Day 53: The All-Clucking Cucco, and Koltin
The researchers at Foothill Stable are grateful to be clothed again. Jora says he still can't find his friend Dillie - they lost track of each other round Rebonae Bridge, near Wetland Stable to the south west. From what Jora says, it sounds like Dillie might have fallen in a cave. I'll keep an eye out, but I'm not headed that way for a while - I hope he's got rations.
The korok up the hill by the stable is trying to reach a friend who's basically on the way to Akkala, just up the road. I hitch up Peaches to the stable's cart, load up the korok and set off.
Tumblr media
The old monster camp by the Akkala Road is empty - because they're on the bridge now!! Good grief. I charge Peaches through and we race for the stable.
We reach South Akkala Stable just as a storm blows in. I give Addison a hand.
Jana in the stable is preoccupied by a drawing of a beast on the wall. It's supposed to be this mystery beast I've heard about once or twice before. I don't know what to make of it.
Jana also mentions that her little sister Gleema is fascinated with a cucco oracle - whatever that is. What is it with this family and creatures - last time I was here, I think it was Gleema who wanted a bunch of dragonflies.
Dmitri, who runs the stable, wants a picture of the Unity Bell in Tarrey Town. There's a tradition that two people who ring it will be together forever. His four daughters would love it - and I'm headed there.
Kaifa is another of his daughters, caring for the sheep. But she's lost a cucco - not the prophecy one, apparently - and it won't lay eggs unless one of the family is nearby.
Penn is here! He's got no leads, and he wants to try the cucco prophecy to get some - or at least interview the people who come to see it.
Kaifa's cucco is in the well - but I can't figure out how to get her out.
Tenne is taking care of the horses - she wants to go to Tarrey Town one day and order a dream home. But first she wants a partner with kind eyes who knows how to bake - she hopes hanging the Unity Bell picture will help her dating life. Sweet.
After beating Parcy in an ore-smashing contest, I head up the hill to this cucco oracle.
Gleema says horseys, not bugs, is her new interest. She wants to ask the All-Clucking Cucco if she'll be a horse one day, but the line is too long.
Fashionista Falmark says he heard Cece was influenced by someone in Tarrey Town - maybe Hudson's wife? He stopped here to see the oracle, and the cucco told him there was treasure on a remote island in the northeast. He hopes this means clothes, but I think clothes being treasure is specifically a Misko thing. Unless this is a lead to one of Misko's chests? It's such a vague clue.
Lonnie is the only person still in the queue, but she needs more time to think and lets me go first.
The cucco knows my name, and that I'm seeking Zelda, but that's hardly a secret. It says I will face many trials - the first of which is to get to the top of the Stable.
Tumblr media
It takes me a second to find a place to ascend, but I do, and reach the top.
The second trial is… bring logs.
And the third is - the Yiga Clan! It's been so long! I'd almost forgotten about them, I can't believe they're still knocking about. I survive the ambush, and agree with Penn's assessment - the All-Clucking Cucco was nothing more than a Yiga scam. I wonder what it was supposed to achieve…
It's pouring down. I think about heading into the stable for the night - but then I turn to check the skyline and see the familiar glow of Kilton's balloon, just past Ulri Mountain Skyview Tower. Except that he gave it to Koltin, didn't he? If that guy's still looking for bubbulfrog gems, I have plenty for him. I run and glide through the rain, ignoring the tower for the moment in case I miss the window and Koltin picks up for the night. I'm not sure what his schedule's like.
Tumblr media
He gives me a moblin mask and tells me he can sense nearby bubbulfrogs now he's eaten some of their gems - strange that he still can't seem to catch any of them himself. He gives me three hinox toenails, the mystic robe, eight fire keese eyeballs, a lizalfos mask and five ice-breath lizalfos tails before I run out of gems for him.
I can see Tarrey Town from here. And it looks as though another town has sprung up on the banks of the lake below?
Tumblr media
I head back to the tower as dawn approaches. It would be silly to be so close and not to activate it.

The Pirate (Dad Squad)
EVERYBODY COME GET YOUR LINEBECK SOUP!!
Abel shook the strange feeling off of himself as they stepped through the gate created by the item. If it had led them here, that likely meant its twin had opened a portal to this land as well.
Blinking a few times to reorient after the brief kaleidoscope of light, Abel took in the sight of a bright sun, the smell of sea salt, and the sound of crashing waves. They were obviously by the ocean, though he had no idea where in particular, or what sea. He only knew of the Lanayru Sea, but tales spoke of other bodies of water that rivaled it.
Rusl walked ahead first, adapting quickly, eyes alert but face placid. Abel watched the Fierce Deity walk after him, unreadable as usual.
Something clearly caught their attention as they stood at the edge of the dock, staring. Abel peeked around them, wondering what it was, when he caught sight of the scene.
A ship was sinking. But it was moving towards them. Its deck had just been submerged, and its mast was all that was remaining. A man stood atop it, glaring ahead fiercely as if willing the boat to make it to the dock in time, but his posture was proud as if this had been planned all along.
What in the world...?
The mast managed to reach the dock in the nick of time, allowing the man to step off. He blew out a sigh, looking like his knees were about to buckle, when he caught sight of the group of men. He sized them up quickly, eyes widening a little at the sight of the deity, and then waved sharply. "How's it going? I'm just passing through. Gotta go now. Important things to do."
"Wait," Rusl interrupted, stepping into his way. "Can you tell us where we are?"
The man blinked, hackles less raised, confusion evident. "Where you--this is Mercay Island. How do you not know that? What, you get clocked by those red spandex wearing freakshows too?"
Abel immediately stiffened. "The Yiga were here?!"
"The who?" the man bounced back, looking even more confused as the wind whipped through his dark brown hair.
"It's a group of demon worshippers," Rusl explained. "They've taken our sons. We're tracking them. Where did you see them?"
The man's face flushed, eyebrows coming together in outrage. "They took someone of mine as well! And he's my best crewmate! Well, he's my only crewmate, but that isn't the point! I came here in search of a new ship to track them down since they--they sunk--"
Here the man sniffled, glancing away in seeming anguish at the lost of his boat.
"I'm sorry about your ship," Rusl said appeasingly. "But perhaps we can help each other."
The man hummed, crossing his arms and squinting at them as if he were debating the matter.
Abel started to grow impatient. "Do you want to find your crewmate or not?"
"Don't get short with me!" the man snapped. "I am Linebeck, captain of the seas, and I know this place better than anyone, especially you guys. I'm your only chance to find those freaks, so you're going to take orders from me now!"
The Fierce Deity picked the greasy looking man by the back of his coat, bringing him to eye level. The man, in turn, squealed, flailing his arms and legs in a desperate maneuver to get out of the hold, yelling, "LET ME GO, YOU BEACHED WHALE!"
Abel glanced at the deity, tempted to tell him to toss the man into the sea, but if he truly had seen the Yiga, then they unfortunately needed his help. Rusl just sighed, seeming to grow a little tired of being the sole negotiator of the group.
"How do you propose we find the Yiga if your ship has been damaged?" Fierce asked, silencing the man's squeals. "If I retrieve it, will you be able to repair it expediently?"
"Retrieve--it's sinking into the sea, you small brained land mass!"
Abel did have to almost laugh at that one. Rusl looked unimpressed by the man's impolite demeanor, but at least his insults were entertaining. Nevertheless, they needed to move.
Fierce seemed to sense Abel's impatience and Rusl's disapproval, casually tossing the sailor aside as he walked up to the mast. The man spluttered, shakily trying to get to his feet before promptly falling back on to his backside as he watched the deity singlehandedly start to pull the ship out of the water with a firm grasp at its mast. Abel heard the wood start to give, though, not tolerating the force it took to fight the water crushing the rest of the ship, and he put a hand on Fierce's shoulder. "Let it go. We'll have to find another way."
Rusl turned to Linebeck. "We'll work with you, friend, but not for you. Understood?"
Linebeck gulped, still trying to process what he just saw, and then he huffed, rising. "F-fine. Whatever. But I'm still in charge."
Abel felt his eyebrows pinch together. "That's not--"
"Let's go!" Linebeck announced, twirling around and marching towards the island. "I know just the ship we can acquire."
The three trudged behind him somewhat reluctantly. Abel bristled at being given orders from someone like this, but he kept his mouth shut for now. Instead, it was the sea captain who spoke first.
"So... what are all your names?" he asked as he continued to stride ahead.
The Ordonian answered first. "I'm Rusl. This is Abel, and Fierce."
"Fierce?" Linebeck repeated, glancing back at him. "Weird name."
"It is my title," Fierce clarified.
"Title? Who calls you Fierce? Fierce what, Fierce Breaker of Personal Boundaries?"
This man talked entirely too much.
"What's the plan?" Abel asked before the conversation could continue.
"That ship," Linebeck said, pointing towards a relatively large ship sitting in the harbor. "We can use that to track those scum."
"If you already had another ship, why were you perturbed at the loss of your other one?" Fierce questioned.
"It's not his," Abel surmised quickly.
Rusl smiled, rolling his shoulders. "All right, then. Who owns it?"
Abel glanced over at the Ordonian, a little baffled. He still hadn't entirely wrapped his head around what kind of work this man did - he was the most polite and kind of the group, easy with people, yet he condoned stealing in a heartbeat.
Not that Abel wouldn't steal if he had to, but... he had to. Rusl was... he didn't know. This just certainly was not the first time the man had done it, that was for sure.
And clearly, this sailor was more akin to a pirate.
Sighing heavily, Abel listened as Linebeck prattled on about some women "who won't be a problem," and the three men started moving steadily towards the boat.
Surprisingly, it only seemed to have two women aboard - Linebeck claimed that the rest of the crew was at the market. That at least made things simpler.
The four moved quickly. Rusl crouched low, leading the way and pulling out a dagger he hid in his belt. Despite being quite the swordsman, Abel had observed that Rusl often resorted to a dagger in close combat, and the more he saw it, the more he questioned the blacksmith's occupation. Fierce, on the other hand, left his hands open, likely not wanting to use his powerful blade on a couple women guarding a ship. Linebeck was also unarmed, curiously.
Sighing, Abel unsheathed his sword. He caught up to Rusl, and the two rushed up the gangway, picking a target and quickly overpowering them. Rusl never unsheathed his dagger, only using its small hilt to smack the woman across the temple, knocing her unconscious and covering her mouth as she fell. Her companion caught sight of him before Abel could get to her, yelling, but Abel easily tossed her overboard while Rusl pushed the other down the ramp.
Fierce walked aboard next, glancing around, while Linebeck sauntered aboard. The pirate's face was tight, as if he hadn't quite expected the ferocity the men had displayed, but he tried to cover it with a quick little, "Well done. Now we can depart."
"Not yet," Fierce said quietly, his voice in that low tone he used when stalking prey. Abel immediately went alert, whirling to find what he was looking at, when--
"Intruders!!"
Turning sharply, Abel saw a woman pointing from a door leading below deck. Within an instant, at least ten other women appeared, all armed and snarling.
"You said they were in the market!" Abel yelled as he readied for a fight.
