In a restaurant located in Aoyama, a man and a woman, besides the chef and musicians, were the only people present, as the man was on one knee with a beautiful diamond ring in his hand as the woman was staring at him, shocked. Who were the people in question, you ask? They were none other than Tomi Chōten, and Miho Kobayashi.

"...Miho Kobayashi," Tomi stated, "Would you do me the honor of being my lawfully-wedded wife?"

Many hours ago...

— Shinagawa, Kobayashi Residence —

"Pardon me, ma'am," Goro spoke walking into the living room where his master and mistress, Miho Kobayashi, was located, reading a novel on her sofa. "My apologies for bothering you, but it appears that you have a guest at the front door. I stated you weren't accepting visitors at this time, but the visitor stated they were from Master Chōten."

Hearing the name of her friend and fellow business partner made the scowl on Miho's face disappear slightly. She knew Tomi wouldn't bother her unless it was for an important reason. Sighing, she placed a bookmark on her current page, got up from her seat, and walked to the front door. Opening it, her eyes grew slightly as a familiar-looking older gentleman wearing a black suit, along with many other similarly-dressed men, stood at the door. Spotting the matriarch of the house, they all bowed in respect.

"Good day, Lady Kobayashi," The older man spoke, raising his head. "I am Akiharu Hino, head butler for the Chōten family. Master Tomi Chōten has ordered that my servants and I make sure you have the best day you could possibly have. He has thus ordered us to escort you as he has a full day of enjoyment and relaxation planned for you."

Hino then held his hand out towards the black limousine that suddenly appeared out of nowhere. On the back, the vehicle was adorned with the Chōten family's logo, signifying who it belonged to.

"Shall we, ma'am?

As Miho looked at the limousine, a smile appeared on her face before she looked at the old butler.

"Give me five minutes." She ordered, before walking back into the house. After five minutes, she prepared to leave before looking at her butler, Goro.

"I'm heading out now, Goro." She informed her butler. "Please keep an eye on the house while I'm gone."

"Of course, milady." Goro bowed, respectfully. "I assume that also means Lady Sumire, as well?"

Giving the butler a meaningful look, she exited the house and looked as the army of butlers stood ready and waiting for her. Nodding, she followed Hino to the limousine, the other butlers following behind.

— Aoyama, Spa Resort —

To say that Miho Kobayashi was feeling bliss would be an understatement would be an understatement. She sighed as she was face down on a massage table while a massage therapist was firmly, yet gently massaging her back. She wasn't aware of how stressed she had been lately until the therapist started pressing down on her, releasing all the tension in her body.

Hino had stated that their first stop was a spa resort, which, safe to say, Miho was thoroughly enjoying. She had always meant to visit one of these places but never found the time to. What made it even better is that she was the only person there, meaning she had the entire spa to herself, which she was not complaining about. She didn't know how Tomi had arranged this, but she was grateful.

Soon afterward, she was seated in a lounge chair with face cream and cucumbers on her eyes. Beneath her, a massage therapist massaged both her feet, as they had done her back earlier. On the sides of her, a manicurist was working on her nails, either filing them or painting them, making them. Usually, she wouldn't bother having her nails done, but she was impressed with their work.

The last part of the resort allowed Miho to soak in a spa filled with mineral water. She sighed as the water heated up, providing a soothing, relaxing time. She had been told numerous times by Goto the benefits of mineral-rich baths but had never tried them before now. She wished she had; taking one of these every day would have helped in dealing with her wayward niece. Shaking her head, the CEO refused to think of that now, preferring to let her mind, body, and soul relax.

"I must definitely remember to thank Tomi for this." She thought as she continued relaxing.

— Aoyama, Shopping Center —

After several hours of relaxation, Hino and his butlers then drove Miho to their shopping center, which, she was loathed to admit, made Shinagawa's look bare in comparison. She was then instructed to buy whatever she pleased as Tomi would pay for it all; there was no limit, as he stated this day was for her.

The Matriarch did not need to be told twice, as she busied herself visiting store after store. Much of what she bought consisted mainly of clothes and jewelry, though she did buy some practical things as well; mainly, a thank you card for Goro for all that he had done for her. She truly valued her butler. She was one of the few people in her life that she could say she trusted, and the only one whom she would say she could call a family.

