Q: Does your Durge have a name? A: Nope! I named him "drow" when I played the game because I didn't feel like thinking up anything special. His lack of a name has become part of the character's lore and you will find him to always be tagged with "DU drow", or referred to as The Drow or just Drow.

Q: Where can I read your BG3 fan-fiction? And what is it about? A: Right here! The main plot follows DU Drow, Astarion, and Shadowheart on a new adventure that fractures into a couple of different directions, but mainly focuses on the aftermath of the spawn that Astarion has released and the personal development of the main cast, alongside a number of original characters that get involved in the narrative. My goal was to create a kind of "DLC" experience, so you can expect a lot of themes that parallel the main game.

Q: Can I draw one of your characters, a scene from your story, or any of your characters interacting with mine/other characters? And can it be NSFW in nature? A: YOU ABSOLUTELY CAN, AND I'LL BE DELIGHTED TO SEE IT IF YOU CARE TO SHARE. I'm equally fine with NSFW as long as everyone involved (in the art and otherwise) is an adult.

Q: What drawing software/tablet/brushes do you use? A: I draw on a Wacom Cintiq 22, using Clip Studio Pro. I switch around brushes quite often but most of what I use comes from the DAUB super-bundle by Paolo Limoncelli.

Q: Where can I find more of your work? Some of you who have been here a long time may remember me talking and attempting a The Witcher Fan Comic with the huge help of @stefanomaglianoart at the script, in which Dandelion is the main narrator of the stories we see.

We had to leave it behind for years to do work and other things always preventing us to properly get back to it, but we’re finally trying to give it another go and finish the prologue, at least!

new year new news

hey everyone! wow! 2022 is over! what a year! i made a lot of art, had some cool opportunities (painting a mural!!!) and some challenging transitions (quitting my job, switching academic programs!) but i think, overall, i’m glad to put this one in the rear view mirror. 

now, to get out of the rear view mirror and look forwards into the metaphorical windshield - my resolution this year is to MAKE MORE ART and to GET OUTSIDE OF MY COMFORT ZONE and with that in mind, my first actionable goal for 2023 was...

to start a patreon!

not gonna lie, i’ve been just as nervous as i’ve been busy setting this up the past few weeks (and the imposter syndrome has kicked in HARD), but hey, doing new things is always scary and awkward. and i really wanted a good excuse to put some time and energy into behind-the-scenes stories, progress shots, sketchbook pages that aren’t pretty enough to post on their own, and rambling talks about the winding path my own art tends to follow. so maybe check it out and throw some money my way, if you’ve got extra and are curious!

behind the scenes posts and videos! i have to admit that i harbor a secret love for video editing, but I have so far had no real outlet for it (aside from the AMVs that i occasionally make in a fugue state and NO i’m never showing them to a soul) - but i've just filmed and edited the first full start-to-finish process video for patreon! watch me make a ceramic beasty from sketch to glaze firing, with full voiceover commentary (my voice was once described by a child as “why do you sound like that? you sound like you’re going to cry” so look forward to that!) i have plans in the future for tutorial posts and videos, more process timelapses, and full behind the scenes zine-making retrospectives, from writing to illustrating to binding.

Monthly Update (April 2024)

Hello everyone, it's Chattercap!

I apologize for the slightly late April devlog, but I was in a bit of a daze after the MindMindMind release! Wow, March went by in a flash for me! Let's get down to it!

I released not one, but TWO games this month! (If you missed them, you can find the links in my pinned!)

Kanau

I spent the first part of the month programming and ironing out the Kanau release. I added mini CGs to my VN framework and also added the ability to rename your save files. After that, it was full steam ahead with actually implementing everything - all of the art, BGM, SFX, VA, and GUI, including updating the gallery. I also set up the itch page and put together some social media announcements. Since the content warnings were pretty stark with this one, I also added a trigger warning screen. After that, I had the game beta tested, and it was released by the 8th!

After that I…took a few days break, haha! (I should have gotten straight to work on MMM, but alas, I always enter some kind of trance right after a game release!)

MindMindMind

For the first part of the month, I was mainly scripting as I needed to get the script done for the VAs as quickly as possible. MMM was my QUICKEST script to date, as I finished 20k words in less than 10 days, wow! (I think that the relatively simplistic prose, with a heavy emphasis on dialogue, helped a lot.) During that time I also reviewed the MMM voice acting auditions and made my selections; in addition, I made the promo artwork and reached out to someone for background photos.

After I was out of my post Kanau-release trance, I immediately started work on the sprites! Kalei's sprite was easy to finish, although Geist's sprite took a bit of time (I kept messing up his face…). I also finished all of the backgrounds and then started work on the CGs; I managed to finish one CG per day! While I was doing that, I also cleaned and adjusted the VA samples. On the final week of the month, I animated all of the art and then basically did the same things for MMM that I did for Kanau - adding all of the art, sound, and GUI, making the itch page, updating the gallery. I also put together a walkthrough and implemented name and pronoun selection. I managed to get MMM ready for beta-testing by the 25th, and I spent the rest of the time prepping VA announcements and putting together the artbook! MMM was released on the 29th!

