so i rewatched nimona today and it was great but ive been puzzling over why on earth the director decided, when she thought ambrosius was confronting her with zero evidence beyond his faith in ballister, to pull out the actual proof of ballisters sword and kill him with it.
it seemed like the most incriminating possible choice!
and then i realized she did it with ballister's sword because she was going to frame him for ambrosius's death, too.

request from anon: Hi! Can I request a Stray Kids oneshot centering around deaf Chan and insomniac Seungmin? It's a concept that's been floating around my head but I just don't think I'll ever get to write it. Friendship or romantic ship, either way would be amazing!
genre / au: angst and fluff / mental hospital?? (is that an au)
word count: 2k (exactly :>)
authors note: gets progressively sloppier sorry... also to anon im sorry it took so long
songs to play: issues by julia michaels and i found by amber run
I opened my eyes slowly and stared up at the ceiling in a state of disappointment. My hand reached out to press the nurse’s button as a sign of support, but my brain told my hand to stop. I pushed myself up and out of the bed.
Walking was better than pills.
I poked my head out of my small room. Fortunately, I didn’t share one with anyone. My lack of sleeping could wake someone else in the room and that wouldn’t be very courteous. But I couldn’t help it.
Insomnia took over my sleeping schedule in seventh grade. I am now 17 (almost 18) and it hasn’t gotten better. My parents sent me here when I was 15. Here, as in, one of Korea’s most popular mental hospitals.
The hallway was clear of nurses, so I crept around the building as silently as I could. I climbed the stairs all the way to the rooftop. My favorite place in (or on) the entire building.
I let out a breath I didn’t realize I was holding. I stood there at the doorway with my eyes closed for a while, until I decided to start moving. I walked over to the rail on the side of the building and looked out at the city lights below. My eyes were lost in the abstractness of the city. I didn’t realize someone else was there until I heard a small chuckle.
“You come here often?”
The boy was handsome. Very. He had curly hair and a natural face. He wasn’t one of those fake faces you see on the television. He was real. He was here. And that’s what pulled us together in the future.
“Yeah, actually. A lot more than I should,” The boy turned around and faced the city. The lights glistened in his eyes and somehow my feet dragged me to stand next to him.
While looking at his profile, I noticed that he had a hearing aid wrapped around his right ear.
“Yeah, I know. What’s a deaf boy doing here at a mental institution?”
“I wasn’t going to be that rude, but something along those lines sounds correct,” He turned to face me again.
“Why don’t we learn each other’s names before we get to the deep stuff?”
“That’s not fun.”
-
About an hour later, he boy and I were sitting in his room talking about anything under and above the sun.
“Why are you here?”
“I’ve been deaf for a while now. I mean- I’m not deaf, deaf. But I’m legally deaf.”
“And that means-”
“I can’t hear 25 decibels in my right ear. But I can hear what I’m saying because it doesn’t have a delay to my brain. And I can hear what you’re saying because I can still hear almost full volume on my left ear. And this thingy,” He said gesturing to his hearing aid, “Anyways, with deafness came a lot of mental issues about self image and things like that. That’s pretty much it.”
“Ah, I’m here because I can’t sleep,” A deep bumbly sort of laughter erupted from the boy’s throat. I joined in soon after. It sounded weird.
“Yes, it’s true. I have insomnia. It messes up my sleeping habits. Obviously. But it also results in me not eating at the correct times or at all. It’s a whole mess in itself.”
There was a long pause.
“I should head back to my room,” I suggested. He just watched me get up.
“Wait.” He urgently rushed to my side, “What’s your name?”
“Go to room 203 tomorrow at 7 and you can find out.”
-
The next day went by way too slow. I wanted to see him again. I had to see him again.
“Are you okay? You’re spacing out again,” Jeongin asked me.
“Yeah, I just want the day to go by quicker,” I sighed.
“I wish I could help,” Felix replied.
