. They looked suspiciously like the kind she and Aranai had won a few weeks back during a tag-team rap tournament. She remembered that Aranai had begged her to be her partner. She would have refused had it not been for Aranai telling her Jiro was going to be in attendance. ...Thinking of the middle Yamada brother made the young girl turn red before she quickly shook it off.]

[Looking at the VR goggles, Sumire picked them up out of the box, looking at them strangely. In the box, there was a letter, obviously written by her pink-haired friend, if the handwriting was a hint. Aranai's penmanship, unfortunately, left something to be desired. Looking at it, the anarchist was somehow able to put together what her rebellious friend had somehow written:]

Aranai: What up, birthday girl? Knowing you're probably in your lab doing some crazy-ass experiments like always. But fear not! Your good friend, Aranai, has taken it upon herself to give you something to do on this fantastic day, which is your birthday!

Sumire: *Rolls eyes* Yeah right. Some of us aren't die-hard outdoorsmen like you, you bitch.

Aranai: In this box are a pair of VR goggles, kinda like the ones we won a few weeks ago. And before you ask, these aren't those. These are a pair I bought with my own money, so you'd better use them! Anyway, I have laid out of series of challenges for you to complete in order to obtain your birthday gift. There are three in total, and each challenge is different. If you pass each one, you should obtain a passcode to a secret level. Your birthday gift will be waiting.

Sumire: ...Yeah, I'll pass, thanks.

Aranai: ...And before you get any ideas on not doing it, I thought I'd let you know, it involves a certain Yamada boy you like.

[Sumire blushed as she thought of the middle brother of the Yamada family of Ikebukuro, and she growled as placed a hand over her face. Sighing, she looked at the goggles.]

Sumire: *Sighs and shrugs* Aw, what the hell? It's not like I have anything else to do.

[Sitting down in her computer chair, the anarchist placed the goggles on her head, before looking at the letter.]

Aranai: When you're ready to get started, slip the goggles on. It should take you to the main screen. When you get there, input 'Elysium'. Have fun, girl! And happy birthday!

[Rolling her eyes again, Sumire placed the goggles over her eyes. Before entering the start button, she looked over to her left where Aiko, her AI, was watching and waiting.]

Sumire: Aiko, hold my calls for me, will ya?

Aiko: Hai, Oneesan!

[Thanking her A.I., the birthday woman looked forward as she it the 'On' button on the goggles, taking her to a blue home screen where a simple text box was seen. Typing in the password, 'Elysium', Sumire felt herself being transported to a new world.]

[At first, it was all white, but after a couple of seconds and her eyes grew adjusted, she looked as she was in some sort of cloudy valley. It looked a little like something out of a movie scene.]

Sumire: Where... am I?

[As if answering her question, the word, 'Shangri-La' appeared on the screen.]

Sumire: 'Shangri-La'? Isn't that some sort of fictional Heavenly place in the Himalayas?

[Looking all around, though she knew it was fake and was a bit skeptical, she couldn't help but be impressed with the graphics seen on the screen.]

Sumire: *Looks around* Hmm, not bad. ...But that's enough galvanizing. Let's get these silly "challenges" over with.

[Although she said, that she didn’t exactly know where to go now. Lucky for her, an arrow appeared which seemed to point her in a general direction. Figuring it would help her, she followed it, eager to get this over with.]

2 1/2 hours later...

[To say that Sumire was exhausted would be an underestimate. It's official: she was definitely going to commit murder before this day is over. And the victim would be a certain pink-haired rebel over in Ueno.]

Sumire: What the hell was she thinking?

[The first "challenge" was little more than a mini-test that involved her mind. She had arrived at a gate, and before she could process what was behind it, she was immediately bombarded with some rudimentary questions, such as: 'How many kilometers are there from the Earth to the sun?', 'What elements are humans made of?' And so on, and so on like that. She had to answer close to 100 questions before she was finished and the gate opened, revealing a large yellow key for her to take. It was labeled a ‘quest item’, which meant it was important to hold onto. So she did.]

[The second "challenge" was a bit harder, as it was physical. It involved the anarchist making it to the top of a mountain in less than 10 minutes. Naturally, physical challenges weren't her forte, but she still managed to pass after she discovered a hidden passageway that led her to the top with only a minute to spare. After reaching the top, she found another key, one which was the exact duplicate as the last. The only difference was that it was red in color. Like the last key, it was also labeled as a 'quest item', which meant that Sumire was forced to hold onto it.]

