Monthly FT Magazine Vol. 7 - Part 1
PERSONAL DATA - LAXUS DREYAR
It's finally here!! Translations for Monthly Fairy Tail Magazine Vol. 7!
I've scanned, reformatted, and translated* the first 12 pages of this volume, and I'll be posting these translations every day leading up to Katsuyuki Konishi's birthday on April 21st! The wonderful Japanese voice behind the lightning dragon slayer!
For those who don't know, Monthly Fairy Tail Magazine was published by Kodansha, in collaboration with Hiro Mashima, between July 17, 2014 - July 17, 2015. In total, 13 volumes were released. Each focuses on different characters from the series, includes stickers, a bonus DVD with four episodes from the anime, and features chapters from Fairy Tail Zero and Fairy Tail: Ice Trail. Of course, Volume 7 is all about Laxus and the Raijinshuu! But... mostly Laxus.

Polar sea monster, its sounds can be heard from the bottom, for kilometers.

Alien eldritch dragon with tentacles on its face and wings.

Angelic-looking beast with sonic abilities.
Rubber dinosaur capable of inflating itself.

Flock of birds that form an immense winged creature.

Monitor lizard abandoning the land and becoming a mosasaur-like monster.

The journey to Fairy Tail.
Note: the Ice Trail spin off manga shows Gray’s journey to joining Fairy Tail, however I’m only taking a few aspects of it myself.
In the aftermath of Ur using Iced Shell, authorities and assistance came to the town to begin the cleanup and search for survivors. Gray was tended to for his relatively minor injuries, but as he began to be questioned about what happened and if he was from that town, he decided to get away while he could. He was still processing all that had happened, but he knew that he wanted to get stronger, and Ur’s words of stepping into the future were clear in his mind. He managed to get away and follow the road to the nearest village.
Having lived in a border town, where travellers were always passing through, Gray often heard tales of powerful mages. The sentiment that there were ‘powerful mages to the West’ was one he’d heard even before becoming Ur’s student and hearing similar words from her. So, heading further west, further into Fiore, became his goal. However, it wouldn’t be easy for him, being just a kid, in addition to the fact that his goal was…pretty vague actually.
With no money or food, he resorted to stealing supplies and stowing away on merchant wagons or trains. Any time that someone looked at him for a moment too long, he would make sure to get away as soon as possible, yet there were also times when strangers extended kindness to him and gave him food. The nicest thing done for him was when an old lady brought a train ticket for him, which meant he didn’t have to hide in the luggage compartment for once. Unfortunately, it was that train ride which was hijacked by mercenary mages, and Gray got entangled in the fighting (read: involved himself in the fighting).
Rune Knights and enforcement soon arrived to deal with the situation, prompting Gray to make a hurried escape into the nearby forest. He wandered around and got hopelessly lost, but after a time, came across a small village. The village was having trouble with monsters in the forest, so Gray said he could help them, only to find that they had already enlisted the help of a mage. This was what led him to meet Gildarts, the mage in question, and shenanigans ensued.
He'd heard stories of ‘Gildarts of the West’ before, and seeing his impressive magic in person, made him curious about the man’s guild. This is what prompted Gray to seek Fairy Tail and make his way there. Gildarts accompanied him for a good portion of the journey, giving him a train ticket to Magnolia when they parted ways in Clover town. During this leg of his journey, Gray began to hear more about the guild, specifically about its Master, Makarov. Knowing that the man was considered a ‘saint’ and possessed skill in a variety of magics, Gray held hope that he would have the knowledge about how to safely free Ur from Iced Shell.
Arriving at the guild, with a letter from Gildarts to the Master, Gray asked Makarov about the spell and received the disappointing news. Even so, Gray decided Magnolia, and Fairy Tail, was as good a place as any to stay, and he joined the guild.