Linebeck didn't reply, seemingly vanishing into thin air, and Abel only caught sight of his blue tailcoats slipping under a barrel.
"Did--did he just--"
"Not now!" Rusl snapped as their enemies charged on them.
Abel focused quickly, dodging a strike from a nearby fighter before parrying her blade and kicking her away to create some distance. Thankfully, he still had at least one functional shield left, and he quickly used it to block a jab from another enemy. Before he could retaliate, the two women were swept away by a... screaming woman?
Abel glanced to his right to see Fierce holding one of the fighters by her wrist and using her as a weapon to ram into the others. At his questioning glance, the deity explained, "The little hero usually does not approve of killing mortals. If these women prove problematic, I'll eliminate them, but for now--"
"Behind you!" Abel interrupted, pointing as another fighter tried to leap off the rail of the deck and stab Fierce in the head. The deity swatted her like a fly, and she rammed into the opposite end of the ship.
"Jolene!" some of the others shouted. Abel immediately perked up at the reaction - clearly this woman was important, maybe even the leader.
"Toss her off!" Abel ordered the deity, moving to intercept a few other enemies. He glanced to his left to check on Rusl and found the Ordonian starting to accumulate a pile of enemies who were on the ground writhing or motionless.
The former knight felt a swell of pride for his friend before looking back to see Fierce easily throwing the leader off the ship. As predicted, the others followed to check on her, leaving the men in peace temporarily. Abel put his sword and shield away to pull out his bow and arrows while Rusl pulled the gangway up to prevent them from returning. Moving to the edge of the ship, Abel nocked the arrow, aiming for a second before letting it fly. It sank into the woman's shoulder, making her scream in pain.
He nocked another arrow.
"Abel," Rusl interrupted, putting a hand on his shoulder. "The fight is over."
Abel continued to stare at his target. Killing her would put the rest of her crew into chaos. It would prevent them from following them.
Rusl's hand tightened a little, reassuring but firm. "Abel."
Sighing, Abel slowly lowered the bow and arrow. His focus was interrupted as he heard splashing, glancing over to see Fierce throwing the bodies overboard.
There was a scrape of wood on wood, catching the men's attention, and they all drew their weapons to see--
Linebeck, peeking out from under the barrel. "Oh, are they all gone?"
I'm going to kill him. Abel marched forward, eyes alight with rage, when he was held back by Fierce, who pinched the back of his tunic to prevent him from moving ahead. He turned to snap at the deity, but his words were quickly overrun by the pirate, who dusted himself off and continued, "Well done, then! We're ready to set sail! I'll man the helm."
As he moved forward on the deck, he scurried all of a sudden, filled with seemingly feral energy, and stood on his tiptoes at the railing, shouting, "THAT'S FOR ALMOST BLOWING UP MY SHIP TWO WEEKS AGO, JOLENE!"
Before anyone could comment, he rushed to set sail as if his life depended on it, guiding the ship out to sea.
Abel blew out a frustrated breath, and he felt Fierce release him. He kicked the barrel under which the pirate had been hiding, taking little satisfaction from it but having to get his anger out somehow.
Rusl took a moment to calm himself as well, though far less noticeably, before he walked over to the wheel. "So where are we going?"
"Bannan Island," Linebeck answered, eyes on the horizon. "That was the direction they went, towards the north sea. They also claimed to be going to a Banana Island, so I think they heard the place's name wrong."
Banana Island. Goddess. Sometimes Abel was almost embarrassed that these were his enemies. Though it simply proved that sheer numbers could cause enough of a threat, despite how idiotic they were.
There was silence for a while as Marcay Island grew steadily smaller. The adrenaline of the fight wore off, and Abel slowly slid to the ground, feeling his stomach grow steadily more upset at the tossing of the waves.
"Who are these people, anyway?" Linebeck eventually asked, glancing at Rusl. "What do they want?"
"They essentially want to see the world burn," Rusl answered, crossing his arms. "Somehow that involves taking our sons hostage."
Linebeck pursed his lips, debating some issue, and sighed. "Well, that's rotten luck. Good thing you have me."
"Oh yes," Abel huffed. "Where would we be without you?"
Linebeck didn't seem to catch his quip, or if he did, his rebuttal was interrupted by Fierce asking, "Why did they take your crewmate?"
Linebeck's face soured, and he glared ahead of him at nothing in particular. "Whatever the reason, Link can probably get himself of out of it. But... I need a crew. So I'm finding the kid."
Link?!
No. Surely not. There was no way this disgrace of a man had a Hero in his crew, and--
Oh goddess he did, didn't he? That would be why the Yiga targeted him.
"Our boys are named Link too," Rusl said, eyes widening a little as he came to the same conclusion. "Heroes of Hyrule, spread across time. I think they must be targeting them because they know they'd stop them otherwise."
"Heroes? Hyrule?" Linebeck repeated, staring at him. "My kid isn't a--I mean, he's--look, he's my crew, and... he's a good kid, but..."
The pirate bit his lip, staring at the wheel a moment, still and silent. Worry etched every feature before he shook his head.
"The Yiga will perish," Fierce assured him. "We'll find your child."
Linebeck flushed. "H-he's not my child!!"
"Right," Rusl chuckled, patting the man on the back.
Abel sighed, ignoring the pirate temporarily and looking at at sea. The horizon bounced up and down along with the ship, giving him a headache, and he closed his eyes. He wondered if they'd actually have any luck this time - all they'd found were scraps of information and cold leads. This attack seemed fairly fresh, so hopefully they could make it in time.
Ugh. Closing his eyes made the seasickness worse.
Thunder rumbled, catching Abel's attention, and he hastily opened his eyes to see dark clouds ahead. "Uh..."
"Are we going to sail through the storm?" Fierce questioned, staring at the abysmal weather.
"No sailor goes through a storm on purpose," Linebeck immediately said. "That's just suicide. Lucky for you, I'm an excellent sailor. We'll skirt around it - I don't want to lose too much time."
At least Abel could agree with the man on that. But still... even he, someone who did not navigate the ocean, knew not to get near a storm out in the open sea. "Are we sure about this? We should probably try to avoid it altogether."
"And give those sea vipers time to get away?" Linebeck growled, glaring at the clouds. "Ha! I, Linebeck, master of the seas, can handle this just fine! I'm getting my crew back, blast it!"
Well... he couldn't fault him for his determination, at least. But still... Abel sighed, hugging the wooden support rung under the railing, lightly bouncing his forehead against it. "We're going to die."
Abel's relatively mild quip felt more and more like a promise the closer they got. The winds picked up, the sea turning a sickly green, and Abel nearly threw up with how much they were being tossed around. Rusl nearly flew across the ship as one wave almost overturned them, and Fierce had to grab him by his shirt to save him. The three men clung to the rail desperately, occasionally getting beaten by walls of water spilling overtop them.
Abel looked to the helm worriedly, feeling completely out of control and petrified, only to see Linebeck standing firmly, holding the wheel with a steel grip. He glared defiantly at the sea, almost daring it to try its worst, confident and firm in his stance.
At the sight, the former knight had to admit he felt almost a little reassured.
Another wave crashed into them, and Abel watched Linebeck release the wheel a moment, letting it turn sharply, guiding the ship to ride with the wave. Then he grasped it, guiding the mast with gritted teeth as he fought against the whipping winds. Fierce pulled Abel close, shielding both him and Rusl with an iron grip to the railing so the waves wouldn't knock them off.
Honestly, with the way they were getting tossed, Abel would be surprised if they didn't capsize. He clung desperately to both the rail and the Fierce Deity, feeling the mythical being's strong arm pressing him and Rusl closer together. Rusl and Abel exchanged a look, some kind of finality or certainty in each other's eyes as they nearly flew over another wave, facing it head on.
They still had to find their boys. Abel had to get back to Tilieth. He'd survived a damn apocalypse, he wasn't letting this be what killed him.
Glancing up at the pirate again, Abel saw the same fierce determination on his face. It was a promise, and despite how Abel's entire world was trying to kill him, he took comfort in it.
Abel closed his eyes, his forehead touching Fierce's sleeve, his hand brushing against Rusl's as they both held on to the deity for dear life, shivering and trusting and letting go.
Hylia... I leave this up to you. Don't let me down.
He lost track of time. All he heard was the crashing of waves, like claps of thunder, roaring in his ears, making his heart pound. But slowly, surely, the boat jostled them less, the wind didn't howl as it had, and the ship rocked and bounced up and down like a hammock instead of feeling like an earthquake.
Abel opened his eyes, dripping wet, tasting salt and bile, and saw sunlight.
Linebeck smiled down at them, hands on his hips, looking triumphant. "Told you I was the best."
Rusl barked out a laugh, slowly rising while Abel continued to shiver in Fierce's hold. "Well, I'm certainly impressed."
"Are you alright?" Fierce whispered softly, his arm shifting to rest his hand on Abel's back.
Hesitantly, Abel rose, testing his legs, though his knees certainly felt like they could give out at any moment.
It was official. He despised sailing.
But he could recognize and admire skill when he saw it. "Well done, Linebeck."
The pirate beamed, postiively preening at the praise, and Abel found he couldn't hold himself together any longer, leaning over the rail and vomiting.
Linebeck cackled quietly, heading back to his original spot. "Well, it isn't for everyone, I guess. But I promise the rest of the way is less rough."
Rusl helped Abel sink back to the floor while Fierce grabbed some water at the Ordonian's request.
"You good?" Rusl asked. He was shivering too, just as soaked to the bone as Abel, but he seemed far better put together.
"Nothing fazes you, does it?" Abel asked hoarsely, somewhat annoyed and jealous.
Rusl smirked. "We all have our strengths. You're certainly a better fighter than me."
If you say so. Abel pinched the bridge of his nose, feeling a little less nauseous, and accepted the water Fierce offered him.
The sun slowly dried everyone off as they continued to make their way to their destination. Eventually, Rusl, being the talkative man that he was, starting gently interrogating their captain while Abel leaned against Fierce with his eyes closed. The deity didn't mind, letting himself be a pillow, but Abel could hear fabric shift as he turned to listen in to the other two.
"How did Link become part of your crew?"
"Well, I was hunting treasure," Linebeck explained. "Link wanted to find the ship I was looking for. His friend, uh, needed some help. So we worked together. I figured the kid worked so well it only made sense that he stick around. He..."
Here the pirate paused, and Abel looked over at him. His eyes were cast downward, and though shadows pulled at the dark circles under his eyes, he had a gentle smile on his face.
"He's a good kid."
Fierce sighed quietly, barely audible over the breeze. "I must figure out why these Yiga are after our children."
Linebeck grew flustered. "I said he wasn't my kid!! Look, he's just a useful member of the crew, okay? Honestly, I'm not that soft!"
Fierce blinked, the slightest crinkle to his nose, a dead giveaway that he was bemused. "You speak of love and affection as if they are weaknesses."
"Wha--I--this is silly, I am a pirate, and--"
"And?" Rusl prompted, eyebrows raised, a mischievous, gentle smile pulling at one corner of his mouth. Fierce may not have understood the man's blustering, but Rusl clearly was just trying to mess with him now, seeing right through his bravado.
