Benzaiten Steel and the Case of Mistaken Identity
Ben has a very awkward morning on the Carte Blanche...
Just a fun little scene from a happier, better universe where Ben is alive and happy and committing intergalactic crimes with his brother and their new family.
Please consider reblogging or leaving a comment over on Ao3!
---
Contrary to popular belief, there were a lot of differences between the Steel Twins.
Sure, there was the obvious stuff like the hairstyle and the general disposition, how you could tell which one you’d bumped into on any given day by whether they were smiling or scowling. There was the dress sense and the scars and the tattoos that didn’t match, except for the one. And, of course, the different number of eyes.
But Benten had always thought it was the smaller differences, the ones nobody noticed, that mattered. That made them Juno and Benzaiten, not just the Steel Twins. Not that he resented being seen as one of a matched set, of course not. It was wonderful to work with Juno on the Carte Blanche, to live in the same space as him again and see him every day, tired in the mornings and working furiously into the evenings, to sit with him and have meals as a family with the rest of their crew. To always have him in arms reach, to show him a funny video on his comms or hang off his shoulders as they stood together. To use their nearly but not identical faces in their work, making people believe there was only one of them and seeing their faces when it all fell into place.
Benten knew how it felt to lose his brother and he never wanted to go back to that.
Still, it was nice to have their own individual quirks even if they went unnoticed. Like this, like how Benten was always the early riser while Juno would stay in bed as long as decent society allowed him. He’d gotten used to it as a kid; the three buses he had to take to his dance class had meant getting up just before sunrise six days out of seven. Juno’s hobbies, which were what Ben charitably called his obsessions, his research or his work meant he stayed up late buried in files and data, seeing patterns in it that no one else would, with one eye or two. Often when they were teenagers, he’d be up and about to head out just as Juno was dragging his carcass to bed.
That had led to an intimate familiarity with another difference, how each twin took his coffee.
Benten had the kitchen of the Carte Blanche to himself, the SimSun lights just kicking into gear. Soon the ship would come to life, the noises of some mechanical fix going on from the cargo bay as Jet began his first task of the day, Buddy humming to herself as she sat in her cabin and made the impossible possible, the clatter of Vespa sharpening tools in the med bay either to hurt or to heal, the hammering of fingers on keys as Rita worked at her comms, over the too loud chatter of her stream. And Ransom...well, Ransom doing whatever he did on a morning with his usual eerie silence. All that would come but for now it was quiet, just the sound of his bare feet sticking to the tiles as he moved around and the song he was whistling.
Today was going to be a good day, Benten told himself triumphantly. They were back in charted space which meant he could video call Mick, hearing his boyfriend’s voice and seeing his beautiful, ridiculous grin for the first time in weeks. The thousands of miles between them would shrink to the width of a comms screen and everything would feel better.
And it would start with coffee. He did feel a little pang of guilt at only making two cups, one for him and one for Juno, but it was hard to break traditions that were decades old. He’d always left one waiting for his brother in their crappy little Oldtown kitchen, for when he’d reluctantly follow him into consciousness. He’d always wanted the first thing Juno knew when he woke up was that someone was looking out for him. And to drink some coffee because he probably looked like shit.
Juno liked to pretend he was the toughest, meanest lady around, making Benten wonder if anyone else knew he took his coffee with three sugars and enough cream to make it barely a few shades above white. He mixed in each spoonful of freeze dried coffee and powdered, stasis milk carefully, though it would never taste like the real stuff you got planetside. There was a lot about long haul space travel that sucked. The food was ninety percent of it.
Still, it was hot and sweet and prickling with caffeine, in the mug Rita had painted herself with ‘world’s best boss’ printed on the side, and Benten knew his brother would really appreciate it. It would make him smile in that rough, crooked way he did, the smile that didn’t come out very often but Ben wished it would. People deserved to see it.
He stopped whistling as he balanced the mugs in his hands, trying really hard not to slop any over the sides. Sure the cleaning bots would take care of any spills but Benten had always felt mean about giving them any work to do. The kitchen door slid shut behind him, the mechanism not quite what it had been when the ship was new and making more noise than it should. Juno’s room wasn’t far, none of them had spread out much from the others even with all the rooms to choose from. He should only be a few doors down.
But as Ben moved past the bathroom door, he heard the sound of running water and his brother’s unmistakable rough voice, singing as he showered. Ben grinned to himself, pausing a moment to listen while Juno butchered a peppy, upbeat dance number that had come on the radio the other day. He had a good voice, though he’d never admit it, this just wasn’t his vibe. Still, he sang it cheerily and Ben could imagine him bouncing on the balls of his feet and swaying his hips in time to the beat as he soaped his hair.
Why was he up so early? What had him in such a good mood? Ben wondered briefly before realising he didn’t care all that much. What mattered was Juno smiling, singing, dancing, it didn’t matter why. Clearly, life on the Carte Blanche was doing him good, shaking him out of the dark place he’d been in ever since he’d lost the eye, regained it and lost it again. Just as Ben had hoped when he’d agreed to come with his brother and live as an interplanetary thief.
He had to take a few deep breaths so he didn’t cry then and there, just hearing his brother doing something as simply alive as singing in the shower.
Benten kept walking, thinking he would just leave Juno’s coffee in his room for him to come back to. And then maybe he’d ask him to play video games or watch a stream or ask if he could work on the stuff for their next job in his room. Anything just to be near him and see the light back on in his eye, to know for sure that he’d really got his brother back.
Benzaiten was still lost in his own thoughts as he approached the bunk Juno had claimed as his own, the one with the glitter covered sign that read ‘Mister Steel’s Room’ in Rita’s handwriting, the same as the ones she’d made for all of them on their first day aboard. He was so distracted, he couldn’t even be startled when the door opened before he was anywhere near it.
Or when Ransom stepped through, wearing nothing but a tiny pair of boxer shorts that covered very little and suggested very heavily what they did cover. That and a shirt of Juno’s that Ben recognised immediately, oversized so the neck draped to leave one shoulder bare. A shoulder covered in dark, mouth shaped shadows.
Ben stopped dead, eyes snapping wide. Every time he’d seen Ransom before now, he’d been perfectly made up and poised to the point of near absurdity, in his sleek, expensive outfits and coiffed hair and sharp smile. He’d been practically scared of the guy, not least because of how Juno reacted to him and wouldn’t say why, no matter how many times Benten tried to steer the conversation that way to find out more.
Now he wished he knew less.
Ben opened his mouth but couldn’t get any sound out, he was too stunned at the realisation that Ransom was actually human and not a perfectly styled doll of some kind. So Ransom just yawned, exactly like a cat would right down to the way he smacked his tongue after, and blinked, eyes useless with sleep and without his glasses.
“I thought you were showering, dear heart,” he mumbled, his slick accent muddied and rougher than it ever seemed.
And then, before Ben could make any kind of protest, Ransom closed the distance between them and kissed him languidly, hand slipping around his waist to grab a handful of...something that erased any doubt Ben had been clinging to as to what this man was doing in his brother’s bedroom.
Instantly, Ben froze solid, eyes wide with the kind of panic only rabbits facing down the headlights of oncoming cars and people in this exact situation could experience. A heartbeat later, Ransom did the exact same, unfortunately leaving him in that position for a handful of agonsing, painful seconds. When he finally jumped back, he looked very, very awake. In fact, he looked like he might never sleep again.
“So…” Ben cleared his throat, grimacing, “You’re sleeping with my brother, huh?”
Ransom’s blush was fearsome, more than a master thief’s really should be, “I...my sincerest apologies, Benzaiten, I was only...um, your brother...I…of you have any concerns about his...um, his virtue-”
Ben could have screamed cutting across him quickly, “I really do not want to hear the slightest thing about my brother’s virtue. Just...give him this,” he thrust the coffee at Ransom, “And never speak of this again. To him but especially to me. Agreed?”
Ransom took a deep breath, taking the coffee and hiking the shirt up to his neck, like that would erase the hickeys from existence, “Agreed.”
Eventually Benzaiten would realise he was happy about this. He would recontextualise a hundred glances between him and Ransom, he would learn to read the emotion in Juno’s voice whenever he talked about him, what was masked in the intensity of it. He would realise that finally someone loved Juno exactly how he deserved to be loved.
But for now, he was going to lock his door, call his boyfriend and scream into a pillow and wish with all his heart that more people would learn to see the differences between him and Juno.

SnK Chapter 125 Poll Results
The chapter 125 poll closed with 1,469 responses. Thank you for your support! This month’s poll results were compiled by /u/alooulla,  /u/_Puppet_, @shifter-lines and @momtaku.
RATE THE CHAPTER 1,387 RESPONSES
Tumblr media
While still overwhelmingly positive, and slightly improved over Chapter 124, the “wow” factor still wasn’t there for many. Those selecting a perfect five was less than half of respondents (49.3%).
Transitions were unbelievably good, hardly noticed we were at 5 different scenes this chapter.
Not really hype like some chapters have been, but it was wonderful to see all the character and story development.
Created a number of different plot threads, but was not as satisfying as recent chapters
Everyone in this chapter (except Flock) deserves love
Good chapter, juggles lots of POVs excellently and opens up multiple opportunities for where the story may go. I love how desperate everything is.
Beats gonna drop soon
Jean honey if you push Floch out the hole in the wall everyone will swear it was an accident
WHICH OF THE FOLLOWING WAS YOUR FAVORITE MOMENT? 1,421 RESPONSES
Tumblr media
They only appeared on two pages, but “Levi and Hange are back” was the top pick out of a long list of options with nearly one-third (27.7%) selecting them. “Armin and Mikasa’s argument” secured second (14.3%) and “Annie and Hitch together” (12.6%) round out the top three.
LEVI AND HANGE ARE BACK! OMG!!!
I loved Annie's backstory, the conversation between Floch and Jean, the talk between AM, Shadis, mr Leonhart, literally everything.
I loved hearing Annie and Hitch talk, and the Levi and Hange situation finally got addressed :)
I'm so happy to see Levi and Hange, and so happy that they've run into Pieck and Magath. I hope they can reach some kind of truce and work together.
Floch is the Queen of Paradis confirmed.
Shadis once again made this chapter for me. What a great, deep speech. He is a true hero.♡
WHO WAS THIS CHAPTER'S MVP? 1,416 RESPONSES
Tumblr media
While denied the favorite moment, Annie was the favorite for chapter MVP with more than one-quarter of respondent (26.6%). Hitch, the other half of the girl power duo, made a strong showing (19.6%) for number two. Most shocking perhaps is that Hange (13.6%) squeaked out a narrow victory over Floch (12.6%) for third.
Annie is the best girl
Floch did nothing wrong
Hitch nipping at Historia's best girl-crown
HAAAAAAAAANGE
ANNIEEEEE A AAAAA AA A AA A A A A A A MY GIRL
Floch is such a crazy piece of shit, I love him, he's a great villain and I'm glad that Isayama added a character like that to the story. Also, funny with how he represents the rabid Eren stans, parroting the bs they keep saying ("we're free now reeeeeee").
S H A D I S  T H E  C H A D I S
Hange my queen how the hell did you save Levi, I wanna know!!
Hitch yeeting Annie made me scream, I love them together so much.
My babes Shadis and Magath are BACK!! 😍
So happy to see Hitch back. She is such a fun character and so underrated!
THE CHAPTER OPENS WITH RESIDENTS OF STOHESS REACTING BOTH POSITIVELY AND NEGATIVELY TO EREN’S ACTIONS. WHICH EXPRESSION OF THE CROWD ARE YOU MOST SYMPATHETIC TOWARDS? 1,416 RESPONSES
Tumblr media
The citizens of the walls are as divided as the fanbase over Eren’s actions.  36.7% are on the side that says the Eldians on the island would all be dead without Eren, while 34% respond with the fact that he’s responsible for many of their deaths himself.  25.1% don’t want to side with either faction.
“You can’t make an omelette without breaking a few eggs”
Both are right and wrong at the same time…
Both sides are ignorant as to what is actually happening so it is difficult to gauge who actually feels what they do considering their limited knowledge but I'm edging towards the justification of it.
Eren has planned this all along, he knows there will be no true peace by doing the rumbling and has some kind of third goal
Even if the first expression is true (and no one can say if it is or not for sure) it doesn't make the belligerents right, or mean that Eren shouldn't be held accountable for his actions
Both sides are justified. Both sides reacted according to their personal views in response to an outside force they had no control of.
I sympathize with both. One on hand, it seems as though the wall titans were the only effective retaliation the island had left, but on the other hand, Eren did kill many of his own people and aiming to wipe out the rest of the world is definitely pretty extreme for even Eren. That's why I think there's still a HUGE part of his plan that we haven't been made aware of yet.
There's no real right answer here. Obviously genocide is bad and no one can deny the fact that Eren killed his own people but, what other options were available in the limited time they had?
Whatever your thoughts on The Rumbling, Eren is being extremely reckless and it's going to backfire like crazy. Member when Erwin pulled off an almost-bloodless coup? I have a feeling Ereh is too preoccupied with thoughts of PATHS and FREEDOM to really consider the consequences of stuff like civilian casualties or letting a fascist cult take over the government.
What the tic tac patty wack snick snack quarterback big mac heart attack race track double back guy named jack did he just do?

ANNIE BACKSTORY! WHAT DID YOU THINK? 1,420 RESPONSES
Tumblr media
Annie’s finally back!  And she sure got a lot of page time, finally getting her chance to speak her story.  The majority thought seems to be that it was okay, at 60.3%, whereas 33.2% absolutely loved it, and 6.5% thought it was a waste of time.
Develops her character a bit but otherwise not too important
we got an entire Annie backstory and it answered NONE of my questions about the crystal. If its purpose was just to protect her like the Warhammer's crystal, and she was semi-conscious -- why couldn't she escape it on her own?  Is there something unique about the Female Titan? Was it a chrysalis? Has she undergone a metamorphosis?
I'm just glad Annie's back
I really liked it and especially the Annie focus although I expected more from her justifications.
Don't care for her this late in the story tbh it's just a waste of pages
this chapter confirmed that Annie is the best character of SNK !
It was pretty much exactly what I expected, fairly boring and didn’t change my perception of her character at all
This puts so much context on the murders she committed back in the female titan arc and her personality in general. This is so great! Waited forever for this
I especially liked learning Annie's entire backstory, and her interactions with Hitch in this chapter were great.
Lil' Orphan Annie deserves more spinoffs. We need one about her awkward preteen years trying to fit in with the popular girls while continuously kicking them in half by accident.
MY GIRL ANNIE DESERVES MORE.
AFTER CONSIDERING HER STORY, WHICH THOUGHT MOST CLOSELY MATCHES YOUR OWN? 1,410 RESPONSES
Tumblr media
There sure was a lot to consider in all Annie said, and the two primary thoughts seem to be a feeling of tragedy that she never felt that anything mattered, and a hope that she’ll see her father again, at 23.7% and 22.6% respectively.
Can't forget what she has caused, but glad she found meaning in life.
I hope she can find peace
I understand her reasoning, but her saying she'd do it all again hurt a lot.
Interesting plot point, but was it really necessary? Kinda felt like forced drama to add this "adoptive child" thing.
Is it wrong to wish for her happiness?
It may mirror Eren's motives. To her, nothing else matters except returning to her father, not even other people's lives. If Eren is intent on protecting his friends, then other lives wouldnt even matter.
It's interesting how seems similar she is to Reiner but how different they actually are. Annie is nihilistic and realistic because the lack of love, Reiner is idealistic and longing for love in a tragic way because he fantasize the love which doesn't exist
Annie has always been, in my opinion at least, one of the most honest characters, and I'm glad we can see that her core hasn't changed (but I’m so happy we can hear her talk and that we are finally getting some character development). Unlike Reiner and Bertolt, Annie never pretended to be friends with the Shinganshina trio, she never acted more nicely than she felt she should. She kept to herself and did what she knew she had to do. But this does not make Annie cold or resilient to atrocities; when she was manipulated by Reiner to take off Marco’s 3D maneuver gear, we can see she doesn’t do it easily and she does show remorse, in spite of everything. All of the SnK characters are tragic, some more than others, and for me, Annie is probably one of the most tragic ones. Adopted, trained to become a killing machine, completely alone with no one to really rely on once she joined the army, Annie goes towards her goal, stripping every bit of romanticism from the notions of peace, good vs bad governments, Marley, Eldia, humanity, etc. Annie does not fight, or pretend to fight, for the greater good; as perceptive as always, she sees the situation for what it is, just like she sees people for who they really are. I hope this brave young woman gets a happy ending with her dad.
