What if my "Vanessa Afton is a role-reversed Charlotte Emily" movie theory carries over to the games. What if they're parallels in sb.

Someone DID mention the possibility of both Vanessa's paralleling Charlie-bot (both Baby and actual Charlie) in the Trilogy. And the fnaf movie's plot is very similar to 'The Silver Eyes'.

Matpat is so right (about the community)

(this is just a rant from someone who's been in the fandom since 2014, no ill will towards anyone)

Especially the book part, I don't know when or how such a big part of the community got it into their head that any of the books were canon to the games and lashing out at people who disagree, when it clearly states on the books themselves that they are just short stories in-universe, never saying it's part of the game canon.

Even Scott himself has said the books were there to help us understand aspects of the lore and that they aren't canon. This applies to all of them, not just the trilogy.

Taking the short stories themselves at face value loses so much of it's nuance and what makes them enjoyable in the first place. There are so many great parallels for the in game characters and concepts that add depth to the games or explain things that we may have missed or misinterpreted, straight up putting the stories in-game would make no sense.

I think a lot of this comes from people taking things too literally when FNAF has always been more abstract. If they were canon it would also needlessly convolute things so much more, the simple answer is often the correct one, in Mr. Hippo's words "Sometimes, a story is just a story."

If I had to guess why some people don't like the movie, it's because it is obviously based off of the Silver eyes. The people who've only stuck around for the games probably wouldn't understand why things are the way they are. The movie has the same problem as the silver eyes trilogy, some people like it, some people just don't. I personally absolutely love the trilogy books and really enjoyed reading them. They are probably my favourite books ever written. I think it just comes down to opinion.

Also the whole Mike chasing and trying to find Garret ( is that how you spell it?? ) is definitely reflecting how Charlie throughout the novels tries to find Sammy. She can ' feel ' his presence and feels like he is locked away and needs to find him. The FNaF movie parallels ALOT from the Silver eyes, it just changes and adapts the events and characters. The whole Mike's brother was abducted by William Afton is clearly taken from Charlie. ' I killed your brother, now I will kill you. ' You can tell the whole movie is very heavily based on the FNaF novels if you've read them. For those unaware, in the novels Charlie has a brother ( Sammy ) who was taken by Afton ( I think at 3 years old? ). This is used in the movie for Mike, but changed instead where Mike tries to find who took Garret and he tries to change the past. Charlie spends her time in the novels trying to physically find Sammy, feeling like his spirit is locked away somewhere but she can still feel him.

( take everything I say with a grain of salt, and forgive me if I have spelt Garrot's name wrong. )

Saw a post that made me realize that the Burke family are the ultimate exceptions to the important family rules In fnaf-

Not only are Carlton’s parents both alive and NAMED but they’re like?? Good people?? Who love their son?? They’re divorced yes but don’t seem to be on the worst terms? Not the best terms either but it’s not like they wanna kill each other or anything

In the context of the story neither of them is exactly “wrong” either, for once the women is not the villain!! They both make completely reasonable arguments

Of course this whole thing started because clay was hiding robots in the basement but hey he had a good reason for that ok-

In conclusion:

The first non-abusive, all named characters, all alive by the end family in fnaf! Not to mention they’re all very interesting characters who I love dearly

Carl, Clay and Betty you will all have a very special place in my brain <3
