Favorite thing about them: Oh man there's not much to talk about in canon outside of the oc I made from them. But I still think they're very cool!! I also find them felling affection for Ryuunosuke to be very sweet, they're the only character in the whole series together with Higuchi who's ever shown to genuinely care about him.

Least favorite thing about them: How they weren't given a personality outside of “Akutagawa's sister”. Like, I love Gin, but being honest, it's more of loving the character I built pretty much from scratch for them in my mind, because canon literally never gave them a personality. Also, I don't like the voice actor choice for them… I don't know if I'm being conservative with this, but I find that kind of hyperfemininity they're depicted having sometimes (their high-pitched voice, the onsen scene in Wan) pretty stereotypical, that taste of “all tough girls deep down actually want to be delicate and femminine” from old medias I don't really vibe with.

Favorite line:

This one, because it's funny, and specifically because it's a non-verbal line. I like the idea of Gin using their sword more than they use their mouth.

brOTP: Look, I'm weak for siblings dynamics. They're always my favourite thing. I don't remember ever having an hyperfixation that didn't include siblings dynamics. I love love love the Gin / Ryuunosuke relationship and could talk about them for days. ALSO the Black Lizard in general I've already talked about them here I care so much about them. I really like tachigin platonically too. And I like Gin's dynamics with Higuchi, I actually like them better platonically.

OTP: I dig everything tachigin, I really like them and the “I'm not who I say I am but you know me better than myself even though you don't know my true identity” deal they have going on. I also like the idea of Gin and Naomi 👀👀👀 talkative gf x gf who's never said a word their whole life. Also my personal crack ship Gin × Paula ThePromisedNeverland

nOTP: ... I don't really dig higu/gin. Higu/gin friends, please forgive me. I just think that starting dating the person your brother has repeatedly abused would be super awkward, and I don't think I really like the idea of Higuchi basically dating Ryuunosuke's sister as rebound guy. Also it's just a thing with me and not being a fan of vanilla / sugar spice and everything nice wlw ships. I do acknowledge they have their fair share of scenes together and that they're perfect to be interpreted romantically!! The latest volume 23 omake especially, it can perfectly be taken as romantic. It's just not something that does it for me, and tbh I like them better with having a kind of sisters dynamics, with Higuchi being this kind of very exuberant and silly self-assigned older sister and Gin who just likes her and enjoys hanging out with her.

Random headcanon: Oh boy, may I introduce you to my Gin brainrot. I really have so many ideas about them. Apart from what I've already mentioned, I really like the idea of them having selective mutism, especially as it's shown in Wan. I don't think they're someone to talk in general. The Akutagawas household must be death silent 24/7 lol.

Unpopular opinion: I just wish people would give them more flaws. I'ver read my fair share of Gin fics, and in all of them they're always this kind of sassy / funny / witty / pretty / confident / charismatic / overall perfect person. As result, I find them quite boring to read, and they particularly pale in comparison to Ryuunosuke; especially since at least for me it's his flaws that make him such a compelling character. I wish we'd extend some of his flaws to Gin too. They're bad at communication and expressing their feelings. They're aggressive and pessimistic. Idk, anything that makes them a little more human.

Song i associate with them: How To World Domination by Neru. Just the overall imaginary it evokes of two siblings close in age fighting together in a world that is both violent and war-ridden, and terribly domestic and mundane. The feeling of being lonely together. Them both fighting to become a better version of themselves, a kinder version of themselves, even, before my heart grows numb from the cold. This song really is one that always evokes the Akutagawa siblings in my mind whenever it comes on shuffle. Also, Re-education by Neru, for similar reasons.

Gin: What was your favorite attraction/trap?

i LOVED the final attraction of ch 2 SO MUCH... it broke me in the best way possible, and although i do think the room of lies could’ve been more subtle, the point it brings up in this is incredibly interesting to me - especially when it shines light on asunaro’s own intentions as well. it brings up so much intrigue to the story, and although i do believe in a life/death situation that it is a bit more clear-cut, i think it is an interesting experiment. especially for people you had no prior knowledge of, they’re still replicas close enough to the living person that the minor inconsistencies are practically irrelevant. it’s very cool, and i like how it directs you to the main point demonstrated in the game.

also the siblings storyline fucking ruined me </3

Shin: What do you think about the percentages? What would you change, and what would you give to the non-candidates?

the percentages are such a cool concept!!! and it really does demonstrate asunaro’s reign - if only with emphasis upon the control of staging the participants themselves. and all of the scenarios offered there are so... <333 especially a fan of @/pidgeon-peas exploration of sara’s ai specifically, and the dynamic w anzu they’ve drawn out makes me so ;;

i don’t think i’d change much about people’s percentages, but as for non-candidates:

- joe: i think joe’s percentage would be fairly high, perhaps a bit above anzu’s? he shows similar charm to her and is pretty skilled in social regard (subtly cheering up sara wrt her stalker situation, and then the group after ‘gonbee’), and is clearly smart despite his open/friendly demeanor he tends to project (concealing his name, purposefully joining keiji to get a better eye on him, the first main game plan...) ... i think both his and sara’s percentages are high, but lowered by each other - joe’s specifically because he is willing to risk death (or make the most of it in manipulating others) for sara’s sake. and sara’s is because joe is skilled socially and creates a bond with her and the others, that lasts even after his death.

