Tumblr media
it'd been a long day, a long day where you had been growing more and more agitated.
Matt could tell as soon as you walked in, the way you huffed when you assumed he couldn't hear it, the jumbled whine stuck in your throat when the files he'd given you didn't stack together as neatly as you would've liked. his brows creased whenever he had to listen to your heart rate tug itself between rapid and sluggish.
the tips of his calloused fingers traced over the same three punctuated dots on whatever document detailing the latest case he'd been given, a hasty translation. most of the indentations were confusing or off. he didn't really care about the poor accommodations from his client at the moment, though—— his fingers went over the word 'and' about fifteen times before his mind had actually processed it, he was too focused on the sound of his intern shakily jamming a pod of something into the half-dead keruig Karen had gotten for their depressing kitchenette. it was a sweet thought at the time.
he made sure to politely inform her to avoid the $30 facebook marketplace listings afterwards, though.
an annoyed groan punctuated with a salty scent filled the small space, Matt's footsteps nearly silent as he made his way to the doorframe— his thumbs ghosted over the handle of his cane, his brows furrowed in a concerned expression as you tried not to cry over some coffee not going to plan.
“everything alright, kid?”
Matt asked quietly, his voice holding the same cadence of a worried teacher.
you didn't answer, though the familiar sound of muscles tensing around your face followed by fabric rustling at your hands told him you'd simply frowned and begun to fidget. his mind wandered to a different explanation, his own mouth turning into a frown at the thought.
Matt never saw your regression as something to be shamed—— the opposite, actually. no, he'd gone out of his way to stock the office up with hot cocoa packets and rainbow marshmallows (at least, the cashier told him they were rainbow. her heartbeat at the time didn't help his confidence on the matter.), he'd even gotten a little plush to keep on the office's couch.
still, having to watch you feel so upset never made him happy.
his hand carefully extended, feeling for the accursed coffee machine and gently fixing the top shut, his mouth curving into a line when he felt you sway a bit closer to him in the process.
his free hand reached around your shoulder, allowing you to rest against the worn fabric of his suit jacket. a quick smile from him as he listened to your heartbeat calm in his presence. he couldn't help the small swell of pride knowing he was doing something right to try and help ease your emotions.
“I should ask Karen to replace this soon. I think it has a vendetta.”
Matt chuckled quietly, a soft smile pulling at his lips as he reached up into the cabinet above the counter, feeling around for mugs and letting his hands trace over the ceramic. none of them had any features he could discern by touch, aside from a mug you'd attempted to put braille on in puffy paint, and another with three-dimensional fish scales across the front.
“nod when I get to the one you want?” he suggested with a head tilt as his hand went from one mug to the next, listening for your cue to stop.
he gave a soft giggle when his hand rested on a mug sitting somewhere near the top left row, followed by your hand tugging at his sleeve.
“this one, sweetheart?”
he took the sound of your hair brushing up and down as you giving a nod, moving the mug to the base of the machine and feeling for the indented labels over the buttons, turning it on the listening to the creaky sound of water boiling and hot chocolate dispensing out.
his hand idly traced up and down your left shoulder, absently counting each seam and thread along your shirt as the creaky noises came to a quick halt.
“careful, it's hot.”
he murmured, opting to hold the base of the mug as he handed it to you, waiting a moment to be sure you were holding onto it tight.
“now, we don't have any whipped cream—— but I'm told these marshmallows are shaped like rabbits...”
Matt's voice came out with a smile, his words enunciated with some suspense to try and make you happy, you exhaled a bit out of your nose, so he took that as a win.
he placed a few into the mug and let you hold onto his forearm as he walked you back into his office, sitting beside you on the hand-me-down sofa—— he chose not to ask Foggy where he'd gotten it, but most signs pointed to side of the road. nothing a gallon of lysol couldn't fix, he guessed. the springs prorested beneath the two of you, your head falling onto his shoulder almost instinctively, he was quick to bundle you in a blanket he'd left folded on the arm, exhaling a long breath as he listened to yours beginning to even out, the smell of sugary chocolate and printer paper filling his nose.
“s‘ has cats on it..”
his brows raised when you spoke, it'd been a little bit since you'd said anything today. anything of your own volition, at least.
“the mug?” he asked carefully, his own eyes beginning to droop, you were a welcome warmth against him, your own sleepiness felt contagious.
you gave a nod, felt against the crook of his neck as you sipped from the newly learned cat mug.
“that's nice, angel. are you tired?”
the question was rhetorical, more or less. he knew you were, his hand was already prepping to catch the half-full mug and set it on his desk in the event of you getting too lethargic to hold it up properly.
you nodded again, Matt gave a smile, tucking the blanket up just under your neck, your legs bunched up on the pleather couch.
“I think my client will understand if we take a nap,” his thumb traced over your brow, lulling your eyes shut. “just rest, the case will still be there in the morning.” Matt's voice was a mumble, drifting into soothing murmurs and eventual silence once he was sure you were fully asleep, his free hand underneath the mug, carefully removing it from your limp fingers and placing it on the nearest surface.
he gently laid on his back, letting you bundle up and rest your head on his chest, he didn't mind the cramped space on the couch. you were comfortable and at ease, that was all that mattered to him for the time being.

