The featured 19th-century co-enthronement icon belongs to the so-called non-canonical icons that are quite common in Russian iconography. However, there are debates about what “canons” mean and how they should be regulated. Jesus as a lamb, St. Christopher with a dog head, and the depiction of God the Father are examples of divergence from “normality.” The phenomenon can be explained by the fact that icon painting traditions have been developing over centuries under the influence of different monastic and ascetic practices.

In the video game Sea Of Theives there is a love we develop for finding/plundering treasure from others. Gold, gems, relics, trinkets, chests, all included. Those things make us feel good because it makes us wealthy in the game. My friend Robby yesterday asked me what my treasure in heaven would be and to my surprise I thought of these items mentioned above , and i thought about if they were real and in my possession. i then quickly realized that 😳 something isn't right here. Gold, silver, whatever is all materialistic. Nothing compares to the true treasure in heaven. Jesus and his love are what we should be thinking to treasure. Everything we own on this earth is temporary and not important to the salvation that lies ahead with god. Then why do we sometimes put material things over god first? Because we aren't perfect, we make mistakes and that's okay. That's just part of being human. If you havent been putting god first, your not the only one, for a long time I've left my bible on the shelf untouched and dusty. I would turn my computer on instead every morning and play video games. But that's gonna change because i feel a stir in heart and its feeling more alive then ever, I want to fall in love with my creator and not with these material things. And god and i (as his humble servant) want to help you to have a desire to as well in whatever way possible. For His love is what sets us free.

Even though the Coronation of the Virgin Mary as Queen of Heaven is not described in the Bible, the theme itself has been extensively used by many Western artists. What does Russian iconography have to say? There are not so many icons featuring this particular scene, and yet here you have one. In the picture, you can see Christ placing the crown on the head of His mother. He is accompanied by God the Father and members of the heavenly hierarchy. The piece was painted circa 1860 somewhere in the Russian North.
