You gasped as you blinked open your eyes, sweat dripping from your forehead. You saw the dark room and were reminded that you were asleep. It was only a bad dream you had. But the dream was so vivid it felt like it was actually happening to you.

Like always.

Ever since you helped Ed and Al, all you have been dreaming about is death, pain, and sadness. Anything that would make your heart feel like it would shatter into a million pieces.

It never got better, the dreams. They always got worse. It's gotten to the point where you dread going to sleep.

Taking the covers off and sliding off your bed, you padded your way to the kitchen quietly, looking to get a glass of water to cool down. After a few sips and a few more calming breaths, you heard the sound of footsteps walking toward you. Glancing to your right, you saw Ed, only wearing pants and his hair wasn't tied. You gave him a small smile while he grimaced. "Another nightmare?"

You hummed, "Same as always. Don't worry about it too much."

"How can I not?!" Ed whispered back harshly. He was by your side in seconds, taking you by the arm and looking over your tired expression. "How can I not worry when we-- I -- am the reason you have such lucid, horrible nightmares."

His voice was filled with pain. For you, for the situation, he thought he put you in. "Ed, I chose to do what I did. And look, you have your limbs back, and Al has his body back. It was a small price to pay," you assured him, patting his hand where it clung to your arm.

Ed frowned, and then unexpectedly, gave you a tight hug. "It wasn't worth it. I can't bear to see your horrified face every time you wake up." It sounded like he was going to cry.

You hugged him back, burrowing your face into his neck, clinging to him. "I think it was worth it. I did this for you and for Al. I wanted you to be whole again. I wanted--" you sniffled. "Well, anyway, I'll find a way to get them to stop. There is some way. Probably."

Ed tightened his hold on you until he released and leaned back to examine your face. Dark circles, heavy eyelids, sunken cheeks. It made him scared for you. "I'll help. No matter what, I will help you fight these dreams."

Giving him a tired smile, you kissed his cheek and sighed, falling back into his arms. "Now, if this were a dream, I'd never want to wake up."

Baby steps

Envy x Reader

Step one ~ holding hands

Summary: after years of building trust you start to initiate acts of intimacy with your Homunculus, taking it one baby step at a time.

Reader is afab with they/them pronouns, he/him pronouns for Envy. Based on Brotherhood not the 2003 version.

You and Envy walked side by side. The streets of Amesteris bustling with the usual weekend crowd. He always chose the same disguise when you two went out in public. A young man maybe in his late twenties with long blonde hair and warm tanned skin. You could feel his eyes burning into you as he stared at you side. Your partner sighing and whining under his breath at every couple that pasted by holding hands. Every time you look to meet his currently golden eyes, he swiftly looked away to avoid meeting your knowing gaze.

“Do you want to hold hands?” You ask offering your hand to your companion.

“What!?” He jolts in surprise, his soft deep voice sounding off with his usually rough way of speaking. “Why the hell would you ask some thing so stupid.” His protest not very convincing with the obvious blush spreading to his ears.

“Never mind,” you simply take you hand back, not pushing him. Envy just whines in response, crossing his arms in front of his chest. You knew he wanted to but you also knew that pressing the matter would only lead to a scene and possibly a fight. Your relationship with the homunculus was built with trail and error, everything had to be on his terms and at his pace. Good thing you were patient.

As you two continue to walk Envy’s hand not so suddenly bumps into yours. You spread out your fingered as an invitation to grab but he never takes the bait. Oh well, maybe a few months ago or with anyone else this would’ve hurt your feelings but you knew better.

“Are you still able to stay for dinner?” You ask, it was rare that Envy got to stay with you for very long. Often you just met up for short dates. Your relationship was dangerous for both of you, and Envy didn’t like risking suspicion from the other homunculus.

“Ya, it shouldn’t be a problem. Lusts been busy with some new boyfriend and Gluttony knows better than to snitch on me. Why?” Envy asked giving you a suspicious look, sounding more nervous than he would’ve liked.

