Week in Review: Nov. 26 | The Week Esquire Broke My Brain...Again

This week was one to give thanks for so many things - my family, my friends, my little corner of Tumblr … and the team at Esquire (we’ll get to that). I also realized this week I reached another milestone on here and while I don’t like to harp on the numbers, it really continues to floor me that anyone reads anything of mine. So I want to say thank you. I’ll spare you another sappy rambling post, but it has meant a lot to me to be here. 

With that being said, I wanted to do something fun to say thank you, but I can’t think of anything! What do others do? I’m looking around at a few ask games, but if you have one you really like, send it my way! That’s probably what I have the capacity for at the moment - because I really need to get some chapters out.

Like My Dreams by @laurfilijames I recently rewatched Green Street Hooligans - I feel like the last time I saw it I was in high school, maybe college, which was a while ago. Anyways, I loved Charlie Hunnam’s character Pete and I’m excited to check out Laur’s series.

The Pedro boys celebrated Thanksgiving with @morallyinept and things of course were chaotic but hilarious. This post from @pedrostories was so helpful as someone who consumes fanfic and attempts to write it as well!

In case you missed it, a fun writing challenge popped up that I think is pretty cool! Do I know what I’m writing yet? No. But an idea will come to me I’m sure.

Feral corner:

You know … every week I think, you know, this will be the week where I’m going to be chill and not a thirsty ass mess - ha sorry, I couldn’t finish that without laughing. I can’t help it, blame Pedro (but don’t blame him, we need to thank this man).

So, we’ve all seen the recent Esquire photos right?! The thots were thotting and I am still processing. Will you probably see me reblog this countless times over the next few weeks? Probably. Am I going to shoehorn this photoshoot into the Working Title universe?! Definitely.

Can we just acknowledge the duality of this man? How he just walk around being such a ray of sunshine and so adorable but then turn into an absolute menace? 

Things I watched:

I spent most of the week away, but I did manage to start and finish Tulsa King, which I think is a pretty big feat. Garrett has a small role in it, but 🫠 I am here for it. I did manage to pay attention to the rest of the plot, shocking I know, and I really enjoyed this story.

Personal Stuff

Spent time traveling this week so I had a lot of car time and then family time. I went to Buc-ee’s, which is always a highlight of our road trips. If you haven’t been or know what it is, picture a gas station/convenience store/general store and then multiply that by 100. Is it a bit overwhelming and overstimulating? Yes. But I guess I’m a glutton for punishment because I have to go to one every time I pass by.

The holidays caused a bit of a blip in my health journey. I’m trying to reframe my thinking about it. My initial reaction would have been to write “ugh I was so bad this week and ate so many bad foods” but instead I’m just going to acknowledge that it was a holiday and indulged a bit. But a couple of days isn’t going to completely derail the last four weeks. This time of the year can be really tough when it comes to my relationship with food, but I’m trying to give myself some grace.

Fic updates:

I got a really fun ask about how the Triple Frontier boys would celebrate Thanksgiving. It was fun to think about the guys and yes, eventually we will get to Thanksgiving in Delta Landscaping.

I’ve gotten a couple of comments and messages about Working Title and Delta Landscaping and I promise I’m working on both (I think about them both at least once daily). I have a couple of PTO days in the next couple of weeks and I’m planning on dedicating some time to both so hopefully, I can get ahead and publish a bit more frequently.

Sunday Snippet

I was tagged by @fhatbhabie who is gonna have some sexy ass knife play with Frankie going on. 👀 🔪 But is it just the tip? You'll have to check out her finished fic whenever she posts it.

As for my snippet, I blame this on @laurfilijamesand @i-own-loki who told me to write for soft Deiter. In review, I'm not entirely sure I know how to write a soft Dieter. 😆

“I mean if you’re into that I can, but it might be a little too soon for that. I love the idea though Aria.” He answered and she dropped her head, her own grave was dug with that one. His large hand touched the back of her neck and his thumb ran at the nape of her neck. “I’m messing with you. Unless you really are open to it and then after the trial week, we can revisit.” Her hands came up to her face as it felt as hot as her neck did. He needed to stop touching her. She didn’t do well with touch or so she thought. Why is it okay when he does it? Who knows when he last washed his hands? To add to her confusion, Dieter leaned over in her ear, “I am going to need your help to sleep tonight though. I’m not used to sleeping alone and this entire production has been a shit show for finding the right person to share a bed with. I just need you to be in the bed with me, no funny business and all that, alright? I’m actually quite a sensitive soul.” He withdrew his lips from her ear and his hand from her neck, rolling it down her back. “You’re soft everywhere aren’t you? I like that.” He stood and approached the double doors they had come through, “See you later tonight Kit Kat.” He peered over his shoulder back at Aria as she looked up from her hands and he opened the doors with a flourish and then closed them softly behind himself. 