DO YOU FIND IT REASONABLE THAT ANNIE HAS BEEN SEMI-CONSCIOUS IN THE CRYSTAL ALL THIS TIME 1,411 RESPONSES
Tumblr media
Hitch sure was surprised that Annie had actually been listening to her all that time, but the fandom wasn’t.  86.3% found it reasonable, but 10.7% still aren’t convinced it makes sense.
Considering we had Ms. Tyber being aware of her surroundings in her own crystal, looking back on that it's like "oh yeah that seems legit". Granted I'm sure Ms. Tyber had practiced the technic to use it in battle proficiently. But it doesn't seem too out there for Annie to be at least semi-conscious
Honestly no. But this story has people transforming into giant monsters so I can't really complain.
I find hard to believe she is not crazy. Being unable to move in darkness for 4 years with only voices to keep her company is pretty brutal.
I'm wondering how her body condition is near to normal.
It reminds me of ymir being a mindless titan for 60 years
Wall titans also seemed to be semi conscious if I remember the original scene with eye movement and fear of light energizing them.
P A T H S
ANNIE WAS COVERED WITH SOME SORT OF FLUID THAT DOESN’T SEEM TO BE EVAPORATING. WHAT DO YOU THINK IT IS? 1,408 RESPONSES
Tumblr media
We ended last chapter on Annie in a pool of this liquid, and this time we see Hitch follow it to where Annie is.  But… what is it?  66.2% think it has something to do with the crystal’s hardening, 15.2% DO NOT want that knowledge, and 11.6% think it’s a human bodily fluid.
A fluid to keep her alive (something like the lcl in evangelion)
Amniotic fluid is the warm, fluid cushion that protects and supports your baby as they grow in the womb.
a liquid that makes her body hibernate so she can stay alive
I think it's a weakened form of the hardening. Perhaps it was also this fluid around the creature in the well from Ymir's backstory.
If I recall correctly, some crystals do have water in the form of “hydrates” so in theory, the fluid in Annie’s crystal is what kept her alive by supplying nutrients and and water to her body. Because of this, the fluid may have possibly come from Annie’s Titan as it formed the crystal around her.
amniotic fluid - some unique property of the Female Titan
Tears of readers who waited too fucking long for Annie to break through
Armin juice
WHERE DO YOU THINK HITCH AND ANNIE ARE HEADING? 1,408 RESPONSES
Tumblr media
So many groups in so many places!  Where is this one going to end up?  A little over half, at 55.9% think they’ll run into another group before they get to a specific destination, about a quarter at 23.4% think Shiganshina, and 19.2% think the port.
Following the Colossal Titans
Honestly it was very reckless of hitch to let Annie go. If she causes more trouble for Paradis then what will she do
Based on them leaving Stohess in the same direction as the colossal titans it is likely they will pass through Trost. They will continue south towards Shiganshina and maybe the port but on the way they will likely run into Hange, Levi, Pieck and Magath, or Connie, Falco, Armin and Gabi.
Kiyomi's plane
Marley, to Annie’s father
To Historia
WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON THE STATE OF THE ELDIANS IN LIBERIO? 1,399 RESPONSES
Tumblr media
We jump across the ocean, only to find Mr. Leonhart starting a rebellion in Liberio!  About half feel there’s going to be an absolute bloodbath, 32% are glad they’re finally rising up, 11% are focused on Mr. Leonhart being a badass, and 6.1% are scratching their heads as to how this is relevant.
I feel it's setting up for eldians in all internment zones rising up, although i don't know what significance that would hold if they're gonna be flattened like pancakes anyway
I'm actually glad because while I have still and always despised the Warriors, Annie's dad felt relatable to me, good to see non-powered, regular citizens rise up against the enemy
Isayama stop trying to be clever with names is there a single part of this series you haven't put thought into?
It is rather unsettling to see since it all seems to head towards a massacre although the reactions of the Eldians are understandable and sound.
It makes sense why they'd rise up: they know what's coming, and they just want to get to safety. After all, they should be spared from the Rumbling because of their race. As expected of the Marleyans though, they won't listen to the Liberio Eldians' current plea, and it will surely cost them (the Marleyans).
The Marleyans are comically dumb it's not even funny; I mean why would they orchestrate a revolt now
This was Eren's plan all along, he wants Eldians everywhere to rebel under the threat of the wall titans.
Why should we care about what happens to anyone outside the Walls? This scene was totally unnecessary.
Worldwide Eldian Rebellion I am excited
I'm worried about them! :(
WILL MR. LEONHART SURVIVED THE SCUFFLE WITH THE GATE GUARD? 1,408 RESPONSES
Tumblr media
A somewhat interesting split here; though most responders think there’s more to come with Annie’s father and being killed by the gate guard wouldn’t be the right way for him to go, especially with unfinished business with his daughter. The next highest response was ‘I am not sure’ followed by ‘No he won’t survive’ with a still respectable 24.7% of the vote. One to keep an eye on, here.
Weird that she wants to return home so much just because her dad was nice to her for a few minutes (he's been torturing her all her life).
It had some very much needed character development for A LOT of characters. I can't wait to see how certain plot points like Connie's mom and Annie's wish to see her dad will be resolved.
I saw some parallels between Mr. Leonhard vs. the guards and volunteers vs. Floch. Anarchy reigns; power struggles everywhere, yay! I want to see Mr. Leonhart leading a rebellion. I want to see Eldians all over the globe rising up and busting out of internment zones. Also - we got an entire Annie backstory and it answered NONE of my questions about the crystal. If its purpose was just to protect her like the Warhammer's crystal, and she was semi-conscious -- why couldn't she escape it on her own?  Is there something unique about the Female Titan? Was it a chrysalis? Has she undergone a metamorphosis? Will it even matter if Ymir is freed from her sand slavery and refuses to transform any more titans? Still -- it's interesting that Annie was adopted, and I have to wonder if her lineage is important.  Final thought: I'm growing tired of Isayama sidelining people by having them unconscious/uncommunicative. I get why he may want to render some characters unable to affect the plot at certain points but 'unconscious' is his go-to and I'm losing patience with it. Okay, Historia got stuck with 'pregnant' but I lost patience with that ages ago. Wake up already, Reiner. Say something, Levi. At least Falco's awake again. And Annie, for the love of Eldia, please explain your crystal.
Speaking of Mr. Leonhart, he may be crippled and defeseless against the Marleyan guards, but at least he wasn't swayed by fatalism against his current government unlike Jean/Armin.
WHAT DID YOU THINK OF KEITH’S ADVICE TO THE TRAINING CORPS MEMBERS? 1,394 RESPONSES
Tumblr media
Instructor Shadis is still instructing, and 46.1% of you are still chanting SHADIS THE CHADIS.  23.5% loved his advice, 16.5% enjoyed the callback to being a bystander, and 12.1% wish he’d encouraged them to rise up.
Foreshadowing that they‘ll overthrow Eren and Floche.
He gives up too easily. I don't like this.
I'm glad he told them not to fight the Yeagerists but for the wrong reasons
Shadis doesn't want them to risk their lives, understandable, but giving Floch&Co time to gain even more power is not a good idea.
He's being smart and cautious because they've had enough losses for now
By far the best piece of advice he could have given them. Not is it only the most reasonable thing to do in the current situation, but it also goes to show how much Shadis values life and how well, thanks to his experience, he can see what the future might bring. When he thought fighting was a viable option, he wanted the trainees and soldiers alike to dedicate their hearts (and he dedicated his own as well), but now when he sees that they’re clearly getting overpowered and that any form of resistance would inevitably lead to death, he advises them to stay put, but not lose sight of themselves. That’s what a good leader/ elder/ parent does. Despite the fact that he failed as commander and that he was usually the only one to come back from his missions outside the walls, he shows that he has learned a lot and can strategize and draw the right moves. And it even reminded me of Levi, this desire to not waste lives. And Shadis is special, I just wish he’d realize that along with many others. Unfortunately, a very underrated character.
I am hyped to see these characters actually amount to something because of chadis!
A giant death flag.
WAS ARMIN IN THE RIGHT TO RAISE HIS VOICE AT MIKASA? 1,402 RESPONSES
Tumblr media
Armin has returned to being shell-shocked like he was in Shiganshina, and he took it out on Mikasa, but was he justified?  Just over half don’t think he was justified, but don’t blame him for snapping.  23.9% believe it was the right choice to try to make her more independent.  The last two options are tied at 10.3%, saying he was completely in the wrong, and the other saying he was justified in that Mikasa needs to focus on more than Eren.
Armin has been the one others rely for guidance, however at this point he seems stressed and probably over thinking (when he refers back to Erwin).
Armin just reached his breaking point. So much has happened in one day, and he needed to rant.
Asking ANYONE to stop thinking about Eren right now is pointless, let alone Mikasa. He was wrong, but stressed out.
Both. She needs to be encouraged to make her own decisions, but he didn't need to be mean about it. She has always been nice to him.
Feel like many are misunderstanding mikasa's comment about eren. He is the biggest concern so why shouldn't she mention him? Personally I don't think she was still in eren obsessed mode.
That's a complex question. Everyone is stressed right now, especially Armin, feeling guilty for being brought back and feels so much weight on his shoulder to be a leader so to say. So it reasonable for him to yell and it might spark something in Mikasa as well.
Armin needs a nap, a warm bath, and a foot rub.
WILL MIKASA START ‘THINKING FOR HERSELF’ NOW, AS ARMIN SUGGESTED? 1,395 RESPONSES
Tumblr media
Mikasa’s character development is being pushed to its tipping point now, will Armin’s words make her start thinking for herself?  The majority, at 56.3% think that leadership isn’t her style, but she’ll step up and support what she feels is right.  18.6% feel that she’s already made the step into thinking for herself, and the last two options are split at 11.3% between a full ‘yes she’ll finally step up’, and a full ‘she’s always thought for herself.’
Armin: think for yourself! Mikasa: Where is my scarf?
Hopefully, I want to see more independence. Assertive and confident in her actions.
I don't know if she'll able to think for herself. maybe she will do something, but I guess whatever she will do on her own, I don't want to expect much from her. Anyway I have the feeling that Mikasa's own decision could be that she accepts Kiyomi's offer and leaves Paradis because the whole situation is obviously killing her.
I hope Isayama has something special planned for Mikasa's development
Mikasa has always thought for herself. She’s never been a leader, but she’s always followed her own hearts desires. Nobody knows what to do and for once it was actually reasonable for her to ask about eren, given what he’s about to do to the world.
Mikasa isn't wrong to look to Armin for leadership, but when she brings up the elephant in the room, he flies off the handle at her. But ultimately, I think that Armin is right. She'll have to make decisions based off her own judgement and I'm excited for it.
I kinda doubt that. She went to Jean, because Armin told her so and I don't think that she would do anything in the situation between Jean, Floch and the Volunteers. If she would be able someday to make her own decision, I'll think that could be to do with Kiyomi's offer to go on one of her ships, but we will see.
I think she will be an impromptu leader, similarly to what she did at Trost after eren got eaten by the santa titan
Mikasa did nothing wrong, she tried to take advice instead to run somewhere else like Connie or give up like Jean.
Yes she’ll become more independent. I think itll lead to “see u later eren”
AT THIS POINT, ARMIN STILL THINKS ERWIN WAS A BETTER CHOICE TO REVIVE. DO YOU? 1,391 RESPONSES
Tumblr media
The question of whether Armin or Erwin should have been revived in Shiganshina proves to be one of the most contentious issues in the series, nearly on par with when we asked you guys what you think of Eren’s (stated) plan. 52.2% of you are Team Erwin, and 47.8% are Team Armin. Regrettably, I can’t make a good joke out of either of those numbers.
I've said it before, but I think Armin was the best person to revive from a story telling point of view. Erwin was the better leader, no doubts there, but it is the lack of him that has pushed all these other characters to develop more. I believe the relationships between characters and the characters themselves would've remained more static if he had still been there. So therefore, Armin was the right choice
Erwin wouldn't have let any of this happen
WHO TOOK THE SCARF? 1,403 RESPONSES
Tumblr media
There could only ever be one winner of this question; given the girls fandom of Eren in general and Mikasa in particular, 72.5% of you picked Louise as the scarf thief, particularly since she knew it was there and gave it a look after Mikasa left. The next highest answer was Eren having sent someone to retrieve it, at 13.8%, followed by ‘someone else at 9.1%, with Floch and Jean respectively taking up other minor answers. I look forward to the questions in the future of why the scarf was taken, and how will it affect the story?
Oh, and Louise definitely has the scarf. I think there will be a confrontation over it and Mikasa will Realise Things, so that's cool.
Louise totally stole that scarf.
WHICH NAME IS BETTER? 1,395 RESPONSES
Tumblr media
808 of 1,395 of you came out to represent Gabi Gang, while the remaining 587 of you like Mia better. Mia Myriad? Eh. Mia Myriad’s weird. I like Gabi Gang better.
WHAT'S UP WITH JEAN WHEN FLOCH IS TALKING TO HIM? 1,399 RESPONSES
Tumblr media
Floch tells Jean he can finally have the life he always wanted, what was Jean feeling at that moment?  40.5% think he was just totally shell-shocked, 30.4% think he;s faking weakness for a plan, 16.4% think he had an epiphany about Eren based on what Floch said, and 10.7% believe him to be considering what Floch has to say.
Definitely debating whether or not to kick his head in-- once he's decided I think he'll pounce
he has been asking over and over for how long they would have to keep fighting. So Floch telling him is over has a great effect on him. Although he will chose to keep fighting.
He is bothered that the Yeagerists consider him a “hero”
He is in disbelief over how AWFUL Floch is and once his brain processes it he will snap and punch the bastard in the face
He's both in shell shock and trying to fake weakness.
I think he's coming up with some sort of plan to finally rid the world of Floch.
Jean looks so tired in these panels, as in physically tired and mentally. He probably wants this all to be over, and Floch is giving him a way out. But Jean has come too far to give up, I think, so I hope he turns his brain back on.
ARE THE ROCKS THAT GO MISSING WHEN FLOCH TURNS HIS HEAD AN ARTISTIC OVERSIGHT OR DOES IT HAVE FUTURE SIGNIFICANCE? 1,406 RESPONSES
Tumblr media
THE ROCKS ARE GONE.  About half of the fandom, at 46.2% are pretty sure Jean pocketed them to use as a weapon.  29.7% did not notice the disappearance, and 24.2% think it’s just Isayama overlooking an inconsistency.
Bitch boutta throw some rocks
I hope Jean can something do too otherwise the Volunteers would get forced to fight for Eren and to help him destroying their own motherlands (oof) or get killed. I hope the theory about the pocket rocks get relevant and true in the next chapters
Floch be a bitch with a nest boutta get moulded by rocks
Getting ready to bash floch
there was a gun next to him and then it was gone. The boy boutta blooooow
FLOCH CLAIMS THAT EREN TOLD HIM THE ENTIRE PLAN. IS HE TELLING THE TRUTH? 1,399 RESPONSES
Tumblr media
Eren doesn’t seem to have confided his plan in anyone, but Floch says otherwise.  60% confess Eren likely told him a fair bit, but not everything, 32.9% think Floch’s just BSing his way through things to look better, and 5.6% truly believe Eren told Floch everything.
Eren is the only one who knows his true plan, anyone that claims to know what Eren is doing was just a pawn that Eren used.
Eren probably forgot who Floch even is
Considering how Eren is acting now, I fear he did tell him everything after seeing his extremism.
Floch believes Eren told him everything, but he probably didn't.
floch is an arrogant bitch who thinks eren and him are best buds
I mean, the plan so far seems to be 'let's retrieve Zeke, overthrow the government and unleash the Rumbling', so why won't he tell Floch all of it? He seems to be fully on board. If there is more to the plan, then Floch doesn't know it.
I'm still not sure how much of Eren's betrayal of Zeke he was in on, but I'm damn sure Eren didn't task him with any 'removing internal resentment' job.
