I wouldn’t have minded the timeline reset as much if Toby hadn’t become the trollhunter (no actually i would, fuck the timeline reset lol)
Trollhunter Toby affects literally everyone else’s arc in a BAD WAY. Toby himself included (the trollhunter role doesn’t fit the character, sorry)
It’s just a brand new timeline with different relationships, no matter how much Jim tries to make things close to the first timeline. Blinky wont care for Jim like he did. The beautiful relationship with Draal is gone.
Ah, the Wizards timeline? Also gone :)
Troll Jim wouldnt exist because he isn’t the trollhunter. Deya wouldn’t have been rescued. The gumm gumms wouldn’t have been defeated by the good trolls. Blinky and Arrgh wouldn’t be friends. Gunmar basically would have won.
Hilarious because the Wizards timeline is the reason why Merlin turned Jim into a troll Imao
THE PLOT HOLES UGH
Jim wasn’t a random trollhunter, he was THE trollhunter. He was probably the most important character in the series. His actions strongly influenced the past and the future.
ROTT WRITERS DIDN’T WATCH THE SERIES.

Thank you tumblr for absolutely destroying image quality. Freaking wtf?
Some more Dark Excalibur AU
The Knighting of Steve Palchuk
We all agree that Steve needed a better arc than what RotT gave him. He deserved a chance to be a hero, a path that he started in Wizards before it fizzled out into being the comedic relief. Wizards set everyone up as the better generational mirrors to Camelot. Jim to Arthur, Claire to Morgana, Douxie to Merlin, Toby probably to Galahad, and Steve very obviously to Lancelot. I've said at the start that no one comes out of this AU unscathed, so while Steve gets the heroic redemption, it comes at a cost, one that pulls on that parallel.
RotT in the Dk-E still happens, I'm not letting everyone get their happily ever after at the end of Wizards. But I'll be damned if I end it with Toby and so many others dead, and Jim pushed into a timeline reset. You can thank Steve for that. It's because of Steve that Toby lives. Steve goes with Toby in the Taco truck, and it is Steve that yanks Toby out of the way of the collapsing debris. But Steve becomes pinned himself, resulting in the loss of his arm. An act of selflessness and bravery, valor and sacrifice, that earns him the title of First Knight of the Roundtable of New Camelot. An equal advisor, responsible for not only the protection of Camelot, and those Jim has claimed as his (which is everyone, human, troll, changeling, down to the last gnome), but also finding and training new knights, those who value all life and are willing to fight to protect it, and want to see the worlds of man and magic together in harmony instead of hate and fear.
And so we come to the Knighting of Steve Palchuk. This isn't just pomp and meaningless ceremony, this has true weight and meaning to both Jim and Steve. Jim pulls on Excalibur's magic, his voice resonating with ethereal power, creating a bond of trust and loyalty that goes both ways, only formed if given willingly. Knight to his King, King to Knight, both to the protection of all worlds and their peoples. Jim's eyes light up in tandem with the blade as the power of Excalibur and Nimue courses through him, flames licking along the blade's edge and into Steve. Steve's armor reflecting this bond as the magic burns through him.
And like Lancelot, Steve will get a fully functional prosthetic arm. There will be hardship, adapting to this new reality. But Steve has become a hero. A man of courage... far from his highscool self. A survivor, who will fight with everything he has.
Rise now, Sir Steve, First Knight of the Roundtable and New Camelot.
Closeups below
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Notes: some of the descriptive wording around the ceremony itself came from a discussion about Jim using Excalibur for the knighting, and are used with permission of Sakon76, who is a much better writer than I.
Expect more if Steve's story at a later time.

We are not talking enough about Jim being able to do a 1vs2 against Angor Rot and Gunmar.
Tumblr media
The boy without really testing his body or adapting humiliated them both, he survived the last point-blank attack from Morgana empowered with Merlin's powers, while it took Merlin + Douxie to stop her 900 years ago. My boy was overpowered. If Jim had Excalibur here, he would have eaten the whole verse.
And I don't even think troll Jim is the strongest version of him. This is the strongest Jim
Tumblr media
Jimbo deserves more credit!

Hello ☺️
I know you've done general Jim, jlaire, and troll dad Blinky headcanons, but do you have any specific to the new timeline and even beyond? I love all of your ask posts btw, such fantastic Au's and our hc generally almost always align!
