Haha lol Ice Emperor goes Brrrr part 8

[Two more to go!] A call to Boreal, and he was sweeping through the halls again, Lloyd safely tucked into the folds of his collar. The Emperor’s original thought was to simply swallow him back down, but the boy had squeaked, and whined, and argued until Julien simply dropped the topic in favor of recalling his guards from their Lloyd-search just to send them off on a multicolor-gi-search.

The Emperor’s little… tantrum had made a mess of his halls. In his wake, the ice had grown in ever-spiraling walls, sealing off every entrance less than that of the foyer of the main entry hall. A wave of his hand was more than enough to dismiss them, but some of his soldiers were caught in the crystals. A few had become immobile, and they scurried away from him like ants when freed.

Ants?

How long had it been since he’d seen an ant? They didn’t live well in the cold. Was it ever not cold?

Had he ever seen an ant?

All thoughts that promptly vaporized as he handed Lloyd off to a servant with a few choice warnings, his ice armor forming larger, sharper plating as he stalked the hallways. Lloyd may be alright in the insulated interior of the palace, but as The Emperor stepped out onto the frozen, packed snow with the blizzard howling into his faceplate, he decided quite immediately that if the boy were to go out in this weather, he’d freeze to death immediately.

Whether or not that was true, The Emperor decided he never wanted to know.

Boreal landed at the stables of the palace with a rumbling growl. Like a storm, it rattled The Emperor’s chestplate, even as the dragon dipped his head to huff shards of ice atop his head. An affectionate sort of sound seeped out of his familiar’s throat. Like the sound of harsh rain.

A hand landed atop Boreal’s head, metal but soft as it smoothed the raised frost along his crown. “Find them,” The Emperor murmured. “Find our soldiers and bring them a message.” The engraved black ice was thick in his hand as he offered it to Boreal. “Tell them to find the ninja in colorful gis and bring them home.”

Home.

A word Lloyd used sometimes. With an aching fondness in his voice, and a softness about his eyes. It rolled off Julien’s tongue like the lightest thing he’d ever said. Like a single snowflake dancing over mountaintops. Like running through snowy forests with minute lines of black lacing each tree he passed. Like the knowledge that there was someone waiting for him when his eyes caught on the blue-white shape of a bird through the branch-woven canopy.

Boreal thrummed at him, his wings spreading in a wide arch as he reared back.

“Go.”

And in a flash of powdered white, he did, icy wings ripping through the air with a sound like thunder. Like cracking glaciers. Like…

“Shard.” The word was blood on his tongue, even as he retreated back inside the palace. It was familiar, echoing burning wood. Laughing as sharp wind whipped at his face. “Shard.” He’d heard it before. A long time ago. Sitting with his back against others’ as the moon rose high over the horizon. There, his breath had clouded warm in the night air. His voice came easy.

Frost laced his mouth guard, as he walked, and he was so consumed with the single word that he almost didn’t catch the call from his advisor.

“M’lord?”

The concept of whatever had been on his mind vanished like mist. “Vex.” Surprise colored his voice and the cant of his head. Something felt important, but the smile his advisor offered him—cheeky for all of the toothiness of it—made his mind go hollow for all save for the cry of a bird he recognized.

“Is everything alright, my lord? I saw the state of the halls.” A hand on his arm, tracing the blued lines of his armor. “I thought you were over your little… moods.”

The Emperor thought he hadn’t seen a falcon in a long time. “Vex,” the name was a whisper. Delicate as a frosted bubble. “Did I have a bird… before Boreal? Before the formlings took my memory?” Grief. The bile that rose in his throat, and the frost that coated his hands spoke of grief. What was there to grieve?

“Yes, sir.” A pause in Vex’s examination of his armor. “An ice owl, I believe. He was a grand creature.”

It was off.

Just slightly. By just enough that Julien’s mind stuttered on the information, replaying the call for him to hear as if it were permanently embedded in his brain. “An ice owl?”

Vex couldn’t have been remembering right. It was a falcon, was it not? Blue across its back in the richest of shades. No ice owl had that cry.

“Yes, sir. The largest of the clutch. He used to carry men off their mounts.”

Pressure on his arm. Just a little. Of small, hooked claws that knew just how much they could press before it had to let off. The tiniest little bird of prey he thought he’d ever seen. Metallic in the way its feathers shone.

Ice owls were too big, weren’t they?

His brows furrowed, and for a reason he could not place, the thought that came to mind was that no good falconer would take the largest hatchling.

