Tobirama
Tumblr media
You had been fresh out the shower, it was a chilly night and you always went out of your apartment late so you could avoid Tobirama. For some reason he hated you and your whole family. You’ve heard how bad he treats his women and you’d be scared to even be around him.his brother hashirama tries to keep him in check but he still finds away to do what he does.
your father had killed his father, you come from a bloodline of gang leaders so you were always brought into mess. Tobirama wasn’t so into your family, just you. a while back he took you from your brothers, forcing you to stay with him, you did everything for him. the things you got in return for doing so just made you wanna stay more and you felt so guilty about them.
you went to school with him, he’d just mess with you. he’s the one who put that scar on your cheek, your father had been especially mad about it so he took you out of school, so doing online was all you knew.
you left your hair in it’s fluffy state. your skin was a light brown, color. like caramel. your eyes were different, one was a greyish black and one was brown. it had run in the family.
you put on your glasses and put on some grey biker shorts, that fit tight and were a little too short but it was all you had at the moment. your dirty clothes bin had been full and mostly all your clothes that were appropriate had been worn. you don’t like going out of your apartment during the day because of tobirama but even then you were still scared to go out at night.
you grabbed a jacket that fit like a cropped jacket and rubbed coco butter all over your body. the jacket showed a bit of your under boob but nobody would see, it was like 3 in the morning so you guessed no one would be out.
you grabbed your dirty clothes bin, knowing you’d have to take 2 trips. you headed out of your apartment room, the atmosphere was empty almost and it was very cold. you didn’t have on any shoes, just socks because you didn’t feel like wearing shoes.
you couldn’t help but get the feeling as if someone was watching you but you shook it off pressing the elevator button. it opened and you stepped inside going to the last floor. once you were there you walked into the laundry room finding a washing machine to go to. you put your clothes inside of it. you carried your bucket back up to your room.
you placed the rest of your clothes in the bucket going back downstairs, putting the rest in another washing machine. you headed back to the elevator, waiting for the doors to open. the doors opened and there stood tobirama.
you dropped your bucket, he looked so much older. his grey hair much longer, his muscles were showing through his navy blue turtle neck. when did he become so buff? you hadn’t seen him since forever. he looked at you and sighed.
“get in.” he told you, his voice deep. “why are you here?” you asked and he leaned from off of the wall of the elevator, “get in and i’ll tell you. i won’t hurt you. i promise.” he stated, staring at you with those red eyes of his.
you picked up your empty bucket, the doors were about to close and he stopped them before you could even walk away, he grabbed you by your arm, pulling you inside, leaving your bucket. he examined your body, “you knew i was coming over.” he stated referring to what you were wearing.
“i’m- i’m not yours anymore.” you told him. when he kidnapped you he told you that he wouldn’t kill you just teach you a lesson about “being in his way”. he did umm...teach you a lesson but it wasn’t that.
“i still didn’t get to teach you a lesson. and yes you still are mine-
“hashirama wouldn’t like that.” you told him and he looked at you angrily, hashirama hated how he treated you. “you have no control over me so just leave me alone. you know hashirama won’t let you get away with-
he stood in front of you getting closer and closer until you heard your back hit the elevator wall. “i need your help again. stop acting like you don’t know what i came for.” he stated and your mind wandered off to the things you used to do when you were his. that’s what you had really wanted to end. you’d try your hardest avoiding because you knew how wrong what you guys had been doing. you thought about what your father would think.
the elevator doors opened and he followed closely behind you. you knew not to yell or scream cause you’ve tried getting away from him before and it wasn’t so pleasant. you used your key to open your door and you walked inside your apartment turning on the lights.
you turned around to look at him, “can you go back and get my bucket?” you asked and he walked past you, looking around your living space. he walked back towards you leaning on the edge of your couch.
“when you give me what i want, yes.” he stated. you sighed, “i’m not giving you anything. this isn’t what i want.” you said.
“are you sure?” he asked and you looked down at his sweatpants seeing how hard he was. you figured you you could use that to your advantage. for some reason, you talking back and being smart to him was a turn on. he hated it but loved it.
you ignored his question going to make yourself a cup of tea. you grabbed the already made tea from your refrigerator, grabbing a cup from the top of the cabinet, your nipple got exposed but you didn’t care, he had already seen your naked body countless times.
you poured you some in a wooden cup and you knew he’d be mad if you didn’t bring him some. you poured him a cup, walking back to him, handing him a cup. “i taught you well.” he said and you rolled your eyes.
“i don’t like you to say the least. you should be grateful that i even thought about you.” you said calmly and he sent a stare your way, his eyes were so intimidating, looking at him face to always scared you, keeping eye contact with him was hard but when you and him did what you did, that fear turned into lust.
once he was done drinking you sat your cups down on the little table you had in your living room. you stood at the arm of the couch again. “i’m getting impatient.” he told you and you sighed.
“well keep waiting, cause you not getting anything from me.” you told him as you watched him go to your room. you just let him do him. your older sister had been staying with you for a while, she had been in love with hashirama, he didn’t care about your father killing his but tobirama on the other hand...he hated you for it, he treated you as if you were responsible then fucked you as his way of saying sorry for treating you like it’s your fault. sometimes he’d just fuck you just because. you knew you were just being used, that’s why you hated everything.
he had his way with females but always came back to you and you always wondered why. you weren’t anything special. he came out of your room and walked back over to you. “Why me? Why do you keep coming back for me?-
he wrapped his hand around your neck and kissed you on your lips. his hands traveled down to your butt grabbing it, your lips parted in shock, he then pulled back kissing you on your neck, “they don’t do it like you. i can hate you all i want but-fuck- you’re addicting.” he growled in your ear. you moaned softly at the feeling of his lips on your neck. you didn’t realize how much you missed this. you needed him as much as he needed you. he lifted you up and you straddled him, he raised your jacket and smiled when he saw your nipple piercing and he looked up at you, “when’d this happen?” he asked, “ right after we stop-stopped having sex but i figured they were pointless though.” you said truthfully.
“why?” he asked and you turned your head as your cheeks went pink embarrassed to say why, “i realized i had nobody to show anymore but now that you’re back-
he took your breast in his mouth, his arm wrapped your waist making sure you didn’t fall. you placed your fingers in his hair, making it messy. you hadn’t had this from him in so long. he took your nipple between his teeth and moaned out in pleasure. he pulled your jacket back down and started to kiss you on your lips, you brung your hand to his cheek, his dick was pressing against your pussy, it was probably the hardest he had ever been. you moved your hips against it, moaning as he kissed you. he groaned as you could feel yourself soaking through your shorts onto his pants.
you pulled off his shirt, examining his body, you licked your lips grazing your hand over his chest landing at his pants. you started to untie his sweatpants, “fuck. look at what you did to my pants.” he said angrily, “it’s your fault.” you told him placing kisses along his neck, “your dick is making me wet, deal with it.” you told him placing hickeys on his neck, still slowly grinding against him, you felt his grip on your waist tighten and his hands now moved your hips against his length, making you even more wet.
“Tobi-Tobirama. fuck. i need it. i need you. i need to feel you inside.” he picked you up aggressively bringing you into your room. he let you go on the bed. he unzipped your jacket and he spread your legs looking at your soaked shorts. he pressed his print against your private area, his thumb brushing over it lightly. you moaned softly and he took out his dick, it was very hard and long. the veins showed clearly. you could feel your pussy start to throb.
he pulled off your shorts and shoved himself inside you and instantly started to pound his dick into your pussy. his hands gripped your waist tightly not letting you move. the feeling of his dick moving against your walls made you moan out in pleasure as you tried your hardest not to wake everyone in the apartment complex up. you tried to adjust to his size since he was so big but there no way you could get used to something this big.
“look at how you take my dick. such a fucking slut.” he told you picking up the pace of his thrust. you were so used to him talking to you rough. in fact you liked it, loved every part of it. your walls tightened around him and he clenched his jaw going harder, “and you wonder why i keep coming back to you? you have no idea how hard it’s been living without feeling this tight pussy of yours. nobody else is enough. nobodytakes me like you. nobody but you gets me like this.” he stated. you had never heard him say things like this so you figured you edge him on. “mhmm?”
“at first i thought, i have too much pride to fuck you but you started teasing me with the shit you wear. i noticed how perfectly curved your body was and how fucking pretty you looked in anything. i blame you-“ he panted wrapping his hand around your throat, fucking you senseless. you were so overwhelmed with everything.
“i blame you for making me so fucking tempted to fuck the shit out of you. i blame that smart mouth. i blame this tight ass pussy. i blame those pretty ass tits. i blame that perfect fucking face of yours and those pretty ass eyes. so fucking enticing.” he says, his hand on your neck getting stronger as he pushes himself inside you over and over again.
“Tobirama-“ you whine out too stuck on what he was saying to even see that you were about to cum. your walls clenched around him and as soon as you came a clear liquid came from your pussy, pouring onto his dick. his dick started to twitch inside you and you felt a warm liquid cum inside you. he pulled his self out of you. his cum spilling out of you onto your sheets. you opened your pussy lips with your fingers watching it come out. you rubbed some on your pussy before he flipped you over.
you arched your back and he rubbed your butt and opened up your pussy lips in the process. you felt his dick push inside you. with him being larger than last time you had no clue had to handle this, especially since this position allowed every single part of his length inside of you “i-its too big.” you told him and he grabbed your waist positioning himself inside you, not caring about what you said. he grabbed your hair roughly. forcing himself inside you further , your moans slowly turned to whimpers. this had felt so good. the sound of your ass clapping against his hips could be heard from outside but you didn’t realize that you had had your window open. you moaned into the pillow taking in his shape.
“hear how fucking wet your pussy is? see how much of a mess you’re making? i don’t care about anything but fucking this pink pussy of yours. ” he said holding your arms back with his hand, pulling you up by your hair. he started going faster and fucking you harder than before, your lips parted in awe of how fast he was going. all you could do was take it. you couldn’t moan or cry. you just had to take it.
“now that i’m back this pussy is mine and always will be. i wanna fuck your forever, wanna cum in you forever, wanna hear those pretty moans forever.” he stated as soon as you started to cum. “fuck. t-tobirama.” you cried as he continued to fuck you. he came inside you and you laid down in your bed out of breath.
you stood up and he grabbed your arm pulling you on top of him. “we’re not finished.” he stated placing his dick back inside you. you could never get used to the feeling. his back was against the head board. “i want you to ride me.” he stated and you placed your hands on his shoulders slowly moving up and down his dick. you started going fast, moaning breathlessly as you did. his hands stayed at your waist and he watched you as you did. your tittles bounced up and down as you rode him, cum dripped out of your pussy as you did so. everything was so messy.
he stared at you as you did this, and you could feel yourself coming, your walls tightened as you moaned out carelessly, tobirama placed his hands on your breast rubbing them gently as you rode him. you moaned out his name loudly, placing your head in his neck. “my legs hurt.” you told him, “let’s hurt them some more.” he stated placing your hands behind your back holding them, he started thrusting hisself inside of you and you started to tremble instantly. you were overwhelmed mentally and physically but still, he wanted to fuck you. your mind went blank, only moans came from your mouth and throaty groans coming from tobirama along with the sound of you getting fucked messily. your legs started to shake and his dick became unbearable, he started fucking you harder, getting deeper each stroke until finally both of you came. cum dripped out of your pussy onto his dick. you were filled with 3 full loads of his cum.
he kissed you on your shoulder, gently as you started to go to sleep. “come on. you can go to sleep after we take a shower. i know you’re tired.” he stated. you rolled off of him lifting up your leg to show him that it was still shaking.
“i can’t stand up.” you told him and he smiled, putting on his sweatpants rummaging through your drawers, “What the fuck do i get you to wear?” he asked and you smiled, “just a t-shirt and a pair of panties. i’ll be fine but what about you? i kinda sorta messed up your sweat pants.” you told him. “you still have my clothes from the last time i was here?” he asked and you shrugged your shoulders. “no but i uhh...bought you some clothes in case you ever came back.” you told him embarrassed.
“so you push me away but somehow still hoped for me to come back? so what was the point in you even avoiding me?” he asked and you threw your jacket at him, “to show you that you can’t always have your way with me and i felt guilty for a long time letting you fuck me because you always made it a big deal before we even started having sex. you hated me-
“i still do. i will always hate you but my way of hating you works.” he said grabbing the clothes you left for him and you rolled your eyes. “i’m kidding. you’re way too good of a fuck and calming to be around for me to hate you.” he stated as he picked you up off the bed bridal style.
“we probably made a lot of noise.” he stated and you sighed burying your head into his neck, “i know and i don’t care.”

The IzuTobi Prequel
Prequel to this post, which I’ve taken to calling the “Red Eyes = Spouse Material” AU.
WARNING: contains a reference to worries/fears of sexual coercion.
Like, okay, they did not know that Tobirama had red eyes at first. They weren't close enough on the river for Izuna to see, since he didn't have Sharingan yet, while Tajima and Madara were looking at their respective opponents, not Tobirama.
Then, once they were in their early teens, and Izuna already had his Sharingan, they met on the battlefield for the first time, and Izuna saw Tobirama's eyes. Sure, Tobirama wouldn't meet his gaze, but Izuna could still see him.
And Izuna, as is only natural, went to Madara to ask 'hey uhhhhhhhhh one of our enemies is actually Amaterasu-blessed, what do.'
And Madara's just like '!!!!!' because hey actually this is great news everybody knows that the first step upon meeting an unmarried stranger with red eyes is to figure out who the best person to court them is, they can get a marriage alliance out of this to end the bloodshed and child death! Even the Elders can't argue against having a clan marriage to an Amaterasu-blessed indivi--
They object.
Well, Tajima objects.
Madara and Izuna bring the issue to him, both pretty excited about doing the whole "arranged engagement in the early teens, actual marriage at twenty or so" thing as a way to stop killing kids but Nope! For a variety of reasons, most of which boil down on Tajima's side to "the Senju have killed three of my children, I have no interest in taking in one of their own," the plan is shot down.
Madara and Izuna are naturally devastated but keep an eye out for like. A chance. To slip the info to Tobirama or Hashirama so they're at least aware of the possibility for when Tajima dies, in case Butsuma is more open to it?
I can't decide if they actually manage to set up a Secret Meeting prior to their dads' deaths, but I'm leaning towards 'no.'
(In this plot, Izuna is still wary of the Senju, but much more open to the idea of peace on account of Auspicious Omens Are Here.)
Anyway, Tajima dies first, I think, and Madara's first act as Clan Head is to send Hashirama a request by hawk for a private meeting. Hashirama is still only heir, not Clan Head, but Butsuma is ill (infected wound, I think), so Hashirama has the option of accepting this.
They meet, and Madara explains that he can sway most of the clan into an alliance--not just an armistice, but an actual alliance, possibly even establish that village they talked about as kids--if they can marry Tobirama into the Uchiha.
"Does it have to be Tobirama?" Hashirama asks, because he's not the best brother, but he's good enough to know that Tobirama hates the idea of getting married.
"Yes," Madara says, and then explains that it's all in the eyes, that this is a deeply spiritual thing to the clan and while some of the more militant elders may object, most of the clan will take the red eyes as a sign that this is intended to happen.
And Hashirama is quiet, and then asks if a marriage would require Tobirama to sire any children.
"We're not going to try to steal a kekkei genkai."
"That's not it."
"...wait, does he prefer men? We can--we can make that happen. If it's... hell, in that case it might work better, he could marry me or Izuna, direct connection to the main house, skip the issue of heirs and--"
"No, that's not... not it. But it makes me feel better to know that. I'll have to run it past him."
Tobirama is VERY ace and Hashirama had strict plans to respect that so he's trying to feel out if consummation would be required, or if a kiss for the wedding and then cohabitation would be enough.
Internal logic is "I want peace but not at the expense of handing my brother over for coerced marital rape where he thinks he can't say no without restarting the war."
He manages to get the agreement that the Uchiha weren't looking to pressure Tobirama into any sex-related things, though Madara still thinks it's a matter of Bloodline Protection and that Hashirama is worried about, like, someone trying to steal surplus semen or something.
Hashirama goes home and outlines it to Tobirama, who is very ??? about the whole thing but willing to at least consider it after Hashirama explains the basic requirements and how he confirmed that sexual relations aren't necessary. Hashirama floats it past Butsuma as a Theoretical Exercise, and is shot down.
So, Hashirama sends Madara a letter to the effect of "Our esteemed Clan Head says no, but we'll keep it in mind [insert veiled implication that Butsuma's dying anyway here]."
Madara and Hashirama have always kinda held back against each other, but now Tobirama and Izuna are also holding back the teensiest bit, just enough that nobody can be sure (and tell Butsuma or and Elder about it).
Well, Touka notices, but her first resort is "ask Tobirama to his face" and second resort is "bother Hashirama about it" so she gets the rundown on how Madara and Izuna are angling to get a political marriage with Tobirama since his eyes are Apparently a spiritual matter to the Uchiha as a whole.
Obviously, Butsuma dies, and Hashirama then immediately sends Madara a letter like "HEY so I'm Clan Head now, here's a nice inn located in neutral territory, bring your brother and an advisor, I'll do the same, let's hammer out a contract ASAP."
So it's Hashirama, Tobirama, and Touka on one side, Madara, Izuna, and Hikaku on the other.
Tobirama explains that he refuses to engage in sexual relations with anyone he marries (internally he's thinking that he might eventually take interest if he gets comfortable enough, but overall the entire concept is a little disgusting to him, and he doesn't want anyone to think they can convince him to do it, so he takes a hardline stance during the marriage contract negotiation process), but is open to his marriage partner engaging in an extramarital affair for a period of time in order to secure an heir.
"I promise we're not trying to steal your--" "Madara. Look at me. I do not like sex, and have never had any intention to engage in the activity with anyone, Uchiha or Senju or any clan at all. I had no plans for marriage, ever. The only reason I am opening myself to this one is because I value the opportunity for peace." "...oh."
So, you know, that's out in the open now, but it actually makes it easier to negotiate because they now know why he's uncomfortable with the idea of marriage, so other things (like the cohabitation and dowry and whatnot) can be discussed without people getting resentful about the other party not trusting them with genetic material. Hashirama and Madara get really excited about the whole village idea again, in part because Hashirama wants his brother to be able to visit Really Easily.
At one point they ask Tobirama who he wants to marry, if there's anyone he's interested in? Male or female? What ages is he comfortable with? Main line would be most politically expedient, but--
And he's just like "I know Izuna best, as my rival, and I've taken note of enough recently to know he's not a terrible person, at least as far as any shinobi can be 'good.' If Izuna is open to it, then I would like to discuss what cohabitation would look like between us. Should our expectations of daily life line up well enough, then I imagine that would be optimal."
Izuna's torn, because Amaterasu-blessed, but also he'd kind of been hoping for a Real Marriage with Affection and Children. Touka loudly suggests they take a recess and let Tobirama and Izuna talk in private for a bit.
Izuna manages to get across his personal worries, and Tobirama laughs and says that he actually loves children and was planning to take on plenty of students. "If you don't like the option of the extramarital affair for a child, we could always adopt. As for affection... I've been told I cling like an eel in my sleep, if that suggests anything."
"So if I grew enough feelings that I wanted, like... a good morning kiss or something..." "Quite frankly, my feelings on kissing in general are pretty neutral. It's a little strange, but I could engage with it, once a rapport is built. Heavy petting is distasteful, however, and anything past that..."
And Izuna listens to all that like "Oh. Okay, I will be able to Acquire Cuddles."
Then they discuss the whole 'what do we anticipate out of cohabitation' thing, like pets and cleanliness standards and what spare rooms are for and what goes on in the basement and allergies. It matches up... not perfectly, really, but close enough that they can make it work. They shake hands like the nerds they are and call their families back in and say they've decided it'll work so let's get that paperwork drawn up and start planning a wedding.
Aaaaaaaaaaand then Zetsu kills Izuna and convinces Madara that it was Tobirama's fault so he loses the plot (or, well, finds the canon plot, really).
I'm happy to imagine Tobirama and Izuna on a couch in their house, Izuna halfway asleep and leaning his head on Tobirama's shoulder, while Tobirama's got on a pair of glasses and is reading a book.
Just. Really domestic.
Cutesy.
IDK I feel like they just end up as pleasant roommates who don't necessarily ignore each other, but are well aware of the fact that they entered into this arrangement with non-romance expectations, and they're both okay with that.
They take dinner together, talk shop, try to engage with each other's hobbies, go to events as each other's default plus-one...
It’s Nice

Tobirama with a trophy wife 😳🤣
When I saw this request I didn’t know what to feel or think at first, but the idea turned out to be so funny to me that I had to give it a try lmao
Anon I hope you don’t mind if it doesn’t come out exactly the way you imagined bc this is my first time writing this sort of thing and I really don’t know what I’m doing but anyways, here we have Tobi with a 🏆 wife
Fandom: Naruto | Tobirama Senju
Symbols: 💗 | 💜 | 💚
Tumblr media
Things were never that easy for you and your family: war, poverty and other unpleasing circumstances molded your ways in life
You were never given the chance to be romantic. For a poor girl who wasn’t a ninja, the safest way to achieve something in life was through marriage. And a man from an important clan was your goal
There were a good amount of single guys who fit these requirements around
It didn’t make your work easy, though: ninjas don’t have much time to think of building a family if they’re not the head of their clan, and if they are they would only choose someone on their level
Besides, there were those clans whose members were not allowed to marry outsiders like the Uchiha and the Hyugga
But, well, the Senju were around and were more “progressive” than their allies towards these matters
You didn’t even take a look at their head, Hashirama: man was clearly reserved to some princess from a good family
And tbh you wouldn’t spend an entire day by his side without being annoyed by his dramatic manners
However, he had a younger brother who seemed to have all the intelligence and seriousness that lacked in him and looked like a prince just like him
Tobirama was his name, and unlike the other Senju he was a real challenge
He was clever enough to see through people's intentions, focused enough on his work to ignore you as if you were part of the furniture and too grumpy to let himself being led by a girl as a simple minded man would do
All of this just made things more interesting for you
By that time, the clans’ compounds were always in need of people to work on them, performing tasks that were impossible (or unworthy) to be performed by shinobi
This meant endless space for female workers
You took your chance and applied to work on the head’s house
Unfortunately for you, there were other girls with the same mindset as you working there
The environment was always tense with silent competition: they came first and wouldn’t give up their place for nothing
You knew that the solution was to find a way to surpass them without using the same tactics as them, since they clearly didn’t work: the Senjus were still single and those girls were still servants
Observing them, you noticed they all acted the same way: they would fight for attention, but once they got it, they didn’t know what to do, an the men’s interest quickly disappeared
You would have to do the opposite
You were always gentle, showed good manners and kept your mouth shut for most of the time, just like expected from a servant
You were dedicated to your job as if you were there just for it
But during your free times you took some minutes to educate yourself sneaking through the library and reading the scrolls, most of them filled with poetry or historical content
However, you were careful not to keep yourself apart from the other girls, otherwise they would find out what you were doing. You made one or two friends just to keep up with everything
This plan of yours worked right at the first month… But with Hashirama
He somehow started to talk to you, pointing out how silent and “different” you were
You just smiled and pretended you knew nothing about being different
As the days passed, however, some sort of friendship grew between you two, and you were now assigned to work closer to him, who were always with his brother
Hashirama often talked to you as a good friend, even in Tobirama’s presence
You soon saw your chance there and watched your steps when Tobirama was around
Because of Hashirama’s influence, he started to talk directly to you as well. Most of the times he just asked you favors or gave you orders, but every interaction counted
One day, you thought the Senjus were not at home and went to the library to finish a reading you’ve started the past week
You were there for some minutes when the doors were suddenly opened and Tobirama came in
“What are you doing here?” was his natural first question
Well, Tobirama was not like his brother, so an excuse weren’t going to work on him. You told him the truth: you’ve been visiting the library to read during your free time, but you didn’t want anyone to know because you were afraid of being scolded
Tobirama said he was not going to scold you for wanting to read some scrolls and even gave you permission to keep visiting the library after work
Then you started to talk about the scroll’s content. It was your first informal conversation
You were not blind to his qualities: he was smart, observant, articulated... You were more and more convinced that having a man like that as your husband was an achievement like no other
Hashirama was the first to notice the change in your interactions and started talking in your favor to his brother
You were more than happy with this
One day, you were talking to Hashirama and managed to discreetly compliment his brother
Tobirama came at that right time and overheard the conversation
You quickly excused yourself and ran out from the place
From that moment, Hashirama gave you the support you didn’t request but welcomed anyway
One day, your hard work finally seemed to pay off: Tobirama came to you during your free time claiming that he wanted to discuss something important with you
You went to a private place that reminded you of a garden. Was that a good sign?
You were nervous but managed to discreetly ask him why you were there
The way he looked at you before answering sent chills down your spine
But then came his words
“You do not need to keep pretending, y/n. I know everything”
Oh. God. What were going to happen to you now? Were you going to be fired? Exposed? Killed?
Tobirama never seemed so scary to you before. But he must have noticed the fear in your face, because his next words were sort of assuring
“Do not be afraid. I did not bring you here to scold you. I brought you here to say that I admire your cleverness and courage to try such thing with one of us. Let me say that your plan would work with a man like my brother. But unfortunately for you, I am from a different kind”
Despite your goals and methods, you still saw yourself as an honest girl, so you just told him your whole story and the things that led you to such ways
You also confessed that as time passed and you observed him and his brother working together as a team and a family, some changes occurred in your vision of them
You were impressed with something you’ve never dreamed of experiencing yourself
Your heart was divided: you had to assure your own comfort in life, but at the same time you no longer wanted to act that way towards him and Hashirama
He didn’t make it clear if he believed you or not, but it didn’t matter, for his next measure was even more shocking
“Y/n, I will be honest with you. In a strange way, I like you. And I sense that this feeling can grow into attachment if I give room to it”
“What do you mean with give room to it, Tobirama-sama?”
“I want to say that this is exactly my intention. I brought you here to inform you that I am going to talk to my brother about our marriage”
You had to do your best to not pass out after hearing that
Despite knowing you didn’t love him and hearing your true intentions from your mouth, he was willing to make you his wife. Why?!
“But, Tobirama-sama… why? Why would you marry someone after all you just heard? Besides, you don’t even love me. I don’t understand… Nothing justifies such decision!”
His response was to approach you and whisper in your ear
“Consider this as part of your punishment”
The other day, you were sent to Hashirama’s presence (Tobirama was not there)
He congratulated you for your engagement and explained that from now on you will have to call him your brother, for you no longer were a servant, but his brother’s future wife
He then came to hug you with all his strength, leaving all his composure aside
Everything happened so fast that day that you felt like you were inside a dream: you were sent to a new room, with new clothes and everything you needed
One of your old colleagues were sent to take care of you, and the surprise (and envy) on her face was impossible to disguise
However, you couldn’t say that it was a perfect dream: you finally got what you wanted, yes, but this didn’t bring you the satisfaction it was supposed to bring
The next days, you felt strange in Tobirama’s presence, and you sensed that the more you felt like that, longer was the time he spent with you, acting as if everything was okay
You can say that after your marriage, your life in fact changed, but not exactly for the better
Unlike the period you worked as a servant, you had some comfort and a good amount of free time now, but you soon found out that it didn’t mean true happiness
At first, you thought Tobirama would be a terrible husband in each way possible, but to your surprise, this was not what happened
He was always polite with you whether in front of others or in particular, but you would never call that gentleness
When you were alone, he was almost always busy with his own stuff and you were left to do the same with yours, which was never enough to fill your free time, so you weren’t spared from moments of boredom and loneliness
(Besides, his working process while creating his jutsu was kinda scary to you, so you never got close to his office during these occasions)
In the occasional times he took you, he never hurt nor humiliated you, but neither he was as warm and passionate as you’d like him to be
Apart from that, there was no regular physical affection between you two: a kiss on your temple or a brief touch on your hand was everything you would gain
You finally understood that this is what he meant when he said he was going to “punish” you: you would reach your goal, but you’d never get rid of the sensation that something was missing in your life
As time passed, however, some genuine feeling seemed to grow between you. It was nothing like love, but some sort of partnership
When Tobirama went to the battlefield, you found yourself worried about the possibility of seeing him alive for the last time, and when he came back with serious injuries you never abandoned the room where he was treated
When you got pregnant and was going to give birth to your first child, you were scared, but he was there to assure you and to help with anything necessary
Yes, after a long time you learned your lesson and grew as a person
And he learned to see in you more than he first expected to see
Despite everything, you could say you built a good life as a family
And yes, it was true that you still couldn’t give yourself the luxury of being romantic
But maybe the love you managed to get for you was actually the kind of love that works for you

Hi! Could You write about how could tobirama react at a female s/o flirting with him?
Tobirama strikes me as a man who has the mindset that the man is supposed to make the first move, but he’s also a little bitch and won’t make the first move most of the time, because that means he’s vying for another’s attention, and that’s just not really a Tobirama thing? Anyway, Tobirama flirting is like ugh, not even worth it.
Tobirama also strikes me as a man who could easily fall for someone he’s worked closely with. A very unsuspecting person where the friendship (acquaintanceship??) is built up over a long period of time and then one day, Tobirama realizes he has real feelings for this person and damnit. Anyway, we’re gonna roll with this type of scenario.
Anyway, he’s minding his own business, living his life, and here comes a little miss, who isn’t his S/O yet, but she’s pretty close to him. And for the most part things are pretty normal, they discuss their normal work related things and the occasional non work things, and it’s all jolly good.
BUT THEN, as she’s getting ready to leave to do whatever, and she does that classic little touch on the arm/hand for a couple seconds as she’s saying goodbye with a sweeter than normal smile. Y’all know what I’m talking about.
So she leaves and Tobirama’s like “what just happened?” Like who even has the guts to touch him? Also, now you’ve confused him. Sure, he may have feelings, but he’s not going to act on them. Though now he’s questioning if you have something for him, but also if he’s reading into that two second interaction way too much.
Tobirama being himself would probably just dismiss it initially. You think he’s going to make himself look like a fool by overanalyzing this girl potentially being just a nice person? NOPE- though she’s never done that to him or anyone else before, but still, nope.
Anyway, this girl’s really got her work cut out to flirt with him enough for him to really get the message, because he will overanalyze everything, but eventually dismiss it all as nothing to save face.
Poor girly will do things like ask him to walk with her when she’s gotta run papers over the the buildings next door and will casually bump into him just to get his attention, but he’s just like stares at her like, ‘do I need to take you to the hospital to check if you have a brain tumor bc your balance is absolute shit.’
She’ll also do little things like make sure he looks good before going into important meetings. Like make sure his collar is straight or his hair is out of his face- and she acts like she’s done this for him forever, but Tobirama is internally like, “what is she doing?”
Lots of little subtle comments. Lots.
Like he’s a mix of silently flustered and confused, but also the slightest bit annoyed because everything is unexpected/unpredictable now? Can’t read her signs? He’s an overanalyzing mess, and is really completely useless in a situation like this.

6, 19, 23? ;)
OOC:
It will be a looong post))) prepare yourself
6. Character you dislike and why.
In fact there quite a lot of characters I have a problem with but I here I will speak only about characters I dislike the most.
Number one of this characters is Sakura. She supposed to be a main female character of the story but I don't find her interesting or likeable at all. At the beginning of the manga her attitude towards Naruto is quite bad and she is extremely selfish. And her obsession with Sasuke is downright creepy. That scene when she thinks that she won't mind to see him pee just because who he is? Disgusting. During story he clearly rejected her many, many times but she keeps chasing after him anyway. Every moment she says she loves him is never about him and always about her. She doesn't understand him and doesn't make any attempt to. If they genders were reversed I doubt anyone would have liked her(him in that case). I think that if she would have overgrown her infatuation with Sasuke it would have done wonders to her character growth. (But ratings and money they bring prevented it).
Number two of the characters I strongly dislike is Tobirama. Why? He is a bad person and an even worse ruler. He was the root (ironic, isn't it?) of the most problems in the story. Root existence, Uchiha oppression and eventually massacre. Even Orochimaru (!) called him out! And he still somehow get prized for what he did.
Third character in my "dislike" list is Naruto himself which can be surprising for some people. Storytelling wise he is an interesting character - he started as an underdog and finished as a champion of the system he himself was a victim of. That in fact makes him terrifyingly realistic. And narrative portraits him as a hero and a generally good guy but if you look at him a little bit closer you can see that while he speaks about change (even shouts about it) he never acts on it. He wants "to become a hokage" but never really understands what does it mean until he becomes one. He considers Sasuke as his best friend but he doesn't understand him either and doesn't respect his wishes or feelings. They were in one team for what? 9 month or so? And than were apart for three years and yet Naruto still insist that he is his best friend. (Don't tell me that if when you are 16 you met some guy who was your friend when you were 13 and he insisted you are still friends and you absolutely must return to your hometown, you'll just go with him an will jump right back into your friendship). Instead of trying to understand his so called "best friend" and trying to help him or respecting his opinion while still disagreeing with them, he just beated Sasuke into submission, guilt tripped him and called it "saving him". (From what?) Naruto almost always acts like he can't be wrong but he totally can.
There are also two characters I have love-hate relationships with. It's Itachi and Hashirama. I have very conflicted feelings about them bit I won't elaborate about it in this post.
19. What do you think about ending?
I don't like the ending. I don't like the whole 4th shinobi war arc. It could have been a really interesting one about realistic war like glimpses of the previous shinobi wars we had during the story. What we got instead is feeling very meaningless with all that power/level-ups and ridiculous transformations. Like it is just for the sake of show and ratings. Their attempts to pair characters up makes things even worse. I won't even speak about sweeping under the rug all the problems that was brought up earlier in the story.
I hate the ending.
End of the story.
23. Who is the best Hokage?
That's a tricky question because I don't particularly like any of them. But I still think that Tsunade was probably the best one because at least she tried to do some things better (not many of them but still). Hashirama maybe a second best but he is still fucked up big time.
If you want to know who from the rest of characters might be the best Hokage, I think its Ino (surprising, yes?) She has brains and diplomacy for that position, her power is good for coordinating a lot of people on buttlerield. She is also badass, well liked and not biased.

Good Enough [Part Two] Sink or Swim [Madara Uchiha]
Tumblr media
“I know it’s not my place to ask … but how exactly did this happen to you?”
Kirino – being curious – was referring to the abrasion on her sister’s fair skin. It was an eye sore. She rubbed her finger over it, gauging the impressions until Kururi swiped at her. Serious as it was, she couldn’t help it. Her sister was a feverish mess and for some reason it intrigued her. Then again, it’s very unbecoming of her to act so helpless. She was anything but, in her opinion.
Kururi was tactful, even though her moods changed on a whim. She was also a skilled kunoichi, able to stand toe to toe with even Madara; which is why Kirino thought it was surprising to hear that she yielded to him so easily. Unless, she thought. Maybe she knew.
“Do you plan to answer my question, or continue to pout like a scolded brat?”
Kururi met her eyes in the reflection of the mirror she sat in front of. Her lip curled up into a scowl. “Don’t ridicule me. What’s more, I already told you what happened.”
“Then maybe I should rephrase my question,” Kirino said. She pulled a brush through her sister’s soft, damp hair – the knots were nearly out. “Capable as you are … why let them treat you like they did? Am I to believe that you’ve gone weak.”
“You know that I haven’t. I just don’t exactly know how to explain it. Their actions were baseless, and I let my guard down because … well because I liked the feeling of having Madara covet me.”
The youngest chuckled. “And you said he wasn’t one to court. I warned you; maybe not in those words, but I did.”
“Easy there, baka.” Kururi rolled up her eyes in annoyance. “You have no idea how absurd that sounds. Not once in the many years I’ve known him have I seen him take interest in another person.”
“That’s because you’re not looking with your eyes,” Kirino professed. She drummed the brush against the back of her head to emphasize her point. “Your mind is your strongest ally, but sometimes you overthink things. Take now for instance. You keep telling yourself that Ma-kun doesn’t have an interest in you, and the more you do, the more you believe it. Doesn’t mean that you’re wrong, but there’s something going on between the two of you.”
This made Kururi doubt herself. She always pondered every option; the good and the bad. It could be that along the way she forced herself to ignore the obvious chemistry between Madara and herself. It was him that initiated the kiss with her. In fact, he did it the previous time too. Still, that didn’t excuse the way he treated her this morning. No man, no matter how much Kururi fancied them, would ever manipulate her. Not even Madara Uchiha.
Huffing in annoyance, she curled her arms beneath her chest and glared at the abrasion on her neck. “Even if there is, I just can’t excuse the fact he let Izuna bite me. Marks like this just don’t fade on us.”
“I don’t blame you, but honestly … was it that bad?”
Kururi snorted. “You say such unusual things sometimes.” Taking a minute to reflect on it, she agreed that it was indeed bad. “It hurt horribly, so yes.” Not even Kirino could change her mind about this. Madara was the only person – besides Izuna – to have consumed her chakra. It was a dire situation and even then, she hated it.
“What's more, it feels weird. It reminds me of drowning,” she added quietly. “Fighting to resurface, but I can’t. The current only pulls me further along until I haven’t the strength to move. I feel almost helpless this way.”
“Why not just let go. It might not be so bad given the right cir– ”
Kururi interrupted her. “Don’t say it … just don’t.”
She frankly didn’t want to think about it. Her mind was still not set on what to do. All she knew was that the next time she saw Madara she was going to chew him out for what he did. Betrayed; that was the only word she could think of to define how she felt right now. To even consider letting him use her again made her blood pump harder, keen to beat the hell out of him. Kururi didn’t even know she was clutching her fingers into a fist until Kirino brought her out of her thoughts by yanking her hair.
She whined in protect, shooting the woman a fiery glare. “The hell was that for?”
Fat tears poured from her sister’s round, colorless eyes. “Your chakra is scary when you get mad. It’s making me nervous.”
“Sorry,” Kururi said with embarrassment. Again, she didn’t realize she had been doing it. She did her deep breathing exorcises and waited for Kirino to resume her previous task before stopping them.
Quietness fell over them for a small amount of time until an unrelated thought came to Kirino. She chuckled softly. “If I remember accurately, it was Ma-kun who stole your first kiss.”
Kururi puckered her brow. “We were barely adults back then. I was so unexperienced.” That was a random thing to say.
“That should have been the moment you knew,” Kirino stated with a laugh. She drummed the brush against her sister’s head again. “You may be smart, but sometimes you’re pretty dense. It could be the reason Ma-kun teases you so.”
“That doesn’t even make sense.” Kururi ignored the fact she just called her slow and rolled her eyes. “And since when did you start nicknaming him that? You’ve said it three times now.”
Kirino grinned deliberately. “Since the moment I knew you were in love with him.”
In hindsight, the moment she said this, she should have expected retaliation from her sister, but Kirino being too slow to react was caught in a headlock. She waved her arms frantically, crying as Kururi flicked her head over and over. Luckily for her, a sudden rap at the door made her stop.
“My lady,” called out a gentle voice. “Sorry to disturb you, but Lord Hashirama is here. He wishes to speak with you privately.”
Hashirama!? What could he want? Kururi wondered if his unexpected visit had something to do with earlier. It was possible, which is why she was unsure about letting him in. “Can it wait until tomorrow? It’s sort of late.”
“He said it was urgent. I’m very sorry.”
Kururi huffed in annoyance. She was curious, therefore she decided to see him. “Take him to my workroom. I’ll speak with him there.” She could hear the housemaid retreat down the hallway, and took a moment to make herself look presentable. The wrap she wore was pulled up to her neck and snugly tied to prevent the mark from being seen.
Arising, she said her goodnights and left Kirino alone, unhurriedly walking to her private workroom were Hashirama was patently waiting. Entering, she saw him peering at her pressed flowers. Each one was cased in glass and framed on the wall; a hobby of hers she quite loved.
“Pretty, are they not?”
Hashirama turned and smiled at her. “Exceedingly … but do they stay like this forever?”
“Sadly, no. Eventually their color fades,” Kururi retorted. She watched Hashirama for a brief second, appreciating her work, then deeply sighed. “It’s late, Hashi.”
“Sorry, Kururi. I couldn’t put it off much longer.”
She hummed in wonder. “Have a seat then. Make yourself comfortable.”
“I won’t be long,” he stated. “I’m very busy as of late, but I wanted to stop by and check up on you. Earlier you seemed upset.”
So I was right. He did notice. Kururi masked her uneasiness with a laugh. “Is that all? I’m fine, really. Please don’t worry about my problems.” She took another deep breath. “I’m relieved though. I honestly thought the worst.”
Hashirama puckered a brow. He didn’t buy her front, but he also couldn’t do anything about it either.
She misinterpreted his curious look. “I thought you came here to say that you regretted our decision to nominate Madara.”
His brown eyes widened in shock. “No. Of course not – what would make her say that? I do believe in all honesty that Madara deserves the title of Hokage, but that’s not why I came here to see you. The issue does involve him, though.”
Again, the scarlet haired woman hummed. She motioned for him to continue, intent to hear.
“He’s smitten with you. It’s not a serious matter, but I worry he will make it one. Sometimes he comes off a little possessive,” Hashirama stated all at once. Frankly, he didn’t know how to address it. This seemed to be the only way.
“And you know this how?”
“I’ve seen the way he looks at you.”
Kururi scoffed at this. “What do you suggest I do then? Cover my face?”
She was playing the fool; Hashirama knew. He gave her a stern look. “Keep in mind that you are the only female he’s ever shared his life with. It wouldn’t surprise me if now he’s wanting you as just that.”
I doubt that. To keep from arguing with him, Kururi agreed. She frankly didn’t want to think about it anymore. A change in subject was the only solution. “Busy you say. Has it to do with the upcoming election?”
Hashirama took the bait, huffing a sigh of annoyance. “I just want a minute to relax, but Tobirama won’t let me. He would have signed the blank note for me if I had not; he’s too serious about all this.”
“Blank note?”
“The balloting note,” he confirmed. “It’s the paper the council gave you to have Madara sign, since you nominated him. I assumed that was what held you earlier.”
Kururi remembered – only she left in a hurry before she got him to sign it. A dark, foreboding cloud hung over her head. “I completely forgot.” She must have tossed it somewhere as soon as she got back; her desk probably. Hurrying over to it, she set aside clan documents and other unimportant papers, looking for it. A humorous laugh from Hashirama briefly tore her eyes away from the task.
“Hashi, this is serious. The note has to be signed and given to the Elders by morning or else Madara won’t be allowed to run,” she said nervously. “They will assume he declined the offer.” Her mind was racing, but thankfully she found it.
Clutching the note in her hand, she darted towards the bright eyed man. “Please, as a favor. Can you take this to Madara tonight?”
He frowned. Honestly, he would have, but he couldn’t. “I have plan to meet with Tobirama in the morning. He has documents he wants me to look over before the meeting. I’m sorry, Kururi.”
I’ll have to go, she thought. But it’s late. He’s probably in bed. There weren’t many options for her to choose from. Kururi would have to go and wake him up. She couldn’t imagine what kind of foul mood he’d be in.
“At best,” Hashirama interrupted, putting his large hand over her shoulder. “I can keep the council from making their decision at first light, but that is all. I’ll have to reschedule with my brother, but for you, I don’t mind.”
Kururi sighed in relief. “Thank you, Hashi. Let’s be honest though, you agreed because you don’t want to do any work.”
“Am I that obvious?”
She nodded. “I won’t tell. You’re doing me a favor after all.”
His hand squeezed her shoulder; all jokes aside. “You are family. For that I cannot help but to worry about you.”
“Go home and rest, Hashi. I’ll be fine,” Kururi assured him with a fake smile.
She certainly hoped so, but a bad feeling told her otherwise.
Why not let go? How bad could it be to have love?
She wanted to know.

✩ Naruto: Guarded
The Story Below is from my previous blog NarutoHeartImagines but I would like to continue the story so I’m moving it to this blog. You’ll be able to choose different character routes in this story and I may add more characters later.
Tumblr media
☰ Story Summary
You find yourself the target of an assassination plot, you are the last in line of a rare lineage. The soul survivor of a once powerful clan with powerful abilities, you however are still rather young and have struggled to release these abilities and powers your clan was known for. You were raised in a village with your true identity hidden from the world, however the truth got out and while you were trained in ninja arts you are not strong enough to defend yourself from your pursuers and those wishing to kill you. Because of this the village decided it would be safest for you to be guarded at all times, as well as moving locations to an old Onsen resort. Located in an area where those who wish you harm would never think to look for you, the elders who have made this decision for you only offer you one choice. Who would you like to guard you?
☰ Story Introduction
You sat alone in your room quietly by the window sill staring out the window with a longing expression on your face. Suddenly there was a knock at your door and moments later one of the male elders was walking into your room followed by one of the female elders.
He was loud and always seemed to be agitated and a sense of urgency about him, while she was more quiet, timid with a more motherly attitude towards you. He said your name loudly and you turned your head slightly to just barely be able to make eye contact with him, but you didn’t say anything to him. “Have you made a decision yet m'lady?” he questioned lightening his tone for a moment, but then he got serious again.
“Time IS of the essence here, if you refuse to make a decision here we will be forced to choose for you.” he spoke but it sounded more like you were getting a scolding by the tone of his voice with you.
“Now, now don’t rush the poor girl, after all she knows how urgent this is.” the woman said sweetly but also seemed to suggest that you make a decision. You scooted to the edge of your seat to face them and made eye contact with them, “Actually, I have made my choice.” you admitted plainly without acting as if you cared very much over the situation at all, it wasn’t that you were thrilled to be doing this but you didn’t hate the idea.
You understood the importance and appreciated how far everyone was willing to go to keep you safe, even though you sometimes felt as if you were burdening others simply because of your lineage since this whole ordeal began.
“I would like for it to be _______.” you spoke the name of the one you wished to be your body guard for the time being. In fact you had no idea how long this whole situation would be for now that you really thought about it, which made you rather concerned.
You hated the idea of troubling others with this after all you had no control over what clan you were born into, or who you were anyways so it felt weird to have this special treatment.
“Excellent choice.” the man said seeming to approve completely over your decision, “I will continue with the plans.” the man said in a serious tone but he seemed to lighten up a bit now that he knew your choice, he left your room quickly like he was on a mission.
“Make sure to get ready quickly now, we’ll need to leave tonight.” the woman spoke sounding more urgent this time. “We have no time to waste so make sure you’re packed and ready to go.” she suggested as she left your room and closed the door slowly behind her.
You were left alone in your room again, alone with your thoughts. You often blamed yourself for the circumstances because you hadn’t unlocked your powers and abilities yet, though it’s not as if you knew much about them to begin with. You did not have any family or clan members to help you learn or understand your hidden powers and abilities.
It was something you had to figure out on your own and you knew you would be more useful and wouldn’t need protection like this if only you could unlock them. But for now it was best to just go along with things and cause as little trouble for others as you could, you pushed your thoughts aside and began packing your things.
You had no idea how long this adventure would last and therefore packed anything you thought you may need as if you may never return. Later that night there was a knock on your door and moments later the elder man from earlier entered,
“It’s time.” the man said urgently and you grabbed your things and followed him out of your room, you followed him outside and you were placed inside a carriage. The man was not going with you but instead a handful of special ops ninja dressed as merchants were escorting you to the secret destination. You went along with everything passively seeing no reason to refuse or cause problems and settled in for the long ride.
After what felt like an eternity you had finally arrived at the hidden location you would be staying at with your body guard for the time being. Stepping out of the carriage you looked around at the place it was beautiful yet secluded in the forest, the building was large and looked almost like a feudal Japanese castle. The place was huge with hot springs in the back and from the outside it looked massive and wondered how many rooms there were and if you’d be able to remember your way around.
“Come along.” you suddenly heard one of your guards tell you as he motioned at you with his hand, as you were walking to towards the building with him, he was explaining that there were guards aside from your main body guard that would be there to help keep an eye on the perimeter of the building and to help keep things secure, they would raise the alert if anything seemed to be out of place or unusual.
He also explained that there would also be staff and servants that would look after the upkeep of the place and were there to take care of you. The whole situation was beginning to make you feel more and more uncomfortable and awkward, it’s not as if you were a princess and that’s how they were beginning to make you feel.
You walked into the building with your guard and he led you through a few rooms, explaining that your body guard was in the next room. Advising that it would be best to try and get along with them for the time being, and suggesting you be on your best behavior and to listen to your body guard to ensure your safety in this situation.
With this advise he turned and walked away leaving you to meet your body guard all on your own, though there were two guards by the door way behind you, so you weren’t truly alone even here. You felt like you wouldn’t really be alone again for quite some time.

reading is emotional, part 13
So I read volumes 11, 12, and 13 several months ago, at the end of September, and then real life basically interrupted any attempt to write a reactions summary. So in lieu of that, I'll just pull my initial impressions from a Naruto group chat I participate in:
Jiraiya's intro is horrible - why is he a fan fave again? - but it also overpowers the most important thing in that scene: a foreign seal had been placed on top of Minato's work and was interfering with the original. I mean, wow, so many stories should come from just that. What haven't I seen this utilized by fandom more often? Orochimaru had access to Naruto as a baby, for one.
[One chat member points out that Orochimaru placed his seal on Naruto during the chuunin exam] When did he have time to do that? [another chat member points out that Orochimaru hit Naruto in the stomach to get him out of the way] Is that all it takes to apply a seal? Dammit, that's lame.
Anyway, is it just me, or does it seem pretty clear that Jiraiya was basically MIA in part 1? It doesn't seem as though Sarutobi knew where he was, given that jounin were supposed to report seeing him to command...
Meanwhile, an unstable jinchuuriki is just killing people all over the place - and our one sacrificial jounin is tasked with watching him. Dammit, I forgot how annoying this arc is. There is no chain of command in Konoha. No one seems to know what anyone is doing, ever.
[Chat member asks how Konoha has not fallen apart with no chain of command] I honestly assume ROOT has an actual purpose aside from fluffing Danzo's ego, and that is acting like an actual military. But seriously, nothing about how Konoha is portrayed makes a lick of sense. There should have been teams set to just watching the sand nin, especially Gaara. Jiraiya should have immediately reported for duty to Sarutobi.
Also, it's sort of horrifying how bad a teacher Jiraiya is. I mean, Kakashi is a bad teacher, but at least he never claimed to be good at it. [chat member asks if I'm at the point where Jiraiya throws Naruto off a cliff] Right now he's just trying to help a 12-year-old boy with shit control over his own chakra learn to use demonic chakra instead. In a lot of ways, Jiraiya is actually worse as a teacher, because it's clear that he's able to accurately assess Naruto's weaknesses as a shinobi. He's just uninterested in helping him get better at using his own chakra and not the fox's. I guess I'll have to re-read the early part 2 section, but aside from summoning and the Rasengan, what the hell did Jiraiya ever actually teach Naruto?
Anyway, in the next scene, we get an up-close and personal look at how incompetent Sarutobi was. All these jounin look pretty worried, and for good reason! One of their number is dead, and the Hokage is saying they're going to wait and see. This is a massive disaster in leadership.
Anyway, cut back to the hospital, where Sakura and Ino only show up to play spectator to Lee. It's infuriating. Why even bother having female characters, Kishimoto? I would have found it less insulting if he'd just decided to portray a totally gender-segregated society.
Anyway, I do appreciate that relationship we see between Sarutobi and Anko. I think it's clear that whatever his failures as a leader in the present, he was quite charismatic previously. But god, new leadership is absolutely necessary from a military POV.
...and Jiraiya threw Naruto off a cliff. I think it's safe to say that Tsunade was clearly the best teacher out of the lot of them.
Baki travels back and forth between Sand and Leaf with no chaperone. Because that makes total sense.
And Temari makes the same argument against war and for peace now that kid!Tobirama did 600 chapters later. It's a shame she didn't become Kazekage, but her vagina disqualifies her. [Chat members begin discussing the viability of a Kazekage Temari AU] If Sand's Kages all come from the same family, why the hell would you choose the nutty, psychopathic 12-year-old over his far more stable siblings? I understand it's not a democracy, but there's still an element of choice here. [the chat then considered Kazekage Kankurou] Kankurou's too sensible. Only nutcases become Kage - if half the men in your family had died on the job, you might pass too.
[chat member asks why Jiraiya is so keen on using the fox's chakra when everyone else is adamantly against it] He's an irresponsible weirdo in-universe. Given what we know in part 1, it was staggeringly incompetent: the only other example we see of demonic power is a boy who has killed about a half-dozen people on-screen. The real reason, of course, is that Kishimoto didn't want to do the hard work of developing Naruto's abilities organically, so the unearned superpower it is.
[Same chat member asks how I feel about Sasuke so far] He's not dumb. He actually has a survival instinct of a sort. And call me crazy, but there are a lot of Sasuke = Tsunade parallels there. He's lost literally everything, and there is a deep skepticism of Leaf propaganda that Naruto and Sakura haven't developed yet, and maybe never will. Like Tsunade, he is the scion of a founding clan - the very definition of the insider. That that hasn't saved either of them from tragedy and loss.
Anyway, reading the Neji/Naruto fight was actually the worst because I don't like Neji at all, but Naruto doesn't really deserve to win. Why couldn't Sakura beat Ino in the prelims and then go on to fight Neji? Anyway, I can skim a lot because Kishimoto's fight art isn't very dynamic.
O hai, Kabuto is still at large, still killing ANBU mooks. I definitely have to write the story where Team 7 gets involved with Kakashi's investigation of the mysterious traitor instead of participating in the chuunin exam.
anyway, Naruto shows he has a bit of a brain during Neji's fight. It's a shame this only happens every so often when dictated by the plot, instead of growing organically as part of his character.
What is the point of the Hyuuga? I mean, they have that nifty seal, you'd think the village council would really pressure the main house to ensure the branch members were able to use the entirety of the gentle fist skillset. If I were Danzo, I'd be maneuvering in that direction: hundreds of sealed Hyuuga with the full power of the gentle fist would really augment Leaf's manpower. I can understand the main house keeping the branch house down with superior knowledge of the gentle fist; I can see the main house using the seal to quash rebellion in the branch house; I can't see both, not in a world where the Hyuuga are part of Leaf and have a manpower requisition of some kind they need to fill. Leaf needs soldiers, and deliberately handicapping the ones who serve the village...yeah, if I were Danzo, I would force the issue.
OK, more of Kabuto just wandering around the stands, randomly healing Hinata.
Anyway, time for Neji's monologue. Mostly what I got from this is that Neji actually has no idea what really happened. Apparently, Cloud's Kage came directly to Leaf for the peace treaty, and Hiashi is strong enough to kill a Kage-level opponent. This doesn't even count the fact that the Kage of Cloud is actually in the stands right as Neji is telling Naruto his tragic story. Given that Neji was about 4 when his father dies, that makes sense - he probably cobbled his story together from household gossip.
Anyway, what I got from this is that Gai should have ensured that Neji got the crap beat out of him at least once by a social inferior. This is not the sort of lesson you want occurring during an international event open to the public, and honestly, Neji's overconfidence could have gotten him killed very easily - and not just by his opponents. Talking about Konoha's internal politics in front of outsiders is the sort of thing that involves the secret police...
Anyway, Naruto uses dangerous demonic power to beat up a 14-year-old boy. Jiraiya did not clear his training plan with Sarutobi ahead of time, looking at the unhappy surprise on Sarutobi's face. Also confirmed: the Byakugan can see demonic chakra that is invisible to the regular human eye. Would have been nice to have multiple Hyuuga guards on Gaara, right?
Ugh this Hyuuga bullshit is infuriating. I'm tabling it for another day until I can finish editing my Hyuuga rant post.
Moving on, Raidou's little "shinobi must be punctual" speech makes me think the blatant favoritism we see in canon wasn't appreciated by the Joe Schmoes around Sasuke. Kakashi can do that crap because he's basically been active a million years and is good for it in the clutch, and his co-workers still hate it! Sasuke doesn't have that leeway.
Ah, Shikamaru: one of Naruto's many out-and-out chauvinists.
Anyway, it's pretty annoying that the matches have been set for a month, but not one of these dumb children bothered to do research on their opponents.
Kishimoto again devolves to show, not tell: Shikamaru is apparently the reason the rather weak Team 10 survived the Forest of Death, although how he did so is never explained. It would have been nice to see it, you know?
Oh, that's right. Shikamaru is a genius, who apparently never does shit unless dictated by the plot. So in real life, he'd be like one of those weird child prodigies who end up hermits in Montana, but this is Naruto, that ain't going to happen here.
The group chat had pretty divergent opinions on the tunnel Shikamaru was using to spread his shadow. For the record, I thought it was a pretty amazing asspull, but that's been my feeling the entire time I've been suffering through this arc, so go figure. I'm still sort of salty about how Shikamaru went from "maladjusted fuckup" to "GENIUS" in the space of one freaking battle. Every time Kishimoto talks about the "ideal chuunin psycho profile", I get an eye tic. In what universe is Shikamaru commander material at this point in canon?
OK, time for Kakashi's dramatic entrance, which is very dramatic.
@hiruma-musouka proposed a while back that Kakashi is a fundamentally avoidant personality, and I can't stop thinking about canon in light of that. So an alternate reading of Kakashi's tardiness for Sasuke's match - Kakashi was actually hoping Sasuke's match would be forfeited due to tardiness, and Sarutobi's weak will foiled his cunning plan!
Gaara casually kills two mooks in plain sight. Where is Leaf's internal security? The only thing I can reconcile is that the Uchiha did all internal security, and given their deaths and the fact that Leaf still seems to be a largely pre-literate society, no group managed to fill the vacuum afterward.
How has Sasuke gotten so much better in a month of training? I don't care if your fancy eyes allow you to mimic moves and see very fast movement, you still need to build up the muscle to actually go fast yourself!
A moment of silence for the people of Sand, who are so familiar with the Ichibi they can tell right away when Gaara lets it possess him totally.
Those panels where Sarutobi and the "Kazekage" are looking at each other are actually pretty good. Ramps up the tension.
The invasion starts, and there is absolutely no coordinated response from the Leaf-nin.
Anyway, Shikamaru pretending to sleep through the invasion of his village is a massive black mark on his record. Like, God save the Nara clan level of black mark. He's technically an adult, he's the heir, he ought to be representing his clan...him trying to sleep through an invasion is a mark of cowardice, and would have terrible repercussions on his family. This is, in fact, the sort of thing that starts complicated succession disputes.
...and we end on Sarutobi, ready to fight all the time.
Anyway, reading this part of the manga sort of solidified why Naruto is a bad character for me, from a writer/author POV. Naruto spends so much time talking about how he understands the villain's pain. The problem is, Naruto's tragic life history never really shows up as a tangible issue in the plot! He's a lonely kid, but good lord, everyone in Leaf is lonely. People are jerks to him in a general way because he's an orphan and poor and stupid, which sucks but happens a lot in real life too. And even though people are jerks to him, we never really see them be cruel to him because he's got a demon in him. Iruka treats him like a wayward student; Sakura is basically his friend in a few months; Kakashi is a sadsack teacher, but he's not singling Naruto out with his awful teaching, and he does trie to find someone competent to instruct him; Sasuke isn't nice to him, but he's no crueler than the rest of Naruto's classmates. Basically, when Naruto talks about how he feels the villain's pain, I'm very meh. Contrast this to the chick version of Naruto, where lots of little girls beat the shit out of each other in the name of friendship: Nanoha. Fate Testarossa is a deeply tragic figure, and you are really, really, rooting for her to move to a better place by the end of that show. Or geez, just the first two episodes of Michiko and Hatchin, which features some truly awful child abuse.
Anyway, I'll post my long-awaited (?) Hyuuga rant later this week, and then I guess it's back to the old grindstone to try and knock out a reread of Naruto volume 14-16 before the new year begins!

Madara Is Not a Damsel, Got It?
(apparently I don’t want to write my nano today, but still want to write something.  So, have some more Madara In Sailor Moon Land) (fair warning, a character acts....really creepy in this bit.  Not really more than any in Sailor Moon canon, but I figured I should warn you anyway.)
Madara meets the Enemy on a Tuesday.  He honestly wasn’t trying to, he was just heading home.  But apparently it had been Noticed that he was at most of the scenes of Monster Attacks by someone other that Sailor Moon.  Honestly, he was a bit insulted that it had taken this long - Tobirama had caught on to that lovely mix of purpose and coincidence almost immediately.  But then, that was Tobirama.
To be fair, he didn’t exactly meet the Enemy.  Rather he was knocked unconscious because he had relaxed like an idiot and then he woke up in a room made of white marble with a tree and moon motif going strong throughout.  He glanced around the place, trying to figure out where he was, and how to escape.
“You are awake.  That is good,” a raspy voice said from his side.
Madara’s eyes darted to where the sound had come from and he gave a start, leaning away.
“The actual fuck?” he gaped.
“Hm?” the figure slightly tilted it’s head.
“What are you?” Madara demanded before his voice dropped, “You look like an aloe vera plant...”
“Don’t call us that,” the thing snapped, “We are Zetsu.”
“Zetsu.” Madara looked it- he? over with raised eyebrows.  “Alright, sure, whatever.  Why am I here?  Where is here anyway?”
“You are here because I demand it,” a female voice intoned.
Madara spun to face this new person and found his gaze locked onto a single sideways Sharigan.
Trust Me, Love Me, Do as I command, I am Your Goddess, echoed in his mind.  And.... of course it did.  Why wouldn’t it have?  She was his Moon Goddess.  His Rabbit Queen.  She was....
His eyes glazed over.  Kaguya smirked and turned to face Zetsu.
“Send a new Monster to gather Chi from these pathetic humans.  Let us see if those worthless Sailor Scouts even notice this one is gone.”
Zetsu inclined his head and teleported away.  Kaguya turned back to Madara.
“As for you my Prince of Darkness, let us find you more suitable clothing,” she commanded as she stroked his cheek with the back of her knuckles.
Madara nodded, but then paused.
“What is it, my Prince?” she asked, her eyes narrowing.
“Who....who are the Sailor Scouts?” he asked tonelessly.
“Ah, them,” she sneered, “My grandson and his two sworn brothers, all working with my traitor sons to keep me from my rightful place as the Supreme Goddess of the Moon, Ruler of the Galaxy.  They are trying to trick these stupid humans into continuing a life of strife instead of surrendering their power, their Chi to me so as I can take my rightful place!  And they would have convinced you, my powerful Prince,” she cooed, “to fight against me as well if I had left you there.”
“I understand.  Thank you Goddess of the Moon,” he replied.
She nodded and led the way out of the room.
He was standing next to Kaguya, dressed now in black and red armor - oddly reminiscent of the armor he owned in his last life - when Zetsu rushed back.
“My Lady,” the plant-man gasped, “the Scouts were already aware of your actions.  We believe that they are trying to find this place now.”
“What?” Kaguya demanded, “How?”
“We do not know.  Perhaps not all is as it seems with your newest...acquisition?”
Burning eyes turned to Madara.
“Did they send you?” she demanded, “Is this some trick?”
“I do not understand,” Madara responded, his face blank, “You rescued me from where the False Scouts were working their magics on me.  How could such a thing be a trick?”
Kaguya calmed.
“Yes, of course.  Zetsu must have been spotted then.”
The plant-man stiffened at the insult, but said nothing.
“Regardless, we will be waiting for them.”
Kaguya cracked in anticipation.
“Release Madara, Kaguya!” Sailor Moon demanded as the three Scouts along with Tuxedo Fox teleported into the palace.
“He can leave anytime he likes,” the Moon Rabbit smirked, “But I rather think he likes it here.  Don’t you my Prince?”
She tilted her head back to watch him step out from behind her throne.
The Scouts gasped in shock.  Madara looked at them, his face blank.
“You, you’ve done something to him,” Sailor Sun said weakly, his voice wavering with his lack of conviction in his words.
“It matters not what you thing fireling,” Kaguya sneered, “As you will not be getting close to him.  Zetsu!”
The plant-man grew from the floor between the two groups.
“Star Chain!” Sailor Star called out, snapping the chain of light out and around Zetsu’s arm.
Zetsu sneered and began to pull the dark haired boy forward.
Sailor Stars smirked and added to the initial attack, “Star’s Beauty Shock!”
Zetsu’s eyes widened as electricity ran through his body, causing him to jerk in place as it ran it’s course.
Kaguya snarled, hands curling in rage as she began to push herself up.
Madara stepped forward, pausing to glance at her.
Kaguya smirked, an idea forming in her head.
“Go my Prince of Darkness.  Remove these pests from my sight,” she waved a hand at them.
“As you wish,” he intoned.
He stepped forward, eyes locked on Sailor Moon as his hand drifted to his side.
When he had awakened in this strange world, he had felt too weak to summon chakra, and then he was afraid that if he tried, it would not come.  And yet, Madara could not stand the thought of being vulnerable.  So he had gone out and bought a lighter.  He had bought a few actually, and had scattered them among his belongings.  No one knew about them, not his brothers, not Mito, certainly not Hashirama, and definitely not Tobirama.
So neither Zetsu nor Kaguya had relieved him of his lighter when they had brought him here.
Madara’s eyes darted away from Sailor Moon as he came even with Zetsu.
In a sudden move, Madara twisted.  One arm yanked open Zetsu’s leaf-y head guard as the other simultaneously broke open the lighter he still had, dumping the fuel onto Zetsu’s neck and shoulders, and igniting the spark of the lighter.
As the lighter fell from his hands, the flame catching, he jumped backwards towards the Scouts.  Zetsu screamed as Kaguya yelled in alarm.
“Go!” he yelled as he crashed into Sailor Moon.
Red eyes wide, they teleported away.
Sailor Moon kneeled in front of him, an open first aid box next to him.  Madara kept glancing around.
“I honestly can’t believe that your secret base is a karaoke bar,” he muttered.
Sailor Moon snarled at him in response.
Madara’s eyes snapped back to the white-haired menace even as he reared back.
“What was that for?” he demanded.
“What kind of idiot do you have to be to light something on fire when you will be burned too?!” Sailor Moon snapped, yanking the knot on the bandage tight.
“Ow!  You could be a bit more gentle!  And at least I’m not the one running around in a miniskirt to fight monsters!” Madara retorted.
“It’s magical armor!  It at least protects me!  You had nothing to protect you!  What if that hadn’t worked?”
“At least I was using my brain!  What do you do?  Jump around to distract the monsters with how indecent you look?”
“Alright you two, stop flirting,” Tuxedo Fox interrupted, amused.
“We are not,” Sailor Moon protested.
The discussion was interrupted as the air behind Madara crackled.
The three all fell silent, shock and worry on their faces.
“Tuxedo Fox!” Sailor Moon snapped, “Get the others!  Hurry!”
Sounds of electricity began to fill the air as Tuxedo Fox bolted from the room.
“Madara, I need you to move away from that area,” Sailor Moon said, his voice purposefully calm.
Madara began to push himself to his feet when the air burst open, a gust of wind knocking Sailor Moon back.  Simultaneously the rip in space began to suck Madara in.
“What the hell?!” he yelled, scrambling for something to grab onto.
It was too late, he was sucked into the portal.
“No!” Sailor Moon screamed, and threw himself forward after Madara.  Behind him, Madara could see the door open as Tuxedo Fox, Sailor Stars, and Sailor Sun rushed in.  They were too late though, and the portal closed behind Sailor Moon.