Personally, Abel was just a little exasperated by it. Men who pretended they were "tough" and nothing affected them all the time simply to show off annoyed him. He used to maintain a calm façade not because he was trying to prove a point, but because the last thing people needed was to see someone in charge panicking. This was different. This wasn't a way to keep others feeling safe and secure, this wasn't a means of protecting others, this was a pitiful attempt for Linebeck to protect himself.
Perhaps it wouldn't annoy him so much if he didn't suspect the man behaved this way in front of his kid too. He could act a fool to others, but if he denied his affection for his boy right in front of him, Abel did not approve of that.
But he didn't have to say anything. Fierce's innocent confusion would tear down his argument well enough.
Linebeck huffed, looking like he was scrambling for an argument, but Abel had to interrupt it when he caught sight of something. "Is that land?"
Everyone turned to look, seeing a small splotch of yellow and black andd green, and Linebeck laughed triumphantly. "There it is! Land ho! I told you I would get us there in record time! Now hold on, you sorry land slugs, we're coming in fast!"
He was true to his word as it seemed to take little time to reach their destination. For once, it was blessedly easy to find their target - a large ship with the Yiga symbol on its mast, painted sloppily as if it had just been done, was at the port. Linebeck worked to slow their approach, when Abel instead insisted, "Don't slow us down, just ram it - we'll take care of the rest!"
"There's a cannon on this ship," Rusl noted.
"We can't risk hurting the boys if they're aboard," Abel argued, shaking his head. "Just damage it enough to stop them from escaping, and we can board."
Linebeck nodded. "Just so you know... it's uh, all up to you once we get there. I'm a fantastic fighter, but I'm afraid my sword is on my own ship."
Rusl and Abel both stared at him dully. "Right."
The men prepared themselves, weapons at the ready. Fierce pulled out his double helix blade, making Linebeck's eyes double in size. "Geez, overkill much? Get ready, we'll hit them on the port side."
"The--the what side?"
"Port, on the port--ugh, on your left!!"
The three moved, and Linebeck snapped, "Your other left!! Left from facing the bow!"
Abel sighed heavily, positioning himself and bracing for impact alongside the other two. As the Yiga ship grew closer at an admittedly unnerving rate, he prepared to jump.
Their boat slammed the Yiga ship, impaling its hull slightly and causing it to rock so severely that they could hear some of the enemies screaming and falling into the sea.
Linebeck roared in satisfaction. "HAHA, TAKE THAT YOU BRAINLESS JELLYFISH!"
Abel let the momentum of the movement carry him, Rusl, and Fierce across as they leapt with the contact. The Yiga boat was still nearly on its side when they landed, causing them to slip a little, but Abel recovered quickly, decapitating the first Yiga in sight before moving on to the next. The team moved quickly, with Fierce taking out swathes of the enemy in one fell swoop while Rusl tore ahead. Abel scoured the area for signs of a leader, entering the underbelly of the ship as well.
When he reached the brig, he froze, breath stolen from his lungs. There was another gate there, its bright kaleidoscope dizzyingly swirling, and two Yiga stood before it, holding an unconscious boy.
Oh hell no! Charging ahead, Abel stabbed one Yiga quickly, kicking the other off the child before finishing him off. Rusl hastened in shortly thereafter, wiping blood of his sword.
"Anyone else?" Abel asked as he knelt down to check on the child.
Rusl shook his head, cheeks flushed, eyes aflame. He held up a booklet. "Found a journal log, though. Might be able to help us."
At this point, Abel honestly wasn't surprised, just exasperated. He supposed the Yiga's main purpose in being here was to take this boy. Theirs were still at large.
At least they'd spared this boy the same fate.
Fierce entered last. "The enemy has been eliminated."
Abel sighed, looking down. The boy in front of him was young, not even a teenager from the looks of it, though he was likely close. His hair was thick and wispy, golden as the sands and thick with mositure and sea salt. He wore a green tunic and undershirt, paired with white trousers.
"Link!"
Catching the men's attention, Linebeck rushed into the room, kneeling down beside the boy. His hands hovered over him hesitantly, face paling at the abrasions on the boy's face. At first his concern was genuine, but his eyes shifted to the dead Yiga around him and suddenly he looked woozy.
Abel fought the urge to roll his eyes. He motioned with his head to Fierce, who quietly removed the bodies. With the distraction gone, the pirate returned his attention to the child, considerably less pale but still oh so hesitant and gentle with Link.
The boy stirred, squeezing his eyes before slowly blinking them open. Abel could see the immediate sparkle of relief as the boy registered seeing Linebeck, and the former knight smiled a little.
Linebeck smiled in return, hands finally settling on the child, patting hsi cheek and helping him sit up. His grip settled on the boy's shoulders, and he took a steadying breath.
And then he started shaking him like a rag doll.
"You stupid sea monkey, what were you thinking do you have any idea how much trouble I had to go through just to get to you, they sank my ship, now we have to get a new one--!"
The other men stared, a little caught off guard, and then Rusl gently pointed out, "Easy, you're going to give the kid whiplash."
Linebeck paused, glancing at them, leaving Link nearly limp in his grip, eyes dazed and clearly dizzy. The pirate huffed, pulling the boy to his feet, and Link stumbled around a few paces before nearly collapsing against him.
Sighing, Linebeck settled an arm around the child to keep him from falling over, letting him lean against him. "Well. The job's done, at least. But... didn't you say your boys were missing too?"
Rusl smirked. "Ah, so he is your boy?"
Linebeck jumped, eyes widening. "W-wha--no, I--you're dodging the question!"
Rusl waved the booklet in response. "I'm sure this log will have valuable information for us. But you and your son should get out of here. We'll make sure the Yiga can't come back."
Linebeck was practically inflating with hot air to rebuke Rusl's claims about him and Link, but he instead stormed out. "Honestly, I rescue you ungrateful sea barnacles and you mock me. I'm leaving."
"You forgot your kid," Abel noted dully as the boy shook his head and steadied himself.
"Link, let's go, what are you waiting for!" Linebeck called from above deck.
Abel put a steadying hand on the boy's shoulder while Rusl smiled warmly at him. "Better get going, son."
The boy looked between them, adn then the Fierce Deity, and then he nodded, saying softly, "Thank you. Thank you for taking care Linebeck."
With that, the kid ran outside, and Rusl laughed. Abel had to chuckle at the ridiculousness of it all.
"Let's get through this gate and seal it," Abel suggested. "We can read the journal after we get out of here. The less likely they can come back, the better."
Fierce's reply was cut off by voices from above.
"Linebeck, look! It's Jolene's ship!"
"Of course it is, I stole it!"
"But then why is your ship over there?"
"What?! My ship was--that's my ship!"
"Oh! I think I see Jolene on it!"
"She fixed my ship? SHE STOLE MY SHIP??"
Rusl and Abel exchanged a look, and then they both snickered.
Fierce glanced hesitantly above deck, but Abel shook his head. "Leave him to his fate. Clearly this is not their first encounter, and they've managed without us. We should go."
With that, the three men strode forward, preparing for another adventure.

BotW Link x Non-Binary Reader
Prompt - "You touch him, you're dead"
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
You stood between Link and a member of the Yiga Clan. You and Link were simply trying to find something in Hyrule, when they popped out of nowhere. Now normally you and Link could handle the Yiga Clan. But they were able to ambush you two.
Knocking both of you off your horses, then attacking. You and Link fought, taking out most of the Clan. But then one of them managed to shoot Link. An arrow in the leg that caused Link to fall.
Then he got a hit on the head.
Link fell to the ground with thud. That’s when you noticed and you immediately ran over to him. Placing your legs on each side of him and planting your feet on the ground.
Holding your sword and shield so tight that your knuckles turned white. You glared at the members that were left. Their blades in their hands and bodies hunched.
“Touch him, and you’re dead” You sneered.
Angry flowing through your veins. You were ready to kill. The members didn’t take your warning. They ran to you. A suffered the consequences. When the first one ran to you, your blade fell on it.
Cutting the chest. A cut from the shoulder to the waist. They fell to the ground. The next got their head cut off. The next got stabbed. The rest fell quickly.
The adrenalin helps with your fighting. And the wish to protect the man you love helped to. Once they all fell, you looked back to Link. His sword and shield were at his side, and his eyes were half lidded.
You placed your sword and shield on your back as he kneeled down to get a better look at him. The arrow was still in his leg, stopping the bleeding, but it would still hurt.
There was blood on Link’s head, and you didn’t know if that came from Link’s head or the Yiga Clan. You went closer to Link’s face and tried to see if he was awake. “Link?” you whispered, reaching up to touch his arm.
He was lying on his side. Link opened his eyes slightly and looked at you. “Y/n?” Link asked, tilting his head, making him look like a puppy. You smiled slightly
“Yeah that’s me” you said looking down at Link’s leg. Link followed your gaze and he winced at the sight. You looked back at Link and tried to comfort him. “Your fine”, that was more for you then Link. Link moved his hands, asking if he was fine. You didn’t want to lie, but you didn’t really know.
He should be fine.
Yeah he should.
The adrenaline wore off by now and you were able to think clearly. You just needed to remove the arrow and give Link a healing potion. “Yeah you will be”, you looked around for one of your guys bags.
Once you found one, you reached in and found a healing potion. It was the only one. You placed the potion down and brought Link into your lap, turning him around so he was on his back.
Link let out a moan of pain, and his face scrunched. “Sorry love” you said as you picked the potion back up. “Here. Drink”, Link opened his eyes and shook his head, pointing to your arm.
You looked over and realized that you had a cut on your arm. Almost wrapping around your entire arm. You just realized it now, guess not all of the adrenaline wore off.
ou also just now realized how much your arm hurt. “I’m fine, you drink”, you noted, bringing the potion to his lip. Link moved his hands again, asking if he should.
You nodded.
While one hand brought the potion to Link’s lips, the other pulled the arrow out. Once the arrow was out, the potion immediately healed the skin and eased Link’s pain. Link relaxed, but he still looked pale.
You moved your hand from under his head and saw that it had blood on it. So the blood came from Link. If Link was bleeding then he wouldn’t be able to walk.
He still looked drowsy and tired. He had probably lost a lot of blood. You cursed under your breath and realized that you had to get Link somewhere safe.
The sun was setting, and neither you nor Link could handle what came out at night. You cursed again. You had to get Link somewhere safe. You placed Link to the ground and picked all of your guys' stuff up.
It was a lot to carry, but it was only going to get worse. You crushed down and picked Link up. It was hard, but once you got him up, it got easier. You then looked around, looking for something, anything.
That’s when you saw some light in the distance. A sable, perfect. You smiled and looked down at Link. “You good?” You asked. Link opened his eyes and looked at you.
Link moved his hands down his chest.
Tired.
You knew some sign language. Being Link’s partner meant you had to. You guessed that that one was tired. Though it wasn’t the best, you give Link a pass.
He was tired.
“You can sleep soon love” You smiled, then started walking. The walk was tiring. Caring Link and everything made your arms, legs, and back hurt but you could push through it. You could do it for Link. After a very long time, long to you, you made it to the stable.
