i had nothing to do tonight and the emunene took over my brain anyway here's positive dance time as an NES song.
it plays in NTSC mode, with an additional Konami VRC6 chip addon, i made the music using FamiStudio and laid the notes down by ear using FL Studio
Yep. Every. Single. Note.
btw fun fact: i assigned the characters to channels on the Famicom's sound chip
Emu and Nene are on the Famicom's PSG
Tsukasa is on the Famicom's Triangle
Rui and Rin are on the VRC6 PSG
Miku is on the VRC6 Sawtooth
and finally, special guest appearances from nightcord@25 on the DPCM channel!

Hi, I just wanted to say that I like your game! I played it and I can say that it looks cute and creative though. I love this art style and the plot. And I love how you showed Marple and AI Shin's relationship. I'm saying it as a usual player and as a person who (was) making games on RPG Maker too. Which RPG Maker version are you using? Did you have a problems with development? What inspired you to make this game?
Sorry for a lot of questions, I'm just too curious, te-he. 😅
Oh my goodness that is so wonderful!! I'm so glad you liked it :D!!
And no worries ^^ I used RPG Maker MZ (which is one of the newer versions I believe! Super highly recommend waiting for Steam sales cause they become much more affordable)
'It's a Sunny Day Outside,' was the first solo project I've been able to complete so most of the time was spent just figuring out how the system worked. But man, aligning those CGs was such a pain! Next time I will definitely make sure to use a canvas that fits the aspect ratio next time! And then there was the music, I spent a lot of time trying different free music software until stumbling upon FamiStudio, which has worked for now. I'm still experimenting with what I can get my hands on so I guess that's an ongoing development
I think I wrote about it in a dev log but this game was a gift for my friend Gurona who is also a RPG Maker developer. They have their own original game in progress over at @dreamingisntbad (its really awesome, go check it out). We were both participating in a Secret Santa art exchange on a private Discord server when I got their name and decided I was going to go all out!! Since there were no limits on what medium to use, you could think of my game as my detailed fan art of their fan fiction. I only gave myself about a month to complete everything, which probably wasn't the brightest idea in hindsight but I made it work and I was able to scrap together everything I could on the deadline.
It was a great learning experience and I really want to continue making games!! I have plenty of yttd and original game ideas waiting in my wip folder but I will make sure this game gets the love that it deserves (I have been converted to the mapleshin, there is no saving me now lmao)
and thank you so much for taking an interest in my little game :3 I really didn't expect to see any attention on it so I'm really glad there is plenty of support throughout the community! good luck on your RPG maker journey 🫡

i actually quite like it but it did get a bit annoying as i was tweaking it😭

between famistudio and pxtone/ptcollab which one would you recommend more for music making newbie?
I feel like famistudio is probably a bit easier to get into right away since you don't have to worry about getting any instrument packs or anything, but I'd still probably recommend pxtone since then you don't have to work around famistudio's limitations. It's also easier to get things to sound the way you want in pxtone if you have some instrument packs like pepofont, whereas in famistudio you have to do a lot of manual playing with the volume envelope to get certain sounds sometimes.
