trans culture is watching fanfic on netflix and getting so excited because!!! that's you!!! it's not even just about a trans character/has a vague side character,, it's literally you, a gay trans dude who has never seen any other published content about your identity and it even has a happy ending??? what dimension have you hopped to?? and then you go on the internet and find a) it has hardly any media attention at all, which seems fine and whatever except then b) all of the attention it does have is from people on other parts of the trans spectrum talking about how shit it is because it doesn't accurately represent exactly how they felt??? anyways maybe i'm disproportionately sad about it because it's late and i'm tired but. not gonna lie the wind was really taken out of my sails for this one.

i just finished watching the polish fanfik movie on netflix.

i haven't been able to stop crying on and off since the gender euphoria scene,

and continously crying since the scene where his dad tells him there's nothing wrong with him.

and i realized, my parents will never say that.

the story is told through that idealized lens, but it fits the characters so well. they feel like people and not shallow labels like the popular girl and the jock and the outcast.

ok so fanfik movie pissed me off, which caused me to re-read the original book and

thank god I did

the relationship between Tosiek/Daniel and Leon, when given time to develop was SO GOOD

So many plot points from the book were dropped and it drove me INSANE. The drama club Witold beef plotline? the bullying plotline? the suicide plotline?? dropping aunt Idalia as a character altogether??????

in the book Tosiek is arguably a bigger shithead but he also goes through more shit, he also tries very hard to be USEFUL and help people which, imo, was missing from the movie. Also they completely assassinated Leon. I'm sorry but book Leon supremacy forever.

please, if you haven't, read the book. Please. I'm begging.

Reading reviews for the new Netflix film Fanfik has made me realise something that really pisses me off. So. The movie is about a trans person. More specifically, a person coming to grips with their gender identity.

So why do all the reviews get their pronouns wrong/refer to them as a girl? The whole point of the movie is that they’re not one! I see that whenever people review books about trans people. It really annoys me.