Jean knows he has more of Eren's trust than Floch does. From this, Jean figured out either Floch is lying for his own gains, or is being used by Eren.
Floch is just a dumbass and Eren is using him to get the necessary pieces into place without him doing it all himself
Something tells me Floch actually just overheard Yelena talking with Eren about Zeke's plan during the railway opening ceremony. I could've sworn that in the chapter Floch mentioned that he "heard" Eren's plan, and the way he uses that word gives me the impression he only listened to parts of what Yelena told Eren without knowing what Eren's ulterior motive was when learning Zeke's plan.
That’s certainly what he *thinks*
Eren is manipulating Floch's ass six ways to sunday and I'm here for it
WHO DO YOU THINK WILL BE THE ONE TO TAKE DOWN FLOCH? 1,398 RESPONSES
Tumblr media
From previous polls, Floch seems like a popular choice to die next, but who would do it?  Nearly ¾ of that fandom believe Jean will end him, though 6.5% don’t believe Floch’s dying anytime soon.  Eren, Mikasa, Shadis, and Yelena were other popular options.
Could be anyone at this point, really. Would be cool if it was just some random volunteer and the death would be meaningless.
Better not be anyone, Floch is making way more sense than Armin
Armin
I hope no one does, he's the most entertaining character at the moment
I really hope all of the above and I hope it'll be a gruesome death.
King Floch is the father and will outlive the rest of the 104th.
Let him be squashed under a Titan foot, pls
Me
Nobody, Floch will be the only survivor of the rumbling
HISTORIA! QUEEN!!!! How is the rightful ruler of Eldia not a choice here?!
I hope he doesn't die at least next chapter, because him dying is too predictable. But if he does it should be Jean.
I HOPE IT'S EITHER LEVI OR HANGE. But I think it's probably going to be Jean.
I think floch is going to have an utterlessly meaningless death. Just to show the irony that surviving that day didn't change shit.
I think since he survived on pure luck and destiny up until now, I could imagine his death will be more by accident or by unfortunate circumstance then someone else succeeding to kill him
SHADIS THE CHADIS no but actually probably Yelena or Mikasa.
The 109th Recruits
Onyankopon, Jean and Mikasa, I hope.
Who knows. Hope he dies.
ZEKE JAEGER
Isayama
It'll be a team effort
CONNIE AND FALCO ARE EN ROUTE TO RAGAKO. WHAT DO YOU THINK THE OUTCOME WILL BE? 1,398 RESPONSES
Tumblr media
Bets for the Return to Ragako arc are placed, and the majority (~43%) of you think that the overwhelming scent of cinnamon wafting from Falco will entice Connie to spare him. Not far behind, with 30.5% of the votes, is the prediction that Armin and Gabi will swoop in and save the day. The next most popular option was Falco feeling the sudden urge to die for Reiner, causing him to transform and escape. Following that was Falco realizing his predicament without getting his memories back, and after that, a very small amount of you guys (18), think Falco’s gonna get chomped.
Connie finna die
I can't think of how bringing back Connies mom will save Reiners life, so it won't happen.
Is it weird that I think Connie's mom has already turned back to human?
WHICH UNLIKELY TEAM-UP IS THE MOST EXCITING? 1,391 RESPONSES
Tumblr media
An overwhelming majority of you guys are most excited to see the Magath/Pieck/Hange/Levi squad team up, while the distant runner-up is Hitch/Annie, followed by Armin/Gabi, and then Connie/Falco. I can’t imagine why Connie/Falco got the least votes here.
WHICH TEAM, IF ANY, DO YOU THINK WILL MEET WITH HISTORIA? 1,384 RESPONSES
Tumblr media
With a 31.6% majority, the… quad...duo… quaduo? That’s definitely not a word but it should be, technical definition pending. What I’m trying to say is that Team Magath/Pieck/Hange/Levi got the most votes for “Who’s going to meet up with Historia?” Following that was… uh, nobody. As in the next most common answer is “nobody”. You guys are not making this write-up easy for me. After that was Team Hitch/Annie, followed by Armin/Gabi, and then Connie/Falco. The graph is proportional enough that you can see all the percentages, so that’s cool.
Historia is the key to ending this story and getting all the context we need. Which means we probably won’t see her again for awhile.
SLEEPING THROUGH THE APOCALYPSE. WHO DID IT BETTER? 1,399 RESPONSES
Tumblr media
We didn’t ask for a reason behind this selection, but Reiner’s rather ill-timed cozy cottage snooze (58.5%) trounced Levi’s “return of the mummy” slumber (41.5%). Maybe it was the appeal of the fruit and snacks?
DO YOU THINK LEVI WILL BE ABLE TO PARTICIPATE IN THE UPCOMING BATTLE? 1,400 RESPONSES
Tumblr media
Nearly 60% of you think Levi will recover enough to encourage the others to fight, 20% think he’ll recover enough to fight, and 15.3% think he’ll be unconscious for awhile. The white space on the graph is what happens when there are too many single-voter responses, but we can read them behind the scenes, and one of them suggested that we’re about to learn how titan serum affects Ackermans, and I just want to say that I appreciate your devotion to Titan Science™, anon.
TITAN LEVI INC
Crack theory: he‘ll eat Zeke after Zeke offers himself up because he lost his will to live. So yes, he‘ll be fully healed and badass again.
He is going to become a shifter by eating Zeke with the cooperation of Pieck/Magath, fulfilling his promise to Erwin.
He won't be recovering but he'll fight all the same, with his teeth if necessary
He'll recover enough to make one last heroic action before dying
I don't really know. I hope he can still fight. I think Isayama-sensei didn't let Levi live to be a useless soldier.
i don’t want him to participate. i just want him alive
I think that Levi will not be able to fight, but he'll be awake, and I'd like to him take on a mentorship role. I would love to see him make a full recovery by the time the manga concludes.
Some unforeseen magic will happen
HAS THIS CHAPTER AFFECTED YOUR FEELINGS ABOUT THE RUMBLING? 1,385 RESPONSES
Tumblr media
The destruction on the ground, Floch’s reign of terror, and the 104th’s horror at what’s unfolding seems to have shaken some in the fandom with one quarter of respondents indicating that their support has lessened somewhat (20.6%) or significantly (5.7%). The remaining 75% are staying the course with close to 40% completely opposed to the rumbling and 35% in full support of it.
HAS THIS CHAPTER AFFECTED YOUR FEELINGS ABOUT EREN? 1,387 RESPONSES
Tumblr media
The responses here are about what we might expect; a fairly even split between those who support Eren fully (or at least think he’s got some mysterious ace up his sleeve) and those that do not support him/are losing faith in him. Interestingly, the smallest response was from those who have lost a significant amount of faith in Eren, indicating the battle lines are still drawn at this point.
Eren did nothing wrong
Eren Yeager is GOD! Bow Down!
We're left in the dark of what Eren is really planning and so I can't judge this consequence too much. It is very extreme and I'm skeptical of it all.
Another aspect of the continual violence and really justifies Eren's position.
The inner fighting among themselves is going to get worse and they all will turn on Eren.
They should support eren, and the yeagerists, not plan to overthrow them
I DONT GET WHAT IS EREN TRYING TO DO? How is he gonna claim he wants to protect his people then end up killing him ??
I hope that among his friends there are on the eren side, eren's decision was correct, although it was too cruel, but it was all for the people he loved. why his friends no one sided eren , I'm sad to think about it.
I love eren but :(
AT THIS POINT, AROUND WHICH CHAPTER DO YOU EXPECT THE MANGA WILL CONCLUDE? 1,406 RESPONSES
Tumblr media
As much as I hate to think about the end of the manga, and the subsequent never-ending feud over the serum bowl and the Rumbling, we’re bound to become the next NGE at some point. It can’t be stopped. The majority, at 45.7%, think we have until around Chapter 134, which gives us about nine more months. Following that, 30.2%, think we have until Chapter 138, which gives us more than a year. A lesser but still significant quantity of votes say we have until Chapter 142+, and I feel a little bit like the Vince McMahon meme typing this. You know the one. Lastly, 8.7% of you think there are only 5 chapters left. Why anyone would even entertain such an idea is beyond me.
WHAT ARE YOU MOST HOPING TO SEE NEXT CHAPTER? 1,409 RESPONSES
Tumblr media
Wow! A huge split of opinion here regarding hopes for next chapter, as might be expected; but out in front with 27.8% of the vote is a wish to see more Hange, Levi, Pieck and Magath; no doubt because we haven’t seen them for a while. Coming up in second place is Jean and Mikasa, with a number of fans hoping they will fight back against Floch. And of course, third place is the everpresent wish to see Historia once more. What on Earth is she up to???
Historia hopefully
A solid chapter with a lot of great character development. Who wants to bet that Connie and Falco are going to run into Historia at Ragako?
Give me Historia
Jean has an epiphany about himself and Eren's actions (since Floch is Eren's fanboy, like Jean was to a certain degree))
Jean and Floch will fight!
If Floch doesn't make Jean react, I don't know who else will. Their relationship has always been complex, so it would be beautiful to see Jean killing him. But as long as it's not a Jaeger, I'll be fine.
I can’t help but feel that there was something odd about the way Hange spoke about Levi to Magath and Pieck. “Rest assured, he’s just a harmless man who failed to die”. Harmless? Levi? Really? And Hange doesn’t speak like that, so to me this looks like strategizing and covering something up. I don’t think Levi is 100% okay, far from, but I don’t think he’s on the verge of death. And even if Levi will physically be unable to fight, he still isn’t harmless. He wasn’t dubbed Humanity’s Strongest only for his physical strength; Levi is smart, he’s an excellent leader, he’s compassionate and experienced. So, even if we don’t see him engage in fights as a soldier, I believe we will get to see him devise plans and strategies, negotiate, etc. After all, we still don’t know what the Ackermans are capable of. We know they have superhuman strength, so I believe we’re all in for a surprise (or not so much of a surprise) when it comes to Levi. He’s played an enormous part in the story already, but his story isn’t over. Best boi love him yes.
I hope he can still fight. I think Isayama-sensei didn't let Levi live to be a useless soldier.
All aboard the ship! Ms. HanjiXMagath is setting sail! (???)
HISTORIA BACKSTORY, OR I WILL END THIS WORLD
WHERE DO YOU PRIMARILY DISCUSS THE SERIES? 1,328 RESPONSES
Tumblr media
Reddit continues to dominate the responses to this question, and this month there were literally more people who don’t discuss the series than people who discuss it on Tumblr. A direct consequence of banning Titan-presenting nipples, surely. Lastly, something ominous is going on in the Snapchat cult, because there were only two of you this month, down from five last month. That’s still enough to reproduce though and it makes me uneasy. Regardless of where or whether you discuss the series though, we appreciate all of you guys’ participation in the poll. We literally couldn’t do it without you!
  ADDITIONAL THOUGHTS ON THE CHAPTER?
hE dID nOtHing wrOnG
I mean it's not like Eren could be like "wait while you're breaking out of the wall, can ya be clean about it?" but also....yeahhhhh umm I'm not positive that Eren cares for the majority of Paradisians
Petra's death still burns... Yet I can't really hate Annie.
[Annie’s] story kinda looks like a copypasta of Zeke's but I'm glad it's established she doesn't care for her grand goal and would sacrifice everything to achieve hers if it needs to be brought again
I feel for the wall Titans, they've been conscious for the last century, just chilling there.
Isayama couldn't have made the parallel between Annie and Eren any more blatant if he tried.
I don't know why people are so surprised with Eren being in cahoots with Floch. He is already killing billions to secure peace for Paradis, installing an authoritarian government for the same reason is not unlike him. He already said, he is going to take the freedom from people if they threaten his even innocents.
0/10 no Reiner. jk, the chapter may not have "action" per se, but i love the focus on how the rumbling affects all the characters, including the eldians in the camps. also, all the pairings are really interesting. i hope the HLMP combo leads to good things for the future. i wonder if Armin & Gabi'll talk, and whether she'll learn that he is the Colossus titan, or if she'll catch onto Reiner's great familiarity with these people…
another average chapter in SNK standards (awesome in manga standards)
Another set-up chapter - would be good to see some major events occur to keep the momentum going. Also want Eren/Zeke POVs
After 10 months of wondering where Levi was and if he was alive, i fully sympathise with Annie stans, who had to wait the better part of a decade. But I'm glad to know Levi's alive for now.
Seeing almost everyone other than the Jeager brothers was so damn fresh. Now everyone's gotta work together to stop the total downer ending.
Felt like this a needed chapter to see where all the characters’ directions are headed. Whether we see more compromise or more tension between characters. It creates more anticipation and excitement for what’s to become of Eren and his plan.
Isayama been sleepin on some important characters 💤
Very interesting seeing so many different perspectives, if only we could get Historia some day
Great chapter. But if hange teams up with Pieck and Magath I am going to be very disappointed. They have no reason to rely on the the people who have been trying to exterminate them for years. I get they need to stop eren but they cant let forget the atrocities Marley has done to them. Regroup with the rest and figure out another goddman way.
A very interesting chapter. I fully expect an emotional outburst from Mikasa any time now. Maybe directed at Eren himself.
aaahh I just want Zeke
Give me Eren
Give me Historia
How the hell will Isayama cover all these separated smol groups in only 12 chapters??? Can he rly end the manga this year cos I have doubts!
All pieces are on the move, time to wrap things up, Isayama-sensei! Though I don't see any way to stop Eren, unless they maybe use Historia and her royal blood? Can't wait to see how Isayama will solve all of this.
I love the setting of the rumbling as a slow moving mass of dust and meat that we’re all powerless to stop. I love how we’ve seen it from the perspective of people on the receiving end of the destruction, from people that support it and most of all, people who would never support it but are still benefiting from it. Regardless, none of them could stop even if they wanted too. It makes the issue seem so much more real.
Annie is pretty much like Eren right now, knowingly doing terrible things for the people they care about, both have accepted the cruelty of the world and acted accordingly and is not like the world has given them reasons to think otherwise. But this mentality has only brought pain and suffering around them and to themselves, I hope in the end she changes her outlook in life and finally goes against the "current"  of the way things are as she described and do the right thing.
Annie needs to get Armins head out of his ass. Floch was executing people next to his friends and he just runs off wtf
I DONT GET WHAT IS EREN TRYING TO DO? How is he gonna claim he wants to protect his people then end up killing him ??
Armin did nothing wrong. I've seen people complaining about he "yelling with waifu" and even comparing with Eren, even tho what Eren did was totally intentional, while Armin wasn't he didn't mean to hurt her, he snapped under stress, but when he saw he hurt her he regretted so much that even brought Erwin to the picture. But apparently his feeling and emotions are nothing compared with Mikasa's...
Armin made the right choice to go after Falco. His strategy is to ally with the Warriors and Marley. His tactic is to use Falco as barter. It is the best move he can make with the situation as it is. If he succeeds he gains Connie back in the fold, Falco, Gabi, Reiner, Pieck, and Magath. This type of quality help will raise morale and lessen the pressure that everyone feels. Hopefully they work as a team and communicate with each other. Don’t be like Eren who has no fog of war because he knows how it ends and, yet, doesn’t tell anybody about it.
As long as the rest of the world is unwilling to negotiate peacefully I’m not sure what other options were on the table. Obviously eren’s actions are irredeemable, but I feel that he’ll have the same sentiment Annie expressed: if this is the only way his friends make it out alive then he’d choose this path every time. I don’t think all of the blame is on eren(though he is still responsible for his own actions). Every side played a role in this and it should have never come to this to begin with.
I really appreciated the scenes with Armin, Mikasa, and Jean. The rumbling is a world-changing/ reality altering event and Armin said as much, but I'm really hoping these three can manage to salvage some peace for themselves despite the chaos.I think Eren has already accepted his own mortality re: the Curse of Ymir and has fully resigned himself to doing whatever he deems necessary for Paradis, I'm interested to see his end. I also enjoyed seeing Levi and Hange, I never doubted their survival; it also might be a further indication that Floch is BS'ing his way with his power grab when he said that they were killed...This series is excellent.
Wake up already, Reiner. Say something, Levi. At least Falco's awake again. And Annie, for the love of Eldia, please explain your crystal.
Can't wait to see Jean snap at Floch
It was great but isayama please let us see eren...