Blue Exorcist X Fairy Tail
"What's going on out there?" Asks Lucy, making her way out the guild. The rest of Team Natsu following behind her.
Their in the middle of the square was Rin.
"Please... Yukio you don't understand."
"I don't understand?!"
Rin flinched back, Natsu frowned exchanging looks with the others.
"Your right Rin, I don't understand. I don't understand how you could be so reckless and stupid, do you have any idea the trouble you've caused."
With every word, Rin got more and more upset.
The team had heard enough.
"Hey! Get away from him!" Yelled Lucy.
Yukio blinked in suprise.
"Hey Rin, good to see you man" said Gray, standing very beside him.
While Erza stood infront. "Is there a problem here?" She asked, looking at Yukio with a cold gaze.
Natsu was at her side and Lucy was standing with Rin.
Rin who visibly relaxed having them nearby.
Yukio smiled warmly that didn't fool any of them.
"No trouble here at all miss, I was just talking to my brother. I didn't know he had any friends."
Rin looked down, Gray put an arm around him. "Yeah? Funny we didn't know he had a brother. But if he's as much as a tool as you than no wonder."
Yukio's smile disappeared.
Rin snorted and Yukio glared at him.
"I will have to ask you all to leave, Rin will be coming with me."
"Rin do you want to go with your brother?" Asked Lucy.
Rin shook his head.
"There you go, now scram."
Yukio shook his head "You misunderstand, criminals don't get to choose to wander free. The Vatican asked me personally to bring you back Rin."
Yukio cocked his gun, aiming it at Rin's head.
"Dead or alive."
A sword cut through the air and slashed Yukio's gun in half.
"If you want Rin you'll have to go through me." Said Erza, equipping to her heavens wheel armour.
"And me" said Natsu, flames bursting from his hands.
"And me" said Grey, ice bursting from his hands.
"And me" said Lucy, holding Loke's key and her whip.
"How did... How can you defend him? He's a monster, nothing but a demon that should be put down." Yells Yukio.
"Because he's family, something you clearly know nothing about." Says Mirajane, stepping out with a communications lacrima.
The guild had heard everything and they were all behind her.
"Everyone..." Whispers Rin, looking at them all in shock.
"He's family, and we protect our family no matter who they are. No matter where they came from, no matter their powers, or their circumstances. All that matters is your heart." Says Marakarov.
"Master Makarov..." A tear trailed down Rin's cheek.
No one had ever stood up to Yukio for him before.
Makarov gave him a warm smile "your stuck with us kid."
Portals opened behind Yukio, reinforcements from the Vatican.
Among their numbers Rin recognised his old friends and Shura.
It broke his heart but he wasn't suprised.
What did suprise him was that all of Fairy Tail, dedpite barely knowing him had decided that not only was Rin worth protecting.
Was worth fighting for.
That he was family.
'It's been a long time since I've had a family...' He thought.
He wiped his tears, and unsheathed Kurikara.
Blue flames burst from him sword and him.
The Vatican all looked at him with fright and rage.
Lead by his little brother.
While Fairy Tail looked at him in awe.
It was there Rin made his decision.
He was tired of running.
"I'm Rin, Rin of Fairy Tail." He said.
Lucy smiled, remembering her own moment.
"Well, Rin of Fairy Tail. What do you think we should do?" Asks Makarov.
Rin grinned, it went from ear to ear and no one had seen him this happy in a long time.
"Kivk their asses, send em packing... And than we throw a party."
All of Fairy Tail cheered "Aye!"
Before charging into battle.