Although she had Ritsuko and Sumire, neither of them could hold a candle to Goro. As much as she valued her friendship with Ritsuko, even Miho had to admit that there were times she couldn't stand the immoral and unethical Chuohku scientist. And Sumire... the less said about how much she tolerated (and she used the word in the loosest sense) her anarchic niece, the better.

— Aoyama, Restaurant —

After she had finished shopping and had bought herself a beautiful dress, she was driven to her final destination: the Chōten mansion, where the man himself, Tomi Chōten, waited. Wearing an attractive emerald-colored tuxedo, he bowed graciously to the lady waiting.

"A pleasure as always, Lady Kobayashi," Tomi stated, as he gently kiss her outward hand. "I hope this day was filled with bliss for you."

He gently took her hand as he led her to his Rolls Royce, which was waiting for the two of them.

"And it is not over yet, milady."

From then on, Tomi took the CEO to a variety of places: a theater show, a casino, and finally a rooftop restaurant. Miho was not surprised in the least to say that the restaurant was empty, save for them and a couple of chefs and some musicians who were playing classical music.

As the two finished eating, Tomi called for two glasses of wine, both already filled. Clinking their glasses together, the two downed their drinks, but Miho stopped as felt something in her glass. Looking at it, her eyes couldn't believe that it was a ring. Looking up at Tomi, she noticed he wasn't there, but was now beneath her on one knee...

Now...

"Miho Kobayashi, you are truly a woman that I would love to spend this life and the next with. I am truly fortunate to know you. And it is for that reason I have to ask you this..."

Reaching into his coat pocket, Tomi pulled out a jewel box and opened it, which contained perhaps the largest and most expensive diamond ring in the world.

"...Miho Kobayashi, would you please do me the honor of being my lawfully-wedded wife?"

It was only minutes before Kunio’s birthday was over and said man was relaxing on his sofa after such an exciting day. The doorbell to the Kurome residence sounded throughout the place causing the younger Chōten brother to sigh and get up from his previous position to go answer the door. Opening the door, he was greeted with an elegant black present sitting on the ground which made him raise a brow, skeptical, he had heard that his brother Tomi was pranked not once but twice on his birthday with this very same tactic and Kunio would rather not meet the same fate that his older brother did.

Poking the gift with his shoe a couple of times, he concluded that the gift was safe seeing as it did not explode on impact and reached down to pick it up, he carried the present inside and closed the door. Walking back to the living room, he sat the present down on the table and opened it, revealing three items inside.

The first item was a beautifully made black hat with gold chains and roses attached to it.

The second item was a bottle of ridiculously expensive champagne, even the box was made out of gold.

And lastly, the third item was a letter with beautiful cursive handwriting.

‘Dear Kunio-san.

I sincerely hope you enjoy the gifts that I have gotten you, had I had enough time I would’ve have given you more, my apologies. I wish you a very joyous happy birthday and all the good fortune life brings you. Forgive me if I am being too forward but I want us to be on good terms if you allow it. I hope to see more of you in the future and once again, happy birthday.

Kunio blinked quite surpise for received a birthday gift from Miho Kobayashi, a CEO and Tomi's future wife,he still remember how he helped Tomi realize his feelings for her (one of his most funny memories until today) ,Kunio look himself in the mirror wearing the hat with a smile, it would look well with his magician costume of his shows,he stop his thoughts to heard Natsume's voice

The day was slowly winding down, turning daytime into night. Just a bit longer and it would mark the end of Miho Kobayashi's birthday. The lady of the hour was sitting in her office finishing up today’s work. Then all of a sudden her faithful butler entered the room. 

"Yes, Goro?" Miho asked, not moving her eyes from the paperwork she was working on. 

“Pardon me, my lady, but a visitor is here to see you,” Goro bowed. 

Miho raised her gaze from her paperwork and raised her eyebrows. Who would be visiting her? Quickly mentally running through a list of everyone she knew and coming up blank. 

“Send them in,” Miho was curious as to who had come. The butler nodded and left the room.

It was a few moments before the sound of heels clicking on the floor alerted the woman to the other party’s presence and much to her surprise, a somewhat familiar face was what greeted her.