I just really hope Connie doesn't die but I'm not feeling too optimistic... I can't believe Annie's back and I'm really looking forward to whatever her and Hitch do next.
The reaction to the Armin and Mikasa scene initially drove me up the wall, because people's readings of Mikasa are just so fucking bad--she's literally right??? LMAO. Mikasa and the 104th have always followed Armin's guidance, so she isn't even wrong when she asks how to make herself useful. But the reaction to her question about Eren is just...
Levi surviving the thunderspear was bullshit. Hopefully he stays permanently injured and not overpowered again. Isayama give us Historia please. I hope we get to see my baby Reiner wake up next chapter. I wish that Reiner and Annie meet again please
I got emotional when Falco was starting to "remember" Connie. While Sasha's scenes after her death could have been written better, every time I see a Ymir reference, something interesting happens. We need to remember best girl, and finally we get to see that Connie was an important comrade of hers.
I hope Connie makes the right choices, my boy has suffered enough!
It somehow gave positive vibes despite the apocalyptic setting, and I was extremely happy we got to see almost everyone again.
I want to see more about what happened to Ymir Fritz after she gained her freedom.
I'm glad Levi is ok but i gotta know: how is he able to breathe when HIS ENTIRE FACE HAS BEEN BANDAGED UP
It's the end of the world as we know it, and I feel fiiiiiiiiiine
Lame ass chapter, everything feels pointless and forced and the ambiguity and moral grayness of the story is gone.
Levi has to give meaning to those deaths. It's what will give peace to his heart. He deserves to fight one last time.
mikasa let me hug you and protect you
Can we agree Keith is badass? He advised trainees to not lose themselves despite the government. It's such a stark contrast with Floch in this chapter. He was so traumatized by his first mission as a SC, losing his comrades, watching them die meaningless deaths and seeing the SC fighting over who should be lived other than the commander. As he shot that voluteer he made it clear he casted his values aside for survival. In the end he learned they were just as meaningless as Marlowe's death.
More Yelena pls
This chapter was a lot of scenes I had been waiting for put together. We had Annie and Hitch interaction, an update on Connie and Falco, Gabi and Armin now heading their way, and Levi and Hange are finally back. Now all we need is Historia. The wait for her stopped being funny a LONG time ago...Actually scratch that, it wasn't funny to begin with. 😒
Levi is alive bitches
Really glad it's not all wrapping up with Eren activating the rumbling. Seeing how everyone is handling the chaos has been incredible. I was telling my friends that I honestly don't think the final battle will be against Eren. It's just everyone versus the pure chaos of the situation. I don't see Eren getting beat
The EMA trio was never my favorite, but it still kinda hurt to see them all split up.
The Erwin references were amazing!! Both in the manga and the end text!!
With all these relatively slow-paced, character-driven chapters recently, it seems as if the ending will be very rushed. I have faith in Isayama’s writing skills, but I just hope he will be able to pull off an ending that will do justice to all these wonderful characters he has built up, while rounding out the plot in a satisfying way. This story, in my opinion, is a masterpiece so far - and an ending could either make or break it at this point. Either way, I look forward to seeing the coming chapters very much.

Jeongguk fiddles with the controller after the match ends, sniffing as he tugs on his sleeve, peering over at y/n, a light blush already appearing on his face at the realization he was so close to her. He sputters, looking away quickly, pulling the controller closer to him and resting his hands on his lap, fiddling with the joystick as he clears his throat.
“So…” Her gaze darts over to him and she raises her eyebrows in question, setting her controller down and turning to face him. Jeongguk inhales sharply, closing his eyes and letting out a shaky breath. “So, y/n,” he turns to her, his hands clenching and unclenching as he closes his eyes, taking one, deep, calming breath. “Y/n, I have something I wanted to…uh…talk to you about?” She nods, a grin spreading across her face.
“Is it a secret, Kookie?” Her grin widens when he blushes and she moves forward, so close to him that he can feel the warmth of her body radiating out to him. His eyes widen as he falls back against the couch, her eyes lasered focused on his own. “I think I know what it is,” he gulps, his gaze darting away to look at the controller in his lap.
“You do?” His voice is timid and small, his heart pounding wildly in his chest.
There’s a long stretch of silence, the only sound in the room being Jeongguk’s shaky breathing.
“Yeah.” She leans back a bit- which Jeongguk sighs at, the muscles in his shoulders relaxing a bit as he sits back up, scooting back to put more distance between them.
“What is it, then?” The small on her face disappears, and she rolls back onto the heels of her feet, scoffing slightly.
“You like someone.” Jeongguk’s face bursts into flames and his jaw drops.
“What?”
“You,” she points at him, scooting to sit next to him, “like someone. And frankly, as your…” Her voice trails off and she looks away, muttering the next part quickly, “your best friend, I think you should…you know…tell me who it is.” Her shoulder brushes against his- and his whole body goes rigid.
“Y/n, I…” She smiles, looking over at him and raising her eyebrows.
“Well?”
“I do…like someone, y/n. I just…” His eyes sparkle slightly, and he turns to her. “She’s really sweet, and funny. She’s so easy to talk to…I just, when I’m around her I feel like I can be myself, you know? I don’t have to worry about her judging me, I know she gets me…I know she…” His voice trails off, and he looks away, sighing. “I know she doesn’t feel the same way- I think…she doesn’t. I don’t know, shit- y/n, she’s just perfect. I wouldn’t want anyone else.” Y/n smiles slightly, biting her lip.
“Who is it, Kookie?”
“I can’t tell you,” he mumbles, his blush spreading down the nape of his neck as he looks away. “You…I can’t, okay?” Y/n looks away, fiddling with the hem of her shirt.
“Do I know her?”
“…kind of?” Y/n’s heart sinks at this and she bites her lip to keep from crying, looking down at the ground.
“I get how you feel,” she mutters. Jeongguk’s eyes widen.
“Y-you like someone?” Y/n’s heart stops in her chest, and she laughs, looking away.
“I mean- yeah, I do. He’s…really cool. And attractive, and nice and…smart.” She looks away, huffing slightly. “And he’d never like me.” Jeongguk clenches his jaw, cursing himself as his grip on the controller tightens.
“Why not?”
“Because, guys like him don’t like girls like me.” She murmurs. “Not in that way, at least.”
Even though her answer isn’t about him, it still burns into his heart, melting any hope he’d had. He smiles wryly, pushing the controller off his lap. “I should be going,” his voice is flat and y/n frowns, standing up.
“Why?”
“I just…I need to go, y/n.” He doesn’t want to tell her the reason; if he doesn’t leave now, she’ll see him cry.
“Oh…I mean, I’ll see you at school tomorrow, right?”
Jeongguk doesn’t answer her as he turns out the door, too busy running the same sentence through his mind over and over to hear her soft sniffle; girls like her wouldn’t like a guy like me.
Y/n holds the plastic cup filled with beer close to her body, her eyes scanning the crowd as she sips from it, grimacing at the lukewarm liquid.
“Oh my god, y/n, are you just planning on moping around the whole time?” Her gaze falls on her friend, sighing as she slouches against the wall, peering over the rim of her cup at the mob of people either making out, or looking for someone to make out with.
“What do you want me to do, Tae?” She crosses her arms, sending a slightly cold glare his way. “This isn’t really my scene, you know that.” Taehyung’s eyes roll.
“Is it because you’re too nervous to talk to anyone?” Y/n bites her lip, looking away.
“I’m just not interested in anyone.” Taehyung sighs, leaning next to her and shoving his hands in his pockets.
“I’m sure you’ll find someone, y/n. But you won’t do it just standing here.”
It’s almost comical how at that exact moment, y/n scans the crowd in boredom, only for her gaze to lock with someone else’s across the room. He has dark, slightly curly brown hair that hangs over his eyes, his lips parting- a red cup halfway to meeting them, about to take a drink. Y/n’s breath freezes in her chest and she gapes at him.
“What’s wrong? Y/n, what’s going on?” Y/n’s gaze snaps away from the man and she shoves her drink at Taehyung.
“I’ll be right back.” She moves forward, unsure why she was drawn to him as much as she was, but before she knows it, she’s standing behind him, taking a deep breath and sliding up next to him. “Hey,” she says, cursing herself for not planning something beforehand. She barely notices his gaze flicker over to her, missing the way his whole body stiffens as his grip tightens on his cup. “I…I couldn’t help but notice you across the room, and you look really familiar, have we ever met before?” Y/n curses herself again, promising that she’ll learn better pick-up lines later. She bites her lip when he doesn’t even look over at her, her shoulder’s slumping slightly. “I’m guessing no, huh?” A giggle falls past her lips and she leans against the wall he was practically hugging. “Well…what’s your name, then?” He perks up, turning slightly, eyes focusing just over her shoulder before a large smile spreads across his face. He slides past her, not acknowledging the way she gapes at him as he reacts as if she doesn’t even exist, moving over to someone with dyed-blonde hair.
The man smiles when he sees him, and she faintly hears the one she’d approached mutter, “hey, Jimin, it’s been too long.” Y/n huffs, crossing her arms and absent-mindedly watching him, a small pout on her face. When the blonde looks at her, a kind smile takes over his expression- quickly glancing at the brown haired man, who seems to be in the middle of saying something, when his friend starts to head over to y/n. She straightens up, her expression turning into a worried one when he stands in front of her.
“Hey,” y/n watches him carefully, wishing she’d kept her drink with her as she fiddles with the hem of her shirt.
“Hey,” her voice is quiet- almost so quiet she isn’t sure he hears her, but a soft laugh falls past his plush lips.
“I’m Jimin. What’s your name?”
“Y/n,” she answers, sighing at his friendly tone. Jimin’s eyes light up and he grins.
“Y/n…l/n?” Her eyes pop open and she takes a step back.
“How did you…”
Jimin’s grin widens and he shrugs her shock off. “A little birdie told me.” Y/n’s gaze snaps over to Taehyung- who happens to happily be making his way over to her at the moment. “So, are you having fun y/n? Can I get you anything to drink?” Y/n smiles at Jimin’s kind expression.
“That’d be nice, yeah. I think Tae drank the rest of mine…” She nods over at him as he arrives- no cup in hand and his face slightly rosier than it was before.
“Y/n! You met Jimin,” Taehyung grins, briefly greeting his friend before turning to her. “What a coincidence, I was actually looking for you. Our frat is having a party, and you’re coming.” Y/n raises an eyebrow.
“Isn’t that what I’m at right now?”
Jimin laughs at this, shaking his head as he pours a drink for her. “This isn’t our party. We’re just all here. Our party is at our house.” His grin widens as he hands her a drink, his hand moving up to her face as he pushes a strand of her hair back. “I think you should come. It’ll be fun- more quiet than this, but still more than enough to keep a buzz going.” Y/n grins, briefly eyeing the drink he gave her before deeming it safe- with an encouraging look from Taehyung, she takes a sip.
“Well…I guess I can’t say no to free booze and fun, right?” She lets out a nervous laugh, which causes both Taehyung and Jimin to laugh as well.
“You can round up the guys, right Taehyung?” Jimin turns his attention to the younger boy, his gaze pointed. “I mean everyone, you know?” Taehyung’s eyes light up slightly and he nods.
“Right! Should I, uh…even…?” Jimin waves his hand dismissively.
“He’ll probably whine about it but make sure he comes. Think of it like…mandatory.” Taehyung gives him a thumbs up before leaving y/n alone with Jimin once again.
“Who were you talking about?” She asks, taking another sip of the drink in her hands, leaning against the wall and watching Jimin.
“Oh, just a new pledge. He’s a little shy, actually, you were just talking to him.” Y/n sputters, covering her mouth and blushing slightly.
“Oh, I mean…” Jimin laughs, leaning in slightly, “I wasn’t meaning to intrude or anything, but I saw him staring at you, and then when you walked up to him…” Jimin laughs softly, his pupils slightly blown as his gaze drags down her neck, scanning her body more quickly after that before snapping back up to meet hers. “I could see why he’d get nervous around you,” Jimin’s expression shifts back to a friendly, bright smile, although his body is much closer to y/n’s now, his hand dropping to fiddle with the hem of her shirt. “You’re beautiful, y/n.” Jimin’s gaze drops to her lips briefly and her heart flutters.
“Jimin…” Her gaze falls down, landing on his lips before she blushes and looks down, shrinking back slightly. Jimin pulls away as well, a soft laugh falling past his lips as he glances behind himself, rubbing the back of his neck.
“Sorry, y/n.” He grins, holding his hand out to her. “Can I walk you out to the car?” She smiles slightly, taking his hand, feeling slightly buzzed as she finishes off her drink and tosses the cup in the nearest trashcan.
They meet the rest of his friends outside, Taehyung’s eyes lighting up when he sees y/n, briefly darting over to a figure sitting in the back of the car. “Y/n!” He moves forward, meeting Jimin’s eyes and tilting his head before nodding, grabbing her hand. “Y/n, come on. There’s no room in my car- Namjoon can’t drive, so Jimin’s driving for us. He’s sober- but like I said, no room in my car. Could you ride with Seokjin? He’s in our frat as well- don’t worry.” Y/n frowns, watching Taehyung as she slowly tilts her head.
“Who can’t drive and who can drive? Who’s that,” she points at a group of two others, “and what did you just say?”
“I’m Hoseok,” one of the guys chimes in, smiling as he moves forward to shake her hand. “That’s Yoongi.” The black haired boy waves at her, but doesn’t say anything, instead just turns to Jimin and nods towards the car. He climbs in the passengers seat as Jimin places his hand on y/n’s shoulder, “it’s okay, y/n, Seokjin is a good driver. Plus, our new pledge is in that car. Maybe you could try talking to him again?” Y/n blushes slightly as Jimin guides her over to the car, opening the door for her and ushering her in before popping his head in. “Jeon, this is y/n. Play nice, okay?” The boy’s head whips up as his mouth drops open, but Jimin’s already shut the door, tapped the window, and stepped away.
And just like that, almost before y/n can even get her seat-belt on, the car is moving forward and the boy next to her is stiffer than ever, his eyes trained just past her face, looking out the window. Y/n bites her lip, taking a deep breath.
“Hi, again.” She turns to him, holding her hand out. “I’m y/n.” Seokjin’s eyes dart to the rearview mirror as he glances at the two expectantly. Y/n sighs when he ignores her once again and looks away. “Listen, I don’t know if I…” She glances up at the driver’s seat, lowering her voice slightly. “I don’t know if I offended you or something, but I didn’t mean to…so…I’m sorry?” The boy laughs- abruptly- almost as if he hadn’t meant to, and something tugs at the back of y/n’s brain.
“I, uh…” He speaks quietly, looking down at the floorboard before taking a deep breath, raising his head and turning to her. “You didn’t do anything.” Their gazes lock for the second time that night, and y/n’s heart twinges, his wide, dark eyes staring into hers with an odd sense of familiarity. “Sorry about earlier,” he rubs the back of his neck, biting his lip briefly before holding his hand out. “I’m… Jeongguk.” Y/n pauses briefly, her hand wavering as she raises it to meet his.
“Jeongguk?” He visibly inhales, his lips parting as he watches her, arm still extended towards her. “Jeon Jeongguk?”

Dragon Ball Z 226
Tumblr media
Master Roshi has a bad feeling about Goku and the others leaving the tournament the way they did.   So bad, that he has a couple of extras hold up an ominous background for him to stand in front of.
Tumblr media
Well, relax, old man, they’ve been staring at a wall for two episodes.   Meanwhile, we’ve got the Tenkaichi Budokai championship to watch.   It’s down to 18 vs. defending champion, Mr. Satan.
Tumblr media
Oh.   Well, that was fast.
Tumblr media
Turns out, 18 doesn’t actually want to win this match.    The grand prize is 10 million zeni, but she figures she can make even more money by getting Mr. Satan to pay her to take a dive.   So she offers to lose the match for 20 million zeni.
Tumblr media
She’s got nothing to lose here.   If Mr. Satan says no, she can just ring him out and settle for ten million.    But what would that do to Mr. Satan?
Tumblr media
This marks one of my favorite scenes in this arc.    Mr. Satan imagines the discrace of losing the tournament, and I’m pretty sure he’s making it out to be much worse than it would really be.