Yes as long as that is, it is a snippet. Everyone should know I'm long winded. 😤

Week in Review | Oct. 1

Happy October! This month is a really special month for me personally (more on that later). It marks three months on Tumblr! I’m approaching a pretty significant follower milestone (for me) which is really cool. I try to not pay attention to numbers because that’s stressful and I'm trying to treat this as my fun space (and me time), but this milestone made me pause and think about the little community I’ve found here and how special it is to me. To anyone who has left a comment, reblog, like, ask, or message - thank you! You’ve brought some laughter and smiles to my days. My inbox is always open so if you want to say hi please do!

Fun Posts

Dieter and @morallyinept were back this week dishing out some self-care advice. I seriously love the way Jett puts these posts together, they make me laugh and think.

I shared some of my favorite things on this post, which also included some photos I've taken.

Feral corner:

Joel’s birthday coupled with photos of Pedro on the picket line kept the feral corner well occupied this week. I mean, look at him. I don't even care how he ties his shoes because he's adorable no matter what.

I found there’s a name for the affliction that I and many of us suffer from - Chronic Pascalitis. There are ways to lessen the symptoms, although do you really want that?

Also, the Pike Puddle is getting deeper thanks to posts like this and like this.

Can we also appreciate how beautiful this photo of Pedro is from earlier this year when we appeared on Seth Meyers' show?!

Things I watched:

I started watching this show on Max called Mosaic featuring Garrett Hedlund. It’s been interesting so far, I’m only about halfway through. There was an episode where looked like Benny and I about lost my damn mind.

Personal Update

This month is a really special month for me personally - my daughter was born in October, we rescued our dog in October, and we got married in October. Needless to say, there’s a lot to celebrate but it also has me in my feels as I sit back and reflect on a lot of things.

The past two years and the transition to becoming a mom has been hard and I’m a work in progress on that front every single day. But we've made it and I'm pretty lucky to have the independent, fearless, and hilarious little girl that I do.

My parents have been in town for the past couple of days to celebrate my daughter’s birthday. As a result, my husband and I get to take advantage of some free babysitting help and are doing a little overnight trip. It’s an early anniversary present for us to stay at one of the on-site hotels at Universal and go to Halloween Horror Nights for the night. Yay I get to see Joel and the TLOU house again!

Aside from that, we have some fun things planned this week. I’m excited for the weekend when I get to go see A Strange Way of Life in theaters! I’ll be sure to include a spoiler-free review here next week!

I should have the next chapter of Working Title out soon. Thank you to those who have listened to me rant and ramble on about it. I’ve been struggling with the latest chapter. Once I get that out then I’ll work on Delta Landscaping - Will and Katie go on their date, but we also have Friday night plans for the others too. I also shared a little tease about a new neighbor coming to Mule Fall Court.

Week in Review | Oct. 22

Hi! Did you hear Pedro was on SNL?! I woke up, checked my phone, and it was the first thing I saw. What a freaking way to start the day. I WILL be watching the episode later today (so thankful I recorded it because I love SNL) and fair warning I WILL be obnoxious about it 😆

Well, now that I have that out of the way ... what a week. I have to start off by saying thank you. I was a bit down earlier in the week thanks to an interaction at work (more on that later), but thanks to Mr. and Baby Rhoorl, my dog, and my friends both in and outside of my phone my week turned around. Going through posts for this week in review helped me remember how much fun I had on here this week. So thank you.

As I mentioned earlier, going through the last week of posts made me realize how much fun I’ve been having on here. Here are some of the highlights:

I look forward to Self Care with Dieter and Jett (@morallyinept) each week. The posts always make me laugh but also think and reflect. Some of the topics from this week’s post really hit home.

Do I think about Triple Frontier a lot? Yes. Do I have various headcanons about the guys? Also yes. Thankfully there seems to be some others who like to talk about that too. @laurfilijames asked me about the sleeping habits of the boys while @itspdameronthings asked about the domestic side of the boys. Both of these are topics I’m looking forward to exploring more because I have thoughts!

My inbox is always open…even if it means having to answer an impossible question. Thank you @legendary-pink-dot. (No, seriously, thank you for an opportunity to plaster gifs of The Hollywood Roundtable interview).

Feral corner:

So many thots from this week - from a Frankie-coded photo of P, to seeing how similarly Silva and Young Joel sleep, to once again having gifs from the Flaunt shoot grace my dash. Also P’s slutty little knee.

But honestly, nothing made me more feral this week than the WIP snippet @for-a-longlongtime gave us for a Tim Rockford x Javier Pena x reader fic. I am so ready for this.

Things I watched:

Honestly, not much this week. I caught up on some of my reality shows. I didn’t go to the movies (shocking, I know!). I still want to see A Haunting in Venice and I also need to get some Halloween movies into the lineup - the fact that I haven’t watched Hocus Pocus yet is honestly a travesty that I am going to remedy real soon. 

Personal Stuff

So, earlier this week I decided to do a vent post, just to get some thoughts down. I had every intention of deleting it within a few hours, until I started to receive the nicest messages. I tend to be a lot more reserved in my life outside of here and don’t really share my thoughts or feelings. But, I’ve taken my time here to go outside of my comfort zone and be a bit more vulnerable. Heck, putting my writing out there was a big step m. I feel lucky to have been able to meet and interact with some great people here. I really do mean that from the bottom of my heart.