Hi, let me first tell you that you are like a breath of fresh air in jikookland, in these last months the jikook spaces are having levels of disappointment at the level of the other ship, only without the hatred of a third person, but you have not let yourself go, you say things as you see them and at times you seem like a spectator. I do love theories and delulu thoughts. Sometimes I get carried away. Sometimes I do hate on stuff, just letting you know.

The concept photos were also a wake up for me. I realized that I didn't agree with some stuff anymore. I took a small break and when I came back, I felt like I was seeing things differently.

And I tend to do that every now and then to cleanse my brain. Ill leave the fandom completely. Zero jikook. And it allows me to come back with 0 preconceived notions.

I guess that's where I'm at right now.

Ah, I meant with taekook fan service and jikook. I feel like at this point in their relationship and their career, that is sooo stupid. But that's just me projecting. Because for all we know, jikook is fine with it.

But of course, as a fan of Jimin, this stuff gets me upset.

AUGHH ranking all the characters in a top 10 is gonna b so hard,,,,, I can rank all the Gordons tho I think!! (I’m not ranking them from “best” to “worst” rlly, more like,, how attached I am to th character, how much I know abt them,, stuff liekthat) huge apologies if I misremember sruff or use the wrong names or pronouns or anything like rhat, everything is kinda foggy for me rn 😭💔

Hjonesslty,,, prob Malcom & Player,,,,being from something I had never read I was worried I’d like,, not “get” the character,,, but I found them both super interesting!! The overall concept of the AU was so silly but also rlly compelling,,,and the ultimate outcome of their arcs iguess was cool2 me :] Kittle’s redemption and Player’s complete shift in Ep2 were both great :]

Freeman,,,! I initially figured his character wouldn’t change very much and would mostly just serve as liek,,, a foil to all the absurd characters rhat surrounded him, but I was pleasantly surprised and Very excited to see that he had a lot more to him!!!! :D and was rlly prominent in the story !!!!! Esp him in Ep2!!!!!!!!!!! iwanna write more sobad but I keep getting distracted sndliie I may need to skim thru everything again as a refresher,, ihave So many thoughts ,,,,cant form them 💔

Swap is all that’s left!!! It wss so hard for me to put them at 5 becos I rlly like them but I had nochoic e ,,, swap AUs r always so iconic burlike,,, unlike most others from other fandoms, this roleswap AU introduced lots of unique elements to the stories and characters that it became way more than just “what if this character had the opposite outfit and personality!” Which I REALLY appreciate and enjoyed a lot in the story,, esp when it came to Swap themself!!!! Like!!! Aaagh!!! Them being an alien from Xen!!!! Is so cool{!!! I’ll def have to read the original fic eventually becos it seems rlly good,,, anyways!! I loved their relationship w/ Neo (and Neo in general!! All the “normal human/player” characters were so silly ilovethrm) aaaaaa

hi! Im doing my yearly relisten to balance and came across your fics, and I have to say, you write SO WELL and it makes me so happy that there are still people writing for balance. I’ve saved several of your fics at this point (PDFs, still need to get an ao3 account ha), and I really like the way you do little vignettes across different parts of canon to compare/contrast how the main characters of each fic react to the central theme before/during/after the voidfish stuff. And as someone who struggles with memory stuff, “it’s come for all that you old dear” made me feel /seen/, and also is my personal headcanon now explaining why Barry tells himself this. And your latest TAZ fic MMMMMMMMM I love it so much. Thanks for writing, I might not get to commenting on everything (energy) but know that I’ve been coming back to read from your ao3 taz sruff for like three weeks now and am drafting comments in my head every time because I love it so much

aaah thank you SO much, it means a ton! I'm also super glad people are still out there reading TAZ fics — and thank you for mentioning that one in particular, it's definitely one of my favorites out of my TAZ stuff that I consider on the older side/from when I was still new to the fandom. I definitely have a weakness for little canon-compliant and/or canon-parallel character study things, even though the thing I'm working on right now is... well, if anything, it's actually just a comically big canon-parallel character exploration thing lol. the point is that hearing all this made my day! messages like this really keep me going <3 (heart emoticon)

have you seen the new ninjago series?? its so... odd to say the least. i'd just love to hear your thoughts on it? (also hello i asked about tang haha)

AA hello again!!! Okay so at first I honestly wasn’t sure if the series would be good and tbh I was. A bit critical lmao, but after watching it I actually ended up liking it quite a bit?? Like yeah it’s definitely different and I can tell we’re dealing with new writers who are still figuring out how to write the world so there’s clearly a few little issues here and there but overall??? I actually love it. They’ve done a great job with the characters in my opinion, both new and old, and I’m genuinely very happy with the way they’ve been writing Kai especially. I feel kinda like his character had been suffering a little in the late seasons of ninjago sadly but now it feels like they’ve unshelved him and are utilizing a lot of the potential he’s had for a while. And watching Lloyd be a stressed out single parent of two is hysterical and feels genuinely in character. 

