Modern technology/works/understanding/etc. I'd like to give "Endeavour" characters...

Morse: noise-cancelling headphones, an mp3 player with a huge amount of opera on it, non-alcoholic real ales (St Peter's Without, the alcohol-free Doom Bar, etc.), a subscription to medici.tv, awareness of Joyce DiDonato's voice. Shadi Bartsch's translation of The Aeneid. Awareness of ADHD and autism as Relevant To Him and some suitable online community. Also some therapy but that goes without saying...

Fred Thursday: Fred. <3 awareness of PTSD and C-PTSD as A Thing and both being relevant in his case (from the war & work and his childhood respectively) even more therapy than Morse needs. All those youtube channels with 24/7 livestreams of various wildlife. The complete works of Terry Pratchett. I'm almost tempted to say fandom spaces because the gentler of them might actually appeal to him a lot.

Max Debryn: more recent medical knowledge. Modern queer community including the more awesome online bits. The work of recently rediscovered composers such as Barbara Strozzi and Joseph Bologne. Possibly Carol Ann Duffy's poetry. Elly Griffiths' "Ruth Galloway" novels if he fancies a busman's holiday read. ;-) Other than that I think he has more to teach us than the other way around. :-)

Peter Jakes: see Fred re: PTSD and C-PTSD awareness and a huge amount of therapy. I'm tempted to add at least the option of more recent help with giving up smoking given a lot more is understood these days. A Netflix subscription and an excellent gaming system. Instant messenger things so he can keep in touch with Oxford friends while in the US.

Joan Thursday: an environment in which it's more usual for women to not give up their jobs on marriage (or not get married at all). A lot of more recent folk rock, singer-songwriter, pop, and indie music might hit the spot for her to add to what she already loves. Yet more therapy. An awesome community of intersectional feminists. The complete works of bell hooks.

Win Thursday: oh Win. Therapy, the Open University. Really good couples therapy with Fred because they clearly love each other so much but *boy* do they fuck up towards each other (mostly him, but not only him). Instant messenger for better keeping in touch with everyone. An air fryer.

Sam Thursday: more therapy, and addiction help. Anger management help. Oh bless him. <3

Reginald Bright: grief counselling, instant messenger, Abir Mukherjee's detective novels, online ordering of Indian groceries, places online to put his art and get it fully admired, and then instant messenger once he moves back to India.

Jim Strange: honestly? he's the only one who seems to weirdly thrive in the time he lives. But I *would* like to throw intersectional feminist, LGBT+ and anti-racism literature at him to help avoid his less admirable moments. And actually some online community (fandom even?) so he has more people to bond with that aren't at the Lodge or at work...

Hi hi! I just binge read your “life is (not) a hallmark movie” fic and god it was so good and is the only fic that has ever inspired me to actually want to do a podfic cold read! (So far, I’ve only ever posted edited podfics because I’m so self conscious).

I saw on your profile podfics are welcome but wanted to confirm would you be open to me cross posting to Spotify? I post all my podfics on ao3 but also cross post to Spotify for accessibility (along with mp3 links to Google drive if people can access either platforms).

I do want to assure that I don’t run ads on Spotify and never will, and none of my podfics are paywalled; I always credit and link to the author, the artist (if I commission one for story art), and include the story tags, summary, and direct links to the fic in the show notes (as well as on Twitter whenever I post an update).

Thanks for the several songs tagging during the summer @mctna2019 @rhaenys-queenofkhyrulzz and @pashminabitch :) (and so I'm sort of replying to all of you at once?)

I'm generally more into soundtrack/classics than songs and I don't really use spotify but make my own MP3 playlists for in the car (i'm so old), so instead of the usual spotify shuffle i'm giving you the top 5 instrumentals I listen the most to lately? -Time of JungHyuk for Seri (CLOY OST / Nam Hye Seung, Park Sang Hee) -River Flower / Garden of God / The Warrior / Kingdom / Sword of the stranger / Lost Castle / My Country / Battlefield, selfmade mix with my favourites cut bits (i prefer listening to the whole titles whenever I can, but without the quiet parts you can't really hear above the engine/traffic noises is just better suited and safer when driving without having to fumble with the volume all the time) (MCTNA OST, Rain Wolff - and then choose the tracks) -The Day and My Love and… (TKEM OST 1 2 / Lee Geon Yeong, Gaemi) -Moonlight Sonata I & III (Beethoven) -No Time for Caution aka Epic Docking Scene (Interstellar OST, Hans Zimmer)

But if you actually want to know about actual SONGS, I'd go with those 'character meta-ish' songs in my MCTNA folder (which is the one I currently listen the most to, so...) -Shake it out, Florence & The Machine -Nothing, The Vassar Devils - thanks to that perfect @nubreed73 MCTNA vid -Dynasty, MIIA (MCTNA vids https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e-inZf-p1dE and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fozuKNpv8sc) -Train Wreck, James Arthur (MCTNA vid) -Believer, Imagine Dragons (MCTNA vid) (And special mention for the crackiest yet meta-ish crack vid I always come back to whenever I need a laugh (even though I cry at the end), even if I do not listen to the song in the car - again and forever, thank you so much for this golden one, always @nubreed73 :))