Got new chapters out for both Working Title and Delta Landscaping this week. I say this all of the time and hope I don’t sound like a broken record or disingenuous, but it truly makes my day whenever anyone interacts with my stories. I love talking about these characters and these worlds.

It’s been Charlie Hunnam week apparently for me but I watched this video more times than I care to admit. I can’t mention one Miller without the other…this Benny gifset gave me some thots (particularly the ones of him yelling, wtf is wrong with me).

Things I watched:

I watched Rebel Moon on Netflix. I know this movie didn’t get the best reviews, but I enjoyed it. Was it because Charlie Hunnam looked hot AF? Maaaaybe. 😆

I'm planning on watching it again with Mr. Rhoorl this week.

Personal Stuff

Tonight we are taking Baby Rhoorl to a holiday light display, which I’m pretty excited about. It’s just going to be the Rhoorl’s this year for Christmas since our families live in other states. We’ll keep it pretty low-key. I, unfortunately, have to work this week - although I will be able to work from home which is nice.

I’m working on a few different things. I’m excited to be participating in the Pickled Peña writing challenge and will post something on Jan. 1. Week in Review | Sept. 10

Happy Sunday! As I post this, I’m headed to the airport. I’ll be out of town all week for work which means this latest stretch of craziness will be over soon. I’ll be able to breathe a very big sigh of relief by the time I’m back home Friday. 

Before I start this week's recap, I wanted to take a moment to say how much fun I've been having over here the last couple of months on this platform. I've met some pretty awesome people - if you ever want to say hi, my inbox is open!

Thank you to everyone who left me such kind comments, reblogs, and messages related to the latest chapter of Working Title. It means so much that anyone reads what I put out there, let alone feels compelled enough to tell me about it. A few of you (you know who you are) brought me nearly to tears this week with your sweet and encouraging words, so thank you from the bottom of my heart. I have read a lot about the negativity others experience on this site, which breaks my heart, but I’ve been trying to carve out a positive place here...with plenty of thirsty thots to boot (more on that later).

Don’t worry, Garrett Hedlund was back on his bullshit this week posting things on his IG like this to distract me. This man is literally Benny and I cannot with him (in the most loving way).

Things I watched:

I caught up on some Real Housewives. If you really want to ever get me going, ask me about housewives. Bravo is one of the few topics I have encyclopedic knowledge about.

I meant to say this a couple of weeks ago, but I’m watching Sons of Anarchy when I can. I’m not as familiar with Charlie Hunnam as an actor and seeing as Will has a bit of a more prominent role in upcoming chapters of Delta Landscaping, I figured I’d watch something else he was in. 

I watched Dirt Music with Garrett Hedlund … he has an Australian accent and he plays the guitar in it, I was swooning. The movie also features absolutely stunning shots of Australia.

Pedro rewatches are a given at this point - Narcos was on heavy rotation this week during my WFH days. I do have Prospect on the list to watch soon because I keep seeing so much about Ezra. Maybe I'll watch it sometime this week if anyone wants to watch it and chat?

Fun things from the week:

Last Sunday I went to my first Halloween Horror Nights event at Universal and did all things TLOU. I posted a recap about it and am excited to go again later this month.

So, Dieter has been taking up significant real estate in my brain for months now, so I was immediately hooked when I saw this deep dive from @for-a-longlongtime. It was such and interesting read. I want to rewatch the Dieter scenes now knowing the background with the art.

My coworker and I did our little monthly ritual unveiling which Pedro will grace my calendar at work for the next month. Doesn’t he look great?

Feral corner:

Thots ran wild this week thanks to certain GIFs and a convo I had with @trulybetty about who else, that menace Joel. This thread made me feel several emotions. Fire Meets Gasoline gets a permanent reblog anytime I see it. Also, the Casillero del Diablo photos were just too much. And to round out my little feral corner, this post by @morallyinept is just … well, go read it (for science). 

Things I'm excited for:

Being done with two big work events that I’ve been planning for months. :)

Fic updates:

I published an update for Working Title this week and hope to have the next Delta Landscaping chapter out by Tuesday! I still have an idea for a Frankie one-shot involving an airplane ride/turbulence - seeing as I’ll be taking some plane trips this week it may get written (as long as my boss doesn’t sit next to me). 

I know he won’t see it but I have to shout out Mr Rhoorl who will be handling a toddler and dog on his own while I’m out this week. The last time I was away from my crew was about this same time last year and I was not in a good place - between being away from my daughter for the first time and the hormones associated with ending breastfeeding I was a hot ass mess. But, I’m in a lot better of a mental space these days, so I’m actually looking forward to some time away knowing he’s got it more than handled.

Week in Review | September 24

What a week! Luckily everyone around my neck of the woods is healthier and doing well. Hope you are staying healthy too. Thank you to everyone who reached out to check on me this week, Frankie hugs and forehead kisses to you all.