young lady, we were very clear about our boundaries and guidelines when we decided to let you make a tumblr account again after you started "kinning" that picture of the little anime girl with no arms or legs or eyes, as well as that picture of a sad ant with a bindle which was photoshopped to look like a bindle creature carrying an ant head on a stick. and the videos you reblogged of industrial machinery that look a bit like some penices and holes doing nasty things to each other, along with your tags which implied that you wished they were your penices or holes, have shown us that you're not ready for the responsibility of posting yet. so, yuuup, we're selling your vintage nintendo DS collection on facebook marketplace. yes. and your battlejacket. of course we mean the one with the worm on a string patches.

WIBTA for offering constructive criticism on Facebook marketplace?
I get that that sounds shitty but hear me out. I just bought a used piece of furniture on Facebook marketplace from someone whose listing and communications set off a ton of red flags.
🚩 No original photos, just a screenshot of the original Amazon listing
🚩 Responded to all of my messages really fast with really simple answers (the kind of thing you could do with a bot)
🚩 Did not barter/negotiate when my offer was 20% below list price, just immediately accepted it
🟡 Profile picture had real people in it, but in a plain grassy field and from a distance (easy to AI generate or find stock photos with this composition, but also a common enough layout for real people's family photos)
🟢 Account had been active for >5 years (probably would've been deactivated by now if they've been scamming)
So I did go through with the purchase and pick-up, taking reasonable precautions to reduce the risk of being mugged or otherwise harmed. Turns out the seller was a wonderful person who gave me tips on reassembling the furniture, and was waiting outside with it when I arrived so I didn't even have to enter their house.
They did make a comment in person that they were just glad someone wanted to buy this piece, they hadn't been getting much interest on it.
WIBTA for following up days later, saying something like "Thanks for the assembly tips! Also, just so you know, your listing had a few red flags, which may be why you weren't getting much interest. In the future, you might get better results if you include at least one original photo of the item, even if it's already disassembled." I don't want to insult their ability to craft marketplace listings, but I feel like someone so considerate irl deserves to know that they're coming across as sketchy online?
What are these acronyms?