Other

With new game releases comes a myriad of little tasks! I submitted both Kanau and MMM to IMDB and updated my carrd, Tumblr, Twitter, and patreon. I also added MMM to Steam! (It's here! You can wishlist it if you want; I'll probably upload it there fairly soon.)

And then…after MindMindMind I entered my post-game release coma again. I think I did a few things (started sketching the Hanasu cover art and an updated art for Actala, started a commission for an updated Actala logo, and continued writing the Hanasu script, but I'll be honest I've been in a bit of a daze…)

I'm really blown away with the reception that MMM has received, and I'm happy that so many people have played and enjoyed it; I'll upload a postmortem sometime soon, haha!

What's on the docket for next month?

Amare Jam is going on this month, and I hope to finish The Deepwater Witch for it! There are only a few CGs (and some optional mini CGs) to do, so I think I can! In addition, I want to finish the Hanasu script this month. After TDW is finished, I'll be working on Actala - doing updated backgrounds, sprites, and CGs. I want to work on both a Hanasu release and an updated Actala demo for a summer-ish timeframe (whether I can get both done for Otome Jam remains to be seen…)

I'm always flabbergasted with how quickly the months go by...

Some family stuff happened in late April. It doesn't change too much of my plans, but expect some delays as I readjust to a new lifestyle. I'll be essentially living in a different state for a whole month, so I have to pack and get settled and all that fun stuff. I'll still be on vacation for the first week of May, but y'all shouldn't notice an interruption because I've queued stuff for the week.

Some other housekeeping! I added Ippon! to the "About" section of my Patreon page since I'll be updating the BL comic monthly now. I also adjusted some of the verbage in the membership tiers, specifically the Pineapple Slices tier -- clarified that patron's name will be added to game credits.

Also, we're gonna try something slightly different for the Cover Model Polls this month. Previously I had the polls up for ~3 days on my social media. I'm changing that duration to just one day. The following day, Saturday, Cover Theme polls for patrons will open.

Next Month

I hope everything will be back to normal or to at least have a new status quo in June as I plan to return to my home state by then. In any case, I want to thank friends and family for their support, understanding, prayers, and well wishes. We really appreciate it!

As per how everything's going, well! I uploaded already 28 more page sketches on my patreon, and from those 28, I have been uploading the full-finished pages to my patreon (and to my brand new Deviantart Subscription-only thingie, woo!) Once I have finished those 28 pages I'll start uploading them slowly as I work on more. What matters is, at least in sketch, the Waterfall arc is finished! Very excited to show you guys!

On other matters, my twitch is open again! I'll be streaming games and page-drawing time, so don't be shy to come by! Open on Sundays, Mondays and Tuesdays! (Since I work the other days of the week....) I'm actually writing this post days in advance. We're about to go on holiday so I'm trying to queue up as much as possible for you guys. What is next?

Accepted into SSF06!

Hello everybody! I hope that this is a good time to autopost in America… I was recently accepted into Shiny Star Festiv@l, held in Tokyo (SSF06)! It will be my first convention, so I'm very excited, but I'm also very nervous. Thank you for accepting me!

Wow! Seeing my name on a list of participants for a convention is quite a heart-pounder (Is that correct?). If you would like more information, I have embedded the site in the image, so you should be able to click on the image to go to the event page's list of participants or view more info.

I will be drawing a yuri book of Tanaka Mamimi and Shirase Sakuya! This work will be an adult book, which would include nudity and adult intimacy. In addition, I will also likely be creating acrylic charms, stickers, and prints to sell at the event.

In addition, I am planning to release this book in English, depending on interest. I will likely gauge for interest again once it is completed, but feel free to let me know if you're interested in purchasing either a physical copy or a digital copy of the book. The digital copy would likely include commentary, sketches, processes, and various artworks relating to the convention (full-resolution art of any stickers, charms, or prints).

To continue the previous point, I am thinking about using pixivFANBOX and Patreon in the future. First and foremost, I would absolutely never permanently lock content behind a paywall, meaning that anything on those sites will eventually release to the public in some way, shape, or form. Secondly, both sites will have the same content, so that if one site is more convenient for you to use, then you may use whichever site you prefer. It will be in both Japanese and English, so please do not worry. This is just a way of supporting me if you would like to.

Currently, I am posting WIPs to Twitter Circles and to this blog when I remember to. A majority of the work I draw is relegated to only my sketchbook, or personal Discord servers with just my friends. I apologize if it seems as if I disappear. I will again, try to post more often. I think the hardest thing is that I often draw, take photos, and experience so much that it's hard to write it all down. Because of this, it gets a bit scary to try to write and post everything all at once on the blog. A lot has happened since the last post, but it's a bit hard to get all my thoughts together if I don't post regularly.

Finally, thank you for reading everything. I have tried to bold things to make it easier to skim, as I know these posts get quite long. Some people like long and detailed posts though, I've heard. I will try to quickly send another post when I wake up regarding Twitter and art. I've created a poll below regarding support sites, so please check it out when you have a chance. Without trying to spoil too much, I have finished all of the sketches of the separate gyaru comic. I actually drew this because I was sad and didn't think that I would be accepted into the convention, so it was to cheer myself up. Looks like I made it into the convention anyways- oh well. Looks like I will draw two comics.