If you are new or haven’t seen my Week in Review posts before, I basically ramble about a bunch of different things. Fic recs are up first followed by some more feral thots (seriously what was in the water this week?! I blame it on the possibility of TF2.). Then I finish off by treating this post like my diary entry for the week and share some things I’ve been up to/looking forward to.

Third Time's a Charm (AO3 link) by jwritesfanfics - Frankie and reader have been together and broken up twice, will the third time be the charm? This story wrapped up but I finally caught up on the ending and it was everything I wanted.

The Pilot and His Girl by @avastrasposts - I don't want to spoil what happens in the latest chapter but ahhhh this series is just so so good and will be a fixture on this list until it's done.

Frankie’s Way by @morallyinept - This just had so many of my favorite Frankie elements in it - dad Frankie, hot Frankie, and some smut. Also, this would be a great set up to Triple Frontier 2 if (and hopefully when) that happens.

Your Plans & Those Slow Hands by @wildemaven - This was an ode to Frankie’s…well...hands, and what they can do. I’ll leave it at that and let you read it for yourself.

Pump by @hyzer34 - In this AU, Joel is a personal trainer and the reader is his latest client. All I’ll say is that if Joel was my personal trainer, I would be a lot more consistent with my gym routine. 

Burlesque by @cavillscurls - I caught the first part of this a while ago when I wasn’t as organized, so I was so excited when I stumbled upon part two. Young Joel ™️ met a showgirl in part one and they had a very steamy encounter and in part two he sees her out unexpectedly at a bar. I love Joel in all eras, but Young Joel ™️ really hits the spot for me these days.

It's Never Too Late by @javierpena-inatacvest - I finally caught up and loved the most recent chapter. All I'll say is Javi dressed up as Hans Solo for Halloween was a visual I'll keep in my head for a while. 🥵 Besides that 😆 seeing Javi find happiness and love makes me so happy!

Marcus Pike

Cake by @trulybetty - The Pike Puddle is going to need to be renamed soon because there’s a lot of us and it’s getting deep! I have a real soft spot for Marcus, and this was a great combination of fluff with a little hint of spice. 

Agent Ortega

For the Night by @ladamedusoif - So I about lost my damn mind (in a good way) when I watched Pedro in The Sixth Gun and I was so excited to see some fics pop up in record time. I’m already a fan of this writer and their Mr. Ben fic Visiting (go check that one out!), so I was excited to see this story pop up. Agent Ortega was so hot, obviously, and so sweet and I loved that he was paired with a reader who was a little older. 

Dieter Bravo 

Destiny & Deliverance by @mysterious-moonstruck-musings This story just continues to get better and better even though it’s ripping out my heart in the process. What I love most, besides trying to guess the twists and turns, is the realistic portrayal of how complicated love can be, especially when you’re learning about someone and their history, while also processing your own past traumas (holy run on sentence but this is my stream of consciousness). I want to give Dieter and Talia both the biggest hugs. I also love the companion series Deconstructing Dieter Bravo that popped up which goes a little deeper into the events of the story (note, it has spoilers about the series).

Feral corner:

Ok, y’all. The feral corner is going to need to be renamed at the rate we’re going because this week … whew! The feral-ness was on another level. My notification were a hot ass mess so I’m sure I’ve missed some posts but there was just some absolute gold on the feed this week! The prospect of a Triple Frontier sequel is really what made us all absolutely bonkers.

I am proud to have instigated some fun. This is what happens when I pop into an inbox with an ask. I will listen to any TEDTalk @legendary-pink-dot will grace us with, especially related to Frankie. Here’s another fun thread. To those in the Catfish Pond PhD Degree program I see you. Although the school year has started, I’m sure our professor will still allow for late adds to the program!

We also got some lightened up GIFs (courtesey of @grogusmum) of that scene for Narcos. If you haven’t seen these yet, get yourself a cold drink and enjoy.

Things I watched:

My husband and I did Baby Movie Swap yesterday (one of us goes to see a movie while the other watches our daughter and then we switch). He saw A Haunting in Venice which he liked, so I definitely am going to see that at some point. I went with my favorite coworker (the one who gave me the Pedro office calendar) to see the Expend4bles. We both have a thing for Jason Statham…long story and lots of inside jokes, but if you haven’t seen Spy you need to, he’s hilarious in it. Was Expend4bles a good movie? No. No it wasn’t. Did we have fun? Absolutely.

Also, I got a little surprise before the previews started and saw Pedro profiled as part of a Hispanic Heritage Month campaign AMC Theaters is doing. My husband went and saw his movie first and when the little profile came up he snapped a few photos and sent them to me lol

Things I'm excited for:

We’re doing some family fun this morning followed by a little date night tonight when my husband and I go back to Halloween Horror Nights so I can shoot my shot at Joel Miller see the TLOU house along with some others. We’re also planning on going next Sunday too (trying to get my money’s worth on the pass I bought).

Also this week, my parents are coming to town for my daughter’s birthday. I can’t believe I’m going to have a two-year-old soon. Wow.

