This is my first time writing anything remotely dark, (although I felt it was pretty tame in comparison with some other dark fics I've read and enjoyed) and I'm completely floored by the positive responses to this story. Thank you to everyone who read it on Halloween, and who has enjoyed it since. 🎃

This week's Self-Care with Dieter & Jett looked at bullying and how you can deal with bullies, and avoid inadvertently becoming one yourself.

And this week's Writer Wow shone the spotlight on the wonderfully talented - and equally wonderful person - that is @boliv-jenta Go give them some love.⭐️

Writing some more Christmas fics, have a bunch of GIFLETS lined up as always, and working on some one shots featuring Frankie Morales, Marcus Pike and Dave York.

I'm also getting soooo many ideas that my Google docs is a chaotic mess that I really need to put some order into. 🥴

☆ Things I've read this week

Head Shots - Chapter 4 - @secretelephanttattoo Everything about this series is so sweet and romantic, and has the perfect Marcus Pike in my opinion. I love how El perfectly places you, as the reader, in the scene so that you can literally see, hear and feel everything, and she manages to do it wonderfully. You must read this if you're an Agent Pike fan. Or any Pedro Boy fan, just read it. Thank me later. 🫠

Steep Is The Mountain - @sin-djarin Becca's Tim Rockford is just exquisite. Sexy, gruff, gun holsters... what more do you want from this handsome detective? I thoroughly enjoyed reading this and will deffo be re-visiting this when I have more hankerings for Rockford. The descriptives in this were utterly divine, and not just the smut. (Although that was scorching!) 🔥

The Haunting Of Dieter Bravo - @idolatrybarbie I have so many Halloween fics to catch up on, and reading this one was an absolute delight. I love how original and captivating this was, yet contained all the creep and dread that you want. And Dieter being Dieter, even though he's clearly spooked. This was a great read and I deffo recommend adding to your read list. Utterly spook-tacular! 👻

The Clink - @ramblers-lets-get-ramblin Let me tell you, if they had PrisonGuard!Javi P in prison, I think I would deliberately commit crimes to be locked up with him... This was hot AF. Damn hot, and in true Angela style, she captures the essence of that hotness and locks you up tight in it. Oof! 🥵

Juniper - @softlyspector This was an incredibly vivid read of Joel helping you get to sleep, in the only way Mr Miller can. And it was just delicious. I'm still thinking about this one, it's seared in my brain. 🫠

Hey There, City Boy - @sweetenerobert I had a fun cameo in Robert's Halloween Ghostface!Joel fic, and I'm still cackling about it now! Thank you, friend. The story was brilliantly hot and had that familial dread we've all come to know and love from the Scream franchise. And the smut was hella smutting for sure. Spooky Joel shenanigans aplenty! 🖤

Anytime - @undercoverpena Oh, I just fell in love with Javi P even more after reading this. Jo's romantic, friends-to-lovers story here is just beautiful! I urge you to read it because I am still drowning in my feels about it. 🥰

A shout out to lovely @beabliss who has been putting together some hot "things he'd say to you" drabbles. Some of my favourite's have been Marcus Pike & Javier Pena - super hot! Although all the one's she's released so far have been amazing to read, and inspiring too. 🥵

Also want to throw a nod and some love to @wildemaven who has been creating some of the most stunning mood boards I've seen. Again, so inspiring and creative, and some of my favourites so far have been Dieter Hosting SNL, Jackson Librarian Reunites With An Old Lover & Halloween with Dave & The Girls. But honestly, I could favour them all, they're incredible. 🖤

☆ What have I been watching/listening to this week?

Blink 182 dropped a new album this week! And I've had it on repeat - A LOT! Growing up they were one of my favourite bands, and I've seen them live too, which was just incredible.