You walked to the counter and asked for a bed for two nights. Once the guy realized that you were holding the Hero of Hyrule, and he didn’t look so good, he said that you two could stay for free.
You said sure but made a metal note to pay him when Link woke up. You placed Link down and placed everything you here holding down.
You sighed when everything fell. Finally you could rest a bit. But the pain reminded you of your arm. You looked over, the bleeding stopped but it looked like shit.
You winced.
You reached into your bag and got some bandages. The next couple minutes were spent wrapping your arm. Once that was done, you sighed again, You were tired. But you needed to wrap Link’s head. So you did.
That was easier than wrapping your arm. Once that was done, you could finally sleep. Lying down next to Link, you pulled both of you under the covers of the bed and wrapped your good arm around him, and closed your eyes.
Safe and sound.

The Wolf can what now?
This snippet but from the boys side of things.
The Wolf was growing tired, Link could see. Though he suspected part of it was carrying both him and Scars for hours with no water or breaks. Link licked his cracked lips and winced at the pain. He hopped off the Wolf and was concerned with how long it took his friend to stop and lift his head quizzically at Link. “I’m thirsty, and I bet Scars could use water too.” The Mother cucoo immediately put his nose to the ground and went searching. Link had learned the fastest way to get him to agree to anything was to make it about him or Scars with how much of a bleeding heart the Wolf was. Shortly after that they were having their fill by a river while Link dripped water into Scars mouth from a clean cloth. He felt a little better that Scars was reacting to the water at least. After he filled the (smelling horribly of banana) water skin stolen during the current escape he maneuvered scars body and himself back on top of the Wolf and they were off again, towards the setting sun and a rumor of a town called Kakariko. 43 and half minutes later the sun had set and they could see a herd of horses in the distance. Link felt his heart clench at the sight of a chestnut mare, hoping that Epona was doing fine wherever she was. Apparently the wolf underneath him had a similar idea, for he stopped gently lowered the Hylians to the ground and with what Link could only describe as a Wolfish grin, began to howl. At first he was confused but then he realized just what order the howled notes were in. It was Epona’s song!  Link felt his jaw drop, how in the world had his friend learned that song? His fingers itched to join on his ocarina but it was still somewhere in the Yiga base, probably getting filled with rotten banana juice or some other crime against foods worth eating. The mare nearest to them stopped grazing and instead trotted in their direction. As she got nearer Link felt his throat tighten in painful familiarity. The horse was a beautiful silver bay, less red than the Epona he had come to know yet still eerily similar enough to make his eyes burn with unshed tears. The horse spooked a little once she caught sight of the wolf howling the melody, But he continued the song and Link watched on fascination as eventually the horse crept closer to the predator, clearly following the song. Eventually the horse was nearly leaning on the wolf in clear contentment, so Wolf stopped howling, and instead faced the horse with a wagging tail and some near excited yips? Link watched as it seemed the horse and his wolf friend had a conversation? He was pulled from his thoughts when Wolf boofed in his direction, waiting for Link to walk over before nudging Scars with his snout and then pointing to the mare’s back. Link felt himself light up at the message! He got scars balanced on the mare well enough, but encountered a problem when it came to getting on her himself. She was a full grown mare and he was nowhere near as tall as the adult version of himself yet. After a couple failed attempts, Wolf came over and used himself as a step stool for Link, somehow looking faintly amused as he did so. (He had no idea Wolves could look so smug) With the group resituated, they moved in the direction with Wolf in the lead, Link trusting that he had some idea where they were going, though now that he had seen Wolf talk to the mare he started to suspect that the times Wolf would disappear from camp were more than a chance to stretch his legs.
@skyloftian-nutcase @smilesrobotlover finally some fluff for the boys!!

Yiga member x Ganondorf NSFW please🥺
HEAR ME OUT....She's one of those who were tasked with finding Ganondorf and didn't come back. I wonder why ;)
He smirked as he watched his phantoms toying with her. She was quite the sight. It was pleasing to know his reign was known still in this age as he slowly regained his strength.
He knew once his victory was sealed, he would be the one to delve into her body. For now, though, he satisfied himself in watching her being spit roasted by phantoms of him.
Y/N choked and moaned as her lord's puppet gripped her hair, forcing her to deep-throat him as the one behind her pumped into her almost violently.
All for the glory of the demon king, she happily took their lengths. She knew this was a test. She was determined to pass so that she might be worthy of being Lord Ganondorf's concubine. She knew she'd only be the first of many but it was worth it with the way these puppets were destroying her.
Her orgasm was almost meaningless to them as she was filled to the brim with seed before the phantom pulled away. Another slid in and simply began to fuck her as though she wasn't overly-sensitive already.
Glory to the Demon King, she prayed as she choked, feeling the phantom beginning to come into her throat. She coughed, blushing more as some of it leaked from her nose and tears fell down her face before he pulled away.
"More!" She begged.
He smirked as he watched her get pinned to the ground and mounted like an animal.

Clipped Wings - P2
Whump Rating: 3.5/5 TW: burns, injury description
Link is huddled in the corner of his cell. The yiga dragged him in and dumped him roughly, promising to come back later. His wings—
Well, better not to think of that right now.
Haltingly, aching, he dragged himself as far away from the cell door as he could get. Now he huddles, trying not to move save for the faint puffs of breathing. His throat hurts where the rope choked him. The skin on his back is blistered and weeping from the burns.
He’s not flying again, but that means little, now. The yiga will be back and this time they’ll cut his wings off. Either he’ll bleed to death, or they’ll kill him to hurry the processes. Mipha can save him once, but not twice in quick succession. Nor can she bring back his feathers. Either way, there’s no escape.
What about Zelda? What about Hyrule? Will they have to wait for another hero to save them? Can Zelda hold back the Calamity for that long? Why are they stuck relying on him; an amnesiac who’s barely made it this far? He should have prepared more. He should have trained and collected more supplies.
Link got cocky on that rafter, didn’t he? Otherwise, he wouldn’t have slipped. He should have taken it slower. Or waited for a time with fewer patrols Or—
There’s a noise outside the cell. He flinches on instinct, which jostles his burnt skin. He can’t hold back the broken call, a mash of help, pain, fear! The noise grows closer. This is it, they’re going to drag him out and kill him, as many times as it takes before Mipha’s power can’t save him.
A shadow across the cell door and Link tucks himself into the wall, like they won’t see him in the small space.
“Oh, Link.” It’s not a yiga’s voice, but a girl’s voice. Younger, high-pitched. Riju. “What did they do to you?”
He stares, unable to process. What is she doing here? Why—how—
“Let’s get you out of there. Buliara took care of some of the guards, but we need to be quick.”
“Barta,” he rasps because the Gerudo shouldn’t be left here.
“Already free, and in better shape than you.” Riju is steadily working through a ring of keys on the lock, giving a little grunt when one works. She pulls the door open. “Once we get free, you can fly back to Gerudo Town and we’ll follow on sand seals.”
Link stares at her and shudders. Slowly, using the wall for support, he pulls himself to his feet. Everything aches and burns. Sharp stabs of pain on his back have him grunting, trying not to move his wing bones.
“Link? What happened to your wings?”
He only closes his eyes and shakes his head. He makes it across the cell and Riju backs up to let him out. Link doesn’t look at her face when he passes, but he hears her gasp at the sight of his back.
“Your wings. What…”
“Let’s go,” he rasps. If he ever comes back, he’s killing everyone in the base.
“Buliara was finding your supplies. Come on, we’ll see what we can do once we are free.”
The journey back is silent. At first, it’s for stealth, and then it’s because no one wants to address the topic of Link’s wings. The Gerudo may be wingless, but they have enough hylian visitors to understand the damage done.
The desert does little favors to his wounds. Sand sticks to the weeping burns, irritating with every brush of air. While they brought a potion, the wing skin needs to be cleaned of sand and dirt before healing will work. It does help his throat, at least, erasing the soreness.
Link follows Riju through a back entrance of the palace and down a series of corridors until they stop at a secluded room. There’s a large shallow pool, steadily fed with water flowing in and out through a trough in the floor. The shape is odd and, at Link’s questioning look, she explains.
“This was made with hylian wings in mind. Easier to bathe wings with room to spread them out. We…” she trails off and looks at Link, who stares back. “We need to clean your skin.”
“I can do it.”
Riju only shakes her head. “It’s okay to need help.”
“I can do it!” He clicks his teeth in an aborted snap. His wings start to rise, defensively before he freezes. Pain rolls across the damaged appendages, sinking burning claws deeper. It takes a long moment of breathing to get through it.
Buliara knocks and pokes her head on. “Does the voe need help?”
Link tenses further because if Riju was bad enough, Buliara isn’t even on the list.
Riju, ever perceptive, notices. “Nope! I’ve got it. Thanks, Buliara. Mind bringing some potions and burn cream?”
Her captain gives them both a hard look and makes a face, but retreats. Riju turns back to Link. “I’m afraid you’re stuck with me. Now, your back has to hurt something fierce. Let’s get you in the water, okay?”
She keeps up a steady chatter as she walks around him, nudging closer and gesturing as he automatically moves away. He’s herded to the pool where he finally pulls the remains of his pants off. Dressed in only his shorts—his shirt long gone—Link slips his feet into the water.
He can’t hold back the sigh of appreciation at the cool water; his legs may not be damaged, but it still feels nice. Then he slowly moves deeper, sitting in the water. Link’s feathers would normally be wet already, but now there’s only a strange lightness.
“In the water, Link. You need to clean the sand out and it will help the burning.”
Taking a deep breath, he makes up his mind and dunks himself backward, bringing his wings into the water. The water smacks his burns and he thrashes at the sensation, sending his head under the water. The tip of his wing bone smacks into the tile and he whines at the sensation.
Then Riju grabs his arms and yanks above the water, complete with a string of curses he’d bet good rupees Buliara isn’t aware her charge knows. “Link! Are you insane?”
He coughs to clear the last of the water. “Worked,” he grumbles. The burns on his back are positively snarling, but the parts that are under the water are slowly dulling the burning.
Riju sighs, small shoulder slumping. For all her maturity, she’s still young. She shouldn’t have to deal with this—with him. Link ducks his head. “Come on, turn around and let me see.”
Can he trust her? Does he have a choice? Finally, Link turns and presents his back for her inspection. She hums and he tenses, unable to help from glancing back to keep an eye on her.
“Some of these burns are going to scar, even with potion, but a lot of them will be hidden under feathers. Um. I need to wash some of this sand off before we use the potion. This will probably hurt, but I’ll be as gentle as I can, okay?”
He doesn’t want her anywhere near his back, but he doesn’t really have a choice. Link nods, although the chattering call of wary, danger, hurt repeats in a steady pattern. Gently, Riju wets a soft cloth and pats at the burns, trying to remove as much sand as possible. Despite the differences in situation, he flinches every time.
By the time Buliara comes back in, loaded down with bottles and creams, Link’s wounds are pronounced clean. He sits in the water, letting the coolness ease the burning. This time, Buliara and Riju work together to pour potions across his burns and dab them across his skin.