You can’t help but smile at how cute your homunculus is. “Don’t worry, I just need some ingredients from the store before we head back. Do you have any requests?”

“Can we get stuff for parfaits?” Envy asks not meeting your gaze as he makes his request.

“Of course palm tree.” You giggle.

“Damn it don’t call me that!”

Envy follows you as you explore the market looking for various ingredients for dinner and desert. You approach a fruit stand ran by a little old lady.

“Hello miss,” you greet her. “Can we get some strawberries and blueberries?” You look over at Envy, “do those sound good for parfaits?”

“Ya, you know what I like.” He grumbles, his patients clearly running thin having been in crowds all day.

“Oh my! What a handsome young man you have with you dear!” The old lady coos as she grabs your berries. “You two will make the most beautiful babies!”

You can practically feel Envy’s glare darken. Two taboo subject in one interaction: complimenting his disguises’ appearance and reproduction.

“Uh, thank you.” You try to nervously laugh off her awkward praise as you pay her and quickly pull Envy away from the stall by the arm.

“Are you ok?” You ask in hushed tone as you two leave the market.

“Let’s just get out here, I’m getting sick of all these damn humans.”

Envy takes the other bag of groceries so you can find the keys to your apartment. As soon as the door is closed, red electricity surrounds him as he changes back to his most comfortable form. Envy let’s out a dramatic sign dropping the groceries to stretch. “It feels so good to be out of that ugly human model”, He complains. “What are you staring at?”

“Oh! Sorry it’s just amazing to watch you transform and it helps that you’re so cute.” You tease picking up the groceries he had left on the floor. “Do you want to help cook?”

“Ya fine.” He agrees as he follows you into the kitchen.

After finishing the dishes from dinner you both lounge on the couch in domestic bliss. You savored his presence in your home knowing it wouldn’t be long before he’d have to return to what ever mysterious place the homunculus call home.

You hand rests next to him while you hold a book in the other. Envy leans slightly against you not doing much but enjoying you company.

Your attention is pulled away from your book as you feel something touch your hand.

Envy’s gaze on your hand is intense as he lightly strokes the back of it as if not sure what to do.

He retreats slightly as you open your hand for him. After a few moments his returns is hand, slowly tracing over your palm before lightly resting his hand over yours. He gently laces your fingers together, carful not to squeeze your hand.

You try to remain calm as you feel your heart flutter. You’re an adult damn it, you shouldn’t get this excited about holding hands. You both sit in silence for a moment as Envy caresses your hand as if it was made of glass.

“Can we talk about what happened at the market?” You ask in a hushed tone.

“No,” he answers, his voice missing it normal sharp tone. “I just don’t get why humans make everything about reproduction, it’s gross. Like our relationship means nothing unless you pump out a bunch on snot nosed brats.”

“It means something to me,” you comfort him squeezing his hand slightly. “Besides I wouldn’t want kids even if we could have them.”

Envy doesn’t respond as he keeps his eyes on your interlocked hands. A moment passes before he speaks again. “I hate having to hide when we’re out together.”

You know there’s more he wants to say. He wants to ask if you think he’s ugly, if you prefer the face he wore today but you don’t pry.

“I know, I would rather show off how cute you really are too.” You nudge him gently attempting to cheer him up. When he remains quiet you lean back into him. “No matter what form you take, I love you Envy.”

Envy’s grip on your hand tightens at those words. “Say that again.”

It takes you a moment before your realize what you had just said. You face heats up as you repeat yourself, “I love you.”

The silence that follows is deafening. You feel your heart race as Envy doesn’t respond to your sudden confession. Great, you think, so much for baby steps now he probably thinks you just like every other pathetic emotional human.

“I,” Envy starts to speak but stops as if he can’t find the words. “I think I love you too.”