This new album is reminiscent in some ways of their old sound, with punchy anthems, but has some of those grown-up style ballads, similar to their album Neighbourhoods, dotted in there too, and I love it. It's been giving me embryo punk-rock Jett vibes from my college youth. And I'm still in love with Mark Hoppus to this day... 🥰

Some of my favorites from the album are Fell In Love, Terrified, One More Time & Edging.

☆ What have I been up to this week?

I went back to work this week, which was a shock to the system after a week of lay ins and writing a lot. 🥴 Feels like I've hardly done any writing at all this week.

I went out with my mom for lunch and a spot of shopping on Saturday, which was lovely, and I hung with my friends this week too for a belated birthday movie night - I was graced with a Pedro Pascal air freshener for my car... if I crash into a ditch, you'll know why! 😉

C'mon Jack, let's line dance outta here, cowboy!

Week in Review | Nov. 5

It’s kind of hard to believe Halloween was this past week, right? If you celebrated, I hope you had fun. I had a very enthusiastic little helper with me to help pass out candy. It routinely cracks me up how two introverts made an extrovert, but here we are.

This week, Mr. Rhoorl and I bid adieu to our beloved TLOU Halloween Horror Nights house. It was such a fun event and I loved seeing Joel 😉. We don’t get out much just the two of us, so those were special nights for sure. Now we transition to seeing all of the fun holiday celebrations at the various theme parks around us.

I didn’t read as much as I wanted to this week, my TBR list is growing more and more unmanageable by the day 😆 But alas, here's the week in review starting out with what I read.

The Pilot and His Girl by @avastrasposts - I finally caught up on the last chapter and it was literally everything I wanted! I’ve been following along with this story for months and have felt every emotion throughout the journey. I just love this story so so much and Mel did a fantastic job weaving the TF world into TLOU.

the angel + the devil by @undercoverpena - This is a fun little Halloween extra in the Late Night Text series I loved so much. This couple is just the cutest and Javi is still a menace!

Unworthy by @morallyinept - Jett’s giflets are so good (there’s a Marcus Moreno one I have my eyes on to read this week)! I’m continually in awe at what emotions she can elicit in less than 500 words. I went through a bit of a rollercoaster reading this one (in the best way!)

Headshots by @secretelephanttattoo - The fourth installment in this series was seriously everything I wanted. Marcus fics are like a warm hug and El writes him so well!

I didn’t do a great job of keeping track of the feralness from the week. I am in the midst of working on a 2024 Pedro calendar for my desk, so I’ve been saving a lot of photos 😂

Things I watched:

I got it in under the wire, but I did watch Hocus Pocus. We had it on while the trick-or-treaters were going around. I really love that movie. On the TV front, my trash TV shows are in full swing so I’ve been enjoying those when I can.

Today I am finally going to the movies after several weeks away. I’m going to go see The Marsh King’s Daughter. Why? Because Garrett Hedlund is in it. I have no shame. Speaking of Garrett, he released a single this week for the Desperation Road movie he was in.

Personal Stuff

Putting this here as part of accountability to myself - week two of my health journey is in the books! Things have been going well on that front because I can actually see progress. The holidays are a bit tricky, but I'm hoping to have some solid routines and habits down by then.

Fic updates:

Apparently, it was smut week for me. I posted a Benny Miller one-shot, Are You on Mute? and then Chapter 16 of Working Title. Thank you to everyone who’s been sticking with me on that one, I think to say it was a slow burn is an understatement when it takes 16 damn chapters lol 🫢 But, hopefully, it was worth it.

Delta Landscaping Chapter 9 is coming along and should be posted this week (maybe tomorrow if I can get my act together). I did take some time this week to get myself organized, so hopefully, that will help me with subsequent updates. Doing two fics at the same time is a bit more than I bargained for!

WIP Wednesday/Thursday

I was tagged by @secretelephanttattoo who's going to have an awesome Marcus Moreno fic coming soon. 🥰 Whoo hoo!