Tumblr media
The fans turn against him...
Tumblr media
People throw trash at him and never want to see him again...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This building gets demolished, which I assume is meant to represent his financial empire, but we’ve never seen this place before.   Also, I’m pretty sure the real estate would still be valuable.    Satan might get evicted, but they wouldn’t tear down the building, they’d just sell it to someone else.
Tumblr media
But the worst part of this is that he thinks his own daughter would despise him for losing the championship.   Let’s keep in mind, 18 isn’t threatening to expose him or anything like that.    If she beats Mr. Satan, it’ll just look like she’s even stronger than he is.   It won’t make him look like a weakling, and it won’t reveal that he lied about defeating Cell.   The funny thing is, Videl already knows Mr. Satan didn’t defeat Cell, but I’m getting off track.
My point is that this paints a picture of a very insecure man.    Mr. Satan needs the championship to feel like he matters in the world.   I’m not sure how it ended up this way.   I sort of wonder if he’s been like this all along, and he only entered the Cell Games seven years ago because he needed to become a hero or die trying.
But this is all really tragic.   Dude, the people love you because you stood up to Cell when no one else would.   And you won that 24th Budokai all by yourself, fair and square.    You’re a brilliant showman, and people respect that, win or lose.    You’re rich because you’re a savvy businessman who knows how take care of your brand.    Your daughter loves you because in spite of your flaws, you made time for her.    When her mother died, when the fame and celebrity came, you still took the time to teach her the martial arts, and you inspired her to become a greater hero than you could ever be.
Tumblr media
But Mr. Satan doesn’t realize all of that, and he’s about to pay a cyborg 20 million zeni so he doesn’t have to risk finding out.
Tumblr media
So he agrees to her terms, and she jumps off of him to make it look good.
Tumblr media
The problem is that it’s difficult to make it look good.  18′s so strong that she doesn’t know when to react to his offense...
Tumblr media
...And when she fights back, it’s too much for him.
Tumblr media
So she tells him to use his ultimate finisher, and he goes for it.
Tumblr media
SATAN MIRACLE SPECIAL ULTRA SUPER MEGATON PUNCH!!!!!!!
Tumblr media
DIRECT HIT!   9999 DAMAGE!    CRITICAL BONUS!!
Tumblr media
Uh...
Tumblr media
Yeah, 18 missed her cue because she didn’t realize this was his best move.
Tumblr media
So she falls out of the ring...
Tumblr media
... And Mr. Satan has to try to explain how his technique causes a delayed reaction, a la Fist of the North Star.
Tumblr media
Here is your winner... and STILL... World Champion of Martial Arts.... Misterrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr... SAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATANNNNNNNNNNNNNNnnnnn!
Tumblr media
Anyway, 18′s going to head over to his place tomorrow to get her money.   If he doesn’t pay up, she’ll kill him.    Movie 11 actually pays off this whole bit, but it’s kind of lousy.
Tumblr media
Meanwhile, Goten and Trunks meet Videl, who turned back from the Z-Fighter’s mission.    She tells the boys what’s going on and...
Tumblr media
THEY’RE SO EXCITED!
Tumblr media
Right about here, Videl is probably wishing she hadn’t said anything.
Tumblr media
But Goten insists on seeing Majin Buu.   Kid, you’re gonna wish you hadn’t...
Tumblr media
And they fly off, leaving Videl to wonder what she’s just done.
Tumblr media
Meanwhile, at Babidi’s spaceship, the good guys are STILL waiting for fucking Dabura to come to Stage Fucking Three and fight fucking Gohan already.     Geez!
Tumblr media
Gohan kind of sheepishly admits that he hasn’t kept up with his training, and Vegeta explains that he and Goku are stronger now.
Tumblr media
Meanwhile, the Supreme Kai is still astonished at who he’s teamed up with here.
Tumblr media
Then Dabura finally shows up.   Everyone gives him shit for being late, and Vegeta points out that Babidi must be desperate if he’s sending his top guy out already.
Tumblr media
Dabura wants to dispense with the formalities and get down to business.   Oh, now he’s in a hurry?   Fuck you, Dabura.   Maybe Gohan needs to sit in the meditation chamber for an hour.  You ever think of that, you inconsiderate goof?
Tumblr media
Gohan insists on fighting alone, and he wants a change of venue, just like Goku and Vegeta got, so Babidi obliges.
Tumblr media
I have no idea what planet this is, but Dabura requested one like Earth, just so there’d be no excuses when he beats these guys.   For all I know, this is Earth, and it’s just around sunrise.
Tumblr media
Bleh, I’m Batman!
Tumblr media
Okay, so this fight sucks.   This part here isn’t quite so bad, mostly because they’re just sort of starting out before the end of the episode.  But it’s mostly Gohan and Dabura chasing each other and neither scores any real hits.
Tumblr media
Before long, Gohan turns Super Saiyan, and it looks like we’re in for a good match...
Tumblr media
But we’re not.   Trust me.

Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma Chapter 258 Review
Tumblr media
It was a sweet dream to think of a Pairing War Match and we got it. It was going swell with Rindou and Tsukasa delivering their full course of meal; leaving to Soma and Erina to overcome the odds. It was really nice for Soma subtly asked her for help to create a great appetizer. Then, something felt off. Why? It’s all because this final match is no longer two-on-two. Because of it, the match has become more interesting. In fact, this is a much better approach than I once predicted.
It’s another case of vintage Soma chapter and that’s a really good thing. Suddenly, plenty of elements that made the series really fun and enjoyable that captured the audience in the first place. Soma the protagonist is back with his unpredictable planning on the spot; which is probably made this chapter interesting. That all said his appetizer is revealed and it’s a meat that is straight out of caveman anime or Monster Hunter or One Piece or anything cartoony. Darn, I was hoping for squid.
Then again, the meat is a clever call back to the first chapter with its ingredients such as wrapping around a pate with thin slices of beef, so squid or not, it’s a good nostalgia moment with an added twist. Plus, the meat does look pretty darn good, so I am not to complain. I like how Rindou was complaining about his appetizer to be anything but, though why would she try to school him over it anyway. Bottom line, his serving looks really good, but as an appetizer, that is skeptical.
It doesn’t stop the foodgasm scene with Decora being wrapped around the slices of beef; some imagination Saeki really has for fan service. Soma describes his ingredients, which sounds seriously delicious; but it is meat orientated, so my biasness is showing. It’s the Yakinuku sauce that did the job done. He has done some adjustment to it and then asked Erina for a test to make sure it pairs up wonderfully with pate.
It couldn’t be done without Erina’s help to bring out the best balance of flavor for his cooking. It’s worth noting that it goes back to the beginning with the flashback. Erina and Soma had a meeting about the appetizer. She explained the concept of pate de campagne in case he gets the position, which is funny knowing how much it became true for Soma. It must be a cruel karma for him. It was funny yet nice of him to take her advice to implement it in his cooking, so even though he was upset, at least he kept her words into work despite some twists and turns. Well played.
Tumblr media
It doesn’t help that the juice between the layers of meat was seeping out. Damn the art for making the food look too good. Just reading the description on how it changes the flavor makes me wish an ingredient book for it. I wouldn’t mind trying to cook one. One day. It was so good that Decora and Courage was stripped down in public, similar to what happened to Nishiki and others. The guys’ reaction is something that I would imagine real fans would react; free fan service.
Azami must be feeling foolish about bragging his “Blessing” before because of the Central’s delivery. However, because he exposed the secret as silly it is, everyone can easily tell his thoughts on the dish. Decora and Courage got stripped down, so everyone can tell that he thought it was delicious; no need to hide. It’s worse that it was those two high class judges that got affected, so despite that it may not be based on judges’ level, it still make Soma look really good.
Azami is most likely envy or “salty” about his delivery, so he is doing his best to downplay his cooking. Soma is thankful that he was able to work on his old dish, now in remastered or true form. I laughed for some reason; probably due to how many games or other media are having remastered edition this time around. It’s the culmination of the new recipes he invented, fused into one, and created the dish that can rival Tsukasa’s specialty. It’s great to see how much he has truly improved. His name of his cooking, however, still needs tons of work.
Azami surprisingly compliment Soma’s cooking, even going far as saying that he can challenge Tsukasa’s White Armor Plate. It’s worth noting that he was looking annoyed by his tactic as well as the delivery; giving you an idea that he doesn’t want to admit, but give credit where it is due even if it’s by someone who is against your ideology. However, he does rebound that despite Soma’s excellence, he is ruining the concept of a full course meal with his appetizer unqualified to be as such.
Tumblr media
The problem is Soma is acting a non-Shounen protagonist with his move to derail the concept of teamwork. He went into business for himself by practically delivering the meal over an appetizer in which would override Erina’s cooking. In other words, Soma helped the Central to win the battle and war all in one day. And he was wondering why he lost to Erina in the popularity poll. From what I recollected, it was said that the spoiler actually got fans frustrated at his tactic; however, the full picture shifted the view 180 and honestly, it made this battle more interesting.
Soma looks like he has turned heel when he proclaims that he must defeat the one and only Erina. I know she’s the Queen but now it’s not the best time to go against her. I guess I too would be pondering on why he is doing this if I only focused on the spoiler; however, it’s the later scene that got me fascinated. He let her know that Tsukasa’s cooking was incredible, even go far as saying that Erina has zero chance to win. This probably gave the spectators a feeling that Soma did it in his accord because he’s that selfish. But the real motive comes out when he gets really serious.
He observed her cooking from last night, yet it didn’t blow him away like Tsukasa. Instead of showing that he has no faith, it’s actually the opposite. He knows that none of them were her specialty; he knows she is capable to cook up something amazing. So he went out there to cook something so good, she must cook something that will blow everyone away, including Tsukasa’s. It’s an unpredictable tactic by Soma and yet it is brilliant. Unpredictable Soma is truly the best Soma.
Erina basically holds the candle that signifies that she is the one to end the arc with a bang. That alone is great to know a Heroine ending the long arc, but this tactic will evaluate her into the grand spotlight. Soma more or less forced her to go out there and claim the glory over him, which is great. I don’t want Soma hogging it as he practically gave up on it; leaving Erina everything to be a megastar. It’s even better because this will obliterate Azami with her cooking, which by the way hasn’t taste her dish in a long time. He has no idea what he’s in for.
Tumblr media
What fascinated me as well is the fact Soma declared a personal Shokugeki on the spot with Erina. It has become 1 vs. 1 vs. 2.  The main point is the fact Soma managed to find a way to challenge and motivated Erina; killed two birds with one stone. Soma is actually in a win-win situation, which that alone baffled me in a good way. If Erina fails to deliver, Soma will win because his cook is better than hers. If Erina blow the expectations away, Soma may lose but in the overall war, the win will be shared. This pairing really runs deep and I love it.
You may wonder, “Why not tell her before that he will do this?” Soma is a guy that will put the situation unease in the first glance, but his drive will motive the person who is in effect by his move. Erina didn’t do any specialty last night, which bothered him because if she is holding back, what is the point. The concept may be about delivering the full course meal, but it doesn’t have to go by the rule. Rindou more or less sacrifice her cooking for Tsukasa, which is fine; however, Soma is aiming more than fixated rules behind the concept.
This will give Erina a motivation to surpass herself that will still deliver the full course meal properly; so long she is true to her words. If she gives up due to pressure, it somewhat proves Azami is right. If she can still exceed on the spot, then the Rebels’ message is not only proven right, but it can show everyone how it is really done. I mean sure, Soma may have sacrifice his chance to get First Seat, but it’s Erina. He can be happy about that. How noble of him.
This was a pretty interesting chapter that I really like where this is going. The appetizer looks delicious despite the appearance and the description just makes it so good. Soma’s moment of fame was really good; Azami feeling foolish for announcing his “blessing” to everyone. The art is pretty good as well; Soma’s evil face made me laugh. The master plan from Soma made this bout really interesting because it positioned Erina as the main spotlight and she will end this arc with a bang. The pairing just keeps on delivering.

And Now Shameless Slanders The Littlest Milkovich?  FUCK YOU
My recap of Season H8 Episode H8
They really had Vee refer to Yevgeny as a “little psychopath”, just to retcon every decent Milkovich that ever was.  Completely unnecessary and untrue, and WHERE THE FUCK IS IAN, WHY ISN’T HE IN THIS KID’S LIFE ANYMORE, HE STATED FLAT OUT HE LOVED YEVGENY.  Thank goodness there’s a gif of a Henckel flipping the bird to help me through this trying time.
I’ll try to temper my bitterness for the rest of this, but I make no guarantees.
That horrific remark about an innocent child aside, this episode had little to get me riled up over-it was one of the most boring episodes they’ve ever done-every week they seem to outdo themselves on that front.
This piece of shit-pardon me-episode was written by day-to-day showrunner Nancy Pimental and it was either her lame attempt at trying to win Macy that Emmy OR her purposely sabotaging him, because his storyline was the longest and most painfully unfunny this week.
Also it was directed by Emmy Rossum and she gave herself a shit ton of close ups which I suppose is her prerogative and heaven knows the writer didn’t give her much story to shoot.
This week opens with the dog Rusty staring at a still in bed Fiona and kicks off the aforementioned close ups.  I still want that dog to be explained-the law isn’t “dogs that have eaten human flesh must be destroyed-unless someone’s willing to take a chance on rescuing them”.  Why is there zero fucking research on this show?
Meanwhile, Franny’s screaming but Debs is too busy in the bathroom taking a half dozen pregnancy tests and acting like the world owes her something-that will be her theme throughout the episode, as it has been for the past few seasons.
Nancy tries to capture some of that “all the Gallaghers in one place at one time” magic by having everyone crowd around the bathroom and giving Ian his first spoiled toddler line of the ep, “Guess I won’t shower today-gonna get filthy anyway cleaning that shitty building my sister found for homeless kids.”  Whatever that meaningful moment on Ian’s bed was last episode is being forgotten or ignored by this dumbass show.  Will it ever be revisited?  Who knows.
Lip, who this season is like Mrs. Kravitz on Bewitched and seems to have this compelling need to insert himself into other people’s drama while ignoring his own, volunteers to take Debbie to Planned Parenthood where she again acts like a total bitch who needs a reality check, and where Lip just happens to be there to see Charlie (Snore’s ex) walk in with a very pregnant woman.  Such fortuitous timing!
There’s a gross scene of Carl peeing into a toilet between Kassidi’s legs as she sits on the back of the toilet-good god, Nancy, is that what you think the kids are into these days?  All I’m gonna say about Kassidi is that she’s exactly like Sammi only younger and even more charmless.  Whoever the fuck thought the show needed that vibe back needs to be fired.  And I get that Carl is supposed to be thinking with his self-inflicted deformed dick, but, really?  After seeing his father and Monica over the years, plus living with Sammi for a bit, he wouldn’t know enough to run from that type of chick?
Frank has this totally convoluted “only on Shameless” business venture going where he’s going to smuggle immigrants who feel unsafe in the USA over the Canadian border and bring back his car loaded with prescription drugs.  Sure, Frank.  Anyway, the only scene of note in the many long and boring scenes he got this week is when he’s listing talented Canadians-and when he DOESN’T say “Noel Fisher” we all hear it anyway and laugh at this lame show for letting all that talent go.  Assholes.
Instead of recycling Mickey’s shirts this week, the show does something even more stupid: they use the VFW hall where Mickey got married as the new youth shelter AND they use the basement where Mickey and Ian banged before his wedding as the food bank Debbie goes to!  Okay, Cam, I gotta say, that’s a version of audacious-reminding us of those classic Mickey moments the show can’t come close to having using any of the characters they’ve kept on.
Speaking of Mickey (not that the show ever does), Nancy tries to recreate some of that old Mickey magic with having Terror call Ian a “Negative Nellie” when he bitches some more about the new youth shelter.  Pinning nicknames on Ian is a Mickey thing only-why are they constantly reminding us of the gaping holes that losing Noel has left?
Anyway, here’s how Nancy tried to bring some shit talking South Side back into the show: Ian: This place is a dump. Terror (to Geneva): Don’t listen to Negative Nellie he’s still mad about the church. I: (sarcastic) Ye-ah, cuz you got pity fucked by my sister with this building. T: (imitates Ian) Ye-ah-and she was really good.