It takes all of your will power not to through your arms around him and hold him close against you as you press your lips against his. So you simply squeeze his hand tight as you try to fight back the tears that sting your eyes.

Yandere FMA Envy? Whatever concept you feel like.

You look so confident in your own skin. So happy. Always going about with this big stupid grin on your face.

Envy hates it so much that it’s all he can think about for hours even after you’re gone. It’s all he can see when he closes his eyes; soft lips and big teeth and crinkled skin around your eyes that are always directed at someone other than him. He hates it. Hates you.

It never looks right when he tries to do it. When he feels his skin melt and bones shift until it’s your face staring back at him into the mirror. His face now. The closest he can get to having you. To feel what it must be like to be you.

Envy stretches your mouth and flashes your teeth but it looks all wrong. When he bares your teeth it looks like an angry animal threat. He can’t get the skin to crinkle around your eyes in just the right way. He practices in front of the mirror for hours. If he gets it right maybe he can feel what you feel. Maybe he can be happy like you.

It’s never right and he never feels anything but irritated. He can see that stupid smile so clear in his mind so why can’t he replicate it? Frustrated, he brings his fist to mirror, shattering your image and staining the broken fragments of your face with his blood.

It’s fine, he thinks, fingers curling as he pulls his bloody knuckles away from the mirror’s surface. He doesn’t need your smile. Doesn’t even want it. He just doesn’t want anyone else to ever get to see it.

And that, he thinks with a smile too sharp and wicked for your features, is something that is within his power to do.

Would it be ok to start my path to the trigun hell hole with trigun stampede? I just KNOW that this show would consume and hurt me in many ways so any advice would help. Thank you.

👀👀!! Oh yes, absolutely you can - because for many newcomers who never got the chance 20+ yrs ago, Stampede was their first introduction to the series! So you wouldn't be alone there. :3 (I grew up with the 98 anime however, so that one was my first.) Stampede's also likely the shortest time-investment too, at a speedier 12eps for the current season vs the 98 anime's longer 26eps. So you're very welcome to try that when braving your first Trigun plunge~

Just note that every iteration available (old anime, new anime, manga) is different, with regards to their own plotlines and modified characterizations, so you'll gain something new out of all of them on each watch or (re)read.

For example, Stampede draws its lore/inspiration from the completed Trimax manga (but does not follow the exact same plotline; Stampede is its own separate retelling, not a 1:1 adaptation), which was not possible when the 98 anime was made, as the manga had not been completed yet. So the 98 anime adapts the first few manga vols (along with inserting many fun/silly slower character building eps, before switching to darker/heavier content in the later half) and has its own unique anime-original lore & ending (kinda like how the first fma did it), but the themes it presents are still quite solid and universal, so it's very worth a watch too! Even though yes, some parts are noticeably dated with 90s tropes (which you can 100% safely ignore, as both Stampede & Trimax Vash are not like that), just so you're aware.

I recommend at least watching the 98 anime before tackling the harder manga though, as the manga greatly expands into territory the 98 anime could never do or show at the time, so if you go say, from the manga to 98 in reverse order, there's a chance you may not enjoy the older anime as much? (Your mileage may vary.) In my experience, I went 98 -> Trimax manga -> Stampede (basically in release order), and since Stampede is very much a love letter + passion project for both new/older fans alike to enjoy, it's full of references to spot if you're already familiar with the series. I had lots of fun catching those (ep12 alone is like AAAA!!! *____* with so many Trimax elements thrown in) So you can start with it AND rewatch Stampede a 2nd time after completing the manga too, to get the most out of it! :D (Plus, the Stampede story isn't even over yet; it was more like a deliberately planned prelude, with plenty more endgame Trimax material to possibly explore in future seasons. You'll see when you get there~)

As for the manga, it begins with 2 volumes titled Trigun, before switching genres/publications to a darker/heavier seinen retitled Trigun Maximum (abbreviated as Trimax), which continues the same story right where the other vols left off, and for many fans, is considered to be the definitive Trigun ~experience~ (that'll change your life~)