I highly recommend her Quiet Moments collection. 😎

My writing has been a bit off. Darker with angst and triggering themes. I'm trying to find any sort of fluff or levity. It's not happening mostly. I've almost finished a sort of fluffy Joel/Celeste drabble that could have been fluffier but is not. I dunno why. I'm actually in a pretty good mood. I was working on my April Showers challenge and...we'll need more work on it. I wanted to be happy. Anyway, preview time! 😆

Joel and Celeste:

“Just fine little brother. Where ya comin’ from? I haven’t done much today, ‘cept be somewhere at the wrong time.” Joel shrugged his shoulders and gave his brother a quick hug. Tommy patted Celeste’s head and she swatted at his arm.

“Ugh…Millers. You headed home Tommy?” Smoothing down her hair, she shook her head and looked toward the school again. Looked like he was right, and school was not letting out. She was considering heading home as well. “Tell Maria to make some tea for Joel when you get in.” She smirks and steps away, but Joel grabs the sleeve of her jacket.

A random Javier Peña x female reader one shot (I've been trying to do a Javi P series forever and it never seems right. So I figured trying to write the man would be good practice. I can't just let there be a happy Javier Peña story. 👀)

You lied right to your friend’s face and told him that you like her, she seemed very sweet, that you three should go out for drinks and that she’s beautiful. The last one wasn’t a lie, she was stunning. The rest of it you’re still unsure how you made it all drop from your mouth so easily. His eyes light up and Javier says something that is as sweet as it is a stab, “I’m glad you like her. I was worried you might not and then I’d have to wonder if she’s really right for me. You’re the best ángel.” You think you smiled and gave him a hug before going back to dealing with the ambassador issue. It’s a blur. Getting back to your office and stopping yourself from yelling took priority over before getting back on the phone.

I'm also trying work on my Ezra, Dieter and Javi G stories. One of these I'll make progress on I think. Maybe even my Lucian mini-series though that one is angsty.

The Spreadsheet Digest - Fic Recs | Vol. 9

Hi friends!! This week I read several series that had like... a lot of parts... including ones I've previously recced but just now finished (Looking at you Lie To Me by @iamskyereads). I also went to Pride and basically read nothing from Saturday to Monday. That being said, I'm pretty proud of the amount of fics I was able to scrounge up for y'all this week, and I think we have a pretty good selection.

I think I established recently that I'm a sucker for the nanny trope. We also know I love angst. So here we have one of those time bomb relationships where we know it's gonna end, not once, but twice. Excellent angst/tention building. Then we also have super fucking sexy delicious smut, Joel being a fucking adorable father, reader being like actually awesome... and I lowkey think readers mom is on it but that's just me. OH and "Mariposa" are you KIDDING ME?! perfect.

Run to You - a Marcus Pike series by @foli-vora

Talk about angst... and it's fucking PERFECT. The little flashback scenes and then the sharp cut to such a painful present situation UGH. The world building is excellent. The characterization is so fucking good bc of COURSE Marcus would fall in love on an op of fucking course he would. Marcus "Marry Me" Pike over here. Fucking idiot. I love him. I can't wait to see how this story progresses. It is so. fucking. good.

Not only am I back on my Din/Reader/Ezra bullshit AND my M/M/F bullshit in general, but this is the fic that caused it. These two space idiots were meant to be together, I am 100% certain. The way Ezra manages to gently reassure Din that reader wants him while they're both balls deep in various holes....??? How do you do it. Of Gorgons and Gardens - a Din/Ezra series by @concussed-to-pieces

Following the absurdthirst story, I found this one.... and boy howdy. I am a SLUT for sex pollen fics, so obviously that was excellent. I also love how it was like "oh the plant makes men want to fuck women" but hinted that neither of them would be particularly upset about fucking each other either. Mando was like... i don't give a fuck, dude. And then it went from absurdly smutty (but also kinda sweet) in part one, to just like tender and sweet in part two. Like yeah yeah horrible harrowing near death experience yada yada... the STUBBLE SCENE??? The PAIN KINK?? the TOUCHING?? I just about died. And then in part three we get my top all time kink PLUS Din and Ezra and Reader just being so sweet it hurts a little. I am feral for these boys UGH. AND AND the nickname being bird in mando'a was so clever??