Hi!
Thanks for your kind words ❤ ❤ ❤
My oldest headcanon about the new timeline exists since July, 21, 2021 (when I wrote this oneshot https://archiveofourown.org/works/32729335 ). This one is that Jim keeps the new amulet and Excalibur in the new timeline.
My other headcanons about the new timeline and beyond were build through the two and half years (a lot of stuff keeps expanding, to be honest).
So here's my really long post about the happy ending for everyone.
Jim has managed to make everything right in this timeline, even with some stuff he didn't predict (like Enrique was still kidnapped - it just happened on a different date).
Everyone in the new timelines has these odd hunches about things they experienced in the first timeline. Like Claire having some odd attraction to Jim, Blinky being fatherly to Jim, and Barbara getting random thoughts that Strickler might be inhuman. Toby has it the worst as he can't help but think that everything is not his adventure and that Jim would be a better hero.
Because of hunches both Claire and Barbara find out the truth way earlier.
However, Toby is the first who realize that Jim somehow knows about all the incoming events. Jim has no choice but to confess about the time travel. He keeps the details from everyone though, especially those that might cause complications.
Jim brings Douxie into the team before the final encounter with Bular. Claire requests Douxie to become her magic teacher once she joins and he agrees.
Aja, Krel, and Varvatos join once they arrive on Earth.
Draal lives. Vendel is injured but also survives.
Angor gets his soul back this time. He isn't happy with Strickler but decides to let it go per Jim's request.
Toby spares Bular (much to Jim's shock). Bular starts to live in Toby's house, trying to reconsider his ways. Initially, Draal watches his actions and they eventually become friends.
Morgana fails to possess Claire. She possesses Angor instead.
Strickler manages to convince some changelings to switch sides, so more changelings survive.
Jim doesn't allow Merlin to transform anyone into a half-troll. He shows Merlin Excalibur (leaving the latter speechless), so Merlin begrudgingly agrees to try Jim's plan first.
After Gunmar's death, Bular inherits Decimaar and uses it to liberate all the trolls his father controlled.
Jim and Claire talk Morgana into trying to give co-existence a second chance. She isn't convinced fully but agrees to wait.
The residents of the Trollmarket never go to New Jersey, which means that Aja and Krel have more people to help them.
Jim is deadset on never letting anyone be hit with an onyx shard. He ends up taking the hit for Claire - only to discover that it has no effect on him (as Excalibur cannot harm his owner and Jim is technically another owner because of the time paradox).
Merlin isn't happy to learn that the Green Knight is actually King Arthur. The same goes for Morgana, but she blames Merlin for her brother ending that way.
Merlin finally realizes that he has been too stubborn all the time, refusing to see other options. He uses all his magic to seal Bellroc and Skrael and entrusts Douxie with leading the new king of Camelot.
AND NOW TO BEYOND
Jim is technically the King of Camelot now, which makes him rather uncomfortable at first. However, with Douxie's encouragement, he realizes that more than an authority figure, he's King of knights, a noble protector of both humanity and magical beings, and the first among equals.
Claire continues with her magical studies, fully determined to prove that shadowmancy isn't always evil and can bring much good to this world. She consults a lot with Morgana, even though she still considers Douxie her teacher.
Toby is still this timeline's Trollhunter but lately, he mostly deals with small errands from Bagdwella and other trolls. He doesn't mind as it feels a lot like vacation after everything the team has gone through.
Blinky succeeds Vendel as the leader of Trollmarket. He thinks about bringing some reform to the Tribunal and some obsolete traditions, thinking that trolls should start a new page in their history.
Aaarrrgghh always helps Blinky in his endeavors, but he protects peace in Arcadia. He's much like a local celebrity and kids love him.
Mary and Darci start a blog about various magical creatures, trying to show humans that the supernatural isn't that harmful. Mary also tries to date a troll at some point. It doesn't work, but only because of personality differences, not because their species are too different.
Barbara returns to drawing. Strickler uses some of his connections to promote her art a bit. Surprisingly, Barbara's art becomes really popular.
After some consideration, Strickler opens the school where different creatures, aliens, and humans can exchange their culture. He takes over as a principal and also teaches human history. Blinky comes over for troll history lessons, and when Claire is older she starts to teach Human World Literature there.