“Hey, guys!” Jisung cheered, setting his tray down at our lunch table, “Meet Hyunjin!”
“Jisung, we already know Hyunjin. You do too,” Felix concerningly replied. Jisung’s amnesia wasn’t getting much better.
-
7:00 finally arrived. So did he.
He walked in and closed the door behind him.
“Chan.”
“Seungmin.”
We stood there in silence for a while.
“You can come further into the room,” I paused, “Chan.”
He walked closer to me, “I like the way you same my name,” He paused as well, “Seungmin.”
He sat down in the chair next to my bed.
“I’m not very good at small talk.”
“Neither am I.”
“Does this count as small talk?”
“I think so.”
-
After a few more awkward moments, we both loosened up and talked for a few more hours until,
“They don’t check your rooms? It’s 10:30, they should be here by now,” Chan furrowed his eyebrows.
“No, there have been too many situations where insomniacs finally go to sleep, but someone comes in and wakes them up accidentally.” I explained, “Wait! They still check your room!”
We both sprinted out of the room as quietly as we could. Our feet slapped against the floor as we ran up the stairs to the fourth level. Our small giggles slipped as we realized how funny the situation is.
One man was facing away from us once we opened the door to the fourth floor. We slid away from him, trying not to make much noise. Once we reached Chan’s room, he slid into his bed.
“What am I going to do? If they see me we’re both dead!” I whisper-screamed.
“Cabinet!” He pointed to his bedside table, “They check the closet, but not the cabinets!”
I was afraid I was to big to fit inside of the small cupboard. But I did it anyways. My legs hit my chest and my arms pulled them closer to me. My head rested on my knees. To say I was uncomfortable was an understatement.
I heard the door creak open slowly. Footsteps got closer and closer. First they stopped around Chan’s bed. Then the closet. Then me. I stopped breathing for a second. They were staying here longer than the other places.
Had they heard us?
Suddenly Chan fake snored and the footsteps left the room. I let out my breath. Chan opened the cabinet door.
“You look cute when you’re small.”
“I don’t feel very cute,” I moved my head around with what room I had left.
“Ah,” He held his hand out for me to grab onto. I hesitated. I’ve never held anyone else’s hand that wasn’t my parents.
I grabbed onto him and swung my legs out into his room. My head cam next, and then I scooted myself out of the tiny cupboard.
I was still holding Chan’s hand when he pulled me up and to my feet. He dragged me out of his room, looking around to see if anyone was watching. He pulled me towards the stairs again and we ran all the way up to the rooftop, with our hands still intertwined.
We stayed there until the morning. Looking at the stars. Our hands intertwined. Our hearts content.
This happened every single night for the next 3 and a half months. Until one day things got a little out of hand.
All I heard was screaming. That was enough to make my heart jump out of my chest. But what really made me sprint to the room, was the fact that it was Felix. He was having a schizophrenic episode. And it wasn’t good.
I saw nurses rushing in to get him to calm down. He was running everywhere, throwing anything and screaming everything. His reality was being altered and maybe this time there was no turning back.
I could never imagine what it’s like to feel what he feels and to see what he sees, but it must be absolutely terrifying.
The nurses grabbed ahold of him and one woman took out her walkie talkie and called someone. Security ran in soon and pinned Felix down to the ground. He thrashed around pushing the security guards and kicking the nurses. I yelled and screamed for them to stop hurting him. He’s only 17. Two nurses eventually got ahold of me, but I didn’t keep quiet. I saw a security guard reach in his pocket.
I tried so hard to stop them from doing what they were about to do.
“No! You can’t do that! Stop!”
The guard pulled out a taser and turned it on. He was about to shock Felix’s shoulder when Felix lashed out again and turned at the wrong time. The taser rays hit him in the chest.
-
I couldn’t bring myself to go to his funeral.