“Hello Miho-san, Happy Birthday. Forgive me if I came at an inopportune time,” The leader of the Edogawa Division, Yuriko Kuromiya apologized, walking across the room and taking a seat across from Miho. 

“Ah, Yuriko-san, forgive me but I wasn't expecting you of all people. I assume you’re here because of my birthday, yes?” Miho asked, looking at the only other person who knew her pain of constantly dealing with trouble-making pains in the ass relatives. 

“I was in the neighborhood and thought it would be better to drop these off in person,” Yuriko responded, handing the CEO a noticeably sized gift bag with all the presents she had brought. 

“Thank you, Yuriko-san, you didn't have to do this.” Miho expressed graciously taking the gift bag from her. “May I offer you a refreshment? It’s the least I can do after you went through the trouble of getting here.” The black-haired woman offered to the green-eyed woman. 

Just as when Yuriko was going to answer the two women were interrupted by a ringtone echoing in the room. 

“Apologies,” Yuriko pulled out her cell phone and answered it. “This is Yuriko Kuromiya.” 

Miho couldn't quite help but shiver as she felt the temperature in the room dropped several degrees. 

“...I see…” A sharp smile stretched across Yurko’s face as she heard what the person on the phone was telling her. “Thank you for telling me. I’ll be there shortly.” 

“Yuriko-san?”

“Ah, Miho-san, I’m afraid we’ll have to do a rain check on that refreshment. It seems like Kaoru and Kanra have managed to get themselves arrested again.” Yuriko pinched the bridge of her nose and sighed. “Sometimes I believe this is karma for all the things I did when I was younger.”

 “Karma?” Miho questioned feeling sympathy towards the forensic pathologist.

“Between me and you Miho-san, I was worse than Kaoru and Kanra combined.” A faint smirk appeared on Yuriko’s mouth. “My life has been an interesting one. Although, I don't think anything will top the time I got proposed to by the Crown Prince of Dubai.”  Yuriko let out a laugh. “Now then I have to take my leave because as much as I would like to leave those two in jail for the night. I know they'll somehow end up running it.”

The retired assassin gave Miho one last birthday wish before getting up and heading toward the door. The birthday woman wished her a farewell before looking back at the presents still in the bad, picking up the biggest present, and opening it.

Opening the gift revealed an elegant white cake with raspberry drizzle down the edges. Blackberries, figs, and flowers were across the top completing the look of the cake. Next to the cake was a letter, Miho had to squint at it for a minute the handwriting on it looked horrendous. 

“Dear Miho-san,

Happy Birthday! I hope you like the cake it's earl grey flavored. I would've asked Sumire what your favorite flavor was but I was afraid she would tell me some wacky flavor. Anyway, I hope you enjoy it!

Miho blinked she had heard Kanra was famous for her cakes. She didn't think the pink-haired girl liked her so she wasn't expecting one from her. Miho had to admit the cake was elegant in its simplicity. Setting the note along with the cake aside, Miho moved on to the final gift. This one felt like it weighed more than the last one.

Opening the gift reveals a black and gold china tea set with white rose designs on them. Alongside the tea set was a black box filled with containers of loose-leaf tea. The set was quite beautiful, Miho thought and checked to see if a note had come with it and sure enough, a note was tucked inside.

“Dear Miho-san,

Happy Birthday. I hope you enjoy the present I got you. Alongside the tea set, I got you a collection of teas that I’ve discovered from my travels around the world. God knows how many times I've needed a good cup of tea after a long day of work and after dealing with certain troublemakers.

Placing the note down the black-haired woman snorted she needed more than a cup of tea but she appreciated the gift. Leaving back into her chair Miho couldn’t help but smile, quite the surprise this birthday was turning out, she thought. Perhaps Yuriko wouldn't be so bad to befriend. Although Miho wished her luck dealing with those two misfits she called daughters.

“My lady, shall I make you a cup of tea?” Goro offered and Miho nodded her head, why not after all, the tea set Yuriko gave her was quite beautiful and she had a feeling that she’ll be using this set more often in the future. Soon enough, Miho was settled into the living room on the reclining chair nursing a nice hot cup of tea whilst reading a book, every once in a while she would pause to take a bite out of the slice of cake Kanra made for her. For a girl that was known to put people in critical condition with just a literal flick of her finger, she could bake a damn good cake, that’s for sure. It was very nice for Yuriko to not only go out of her way to show up in Shinagawa in person but to also give her some wonderful gifts, perhaps someday the two of them could talk over tea together and vent about how stressful and soul sucking it is to have criminally insane children.