Only once does he ask, “My feathers?”
Buliara pauses, then continues her ministrations. “Give it time.”
Link nods and curls over his knees. Bare bone catches at the edge of his eyes where normally there’d be blue-gray feathers. Sickened at the sight, he closes his eyes. He’s alive and, for now, that has to be enough.

I would like to share the research I've conducted on the Gibdo (totk). Hopefully maybe just a few people will be a little less scared of them. And I am also incredibly hyperfixated on them and want to talk about them.
First of all, you are not required to fight them when they lie on the floor and take a nap.
You can safely walk around them in the full Yiga set or Sheikah Set. Sprinting however does actually wake them. You can also drop things such as weapons around them and they will not be waking up.
Note: When I tested sprinting some of them did wake up and others not. I am not sure what caused that. Maybe it was a bug.
You are also not required to kill them if you want the weapons on their bodies.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
You can even safely pluck the arrows and other weapons off of them when they're asleep or even when they're awake.
Note: Do not touch the Gibdo directly when you want to take a weapon off of them and they're awake. Even though they do not react much when they sleep, they do react to direct touch when they don't sleep. Make sure to stay behind them and remain out of sight.
Distractions such as food work for the Gibdo but not the same way as for other monsters.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
They will investigate whatever you've thrown them but they will not eat it and thus they will more quickly head back to their previous spots.
Note: As of right now I was not able to find out what they eat or if they do that at all. I tried some meat, fish, fruits and honey but thus far it seems they just skip eating entirely.
All of this research has been done on regular Gibdo, not the Moth Gibdo. Therefore I cannot guarantee if some of these things apply or don't apply to them as well.
Remember, they're just silly bug monsters and you can literally stroll past them. As a Gibdo appreciator, I can guarantee you that Bokoblins are more dangerous. Because Gibdo don't know how to wield weapons and usually don't run.
I hope you found my silly little research to be helpful.

(Not a request, just rambling here :’D)
Brain rot says:
What if reader were to get kidnapped.
Some poor, unlucky soul (maybe someone from the Yiga Clan) somehow slips past the chain’s defenses and bam! Manages to snatch reader away. He thinks “hah, this will lure in Link and we’ll finally end his life” and reader is like “I don’t think that’s gonna work-“
“Why not?”
“Well, cuz it’s not just one... it’s eleven...”
Cue, poor bastard looks up and sees 11 absolutely feral Links ready to m u r d e r
(“No wait hold on we can talk about it-“)
Cuz i just wanna see them react (who’d lose it, who’s trying to think things through and make a plan but is shaking w anger and so-) to reader being taken and how they’d react when reader is finally safe and back w them (who’d cry or hug reader so hard it almost hurts or who’d immediately cover them in kisses to reassure himself that they actually got reader back)
-🌱
🌱anon!
Poor Yiga ;-; Not really though. Like that had to either be some expert level planning on their part OR Hylia blessed them with ulta-good luck just to see how it would play out.
FBOBFF READER JUST STRAIGHT UP-
(Picture if you will,
"I only count ten?-"
Sage just fucking comes out of nowhere, tackling whichever Yiga is closest.)
Time is a planner at heart. He gets so scarily quiet that the others have no choice but to just stand and listen when he does speak. And when he does it's a succint and well thought out plan that doesn't leave room for survivors. And when Reader is back in their arms? He's doubling patrols, circling the Reader when they travel, there is no window of opportunity for it to happen again.
Wars is another planner. But he's almost frantic about it. Like, in his Hyrule, he's always on a time limit. So in this, he's on an even bigger time limit to get Reader back. He's pressuring himself to make their time apart as small as possible. And when Reader is back, he's vigilant in watching over them. Constantly. They very rarely ever leave his sight (even when they think they do).
Sky probably panics at first, just a bit. But the panic doesn't last long before it's turning into a bloodthirsty rage. He did in fact kill a God. He has that anger within him. Now imagine what he would do to a few measly Yiga. And he's never letting go of Reader. He's holding them to his chest at every given opportunity, clinging to them.
Legend knows what he wants to do the second the news spreads to him. He's ready to leave and damn near does, if not for Twilight. But he's a silent, and deadly type of dangerous. They probably don't even see him coming before he's taking them out. He's a lot like Wars in the sense that he doesn't let them out of his sight afterwards. Ever. Marin left him once and he will not let Reader do the same.
Hyrule is the one who's panicking. Of course, he probably has some form of fairy magic that can track Reader down, he's probably more worried about them getting hurt or sick or dying. Are they cold? Are they hungry? He should've been there. If he had only been better this wouldn't have happened. He's constantly checking over the Reader the second they're back, making sure they never stray far and that he's always within arm's reach.
Four is planning as well. Only his are so...violent that even the rest of the chain have to be like '...Dude.' He's erratic and best and downright versatile. He can't settle, every color flipping through his head over and over, screaming at him to do this or do that. He's also the type to scold Reader, out of love of course, and demand they stick close to one of them at All times.
Twilight is trying to keep the chain together. They are falling apart at the seams and he's desperately trying to hold them together because he knows that it's his best chance at getting them back. But you better believe he is just as angry, just as vicious, just as blood thirsty as they are. Wolfie becomes a staple after the fact because wolfie can get away with tearing into someone's gullet right then and there. Twilight...Not so much.
Wind is Freaking Out. That's his nibling/parent/idk you pick! And they're just...gone? He's running around, demanding they jump into action, and yelling threats when they aren't moving fast enough for his liking. Much like Sky, he is all over Reader when they're returned. Him and Sky probably get into a fight fifbnf
Wild uses his Sheikah sensor. It can track things he takes pictures of, and you know that he has pictures of Reader. He's also ripping, ready to go, just barely remaining there-- only being pinned by Twilight's gaze on him. And when they're back? He's making them whatever comfort food they wish and is practically at their beck and call. whatever they need and he is all too happy to get it for them.
Cal is internally panicking. On the outside, he still has that flat, stone faced look, but he's ready to fucking cry. He misses Reader so much. And is wiling to do anything to get them back. And when they are? Congrats! You've just got a new, full time body guard! He's your new shadow. There anytime you need it. <3
Sage is gone. The second the news spreads, he's gone. He's leaving. He's on the hunt. Out of all of them, he's the most dangerous in that moment. You can't hurt him when he's like that. He has one train of thought and nothing is stopping him. He's not like the others in the sense that when Reader is back, he's not immediately all over them. He needs to cool down. However, late at night? He's crawling into Reader's bed mat and wrapping his arms around them, kissing their neck and promising that it would never happen again.

How did Link's dad become a commander?
OOOOH yes!! That is a story and a half to tell!
I dubbed this story as "The Yiga Conspiracy". And it is partially inspired by HW: Age of Calamity!
Particularly with the Yiga Incident quest in the town at the base of the Great Plateau and involves Astor who is a Hylian priest in the BotW timeline but was slowly corruped by the leaking Malice/Gloom. Especially after receiving a divine prophecy of the Calamity's return that earned him the title of "Prophet" and later "Fortune teller".
And this is what Astor looks like:
Tumblr media
-
So how Link's dad - Jun Satoru - became the Commander of the Royal Guard started with his first meeting with Astor when Link was 6-7 years old.
At the time, Link's mother - Selene Somerset - had passed away from a deadly sickness. And around the same time, the Queen of Hyrule (aka Zelda's own mother) had also suddenly passed away. Jun was already a Royal Guard knight around this time but due to the Queen's sudden death, Jun was having a hard time finding a Hylian priest to perform the funeral rites for his wife's burial. And that's where he met Astor who offered his services.
Jun did recognise Astor as the "Prophet" and one of the advisers tin the Royal Court. He was surprised that Astor wanted to help him when many of the Bishops and Priests were busy with preparing for the Queen's funeral. Astor simply said that the Queen's passing wasn't his sole priority and that there were others like Jun and his family who are also going through their own losses. And he simply wanted to help.
After the funeral and cremation, Jun thanked Astor for his services and gained the impression that Astor, despite his prestige role and title, the Hylian Priest was a quiet and reserved man who was diligent with his faith.
Fast forward to 4-5 years later...
Jun has raisen up the ranks of the Royal Guards and has been promoted to becoming the Commander's assistant / right-hand man. The Commander around this time was an older man named Garrett Louton ( @garryktevar's OC) and he looks like this:
Tumblr media
At the time, there was a raise of monster activity as well as sightings of Yiga activity near and around Central Hyrule with rumours that they plan to target members of the Royal Family. So Commander Garrett had put Jun in charge of investigating the Yiga Clan and their movements.
During the 5th Death Anniversary of the Queen, although a small private affair for King Rhoam and his then 11 year old daughter, Princess Zelda. Jun was present during the small ceremony as one of the Royal Guard knights in charge of their security. It was around this time that he met Astor again. This time, Astor was a Bishop and looked more sickly than the last time Jun saw him.
After the event, Jun noticed that Bishop Astor started to pay more attention to him for whatever reason. And then the stranger and deadlier encounters started happening. And in one incident, Jun was ambushed by a group of Yiga Assassins, disguised as regular civilians within the walls of the Castletown. Something about him being "the prophesied Hero". Jun however was able to deal with the Assassins with his own Flurry Rush ability.
Though an interrogation, Jun finds out that these Yigas were taking orders from a figure named the "Fortune Teller" and after some detective work, he was able to shadow one disguised Yiga member into the abandoned underground sections beneath Castletown and found the Yiga's hidden Castletown base.
Along with Astor, who appears just like his AoC versions and was holding the same Ancient Gear Orb that was glowing with Malice.
With this new and shocking information, Jun reports to Commander Garrett about Astor's true nature and allegience with the Yiga Clan. The Commander then reports to the King who was just as shocked by the betrayal and orders for Bishop Astor's arrest for treason. Jun was put in charge of Bishop Astor's arrest and confronts him in the Catherdral in Castletown.
But when the Bishop was confronted, it was then Astor decided to reveal his true character and unleash his Malice powers. And this display of corruptive power was the signal to the Yiga Incident in Castletown where multiple members of the Yiga, disguised as civilians, began to attack the town.
When this happened, a 10 year old Link and his sister, Aria were also in Castletown with their Uncle Rakurai. They were there to visit their Dad in Castletown from their hometown of Hateno Village when they all got caught up in the sudden Yiga attack. Their Uncle Rakurai - who was a fast moving Army courier - was quick to protect his niece and nephew.
At some point, as Jun rushes through the now besieged town to got back to the Castle, he meets up with Rakurai and Aria but Link was missing...
Tumblr media
...Link had been cornered to an dead end alley by a pair of Yiga Assassins and was only holding a wooden sword. When his Dad, Jun comes to his rescue and was able to take down the Yiga Assassins in a blink of an eye. To Link's awestruck amazement, to see how fast and powerful his Dad was.
Once he was sure that his two kids are safe, Jun and his fellow Royal Guard immediately rushed back into the Castle which was also inflicted by Yiga assassins who disguised themselves as servants and low-ranked soldiers. But thanks to Jun's earlier investigations, the Royal Guard knights under the directive of Commader Garrett were able to quell much of their efforts but there have been a few close calls including one incident where Princess Zelda had to be whisked away by Sheikah warriors.