But to be honest again the actual SONGS i might have heard the most lately are those from our family Eurovision best of folder my kids didn't stopped asking for on repeat on our drive back home from holidays :) -Alessandra - Norway - Queen of Kings 2023 (btw we voted for Lureen this year (because she was in our opinion the best singer (there is POWER in her voice, okay) - tumblr, don't hate us, please), but this one was a huge favorite song too. third (and atypical winner of the year in our hearts indeed) was Finland Käärijä - Cha Cha Cha) -The Roop - On Fire - Lithuania 2020 -Italy - Mahmood - Soldi 2019 -Alexander Rybak - Fairytale - Norway 2009 (still such an iconic catchy tune) -Iceland - Hatari - Hatrið mun sigra 2019 (each year we give a special award out of our own - 'atypical winner of the year') (PS: any european pretending not to enjoy eurovision is a liar who lies :) (or not - anyone is free to like it or not of course i'm just joking, but in my family it is actually a year milestone tradition: that's how i grew up and that's what i passed on to my kids : gather all in front of the tv with snacks, and someone keeps the votes of everyone on a chart song by song:))

Anyway, here is a complete text translation of the Christmas track from Drama CD Vol.2! (This CD was released in December , so it has both Christmas and New Years' tracks)

STORY

[Santa seems to be voiced by Lemres’ and Akuma’s voice actor, Takumi Yamazaki]

Santa: HO-ho-ho-ho! Tomorrow it will finally be Christmas Eve once again. The day when all the adorable children who have been so nice all year get special presents as a reward for their good behavior from me! Now, let’s see what presents this year’s children are wishing for from me, the one and only Santa Claus… Shall we open their letters? Well, let’s take a look…

SFX: *paper rustling*

Santa: I want a hat that is…

Lidelle’s Voice: …big enough so that, um… well… so that even I can wear it, please! If that’s possible, I mean.

Santa: Oh-HO! How cute! Ho-ho-ho! There is nothing nicer than hearing of the pure wishes of innocent children, wouldn’t you agree? Now, for the next one…

Raffina’s Voice: Precious Metals!

Santa: Huh? Um… uh… Ahaha, what a straightforward wish!

Raffina’s Voice: I desire the sorts with the highest feasibly possible market value! I am not quite aware what the upper limit for the monetary value of a present requested at this kind of occasion is, however, I believe it should be sufficient if you kindly packed in exactly as much as the maximum appropriate.

Santa: T-That’s…! Ah… Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear… H-How nice of her to worry about the status of my wallet. Hohoho! …Ahahahah… A-a very kind girl…I-I’m sure… L-let’s put this letter aside for now… Ahem, now, for the next one…

SFX: *paper rustling*

Feli’s Voice: I wish for a new doll.

Santa: Oho! What a very adorable wish! Aha… What a relief… Alright, what else, what else? What kind of doll might the little girl want…?

Feli’s Voice: The last doll I used as a scape doll was unable to withstand the force of the curses I used it to cast and • Fell • To • Dust in the energy hole of the space distortion created.

Santa: *shrieks of terror* S-Somehow this letter is making me shudder far more than expected…!

Feli’s Voice: This time I want for a doll that will be powerful enough to withstand a Whole • Three • Months of my unbridled sentiments unscathed…!

Santa: W-WHAT IS SHE GOING TO USE THAT DOLL FOR…?! …Ho…ho… *shrieking Ho* …Hoho! I can tell this girl is very dedicated to her craft, yes, yes! …Yes… Um… N-Now, for the next letter…

Sig’s Voice: Tissues.

Santa: H-Huh…? That’s all? …Oh my, oh my! I am sure this child has very good reasons for making this wish, very important reasons, even…

Sig’s Voice: I ran out.

Santa: THAT’S ALL!? How outrageously lazy! If you need tissues, go to the store, child!

Sig’s Voice: Too much work.

Santa: And that’s why you’re wasting your Christmas wish on this!? You only get one of those a year! …Oh my, oh my… HO-ho-ho-ho! This must be a very modest, humble child…! Ah, let’s put this aside for now… The next one is…

Klug’s Voice: I wish for a spellbook that has the GREATEST instructions to teach me to cast the MIGHTIEST of all spells!

Santa: Oh my! What a studious child! Very nice. …Though, that all aside… The ‘mightiest’ spell, he says? What could he possibly mean by that…?

Klug’s Voice: Here is an example of the sort of spells the book may teach: The ETERNAL SUPER DARK MAX FORCE AURA BURNING LEMRES SPECIAL!!

Santa: Um… huh… uh… How do I put it… This child certainly has dreams?

Klug’s Voice: Casting this spell would cause the darkness around me to swirl around my body and coalesce into flames! No, wait, maybe it’d look cooler if the darkness took the shape of a dragon…? And then I would shoot them out to badassly ascend into the heavens…! And I would gaze upon that sight with clear eyes and breathe out a gasp of awe…! So cooooool…!!