[The last "challenge" was perhaps the most annoying of the three, and took place at a temple. All it involved her doing was walking up the stairs to the temple and striking the gong at the top. Pretty simple, right? Well, it was... at least until she stepped on the temple ground and was immediately besieged by something. What was it, you ask? A clone of Jiro Yamadas, all gathered around her, looking hot and... alluring. If she could have, she would have stay there forever...]

Sumire: ...Gah!

[Hitting her head to remove herself of those... disturbing thoughts, she sighed as she had finally reached her destination: the Head Temple, where she could finally use these blasted keys she went through the trouble of collecting, get her silly birthday gift and put this whole miserable experience behind her.]

Sumire: I swear, I am so killing her when this mess is over with.

[Done with her empty threats, the anarchist entered the temple, finding it much bigger on the outside than on the inside. Walking around a bit, she found that it was empty, save some jars, some old Buddha statues, and a bunch of other junk one might find in a temple such as this. She continued until she found what she was looking for: the gate which these three keys she had collected were needed to open. Sighing as she was almost done (hopefully), she inserted all three keys and looked as the large gate opened, blinding her as light appeared from within. Shielding her eyes, she wondered if she should go in. Figuring there was no point in standing there, Sumire entered, still shielding her eyes as she ventured forth, the gate closing behind her...]

Some time later...

[Groaning as she felt a bright light hit her eyes, Sumire groaned as she awoke in her lab. She felt her whole body ache as it hurt after she had been lying motionless with that VR helmet on her head. She had to admit, the "present" Aranai gave her... it wasn't bad. What was it, you ask? Well, suffice it to say, it involved a beautiful meadow, her, and a certain Yamada boy. And that was all she was saying about that.]

[Sighing, she stepped out of her lab and walked upstairs to the second floor to the kitchen where she looked as Goro was busy dusting the countertops. He looked as she had appeared and he bowed with a smile on his face.]

Goro: Good day, Miss.

Sumire: *Waves to him as she walks to the pantry* Hey, Goro.

Goro: It is good to see you awake, Miss. Another package arrived from you whilst you were out. It was delivered by Miss Norikoru.

Sumire: *Looks at him* Another one?

Goro: *Nods* Yes, miss. Please give me a second to retrieve it.

[Walking out of the room, Goro returned a second later, holding onto a square box. Handing it to Sumire, she looked at it. Obviously, something was inside, but she couldn't exactly tell what. Like before, she was hesitant to open it, especially since she knew who the sender was. Sighing, she knew that there was no getting around it. Sumire pulled the lid off of the box and opened it, looking to see what was inside.]

...

[She wished she hadn't. She really wished she hadn't.]

Goro: *Looking over Sumire's shoulder* ...Oh my.

[Inside the box, much to her shame and embarrassment, was a book. But not just any book. No, this book had a particular cover, as well as a title. What was it called, you ask? Simple. It was a very special book called, "The Kama Sutra." ...Yes, that Kama Sutra.]

In Ueno Division...

[Sitting up in her room, a certain female Bōsōzoku had her headphones on listening to an 86 album. It was fortunate for her, as she didn't hear the loud, embarrassed scream that had erupted all the way from Shinagawa.]

...

[...But if she hadn't, then why was a smirk now plastered onto her face as she turned up the volume to her iPod more...?]

Three weeks earlier...

– Ueno Park, Ueno City –

[The park was filled with dozens of people in attendance as the tag-team rap battle was reaching its conclusion. Not surprisingly, the team of Aranai and Sumire was in the final round. The two looked as their opponents, a duo of middle-aged men who were calling themselves the "Rowdy Boyz" were up on stage rapping.]

Aranai: Alright, these guys are the last ones we have to face to win the prize.

Sumire: *Crosses her arms* Yeah, I'd still like to know exactly what this prize is.

Aranai: Don't worry about it! I promise you though, I'll make it up to you when we win.

Sumire: You mean, if we win.

Aranai: *Frowns* That's not the sort of attitude I'd expect from you.

Sumire: *Rolls her eyes* Whatever. Do you even have an idea for a song we're going to do?

Aranai: Of course! What's the song that WS is known for?

Sumire: Argh, of course, you would choose that song.

Aranai: Oh please, don't act like you don't enjoy it. You get more into that song than I do.

Sumire: Fine, whatever. Let's just get this over with. I've got things to do.

Aranai: *Smirks* You mean like spying on Jiro over in Ikebukuro?

Sumire: *Blushes* Shut up! That's not what I meant!

[Laughing at her friend, the duo looked as the boyz finished their song and was met with some applause and cheers from the crowd. The two walked up on stage, and were instantly met with cheers as the crowd knew who they were. With their HypMics in hand, the two prepared themselves.]

Aranai: *Looks at Sumire* Ready for this?