Eli is still the Earth ambassador at Akiridion-5, he's rather popular there. Eli is also the one who proposes the start of technological exchange with the Earth. Due to his efforts, Earth's technical progress is busted tremendously.
Steve the head of New Camelot Knights. However, eventually, once he is sure that everything is peaceful on Earth, he moves to Akiridion-5 to support Aja and help Eli. Even though Steve is officially married to Aja, he isn't that accepted at Akiridion-5 as it is technically breaking traditions. This time Aja informs him about all the nuances of akiridion reproduction. They still have kids, but only once both ready and consented to that.
Aja has a lot of stuff to solve, dealing with all the consequences of her parents' rule. She brings in lots of reforms and eventually limits her own authority, taking over the role of the main Akiridion-5 protector, while leaving everything else to those more fitting for it.
Krel moves to Earth, becoming Akiridion-5 ambassador and trying to popularize interstellar travels and exchange. He also has a side career as DJ Kleb.
Varvatos retires and starts living with Nana. Toby calls him granpa, which he doesn't like.
Douxie and Zoe go on the world tour with ADP once the world destruction is prevented. Claire, Mary, and Darci join them as Mama Skull.
Douxie opens his own cafe together with Jim. While they both are co-owners, Douxie enjoys taking over as a waiter occasionally, while Jim often cooks. It's the place where every creature is welcome, and well the Guardians often use it as their gathering spot.
Nomura becomes the leader of changelings who wish to return to troll society. Draal helps her a lot to fight for acceptance and against prejudices. They claim each other as mates, which causes an uproar in some circles. Even though both claim to be disastrous parents, they are great once they have their own kids.
Vendel retires, fully enjoying his rest. He comes to give blinky advice occasionally, but he's mostly a grumpy grandpa for everyone at the Trollmarket.
Dictatious takes over the troll library, adding some stuff he learns.
Angor goes on a travel (for an atonement, as he claims). He's seen all over the world, fighting against slavery and injustice at night. Soon enough he becomes a kind of city legend, and a lot of criminals are scared of him.
Bular goes to the Darklands, fully intending to reform the Gumm-Gumm tribe and get rid of the stigma they have.
Barbara and Strickler have their planned wedding and adopt some of the changelings' familiars, including Strickler's and Nomura.
Ironically, despite Jim and Claire being sure of each other feelings, Toby and Darci have their wedding first. It's the final push that makes Claire propose to Jim.
Enrique grows up to be a party monster, much because of NotEnrique's influence. They both tend to start parties which only Jim can stop.
Zelda (Nomura's familiar) is a huge fan of classical music, so they both can chat about it for hours. No one else is able to follow.
Wallie (Strickler's familiar), however, finds history boring. He's more of an IT and Math kid and is extremely talented. Strickler tells him the truth about their connection, and Wallie goes to live with Jim for some time to sort out his feelings. He forgives Strickler after some time though.
The world keeps changing as humans and supernatural beings learn to co-exist. Trolls take over dangerous mining, trading some difficult-to-get minerals. Humans also realize that trolls can eat some waste, which creates new ways to save nature. Nari feels that it's the world she, Bellroc, and Skrael wished to have before giving up and hopes that one day the rest of the Arcane Order will be unsealed and admit they were wrong.

Are there any headcannons you have about Douxie and Jim? Besides the brother one.
Hmm, for Douxie I HC:
He has NOT had a proper nights rest in about 900 years, he desperately needs to sleep for more than a few hours. Archie is the only reason he manages to sleep at all.
Archie is his therapy cat. That's it.
Although he keeps a cheery, upbeat attitude, I do think Douxie suffers from anxiety and depression. It comes with immortality.
Douxie has sensory processing disorder and is extremely sensitive therefore to magical auras.
I really like the idea that Douxie and Jim are the modern Merlin and Arthur, with Claire as the modern Morgana. Douxie is the one to point this out, as he firmly believes in the power of breaking out of a cycle.
For Jim I headcanon:
Cooking is Jim's form of therapy. It helps him to calm down and relax. Which is why it killed him when he turned into a half troll he couldn't cook on the journey to New Jersey, and even if he did, he couldn't taste any of the human food. Probably one of the worst things about being a troll for Jim.
I think maybe Jim might have ADHD.
Jim's not a fan of the dark anymore if he doesn't have some sort of light source or is alone. It instantly recalls memories of the Darklands. He also isn't a fan of the upstairs bathroom for more obvious reasons.
