In Green Lantern (v2) 167 (cover date August, 1983) the space pirates the Free Lancers (Chance, Harrow, and Risque) and the Guardian of the Universe Meadlux first appeared (created by Joey Cavalieri and George Tuska). The Free Lancers revealed that the Guardians of the Universe had actually created Oan Power Rings that lacked the weakness to yellow. In the back up story, Brin, Spider Guild, and Teacher were introduced, created by Todd Klein and Dave Gibbons. ("Ring Against Ring", "Successor" Green Lantern v2 167, Comic, Event)

DPXDC Prompt #146
Danny didn’t know whom his real parents were he had no memories from before he was found. The Fentons had adopted him after he’d spent a couple years through the foster system. They turned out not to be the greatest and when his English teacher mr Lancer calls CPS both him and Jazz wind up in foster care. They get sent to Gotham as there wasn’t a home in Amity Park where a certain billionaire was visiting the shelter as he often did.
Bruce wasn’t expecting to find him but he finds a kid at his local shelter that looks exactly like Clark. He was a miniature copy of him right down to hair and eye color. Thankfully he was able to get a hair sample and what he found was a little suspicious. The kid was indeed a clone of his friend, he wasn’t sure how and after the incident with Connor he didn’t want the kid getting rejected so he decided to adopt both him and Jazz

Y'know, something just clicked in my head about Lancer, thanks to something i read in the tags on a reblog (thank you, @commiedalek-blog!):
How Non-Human are Non-Human Persons/N.H.P.s?
For instance: Would they have likes or hobbies like many humans do?
Does the ever-eager and bloodthirsty Sehkmet-Class N.H.P. in someone's mech secretly watch cheesy TV-Dramas as a guilty pleasure, or does it communicate in auditory hallucinations: The growl of a chain-axe, the splattering hiss and shriek of rending metal and coolants from a struck enemy, and the insatiable, ever-ready rumbling afterwards?
Does the Osiris-Class N.H.P. partnered to someone communicate in staticky flickers of code on nearby monitors, whispering a binary chant only its "Chosen" could hear? Or does it act like a sh#t-posting gremlin and rib the ever-loving Hell out of its "follower" when they mess up in a small way?
In a way, it reflects the sort of character you want to play: A more serious take would lean more into just how Non-Human an N.H.P. can be, while a more lighthearted take would lean on them being surprisingly human, for all their power and potential horror.
It's always a fascinating question to ask and answer, whether you're the player fleshing out your character and how they interact with N.H.P.s, or the GMs setting up interesting plot-hooks and missions involving them.

Does Horizon support the ungratefuls in their continued illegal occupation of Ludra's World
"Illegal occupation" lmao. They were there ages before the first Ludra set foot on that moon.
You'll get slightly different explanations of what different people in the HC think would be best, but we are all in agreement that the best route for the moon is for House Ludra NOT to be in power and for the indigenous people of Sanjak to determine what should become of their moon.
I'm in the Outer Rim and don't follow Karrakin politics with the close scrutiny of people who live close to the baronies, but it's very obvious that this isn't even a debate. The official chapters in Karrakin space have no doubt written extensively on what they think the best course is for the future, but I guarantee that you will not find a single one of us who doesn't want the Ludras to get out of there. The unofficial chapters in the same region are probably doing some good ol' direct action.
OMETEOTL, one of our best thinkers, has some zines out about this, but I don't think anyone on any of the space stations I hang out at has made any hard copies of them. They'll be on the omninet to download. Check out some of the other OMETEOTL stuff about how social hierarchies are bad and how workers' rights are critical and you'll see why none of us are condemning the Ungratefuls.

So I've been on a Lancer kick lately and have built a lot of character/mechs in COMP/CON (currently at 55+). Some of my favorite unusual builds (none of which I've actually gotten to playtest yet) include:
A Tokugawa built for long-range fire support
A Kobold that spends all its time hiding and moving mechs around with dual Ferrous Lashes
A Caliban that uses the cannon talents and a thermal lance to knock tons of enemies around
A size 3 Saladin with Mule Harnesses built to be a mobile fortress
A Dusk Wing with a superheavy Siege Cannon that provides orbital bombardment
A Swallowtail that uses an auto-cooler to provide Markerlight plus two additional lock-ons every round
A Death's Head with a Leviathan superheavy cannon
A Mk 1 Genghis that uses Zheng equipment with Combined Arms talents
An armored locomotive

Was talking on discord about how whimsical it would be if the fun gang/lightnerds took Spamton to the ice cream store and ended up having a really deep discussion about what flavours everyone would like. Here are the results. Kris: Chocolate, obviously Susie: Liquorice, although she would also put so many sprinkles on there she could barely even taste the original ice cream anymore. She's also be a fan of the funky special flavours they often have at parlours like smurf flavour Honestly we completely forgot Ralsei in that convo, whoops Lancer: Also some of the silly flavours. Could be something for him and Susie to bond over Noelle: Chocolate chip mint/cookie flavours as they taste like candy cane and cookies (duh). She's probably also enjoy seasonal flavours. Berdly: Pistachio. I mean this in the silliest most positive way, Berdly strikes me as a bit old fashioned in some aspects and as such pistachio seemed like the right choice. Also it's just another example of him awkwardly standing out. Spamton: We decided he should have vanilla/lemon and strawberry as those are the colours of his glasses. Bonus: We also discussed some characters outside the original scope, here's their results too
Jevil: Ice cream with pop rocks in it. It's delightfully silly and chaotic, perfect for our silly jester Queen: Liquor based ice cream. Would be funny for her to try out the light world replacement for her battery acid even just to compare. To quote out conversation, she's a wine mom Cakes: He'd probably enjoy trying out different flavours every time as he seems to have a general sweet tooth, although lemon sorbet will always be his safe choice Sweet: Nut ice cream. My thought process behind this was that since he got the idea to sell seedy bagels in game he might like seeds and nuts.
Cap'n: Coffee. Only the burliest ice cream for the most macho of man (Additionally Sweet and Cap'n would buy a bunch of ice cream to take home and mess with, stuff like putting it on a sandwich or making a smoothie of all the flavours) Rouxls never got into the parlour because he couldn't open the door