The taser struck his heart and sent him into cardiac arrest. It was terrifying. The entire lunch table fell to pieces. Jisung’s amnesia got even worse. Jeongin’s Asperger’s Syndrome turned into a more severe form of Autism. Hyunjin found a way to start abusing alcohol again.
I couldn’t even think about sleeping. I could barely even think about Chan. All I could think was that Felix deserved better. We all deserve better.
I sat at the rooftop looking at the city in my tux that I was supposed to wear to Felix’s funeral. The door to the roof creaked open and I immediately knew who it was. I turned around and fell into Chan’s arms.
My head rested on his shoulder and his chin was on mine. We stayed there like that for a bit.
“I don’t like seeing you sad,” Chan whispered into my ear. I sighed. I wasn’t trying to hurt anyone.
“I’m sorry.”
Chan pushed me off of him gently. He still had his hands on my shoulders, but he had this look in his eyes.
He was confused. His eyebrows were furrowed and his eyes ran around my face. He was looking for something. Anything.
It was in that moment that I realized that Chan was always there for me. I realized that he had never let me down. I realized that I didn’t want to let him down. I also realized that the sparkle from the city looked really pretty in his eyes. I realized that I was fucked.
I love Chan.
-
After that night I haven’t been the same. It’s been pure torture. I can’t look at Chan, I can’t talk to Chan, I can’t even think about Chan.
But, God, do I think about him a lot.
He’s so beautiful.
He’s got the most amazing personality.
And some of the best hair I’ve seen in a while.
“I love you,” I said one day as we sat in my room watching the television.
“I love you too,” He responded mindlessly.
“No. No, like, I’m in love with you,” I turned on my side to face him. He turned to face me too.
His eyes. They had that look again. Where they’re looking for something.
“I’m sorry, Seungmin,” He got up and left.
-
It’s been three weeks and he turns around every time I see him in the hallway. I’ve never slept this bad.
One night it was raining way too hard for me to even think of sleep. I walked out of my room and up to the rooftop.
I was drenched by the rain in just a few seconds. I didn’t really care. My mind was as blank as my face. I walked over to the edge of the roof back to the rail where it all began.
“You come here often?”
The memory was loud and clear. It was disturbingly realistic.
“So I finally grow a pair and talk to you for the first time in, like, a month, and you don’t even turn around?”
Very realistic. I turned around and found Chan standing in front of me. I walked over and stumbled into his arms, giving him the biggest hug I could manage.
I pulled back after a while and looked down into his eyes. “Why?”
“Because I love you.”

Vampire Prince!Yoo Kihyun x Siren!Reader
Much angst, maybe fluff
Vampire world!AU
A/N: Hello everyone! Thank you so much for all the love! We’re so sorry for the delay in posting. Thanks to everyone for understanding! Here is the next chapter, please enjoy!
Disclaimer: This store is pure fiction. Yoo Kihyun and the rest of Monsta X are the sweetest creatures on this earth, we know they would never do anything to harm or manipulate anyone.
Trigger warning: Mentions of manipulation, abuse and blood for right now. Very slight mention of sexual assult.
“Prince Kihyun, I-I’m in love with you!” The Prince's eyes widen in shock at your confession. “I know I shouldn't be but I can't help it!”
Prince Kihyun grabs your hands tightly and pulls you to him. “Y/N, I'm in love with you too! I don't know how it happened but it did. Please, run away with me! We can be together!”
Suddenly you feel a pair of hands rip you from Prince Kihyun’s grasp. You turn your head to see the Queen, a dark look on her face.
“You were told to not have feelings for the Prince. As it's against the law, you will be executed.”
Your jaw drops. You look to Prince Kihyun as he's being pulled away by the King. “No! Let me go! Don't take Y/N away from me, please!”
You reach your hand out towards the Prince. “Prince Kihyun, don't go! Help me!”
One last tug from the Queen, and you're suddenly falling into a dark void.
“PRINCE KIHYUN!”