Sumire: *Rolls her eyes* As I'll ever be.

Aranai: *Smirks* That's the spirit.

CodeX Drama Track 1 - Whatever Will Be, Will Be

Pt. 2

— Kobayashi Mansion —

[Scene starts with the double doors to the sleek modern, mansion opening by the butler of the house, Goro Eguchi [1]. The older man stands by as he waits for his boss and her niece to enter the house. An enraged Miho enters the house, dragging a protesting Sumire by the arm, Goro shutting the door behind them.]

Sumire: OW! *glares* God, I think you’re about to dislocate my fucking arm!

Miho: *roughly lets go of her arm* An underground fighting ring!? Really Sumire!? Are you fucking kidding me!?

Sumire: *rubs her arm* I don’t know what you’re so pissed about, it wasn’t an actual fighting ring, the robots did the fighting. Besides, didn’t you say I needed to go out and make some money-

Miho: By getting a job! A nice, legal job like all teenagers do! Not have illegal underground bot matches.

Sumire: *snaps* Well be specific next time!

[Miho took a deep breath as she could feel her blood pressure increasing, the urge to throw this little degenerate out on the streets was oh so tempting.]

Miho: This is the 3rd time this month. I had to delay my meeting to tomorrow, I swear to god, next time you get in trouble with the police, I’m letting your ass rot in that cell.

[Sumire scowled.]

Sumire: *sarcastic* Oh well, sorry to ruin your precious meeting about how to further fuck up people’s livelihoods. I didn’t need your help, I could have gotten out on my own.

[Miho’s glare was downright deadly at this point.]

Miho: So help me God Sumire, I will-

Sumire: *shouts* You’ll what!? Tell me Miho, you’ll do what!?

[Both of them were in each other’s faces, teeth bared and ready to attack. Before one could get a word out, a voice interrupted their quarrel. Goro stood besides the bar holding the home phone to his chest as he spoke.]

Goro: Ms. Miho, Ms. Okada is on the phone, she requests to speak with you.

[Miho blinked before facing Goro. Sumire rolled her eyes as both of them took a step back from their would be death match.]

Miho: I...hold on for a minute, Goro.

[Miho turns back to her niece with a glare.]

Miho: We’re not done, you hear me?

Sumire: *clicks tongue* Actually we are, I am at least.

[Sumire starts to make her away across the living room and towards the basement.]

Sumire: I’ll be in my lab, don’t bother me.

[She makes sure to glare at Miho and flips her off to make her point before disappearing down the steps. Miho shakes her head in disbelief before walking over to Goro and taking the phone from him, she gives him a nod and Goro nods back and returns to his duties.]

Miho: What’s up, Ritsuko?

[On the other line, Ritsuko chuckles.]

Ritsuko: *teasing* Were you and Sumire having another of your bonding moments?

Miho: *rolls her eyes* You try living with her and see what it’s like, dear God, I am so close to pulling my hair out.

Ritsuko: I think you forget that she’s a teenager Miho, teens tend to be rebellious.

Miho: Sumire is not your average teen going through a rebellious phase, I swear that girl is a demon. *she shakes her head* She’s gifted, a prodigy even but she wastes her potential locked in the basement doing God knows what and getting in trouble with every person with authority she comes across. An ‘anarchist’ she calls herself. *she scoffs*

Ritsuko: Well every girl needs a hobby.

Miho: I blame you, ever since you started mentoring her, it seems she’s gotten worse.

Ritsuko: *laughs* Me? You were the one begging me to take her in just so you’ll get a moment of peace. Just let her do her own thing Miho, and encourage her instead of bringing her down. The more you tighten the leash, the more she’ll lash out.

[Miho lets out a deep sigh.]

Miho: If I let her do her own thing, she’ll destroy the city but sure, fine, whatever. What is it that you want to talk about anyways?

Ritsuko: Right, about that. It’s important so is it okay that I come over? It’s something I need to ask you in person.

[Miho raises her eyebrows despite knowing that Ritsuko wouldn’t see it, she was curious to know what was it that it couldn’t said over the phone but she agreed nonetheless.]

Miho: Sure, I’m free anyways due to a certain someone.

[Ritsuko chuckled once more.]

Ritsuko: Perfect, I’ll see you soon. And tell Sumire I said hi if you see her.

Miho: I doubt it but fine.

[With that, both of them hung up.]

— Sumire’s Lab/Basement, Kobayashi Mansion —

[The lower floor of the mansion was dark except from the purple glow of the electronics, power currents, chemicals, test tubes, and various inventions that were all over the lab. Mechanical spiders crawled on the walls and ceiling, as the inventor herself was busy on her work table working on her next latest invention to take her frustrations away.]