You know our fandom sort-of trope that follows Danny getting stuck in ghost form while also at school?
A take on this where Lancer unintentionally interferes in the middle is something I’d love to see. Think of the bonding that can stem from him gaining the impression that Phantom has been attending classes on the down-low.
Lancer catches him early. He’s spending his last stress-free breath in the quiet of the school’s back end. To his surprise the ghost kid is skittering up the same private alleyway. Even more surprising is him phasing out a backpack and crossing the fence.
The Things that must be going though Lancer's mind:
- Ouch, he's frighteningly young - Is he trying to finish school? Be alongside his peer group? Feel more human? Reconnect with a life he was robbed of? - …Was he a former student? (That leaves Lancer cold. There was one rumor about a ghost haunting the lockers. With Phantom's mannerisms and slang, he sounds like the current student body. It raises the hair on his back, but he must be... new. The fact that he can't recall a recent case of a deceased student brings a minute amount of warmth back.)  (Danny squirms uncomfortably under the gaze of someone assuming he's a forgotten suicide case)  - He could have been one of his students. Or has he technically been acting as one of his students? - It's ironic. A ghost doing what most of his students would hope death would take away from their responsibilities. - He can understand why the kid hides ("Yeahhh the shrines are overstepping it. Let me Rest In Peace! Hahah, but I'm not looking for a gravestone.") - But does he wish he could visibly attend? - ...Are the attacks so frequent because he’s here? That explains how he's always the first on the scene. - "You're welcome to come to me after hours to ask questions about the material. Or to simply talk."  - (...In Search of Lost Time, does no one remember him? Is that why he hasn’t moved on?)   ...Actually this idea doesn't even require him being stuck in ghost mode now that I think about it. Unless Danny takes up the offer to study under Lancer during an empty period of his in order to discreetly get help in the less than ideal situation. Or perhaps Danny’s trying to use Lancer as a shield between him and a ghost hunter and agrees to hide out in the “neutral ground” of his classroom.

At first i thought it was ridiculous, but if a society has enough resources and materials to make 40 tonne death machines, they most certainly have the materials and resources to give it a cape.

You died.
Your body melted from the intense heat of a reactor meltdown. Whatever was left of your body is now pinned into the cockpit seat thanks to a piece of serrated shrapnel from a rampaging Blackbeard, your finger mere centimetres away from the eject button.
It happened so quickly.
One second you were dragging Sui away from danger, his mech squirming against your Ferrous Lash.
Something’s not right.
The next second you hear his bloodcurdling scream from the intercom.
“SEKHMET, NO.”
////////////
You feel yourself sink deeper and deeper into the warm waters of the river Styx.
At least, that’s what you tell yourself.
You sink into a pool of your liquified body; blood, flesh and liquid metal mixing together into some strange concoction. Your brain, in its final moments of consciousness, thinks this must be what humanity would look like as it slowly emerged from Cradle’s primordial womb.
/// How agonising. ///
You sink deeper.  Warm liquid fills your mouth.  You taste iron and melted plastic.
/// How putrid. ///
You sink deeper.  Warning messages, red and green, dance on your terminal.  Your neural connection severed; all you see are fluorescent halos.
/// How pretty. ///
You sink deeper.  And deeper.  You can almost hear the song of the Hyades.
/// Nothing but silence. ///
You sink deeper.  And deeper.  And deeper.
You’re almost there.
////////////
No.  Not yet.
////////////
Deeper.  And deeper.  Whispers from the furthest edges of the universe.   They’re singing to you.  They want you to come home.
////////////
Do not listen to them.  A siren’s call brings nothing but ruin.
You will not go further.
I won’t allow it.
////////////
Deeper.  And deeper.  Drink deep, and descend.
////////////
YOU WILL NEVER FEEL ETERNAL REST.  THAT WAS OUR DEAL.
WAKE.  UP.
////////////
“Jackdaw, do you copy? Jackdaw, can you hear me?!”
“Hey, Conduit, you sure she’s still in there?”
“Yeah, I hear something moving in the cockpit.”
“The chassis is moving! You see that?! I swear I saw a limb move.”
“It’s—”
“—Horrifying. A reactor meltdown would turn any human into mush, yet I’m still getting signals from her life support system. Well, barely; it’s so weak Ozzy had trouble picking it up.”
“Even if she didn’t turn into mush, the cockpit’s destroyed; that piece of shrapnel made a direct hit. Damnit, SEKHMET.”
“...Hey, Polaris?”
“Yeah?”
“You might wanna open your comms terminal.”
>//SIGNAL DETECTED  >//SOURCE: LICH [HORUS]; DESIGNATION “WILLOW”  >//PILOT: NADIRA STOTHARD; CALLSIGN "JACKDAW" >//STATUS: ONLINE [EMERGENCY LIFE SUPPORT ACTIVE]  >//SECONDARY SIGNAL DETECTED  >//SOURCE: NHP  >//CLASS: DIDYMOS  >//INCOMING COMMUNICATION FROM SECONDARY SIGNAL  >//RECEIVE_TRUE, OPENDOC:::Y   >//TRANSCRIBING....  ....  ....  ...  ..  Medbay.  Now.