So I read the Din/Ezra thing and obviously had to peruse the masterlist. I love my dear appalachian cowboy. I really really liked the whole premise of this story and the follow ups. The smut is fucking masterful but also like hello, plot??? Truly incredible. I really liked seeing frat-boy Jack and also seeing him work through his trauma and shit. But also Jack tied to a chair need I say more?

HAPPY SUNDAY LOVELIES! 🖤

Ooof what a week. Busy with work, but I'm on vacation again next week, woo! Plenty of time to write, and catch up on my reading list and I can't wait. 🤗

The weather has turned over the last two weeks here where I live in the UK, and it's very rainy and cold, so I'm looking forward to snuggling up with warm fuzzy socks and hot chocolate on the regular. 😍

Dry Run - @chronically-ghosted Once again, Taylor knocks it well and truly out of the park, this time with Javi P dancing with you. And I couldn't be more enthused or enthralled reading this. It's a scorcher. 🥵

Hoofbeats - @psychedelic-ink I'm a sucker for this pairing of Joel & Whiskey, and this story was exceptionally good with the imagery and feels. I absolutely loved it. 🥰

I caught up on some Pedro Podcasts this week whilst at work, some of them I hadn't actually listened to in full before...

I've made a playlist putting them all together, and it also includes Pedro's episode on Motherhacker. So, please feel free to click on and have a listen for yourself if you haven't.

My absolute favourite has to be the Talk Art Podcast. Hearing Pedro talk about art he loves is phenomenal.

☆ What have I been up to this week?

Working, and squeezing in some reading and writing. The weather hasn't been too great here for hiking the last two weeks, so I'm itching to get out this week and go for a hike if I can, stretch the ol' legs.

Pete Dunham

This section is usually reserved for a Garrett character (mostly Benny), but this week I caught up on the Like My Dreams series from @laurfilijames which followed Pete Dunham from Green Street Hooligans. Younger Jess was very obsessed with that movie and Pete and it’s been a fun trip down memory lane to rewatch that movie and then devour this delicious fic!

Feral corner:

The Miller Brothers reunited and seeing both Charlie and Garrett in a suit gave me so many thots. Garrett going and making smoking look hot again … I don’t even know where to look here - the bun, the shoulders, the back.

Javi P is getting jealous so let’s get some Javi with messy hair in here. Oh what’s that? Some post-outbreak denim shirt-wearing Joel? I got you. But then Young Joel gets jealous so here’s some photos of his arms. And I can’t forget about my favorite pilot.

Things I watched:

Last Sunday I went to the movies and saw Wish. I thought it was a really cute movie and as a Disney fan I loved al of the little Easter eggs hidden throughout. I thought the songs were really cute too, it was a fun time and I can’t wait to show Baby Rhoorl this movie.

I was up late plotting and thotting one night and was flipping through the channels for some background noise and came across Troy and saw Baby Garrett. Seeing him next to Brad Pitt was quite a sight - they play cousins in the movie if you haven’t seen it.

Personal Stuff

There’s been a lot happening at work this month and it’s derailed a bit of the progress I’ve been making on my health journey but I’m doing the best I can. I ran a few days this week, which was good! Mr Rhoorl and I had a date night and enjoyed a baby-free dinner out at a restaurant.

I put out a new episode of Delta Landscaping this week. Here’s a moodboard I made for it!

Benny Miller brain rot has settled into my brain and he’s all I can think about at the moment. As a result, I have a holiday-themed one-shot planned for tomorrow. Hoping to get an entry in one of my other series done this week, but we’ll see.