Post reset of the timeline Jim now officially has PTSD! Undiagnosed obviously, but it becomes more and more clear to his team/family as time goes on.
I think Jim can actually pull Excalibur on his own. The reason he needed anyone else's help was because he STILL doubted himself and probably wasn't in the best headspace at the time.
@honeyxmonkey and @bluheaven-adw you guys are experts on Douxie and Jim respectively, let me know if these HC's are acceptable! And give me your own too!

So, I have like an..idea okay. I’m not usually one to touch upon the garbage fire, but just this once.
Jim goes back in time, he’s impulsive and rash and his decision was not thought out at all, he was acting purely on the rush of emotional weight that was brought forth by his best friend dying.
The amulet calls for Toby.
That’s something he wasn’t expecting, Jim doesn’t understand why it didn’t call to him, did he do something wrong? Had his failure to save his best friend deemed him unworthy?
He tries to focus his attention elsewhere, working under the guise of unknowing, he can fix this. He even has time to work on the play, despite Claire’s oddly silent indifference toward him, like she knows something, but if she’s suspicious she never voices such.
It’s..weird.
The battle at the museum doesn’t happen because Jim manages to sway Strickler to their side, even if he’s a tad standoffish, everything is great, Draal has two arms, no ones died that hasn’t absolutely had too. Jim can do this, he can keep everyone safe.
He’s not folding under the pressure, he’s Atlas, he can hold the world up and still make time to finish his Spanish homework.
But something’s following them, someone, he should say. Toby’s the one who brings it up, after training one day in the forge, he blunders and bumbles through his explanation but gets his point across fairly clear.
There’s some shady figure in armor, and it’s not the Daylight armor, Toby has the amulet, no this looks, futuristic in a sense, a mixed combination of outer worldly tech and wizardry.
Jim doesn’t understand at first, he could have forgotten some minuet details but he absolutely does not recall a figure in armor stalking his best friend, let alone him this early into the timeline.
Unless Angor rot has been awoken but Strickler wouldn’t do that, would he? Angor rot doesn’t wear armor.
Weeks fly by with no answer.
Jim hopelessly continues through the motions, he mourns the fact his surrogate father no longer recognizes him, doesn’t see him as a son. Everything feels the same but different at the same time. He just wants to make things right.
Then, he sees them, this mysterious watcher, as he’s walking his bike home from Trollmarket, contemplating his next step.
Standing at the end of the street, motionless, the lamplight illuminating their dark armor. Appearing like an omen of death.
They have Excalibur, held loosely, too loosely for someone that should know how to wield a sword. His first constricting, paralyzing thought is the Green Knight, but no, this is someone else, they have his amulet, the one Douxie and Krel built.
Sitting in place over their heart. It ticks, time endlessly stretching out.
Excalibur is lifted up, pointed straight at his chest. And their voice comes loathing, enraged and betrayed through the helmet they wear.
“No more running, you coward.”
Someone followed Jim back in time, after he abandoned everyone and everything he’s ever known, and they want revenge.

This AU was made in April 2023, and is inspired by @emwritesfanfics' Heirs to the Arcana, but with a twist: Krel didn't get Skrael's powers. Aja did.
This doesn't really change anything. The world still ends. Aja tries to protect everyone with her new ice powers and fails.
Krel had been denying his feelings for months. He was standing next to Douxie when Aja was killed. Krel realized that he had lost the person he loved most, and the person he loved second-most would die without ever knowing about Krel's feelings. And so in one last desperate action, Krel kissed Douxie.
Jim wakes up with fire powers and the excalibur amulet. (Whether or not he gets the daylight amulet depends on if I were to use my no-time-travel version of Wizards or not. If I used canon Wizards, it'd be Jim to prevent an unstable loop involving troll!Jim. If I didn't, then Toby or Claire would become the trollhunter so we'd have one more person w/memories, this time regaining their memories the first time they transform in the armor.)
Aja wakes up with ice powers and immediately rushes over to check on her brother. (Also, she and Steve did not have kids. At most, she had been researching if they could ever have kids and if not then how to preserve House Tarron.)
Douxie wakes up with plant powers and the taste of Krel's lips on his own.
