Hi! I love your writing. Can you write something about 'Last of his Kin' trope?
I have another ask along this line...working on writing something up for today...
But all my brain rot is giving me is:
youtube
I'm just not sure it's possible for me to write anything better. I've had to restart three times because my brain just keeps diverting to well it's not the phone call is it.
rewatching star wars (ep iv) and like. it's so fascinating bc it really is simultaneously so campy and cobbled-together but also so effectively evocative nonetheless???
like. luke is so whiny!! but also we talked recently about that extraordinary vignette of him climbing up, that first evening, to stand silhouetted against the bicolored sky with its two moons, and the swell of the horn climbing with him… and the lightsaber really is such a compelling concept. like it's so simple but when it first snaps out into being, there in obi-wan's little home, it's just like. a sense of wonder suddenly summoned into the room. the world suddenly just feels a little bigger and more magical than you knew it could before. like it's just. right.
anyway. i'm not telling you anything new but. probably this is how people feel about star trek who watched that when they were kids. like. silly and campy and people sure do flop around implausibly but. the bones and the heart are there. and they're good actually. 💙
The “old person” poll on topic of formative kids’ shows STILL was not as old as I am, so for your elderly pleasure I present: which kids show was the most formative for you (of these options?)
what have i become, my sweetest friend? (24, jack bauer/nina myers)

Bustling bodies, the clacking of keys. Short, mellow ringtones sing out every few moments. Stale air, open concept. No cover. Jack’s new office overlooks it all through glass walls.
A woman approaches. Young, short dark hair. Her face looks kind but she doesn’t smile as she shakes Walsh’s hand.
She turns to Jack. “You must be Agent Bauer,” she says, and offers her hand to him as well. Cool skin, firm grip. This time, she smiles. “Welcome to CTU. My name is Nina Myers.”
