For AMA music: can you list 10 works (or more if it's too hard to choose) that "convey a Christian sense of the Divine" (quoting you here) for you? Have you already made a playlist of these works?
What do you think of Hector Berlioz? (there's a big festival dedicated to him in my hometown every summer so I wanted to get your opinion on him, but I can't remember if you mentioned his work because I haven't looked through your tags for a long time , sorry about that)
haven't made a religious playlist, but if I had to it would include:
Messiaen - L'Ascension
Messiaen - Quartet for the End of Time
Messiaen - Et exspecto resurrectionem mortuorum
Tavener - Lamentations and Praises
Gorecki - Beatus vir
Part - Cantante domino
Kilar - Angelus
Dutilleux - Timbres, espace, mouvement
Boulanger - Ville priere bouddhique (an ironic choice maybe lol)
& I used to kind of ignore Berlioz, but over the past two or three years he's become one of my favorites. Amazing imagination and the gargantuan sounds he was able to create must have been even more shocking to the people of the time. Haven't listened in a while, but other than the Symphonie fantastique, I love Harold in Italy, the Te Deum and Requiem, Romeo and Juliet, and the Grande symphonie funèbre et triomphale

okay but we're so proud of ourselves rn - had this 20th century classical choral music stuck in our head all day but couldn't for the life of us remember who by or what called, suddenly remembered what else was on that CD, found it on discogs by recognising the sleeve art :) - we love being autistic
anyway it's Górecki's Amen and it's lush

Today's poem: not a poem.
Instead, this second movement from Gorecki's Symphony of Sorrowful Songs.
The text is that taken from a wall of a cell in a Gestapo prison in Zakopane, Poland. Helena Wanda Błażusiakówna (18), was imprisoned by the Gestapo in 1944. Whilst she remained in prison, she scratched a prayer into the wall of her cell, using a fragment of her own broken tooth:
O Mamo, nie płacz, nie. Niebios Przeczysta Królowo, Ty zawsze wspieraj mnie.
(Oh Mamma do not cry, no. Immaculate Queen of Heaven, always support me).
After 12 weeks, Helena was amongst those being moved from Zakopane by train, when she was rescued by guerrillas. She crossed the Tatra mountains by foot and made it to her grandparents in Szczawnica, where she lived out the war.

Feeling this old-school timeless track by Lamb that popped up in my memories today... It always reminds me "I Am".
If I should die this very moment I wouldn't fear For I've never known completeness Like being here
Wrapped in the warmth of you Loving every breath of you Still my heart this moment Or it might burst
Could we stay right here Until the end of time until the earth stops turning Wanna love you until the seas run dry I've found the one I've waited for
All this time I've loved you And never known your face All this time I've missed you And searched this human race
Here is true peace Here my heart knows calm Safe in your soul Bathed in your sighs Wanna stay right here
Until the end of time 'Til the earth stops turning Gonna love you until the seas run dry I've found the one I've waited for
The one I've waited for
All I've known All I've done All I've felt was leading to this All I've known All I've done All I've felt was leading to this
Wanna stay right here 'Til the end of time 'till the earth stops turning I'm gonna love you till the seas run dry I've found the one I've waited for The one I've waited for The one I've waited for
Wanna stay right here 'Til the end of time 'till the earth stops turning I'm gonna love you till the seas run dry I've found the one I've waited for The one I've waited for The one I've waited for

La Brea - 3x03
This was so cute. I really miss Eve & I'm pissed we're only getting a 6 episode third season.
But this definitely makes up for a lot.

this is so fucking stunning. been listening to this symphony in its entirety for a couple weeks. wish the whole thing was translated like this on youtube, but even without the translation, Beth's impeccable voice infuses so much agony into the lyrics that one is moved anyway
a remarkable performance -- Beth doesn't read music, speak Polish, or sing as a soprano as the symphony dictates -- but her method of having the translated lyrics under the phonetic lyrics while she studied and sang the song was very effective. Like a reviewer I read said -- she does not have a flawless voice, but given the subject matter of the symphony, there's something wonderful about her ability to emote
Beth is probably in my top 3 favorite vocalists ever just because what she does is otherworldly and so very emotional