I have a lot of questions about a few things of course, but those are about stuff that I feel like they’ve set up to answer in coming seasons so I don’t mind. Yeah okay I do think they did Cloud Kingdom a little dirty but you know what? It could have been so so much worse. Overall as like, the third soft reboot ninjago has had, I’m just impressed it’s enjoyable at all

Hey! I already asked this from someone else but I like to know your opinion as well :) Hey! I just read on twitter someone stating only now that Levi knows Zeke's dead he's trying to focus on fighting with the kids and protecting them. If Zeke was there he would only go for him. And even now that he's trying to act as bait he doesn't care if he survives or not because Zeke's dead either. I disagree with these statements but I want to know what you think?

The thing is, Levi doesn't know Zeke is dead, they assume he's using the same technique as the Warhammer:

And then ARMIN (not Levi) comes up with a plan to find the real Zeke and Eren -> this means they believe he's still alive.

(Btw I think Zeke died, but we're fan making theories about stuff, none of the characters is able to know for sure, we need to separate what happens in the story from what happens in the fandom, we need to remember that what we know is different from what the characters know. I mean even we can't be sure Zeke died, it's just a theory based on the shifters)

Anyway about "Levi is helping just because Zeke died": even before Piek explains that those are the past shifters, so the moment when Levi could potentially assume Zeke died, he was already taking care of the teens, by reassuring Connie that Armin is alive and stopping Mikasa from acting rushed (not going around looking for a way to find the real Zeke), because he cares about them. He was collaborating even BEFORE he could maybe assume Zeke died.

Also you're telling me that a man that *only* cares about killing Zeke, if there's even one possibility that Zeke is still alive, would have risked his life saving Jean and Connie? And would have prioritised saving Armin?

And if he actually thinks that for sure Zeke is dead based on what Piek said (again I don't think Levi thinks he's dead, or at least he's not sure about it, but let's assume he does for the sake of this), then if he truly only cared about killing him, he would be mad that he's already dead, he would have shown it, he would have had a moment where he didn't want to fight anymore, because he just lost his only reason to live, but no! He keeps fighting and saves the kids, because he genuinely cares about them.

And about the "Levi is only acting as a bait", the only time he mentions that is before Piek says anything about the past shifters.

Instead when Levi could maybe assume Zeke died we have sruff like this:

Look at those teeth! That's not a man who doesn't care anymore, that's a man who is giving everything he has, after he coughed blood, in order to save his subordinate. That's the complete opposite of giving up that's giving everything he's got. That's determination to protect everyone.

In short: the whole premise of Levi knowing that Zeke is dead is false and it's actually shown in the chapter that they think he's still alive. Instead when Levi gets to know about the shifters (the thing that could suggest that Zeke died) he doesn't act any less determined and he tries to save everyone.

#right now there are no indication that all Levi cares about is killing Zeke #I'm not denying he wants to kill him #but saying it's the only thing he cares about is different #ask #snk 135 #snk spoilers

ah i see, okay i looked up how he looks and sruff and based off of what i am seeing he has been cursed with the "one dimensional hot/sexy boyfriend persona", this is so sad.alexa play despacito-okay uhhh first of all because this is a fusion between gaster and papyrus i picture g!pap to be more of the mad scientist persona and goes insane over the smallest inventions. Hes not really good at making fully functional inventions but he never gives up! and unlike g!sans he is a literal ball of energy and can do multiple things at once. depite this he is really straight foward but hes basically an introvert. he cant hold onto a simpme conversation to save his life because he'll sink into awkwardness/anxiety and would literally just lay down in the floor hoping the person he was talking with would leave and then later queations why he did that and sends an "im sorry for being weird im kind of socially awkward" cake. Idk i guess

my favourite fic is about a gang of robbers that live in their fancy apartment. the apartment doesnt look fancy fro the outside but it is when u go inside. its about the sister of the leader going being found almost dead and mark as a sex trafficking slave and the leader trying to find that group and killing their leader. it has everything i love. found family, a lot of stealing and a lot of planning, fancy sruff but not like that, gangs, secret passages, and the assholes dying at the end