She’s as quiet as a mouse until she has to ring the doorbell- Shinagawa was fucking terrifying.

She holds a medium sized box and a small box.

“Lana and Itsuki are a bit tight on money right now- so I pitched in on this one”

You open the medium box to find two things.

A ghost shaped cupcake and a beautiful diamond necklace.

“I know it’s probably nothing compared to the stuff you’re used to eating but- i made it myself! The necklace…well that’s something I thought you’d like…i couldn’t afford the earrings though”

In the small box you find a small plushie of a squid wearing a flower crown.

“H-happy b-birthday”

“Excuse me My lady, you have received more gifts.” Goro came into the living room where Miho was relaxing and reading her novel, glancing at her butler, she sighed and placed the bookmark in her book. “Who is it from now?” She asked as Goro carefully placed the gifts down on the coffee table. “I believe it’s from that group from Kyoto. The young one brought them here in person.” Miho raised a brow, Kanade (along with Lana and Itsuki) had gotten her gifts? Well, she supposed she can take the time to open them. “How…lovely.” Miho commented as she held up the cupcake and the plush and gently set them aside, now holding up the diamond necklace, she looked it over carefully before nodding in approval. “Goro, remind me to send gifts to the Kyoto team, I would like to express my gratitude.” She addressed the butler, the said servant nodded his head. “Of course, my lady.”

“I will be taking the next couple of hours to prepare, both mentally and physically, for the influx of gifts and party invitations from my associates from the upper circle, no doubt news about my birthday has reached them, I bet they’re all just salivating at the chance to finally impress me and earn my good favor.”

“It is currently the afternoon and not once have I heard an explosion or sorts coming from Sumire’s lab and I am extremely on edge, it is one thing having her nearly blow up the entire estate but when she gets quiet like this, that only means that bad, bad things are happening or about to happen.”

“Speaking of bad things, hello Ritsuko, what ‘gift’ do you have for me this year? I want to hope that it’s nothing devious but knowing you that’s very unrealistic.”

“Good lord, Ritsuko! Where did you find this?! It’s…it’s absolutely beautiful! I’m actually surprised, I didn’t think you would get me and actual gift! Oh hush, you know what I meant, I’m curious to know how much this cost….wait what? Oh goddamnit Ritsuko, leave it to you to turn jewelry into a lethal weapon!”

“What. did. you. do…what do you mean ‘what do you mean’?! You have been silent all day and I haven’t even seen you since yesterday! Now we both know that can only mean that you’ve done something so nefarious that you have to go into hiding so now I will ask you one more time. What the hell have you done now?!”

“I’m glad you like it and I find it offensive that you think I can’t do something nice for you just for the sake of it. Hm, yes, well, it didn’t cost me anything, I had made it myself, I made it so that it will release a deadly toxin should you feel like your life is in danger, it won’t hurt you of course but I can’t say the same for people around you in a 30 mile radius.”

Sumire Lines:

“Happy Birthday, Miho….what do you mean? Well yeah, I didn’t get home until 3am and I spent the day in my lab…oh for fuck sake, you really have so little faith in me that you would accuse me of doing something evil every time I fucking go out?! For you information, no! I wasn’t doing something “nefarious”, I was making you this!”

“Yeah, I know, shocking that I would make you an actual gift, no, I’m not distracting you! How hard is it to believe that I did something nice for you?! You know what? Whatever, I’m heading out, enjoy your birthday.”

The yellow liquid will increase your speed, the dark green one will increase your strength, the pink one will give off potent attractive pheromones, and so on and so on…*sigh* Yes, essentially, they’re “liquid superpowers” as you so crudely put it.”

“Sumire….Happy Birthday…*coughs* um, I know you must have a lot to do today so I’ll make this quick. Here you go.”

“Yes, I know it’s not your usual style and I tried to keep it as pristine as possible but…your mother loved that bracelet so much that she wore it everyday so of course it’s not going to be the same. Yes, that bracelet belong to her mother and now it’s yours, I…trust that you’ll take good care of it, if not for me then at least do it for her…right, I’ll take my leave now.”