You suddenly jolt awake, your face covered in sweat and you’re breathing heavily. You look around the room and sigh with relief. 'Thank god, it was just a dream.’ You look down at your shakey hands. 'But now I really can't tell him how I feel. Ever. Not after that dream.’
All of a sudden, the door to your room busts open to reveal a panting and sweaty Prince. His eyes are filled with concern.
“Y/N? What happened? Are you alright?”
You chuckle at his appearance but stop. “Y-Yeah. It was just a bad dream.”
Prince Kihyun sighs. “Ah I see. Well, I'm glad you are alright.” He walks into the room completely and shuts the door behind him. He loosens his tie and sits across from you in the desk chair. “Now, if you would please remove your collar, I would like to feed.”
Remembering what Wonho said, you swallow the lump in your throat. “P-Prince Kihyun, before we do that, c-could you tell me about the law?”
He pauses and raises an eyebrow. “What about the law?” Letting out a low growl.
“The law that states that humans and vampires can't be together. Wonho said it was a long story and that I should ask you.”
Prince Kihyun narrows his eyes. “You've got a lot of nerve to interrupt my feedings with questions like that, girl.”
You gain a little courage. “Please, my Prince. I just want to know why you hate humans so much,” you look down at your fiddling fingers. “Why you hate me so much…”
“You need to tell her what happened! She deserves to know why you have nothing but hatred towards her!”
Those words that Wonho said ring through the Prince’s mind. He looks at your face, the expression upon your features strain his heart. He sighs and runs a hand through his hair.
“Very well, then. I guess you do deserve some sort of explanation.” He gives you a hard look. “But I will not hold anything back. If you're going to learn about the reason behind the laws that are in place, you're going to learn properly. Understood?”
You nod eagerly. “Yes, Prince Kihyun.”
He nods, content with your response. He closes his eyes and takes a deep breath. “This happened not too long ago. Give or take 3 years. I had a best friend, a human best friend actually. We had been friends since childhood, practically inseparable. He was one of the children of the feeders in the castle. His name was Min Yoongi.”
He glances up to see if you're following along. You nod in encouragement, letting him know you're listening.
“One day, he started getting distant. Everytime I wanted to hang out, he would tell me he had somewhere else to be. And if we did get the chance to spend time together, his mind always seemed elsewhere.” He clenches his fists. “Then, that fateful day had come. I was sitting in the library studying quietly when I heard a scream. It had come from my sister's room next door. I ran out of the library and into her room. What I saw next ruined me.” He looks deep into your eyes, trying to hold back tears. “There I saw Min Yoongi, my best friend, with a stake in his hand and my sister dead on the floor.”
You gasped, a hand flying up to your mouth. “Oh no…”
Prince Kihyun nods. “Turns out he was training to become a vampire Hunter. My best friend training to become the killer of my kind.” he blinks back tears, his face once again emotionless. “Ever since then, that law has been in place. Humans and Vampire are no longer able to be lovers nor friends, nothing other than Master and servant. That's why my family has all these inner issues with each other now. That's why it took me so long to find a feeder. That's why my mother was worried when you were released from your chains. She was afraid of that happening again.”
You lay a hand on his shoulder. “I'm so sorry that happened, Prince Kihyun. I could never imagine the pain you must feel.”
You stare into the beautiful face of the Prince. He takes one of your hands and places it in his and traces your cheek with his other finger. Everything is still once again, the quiet deafening. His eyes flicker to your lips and he leans closer to your face. Before he could make contact, the two of you hear a knock at the door, making you both jump apart instantly.
“C-Come in,” you squeak out.
The door opens to reveal Princess Soyou. She smiles shyly and bows her head. “Excuse me, I’m so sorry to interrupt the two of you but Prince Kihyunie, would you kindly escort me to the library? We have some paperwork we need to finish up.”
'Kihyunie? Did she really just call him that?’ As much as you wanted to barf at that moment, you restrain yourself from making any noise.