Side note-can you imagine Ian ever trying to joke with Mickey about him fucking his sister?  Sheesh.
I: I bet-she’s great at getting what she wants and screwing everybody else.
WTF?  Has Nancy ever seen the show?  Fiona always winds up screwing herself over.  I’m not a huge fan of Fiona’s big sister act, but even I can admit she sacrificed a lot for her younger siblings and never did things to screw them while advancing herself.  The thing Ian should be mad about is Fiona’s comments about Mickey-and even then she didn’t screw Mickey or Ian, she just said some stupid shit that Ian didn’t have to listen to.
Anyway, Geneva tells Ian and Terror about the gay conversion church, so now I know taking on organized religion wasn’t what Ian referred to as “larger concerns”.  One of the youths tried to commit suicide after being subjected to it, so Ian and Terror go visit him and the kid holds up his bandaged wrists and asks if they like his hot wristbands and even though it’s canon that Ian witnessed his mother moments after she slit her wrists and Terror spent his prom night in an emergency room because he slit his, neither of them bat an eye or react in any way to the kid’s injuries.
Emmy throws in a way too long scene of Fiona dancing around in her underwear (after more way too long Frank scenes).  Again it amazes me how this show just recycles the same shit over and over-anyone remember Fiona’s happy dance in the church she went to check out for her and Sean to get married in?
Ford catches her in the act and entices her to go out and look at Chicago architecture with him-I want the jobs that either of them have where they have all the free time in the world to lollygag.  And why is the show wasting all this time on all this crap in one episode?  Paint drying on those historic buildings would’ve been more interesting to watch than this hour of television.
At the end of their tour, Ford shows her the inside of a house he’s working on (all by himself, apparently, I guess he doesn’t work with a crew) and asks her to lie down on an improbably placed mattress and she’s a tad hesitant at first, but when she does it, he points out art on the ceiling to her.  She’s impressed with its beauty and then starts making out with Ford in a total recreation of Ian with Faileb and thinking that guys who show any bit of interest in them as people must want to fuck them.  It was stupid with Faileb, it’s stupid with Ford.
There’s a scene somewhere along the line with Kev and Vee that’s bordering on spousal abuse-I really wish they’d end this “Kev grows some balls” idea immediately. "Big neanderthal man” is not a thinking person’s idea of an ideal partner.
Ugh, now for more of the Ian crap.  He goes home and asks if they have a Bible laying around.  He finds one, and the next day-THE VERY NEXT DAY-he and Terror go to the gay conversion church and Ian gets into a Bible quoting match with the pastor/minister/whatever he is.  I’m sure Cam was hard as a rock thinking he was coming off like Samuel L. Jackson in Pulp Fiction, but the movie character I was thinking of was Rain Man-how else could he have memorized several Bible passages overnight unless he’s some sort of idiot savant?
Terror is basically an Ian accessory in the scene-a backpack or a briefcase or a Trapper Keeper, holding Ian’s Bible for him until he needs it.  And the whole, “We’ll probably be banging again soon” right after Terror calls himself Ian’s ex was stupid-not funny or sexy, which I bet was what good old Nancy was going for.
Cut to a scene of Snore getting a bit of a story thread that they probably originally kicked around for Mandy, and she has the triggering line that she’ll “run away to Mexico” if her father is released from prison.  Sure, Snore, whatever.
Then there’s the scene where Kev is trying out his domineering dick act for the second time this ep on Svetlana, and Vee gets turned on and hands Yev over to Svetlana calling him that P word.  Fuck you, bitch.  I hope Svetlana is scheming to fuck Kev and Vee over big time-they have a scene where it looks like Svet’s doing that, but with this show, who knows if it’ll be alluded to again?
In the time it took Ian and Terror and the refugees from the gay conversion church to walk to the youth shelter, a video a person recorded at the church on her phone has been uploaded to You Tube and Geneva tells Ian it has a thousand hits already-cuz, yeah, Nance, that’s how the You Tube works.  Homeless kids working to clean up a dilapidated building have their iPhones turned on to get alerts whenever a video that has anything to do with gays gets posted to YT and they all drop everything and watch it.
The only other thing I want to mention is the preview for next week-they show a quick clip of Ian and Terror pulling their shirts off that’s a ripoff of Mickey and Ian’s first time, a shot of Ian watching Terror asleep next to him in his bed where he’s awkwardly as fuck touching his face, and then a clip of Ian saying, “Kinda nice-us being a thing again.”  (WHAT HAPPENED TO GET OFF MY PORCH, DICK????  But I digress.)  Terror answers, “Jury’s still out.”  Well, if by jury he means FANS, we handed down our verdict a long time ago.
I wonder if the show is trying to set up them finding their way to be a “true” couple (GAG), and then “tragedy” will strike and pull them apart when Ian gets arrested and they think  it’ll be poignant and painful for the fans, when actually we’ll be cheering and yelling, “Throw Ian in prison for 15 years, bitches!  Throw away the key and don’t have anyone visit!  Have Terror say it’s too painful for him to see him behind glass like that!!!!”
But then again, this show is so inconsistent maybe that’s not where they’re headed at all.  Maybe they just think Ian needs the chase to stay interested, and for some misguided reason the writers think that’s what the fans want to see.
We really, really don’t, though.
And I can’t say it enough: Fuck this show for that line about little Yev.  It seemed like another very deliberate slap to the face of Mickey Milkovich fans everywhere.

Digimon Adventure Tri – Symbiosis (Part 5) Movie Premier
Aight so I had great seats and I was sitting with a friend so it was great because we were whispering ‘what the fuck’ and crying together. We had a group of us scattered throughout the cinema, so that was cool and we debated for two-three hours after the movie, and the next two days lol.
ALSO: It’s been a few days, emotions were high, my Japanese isn’t flawless, etc etc. I may be wrong, I may accidentally write ‘it was this’ when that’s subjective and not fact etc. Take everything with a grain of salt. I’ve covered pretty much everything, and I’m pretty sure most of it is correct and have noted where I think otherwise.
General opinion: Meiko’s story has gone on too long, and while it’s finally gotten good, it’s too little too late. However, considering everything that Toei has set up so far and what they have to work with, it was a good movie. I think it was better than movie 4, which is my least favourite, but not as good as others. Some moments were stupid and others did not get what they deserved. Ai Kotoba is beautiful and it’s really refreshing and just an all round lovely song.
Let’s get down to eleven pages of business!
We start with Meiko being choked by Gennai, a direct continuation of last movie. Meikuumon goes bonkers. And ends up opening a fuck tonne of portals to the real world and Gennai’s pretty happy because there’s angry Digimon invading the real world. It happens over a while (separate scenes) but these Digimon cause chaos by invading shit and stuff. They aren’t friendly but we don’t really see them do BAD things – it’s more that they have a bad presence and are making people v v nervous. Often Digimon like Tankmon. Like, if there were 50 Tankmon in your street, it wouldn’t matter if they were actively attacking or not. Them being there is enough of an attack to terrorise people. It’s also likely it’s the infection/Mmon’s influence.
Meikuumon almost kills Meiko but Taichi saves her. This isn’t an issue – tbh we all know Meiko can’t do shit for herself. She’s been rescued before, it’s her character type. What the issue is is after her rescued her, he kept holding her. This happens a few more times. The over touching is really unnecessary and leads a heavy TaiMei vibe throughout the movie, which I don’t like, purely because Meiko hasn’t really got much of a deep character). I can ship pretty much anything if it’s written well (even in fics) but Meiko has no character to write well. And considering Taichi was so overly touchy with her, yet abandons Hikari later made me super pissed. Meikuumon disappears into the real world. Meiko’s glasses cracked when Gennai choked her.
There’s a Meikuumon flashback where Mmon comes out of a bush to find Meiko. We see a pool of blood behind it – Meiko doesn’t with feathers in it. Meiko cleans Mmon up, Meiko’s mum is concerned why she has blood on her shirt. Meiko’s like wtf I wasn’t hurt?? It’s from Mmon’s claws. Neither of them figure it out tho (or say so directly). This is from around the time Meiko found Mmon (Meikuumon).
Throughout the film we see lots of Mmon flashbacks. Mei looking after her, bathing her, Mmon being terrified by birds when she gets lost (hence the pool of blood), Mmon sneaking in Meiko’s school bag, being lonely when Mei is away etc. We also see shots of her in a lab, being very unhappy, Meiko’s dad talking about testing and researching, Hime lurking in the lab looking ready to move, Mmon in a trashed lab on a rampage and Mei calming her down, but being scared at the same time.
Hiemkawa is stumbling around calling for her partner. Why did you reject me? Where are you? She’s lost it. She’s completely gone.
The kids are in the Digi World but the Digital World doesn’t want them (Yggdrasil’s doing?). It keeps raining or using plants to attack them. At one point an entire cliff disappears beneath them, so they all fall. Later, when they’re running more from the world itself, Takeru tries to lead the way but the cliff disappears again and he’s just in the moment before he falls and he’s like ‘eh?’ and it’s a really nice bit of humour.
There’s a camp fire scene and there is such a beautiful rendition of Butter-fly playing. Easily one of my top ten moments. I don’t think it entirely matched the scene but damn. Release a stupidly priced BGM album of Tri with this on it and I’ll buy it in a heartbeat. Anyway, the scene is basically another ‘Meiko your part of our group’. One of Yamato’s lines was really cool ‘you’re not a chosen child. We’re the chosen children’. I especially like that line because it applies to ALL children, not just the original adventure kids. It isn’t about what you’ve experienced, it’s about the bond with Digimon some humans have.
Hikari is very much ‘we aren’t wanted. It doesn’t want us here. It’s telling us to leave’. And everyone doesn’t really like hearing that, but Takeru is really the only one going ‘uh, WHY do you feel that??’. Like it’s clear how the world is acting, but why does she think it’s the world attacking them more than a side effect of reboot or something. This is because they refuse to kill Mmon. The world is seeing them as a virus, something that’s unwelcome. Mmon is causing destruction and chaos – the digital world doesn’t want it, and essentially, if you don’t want Mmon dead, you’re on it’s side.
Tai’s mother is very worried about the situation. She’s worried about the world and her kids and the Digimon. She decides she can’t do anything but make sure they’ll be well fed when they get back, so she starts cooking. It might not sound good from my description, but it’s very simple and raw. She loves her kids. She knows she’s powerless. All she can do is hope and make sure they know how much she cares when they come back.
I wish we had more of these. Show me Yamato’s dad looking through footage trying to make sure the kids aren’t there getting hurt, Takeru’s mother harassing media contacts, Jyou’s family wondering about the casualities and hoping Jyou’s studies will help him if he needs it, Koushirou’s parents concerned but knowing how knowledgeable their boy is so he’s probably gonna keep himself out of trouble, Mimi’s parents worried, demanding police and whatever security agencies they can find if they know where she is, Sora’s mother glad that Sora grew up a tomboy and isn’t afraid of dirt and scary things, Meiko’s mother worried about the inner conflict her daughter must be going through.
Nishijima and Meiko’s dad talk while this is happening. MMON IS NOT EVOLVING. It is a power boost, yes, and it’s essentially very similar to the same levels of a shinka digimon, but it is NOT shinka. Mmon is abnormal and always has been. Mmon is confirmed to be related to Apoclymon in some shape – this could mean Mmon is an off shot of Amon, or got power/evil from the same source, anything really. Hackmon is very vague and unhelpful and has a difficult way of speaking. Also I found it really hard to concentrate here since Hackmon is sitting on a tv and looks very dog like, and considering it’s the movie about the cat digimon humans, I thought it was very amusing (small things, small minds?). Also, the tv is showing people debate about Digimon. One dude is very anti Digimon, another is very extra (think the shiny sparkly laser guy from BnHA, but not quite as extra) and then one dude, the closest to the screen, looks like he’s settling in for an angry nap. I love it.
Nishijima is pretty pissed and wants to know more and why Hackmon didn’t tell them anything. Hackmon is all like ‘lmao you couldn’t do shit anything anyway’ and Nishijima’s like ‘…true’. Also, Hackmon says they (Hack and Homeo) didn’t interfere with Mmon because they were trusting Meiko to keep it in line (ie Mmon was given to Meiko to be her partner, rather than them being destined for each other like the others). I mean, that seems like a bad idea, but okay sure, leave everything to the fate of a little girl. Why not. In any case, it’s now up to the Chosen to destroy Mmon.
Meiko is basically Mmon’s hope. Without Meiko, Mmon will lose it, hence why Gennai strangled her. Mmon is a toddler and Meiko is the safety blanket. Take the blanket away and you have a temper tantrum and uncontrollable actions on your hands.
The kids return to the real world with their Digimon. The fear mongering against the Digimon has reached bad levels, but we’re not really shown this so it isn’t as impactful as it could have been. (This could have been shown later with Mimi or Koushirou checking social media and getting pissed that people were talking shit about Digimon. I think they tried to a show don’t tell thing with the press conference on tv, etc, but I just don’t think it was done well, especially in some scenes where we see police/army/enforcement of some description trying to get civilians with cameras away from the Digimon infested spots, so it looks touristy rather than people being scared)
Anyway, a kid starts crying because Digimon are scary. Agumon’s like ?? let’s be friends and a police officer comes over. Obviously, Digimon are bad now so they call in support. Taichi fucking bolts and everyone follows. Digimon escape into the server. The kids are taken in by the police.
As they’re running, Taichi grabs Meiko’s hand. In the end, she’s like ‘um? I can run by myself?’. She’s polite and blushing, which you kinda do when you’re running and have your hand held by a cute boy. He lets go of her hand. There was no reason for him to do that unless he likes her or thinks she’s so weak she needs protecting. He’s never treated the other girls like that so to me it feels OOC. Her words also seem like a rejection to me. It wasn’t funny, didn’t develop anything and was oddly placed. Bad scene is bad.
The kids learn about how people view Digimon. It would have been nice to see interviews from classmates. Seeing Taichi and Yamato react again would have been interesting, plus you could have had Nishijima’s conflict of interests – Digimon dude vs teacher. What does he think of his student’s views, being so close to our chosen and being chosen himself?
Nishijima bails them out but can’t take them home. (Himekawa is missing, so he’s essentially doing her job as well) I guess the police chase was shown on the news or leaked or something, since people are in front of the Chosen’s house. Media too. It isn’t safe for them to go home. I wish they’d played up more of ‘but are our families ok?’. Especially Yamato’s and Takeru’s parents since they’re in the media!! Like, make them feel worried about how it will impact their jobs, or if they can even go to work or whatever.
He shows them a photo of Meikuumon blowing up the power plant. Meiko has new glasses as well as her old cracked ones (maybe she had a same pair of the same style at home that Nishi got for her, but considering he said it was too dangerous for them to go back home, idk. I guess people wouldn’t know who he is, but if the media is there you can bet they want interviews from the neighbours and anyone entering/leaving the building).
Anyway, Nishijima makes them hang out at school in the Calligraphy Club room. Apparently the school is shut for the summer, but mine never shut so… It’s possible this could be Obon, which my schools did shut for and a lot of businesses take a few days off for.
In a throw back to the stage play, now it’s night Mimi decides it’s time to gossip. My group was discussing whether the play took ideas from the movie, or perhaps they purposely tied it in, or new writers or what. A few other things were similar from the play that we hadn’t seen in Tri before, so it’s likely the creative teams spoke at one point.
Takeru says it’s only natural that they do ghost stories since it’s summer. Yamato is overly against it, which calls attention to him. Takeru enjoys mocking how scared he is. Yamato tries to deny it. The girls all gossip about him and he’s desperately trying to be cool. The DIGIMON start to talk shit and he’s even worse.
Jyou makes a lame attempt at telling a story. Yama’s slightly spoked still. Takeru starts (of course, with a torch light on his face). Yamato’s getting more freaked out. But the way Takeru starts just makes Mimi and Sora laugh so he passes the torch to Meiko (who ALL of the Digimon want to hear from :/ - whether you like Meiko or not, the fact that everyone hangs on her word is a little OTT at times).
So she starts. And this is something she actually is good at. Everyone’s freaking out. (It’s pretty generic, in a school hear the ringing of a bike bell blah blah) Yamato is fucking paranoid. “And on the other side of the door-”
Door opens.