Krel's like "sure, this might as well happen" about Aja having ice powers and being from the future. Everyone's always said that Aja was extraordinary, and he was normal. At least she's more mature. Aja's sad that Krel doesn't remember.
The coup still happens, despite Aja's best efforts, and they end up on Earth (maybe even earlier bc Aja's attempts to fix things went badly). Douxie decides not to say anything about the kiss to Krel or Aja, though he had confided in Jim late one night.
They grab Gaylen's core earlier and move it elsewhere for safe keeping. Krel becomes obsessed with it
And then he merges with it
And he remembers everything
Once all the other craziness of "Krel wtf why did you merge w/Gaylen's core and why do you have wings" dies down, Krel has a quiet conversation with Douxie
Krel: I'm sorry I kissed you. Douxie, internally: Yep, it's just what I thought! He panicked at the end of the world and doesn't have feelings for me! This is part of why I never brought it up and now he's bringing it up! Krel: I didn't want to die without telling you, but now that I have context I know I must've made you deeply uncomfortable. I hope you can one day forgive me. Douxie: Uh actually do you wanna kiss me again? Please?
Also, post-Gaylenifcation Krel is more physically affectionate and less grumpy, which isn't actually that much of a change but seeing the rapid change weirds everyone out

“Jim,” Hisirdoux says while poking him in the cheek. “Jim, Jim, Jim, Ji-“
“Douxie do you mind?” He gestures to where he’s attempting to do his homework. “I’m a little bit busy here.”
Douxie waves his hand dismissively. “Homework shmomework. Who cares about that when you could be the king of England.”
“And for the last time, I’m not using Excalibur to usurp the throne from Charles.”
“But Jim,” Douxie whines. “This is the perfect opportunity to take revenge on the royal family.”
“As much as I would love to fuel your revenge fantasies, I haven’t even graduated high school yet. I couldn’t run a whole country.”
“The king of England is merely a figure head at this point, you would hardly have any ruling to do.”
“I’m not sure that’s true. I’ve seen The Crown, that looked like a whole lot of paperwork to read everyday.”
“Yes but if you were King, you could just say no.”
Jim raises an eyebrow. “What.”
“You know,” Douxie waves his hand in the air. “You could just dismantle the whole system when you’re king, and then boom! No paperwork and more importantly, no idiotic ‘Prince of Wales’ ruining the whole country.”
Jim frowns. “I don’t think that’s how it works. Plus the legend says that it has to be King Arthur who claims the throne and uh, I’m super duper not him.”
“Oh pish posh, irrelevant details.”
At Jim’s unimpressed look, Douxie sighs and gives him his best puppy dog eyes. “Please Jim? When have I ever asked you for anything?”
“You literally asked me to make you ‘cuskynoles’ this morning,” he says in exasperation. “I don’t even know what those are.”
Douxie gives him a strange look, filled with resolute determination. “Fine,” he says as he summons his staff. “Guess I’ll have to do this by myself.”
“Douxie no-“

WATCH THE WHOLE THING! Trust me 😏
It's here!!!!!!! I hope this was worth the wait :)
Images and information on a DTIYS below the jump!
This first bit of this might be familiar as it's been posted before. New stuff added at end!
Dark Excalibur Au
Everything happens exactly the same up to then very end of Wizards. The only difference being Jim is able to pull Excalibur then, on his own, making him Nimue's champion. Nimue grants him his crown and restores the trollhunter amulet to him. (Sorry Douxie and Krel, you'll get your time to shine later).. this is when Excalibur's aesthetic changes.
While Jim is 100% human now, he's not without after effects from being a troll. Not much physically (a bit stronger and faster), but personality wise... he's a bit more feral, confident, not really any trace of his former anxieties (except when it comes to Claire). He's not without fear (we don't need gritshaka Jim here...) but has mastery over it. Sometimes he can get a bit more... chaotic and temperamental... than before, but despite that, he's still Jim to his core. Despite all that he's been through, he's still ultimately kind, pure of heart, always tries to do the right thing, fiercely protective of those he loves.... as Blinky put it, a man of honor, courage and valor.
He's stopped fighting his destiny and stepped into it fully instead.
To quote Sakon...
Jim's problem has always been that he cares too much, and the anger inside him burns against the injustice of the world. It's Jim against the world, and the world /will move.
He still has way to much in the self sacrificial department…... but usually remembers that he has a team... literally the roundtable... a wizard, a sorceress... and a literal goddess….. backing him up.