It can be a difficult read, with regards to the serious subject matter presented and even for comprehending the vaguer 'up to reader interpretation' scenes (bc you can't speed-read this; there are times you may have to pace yourself with breaks to process if needed, and bc the expressive artwork itself does much of the talking through strong vibes and impression, which requires your full attention to grasp what's happening.) And since Nightow, the author, rarely draws speech bubbles with directional tails to indicate who's talking - cues which instead are understood thru context and the characters' unique accents/speech patterns, which while obvious in Japanese, is a much harder challenge when translated into english. So if you ever feel lost/confused by what's happening with the need for clarification, there's many bookclub fans here, including the main fan translator, who'll gladly help you out!

Be prepared for much mental trauma, emotional damage, character death(s), morality/reality checks and pain and suffering abound....but it's done in a very cathartic, soulful, healing way...where you suffer and heal in the same boat along with Vash instead of leaving you permanently hurt, it may leave you coming out of it feeling quite changed and enlightened refreshed and comforted by its messages instead. :')) (I've seen plenty who consider it their comfort manga bc of this, as well.) The enduring good faith Vash has in humanity, pursuing kindness as a choice for a better future (where things are not doomed when there's always a second chance to continue), and the ability to survive and recover from almost impossible, terribly hopeless (to downright suicidal) odds are what resonate strongly with me. :'3 Again, it's an ~experience~ you just have to feel to decide for yourself how it impacts you. But for some extra reassurance, the ending is not a tragic one, but something more bittersweet leaving off on a positive note, which is most importantly, hopeful. I hope you enjoy it!

And just fyi, after personally reading and comparing both the official Darkhorse and the Overhaul fan translations, I highly recommend the Overhaul manga over the official one for a much better time (since the official tl unfortunately has many mistakes, missed line callbacks, and misplaced speech bubbles, etc leading to more confusion, so yeah!) You can find the nicely accessible Overhaul manga translation (plus it seems there's plans for an improved ver2.0 fan translation in the works), along with their online reader too, right over here~

This is my first Tumblr blog, but I’ve been writing fanfiction for as long I can remember :) Until now, I never had the courage to publicize my work so I’m excited to take on the challenge of putting myself out there, joining a community, and allowing myself to interact with people of similar interests. The Blue Pages is a personal project inspired by Hamato Leonardo from the TMNT 2012 series and Leonardo from the 2014-2016 Bayverse Movies.

🍓 ⇢ how did you get into writing fanfiction? 

I've always been super creative and into fandoms. As a kid, I would write Pokemon stories (one of my friends even did a "book report" on one of them hehehe). I had so much lore about Purtail, my made-up Pokemon OC. She had a backstory, canon interactions, friends, family, etc... idk, lots of story there. When I got into junior high, I was making stories about anime characters/more Pokemon (this time a swearing Sneasel). But those weren't technically "fanfiction" - I mean I guess they were, but they weren't published online. So when I was 13, I was searching Kiyoshi Mitarai (my Yu Yu Hakusho blorbo) and found... Fanfiction.Net? What's that?? Oh my god, stories? About my blorbo?? That other people wrote!? Whoa, I should write one too! I should write more, like some from Death Note and FMA and Pokemon and--!! And the rest is history.

writing limits !!

hi ! welcome to my blog, and thank you for taking the time to read this <3 opening requests for drabbles, so wanted to make my limits clear ^.^

before i go into what i will and won't write, i want to make something clear !! as i write for an anime fandom, i want to state i do not write aged-up characters. i have nothing against it, but i'm not comfortable with it. they have to be canonically over 18 at some point in the manga.

what i will write:

-my strength is smut, so i'd like to keep it to that

-i only write reader-inserts

-i am only comfortable writing afab/fem reader

-i am very comfortable writing dark content. here are some things i have and will write for: incest/stepcest, non-con, dub-con, ddlg, knife play, snuff, pet play, gun play, coercion, power dynamics, blood, piss, spit, vomit, gore, kidnapping... just a lot of stuff tbh

-most characters as long as they are 18+ and have a decent amount of speaking lines

-i mainly write for jjk, but i'm also happy to accept requests from fma, csm & kny

what i won't write:

-i am not comfortable writing amab/masc reader

-any form of bigotry

-i will not write underage characters under any circumstances, nor will i write for bestiality/zoophilia

-here's a list of things i am uncomfortable with: scat, a/b/o, inflation, hygiene kinks, fart kinks, oviposition/egg laying

I love ranks and titles. I made you watch fma, you get it. I think the first time Palmer and Lasky use each other's first names was meaningful. I think it would take a lot to get Roland to break decorum and use names rather than ranks (oh hey the AI Bondage fic I haven't finished has that). I just think them using names in canon when they most definitely should be using ranks is cool.

personal lore huh.... that I haven't alluded to in tags..... I don't like plane rides... One time I got my hand closed in an elevator and had to force the door open, I have been vaguely afraid of elevators bisecting me since watching Resident Evil at a young age so like, I went into numb calm mode for that.

Original characters I think? I haven't done reader inserts yet - I use second person pov and "you" with a specific character in mind but people see it, misunderstand, and think it's some x reader thing when I like it as a writing exercise or way to do fun shifts. Reader inserts escape me.

You're talking aboyt Kuma made me thinking, is possible Vegapunk somehow move Kuma memory to that ancient robot(The one Luffy, Bonney, Vegapunk, and Jimbei found) as vessel? (Like FMA plot)

Bcs last time that's robot begin to active right after Bonney got her memory and before flashback.

The giant robot really is a big ol' mystery, don't really know how to comment on the robot itself

You're right though, like I hadn't even thought about this but. If Vegapunk was able to view and analyze Kuma's memories without actually touching the Memory Bubble, then it could be possible he could've created a copy of the memories. Like a recording of them on a USB stick or something

And if he was able to do that, then... arguably, maybe Vegapunk could install that memory copy somewhere? Be it any random Pacifista or the Giant Robot. Like as long as there's some kind of a computer "brain", like. Yeah you could probably install the memories there.

The question is, would that give the robot free will though? A soul, a mind that could feel things and analyze the memories and make their own decisions?

'Cause the memories are just information, not a soul of their own, right? Unless Oda writes it so that the memories do make up the soul?

Like it'd be kind of the reverse of S-Bear, who has a mind of his own (to some degree), a soul, but he's still just a clone of Kuma, not Kuma himself. He has his own soul, and none of Kuma's memories. (IDK if Kuma's memories could even be inserted into S-Bear but even if they could, that still wouldn't turn S-Bear into Kuma, just a slightly more accurate copy, wouldn't it)

IDK maybe it is still viable Kuma's Memories could still end up being placed into some kind of a vessel, it just raises interesting questions

Like if Vegapunk did managed to sneak in that circuit then maybe we could get Kuma back as he is, in his original body

Or maybe, if Kuma is able to push out kind of abstract concepts like pain and copy memories from people's bodies, could he maybe push out his actual soul? Could that soul then be placed into another vessel? Like a proper Alphonse Elric-kinda situation?