Oh look there’s a child on your doorstep- no it’s not an abandoned baby it’s Kanade. She’s just came from an aftershow in downtown Aoyama so she’s dressed in her absolute best.

Kanade hands you a rather large bag- inside it’s filled with…gemstones?

Many shiny gemstones lay in the bottom of the bag- stones of all colors and sizes!

From Lana- A painting of Tomi and Miho! The lavish nature of the painting was nothing short of stunning- the pair sat next to each other on two golden thrones while their subjects offered them gifts of many varieties. They truly look like a power couple!

From Kanade you received- Mr Spooky….he seems different.

“He’s stuffed with this really expensive gold stuffing I got on a recent trip to France” Kanade shrugs “I came into some money recently…especially since my career kinda took off after Starlight Specters joined the DRB”

“Happy birthday!!!”

Answering the door as he always did, Akiharu Hino, the family's butler, smiled at the young girl and took the gifts from her.

"Thank you very much, Young Miss," he said, bowing. "I'll be sure the Young Master receives these."

Thanking her once again, Hino knew that his Young Master was out with Miss Miho on their date right now. Looking at the painting of him and his soon-to-be wife, Hino could hardly believe just how much the Young Master had grown. He had served the Chōten family for years, and though he technically served his parents, Hino was as much Tomi's butler as he was theirs. Not that he didn't mind his parents, but he found serving the Young Master to be much easier than serving his parents. It also helped that they weren't around very much.

Looking at the painting of the Young Master and Mistress Miho again, the old butler contemplated between showing it off to the Young Master, or holding onto it for his and his fiance's wedding day. He would normally get the Young Master's permission, but he was not present at the moment. Plus, that would ruin the surprise.

"...I pray you forgive me, Young Master," Hino said as he decided to choose the latter option. Taking the painting, he decided to hide it in his room until the appointed day when it could be revealed. It seemed so far away, but Hino was nothing, if not patient...

The doorbell to the Chōten estate rang throughout the residence. The butler, Akiharu Hino, answered the door and looked as it was a delivery man, carrying a black medium sized box with a shiny golden bow on top of it. The delivery man cleared his throat, “Package for Mister Tomi Chōten from Ms. Miho Kobayashi.” He announced, the butler promptly signed for the package, taking it from the delivery man before shutting the door. Despite how large the box was, it was surprisingly quite light.

Walking to the mansion’s living room, the butler looked as his master was sitting on the couch, languidly scrolling on his phone on one hand and nursing an cocktail he had prepared for him earlier with the other. Clearing his throat, Hino presented the present Miho got for him, “A package for you, Master Tomi.”

Tomi raised an eyebrow and frowned, looking at the gift with uninterested eyes, he knew that today would be the prime time for people to bombarde them with gifts and he expected as such but it still never not get exhausting. “Put it with the others.” He waved the butler off but Hino merely pushed the gift closer. “I’m not quite sure that is a good idea, Master Tomi, for this gift is from Lady Kobayashi.” The butler had a knowing glint in his eyes.

Now that seemed to have grabbed Tomi’s attention as he placed both his phone and drink down and grabbed the box from Hino, giving the butler a slight glare “Why didn’t you start with that..” The socialite muttered as he peeled away the bow and took off the lid, revealing three items…

The first item was an expensive and carefully crafted Rolex watch, while slightly simple in appearance, it still had enough elegance for it to be considered more than your average Rolex.

The second item made Tomi’s eyes lit up slightly as it was an entire box of Royal Courtesan, his favorite cigar brand. This couldn’t have come at a better time, he thought as he picked up one, inspecting it as it was indeed the real deal, he was running low but looks like he didn’t have to order more.

The third and last item was a vinyl record famous classical masterpieces throughout history such as Brahms, Chopin, Debussy, and more all in violin.

Now with all the gifts out of the box the only thing that was left was simply a letter, written in pure black ink and in beautiful penmanship.