Tumblr media
START OF NEW:
You'll notice the blade is whole, not just repaired. Nimue, who for obvious reasons, is not a fan of merlin or arthur... originally only repaired Excalibur's blade instead of healing it. The fractures remained as a check on its power.. kind of like a short circuit. Jim gets no such hobbling. He's entrusted with Excalibur's full power. And if Sakon will allow me to borrow again, his check is in the gem in his crown, but it's only temporary as he learns to control Excalibur's power, and his newfound station and abilities... just a bit of a reminder, but one he rarely, if ever, needs.
There is no incantation on the amulet. It's not needed anymore. All Jim needs to do is think it, and it's there. Excalibur is not tied to the amulet like Daylight was. He can use it without the armor, or dematerialize it if wanted. The armor has two forms, much like Daylight and Eclipse, the 2nd is only a thought away. Normally a steely blue grey, it can shift to black, and if Jim really leans into the power of Excalibur then the whole thing, from crown to blade, turns pitch and lights up. There's so much magic running through him from the sword that his eyes glow with it.
Tumblr media
Someone on IG asked if the Dark/Feral bits denoted corruption or Jim gone rogue. The Dark just denotes the color change for Excalibur. No corruption! It's just rockin the black instead of gold. As for feral.... in the sense that he's a tad more aggressive, more willing to finish the fight so to speak. He's got a little wildness, a little otherworldly magic, to him (not in the sense that he's a wizard, just that he's got the magic of Excalibur and being goddess touched).
Now, for the DTIYS!
Rules are
Draw it in your style!
Please no tracing, I want to see what you come up with
Use #DarkExcaliburDTIYS when you post!
Tag me and I will share
Please out a copy of my original art in your post
This will run until June 1
I will pick my top 3 across all platforms
There will be prizes, I just have no clue what lol.
I will link a folder filled with references for you to use! From the armor, to color keys (whenever tumblr lets me paste the stupid link 😡
Have fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!

day 6; sword and shield; Troll Jim now has the forest amulet thanks to the improvement and repair of the amulet by Nari, Douxie and Archie, although Blinky did not agree that they will modify the amulet but the others did approve, the sword has been improved and is magical and powerful now. What is the Excalibur since the only ones who can push it are troll Jim and troll Arthur, the mirror shield has been improved since the warrior shield has had 2 changes, for the death rock that has a bit of the power of Draal's calamity and repair, the armor is now the forest armor with great defense and magic, it can even adapt to any place

Hi! Here's an interesting or slight angsty ask.
What if Barabra was chosen as the Trollhunter when Jim went back in time, but she and Strickler both regained their memories when she picked up the amulet?
So, much like in the canon, Jim planned for Toby to pick up the amulet, but the thing is that by the point Toby goes under the bridge - there is nothing there (and Toby thinks that Jim has pranked him or something).
The thing is, that instead of having a healthy nap after the night shift, Barbara wakes up and decides to drive to buy some groceries while Jim is at school. Her car mysteriously breaks down when she is crossing the bridge and when Barbara is out, she hears the voice calling for her.
When Barbara picks up the amulet, she gets a surge of memories from the different timeline. The same simultaneously happens to Strickler (who is lucky not to have any lessons at the moment, because that's too much to process even for him).
The thing is that neither Barbara nor Strickler has any idea that Jim has time-traveled (Barbara wasn't there and Strickler was, well, dead by this point). Both believe it to be some kind of miracle and that they are the only person who knows about the possible future.
Barbara's plan is to shield Jim from all the painful experiences while keeping all the pleasant things that came from trollhunting for him (like his bonds with trolls). She also plans to talk Walter into switching sides as soon as possible.
Strickler, on the other hand, plans to assist Jim (who he thinks is still the Trollhunter) from the shadows, working as a double agent. He genuinely believes that everything should be the same as in his memories, so he waits for anxious Jim coming to get his advice - only to get Jim who obviously tries to set his first meeting with Barbara (not that Strickler minds, but still it's highly suspicious). So Strickler starts to suspect that Jim knows too, which would perfectly explain everything.
Strickler still goes to meet Barbara - and learns that she's both the new Trollhunter and remembers everything. Together they start to plan how to reach a happy future for everyone. Strickler also reveals his suspicions about Jim.