I had very ambitious plans for the last week but managed to put out Chapter 11 and 12 of Working Title along with a Frankie one-shot, Turbulence. Thank you to everyone who left such amazing feedback. I truly from the bottom of my heart mean it when I say it makes my day to read all of the comments and reblogs 💕 The little community I have found on here means so much to me!

I was having some trouble with the landscapers this week, but don’t fret, Chapter 6 of Delta Landscaping is done and I'm editing it so it should be up early this week.

I Like the Way You (Frankie) by @undercoverpena - I've kept this series in my Current Compulsory Series section for weeks, but I'm pulling it up to the top this week because we got the final part this week! It's always a bit bittersweet to me when I get to the end of a series, especially one I'm following in real-time. I loved following along each week and immersing myself in this story and I’m sad it's done (but hey, great news, I can now reread it from the beginning and binge!). Great job Jo! 💕

Things I watched:

I didn't make it to the movies this week, Mr. Rhoorl went and saw Godzilla Minus One and loved it. He's a huge Godzilla fan so he was pretty excited to see it. I’m off fo work tomorrow so I’m planning on seeing Wish.

Something that is releasing soon that I'm excited to see is Rebel Moon with Charlie Hunnam on Netflix. It looks like it will be available for my UK fans this week, but we in the US have to wait until the 21st.

Personal Stuff

Busy week. Both Mr Rhoorl and I had PTO on different days this week and we both had our plans thwarted by a sick baby. She's ok now, all good! Otherwise, we've been mostly laying low. I have managed to get most of my holiday shopping done and our Christmas cards arrived so that's exciting! We've also been checking out the various theme parks - I love the way they decorate this time of year! We did a holiday cookie stroll at Epcot last night and it was yummy

Fic updates:

I had Benny Miller brain rot again (when don't I at this point?). Anyway, the result was a third part of what I guess is now the unofficial "Are You on Mute" series. I do have plans for wrapping those one-shots up into something bigger. I just frankly keep having thots I have to get out and it's distracting me😆

I did manage to get a good amount of writing done for the next chapter of Delta Landscaping. Hoping to get the new episode out early this week. Whenever I get down on myself that I'm not updating that series fast enough I remind myself it's essentially like 6 different series in one so therein lies the delays 🫣

Week in Review | Nov. 5

It’s kind of hard to believe Halloween was this past week, right? If you celebrated, I hope you had fun. I had a very enthusiastic little helper with me to help pass out candy. It routinely cracks me up how two introverts made an extrovert, but here we are. 

This week, Mr. Rhoorl and I bid adieu to our beloved TLOU Halloween Horror Nights house. It was such a fun event and I loved seeing Joel 😉. We don’t get out much just the two of us, so those were special nights for sure. Now we transition to seeing all of the fun holiday celebrations at the various theme parks around us. 

I didn’t read as much as I wanted to this week, my TBR list is growing more and more unmanageable by the day 😆 But alas, here's the week in review starting out with what I read.

Unworthy by @morallyinept - Jett’s giflets are so good (there’s a Marcus Moreno one I have my eyes on to read this week)! I’m continually in awe at what emotions she can elicit in less than 500 words. I went through a bit of a rollercoaster reading this one (in the best way!)

I didn’t do a great job of keeping track of the feralness from the week. I am in the midst of working on a 2024 Pedro calendar for my desk, so I’ve been saving a lot of photos 😂

Things I watched:

I got it in under the wire, but I did watch Hocus Pocus. We had it on while the trick-or-treaters were going around. I really love that movie. On the TV front, my trash TV shows are in full swing so I’ve been enjoying those when I can.

Today I am finally going to the movies after several weeks away. I’m going to go see The Marsh King’s Daughter. Why? Because Garrett Hedlund is in it. I have no shame. Speaking of Garrett, he released a single this week for the Desperation Road movie he was in.

Apparently, it was smut week for me. I posted a Benny Miller one-shot, Are You on Mute? and then Chapter 16 of Working Title. Thank you to everyone who’s been sticking with me on that one, I think to say it was a slow burn is an understatement when it takes 16 damn chapters lol 🫢 But, hopefully, it was worth it.

Delta Landscaping Chapter 9 is coming along and should be posted this week (maybe tomorrow if I can get my act together). I did take some time this week to get myself organized, so hopefully, that will help me with subsequent updates. Doing two fics at the same time is a bit more than I bargained for!

Week in Review | Sept. 3

Happy September and welcome to another week in review! This past week had been circled on my calendar for a while. Do you ever have those weeks that you know are going to be an absolute cluster? Well, that was this week for me at work. On top of that, we had a hurricane to track...luckily we are all safe!.

I was so overwhelmed by all of the messages and comments sending good vibes my way this week. It seriously gave me some much-needed wind in my sails. Anyway, here we go to my fic recs and other fun stuff under the "read more" because I'm apparently super long-winded this week in everything I do 😆

Fics I read this week:

Three of my absolute favorite fics posted final chapters this week. Congrats to Megan, Mel, and Jo for wrapping up the main stories, and I'm looking forward to your epilogues and anything else you share! 