Santa: Oh dear, oh dear… That’s all very nicely produced, but I really do wish he’d written what exactly the spell’s effect is supposed to be…

Klug’s Voice: And then Raffina and Feli get lost.

Santa: IS THAT THE EFFECT?!

Klug’ Voice: That Raffina is such a brute! Whenever anything bothers her, her first idea is to resort to kicking it! Isn’t that just barbarous?

Santa: Why is he suddenly airing his personal grievances to me…? Oh my, oh my, oh my… This is certainly a very imaginative child with a very rich, emotional world…! Um… Ho-Ho-HO-HO! Eheheh… Now, now… I-I-I w-wonder what the n-next one will be like…!

Rei’s Voice: My living memories.

Santa: THIS GOT DARK FAST!

Rei’s Voice: I think… I saw something when I was still alive… But… I can’t remember what it was…

Santa: *terrified shrieking* …I-I can’t b-bring something so d-depressing for a Christmas p-present! P-Please give me a b-break…! Ohoho…

Yu’s Voice: So, so! My turn…

Santa: Huh? Is it just me, or does this handwriting look a lot more cheery than the one before…? Let’s see…

Yu’s Voice: I want the souls of the departed still unwilling to de-part with their lust for life! Yay! Please and thanks!

Santa: *incoherent shrieking* NONONO! I didn’t see that! I’ll just pretend I didn’t see that… OH-HOHOHO!

[His laughter sounds like he’s half-crying at this point.]

Santa: Um, well… Who is our next NICE child…?! *crying* Now, what do you want…?

Amitie’s Voice: Hello, Santa! I did my best to be good aaaall year, so will you please, please listen to my wish?

Santa: *relieved laughter* Ah… Ahaha! Ah, finally someone who knows how to write a REAL letter to Santa… Now, THAT’S what nice children should be like!

Amitie’s Voice: Say, Santa. You usually come in the middle of the night to leave your presents in secret, right? So, if I open up a window on the second floor of our school for you, would you please come through there for me?

Santa: Hm? Why might she want me to do that? …Ah! Ahahah! I see! She probably wants to meet me. HO-ho-ho! Aw, I am sorry, all you children. Santa Claus is not allowed to show himself to you…

Amitie’s Voice: ‘Cuz, you see! There was a vase on that windowsill on the second floor. I accidentally broke it today! It was Ms. Accord’s favorite, soooo, let’s just pretend YOU did it, Santa!

Santa: …What?

Amitie’s Voice: Please apologize to Ms. Accord for me! PLEASEPLEASEPLEASE!

"Timeless Psychoactive Music for Ambient Music Lovers"

In early August 2023, I was having a hard time navigating the Threshold Of Boredom (cf. Sleazy Peter Christopherson). Most of my contacts were on holidays and I was feeling lonelier than ever. Having too much (?) time on my hands and having just been acquainted with Bull Of Heaven (check them!), I decided to tackle my pathological impatience and gardening disability by creating a sound piece lasting as long as possible (within my possibilities); it ended up as SEED IN PROGRESS, 20 hours long. I invested, digested and regurgitated a good deal of my released and unreleased music into it, acquiring a small crumb of patience by every sound effect taking, literally, 40 hours to complete, during which I had to go on with the “rest of my life” and wait. When I made SEED IN PROGRESS available, Orestes kindly offered to rework it into something else, with numerological wisdom, condensing the original 20 hours into 3 hours, 33 minutes, 33 seconds. Here we are. Here it is. Here we is.

(The original 20-hours SEED IN PROGRESS is freely available from [email protected]. It is very different from this, with much more silence and much less activity, for which i am so grateful to Orestes. All Hail The Necrophile Hummingbirds In Our Souls.)

So these words by HOMO tell all about it, I just answered to the amazing sound piece HOMO did (be sure to check it!), I could add that the essence of creation is that chat through time and space between dreamers, like a being split in so many parts trying to understand what happens. But is it really necessary not to keep silent this, when You can dream of the future ?

In the early morning hours is where I find solace and comfort and where Spirit seems to chat at a more audible level especially when I am working on the prayer list of My Daily Prayer subscribers. And it was no surprise this week when it seemed like all events fell into place. And as my sweet mother used to say, “Everything’s coming up roses.” Sandy and I grabbed some lunch in hopes of recapping the year passed and discussing the year ahead. When we pulled into the restaurant parking area there was only one spot left and it was the first one! (meant for us). We had an awesome sparkly waitress who at the end of the meal asked us if we were frequent dining points members and yes we have the rewards card but haven’t eaten at this place in over 6 months. Riley was kind enough to check our points in the back and returned with more good news that our meals would be 100% free with redeemed points! We looked at each other puzzled as to how? what? Then we smiled because we both knew how, and kindly thanked Spirit for the fun. Of course we then HAD to leave her a giant tip to pay it forward.