SCREAMING
It’s just Nishijima. Nishijima is so confused why they’re all sitting in a dark room. Yamato looks like he had a heart attack ;;;;;; Honestly I can’t do justice to this scene. Everyone was great here and Yamato’s nervous twitching was PERFECT.
Anyway Nishijima buys them food and reminds them that it’s late. He asks if they want to stay the night. Yamato’s NO is perhaps a little too fast and loud lmao More shit talking ensures. Someone makes a snark about him being scared and Nishijima has also suggested a hotel, but Yamato has to gain back his image and says it’s fine to stay there. Jou wants the hotel but if it’s just him, he’d rather stay with everyone than being alone.
They call their families. Mimi is crying (not sobs, just tears, while she’s talking to her parents) and Sora hugs her while she’s also on the phone. We don’t hear most of the conversations, so this is very touching. Jou talks alone on the stair case, Koushirou is happily chatting away. Yamato and Takeru call their respective guardians and Yamato chooses not to talk to his mother. Hikari finishes talking to their mother and passes the phone to Taichi.
“How is she (Hikari)?” “Not gonna ask about your son?” (said in a joking way) “I know you’ll be ok. I’m entrusting the two Digimon and Hikari to you, ok?” “Yeah yeah”
We see their mum has made a huge amount of food to welcome them back because she was so worried about them. She’s relieved their back home, but you can see in her expression she’s still a bit worried.
Taichi is wandering around and finds Meiko on the phone to her dad. She’s very clearly not ok but her dad doesn’t seem to be giving two shits. Like, we don’t hear him talk, but judging by what we’ve seen he isn’t the most emotional man and she didn’t seem to be like ‘thanks for the pep talk. Im still depressed but thanks for trying’. Even when he was talking to Nishijima and they were saying as long as Meiko is safe Mmon is ok – he was like ‘hm, damn, hope she’s alright then because this thing is fucking shit up. So she’s probably not ok. Hm’. Yes, I realise more than Meiko is at stake. But decent parents would show more concern – nobody in the room (Hackmon and Nishi) are his superiors, he wouldn’t lose face, etc. There was no reason for him to be distant except he is distant. So fuck him to be honest. I’m all about good family relationships and I think Digimon has shown enough ‘oh they have family issues’ (Koushirou, Yamato and Takeru, Sora etc) that Meiko didn’t need it in her sob story either.
Taichi approaches Meiko and she is way too real. It’s great she is finally having deep thoughts, but she’s pretty dark and worries about her self worth (I’m someone who can’t do anything). She worries about if it’s ok for everyone to help her and put her in danger to help her rescue her partner. Taichi starts to go back to his leader roots. I wish I understood more of the conversation/could convey it clearer. Meiko really needed this development. This scene was important for her, and I really wish it had come a lot sooner.
The Digimon are all anxiously watching. “Should I tell Sora?” “Maybe I should tell Hikari!” “Yamato would want to know about this!”
Agumon wonders over to Meiko shortly after Taichi leaves. The Digimon do the same thing.
It’s honestly really cute. This is probably the shippiest thing ever. You can see it as friendship, but if Mimi and Jyou were talking I doubt the Digimon would bat an eyelid. Part of it comes with how new Meiko is and part of it is Toei being Toei. All the Digimon are curious to how their humans will react to this one on one time.
Agumon asks if she’s hungry. She mentions she’s fine, but her heart is a little empty. I can’t remember the wording, but he basically said that can be fixed because everyone likes her. It’s very naïve and childish, but it’s innocent and I felt like these incidents cemented her place in the group and made her more willing to trust everyone. She cries and hugs him.
(So I know a lot of people have issues with Tri’s humour. Mostly Agumon and his stupid food obsessed nature. The ghost story scene was done very well, and even Agumon’s scene here was done really well, despite me being bad at describing it. The humour fits the movie, doesn’t feel out of place and has done more to make Meiko a part of the group than so many other scenes combined have. It’s definitely one of the best scenes of the movie (ghosts) and in the Tri franchise)
The next day Mmon appears so everyone runs out to fight it. This fight is very long and the last 1/4? Maybe more of the movie is pure action (from here until the end). Surprisingly the streets are still ok. Everyone gets screen time but nobody really gets a shining moment. Everyone goes perfect and then mega (except Angewoman). Jesmon appears to eliminate Mmon who powers up to Raguelmon.
Maki is still stumbling around, wondering what the fuck she did because she caused the world to be shit and her partner doesn’t even remember her so what’s the point?
Hikari ends up being possessed by homeo again and fights it off. It’s saying they need to kill Mmon and Hikari ain’t about that life. THIS is the Hikari I’ve been waiting for. She doesn’t take shit despite her kind personality. If something was possessing you, would you sit idly by? It was a short scene, and you kinda see the real Hikari as a shadow/ghost, shouting to her body/homeo telling it to fuck off.
There is a pic of Takeru holding Hikari with Meiko in the bg. “I guess this takes place after Hikari breaks free from homeostasis” – yes. I have a lot of issues with this scene. It happens in the free for all fight and Taichi basically runs off to keep fighting. Considering this happens after the call where his mother specifically asked him to look after her, where he is the leader, where he is her brother!!!!, I’m pissed at this decision. Yes, the fight is important, but the digimon can do it by themselves? Humans get in the way? He should have been there for Hikari more instead of letting other people carry her (she’s fatigued and needs two people to support her). It also would have made his disappearance have more of an impact.
They enter the Digital World. (At one point Mmon protects Meiko and everyone is like? Is it because they’re partners or because Mmon wanted to fight Jesmon? The kids were divided on this and weren’t in clearly chosen camps. I personally didn’t see a whole lot of protecting Meiko in this scene – even Meiko wasn’t entirely sure).
Alphamon (Team Ygg) comes to fight Jesmon (Team Homeo). Everyone gets destroyed to baby forms. Omegamon has to fight/protect Raguelmon who is trying to fight Omegamon (from Jesmon). Jesmon charges a massive attack and tries to shoot Raguelmon (I’ll probably use Mmon since it’s easier sorry – also Raguelmon is never called that by name due to no evolution sequence, it never doing anything but screaming unlike every other Digimon, and Koushirou doesn’t look it up even though he looks Jesmon up? etc). Alphamon attacks Jesmon as it’s about to fire and it goes off course, causing the ground to shatter. I wouldn’t say Alphamon is on Omegamon’s side but they aren’t enemies..? As mentioned by Jay on WtW, even Miyazaki Ayumi (side note: AiM was very cute the whole thing, Hikari kept looking to Taichi to help her answer because MAO is kinda spacy and Meiko’s VA is  v v v cute) felt some confusion in this fight. Jesmon and Alphamon are nowhere to be seen after this happens and by the time the dust has cleared everyone is back to their baby form bar Mmon.
(I can’t remember at exactly what point it happens, but later on, we Himekawa in the DARK OCEAN!!! She sees the demony things, and has a gun but doesn’t use it. She’s still loony af. She drowns. Her scenes are short but really strong. Nishijima ends up kinda feeling that something happens to her (red string of fate www). He’s also wondering why he was chosen as a child (he did in the Hackmon talk as well – it’s really nice to see him be very human instead of a goof who happens to be a secret agent) and remembers him and Hime with their Digimon as kids.)
Meiko had been running toward Mmon at this point (she decided that it would be best for everyone if Mmon was killed – Taichi accepted this decision, though Yamato was initially against it. Yamato gave in – I believe it was partly because it’s logical – Mmon is causing hell, infecting everyone etc. Part of it is his crest – he doesn’t want his friends hurt (also why he fought the choice) or disrespect them when they’re serious (this seemed to be Taichi’s main motivation). Meiko has finally gotten serious and her choice is the most logical, and she’s the one that hurts the most from it. Disrespecting this would be pretty rude, and there is nobody else who can fight apart from Omegamon.)
Meiko running toward Mmon is partly due to her low feeling of self worth. On top of that, I think she was hoping to get hurt and to give Omegamon a chance to get Mmon. Meiko didn’t make this choice easily. She’s my least fave Tri character, but I really felt for her here. TaiYama had been following her (Yamato first – despite agreeing to Mmon being killed, I don’t think he would let this one slide. Again, she doesn’t need to be hurt, she’s hurting enough, it’s not logical for her to be physically hurt, his crest etc).
The ground shatters, Yama saves Meiko. This could be seen as shippy since he’s saved her more than once (she shouldn’t need to be saved as often as she has been…). But I don’t think so. He has the crest of friendship. He’s seen enough friends die. Again, I don’t think it felt particularly shippy so I think it was Toei being weird when they made him hold her longer than necessary.
Taichi nods to Omegamon in a very short but powerful scene. He’s so far away from the other two. Omon saves Yamato and Meiko as a result. Theres a few shouts as Taichi starts to fall. Nishijima tries to save him but they both fall. This was a really well done scene. I don’t think Digimon has ever filled me with so much dread. Yamato called for Taichi and that hurt. Shipper or not, these two have a strong bond. They don’t always agree or get along, and in Tri they’ve been weird, but they were shot by angels together. Taichi just gave up his life for these two. That’s a bond and a half.
Everyone thinks Taichi’s dead. That’s stupid, but they don’t know they’re anime ;p We don’t see them once they fall, but we don’t need to to know they’re alive. The reactions are lame in my opinion (and I discuss this shortly – the ones as he was falling were fine, but afterwards, I get everyone is in shock, but I don’t think it’s what it should have been). I think Yamato and Meiko will get a bit of time to open up more next movie due to how close they were to being in same boat.
After the dust settles, Hikari realises Taichi isn’t there. Oniichan doushite… Oniichan… Oniichan… Nobody can get close to her and the ‘distortion’ started. She wasn’t possessed or infected from my knowledge (and her eyes do the red glowy thing – kinda like homoe but less rainbow, more red/dark) (I don’t believe it was made clear what it was tho. It could be Yggdrasil influencing her in a moment of weakness, infection, whatever. This is how I see it). Earlier, it was mentioned that those who are the softest and most kind hearted are the easiest to break (Hackmon). Essentially it is the same as Tai going dark – she lost her light and kinda went blank. They really needed to show her breaking a little more instead of just going numb. If they didn’t show her darkness in the previews it would have been so much more effective. Even showing her Digivice cracking, being corrupted or something would have done something. Static noise. This scene wasn’t as good as it could have been.
Takeru tries to call out to her once but nada.
The darkness kind of left Hikari (and left her with a static barrier? So nobody could really get close to her) and it infected her partner (the darkness kind of swallows it??) and we got OFDM. Unfortunately no dark evolution sequence which would have been hella rad. OFDM and Mmon fuse – it doesn’t look like Mmon WANTS to (so it is NOT Jogress). (There was little to no reaction from Meiko – understandable. She almost died, her Digimon is causing terror and hurting people and almost hurt, how is she meant to feel???) OFDM darkness kinda sucks it up? The merge and it’s fucking terrifying.
If you’ve seen Evangelion, the angel that’s pinned to the cross underground?? THINK A GIANT WINGED TERRIFYING VERSION OF THAT IT’S NIGHTMARE FUEL Y’ALL
Big and white, creepy eyes (multiple, I remember them being black), massive butt (I’m sorry but it does), female. It’s creepy and gross and demonic. No hands or legs, like claw things.
So basically, Nmon is forced to evolve into OFDM (I don’t see Hikari’s darkness as attacking Nmon – it’s more like the darkness in Hikari can’t DO anything in Hikari, so it merges with her partner which is able to change forms (evolve) so it can let it’s rage be known – think of it as Hikari’s heart/emotions needing to let go of it’s anger and frustration but obvs, humans have limited ways of doing it, so by going to a creature which can fuck shit up, she can release her emotions better – idk if that’s the official explanation, but that’s how I saw it, especially as the humans and partners are meant to have such strong bonds it makes sense one influences the other, and it’d be a nice throwback to 01 Hikari when she used her inner light against the Numemon or whatever), it sucks Mmon into a portal (it’s darkness kind of leaks down to Mmon, smothers it, drags it up to the portal iirc) and the fusion comes down, Hikari tells it to fucking murder everything, and it goes back into the portal, to our world, and darkness starts to spread over the planet.
Yamato grabs Tai’s goggles and puts them on (!!!!!!!!!). (I cried. They’re my OTP of OTP’s) He basically tells everyone they have to get it together – he’s right. You may not like him as the leader, but someone needs to lead now. Who else will? Jyou who has spent half the series trying to balance two massive tasks? (I love him and would love to see him lead, but I don’t think Tri has really set him up to do that well – and Yamato has always been Taichi’s foil when it came to leadership) Koushirou, who already had a leader role after the reboot? Takeru, who’s focussed on the very numb and out of it Hikari? (Keep in mind Hikari fought homeo which is exhausting, she just lost her brother, she’s been running and fighting all day, her Digimon is now dark and fused with a Digimon that’s been bonkers from the almost start – from what I remember people were essentially helping her do everything, even stand up – it looks very PTSD to me.) Mimi, who’s crying? Meiko, who doesn’t really know anyone because Toei still forces the ‘no Meiko, you ARE our friend’ instead of her already being a friend/integrated group member (validating ur friends is cool – constantly going ‘we're friends’ tho kinda makes it look like they need convincing and it just doesn’t feel right). Sora? Maybe, yeah, I wouldn’t mind it, and tbh she deserves it since she had such a shit movie, but c’mon. We’re not looking at a perfect series and some of the moves made by Toei regarding Digimon as a whole lately have been bad (yes I’m looking at you Fes).
Yamato isn’t claiming to be the new leader or taking over. The WORLD is about to get destroyed by TWO OF THEIR OWN DIGIMON. They’ve essentially lost a mentor (Nishijima, two if you count Gennai) and TWO MEMBERS (Hikari is useless rn, Tai’s gone, three if you count Meiko without Mmon). They need to MOVE. Everyone’s in shock (I guess – I found their reactions pretty piss poor tbh) but he’s the one realising the urgency of the situation and doing something about it. Comparing his leaderships skills now to 01 Yamato’s is honestly stupid. You aren’t the same as you were a few years ago, so why hold that standard to him, especially when Tri (and the stage play) has often emphasised how time and situations make people change.
(In saying that, I’m looking forward to when he gives the goggles back!!! I don’t think there will be time for him to fuck up (though I wouldn’t say no to it), unless the movie is longer than any other. Also, this could well be a coping method for him too – keeping the goggles could mean that he’s ready to give them back, a way of keeping Taichi with them, that he doesn’t want to believe Taichi is gone and is waiting for him to show up aka a coping mechanism)
Koromon is looking down to where Taichi fell. He has such a small voice. “I couldn’t save him…”
It’s heart breaking. I don’t like that they don’t have their original memories, but this is so innocent and pure and the new relationships with their humans aren’t any less valid than the old ones. Yamato is encouraging in his own gruff way to him and leads the way back to everyone else.
Ai Kotoba is a beautiful song. Their voices match beautifully, the lyrics are wonderful and it fits the melancholy feel of the end. Please support them and buy a copy of the CD if you can. I’ll always love Wada-san’s works, but this is honestly a beautiful beautiful song and I’m so upset I can’t go to Miyazaki’s next concert (it’s highly speculated that AiM will be making a guest appearance).
Discussion/Ramblings (Some of this from the With the Will forum. People asked Jay some questions. I sat next to Jay during the movie. Afterwards the group I was with went to dinner – Jay was absent)
No 02 kids. But Gennai was doing a Ken every now and then? No reason for that, I guess he likes changing forms??
People are saying Taichi and Nishijima are dead which is fucking stupid. Tri hasn’t taken many major risks, they aren’t going to up and kill two characters, especially the main. C’mon y’all, really? There are no bodies. General rule = body means dead. No body = alive. They disappeared when the ground was cracking up – there’s plenty of hope. Nobody who saw the movie believes they’re dead.
Our group kinda talked about it and wonder if the 02 kids are in the DOcean or not, and also whether that’s where Taichi and Nishijima would go (02 maybe, not so much the other two).
However, we did think that Wizardmon could be coming back still. He isn’t a Digimon, and if he’s able to travel worlds/realms, if Tai/Nishi aren’t in the DOcean (no reason for them to be), but somewhere else, it’s possible we could see him. Plus, he could serve as a trigger to bring back Tailmon’s (everyones) memories/make her/Hikari come back to the light, especially if he brings the humans with him. I can’t remember the exact discussion, but it sounds more plausible than how I’m writing it lmao.