Frankie Morales

The Layover by @goodwithcheese - I’ve been shouting about this one for a while now and Megan just keeps knocking it out of the park. While I’m sad that this story came to an end, I’m so excited to reread it and for the epilogue. (I'm especially keen to reread that scene where Frankie and the boys clear the yard)! 😉

Shared Breaths by @frenchiereading - Another great Frankie fic that I’ve been following for a while! Frankie deserves the world and this story is just so sweet! The epilogue Mel posted was just … ugh so good! It made me feel every emotion. And she also posted a behind-the-scenes post that was so interesting and insightful. I love seeing how others organize and work on their stories.

Just a Number by @linzels-blog - There was a fun little extra published this week about a girls’ night that was especially fun! I'm loving Frankie so much in this.

The Pilot and His Girl by @avastrasposts - If you’ve followed me for a while, you know I love this TLOU/TF crossover so damn much. And with the inclusion of a couple of Millers into the story recently I’ve been over the moon.

Late Night Texts by @mvtthewmurdvck - The concept for this fic is so good and I love how the relationship between these two evolved. I was an utter mess reading the last chapter. Bravo!

La Camisa Negra by @ramblers-lets-get-ramblin - I feel like a moth called to a flame anytime there is a mention of black shirt Javi … and now there's a whole one-shot dedicated to it 🫠. Speaking of Angela, she put together a compilation of her favorite Frankie fics and was sweet enough to include Delta Landscaping, so thank you!

It’s Never Too Late by @javierpena-inatacvest just gave us all of the content this week! Besides, the main story there was also this ask called Again that made me lose my damn mind! 🫠

I am deep in my Dieter feels these days with Working Title and as a result, I haven’t been reading much with him. The only exception is  Destiny & Deliverance by @mysterious-moonstruck-musings - Ugh, this one is so good! Between all of the teasers and hints dropped along the way, I’m so intrigued to see where this one is going!

Benny Miller

I’ve been in the deepest of deep dives with all things Garrett Hedlund, particularly Benny Miller. I just have to show this post again and the photo that came out with Garrett and Charlie (and then the subsequent video of Garrett at the roller rink). I mean, sir, are you serious?! I’m still not fully recovered. Thank you @musings-of-a-rose for giving me a crash course in all the Garrett content I've missed … and for letting me run feral in your DMs about this man 😂 Also, today is Garrett's 39th birthday, so yay. I hope that he has a great day!

Anyway, @wildemaven posted a one-shot titled  Supply & Demand that shows Benny at his best - sexy, charming, and sweet.

Things I watched:

I didn’t really get a lot of TV in this week that wasn’t the 100th rewatch of Frozen for my daughter. We have tried to sprinkle in some other movies like Tangled and Zootopia, but Elsa is her girl and who are we to deny her?

Last week, I talked about the method my husband and I use to go and see movies. This week, I went and saw The Curse of the Demeter. I know this is based on a chapter in Dracula, but I’ve never read it, so I can’t give any insight as to how true to the text the movie was or wasn’t. It was fine. Like, it was suspenseful…not super scary (I mean, you know it’s Dracula and he’s going to bite people). If I had to put it on a scale of 1-5, it would be like a 3. Perfectly fine movie, but there are other movies I’d tell you to go see first.

My husband went and saw The Haunted Mansion after I raved about it last week and he confirmed a lot of my thoughts, especially that LaKeith Stanfield is amazing in it.

Not in theaters, but I watched Mojave last night - that scoundrel Garrett Hedlund strikes again, but Oscar Issac is in it too! I liked it, but then again it may have been because of how hot Garrett looked and sounded in it! I mean look at this man:

Things I'm excited for:

Tonight I’m going to my first-ever Halloween Horror Nights event at Universal. We have a babysitter so mom and dad are ready for a date night! The only mission I have is to do the Last of Us house. There’s also some cool Last of Us-themed food that I want to try as well. I’ll report back and share some photos if anyone is interested. I'm sure to be channeling my inner Pedro-at-the-Beyonce-concert and saying "I'm fucking dying" at how amazing it's all going to be.

Both WIPs had new chapters this week! I keep adding ideas for future one-shots and possibly a series, I’m not quite sure yet. I need to concentrate on the two I have going right now though! Thank you to everyone who has read and left me feedback and sent messages - it means so much!

Week in Review: Nov. 19

Hi there! Posting this recap a little later than usual because it was an action-packed weekend and I was a bit off my routine. I hope you had a good week. I’m coming up on a short work week (yay) because of the Thanksgiving holiday, so I’m looking forward to that! 

Here's a live look at me only having two days of work this week!

Please indulge me in a quick(ish) story before I get on with the recap. This weekend, we took our daughter to a trampoline park to play (and get her energy out) and while there she made friends with another little girl. They were both playing with something and looked at each other and in an instant they were pals and walked around and bounced together for half an hour. 

While I was watching them, it made me think of my time here and the people I’ve met and interacted with. Whether it’s through a reblog, comment, ask, or DM, making friends on here is akin to making friends on the playground (or trampoline park).