In the end, under King Rhoam's lead, they confronted the now Malice-powered Astor in the Great Hall area with both Commander Garrett and Jun along with a bunch of Royal Guard and Army knights to confront the corrupted Astor who was using his Malice Gear-Orb to summon monsters and Malice clones of soldiers.
It was a hard fought battle where Commander Garrett was severely injured after taking a hard blow from a Malice attack.
And it was during this fight that Jun finds out why Astor was so fixated on him - and it was from a brief vision that Astor foresaw of a future Jun holding the fabled "Sword that Sealed the Darkness".
But in the end, King Rhoam ends the fight when he destroyed Malice Gear-Orb. The corrupted artefact's destruction caused Astor's body to be consumed by the Malice from within and implodes into ashes. (Ganondorf's laugh echoing in air).
And that ends the Yiga Conspiracy Incident.
In its aftermath, the remaining Castletown-based Yiga members were either arrested or fled to their main base in the Gerudo Desert. Commander Garrett, due to his injuries, was forced to retire and chose Jun to be his successor as the new Commander of the Royal Guard.
And that's the story of how Link's Dad became the Commander.
Link was 11 years old when he was present in the small ceremony for his Dad becoming the new Royal Guard Commander. And was determined to become a powerful knight just like him!
One year later... Link found the Master Sword.

It's the same anon that send in the previous royal! Reader ask with reader being betrothed. I saw that your requests were open and I wanted to see if you could write headcanons regarding that same topic. I didn't want to put it in the previous ask because it got a bit too long.
The whole royalty reader idea gets more interesting depending on which zelda/link you're with.
Give me a duo who had an arranged marriage with you before the calamity. Spending so much time with their sweet bride and refusing to let you even think about helping out in the war. You can try to fight them about how you're capable and able to do more to defend their country and cry you might but they refuse to let you do anything about it. To them you're so much better suited to waiting the war out while they take care of it. Zelda often takes you to the springs with her, just knowing you're there while she prays alleviates her anxiety. The goddess has to hear her cries when youre by her side. Who could ignore such a sweet soul?
Link likes this as well. Being able to watch both of you helps him relax. Having you away from him not knowing if any yiga rats might hurt you tears him apart. It is his duty to protect you and his princess. Keeping you close by is the best way to make sure you're safe. Even if the lack of privacy may hurt your feelings it is absolutely necessary. Tying the knot between you and Zelda helped with relations between your two nations. The extra help with the war was sweet but having you as her prize was the real victory- even if no one ever heard how badly she wanted to just have you.
Zelda loves it when you help with the guardians. She can't spend all of her time studying them so having you do it and talking about it over tea and while travelling really makes her happy. Listening to your sweet voice go over the numbers and talk about how her plans are going along well just sounds so much sweeter when coming from your lips. The extra help with her other more mundane tasks like hair braiding and just the slow sweet domestic moments are her greatest pleasure. The way you help with domestic affairs was the whole point of the marriage after all.
Link feels a bit off while witnessing those moments but the way Zelda smiles when she looks at you makes up for all of it. He loves seeing the two of you being so happy. He smiles and finds that even your aura is enough to bring out the best in him. It's hard for him to keep such a cold demeanour when you're breaking down all of his walls.
. . .
Post calamity these two would be a handful. For multiple reasons. I didn't mention it much before but you are always at Zelda’s side or in a location they are ok with you being at, such as the castle. After the calamity it's hard to keep you pent up in one house all the time and even travelling with them isn't safe. Plus it's been one hundred years and they're not the same people they once were.
Flora lost you once and was convinced as she sent Link to the shrine of resurrection and as the two of you were separated that you were dead. She used the memory of who she was fighting for to help fuel her energy in the fight against holding the calamity back. Fighting the years away she awoke and found the most beautiful sight waiting to greet her. Her heart was so over flowing it felt like everything that happened up to this point was all worth it. Losing you was too much to remember most days. Yet here you were. Wild taking up the mantle of guardian you again.
The new hero is certainly different. That much is easy to tell. He doesn't really remember you and his tendencies to always have to keep you in his line of sight are gone the first time you meet. He truly doesn't remember you. After such a long time, who can blame him but it still hurts you a bit. All Wild can recall is that you were a visiting royal who stayed at the castle. How you managed to live for so long, you explained it was all simple luck (magic, being put in the shrine of resurrection with link, Purahs anti aging device, idk maybe love or the calamity did it in hopes you would fall to the malice but you never did).
You spent your time adventuring and travelling with Wild. Hoping to rescue the princess and put an end to the calamity that you witnessed destroy everything ages ago. The dynamic changes a lot. You and Wild have spent a lot of time together and even after rescuing Flora he isn't willing to let go of you. The Link who died had to stand by because he couldn't mess with the royal wedding but there's no need to keep himself away anymore.
There was a time seeing the two of you being so close would have made her jealous, now however? She found seeing the two of you quite calming. Wild's yandere tendencies make her feel secure. She doesn't have to worry about your safety as Wild has obviously gotten ground rules set down that you follow. They're both so overprotective of you but it's clear to see why. Flora can get a bit jealous of the two of you; but who wouldn't be after seeing the way you smile? The jealousy never lingers but it does make her feel sorry about what happened. The life she promised you, the kingdom she was going to rule with you, and all of the plans for the future. It's all gone. She can no longer give you what she once was going to.
As the two of you spend more time together and rekindle what was there it only fuels her love for you. It cements the fact that you married her for her. Not for her title, not for the kingdom, not any of it. For her. You want her. You went so far as to help Wild save her. All for love. She considers the two of you still married and would love to redo your vows.
. . .
Age of calamity Fauna and Calamity. This link is far more stern. There's a literal war going on. He can't spend his time always on the lookout for you. He needs you to stay put as far away from the front line as possible. Fauna lets Calamity do the stern talking but she gets in on it as well when you start to pull the royalty card to try and regain some of your freedom. It's not like you're going far, but it's still so dangerous and they can't bear to lose you. Once Fauna unlocks her powers she gets an aura around her, in truth though she couldn't care less about unlocking her powers. All she wants is for this war to be over a day sooner. She can't wait until this war is behind her so she can just live a normal life with you.
Keeping you by her side all the time and spending her days in the castle while you share stories with her is all she truly wants. Calamity’s goal is the same. He just wants to put this all behind him so he can finally figure out who he is without all of this hero business. Fauna has no issues with sharing you between the two as they have spent so much time together that there's really nothing he can hide from her, and her from him. Your life after the war is much like it was before just with two very needy yanderes who have to have your attention at all times.
. . .
Time would love for nothing more than to take you away. He loves to have you visit him at work when hes with the knights or at the farm. Seeing your down to earth and kind personality as a royal makes him feel secure in the kingdom's future. Due to this part of the timeline being the one where he was sent back to a kid before Ganon betrayed Hyrule. The hero wasn't needed and Zelda never let Ganon into the sacred realm so he feels… sort of odd. He enjoys your company and adores being able to talk about being a hero around you without feeling strange about the whole ordeal. You're so hypnotising he's always at such a loss for words around you. In a sense he knows he's the one who should be treating you like royalty but there is one small issue. You Are to be wed to Lullaby.  He knows you're more than friends but he can't just take you away because to do so would upset your marriage; and he can't stretch the truth to Malon and say he kidnapped the princess. That's what Ganon did; but he can't live in this fantasy world while wishing you were his. He lets this eat him up inside until he eventually talks to his Zelda about it but it's a hard topic.
Lullaby seems loyal and regal and in royal gossip there is this air of her being holier than thou but it's all air. An aura. She doesn't do anything like that at all. In fact part of what drew you to her was how down to earth she is. She's a very multilayered person. She works day and night both as princes but mostly as a sheikah warrior. While exposing Ganon as a traitor she can't be sure his influence is fully gone. She needs stability and power and she has about ten different jobs to get down and they all need to be done by now. She needs someone all the time. Someone who can help her. To comfort her when she cries, to rub her back when she's sick, to be there with her when she prays, she needs a friend and ally and someone to help her spar. She sees how willing you are to help and she latches onto that. The love of her life just showed up out of the blue and now everything feels so much easier. The problems fade away as the hours pass when you're by her side.
Once you've started to help her she's already planning to get her claws in you and never let go. Deals and money exchanges hands all the time and if she gets her own a bit dirty who can prove it was really her and not Sheik? Lullaby is the type to not realise how far gone she is in her obsession with you until she's already planning on how others might need to die and realises “oh, this wasn't on my schedule yesterday.” and she snaps out of it for a moment and it hits her like a ton of bricks. She LOVES loves you. It hits her how much she can't stand to lose you. The light of her life is not even the gods could keep her from you now. As long as you're married your bond will be eternal but she can't help but want more to do with you. She lets Time in to help protect you and watch over you, and to keep you busy when she's not around- but she has to come first in the relationship. She can share but not when she wants you, only when she can't be there right now. She’ll let him in when she's not there and sees it as thanks for keeping you safe but Lullaby can't bear to see how close you are if you two haven't done something together yet. She can't stand to feel like second best.
. . .
Artemis is a troublemaker. Not because she is by heart but because she wants a domestic life but she just cant afford it. She is wealthy enough, but her kingdom just suffered from a war. Your marriage was chosen just as much for political gain as it was her hope for a loving partner. She is a hopeless romantic and often vents to Link and Impa and has them weigh in on who they think would be a good choice. She is very picky and settles on you after a few tests and invites you over only to realise you have such a good heart. You don't act like those other nobles and you care a lot for the people. Is it meant to try and test you by setting up scenarios to fall into your hands? Even as she does so she watches from the corner as a spy does it for her and she just prays seeing you prove yourself time and time again.
Although Artemis wants the picture perfect life nothing in her Hyrule is picture perfect right now. No matter how hard she works there is always something else that needs to be done. TWhen she meets you she's caught off guard. It all seems too soon for the perfect person ever to walk in while she's still trying to recover. She built up her walls so much that when she meets you and you're perfect she realises she's now a major red flag. More so as she starts to plan on how to trap you into marrying her. Suddenly she's nervous and wiping sweat off of her hands and trying so hard to act casual but she cant be after seeing how your eyes look and you're so gorgeous, is it too soon to take a bite out of you? Handling her is handling seven different bombs that are all going to go off at different times and cause six different sized explosions. A lot of fun for people who enjoy that type of chaos but unfortunately she makes peace with the fact that you two will never have a picture perfect relationship on the inside. She craves you too badly to play nice.
Warrior is just as bad as Artemis is sometimes. He has seen far too much war to feel ok and the thoughts and feelings of everything he saw and went through weigh heavy on him. He needs comfort and finds so much of it in you. When on his late night walks he finds himself at your door. Having walked to you without even realising it. Artemis is jealous of him at first but she softens as soon as she sees the way he relaxes around you. She can't be mad at him; she just can't stand to see the two of you alone. As long as she's there to comfort him as well she doesn't mind, although Link would like some alone time he can't push her on this. The two of them both want you but can't stand to let the other just have you without a fight, and neither of them are up for anymore fighting.