Attack names aren’t called out either for the most part. Evo scenes were merged, cut etc to cut down screen time, thank god. Taichi has a lot of screen time (more so than Hikari), and I like how they’re showing him becoming more of the diplomat the epilogue showed him to be. Whether the epilogue ends up being canon or not (I don’t care either way tbh), it shows a lot of growth and I enjoy and appreciate it.
DARK OCEAN DARK OCEAN DARK OCEAN
Some thoughts after our discussion: now that Meikuumon is known to be made of something similar to Apocalypmon, why (…I don’t know where I was going with this. I was typing at 2am after the movie after about four hours of discussion… went to bed without finishing the thought… maybe I’ll remember one day)
We’re curious as to what crest Meiko would have. Ken has one, so Meiko should definitely have one. With everyone else, we can kinda look at their actions through the context of their crests, but with Meiko, we have little to work with (no matter how I may sound, I don’t hate her – she is simply there for me. I WANT to like her, but I don’t have a lot of good reasons to…). Giving her a crest could help us understand/like her more, make her actions make more sense etc. I think it’s important for her as a member of the Adventure franchise tbh. The 02 kids had their attributes, so if she doesn’t get one, she’ll be left out in a bad way imo.
Some people seem to think Hikari and Meiko will get more focus in the next movie. Obvs to an extent they will since their partners are the Big Bad now (sure, people behind the scenes (Ygg, Homeo etc), but this is the immediate big bad). But this is the last movie – they can’t afford to spend too much time on these two unless it’s longer than usual. Don’t hold your breath for anything special. However, what can they do? They’ve lost their partner. They’re Chosen but have no partners. Where do they fit on the team? Interesting discussions could be had here.
The TaiMei moments are teasing and tbh, I don’t think either character likes the other in a romantic sense. I just think Toei was trying to be teasing but they failed. I haven’t seen anyone go “oh! Yes thanks I love it!”. Everyone was like “Thanks! I hate it!”. Why? Because it was done weirdly (mostly just by holding Meiko for an awkwardly long time) and it’s OOC on both ends. Meiko is constantly having everyone say ‘yea you’re our friend you’re in the group’ and then suddenly romance teasing? Doesn’t make sense.
Neither Hikari nor OFDM got the time they deserved. OFDM was in the movie for maybe a minute before fusing. I honestly feel bad for Hikari fans. This franchise (Tri) has been mostly Meiko. This was meant to be a movie about both of them (though Meiko honestly shouldn’t get one since they should have established her history etc well before now and she’s had ample screen time in every movie for that to happen with) and Meiko took over. Mmon also has the same issue. OFDM was placed on the poster, and yeah, it created hype, but unless we see more OFDM next movie, or the pure version, it’s honestly shit tbh.
I have a lot of hopes for the last movie, but I don’t have high expectations. Movie 4 is the worst in Tri imo, and 5 was maybe the 2nd or 3rd worse. Not good for this late in the franchise. I believe it will focus mainly on Taichi and Yamato (one needs to get back to the group, the other is de facto leader) and Meiko (because when isn’t Tri focused on her? Plus she lost her partner) and Hikari (many reasons). However, I believe Hikari may get shafted pretty quick a la Sora and once Yamato hands over the leadership again (which essentially means Tai shows up) theres no need to focus on him either. I do hope they punch each other tho. Is it really Adventure if they don’t hit each other??
I don’t think part six can answer all plot holes and questions, or give everyone ample and fair screen time and do well with the plot. I’m looking forward to it, but, I don’t think it can do everything I want it to or everything I need it too or everything it should do (tie up loose ends etc). All in all, enjoyable movie considering how everything has been set up, though it has it’s weird moments.

Belated Day 3 for Rock Lee Birthday Week 2017
@paintertainment - a couple of days late but here we go.
Our mission: When did you realize you adored him? Or even just liked him? What was your favorite moment of Lee’s even if he isn’t your ABSOLUTE favorite. Show us what you see Lee as through your eyes!
So here we go....
You know, this is something I occasionally think about because now it’s hard for me to remember the timeline when it came to my interest in one Rock Lee. But I’ll try. As one of his fans, he deserves my full attention.
I started watching anime for the first time last year, and naturally, I discovered Naruto.
Now here comes the “which came first - chicken or egg” situation. This was about the time Hulu started running ads about two new “exclusive” series. One was Sailor Moon Crystal, a reworking of the original Nineties series...and something I found a bit, well, I wasn’t sure what to think. I see this little character with black hair saying “The name of your foe is,” and he flies into the air, lands and announces, “Rock Lee!” And I see somebody in a tutu! People in spaceships? It’s called Rock Lee and His Ninja Pals. My reaction: “What?” But since it claimed to be a Naruto spin-off I figured I’d keep my eyes open.
Back to the original source material. The chunin exams arc is about to begin, and I see three figures in a wooded situation. The camera pans upward, I see this kid and my first thought was What an odd looking little boy. My introduction to Team Guy. Now remember at this point, all I knew was Team Kakashi, so the introduction of this new team took me by surprise and I wasn’t certain I liked it. After all, Naruto is the star, and Sasuke and Sakura are with him. How dare these upstarts try to worm their way in! And who did that ‘odd looking’ boy think he was by proclaiming to all the word that he wished to be Sakura’s boyfriend? Wait. Did he say his name was Rock Lee? Like ‘The name of your foe is Rock Lee’? Is this who they gave a spin-off show to? (Palm in hand).
Next stop: he challenges Sasuke and manages to beat the shit out of him. He is obviously taken with Sakura, and I confess my heart kind of broke for him when she reacted as she did (my feeling being ‘Oh come on! It’s not like he’s trying to hack you to death like Norman Bates! Good grief!’). I raised an eyebrow when Might Guy appeared and punched his student (Excuse me?), then apologized, leaving both of them to cry on one another while I sat there with my mouth open in shock. Who are these people? But right now, I’m only thinking, okay, interesting little minor character. Let’s get back to Naruto and the gang.
The squirrel did it. Or the squirrel started it. Remember Lee had sworn to catch all of the leaves (was it twenty?) and if so, it meant Sakura would become his girlfriend. He doesn’t accomplish what he set out to do, although he came very close, because it was at that moment he sees a paper bomb on an innocent squirrel, and because he’s ethical, moral and honorable, he rescues the animal and saves its’ life. The camera focuses on the forgotten leaves he never caught, but what struck me then was his selflessness in thinking of the life of a little animal and in that second, all thoughts of the girl he believed he loved were gone.
I’m impressed. Perhaps he’s not as odd as I thought. He kept impressing me - taking on the Sound Ninja, ripping a tree up by its’ roots. We’re just getting started.
So now we get to the meat of the matter. When did I know...Now that I remember…
One episode after another, after another, after another and I kept thinking ‘When’s he going to get his turn?’ because frankly, I’m kind of curious to see more of what this kid can do. He’s matched up against Gaara.
That did it. When he removed his leg weights and let them go - talk about friggin’ iconic. I was on the edge of my seat for the rest of that arc featuring him. I also emptied a box of Kleenex when I saw his backstory because I had no idea of what he had gone through, or how much this all meant to him. It tore me up when he wondered why he was the only one who was suffering. I was so proud when he ran away from the hospital to become part of the Retrieval Arc. That odd-looking little kid wasn’t quite so odd after all.
Those are the moments which made me a Lee fan. Whether it was the scenes he shared with Guy, Tenten, and Neji; the tiny things like saving the squirrel or taking a whiff of the flowers Sakura brought him. Whether it was watching his devotion, his integrity, the often silly little way he has in his mannerisms because he’s so enthusiastic. His manners, the way he never uses contractions. After a while, you start to find his dark eyes as enchanting as his smile. You see a certain innocence in him, but realize if he needs to, he’ll start opening Gates and piledrive your behind into the ground! You want the best for him because he’s the type that draws that emotion out of you.
I forgot to add: I started watching Ninja Pals almost immediately upon realizing how much I was liking Lee.
So as someone who has read more books than I can recall, and has watched even more movies, I love character studies, the things which make someone tick. Lee fascinates me. Each time I watch some episode I missed (because I have a load of catching up to do) and they delve a tad deeper into what makes him who he is, I can’t help thinking it takes a special character to do that to me. If he wasn’t so special, I wouldn’t have started writing a story with him as the lead protagonist - because sometimes you feel those secondary characters deserve more than they got in the main movie or the main TV series.
Anyway, that’s how I became a Rock Lee fan. It was nice to know there are others out there that felt the same. It’s funny how the life and world of someone who is imaginary can mean so much.

Personality Analysis : Park Chanyeol (EXO)
Tumblr media
A/N: I wanted to do something like this for a long time now, I’ve searched it and I couldn’t find a lot of in depth analysis of the members’ and well, I’ve been an EXO-L for a few years now so I feel confident enough to write some of my pov about the members individually. And these type of stuff helps a lot of new fans to understand them more and maybe change some opinions about some members.I’ll be writting indivudual profiles for all the original members.
Disclaimer: I am not a psychologist of any sorts and I have absolute no personal connection with the EXO members, so all displayed here it’s just a result of my observation and opinion. Long post ahead.
This will be divided in topics so it can be less messy.
First Impressions
In depth impressions
Development
Final thoughts
 1. First Impressions :
I’ve noticed watching several reactions, that when people watch EXO mvs for the first time, theyll think that Chanyeol is the ‘bad boy’ of the group, the one that must get in trouble all the time, and well, we know that’s not true , when I first met EXO, I was impressed by Chanyeol’s rap but I only really noticed him when I watched the 2013 Happy Camp episode , maybe it was the ears but I remember thinking ‘what a nice and funny guy’, at the time he was known as the ‘reaction king’ in EXO and he really lived up to his nickname, it was almost as a reflex (and he still does this in interviews, even if it’s in a minor scale) , he always nods or hums, just does anything to ‘react’ to what the other person is saying, I think this is partially due to how active he wants to look on camera and partially due to his own need of showing that he is indeed paying attention to the other party. Besides that, other aspects of his personality started to show, even if subtly, like his tendency of wanting to be one of the main features and the obvious playfulness. His basic public image is being one of the members that lift up the others’ moods and a jokester in general, the one who always has energy and a smile on his face.
Tumblr media
 2. In depth impressions :
There’s much more to talk about it on this topic, I actually only ‘figured out’ Chanyeol not so long ago, you can be easily fooled by the sunshine/happy virus image that he works so hard to show us all the time but there’s actually (and this is something I’ll probably talk about in every EXO member analysis) , there’s so much more behind it , one of the main points that really changed my view on him is the fact that he is actually very ‘moody’, the other members and himself have acknowledged this , that could possibly make him a more difficult person to live with on a daily basis so the secret is to have patience with him, since he’s very sensitive to criticism and you can see that he really values the public’s opinion AND the people’s around him opinions about him and his work in general, even if he gets shy about it, he generally shows that he is really proud of his own work and effort, a good example of this is when he was asked on a showcase about being the lead actor on ‘EXO next door’ (here: about minute 20:50).
I think that need for approval shows the most on him out of all the EXO members and honestly, a lot of people say he is a ‘show-off’ but that’s not the case, he has said on several occasions that he likes watching himself on screen and stuff like that (like here) , but generally he is just giving himself confidence so he can play his part more easily.
It is known that Chanyeol is a multitalented guy, he is safe to say the member that most produces (and writes) his own stuff along with Lay, and he is always seen with his equipment and posting stuff that he is working on, that said, I can 100% say that he loves what he does, he loves performing, either rapping, singing, acting, playing instruments or writing songs and it is where his heart mostly is, I’m aware that he listens to a wide variety of musical genres and he picks up on melodies really quick when it comes to playing a song.
This is related to how much of a hardworker this guy is, I still remember watching the behind the scenes to the growl MV ( I couldn’t find the link, sorry), where he was being told that his dancing wasn’t good enough so he tried his 110% for the following shooting day and got praised, he later on said he was worried that his dancing would look really bad on screen, another example are two of the MAMA performances, the 2014 and the 2015 one , on the 2014 one, you can clearly see here that he was almost fainting and vomiting but he kept going for the sake of the performance, specially since 2014 was a year that held a lot of pressure against EXO in general so they all had this will to prove themselves as a group, now in 2015, after they performed ‘drop that’ and Chanyeol was jumping like crazy in a big ass coat , you can see here that he was completely exhausted after the performance, that only shows his perseverance once again and that’s a factor about him that everyone should respect.
A really important Chanyeol trait too is the way he handles himself around fans and around the other members, it is safe to say that all EXO members have grown closer over the years and they have said that in the begining they used to argue quite a lot but nowadays they just know each other’s limits , I think Chanyeol always showed a close relationship with most members, from Kris till Kai, I guess he always thought about them as friends and not just work buddies, there have been several occasions where he helps the other members to answer awkward questions or change the mood of the interview, diverting the focus to him when another member is going through a hard time, besides, he’s always showing support to other members’ projects, he has posted photos congratulating them on the release of their music , has supported their movies and etc. He is also the member who ALWAYS posts photos on the other members’ birthday, either being screenshots of him trying to be the first to wish them a happy birthday, or just photos with said birthday member with a cute caption.
As for his relationship with fans, Chanyeol stans are really lucky , this boy is always wanting to do broadcasts for the fans, even if he’s not doing anything special on them and he even has his own yt channel now (he only uploaded one video but anyways hah), he shared his soundcloud account , where he posts covers and stuff he is working on + being active on IG, this only shows that he is willing to reach to fans , and in person he is almost always interacting with fans, if you observe him during concerts, he looks extremely grateful, during songs and ments, I honestly never saw a concert where it looked like he wasn’t having it or something, also let’s not forget he wrote his rap part on promise, a song written for fans by EXO (you can check the lyrics here) , he asks for the fans’ forgiveness and asks if he can spend forever with us.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
      3. Development :
As all the other members, we can see Chanyeol developing throughout the years and opening himself more for the public eye, getting out of that basic image we get on the first impression, there are a few  things I wanna highlight on this section of my analysis.
Let’s start with something he explained on the star show 360 episode with EXO, that it is that he is actually very ‘vulnerable’ to mood change, so he can easily adapt his behavior and actions in different enviroments to match other people, that to me shows again how he is a very social person who’s in need of company and reassurement , I’m relating this to how sweet he seems to be, putting your own emotions in display like that is not an easy task, he is willing to change in a matter of seconds so he can fit along other people, people who say he is selfish aren’t aware that even when he is having his bad days, he prefers not to tell other people so he won’t spoil the mood for them , as said here (starts minute 0:05), so basically he piles up his bad emotions to himself and keeps all the stress to himself, which could result on his mood changes that I’ve talked about on item 2.
Now I’ll adress a controversy, till this day people have been hating on Chanyeol because he is one of the members who most make jokes about Kai’s skin tone and stuff, I don’t have a lot to say about that other than the fact that I personally think him (or any other EXO member who jokes about it) don’t make these jokes to purposely hurt Kai’s feelings or anything of this sort,it is unfortunately a cultural thing in South Korea.
Chanyeol debuted in EXO when he was 20, now he is 24, so it is natural you can see him being more mature now but still keeping his personality essence within.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
     4. Final Thoughts:
Now for my final considerations, Park Chanyeol is throughtout an amazing guy. this man does anything for his group and for the fans, even when he is broken , he’ll still give his everything and hide all of his bad sides, whenever he makes the slightist mistake, he keeps going on and on about it because he can’t bare the possibility of screwing up , and no, he is not an attention seeker, he is just naturally bright, he is actually a very serious guy and people should respect him as such, he wants to develop professionally in all fields and always continue to make his own music and getting better at what he does, he is definetly someone who deserves all the fans he has and i’m proud of how we’ve gotten to know him more often during the years and he has came out of the superficial shelf created during rookie days.
He deserves so much love, I hope y’all rethink if you have something against him, honestly.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
A/N: I’m sorry if this sucks, don’t come after me please, I plan on doing this for the other members, but if you guys hate it, please tell me, I can’t help it but think I left some stuff out but still.... who is your choice for next one? If you wnat me to continue , of course, thanks if you’ve read till here <3 I also apologize for grammar errors