It is all so simple when you realize, hey you like this *insert actor, movie, character, very specific gif, etc*? Me too? Now we’re friends. Let’s yell about it! 🙂 In person, I can be reserved and shy, especially when meeting new people, so being on here has all been an exercise in pushing myself out of my comfort zone. I still get so nervous and second-guess myself a lot on here, but I’m going to keep at it because so far it’s brought some laughs, thots, and just overall great conversation to my DMs and beyond.

Feral corner:

Where do I even start … this week was one for the record books and I’m not sure if the feral corner can capture it all.

The Strange Way of Life behind-the-scenes gifsets were almost too much. Like this one and this one. Goodness, I was an absolute mess the day these graced my dash.

It’s hard to pick a top three when it comes to Pedro characters, but this post makes a compelling point for these three.

Young Joel is always on the brain, so this post of just his arms was 🫠 Also, some Young Joel in the morning. If you’re curious about how I picture Counsin Joel in Delta Landscaping, it’s like this.

Some more assorted posts that man me feral: Tim Rockford thots, Black Shirt Javi, a compilation of Pedro boys’ kisses, and Pedro dressed as Dieter sends me. This little moment from The Bubble is just so sweet it almost cured my WT writer’s block.

Garrett Hedlund

Garrett gets his own little spot on the feral corner, because …. Well, I think this post started it all. But then a good Benny gifset always gets me.  I still need to watch his new show, thanks to posts like this and this.

Things I watched:

I saw a few things this week - I rewatched Strange Way of Life and still love it. Ugh so good! I was so overwhelmed the first time I saw it, so seeing it again was helpful to pick up on the little things I missed (like Pedro’s tricep).

For a fun throwback, I watched Green Street Hooligans this week. Thank you to @laurfilijames for letting me yell about it. I forgot how much I liked that movie and how hot Charlie Hunnam was in it.

I also went to the movie theater this week to see the new Hunger Games movie. I didn’t read the book, I literally have it sitting next to my desk mocking me because I thought I’d be able to read it before the movie came out. I thought visually the movie was beautiful, but I was a bit confused by the ending. Snow is supposed to be this evil figure in the original trilogy but I didn’t find his turn to be that convincing in this prequel. But maybe it’s because I missed something? I don’t know, the ending felt rushed to me.

Personal Stuff

A month down in my health journey and I’m feeling a lot better! The Thanksgiving holiday will be a big test, but I’m trying to not beat myself up too much and just enjoy it. 

I went to a concert this weekend and I had a blast! I really liked Ice Nine Kills before this, but now I’m an even bigger fan. They put on a great show (I loved how campy some of their antics were), and they sound amazing too. Plus, their lead singer isn’t bad on the eyes (again I’m feral AF).

I also finished up my Pedro 2024 desk calendar. I’ll take some pictures when it finally arrives from Shutterfly.

Gave Frankie some love this week on the latest episode of Delta Landscaping! I was also distracted by Benny this week (and my thots) and put out a Part Two of Are You On Mute. I’ve taken a little writing break, but I miss my characters so I’m hoping to get some writing in this week.

This section is usually reserved for a Garrett character (mostly Benny), but this week I caught up on the Like My Dreams series from @laurfilijames which followed Pete Dunham from Green Street Hooligans. Younger Jess was very obsessed with that movie and Pete and it’s been a fun trip down memory lane to rewatch that movie and then devour this delicious fic!

Things I watched:

Last Sunday I went to the movies and saw Wish. I thought it was a really cute movie and as a Disney fan I loved al of the little Easter eggs hidden throughout. I thought the songs were really cute too, it was a fun time and I can’t wait to show Baby Rhoorl this movie.

I was up late plotting and thotting one night and was flipping through the channels for some background noise and came across Troy and saw Baby Garrett. Seeing him next to Brad Pitt was quite a sight - they play cousins in the movie if you haven’t seen it. 

Personal Stuff

There’s been a lot happening at work this month and it’s derailed a bit of the progress I’ve been making on my health journey but I’m doing the best I can. I ran a few days this week, which was good! Mr Rhoorl and I had a date night and enjoyed a baby-free dinner out at a restaurant.

Week in Review | Oct. 29 aka The SNL Week

Hi there! Just a week ago I woke up to see the Pedroverse exploding about his appearance on SNL. What a week, it all feels like a bit of a blur. I’m so happy I have my pocket friends here so I can scream into the void about this man. Although, after this week I’m not sure how we are going to fare come Gladiator 2 time … at least we’ll have time to prepare for that versus getting caught off guard, right? What do you think P?

For those who celebrate Halloween, I hope you’ve had a safe and fun weekend. Mr. Rhoorl and I are returning to Halloween Horror Nights for the last time tonight! I still can’t believe how much I’ve enjoyed going to the event this year. Goes to show that sometimes doing something out of your comfort zone may be worth the try!