. . .
Ok that's all the ones I have for now, I wish I could have written more because there so many small details that I think would really shine in a long form writing or a one shot but I don't have the time for that my lunch break is almost over... I loved this so much I hope it makes sense. I focused more on how the dynamic plays between the two rather than them both sharing you, but that's because I think its so much more interesting! I would love to write more about this soon

Round 1: Guy (A3! Act! Addict! Actors!) vs Link (Legend of Zelda)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
[Propaganda Under Cut]
Guy: it's kinda hard to talk about guy without spoilers from a3’s main story act 8 so yeah take caution. anyway guy is introduced as a bodyguard from the fictional south asian kingdom of zahra, of which citron is the crown prince. it’s a very long complicated story but basically citron fled from zahra before his coronation ceremony was to take place and planned on travelling around the world for a while, but he ended up in japan and decided to stay bc he got roped into joining a theatre troupe (most normal thing in a3 tbh). guy spent a year scouring the ends of the earth to find him and finally did so in act 8, which speaks to his dedication to protecting his liege. also guy is introduced as an android which is a whole other thing
anyway guy is super-duper capable! he’s fluent in english, japanese, and zahran; he can fight and handle weaponry; he’s good at karate and teaches one of the other main characters karate; he can act; and later on in the story he even opens his own bar, meaning he can cook and mix drinks!
also his loyalty to citron is unparalleled. in act 8, citron returns to zahra on his own volition—but plot twist he leaves guy on his own and guy can’t return bc citron falsely branded him as a criminal and accused him of kidnapping him which was why he was missing from the kingdom for a year (citron had some complicated reasons for doing so but it wasn’t out of malice). stuck with nowhere else to go, guy decided to join the theatre troupe that citron was part of—the MANKAI company—and he spent a good portion of the story act trying to figure out what’s going on in citron’s mind. eventually he and the sub-troupe he joined—the winter troupe—successfully put on a complete run of their adaptation of ‘phantom of the opera’ where guy played the phantom. even so, guy wasn’t satisfied and still wanted to see citron and show citron his acting, so with the help of the other MANKAI members (one of whom forged a passport for guy so he wouldn’t be arrested on sight upon going through customs in zahra), guy and like 12 other people go to the kingdom of zahra as performers for citron’s coronation ceremony, where eventually guy gets to reunite with citron. it’s all very complicated but citron doesn’t ascend to the throne and is instead appointed the minister of arts and culture and is told by the king to return to japan and continue learning about the arts at the MANKAI company so he can bring back what he learned to improve zahra’s art scene. and even though citron is no longer a prince, guy still vows to stay by citron and watch over him bc their bond goes beyond just a prince and retainer 🥹
Link: HE FOUGHT THE INCARNATION OF EVIL TWICE FOR HER!! granted he did fail first those two times, and his ward became a light spirit god thing to hold said evil back the first time, and for the second she time-traveled back >10k years and became a dragon, but he did fight ganon!
anyways link was assigned as zelda's personal guard for a While. we dont know how long ago it was, but it's probably a span of 1-2 years pre-ganon. if we include the ganon years and the time travel then it's been +10k years. he does a fantastic job of it, he saves her from yiga (assassins) and the incarnation of evil (ganon, twice). they become friends. they bond. zelda tries to feed him a frog. link actually dies for zelda and then he comes back to save her. he catches zelda as she turns back to human

Breath of the wild Dark Link au
I’ve been playing with this au on and off for literal years, but haven’t posted much in the way of writing for it, and I wanted to change that lol. This is just a bit of it, so it’s a little out of context, but I really just wanted to finally post some.
The au takes place after botw, but only by a few months, so totk isn’t mentioned or referenced at all (plus I haven’t played it lol so I’m more or less ignoring it here). Here it is, enjoy.
——————————————————————————————————
Link shivered as he absently plucked a stem of cool safflina and tucked it in his pouch, his breath coming out in a puffy cloud of steam in front of him. It was frigid up here, and even with the snowquill tunic’s gloves he could barely feel his fingers.
He’d been prowling around the edges of the Yiga base for a few hours now, and it was nearly dark, the temperature dropping to downright dangerous levels. He’d promised Zelda he wouldn’t sneak inside the base itself on this particular trip, but the lack of movement he’d so far observed was both concerning and boring. Nobody had seen any members of the cult since the attack where he’d been injured, not even the Gerudo, and they were practically next-door neighbors.
And that, along with the curse that had attacked Link, was too suspicious to ignore.
Link sighed, trying to rub some feeling into his fingers. Maybe since he’d survived the curse or whatever it had been in his injury, the Yiga had all decided to just give up on worshipping Ganon and trying to kill him, and were now living their lives as model citizens of Hyrule.
He snorted to himself. Right. And maybe they’ve started a shelter for homeless wolf pups.
A faint noise brought by the wind tickled his ear, and Link looked around for its origin, his hand going his sword. His eyes caught sight of a few figures far below him, and he felt a flicker of excitement, pulling out his slate and activating the scope feature. Flurries of snow were being blown around, making it a bit difficult to see, but when he zoomed in he could make out two Yiga footsoldiers standing next to a blademaster, the larger one holding a dark bundle of some kind.
Link frowned and tried to get a better look. This proved that the Yiga were still active, but what would they be carrying all the way up here? The soldiers below him weren’t very close to their base, and it was stupidly cold in this area. Maybe they were dumping banana peels or something? But why trek all the way up here?
The blademaster dropped the bundle to the ground, then reached for his windcleaver, lifting the blade high. Link startled as the bundle moved slightly, but a footsoldier put out a leg to kick it, and it fell still.
And that was when Link realized the bundle was a person.
Snapping his slate to his belt without a second thought, Link leapt off the ridge he was on, paraglider in hand. He was too far away to shoot any arrows without risking hitting the bundle, and all he could do was watch as the blademaster plunged his sword downwards. A muffled cry reached Link’s ears, and the blademaster removed his sword, crimson spattering the snow.
Outrage burned in Link’s chest, and now that he was close enough, he focused, drawing his bow and firing three arrows near simultaneously at the Yiga.
Two hit the first footsoldier as Link landed with a roll and unsheathed his sword in one swift movement, and the other arrow struck the blademaster in the shoulder. Link leapt forward at the large man, who deflected his blade with his own blood-stained one, and a small gust puffed from it as they clashed.
The first footsoldier had vanished into paper as soon as Link had hit him with the arrows, but the other had joined the fight, and the blademaster was stubbornly continuing to attack despite his own arrow wound, deflecting all of Link’s advances.
Link shot a glance towards the bundle on the ground, and felt a twist in his gut at the large amount of blood staining the snow.
Whoever was there didn’t have long if they were still alive.
He gritted his teeth and quickly swapped weapons, exchanging his royal guard sword for an ice rod. Ignoring the burst of cold that suddenly enveloped him, he dodged a thrust by the blademaster and flicked his wrist, sending a cloud of freezing magic in the Yigas’ direction.
It didn’t catch the blademaster all the way, but Link managed to get most of his left side, sending him reeling with the sudden freeze. The remaining footsoldier was frozen completely in place, and Link switched back to his sword as he jumped forward, whirling into a spin attack that knocked both of his adversaries backwards with a shattering crash of ice.
The footsoldier and blademaster looked at each other as they stumbled to their feet, then waved their hands in a complicated pattern, disappearing into the same paper as their earlier companion without a word.
Link breathed out a sigh of relief that clouded out in front of him, then turned to the motionless figure on the ground.
He wasted no time in sliding to his knees beside the Yiga's victim, grabbing in his bag for a fairy tonic. He didn’t have any of the actual creatures with him, a tonic made with their help would have to be enough. Pulling the blanket out of the way, Link prepared to give who he could now see was a teenager the bright pink liquid.
But he stopped short at the figure he’d uncovered, blood running cold.
His own face met him.
Link stared down at himself, brain refusing to believe what it was seeing.
Same nose, same mouth... the eyes were squeezed shut with pain, but he assumed they were the same as well. His skin lacked Link’s vast scar collection, and was a fair bit paler and gaunt, missing his own tanned color, but the main difference was his jet-black hair instead of Link’s own gold. And even then the color was really the only difference; it was the same length, though matted and dirty, even cut nearly the same.
Link swallowed.
This couldn’t be a coincidence. Not with everything that had happened with his injury and him and Zelda. This... this lookalike, must be connected somehow, to the wound, to him, to the Yiga...
...why had the Yiga tried to kill him?
His double whimpered, and Link snapped back to himself, shaking off his whirling thoughts.
Right. Injury. Questions could come later.
Link pulled the blanket further back so he could see what exactly he was dealing with, and breathed in sharply at the stab wound in his double’s stomach bleeding everywhere. He wasn’t wearing any clothes besides a pair of worn-out trousers, already stained with blood, and Link shook his head in dismay when he felt his freezing skin.
Link pressed the blanket back atop the injury with one hand in order to staunch the blood flow, and hopefully warm him a bit, and tried to ignore the unsteady gasp that came from his double at the pressure. He quickly uncorked the fairy tonic, then tilted his double’s head up to help him drink it. It took a few tries for him to coax his mouth open, but the pained noises coming from him slowed as Link finally helped him drink.
The hand that had been scrabbling weakly at the injury finally stilled, a weak sigh escaping him once the medicine was gone. One fairy tonic wasn’t enough to heal an injury of this caliber, but it would keep him alive long enough to get him somewhere safe.
...should he bring him somewhere safe?
Link hesitated as he looked at his double, biting his lip uncertainly.
He didn’t know a thing about the Hylian in front of him, other then the fact that they looked nearly identical to each other, and that the Yiga had tried to get rid of him. The second point was pretty indicative of the fact that they were at least both enemies of the Yiga, but... that didn’t necessarily mean they were allies either.
Was it safe to bring him to Hateno?
His double made a small noise of discomfort, and Link sighed, looking at all the blood in the snow. Even if he did mean them harm, he wouldn’t be able to do anything to them now, not with how injured he was.
Mind made up, Link made sure the flow of blood had truly slowed before gently lifting his double up, noting again with some worry how utterly cold he felt. He was also extremely lightweight, which he supposed made carrying him easier, but was yet another thing to be concerned about.
Link tucked the dry parts of the blanket as best he could around him, and started in surprise when his double’s eyes abruptly slitted open.
They were a bright, startling red from what Link could tell of them, and it almost looked like they were glowing in the fading light. His double blinked hazily at him, but then his eyes slipped closed again and Link couldn’t be sure if he imagined the glow or not.
He studied him again and was struck once more with how identical they looked, something squeezing his throat for some reason.
They could be brothers for all he knew.
Link swallowed, and decided that thinking about the implications of this wasn’t his priority right now, despite how much he wanted to.
Adjusting his hold, he pulled out the sheikah slate with one hand and continued to hold the clone with his other, tapping the shrine on the outskirts of Hateno, right by his house. Zelda was waiting for him there, as were more medical supplies. Hopefully she would know what to make of this.