the war was finally over, fairy tail and the rest of the guilds won, everything could be peaceful again. but it would be a long time before any sense of normalcy would occur. everyone has their own wounds, some had it worst than others, but everyone alive would remember this war for the rest of their lives. because of Wendy’s quick first aid juvia’s life was in no risk. But it still hurt to move around. But there was someone she had to see, someone who was still alive because of her, someone who would rather harm themselves than to harm her. She needed to see Gray. She looked around the guild hall for him, but there was no sign of him.
There was one more area she thought she could find him, she wanted to try but at the same time knew it was probably best to leave him alone. But her desires overpowered her clear thoughts and so she ran out of the guild hall, ignoring the burning feeling in her side to the spot the two of them were at before the war. He was there, watching the sunrise of the first day of a new time. After silently catching her breath, she walked to his side and looked at the colorful sky. It took her a moment before she looked at the ice mage ‘ gray-San. are you feeling ok? ‘ concerned for him more than herself juvia didn’t know how to start this conversation. WHAT WAS THIER RELATIONSHIP ?
‘ juvia is so happy you’re alive and I’m so happy that I can still be by your side. . . ‘ she can’t muster up the courage to say anything else.
IT WAS OVER, FINALLY IT WAS ALL OVER. AND HE HAD SURVIVED IT. That truly was what shocked him the most about it all, the fact that he was still breathing, still alive to see the future that was secured for them all. He found his attention locked firmly on his hands, the cracks far more prominent then they have ever been, permanently marking his failed attempt at ending it all so stupidly suddenly. Just another new scar to match-
BLUE FLASHED ACROSS HIS MEMORY AS THE INJURY ON HIS SIDE FLARED UP. On instinct alone, his hand dropped to the wound, allowing his magic to leak over it until it was numb enough for him to ignore once again. I had almost lost her. The memory played in a loop, the pain in his stomach as his ice burst out the other end, the absolute horror in meeting her eyes and seeing her parallel would. The scream he had let out when he realized what she had done echoed again and again. More magic than expected coated the wound, snapping him out of his head at the sudden stab of ice on uninjured skin.
BEFORE HE COULD SLIP BACK INTO HIS OWN HEAD, HER VOICE REACHED HIS EARS. Shifting ever so slightly, he found his eyes tracing over her, before settling on the injury, in better state than his own ( the mountains of thanks he owed Wendy ever growing ) but still there. I almost lost her. But I didn't. Not this time. A wave of guilt washed over the ice mage as he turned his attention to the river below. I don't deserve you. I don't deserve what you did for me.
❝ I... I'm so glad you're okay.
HIS WORDS WERE SHAKY, UNNAMED EMOTIONS CREEPING INTO EVERY SYLLABLE. No. That was a lie. He knew exactly what emotion it was. It was the same emotion he had named when they were together during the year the guild wasn't. The same emotion he tried to force away when he had to leave her for Avatar. The same emotion he was hoping she'd forget when he vanished into ice to end the war. Silently, he found his hand trailing toward hers, letting his frigid touch rest gently against the warm and alive one of her own.
❝ I... I really don't deserve what you did for me, for you saving me... but I promise I'll make it up to you. Somehow...

oo have you thought about reading the fairy tail sidestories? not like 100q or anything (oh god) but the story about the original 1st guildmaster of fairy tail or the companion short stories about laxus during the 7 year quest in blue pegasus or sabertooth's mini stories?
Oh dear 100yq is really a trainwreck, huh.
But I’ve read all the Gaidens/Sidestories! :) Or at least, I think I’ve read them all, I’ve read most of them at least, definitely the Laxus one where they were in Blue Pegasus (during the 1 year timeskip) I’ve read. I remember Gray’s Ice Trail very well. Oh, except City Hero. I am purposefully avoiding that one.
I also loved FT Zero intensely, I remember reading this one very early on because ‘zero’ meant it was a prequel and I was fascinated by Mavis’ character at the time (I think I only watched until 7y timeskip at the time, it was so long ago). Zera was such a heartbreaking existence, and I love ‘actually they were a ghost the whole time’ sort of plot twists in any media.