‘My Dearest,

I wish you a very pleasant birthday, I wish I could visit but as you know, I am a very busy woman, just know that you are always in my thoughts. I know how exasperated you seem to get during this time so I will keep this short, I’ve gotten you some gifts that I thought you might enjoy, of course, I know you could’ve just gotten all of these yourself but you have to admit it’s much nicer to receive such gifts for free than paying out of your own pocket. I hope they reach you safely and I also hope that you do at least enjoy yourself a little on your special day.’

P.S. That Rolex you have there belonged to Paul Newman, a very famous American actor if I’m correct, it’s the most expensive watch up to date, worth millions if not billions. If you’re wondering how I acquired such an artifact, I’ll be more than willing to tell you over dinner if you’re free tonight.’

Tomi had just finished a two-hour-long bath after having to deal with a certain "gift" from a certain miscreant from Shinagawa. It had taken him a long time to get all that glitter off of him, and now his bathtub (along with certain parts of his bathroom) looked like a clown had exploded all over it. Even now, he could still feel parts of those small, colorful particles all over him. His servants assured him that none of them remained on him, but he wasn't so sure himself. He was just grateful that the slime smell was gone.

"How a refined and beautiful woman like Miho-san could possibly be the aunt of such a debased and immoral heathen such as her wayward niece is beyond even my understanding..." he thought.

Wrapped in a bathrobe, he took a gander at Miho's letter once more and a smile formed on his face. After reading it, he had ordered Hino to cancel the rest of his plans after 6 P.M. He knew his parents and guests would not be happy, but he didn't care. If the choice was between spending time with a woman who really understood him and cared for him and mingling with a bunch of people he couldn't give one whit about, then the decision was very obvious. He looked at the Rolex watch she had bequeathed him and smiled as it was a good fit for his wrist.

Looking at his suit that Hino had prepared for him in the bath, he nodded as it was clean and looked like it had the first day he purchased it. Tonight was definitely going to be a good night; he could hardly wait...

“…I see, *chuckles* Of course you would remember that conversation, how odd, it almost feels like a lifetime ago from when we were just simple schoolgirls who had to work together for a measly class project, I don’t believe in fate or any of that idiotic ideology…but I do think that day when we met, it certainly brightened my horizons.”

“Don’t think I haven’t seen you humming and bouncing around all day, Sumire, you’re almost as worse as them. Hm?…I would but knowing both you and Miho, the two of you have some pretty selective hearing, it wouldn’t do anything to tell you not to get me anything for my birthday so I’ll just save my breath, besides, a part of me is morbidly curious as to what sort of gift you got me.”

“I see, how extraordinary, well made and custom built as well, this is simply not a clone of Malphas….fufu, of course but this is quite the pleasant gift, thank you Sumire, I’m sure this will come very much in handy…what? “Ritsuko, a very happy birthday to you. Now, I know you don’t want to do anything today and I respect that but do you honestly think I wouldn’t get you anything for your birthday? Oh hush, we both knew this was going to happen whether you like it or not, now here, I do hope you like it.”

“Do you remember back when we were teenagers and we went stargazing on that beach? We were 15 and got paired together on yet another project for our science class, our topic was astrology so we spent all weekend stargazing and trying to take a clear picture of a constellation, and we did, it just also happened to be your constellation, the Capricorn but…it had looked so dull, like it was fading but you looked so fascinated with it and when I asked you why, I remember clear as day, you said, ‘The dullest of stars are most luminous’….I don’t know why but it had stuck with me ever since so when I saw this necklace…I had immediately thought of you, I know you don’t care much for jewelry but it would make me very happy if you wore it just once.”

Sumire Lines:

“Happy birthday, Ritsuko!…damn, that obvious, huh? Well, I couldn’t help it, I think this is the first time I’m celebrating your birthday ever since we met! Y’know, I’m surprised you’re not more reluctant, usually you’d say ‘why even bother?’…Uh, rude! Miho and I are nothing alike! Ugh, whatever, look, I totally get not wanting to make a big deal of out something that’s….really not a big deal so that’s why I just got you this present and nothing else, so here! Open it!”

“I know, I could have given you one sooner but I wanted to wait for a special occasion and what’s more special than today?! Your very own spiderbot for you to use however and whatever you see fit! He’s made completely from scratch so he’s not connected to Malphas’ hivemind, he’s completely independent unless you say otherwise…Oh man, I’m glad you like it!