I understand hating Apple but can't quite tell from your post what your specific issue with them is, so, if it's giving them money directly, you could go for your local secondary market to still get the equipment. Facebook marketplace often has them, probably craigslist too. (Also understand if not, just wanted to put the idea out there if you hadn't thought of it) (I can't give equipment advice unfortunately, I just do little sketches on my Samsung phone with the spen. It's alright but after about 2 years you have to replace it if you want the pressure sensor to work right again)
I just really hate apple in all accounts, their tech goes bad so quickly and if it breaks you cant fuckin repair it yourSELF which is my FAVORITE THING TO DO and i dont like how the UI looks [thats petty i kneow] its just also the planned obsolence of their EVERYTHING that makes my blood boil a little
like i kneow they are THE company to go to for the thing i want but i hate them with a passion to the point that this whole search is on part an act of pettyness ngl but also i dont have the money to go around paying apple to fix things i should be able to fix myself

The state of New Mexico has sued social media giant Meta and its CEO Mark Zuckerberg for “knowingly” exposing children to ‘sexual exploitation and mental health harm.’
In a Tuesday court filing, New Mexico’s Attorney General’s (NMAG) Office revealed that it had conducted an undercover investigation, creating fake accounts of minors which were then used to fish for offending content, according to a press release reported by the Daily Caller.
“Meta and its CEO tell the public that Meta’s social media platforms are safe and good for kids,” reads the lawsuit. “The reality is far different. Meta knowingly exposes children to the twin dangers of sexual exploitation and mental health harm. Meta’s conduct has turned New Mexico children who are on its platforms into victims. Meta’s motive for doing so is profit.”
Meta is accused of allowing Facebook and Instagram to become “a marketplace for predators in search of children upon whom to prey.”

hey punk tumblr community, if i were to make and sell jacket and vest bases (dyeing colors, bleaching or painting designs), diy patches, and diy wallet chains, would there be a market?
ive thought about it before but not reallt seriously and rn i could really use the extra money bc my dads in the hospital and the bill is gonna be pretty bad since he didnt have insurance and is only now signing up for medicaid, and hes self employed.
i have under 1k in my bank account atm (ive been trying to save up to move out of my grandparents basement) so im hoping the extra cash from this could help out some? we'll also probably end up setting up a gofundme but that wont be until after we see the final bill.
basically, is this market here? whats better to sell on, etsy, ebay? i cant use marketplace i dont use facebook. depop? idk ive never done this before.
heres some examples of what i can do (slightly outdated, the spine looks better now but i cant take a new pic bc im sitting in the hospital now)

Hey, do you have tips for casting on people we don't have strong taglocks for? In this specific case I know their exact address, but nothing like full names and other stuff.
Full address works great. If possible, turn in that direction during spell casting. Also a remedial tag lock can be made just by describing the guy and how you know him.
E.g., (in writing), “sneaky Facebook marketplace bastard using a fake account who received my delivery at [x address].” Or, “guy who left his phone in my Uber and then blamed me for stealing it.”
Include dates and specific details, like filing a police report.
Also like if you know their username and on what website and so forth.
Write all this down and use your personal report as a taglock. Not the best there is, but IMO way better than just “focusing intent”

Ever had to deal with paper work from any type of farmer in your accounting endeavours? Let me tell you it is an adventure. When you get their paperwork the first question you want to ask but don’t ask is what is that smell? The question you actually do ask them is where’s the rest of the paperwork? and they go oh Jim bob was driving down the highway with the windows open and half of it flew out the window. So you say ok well unless you can prove that the several hundred dollars you spent at (store unrelated to farming) is a business expense I’m not going to record it as a business expense and then they get mad because apparently you’re wrong and cows can go in a jacuzzi??
we have one department head who, because of the nature of his department (think grounds maintenance) always comes in with greasy hands smelling like cigarettes but also sometimes skunks (because he catches skunks). he cannot use a computer. in order to type his monthly reports someone has to open word for him so that he can use it like a typewriter. everything he turns in is crinkled from being in his pockets. i was not looking forward to dealing with Any Of That when i first started but it turns out he's a delight to work with. his invoices are crumpled but they're always in on time. he turns in purchase orders before we get billed. paperwork for his employees shows up at my desk without me ever having to ask. i would take another ten of him over the guy who keeps finding equipment deals on facebook marketplace and paying out of pocket before writing himself reimbursement authorizations.