Ice Dragon Slayer
Ps: A bit of inspiration from fairy tail
Those who wield this kind of magic gain affinity to ice. In colder climates they gain strength but in hotter climates they weaken. They can also eat ice to gain strength but a powerful ice dragon slayer is capable of stealing or devouring the heat that is currently in the area. Though devouring it doesn't seem to increase one's magic power but it does increase the power of one's spells due to the area of coldness left behind. He can control a bit of water too, but has limits. He can't control massive amounts like an ocean though he can control an amount that is an area around him.
Abilities
Ice Scales
This ability is only unique to ice dragon slayers as this covers their body with ice that resembles scales. These scales are capable of defending attacks from any kind of physical or magic attacks. But they do break when hit enough force or if there is heat that is enough to melt it. The ice scales also gives the user strength as their body will only feel the cold when using this ability and it may strengthen some of their spells.
Oracle
Ice dragon slayers have a rare ability to be able to see the past, present, and future.
Attacks
Roar of the Ice Dragon
This spell is capable of unleashing pure frost energy from the mouth of the user and unleashes it like a pure beam of ice. Anything that comes in contact with it would instantly freeze.
Winter Breath of the Ice Dragon
An alternative way of using the roar, this spell instead of focusing the energy into one beam, lets out a breath that releases cold winds that can freeze enemies or the terrain in an area.
Claws of the Ice Dragon
This spell coats their hands with ice and makes makeshift claws capable of slashing enemies. Enemies that get hit would have their stamina be drain from them as the cold sets in.
Wingbeat of the Ice Dragon
The user covers their arms with magic and claps it unleashing a blizzard that can freeze enemies in the area. Alternatively one can also cover their arms with it and use it defensively making barriers of ice from the ground. The user can also create wings that can be used for more power.
Sword of the Ice Dragon
This spell is used to resemble the tail of the ice dragon as their tails are capable of generating ice and use it as a makeshift sword for enemies that are near it. This creates an ice sword that can be used for close combat. Anything hit by it would be slashed and be covered in ice.
Hailstorm of the Ice Dragon
The user projects his energy to the sky and freezes the water droplets in the air and create shards of ice that will hail down on enemies.
Frozen Cage of the Ice Dragon
The user focuses his energy on a target and clamps down his hands in a chomping like motion, then two claws manifested from magic will clash from above and below, creating a cage like structure. The enemy will be frozen in place.
Dragon Slayer Secret Art
World of Zero: Shattering White Crystals
This secret art gathers one's energy on a single area. The user unleashes a white light that would instantly freeze enemies in the area and encase them in a crystal. Then the crystal will shatter taking away the enemies energy and magic making them completely void of all of it.
World of Absolute Zero
The user releases all magic from with him and unleashes it into an area. Everything would become covered in ice and snow and all of it is in your command. The side effect of this would be how much the user projected their magic into the area. After using the spell the user would be instantly exhausted depending on how much one expends it.
High Weapon: Bow of absolute zero
This weapon is enchanted with highly focused magic. The bow is constructed to be able to handle strong and highly focused magic. The arrow is the one that is enhanced with that power that when it hits something, everything around it turns to ice. Even when the arrow is released, it leaves a trail of ice that even when one touches it, they freeze.

Now, this here is what Babes looks like in his full genie attire. Unlike his normal clothing, which is just his jersey, Babes wears nothing but light blue shorts and a purple genie cap with a gold star that has a ruby in the middle of it. Babes' cap folds his ears down, similar to whenever Bugs, Buster, or Babs wear hats. If you look closely into Babes' back, you'll see a magic lamp tattoo, which would be my character's birthmark. If Babes is wished to be free, Babes will still keep his powers, but no longer have golden shackles on his wrists.
As I stated before with Babes not being able to take damage, and being super strong, and the inability to fall after looking down, Babes' full arsenal of magic powers include granting three wishes, shapeshifting, healing, removing his body parts, breathing underwater and in Space, levitation, elemental magic (fire, lightning, water, wind, ice, and plant), x-ray vision, mind control, growing and shrinking, super speed, invisibility, immortality, time travel, and flight.
It should be noted that when Babes flies, he can turn his legs into a genie tail if he wanted. It's possible he can also leave a blue cloud trail behind as he flies at high speeds.
And yes, if you wanted, my character would also sing a cover of "Friend Like Me" from "Aladdin" to enforce his genie persona, similar to how his sister likes to dress as a fairy.
