(1-16-24) Remaking my pinned one. Will be keeping pinned one for reference. But the links don't work and I started reformatting.
Hi! I don't know why you're here.
This is where I'm putting my Sims Legacy Save information. I've got a game I play in rotation with aging on played households. This has been an evolving thing, and now I've gotten multiple three-generations families.
I started naming the children by generation letter, but not until halfway through second gen in a random household. I mark these now by changing the names, or by notating with (A), (B), (C) etc. as necessary.
The 'official' records are: Snapshots, where I recap a household at time of switching families and Eulogies, where I recap a Sim's lifetime after their deaths.
I sort through these with tags including the last names of First Played Sims of the bloodline. (Pancakes family, Overton Family, etc.)
Last/Family names are combinations of parents' family names. Same-but-different (like the mother and son pair who reproduced with the same person) get remixed (Scales and Beck becomes Scalebeck and Beckscales).
Families always went Teen Daughter, Child Son in the beginning. I tried to go by household, but it turns out that those constantly change in ways that don't record well. ^ ^;
Due to length and link issues, I will likely be making a second page for Table of Contents. The links on this page are Eulogies (tagged Eulogy)
In only some order, my Save started with...
The Pancakes Family - married pair Bob and Eliza
The Whitfield Family - Craig, Dana, and their children Katherin and Stetson
The Angel Family - Lance, Ellie, and their children Danika and Waylon
The Overton Family - Jennifer and Maddox
The Cullen Family - Anna and her son Valentino
The Pike Family - Gabrielle and Rory, and their children Shawn and Jordan
The York Family - Cleo, and her children Ahmad and Fatima
The Pace Family - Katrina, and her children Kristina and Jefferson
The Scales Family - Shieu, and her children Janice and Dawson
The Holloway Family - Susan, and her children Evageline and Barry
The Brice Family - Chad and Nadine, and their son Walton
The Spencer-Kim-Lewis-Davis Family - Grandparents Dennis and Lydia, Parents Alice and Eric, and child Olivia
The Helton Family - Teens Dillon and Fernanda, and their grandparents who died early
The Pfeiffer Family - Genevieve and her children Benjamin, and Heven
The Blackburn Family - Husband and Wife couple, Annabelle and Bill
The McFarland Family - An old man and his unofficially adopted son, Javier
The Landgrabb Family - married couple Nancy and Geoffrey and YA son Malcolm
The Banks Family - Ayden, Krysten, and their children Lillian and Alan
The Walters Family - Husband and Wife whose names were lost by the game
The Caruso Family - Single Mother whose name was eaten by the game and her son Judah
The Merrill Family - Annie and her child Belmont
Individuals who didn't start as family but ended up paired
Imani Falcon - a sim I made in CAS to pair with someone
Colleen Manning - a townie Imani fell for instead
Lisa Moore - A townie I put into the Overtons to help raise Maddox
Jessie Boston - A townie Alien who lived with Colleen and Imani
Kian Padgett - a townie alien who lived with Jessie, Colleen, and Imani
Tiffani Hobson - a townie who Kian impregnated
Tatum Nixon - a townie that married (b) India Pancakes
Elsa Harms - an Alien who had a baby with Freddie Knapp
Freddie Knapp - A business man who hated kids but liked making them.
NPCs (not playing to death; leaving in the game) - Jana Puckett - A-gen - Mother of several and a high ranking surgeon - Sera Cerda - A-gen - A journalist and socialite
-Fatima York and Janice Scales - B gen - Hate Children and ran away to run a bakery
-Bianca Pancakes - B-gen - A womanizing Police Chief
Special Mention goes to townie Ariella Petty for Gino Pettyburn
Special Mention to townie Ava Tinsley for Ashlynn Puckley
Special Mention also goes to the hiccup with MCCC settings, resulting in Elaina Vatore, as resulting from Lilith and [I changed the game stuff so I can't see the other parent] and Justice Straus, child of Eden Ho and Vladislaus.
~~
Since I'm only linking eulogies, I can't link to anyone not dead/decommissioned yet. Will update as I can.