On the heels of the SNL appearance, @morallyinept added more to her Pedro Boys Cocktails with a SNL edition. These are so funny and clever. Side note, happy birthday (and 1k followers too?! Amazing you deserve it all)! To celebrate, she gave us a gift by way of two one-shots which I'm adding to my list for this week!

But seriously, these gifs have been living rent-free in my mind. Also, there was a photo of Pedro that I saw in gray sweatpants that made me lose my goddamn mind aka change the name of my blog from Joel’s Gray Sweatpants to Pedro’s Gray Sweatpants. Because that's a rational response, right?! 😆 I’m also convinced that I manifested his choice of attire into existence and you can’t tell me any different! Let me have this!

My week wasn’t all dominated by Pedro, as hard as that may seem. Garrett/Benny was up in there too. This recent post has solidified the idea that I need to add a bowling scene to Delta Landscaping at some point. Garrett apparently has a song coming out on Friday, so expect me to be obnoxious about it when it drops.

Things I Watched:

I have just a couple of days left to do my annual rewatch of Hocus Pocus. I have been wearing my Sanderson Sisters shirt throughout the month, though.

I didn’t go to the movies this week, but Mr. Rhoorl went and saw Five Night at Freddy’s. He’s never played the game and knows just the basics about the lore, but he thought it was fine.

We did introduce Baby Rhoorl to The Nightmare Before Christmas this week (quick poll - do you consider that a Halloween movie or a Christmas movie?). She was interested in it for as long as a two-year-old can be interested in something.

Personal Stuff

This week I started a bit of a health journey, which has been going pretty well so far. Things were a bit crazy at work as we launched a really big project. Baby Rhoorl also attend a birthday party for a friend - her first one! Being around that many small children was … a lot. I left super overstimulated and I am continually in awe of teachers and caregivers who do that day in and day out.

I’m looking forward to some Halloween fun this week, starting with HHN tonight (goodbye Joel, we had a good run). Baby Rhoorl’s school is doing a Trunk or Treat event - a concept I never knew existed until last year. And Tuesday my entire office is dressing up for Halloween. The floor I’m on picked Halloween movies as our theme, and my team decided on the Addam’s Family. Yay for corporate Halloween fun 🙃 although it does make for some pretty funny meetings.

I can’t believe we are staring November in the face! Mr. Rhoorl and I have plans to see a concert in November, which I’m really excited about - Ice Nine Kills and In This Moment. We’ve seen both of these bands before, but I’m looking forward to watching them again!

Fic Updates:

This past week I got a chapter of Working Title out - with a fun cameo. 😉 Chapter 16 has been done for about a week but I've been sitting on it, rereading. Fair warning, the cameos aren’t done. Also, we finally get some smut…yay! Hopefully, those who have been reading will find it worth the wait. 🫣 I will get it out this week, I'm thinking maybe Wednesday?

Delta Landscaping Chapter 9 is coming along. It takes me a lot longer to write that series since there’s so many characters to keep track of (and I am writing it as I go). So apologies for the delay.

I have a couple of one-shots in the works, but I will likely post a Benny one this week, maybe for Miller Monday? I originally planned on doing a little Halloween one-shot, but the month got away from me 🫤

Hi there! How’s your November going? I can’t believe we’re already almost halfway through. The time change has been kicking my ass this week, although it has meant that Baby Rhoorl now goes to sleep at a more reasonable time…for now.

@goodwithcheese is a tremendous artist and made me absolutely laugh out loud with this depiction of @legendary-pink-dot’s Hinterland (which is a great read by the way!).

Feral corner:

This gif continues to fuel thots. As does any mention of Sequins!Joel (thank you @trulybetty). Frankie Friday got off to a hot start thanks to @intheorangebedroom. And then there’s this set of photos. I love picking up little things that Pedro does across characters, like this. Here’s your reminder (as if you could forget) that this photoshoot exists. Seriously, thank you Esquire, and everyone who made it a reality.

There’s been a lot of Benny Miller on my feed this week (thank you to those who tag me to make sure I don’t miss a post 😘). But this little moment from Triple Frontier gets me every single time. And I have to throw one in with the baseball cap.

Things I watched:

I went to the movies to go see The Marsh King’s Daughter. Would I normally have seen this movie? Probably not. So why, Jess did you go? Welp, because Garrett Hedlund was in it. I did a little movie review of it in case you missed it.

Personal Stuff

Because @maggiemayhemnj asked so nicely, I'll share a couple of months from the 2024 Pedro calendar I've been working on (this will replace the calendar my coworker got for my cube).

Week three of my health journey. I’m really trying to not stress about the scale this time, but I did reach a little milestone this week which is encouraging. 

Mr Rhoorl and I are going to the Ice Nine Kills/In This Moment concert soon and I'm so excited. We saw Ice Nine Kills earlier this year when we went to Metallica, but it was a huge stadium. I'm looking forward to seeing them a bit closer. And In This Moment always puts on a good show. We've been debating how many times we've seen them, I think this will be the third.

Anyways, I'll be trying to listen to set lists all week to prepare. It looks like my favorite song isn't on the list but I'll keep listening to it anyway:
