#feathered indians by tyler childers
Text
marijuana, lsd, psilocybin, dmt, they all changed the way i see, but love's the only thing that ever saved my life // she asked, "ain't anybody told you that them things are bad for you?" i said, "many folks have warned me, there've been several people tried, but up 'til now there ain't been nothin' that i couldn't leave behind" // but i sobered up, and i swore off that stuff forever this time. and the old lovers sing, "i thought it'd be me that helped him get home." but home was a dream, one that i'd never seen 'til you came along

I can hear the weekly backyard concerts from a local bar pretty clearly where I live and tonight's artist is singing happy birthday and just pulled off a clean vocal riff while singing it and I think this is the only time I've enjoyed being able to hear the bar from here.

i feel like you have such great characterization of both billy & coryo, so I'd love to know ur thoughts on what kind of music each of them would listen to? probably in a more modern/current music sense cuz idk what kind of music they listened to in the 1870s or in future panem LOL 💌
ps praying either of them would like the smiths
oh coriolanus snow’s literal theme song is “please please please let me get what i want” are u kiddin me he would love that song so much and relate to it so deeply, especially pre-games coryo. i truly think like. early-mid 2000s poppunk would really do it for him too, like any sort of that type of emo music tbh. for the rest of his playlist for modern!coryo in my head:
tiffany blews by fall out boy
the river by good charlotte
i dont wanna be in love by good charlotte (lol)
the kill by 30 seconds to mars
lying is the most fun a girl can have without taking her clothes off by panic! at the disco
knives and pens by black veil brides
lips like morphine by kill hannah
help me by alkaline trio
exit music (for a film) by radiohead
venus in furs by the velvet underground
for billy i actually think going the country route is a little too on the nose, i think if he was into that it would be more modern but throwback-y stuff like tyler childers and orville peck. but at the same time i think he’s also the type to enjoy anything with a lot of Feeling to it if that makes sense?? some of modern!billy’s playlist in my head:
tattoos by tyler childers
sleep on the floor by the lumineers
wedding song by anais mitchell and justin vernon (specifically this original version and not the hadestown cast version)
hexie mountains by orville peck
talk and work song by hozier (❤️)
moving parts by trixie mattel
she’s got you by patsy cline
the devil wears a suit and tie by colter wall
roses are falling by orville peck
feathered indians by tyler childers

————————————— ♡ —————————————
Rhett was quiet on the drive back from the competition. He rode his 8 seconds but scored lower than what you thought he deserved. You could tell by his silence he was disappointed. You knew it from the moment you saw him look up at the scoreboard. He still placed second which meant he was still moving on in the circuit, but you knew him. You knew he was beating himself up.
You had gone to him after his ride, completely ignoring the ‘RIDERS ONLY’ sign. No one tried to stop you, knowing you were hell bent and determined to see him. As you rounded the corner of the trailers, you saw him standing there smacking his gloves against his leg. You threw your arms around his neck the moment he turned around and buried your face into his neck.
“I’m so proud of you,” you whispered against his skin, tightening your hold on him. It took his brain a few seconds to catch up with what was happening before he let out a sigh and placed his arms around your waist. He pulled you closer to him and kissed your temple softly.
“It was a shit ride.” He mumbled out gruffly. You looked up at him, a small disapproving noise escaping you. He sighed again and pulled you back to his chest and let out a “Thank you, baby.” His voice was deep and raspy, you could feel the vibrations through your chest. You pulled away from him again just an inch to tip his Stetson up and press your lips against his. It lasted just a second, and when you stepped back, you plucked the hat off his head placing it on top of your own. You saw his eyes darken and a small smirk spread across his face.
“Let’s get you home, cowboy.” You took his hand and led him to his truck, ignoring the whistles and cheers his team let out.
Now here you are, on your way home. Silence filled the cab, Rhett’s thumb brushing against the back of your hand every so often where they lay connected on the bench seat. His hat was still on your head, and you smiled to yourself. The sky was clear, the stars sparkling brightly at you as you looked out the window. Rhett dropped your hand just for it to find its place on your upper thigh, his thumb continuing its motion of softly brushing your skin. A soft whimper escaped from your lips, breaking the quiet.
His hand squeezed your thigh roughly before inching higher.
“You have any idea what it does to me to see my hat on you?” His voice echoing through the truck. “Lookin’ like sin wearing my shirt and my hat. You like letting everyone know you’re mine, hm?” He’s still looking forward out the windshield, but his hand inches up further, his pinky running against the seam of your shorts. You knew what this was about. He was so wound tight from the ride, he was needing any type of release, something to help him forget.
“Pull over, Rhett.” You sounded winded, like you had just finished running a marathon. He pulls off on the side of the road, putting the truck in park and turning the headlights off. He’s sliding you across the bench seat and into his lap before you could even blink.
You knew from the hold he had on your hips there were going to be small bruises shaped like his fingertips. Bruises that never really fade. He bucked his hips up into you, causing you both to moan.
“Easy there, cowboy.” You say, placing a hand on his chest, the other moving down to his belt buckle. You gently run your index finger across the design, so close to touching Rhett where he needs you most.
“Come on, girl. Need you. Please, baby.” He bucked his hips up into you again and you dropped forward onto his chest. The position was uncomfortable but not unbearable. You pushed your hips back down onto him, searching for any kind of friction. You felt like a teenager again, having quickies in the same truck you were sitting in now, minutes before your curfew was over.
You were both older now, but the flash of memories made you smile. Some things never change.
“Think you can last more than eight seconds, honey?” Rhett said, a certain cockiness in his tone. “You’re wearing the hat, let’s see if you can ride.”
You made quick work of your shorts with help from Rhett and your hands reached down to undo his belt. He ran his fingers through your folds and groaned into your neck once he felt how wet you were.
“Rhett, please. Need you now.” You whined out.
He lined himself up and you both held your breath as you sank down onto him. The cool metal of his belt buckle pressed against the inside of your thigh as you moved against him.
He moved one hand from your hip to brush against your clit, causing your hips to buck against him.
“Come for me, girl. Want to feel you come for me.” His hips stuttered in rhythm and you knew he was right behind you. Your orgasm hit you hard, Rhett filling you up seconds later.
You both stayed silent, the only noises were the sounds of you trying to catch your breath. He was caressing your back softly as he held you close. You knew you had to move off of him at some point, but you were perfectly content being this close to him for now.
Rhett pulled away from you, his gaze dropping down to where you were still seated on him and he let out a small chuckle.
“What on earth could you find funny right now?” You ask, a smile spreading across your face.
“Nothin’. Just..” He didn’t finish his train of thought, he just started rubbing his thumb along your inner thigh.
You looked down and let out a small laugh of your own. Right there on the inside of your thigh, was a clear impression of his belt buckle.
“Now that’s a sight I’ll never forget.” He said.
You eventually moved off of him, wincing slightly at the feeling. You rolled your eyes when you saw Rhett tuck your underwear into his pocket. You muttered under your breath something about him being a dog and he just smiled a dopey smile.
You didn’t move back to the passenger seat, instead you stayed in the middle pressed against his side as he pulled back onto the road. You fell back into comfortable silence on the rest of the drive.
“I love you, Rhett. Always be my number one.” You said as he pulled into the driveway. He put the truck in park and turned towards you.
“I love you too, my beautiful girl.” He pressed a kiss to your forehead and then your cheek, and finally your lips. “I might not have gotten first tonight, but I think I got the best prize sittin’ right here.”

"if i'd known she was religious, then i wouldn't have come stoned to the house of such an angel, too fucked up to get back home."
- feathered indians, tyler childers. ・❥・

chapter 1 of multiple
synopsis ˏˋ°•*⁀➷
Lorelei Bernadette Dalton (affectionately known as "Bea" by friends and "Bernie" by family) has known ranching her entire life. Between breaking her first colt at the age of fifteen, and wrangling calves for tagging ever since she was ten, she's well-seasoned.
With knowing ranching, she's known ranch hands, too. She's seen a handful come in and out of Lone Wolf Ranch throughout her twenty-five years of her life, but she's never seen one quite like James. A handsome, yet mysterious, blonde cowboy from everywhere and nowhere that has ventured to Cuchara, Colorado in search of work, he seems to be everything she'd be looking for as the hopeless romantic she is.
Or is he?

ok but-
Softball!Wilma listens to feathered Indians and all your’n by Tyler Childers for sure right?
took a lil listen for research purposes
and i have to agree
yes she does
her dad definitely played these for her after listening to them on the radio, thinking “hey my girl would like these” and now they’re his and her’s songs
also, she’s one of those “daddy’s girl” people
she went to daddy-daughter / pal and gal dances growing up, especially the country themed ones. he took her fishing, golfing, hunting. cries during school dances, cries when she graduates, at her wedding.