The Book of Form and Emptiness by Ruth Ozeki Care Work by Leah Lakshmi Piepnzna-Samarasinha The Dawn of Everything by David Graeber and David Wengrow Paul Takes the Form of a Mortal Girl by Andrea Lawlor Crying in H Mart by Michelle Zauner Briefly, a Delicious Life by Nell Stevens The Electricity of Every Living Thing by Katherine May The Membranes by Chi Ta-wei All This Could Be Different by Sarah Thankam Matthews Sterling Karat Gold by Isabel Waidner Old Enough by Haley Jakobson Chlorine by Jade Song The Centre by Ayesha Manazir Siddiqi The World Cannot Give by Tara Isabella Burton Our Share of Night by Mariana Enriquez Extremely Online by Taylor Lorenz Love by Toni Morrison
Did you discover any new authors that you love this year? Yes I read two books by Ruth Ozeki and loved both. I also got more into David Graeber, I read Debt and Bullshit Jobs at the end of last year and really enjoyed The Dawn of Everything this year.
What genre did you read the most of? Hard to say since again I didn't keep track of everything and I haven't used goodreads in a couple years lol bc its owned by amazon but I would say leftist/leftist leaning nonfiction, contemporary fiction written by women and queer people, and fantasy/magical realism.
Was there anything you meant to read, but never got to? So much lol. But the oldest books on my tbr are No Touching by Ketty Rouf, Nature is a Human Right by Ellen Miles, Overtime by Will Stronge and Kyle Lewis, Ecrits by Jacques Lacan, and New Animal by Ella Baxter
Did you meet any of your reading goals? Which ones? Did not have any but I read way more than I have since I was in high school so I'm so happy about that!
Did you get into any new genres? I hadn't read a lot of magical realism (non heavy fantasy) that I'd really enjoyed before.
What was your favorite new release of the year? The World Cannot Give by Tara Isabella Burton, Our Share of Night by Mariana Enriquez, or All This Could Be Different by Sarah Thankam Matthews
What was your favorite book that has been out for a while, but you just now read? Geek Love by Katherine Dunn I think was the oldest book I read this year that I really liked. Or People's History of the United States by Howard Zinn is also a strong contender. Or Illness as Metaphor and AIDS and Its Metaphors by Susan Sontag. Or Love by Toni Morrison.
Any books that disappointed you? While I really enjoyed Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow by Gabrielle Zevin and I would recommend it, I do think it has been somewhat overhyped and failed to live up to my expectations in some respects. I also did not enjoy Venco by Cherie Dimaline as much as I wanted to, given the premise is like a perfect intersection of things I enjoy in books. Try Her Majesty's Royal Coven by Juno Dawson instead, or the Left-Handed Booksellers of London by Garth Nix for similar vibes but way more enjoyable.
What were your least favorite books of the year? I usually DNF books I don't like so hard to say for sure. Milk Fed by Melissa Broder was really not my vibe. I wasn't really surprised because I couldn't stand her previous book about the mermaid(?) but I did like her So Sad Today stuff. I also liked Norwegian Wood exactly as much as I was expecting to, which was, not very much. I've also decided I don't really enjoy reading short story collections.
What books do you want to finish before the year is over? I am currently reading My Tiny Life by Julian Dibbel and Fossil Capital by Andreas Malm, both of which are very dense and I have kind of been sloughing through. Both are super interesting though so hopefully I finish them by the end of the month instead of just reading fiction which I read way faster.
Did you read any books that were nominated for or won awards this year (Booker, Women’s Prize, National Book Award, Pulitzer, Hugo, etc.)? What did you think of them? I just looked at the lists for all the awards listed here and literally the only book I read was Legends and Lattes by Travis Baldor which was nominated for best novel at this years Hugo awards LOL. I added some other ones to my tbr though. I thought it was fun but nothing incredible! I'll read the sequels (my standard of quality for fantasy is a lot lower than other genres lol)
What is the most over-hyped book you read this year? Def Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow by Gabrielle Zevin even though it WAS really good!
Did any books surprise you with how good they were? Yes I was not expecting to enjoy Pageboy by Elliot Page as much as I did! Really well done celebrity memoir. Also I was worried that Extremely Online by Taylor Lorenz would just be about stuff I already knew but it was actually super interesting and went down a bunch of rabbit holes I didn't know a ton about and had great analysis.
How many books did you buy? Way too many. But mostly very cheap on Thriftbooks!
Did you use your library? Oh boy, you wouldn't even believe.
What was your most anticipated release? Did it meet your expectations? I was very excited for README.txt by Chelsea Manning and it did not disappoint (yes it came out in 2022 but I took a second to get to it okay). I also had The Free People's Village by Sim Kern on hold way before it came out and I really enjoyed it!
Did you participate in or watch any booklr, booktube, or book twitter drama? no lmao. i watched a couple youtube videos about tiktok book drama and it was the stupidest shit ive ever seen
What’s the longest book you read? Probably Our Share of Night by Mariana Enriquez. I did listen to it on audio which is the only way I am really able to get through books that long. The longest book I read with my eyes was probably The Book of Form and Emptiness by Ruth Ozeki.
What’s the fastest time it took you to read a book? This is a silly question bc I read some pretty short books. Several books under two hundred pages only took me a few hours.
Did you DNF anything? Why? so much stuff i can't even explain
What reading goals do you have for next year? Keep reading at the pace I am now! and hopefully keep track of the books this time, but not feel pressured to share about books im reading if I don't want to

Rewatched the Florida arc on The Office w/ husband and oh my god it is truly my favorite string of episodes in this entire series. We just finished After Hours, and as nauseating as the Packer stuff is, please enjoy this list of other things that made us howl, in no particular order.
“What’s in it for GSL?” (Gabriel Susan Lewis, referring to himself in the third person)
“FIVE DOTS?!”
“I would like your oakiest chardonnay.”
“Do you want us to get scolded?!”
really Ryan’s entire terrible attempt to hook up with Erin, culminating in “SIX MONTHS?! ok, I’m in love with Kelly.”
Erin being the cutest she has ever been in pursuit of Forbidden Hotel Waffles. You’re gonna be all right, kid.
UN-BE-LIEV-A-BULL! (which I hated when it first aired, but I’ve come around)
AND OBVIOUSLY, THE ENTIRE JIM/CATHY/DWIGHT/THE HYPOTHETICAL BEDBUGS SUBPLOT THAT IS THE REASON I LOVE IT SO:
+ Jim dying from fear of confrontation and his desperate attempts to make a third party intervene (Hey Stanley! Hey buddy! Good to see you! Let’s hang out! All of us, together, in here, because there is definitely no need for me to be alone with Cathy in this room with a bed NO WAIT COME BACK)
+ JIM, that is SO RUDE that you would accuse me of hitting on you, GOD! Now shut up and let me fall asleep on your shoulder, like any normal colleagues who aren’t attracted to each other would do (sidebar: actually, hold up, did she see the season 1 tapes??).
+ I still can’t watch the “SO smug” bedbug imitation without mentally replaying the gag reel version where John & Rainn keep cracking up trying to get through it.
+ Favorite scene I can’t believe they deleted, in which Pam teases Jim about Cathy and he does indeed look really cute while being embarrassed. I still can’t believe there was ever even the idea of really having Jim kiss Cathy in this ep. Like. This is so much funnier in every way??
P.S. Pam is so pretty in this episode. Every single time I see it, I have the exact same thought process about how unbelievably gorgeous she looks. Her hair is golden and perfectly styled and her outfit looks great on her; I dunno, she just glows.

I wanted to add something to Gabriel Susan Lewis’s fandom. I like his face, I made a little study of it.
Love his facial expressions, they make me soft and they make me laugh.
I like to imagine myself asking him to pose for me and then, after three hours of drawing, handing him this.
Thank you for coming to my TED talk.

Zach Woods’ Advice
Excerpted from Will Hines’ blog Improv Nonsense, which I could not figure out how to reblog this from so I made a new post.
Well the first and best set of advice I have to offer isn’t even mine. It’s from UCB Performer Zach Woods in an email he sent to then-UCB student (now teacher and performer) Achilles Stamatelakey about this very problem. In Achilles’ words:
In May 2006, I had no confidence in my improv.  After taking classes for a year-and-a-half, I felt like I was only getting worse at performing.  I sent the following e-mail to some of the teachers and coaches I’d worked closely with at the time to seek their advice.
I’m not feeling great about my improv and I hope you can give me some advice.
I don’t remember when I’ve felt this unconfident in my performance. For the past month or so, I’ve constantly felt indecisive in scenes (both in practices and performances). I also feel way in my head and tentative. I find myself making moves because they seem like the “right” move to make, not because they’re best for the scene or the most fun. I’m making weak choices and end up in mediocre scenes because of it. In other words, I feel like I’m stuck “improvising” rather than “playing” a scene.
Part of my lack of confidence might stem from having some really great rehearsals and shows in March, then having really high expectations of myself in April during Harold team auditions and not meeting those expectations. That I got rejected from two teacher-approved performance workhops hasn’t helped my confidence either. It’s a vicious cycle.
What do you do when you feel like you’re in a rut? I want to feel like I’m improving my skills as an improviser in some way, but I haven’t felt confident in weeks. I don’t see myself getting out of this slump anytime soon.
Thanks again for all your help.
- Achilles
I got a bunch of responses, all of which I am extremely grateful for. Here is one of those responses:
Hey Achilles,
I’m sorry you’re feeling this way. Everyone gets in ruts from time to time, and I know how discouraging it feels. While there are some things you can do to help, I think the short (and probably disappointing) answer is you’ve just got to ride it out. Ruts always last longer than we want them to, but they don’t last forever. So try to be patient….as impossible as that sounds.
Here’s some other stuff….
-I think sometimes people who care a great deal about improv can get so wrapped up in the improv community and improv itself that their self-esteem becomes dependent on the quality of their improv. This happens to me more often than I’d like, and it’s always bad news for both my improv and my self-esteem. I think it’s important to remember (especially when you’re  in a slump) that the qualities that make you valuable as a human being have nothing to do with group games or tag-outs. Whether or not you’re a worthwhile person has nothing to do with improv. If you’re doing awesome shows, you could still be an asshole, if you’re doing bad shows you could still be a kind, generous guy. Hopefully you’re not neurotic enough to be plagued by these issues, but, I know I am, so I figured I’d mention this stuff, just in case. So….
Remind yourself that your value as a person is in no way related to, or dependent on the quality of your improv.
- Another thing that can put people in their heads is a need to “achieve.”
While it’s great to get some validation in the form of recognition or approval, I think it’s best not to put too much stock in external recognition. The warm, mushy feeling that comes from ‘achieving’ (getting put on a team, class, etc.) is fleeting, and soon you’re back to worrying and working and trying to improve. I think it’s good to be patient and to  move at your own rate. Try not to measure your progress against  other people’s progress. I know that’s hard (maybe impossible) but I think if you allow yourself to improve at your own rate, it liberates you from the self-conscious, insecure, self-flaggelation that is anathema to good improv. Put your nose to the grindstone and do the work. It’s important to have goals, but I think it’s also important that those goals be rooted in personal progress rather than external achievement.
- Slumps are sometimes a result of improv-overkill. If you’ve been watching and doing improv constantly, it’s possible that you’re a bit burnt out. Good improv isn’t inspired by other improv, it’s inspired by life. If all you do is do/watch improv, you may have a deficit of life experiences to draw from.  Take time to do the non-improv activities that you enjoy—  things that have absolutely nothing to do with comedy. This will allow you to recharge.  It will also put you back in touch with the things that make you unique and interesting as a person. That stuff is essential to good improv. Improv isn’t just about game and technique, it’s also about personality. It’s important to take time to do non-comedy things that make you who you are. Listen to the music you like, read a book, fly a kite, hang out with your non-improv friends, go swimming, walk a dog, do whatever you want as long as it doesn’t require a coach. Just get away from improv.
In a weird way it’s kind of like the game of a scene. If all you do in a scene is hit game, game, game, and you never play the reality of the scene, both the game and the scene will feel inorganic and contrived. Similarly, in life, if all you do is improv, improv, improv, and you don’t do interesting, fun non-improv stuff, your improv will feel stiff, and your life won’t feel so good either (in my experience).
-Get a new pair of shoes. I don’t know if this works, but I was in a slump once and I asked Peter Gwinn what I should do. He told me to get new shoes and wear them during rehearsals/shows. Make sure they are significantly different from the shoes you currently wear to rehearsals/performances. This might be bullshit, but it might be a miracle cure.
-Eat healthy, sleep well, exercise. I find that this stuff makes a huge difference. Taking care of your body allows you to focus better, etc. You probably already do this, but if not, eat some soy and get 8 hours of REM.
- If you feel like a show/rehearsal went badly, don’t beat yourself up. If you notice yourself moping or obsessing over the show, try to do something to take your mind off it. You are not helping your improv by mentally abusing yourself. Self-flaggelation is just a way of indulging one’s own insecurities and fears. Sometimes you can’t help it, but  try to avoid abusing yourself if you can.
- And remember, your slump is temporary. It’s more in your own head than in reality.
Be patient, relax, and your slump will pass. Seriously.
You’re going to be alright,
Zach
PS. I apologize if this email comes off as pedantic and/or convoluted.
Besides the great advice, my favorite part of this e-mail is that Zach apologizes at the end for having written it.  Very Zach.