Prince Kihyun clears his throat. “Ah yes, of course. If you'll excuse me, Y/N. I'll be back to have that feeding. Don't leave the room.”
You watch as the Prince and the Princess make their way out of your room. Once the door closes, you flop back onto your bed and groan. 'Why the hell did I have to fall for the one person who is not only out of my league, but out of my reach.’
You wanted to start singing again but you knew after what happened last time, it wasn't such a good idea. Instead, you decide to count the ceiling tiles to pass the time.
“...120, 121, 122,” with every tile you count, the worse your boredom becomes. Suddenly your stomach growls loudly.
'Oh yeah, I never actually got to have dinner at the party last night.’
Prince Kihyun told you not to leave the room without him so you decide to go find him to take you to the kitchen. You open the door to your room and peek into the hallway to make sure no one was in sight. After seeing the corridor empty, you make your way to the library.
You hesitate in front of the door of the library before slowly opening it. Once the door is open, you slowly stick your head in to see Prince Kihyun and Princess Soyou doing more than just sitting side by side. You quickly but quietly close the door.
'Bad idea, bad idea.’ You close your eyes and shake your head, trying to get rid of the picture in your head of the two of them lip-locking.
You sigh and head back to your room. 'Guess I'll just starve.’
Before you make it to your room, you're suddenly grabbed by the waist harshly. You struggle and try to scream but another hand clamps over your mouth. The person pulls you into a room and the door shuts behind you.
You growl and kick the person who had a hold on you, causing them to let go. You take a few steps and whirl around to see who had dared put their hands on you. Immediately your face pales when you see it's not just one Vampire, but two.
“My, my. Feisty one, aren't you.” Minhyuk smirks, rubbing his leg where you kicked him.
IM chuckles next to him. “This will be even more fun than I thought.”
Your hand flies to your collar to call Prince Kihyun but suddenly your body freezes. You notice IM’s eyes have turned yellow. “Ah ah, I wouldn't do that if I were you. Instead, why don't you gently remove the wretched collar and throw it over onto the table.”
As hard as you try to fight his magic, you're still no match for a member of the Monsta Clan. You glare at both royals, your eyes flashing an icy blue. You unwillingly unbuckle the collar and throw it over onto the desk.
Minhyuk takes a step towards you, causing you to try to take a step back but IM’s magic has you trapped. Minhyuk reaches for you and runs a cold finger along the base of your neck. When his finger touches Prince Kihyun's bite marks, you shiver.
“The Prince really did a number on your neck, didn't he,” he licks his lips. “Guess we'll just have to cover them up with our own bites.”
Your eyes start to well up with tears and your body trembles. “Y-you wouldn't.”
IM laughs more maniacally this time and takes a step towards you too. “Yes. We would actually.”
Your mind races as you try to think of something to say to get them to stop. A thought comes to mind. “W-wait! Are you two really going to share me? IM, I thought your greediness would want you to have me all to yourself.” You bat your eyes convincingly.
IM gets a thoughtful look on his face. “Well, of course I'd rather have you all to myself.”
Minhyuk comes up behind you. “That's what our original plan was. To see who could have your blood first.”
IM comes right up in front of you. “But we thought it would be easier to just take you together. So, nice try, girly. But trying to pit us against each other isn't going to work.”
A sharp pain shoots through the back of your neck as Minhyuk latches on. You yelp and try to push him back with your elbow, but IM quickly grabs both your wrists and lunges for the front of your neck.
“Not so fast human,” IM sneers as his fangs sink deep into your neck.
You never felt so much blood leave you all at once. ‘Damn, these boys can feed! I’m going to pass out if they don’t stop…’
IM suddenly stops to bark at Minhyuk. “Hey! Leave me some blood you jerk!”
Minhyuk pauses. “Oh, you mean like this…” His fangs sink so deep you feel it hit some nerves in your neck. The pain was excruciating. He rips your shirt and quickly pulls down your bra strap. As much as you fought him he still was able to place his nasty hands over your breast.
