Iruka Umino x Reader Fanfiction (Naruto)- Chapter 1
"Iruka-sensei! Look I got it on the target. " You watched as the brown haired teacher moved over to the child, patting her on the head.
"That's really good, keep it up."
"Are you going to keep stalking him from afar." you shrieked at the sudden voice behind you. Pissed, you reached behind your back, pulling out your sword. "If you sneak up on me again Kakashi I'll chop you to pieces." you threatened. Kakashi sweatdropped at the dark look in your eyes. "H-Hai." Your turned back with a huff from behind your hiding spot. You were standing in a tree a few feet away. You smiled watching Iruka interact with the kids below. He was always so attentive with his class. You understood why children liked him. He just had an aura about him.
His gentleness is what made you fall in love with him.
You were about nine years younger than Iruka. The both of you grew up together. Ever since you were a child, he was always looking after you. He treated you like you were precious to him, like a sibling.
That was the problem.
When He became a Jonin, along with the others things changed. Your feelings for him grew, but he never seem to notice. And because you were a little younger when they got promoted, he started to treat you more like a child. Like one of his students. It pissed you off. It felt like no matter what you did, he'd never look at you, not the way you wanted at least.
You thought that if you became a Jonin too, he'd finally look at you like the adult you were, but he never did. You trained hard and manage to earn the status of Jonin. But nothing changed.
"Why don't you just tell him how you feel?" your eyes wavered at Kakashi's statement.
"I-I can't. If he doesn't feel the same..things will get weird. Then he might just accept my feelings out of pity. I don't want that to happen. I-I'm fine with the way things are."
That was a lie.
You hated how things were. You wanted Iruka to look at you and smile the way Asuma did whenever he saw Kurenai. You wanted to hold his hand, hug him close....kiss him.
You wanted to experience all of those things with him.
"What if someone comes along and steals him away. What will you do then? " your eyes widened.
"T-That's not going to happen." you denied. Kakashi shrugged. "Iruka is a very desirable man, there's bound to be others interested in him." Just the thought made you sick to your stomach.
Kakashi felt a bit guilty for the sad look that reflected in your eyes. He reached over patting you on the head. "I'm not trying to discourage you, but you can't mope after him forever. "
You sulked. "I know I just...I don't know what I'd do if he rejects me.." you mumbled.
"I understand." Kakashi said comforting. "How could you. I don't think anyone's ever rejected you." He scratched his head awkwardly. You looked at your feet.
"I use to hope that his was a stupid crush. That when I got older I'd finally stop feeling like this but it only got worse. No matter I do. Why the hell am I so infatuated with him. It pisses me off sometimes." you grumbled. Kakashi chuckled, pulling out his make out paradise novel.
"It just means you truly love him then. That just the way it is sometimes." his eyes directed at the words on the page. You looked up at Kakashi as he leaned on the tree, completely immersed in his book. "Don't you have anyone that love Kakashi?" His eyes shifted in your direction. He looked a bit distant for a second. You smiled to yourself when he didn't answer.
"Why ask, you have someone in mind?" you shook your head.
"Just curious, if I wasn't interested in Iruka I would have probably dated you. " you said with a playful smirk. He smirked under his mask. "It's too bad then." he replied ruffling your hair. You laughed, pushing his hand away playfully. "How about this, when I get with Iruka I'll help you get someone too." Kakashi laughed. "Sure. "
"KAKASHI!!!" you blinked at the sudden yell.
"I CHALLENGE YOU!!"
All you saw was a green suit appear in your view. Both you and Kakashi stepped to the side as Gai missed, crashing to the ground. He landed face first into the ground. A little way in front of the class Iruka was teaching. All the students as well as Iruka turned to watch the scene.
You and Kakashi jumped down from your spot watching Gai twitching form on the floor.
"You really are too much sometimes Gai." you spoke. Your eyes raised when you saw Iruka gazing at you. You blushed, realizing you'd been caught.
"What were you guys doing in the tree?" Iruka questioned. You stammered, unsure of what to say.
"W-We were..K-Kakashi..I-I." Kakashi stepped forward placing a hand on your shoulder.
"We were just practising for an upcoming mission. That was until Gai came along. " You gave Kakashi a grateful smile. Iruka's eyes watched the action closely. Gai sprung to his feet. "We need to have a battle. 100 laps around Konoha!" you sighed. You were pretty sure Kakashi would refuse.
"Alright, well let's get going."
Kakashi said boredly. You were a bit surprised. Gai's fist raised in excitement.
"We'll have to continue another time (Y/N)." you waved as they started walking off. Your eyes followed Kakashi for a while. You marvelled at the light that shone in his eyes as he talked with Gai. Most people would assume he was bored, but he looked genuinely happy.
"Could it be that Kakashi..." you smiled to yourself.
"Okay everyone get going. We'll continue this on tomorrow." your eyes turned back. For a second you forgot Iruka was there. The children grinned waving to him as they ran off, chattering among themselves.
"Iruka." you called moving over to him. He smiled at you. " You looked a bit reluctant to let Kakashi leave. It's unfortunate that Gai came along." you shook your head.
"I don't mind. Kakashi and I spend a lot of time training together. I can't hug him all to myself." you joked. Iruka grinned. "I guess not." The air around you was calming as you walked together.
"Umm, Iruka...do you maybe wanna train for a while?" you asked hopefully.
"Of course. I don't mind."
"Great! Race you to the training grounds." you shouted as you took off running.
"H-Hey, that's cheating!"