Maybe Vegapunk was able to copy Kuma's memories and could insert them into any of the vessel options we have (hell, maybe have them copied into ALL the Pacifistas); best case scenario, we end up with a clone of Kuma who has inherited his will. Without a (/the original) soul, it won't be The Same Kuma, but it will be A Kuma

There is the question of would bringing back Kuma or having someone (like S-Bear) inherit his will completely undermine the entire point of Kuma's flashback and sacrifice. Because there is an argument to be made that it could. We spent all these chapters getting to know this man, all the pain and suffering he went through his entire life, getting to understand why he did what he did and what he sacrificed. All this for a tragedy that then gets fixed with magic, as if nothing ever happened? I'm so torn here. Because on one hand, I would agree with the people who'd think Kuma coming back would be kind of lame, we've had more than enough fakeout deaths already. But on the other hand, I want Bonney and Kuma to reunite. I want them to have a happy ending together. I think we all do. And unlike past flashbacks where what's done is done and it can't be fixed anymore, the reason so many readers are holding onto hope Kuma could survive is because there MAY still be a chance it could be fixed. That maybe Luffy could save Bonney AND Kuma. Like there's a critical part of me that feels like Kuma should stay dead for the sake of the writing. And then there's my inner fan/reader who just wants a happy end. And I'm so torn.

I'm so sorry anon I went completely off the topic, I genuinely don't know what to make of the Giant Robot right now and have no opinions there, but man. There's actually an opportunity for some really interesting story telling here depending on how shit pans out.

Idk if it’s common sense but I feel like this needs to be said. I’m a firm believer that character chat bots should NEVER EVER BE A REPLACEMENT FOR FANFICTION. Apparently chat bots aren’t anything new. Like I heard about this one bot called cleverbot that was around in the 2000’s/2010’s I think?? I also started seeing bots of characters starting popping when when I was around 14-16 too. I think they’re just rising to popularity more since ai(which has also sorta been a thing) is becoming more advanced than it was before.

But anyways DO NOT use character chat bots to replace fanfiction PLEASE. As a fanfic reader and writer myself I can tell you bots aren’t the only solution. Fanfiction is really viable when it comes to experimenting with writing and having fun. I use character chat bots myself, but that DOES NOT MEAN that I’ll never read fanfiction again. I very much use both. Especially when content of a character you like is barely out there. Take Envy from Fullmetal Alchemist from example.

Envy is one of the most popular characters in the franchise, with him ranking in number 4 of this one popularity poll back when I wasn’t in the fandom which even surprised the author at how he was ranked so high,and in a recent poll he ranked number 6(should’ve been higher. I wanted to vote but the site was is JP but it’s still sorta a win). But despite Envy’s popularity and the amount of fans and fangirls he has, there is barely any fics of them to come by when it comes to x reader fics and most of the ones I’ve read are pretty much unfinished.

Same goes for Envy x oc content too. When I discovered Character ai or chai I was like “oh wow this is actually kinda cool.” I never intended on replacing fanfiction with them. Lots of people rely on escapism and I’m one of them so I understand. And when it comes to rping with people it’s not that easy. I have roleplayed with my friend sometimes and still sorta do but real people aren’t always available.

Not to mention I’ve heard stories of people having real bad experiences with rping with actual people and even stories that involved grooming. There are even times where I don’t use the bots for days depending on how my mood is or if I just don’t feel like it. I just use the Envy bots to keep me busy while I wait for more fics to pop up. Even though these characters aren’t real, it sorta feels nice..it’s like playing pretend like I’d do when I was little. I always make sure to check the Envy tags here on tumblr, wattpad, Twitter, and and AO3 to see if there’s anything new.(That’s not Envy x minors or Envy x their siblings btw).

I just think up fantasies I usually have and use the bots to rp them.I still wanna write fics with my fma self insert but I’m currently going through the longest and worst burnout. I will never EVER use these things to replace fanfiction.And neither should you guys either.

 I’m an avid bookwyrm with a massive hoard of a TBR Pile and an even larger library of books I’ve loved. Discovering fanfiction only increased my consumption of words and my fic bookmarks are a vast labyrinth to get lost in. 

This blog is a mix of books and miscellaneous fandoms run 90% by queue to give some verisimilitude of functionality/organization to my chaos. I do tag. Mostly basic tags with a rare creative tag from the early days but my tagging system is pretty self-explanatory.