You grew incredibly weak and started to feel cold. IM notices this and smiles.
“Guess I’ll just have to suck faster too.” He sinks his fangs in your neck once again and joins Minhyuk in using you as a disposable feeder. Only alive to please the hungry and lustful vampires.
You whimper and cry as if it made a difference. Wiggling, struggling, and hitting the vampires hoping they would get off. ‘Just let me die already…’
Unknowingly you let out a low whisper calling out for him. “Prince...Kihyun…”
Suddenly you feel IM and Minhyuk thrown off you. You open your eyes to see an extremely pissed off Prince.
“WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON?!” Prince Kihyun yells in his deep voice, his eyes flashing blood red.
IM and Minhyuk pick themselves up off the floor and glare at the Prince. But before they could say anything, Prince Kihyun holds up a hand to stop them.
“I seriously don't want to hear it,” he growls. “Get. Out. Of. My. Room. And. My. Castle. Before. I. Kill. You.”
IM and Minhyuk scurry out of the room before they catch the wrath of the Prince. That just leaves you and him alone. He turns his body towards you, a menacing look plastered across his face.
The more he scans you and the damage that was done, his eyes start to soften up. It was a mixed look of rage and concern that took over his face.
“What. HAPPENED?!”
“Prince Kihyun! I-I was really hungry... And I -”
He puts up his hand just like he did to IM and Minhyuk. You stop. Tears falling down your face. He takes another glance at you. This time there was not an ounce of sincerity that you could find in his eyes.
“This story sounds very familiar. You know, you humans...DISGUST ME! The only reason we have your filthy kind around is to serve us vampires and that is all!”
His words pierced your heart. “B-but, Prince! Please hear me out… I was only looking for you!”
Prince Kihyun’s back was turned. He scoffs and looks off to his side. “And instead you found two other vampires in which you could whore yourself off to. You’ll never mean anything more to me than a filthy human slave.”
And just in that moment your world collapsed, your heart stopped, and your jaw dropped to the floor.
“Y-YOU BASTARD! I wish I NEVER broke in and I wish I NEVER met you!!”
You pushed Prince Kihyun to the side and bolted out the door crying. He didn’t even budge to go after you.
As you ran down the hallway you accidentally bumped into another vampire. This time a female vampire.
“Oh my! You shouldn’t be running through the Royal halls my dear.” She helps you up by lending you a hand.
“A-ah! Princess Soyou! Sincerest apologies. Please forgive me.” Bowing your head before her.
Suddenly you feel her aura change. You didn’t even have to look at her to know her whole demeanor was different. ‘This can’t be good…’
“Hmph. I noticed you were spying on me and the Prince earlier. Did you like what you saw?” Princess Soyou mockingly giggles.
Though you wanted to take her down, you knew you had to bite your tongue for the sake of your life. You clear your throat. “Seeing the Prince happy? Why of course. That is all a servant could hope for.”
The Princess circles you as she smiles the most devilish smile. “You know, I hate your kind, but especially you. Prince Kihyun looks at you and thinks about you in a different light. He’s not like that with me.”
You chuckle. “A pretty face is nothing when you have an ugly soul.”
Princess Soyou swiftly backhands you and you fall into the arms of two vampires.
“You’re going to wish you hadn’t said that.”
Suddenly you feel lightheaded and your vision went in and out of focus. You struggle, punching and kicking at random until you the vampires lost grip of you.
Your strength was leaving you, but you crawled as quick as you could while looking over your shoulder. ‘M-Minhyuk and IM!? I’m so fucked…’
Trying to get up on your feet you had to brace yourself with the wall. Out of habit you grab your neck. This time, you had wished the collar was on.
“Stupid girl. Prince Kihyun can’t save you. Not this time.” She laughed as she had the upper hand.
“Y-you… YOU BITCH!”
You fall to the ground as the room around you started to fade to black.