Blue tendrils of light wrapped themselves around him and his double, and Link held tight as he felt the familiar sensation of travel with the sheikah slate warp him away into temporary nothingness.
The only sign that anyone had been in the area was the still-warm blood staining the snow.

Stew Pot Plot pt 3
Alternate Prompt #9 Drugging -- Time, Everyone
TW -- nonconsensual drugging, unconsciousness
1009 words
******
Time gently lowered Warriors until he was sitting slouched in the ground and hurried to Epona.
“Up on your feet girl,” he urged. Epona grumbled and got up. Time threw the saddle blanket over her and picked up the saddle, surprised by its weight. When had it gotten so heavy? He heaved it onto her back and went to work on the buckles.
Time heard his name whispered and he turned around, blinking to try and force his eyes to focus and find the source of the call.
“Time…” Warriors said again, he lay down, his eyes barely open. Time knelt next to him, fighting the overwhelming urge to continue the motion and lay down.
“Warriors?” Time shook his shoulder, but Warriors eyes closed and he didn’t respond.
Time was alone.
He returned to Epona’s side. She watched him, dark eyes wide open and knowing something was awry. He put one foot in the stirrup and clutching the saddle horn, tried to haul himself up, but the world spun and he found himself laying on the ground with his ankle caught in the stirrup. He untangled his foot and his leg flopped to the ground as the drugs in his system stole the last of his strength. He tried desperately to force himself up again but he only succeeded in raising his head and shoulders off the ground by a few inches. He tried again, but he could barely move. Epona whinnied in alarm and nuzzled his hair with her lips.
“Old girl,” he raised his hand to pet her nose. “I need you to run. Run for help. I can’t make it… I need you to… run to the stable.” Epona whinnied again and shook her mane.
“Go!” Time said as loudly as he could manage. He slapped her leg and she grunted and jumped back a step in surprise.
“GO!” Time called and slapped her leg again. Epona neighed in distress and turned away. She cantered off saddled, unbridled, and riderless. Once she was out of sight, Time sighed and let his eyes close. He started to drift off, but the sound of footsteps pulled him out of oblivion.
“Are they all out?” A hushed and unfamiliar voice asked. Time cracked one of his eyes open just enough to see through his eyelashes. A pair of red-clad Yiga tiptoed between the sleeping heroes and the mess of their camp.
One of them kicked Sky’s leg but Sky didn’t flinch.
“Out cold,” the Yiga confirmed. “I told ya it would work. You owe me money.”
“Shut up. Let’s just grab the hero and get out of here before anyone sees.”
“Which one is it? They’re all blond.”
“That one’s not blond. His hair’s brown.” One of the Yiga pointed to Hyrule.
“Nah, it’s blond too. Trick of the light.”
“It is too brown! Light brown. Like the color of your underwear, hahaha!”
“You shut your mouth. My underwear is pristine. Unlike yours!”
“Hey!”
“Back to business. One o’ these unlucky bastards is the hero, we just gotta figure out which—ooh! Nice pocketbook! I’ll just take that off you, hehehe.” The Yiga bent down, collected Warriors’ wallet and pocketed it.
“How’re we supposed to do that? They all look like the hero!”
“What do you mean? Surely one of them is the hero! Do you not know what the hero looks like?”
“Why would I know? I’ve never seen him! Haven’t you seen him?”
“How could I have seen him? I’ve been on storeroom duty since I joined! This is my first mission!”
Time was incredulous. These two inept fools were the assassins after Wild and Flora? Sure they’d managed to drug all the heroes to sleep, but they seemed ill-prepared to carry out the rest of their task.
Strangely though, Time suddenly realized, he hadn’t passed out yet. Sure he was exhausted, weak, and groggy but he was awake and aware. Perhaps he hadn’t had enough of a dose…? Whatever the reason, he had to take advantage of it to stop the Yiga… but how? He knew he couldn’t take the Yiga in a fight in his current condition, but maybe one of his magical items or masks…? Time struggled to remember what equipment he had on his person and formulate a plan.
“Do you think Master Khoga would be mad if we brought all of them back?” One of the Yiga asked.
“Of course he would! We don’t have enough bananas to be feeding… 1, 2, 3… 8 more mouths!”
“Can’t you count? There’s nine of them here.”
“Yes I know, but once we figure out which one is the hero, he won’t be around long enough to eat any bananas.”
“You got a point. But what about the extras?”
“Don’t know, don’t care. They’ll probably push them down the bottomless pit.”
A spike of worry lanced through Time’s gut. Epona hadn’t returned with help yet—how long had it been since he sent her off? It was up to him to stop the capture and murder of the youth he held dear. He didn’t have his bag of items on him nor his armor or weapons and he didn’t think he could retrieve any of them from his pile of possessions without being stopped by the Yiga. So what could he do??
“I like the way you think sometimes. Alright then, we’ll take all of them, teleporting them out two by twos.”
“There’s an odd number of them… one of us is goin’ to have to make an extra trip and it ain’t gonna be me.”
Time surreptitiously moved his hand to his belt and felt around for—yes! His ocarina! But what to play? He could summon a storm or… no! He knew exactly which song to play.
“What if the extra is the hero? Wouldn’t you want to be the one to bring him in?”
“… you got me. I think… that one’s the hero. The shrimp in blue with the scruffy hair. Save him for last.” The Yiga pointed at Wind.
“Fine. Now let’s get cracking.”
(To be continued tomorrow...)

Note
Abel felt his nose regain touch with the world first. The smell of sweat, rust and sickly sweet rotting fruit was not a pleasant one to wake up to. He felt his sluggish thoughts race along with his thoughts once he registered the cold prick of metal on his neck. Wide awake in yet another nightmare Abel looked through his eyelashes, seeing something sharp being held threateningly against his neck. He managed to glance to his left under the guise of a lolling head with his captor’s swaying movement. His heart stopped as Ice filled his veins, the sight of Tilleth her head bowed, looking broken in the dusty light of the Yiga stronghold, was this some cruel trick? Tilleth was strong, far stronger than Abel had ever been, always finding some small joy even when the world was literally collapsing around them. He never stopped admiring how she kept going, kept being a light and a pillar in the ugly and dark world that Abel had become well acquainted with. Then the Idiot in red behind him finally stopped talking, and Abel realized that kneeling before them was Fierce, far too large for the small cavern they were in. Before the shock of seeing his stupidly strong but well meaning companion on his knees could sink in, he heard a whoosh and a thud behind him. The pressure on his neck was gone and Abel was quick to stand up . . . Only to tilt too far as the ringing of metal assaulted his ears, the dust of the cave suddenly clogging his airways, but none of that mattered! Where was Tilleth, was she–  He found her, beautiful with dirt smeared in her hair and clothes torn beyond repair, his face lifting in a smile without permission to gaze upon his golden light. Then his mouth opened in horror at the red-clothed traitor raising a blood stained sickle behind her. His arm raised as though he could reach her before the blade, but a large stick was thrown with terrifying precision into the Yiga’s head, the sickle falling from his hand shearing part of Tilleth’s beautiful blonde in a last disrespectful act from its owner. Blinking at the sudden quiet, Abel jumped when he was touched only to breathe a sigh of relief that it was only Rusl, where had he come from? Next he knew they were emerging into painfully blinding sunlight, With Abel nearly being drug by the blacksmith until the fierce deity simply scooped up Abel.
didn't get to the point i was envisioning earlier, but enjoy what's flowed from my fingers during my break! now back to the homework grind :D
AH I adore this, Abel's thoughts on Tilieth are *chef's kiss* mwuah

Last Day
If I knew this was going to happen, I would have woken up earlier. I wouldn’t have slept in and I wouldn’t have been late packing. I would have cooked wildberry crepes for breakfast and I wouldn’t have pushed away Wind’s hug.
I thought today…was supposed to be a nice day.
~~~
The enemy marked on the map isn’t a stone talus. It’s a white-maned Lynel and it greets them with a fireball that carves a path through the snow.
“Run!”
The group sprints and then scatters as arrows rain down from above.
“Shields!” Time yells, and the group scrambles to hold up protection. “Wild! Where can we go?”
Wild risks a glance behind him. The ground shudders with the thud of giant hooves. “I can take him?” It comes out as a question instead of a statement.
“No way, cub! You’re not taking that on without backup—duck!” Twilight nearly tackles Wild, pulling him out of the way of an arrow that hits his previous positions. “Better plan, get us out of here!”
Where can they go? The Gerudo Highlands are stepped with rocks, making it difficult to descend quickly. There’s little out here except the Yiga Hideout—
Wild abruptly changes directions. “Follow me!” It’s not close; not close enough for peace of mind, but it's closer than anything else out here. The lynel will let them go if they can get out of its sight.
The group trails after Wild, scrambling to accommodate the change of direction and still avoid arrows. Then they’re slipping and sliding down the first slope; snow cushioning the landing.
An arrow lands on the short plateau; still too close. “Keep going! Time!”
The last is because the old man has paused by Four, who’s swaying. An arrow is stuck in the shoulder of the tunic and, while it stopped the worst of the damage, when Time pulls it free it comes out red.
Wild curses, pausing to pull out his bow and shoot back at the lynel. It won’t be enough to take it down, but enough to distract it, at least.
Then Legend’s there, yanking on his arm and nearly ruining the shot. “Wild! You’re the only one who knows where we’re going!”
Torn, Wild glances at the lynel and then over his shoulder. “We’re heading to the Yiga hideout!” He lets off another arrow, then spins to wave a hand in the right direction. “We’ve got to descend a few more of these rock steps before we reach it!”
Legend yanks until he starts moving. “Then lead! The rest of us can watch for the others.”
Wild starts moving.
The next few minutes are a blur of calls and shouts, scrambling feet, and cold rock under his fingertips. They bunch up at one part, needing those with hookshots to anchor themselves and descend with another. Sky can use his cape and Wind pulls out a Deku leaf.
Unfortunately, the pause means the lynel catches up again and an arrow catches Warriors in the back of the thigh. He grunts but doesn’t slow down.
They finally hit the ground, panting and limping, in some cases. Four moans, sliding to the ground. Hyrule rushes to his side, wrestling with the Snowquill armor to check his wound. Warriors grimaces as Time pokes lightly at his wound, checking the arrow.
“I can pull it out, but it’s going to hurt. I’ve got a potion, though.”
“When don’t arrow wounds hurt,” he grumbles back but accepts the bottle. Hyrule has Four covered.
“Wild?” Sky catches his eye. “You said something about a hideout?”
He nods, and signs because his chest is still heaving with exertion and adrenaline. ‘Yiga hideout. Well, an old one. I helped the Gerudo clear it out after the Calamity. We can rest there and be out of the cold before we figure out a plan forward.’
Time frowns, patting Warriors as he chugs the potion. “Are you sure it’s empty?”
Nodding, Wild manages a weak smile. ‘Very sure. Riju was motivated.’
“Well, that sounds like our best bet, so lead on.”
With a final deep breath to steady his heart, Wild turns to lead them further up the canyon.
“Isn’t Wild’s world exciting?” Wind pipes up.
“If you call near-death experiences exciting one more time, I’m going to re-screw your head on for you.”