- kai: oh man, i’m very torn on this. i think his percentage is fairly average (maybe on the higher end?), primarily held back by simulations in which he is involved with children or sara (unless the children die quickly; then if his primary goal is escaping to return to the chidouins and ensure their safety, he will find his resolve). he is smart and resourceful, but he would be especially held back by his lack of social skill and the fact he’s reserved makes him a suspicious and disliked figure. he has both resolve and familiarity with the functionality of the trials presented, even if he hasn’t been kept up to date with the specifics of the death game. he will tend to take a very logical path forward, which may put a target on his back, but may result in uneasy bonds between others such as megumi, q-taro (at times), and keiji (post-murder, where prior his percentage was lower/similar status to naomichi) where they’re contested by other participants (naomichi, mai, mishima) who have created their own share of worth so they can’t be executed, but still argue against this ruthless way of doing things. in the end, it is by chance of the cards whether or not logic or emotion prevail. kai can be manipulative and survive the latter route regardless, but if he’s thrown off-guard by someone like sara, or nao, or anzu... as seen in the first main game, it could be the death of him.

- nao: i think nao would have a higher percentage than kai and joe, though probably just above joe’s... she has incredible intuition and is generally a sweetheart which will earn her some protection (as seen with anzu’s percentage as well) through her allies. she’s the one who found the truth of the final attraction in chapter two, and who has created such strength for people such as sara (15.5%...), to which sara feels indebted to her. she may be used, as seen with kai, but you must keep in mind that this was directly taking advantage of her ruined emotional state while she was in mourning, and even then she still eventually found the resolve to move past and regained her full strength. she is a very persistent character who does not let her kindness or compassion hold her back as much, and it’s something the others would come to admire.

- kugie: i will be honest, i don’t think of kugie too much... but i think her percentage would be just between mai/alice, or at least around there. she’s too abrasive to really last too long, but she’s still a kid and is similarly determined to live, especially if her sister is there it will push her forward. without kanna, i imagine she’d be a bit more targeted because kanna could serve a similar role to her as joe did to sara, if she doesn’t have reason to bond with the others, it’s more likely she’ll be cast out for hiding information or acting her own (more obvious) self interest to escape. and, without kanna (who took so long for kugie to properly warm up to), they won’t get to see the caring side of her. her percentage is lifted by her sister, and being a teenager she does find some use when they require it, but she’s remains in the “middle.”

Rio: What would be taken from participants if they died?

reko: her boots, i think (i think ranger’s boots are just standard - but if that’s not it, then probably her pack)

alice: his handcuffs

nao: this is specific to my design for her, but i think it’d be the necklace mishima gave to her :’] subtle, but there...and next to his tie, too.

kanna: seeing as he’s already wearing the hood, he probably wouldn’t want something else there, so i’d opt for the ribbon of her school uniform

sou: the scarf or beanie... it’s more likely to be the scarf though, i think, seeing as it’s representative of two participants’ deaths (hiyori’s and tsukimi’s)

gin: probably the mask; just to ensure no one can see his blank expression

q-taro: the red shirt, though he’d probably only tie it around his waist? otherwise, i’d think of the belt but that’s probably a bit too plain to be as recognizable.

sara: her tights, probably...

keiji: my man only has a vest to his name, so. that one !

& gashu and midori...i think ranger would take gashu’s little nameplate and midori’s scarf or rocket punch or rattail (joking. mostly...midori’s is a bit plain)

Meister: Which character is currently the most suspicious?

gin :[ i went into it a bit in a past post but he constantly avoided the questioning of what he was doing on the first floor, and we hear him scream and then...after the silence...he returns to us in the room of lies, where we know is connected to some sort of doll storage because of ch2-1... i know it’s probably not it, but i worry whether or not he’ll be revealed to be a doll or something similar later on. i wouldn’t be too surprised but i am hoping against it

Hayasaka: Besides who we already know, who do you think has a connection to ASU-NARO?

hmm. honestly most of my guesses have already been revealed aghgms i don’t think any of them were directly raised by asunaro like kai, or directly manipulated like megumi, hayasaka, or keiji... but i do think they all have some sort of tie to the asunaro orphanage. we’ll see how it all ties in in the final chapter i’m sure!!