[Sumire jumps then hisses as she gets electrocuted]

Sumire: Ah fucking hell!

[Her exclamation managed to catch the attention of a young girl who looked to be 12. Long black hair cascading down her back, wide purple eyes that seemed to be glowing, and wearing a cute and stylish dress.]

Aiko[2]: Ah! Are you okay, Big sister?

Sumire: *huffs* Yeah, I’m fine.

[The cute robot-girl relaxed.]

Aiko: You’re back early, did you get a lot of money?

Sumire: I did until the cops fucking ruined everything.

Aiko: *pouts* Awww...

Sumire: *pats her head* It’s fine, it’s just some cash, I can easily get it back. Now, did anything happen while I was away?

Aiko: *perks up* Oh! Stolas[3] called a while back! He said to go to the Den whenever you’re available, though he didn’t say it as nicely.

Sumire: *clicks tongue* Of course, whatever could that asshole want *sighs* but I am running low on my pills, I’ll head over tomorrow, anything else?

Aiko: Jiro-Kun called too, he said that he could use your help on a new job he got.

[Sumire seemed to perk up slightly at the mention of the middle Yamada brother]

Sumire: *smirks* Lol, did Saburo pissed him off again? Alright, I’ll help. What else?

Aiko: Ritsuko-Sensei is coming over, I manage to hack into Miho’s phone call and hear what they were talking about, it sounded really important.

Sumire: *raises eyebrow in interest* Really important huh? Interesting...

[Aiko then innocently peered over the workbench]

Aiko: So whatcha working on?

[Sumire grinned]

Sumire: Well my adorable little robo-sister, I’m making a jammer that can hack an entire district. It’s can either be beneficial to me and the Den. Something that can help us on our missions.

Aiko: Ooooh

[Aiko ‘oohed’ as her glowing eyes sparkled with childlike wonder. Sumire beamed, a feeling of pride quickly replacing her earlier frustration. Truly, nothing could ever beat the feeling of someone appreciating her work, as they should.]

Sumire: *smiles* Do you wanna help me?

Aiko: *beams and nods* Mhm!

Sumire: Grab those tools and we can start

[As always, Aiko followed her creator’s orders.]

— Later, Kobayashi Mansion —

[The sound of a doorbell can be heard throughout the living room, Goro walked up to the door and opened it, revealing Ritsuko on the other side. Goro gave the woman a greeting.]

Goro: Good evening, Ms. Okada. Please, come in.

Ritsuko: Good to see you working ever so hard, Goro. Miho must pay you a fortune.

[Goro chuckles]

Goro: While my lady is generous, I am simply satisfied just working for her no matter how much she gives me.

Ritsuko: *smirks* My, what a devoted man you are.

Goro: I only wish to serve. Shall I get you some refreshments? Ms. Miho should only take a minute.

Ritsuko: Iced tea would be fine.

[As Goro went to make Ritsuko her drink, Ritsuko relaxed herself on the plush couch and let out a sigh. Today was exhausting and Ritsuko had a feeling it would only get more tiring from here.]

Ritsuko: *quietly to herself* Fucking hell, what was Otome thinking? I swear she gets off on the suffering of others regardless of gender. ‘Make sure she doesn’t become a threat’ my ass. *snorts*

Miho: I see you’re in a good mood

[Ritsuko turns to see her best friend descending down the stairs, hair free from its usual bun and cascading down her shoulders, heels and jacket off and a few buttons popped off her shirt. She looked comfortable, a complete different person from her everyday life.]

Ritsuko: *teasing* Miho, is that you? Why, I almost didn’t recognize you.

Miho: *rolls her eyes* Spare me your bullshit, you look tired, long day?

Ritsuko: *sighs* Hit the nail on the head.

[Miho sits down next to her as Goro came back with the drinks ready, an iced tea for Ritsuko and a glass of whiskey for Miho]

Miho: Thank you, Goro.

Goro: *bows* Of course

[The butler returns to his work]

Ritsuko: Man, I need one of him.

Miho: *chuckles*

Ritsuko: Where’s Sumire?

Miho: *huffs* Most likely in the basement making a goddamn bomb or something, you can never tell with her. So what’s this really important thing you could only tell me face to face? *sips her drink*

[Ritsuko lets out a long sigh as she takes a drink of her tea, she reaches into her bag she brought with her and pulls out a letter and three microphones, Miho’s eyes widen and nearly drops her drink as she starts the Party of Words symbol on the envelope.]

Ritsuko: *grins sarcastically* Guess who’s joining the battle?