Meanwhile, Jim discovers that Toby hasn't picked the amulet and panics as he has no idea who is the new champion. He goes home only to encounter both his mom and Strickler who want to hear the truth from him. There is no point in denying the obvious, so Jim tells everything about the time travel. He hopes that Barbara will let him help her (after all she knows that he is capable), but she is deadset that her son should take it easy this time.
Jim is rather upset to be sidelined as even without the amulet he still has his knowledge and battle experience. Barbara isn't convinced - until Jim comes to help during her escape from Bular and accidentally summons his armor from the future (apparently both new amulet and Excalibur time-traveled together with him).
Barbara finally realizes that Jim's calling doesn't bring him suffering only and apologizes to Jim.
Jim decides to start assembling the old team. He brings Toby first, then Claire (once they are on friendly terms), then approaches Douxie and introduces him to Claire. Douxie tells Claire about magic and starts teaching her.
Meanwhile, Strickler works as a double agent, preventing many troubles that could possibly happen to the trollhunters (including not switching Enrique with NotEnrique - he simply brings him to Arcadia as an assistant). Even though he tries to be discreet, other Janus Order members and even Bular start to suspect him. Strickler manages to escape accusations for a while (insisting on staying an insider even though Barbara tells him to get away asap). He manages to recruit Nomura and NotEnrique too. However, his luck isn't unlimited, so Strickler ends up captured, and other changelings propose using him as a hostage to lure Barbara.
The team frees Strickler, but much like in the canon, Killahead is still open. Strickler risks to close it and ends up trapped in the Darklands.
Unlike Jim, Barbara spares Bular, believing that he can get a chance at redemption. Bular now lives in the basement.
Otto unseals Angor Rot, but unlike Strickler, who eventually switches to his own goals, he is scared to betray Gunmar and uses Angor to get the amulet and recover Killahead fragments. Otto also contacts Usurna and makes an alliance with her.
Barbara is deadset on going to the Darklands and saving Strickler. Jim thinks that recovering triumbric stones should be easier this time (as they know their locations) until he remembers that Strickler gave him the last one and currently he's in the Darklands. Douxie and Claire try some search magic together, locating that one hidden in the Janus Order headquarters.
Jim decides to make a deal with Angor - to help him get free in exchange for his cooperation. After all, he knows how to use Kairosect now (and they recovered it just in case). Angor steals the triumbric stone, and Jim gets Inferna Copula.
The entire team travels into the Darklands - and discovers that Gunmar has control over Strickler's mind. It's the distraction that gives Gunmar the opportunity to escape the Darklands together with his army and march right into the Trollmarket.
Barbara is deadset on liberating Strickler (and surprisingly gets the most vocal supporter in the form of Angor Rot). Jim is also on her side, and he remembers how Draal was freed from the control in the old timeline. As much as both he and Barbara hate the idea, it seems that they need to lure Gunmar together with Strickler to Merlin's Tomb (though, Barbara doesn't intend to let Merlin ruin anyone's life this time).
There's also the situation with Morgana as in this timeline she has no chance to possess Claire, and Jim remembers that in the past she used to be kind, so he wonders if he can convince Morgana to come back to the good side (even though she has to atone for all the evil she caused).
As for Bular, he is the most conflicted as living with Barbara and Jim taught him a lot about humans, making him reconsider his old ways. Bular hopes to convince his father to stop the war and live peacefully, so he heads to the Trollmarket in secret from the team. Obviously, Gunmar isn't interested in listening to his son and is enraged. He imprisons Bular, giving him the last chance to change his mind.
Meanwhile, Morgana contacts Gunmar through the changelings, proposing an alliance once again. Gunmar goes to search Merlin's staff, unaware that he actually acts the way that Team Trollhunters want.
Strickler is finally free, but both Barbara and Jim underestimate Gunmar, and he gets away with Merlin's staff. Besides, this time Gunmar still hasn't killed off the Janus Order, so he has no obstacles in freeing Morgana.
Merlin, who wakes up, has a lot of information to process (starting with Barbara as the Trollhunter and ending with the second amulet from a different timeline). He isn't happy with the time meddling though as he believes that it may lead to disastrous results. Not that Barbara, Jim, or Strickler is listening to him.
Jim seeks Angor's assistance and they go to meet with freed Morgana. Initially, she is hostile, but Jim shows her Excalibur and asks if she has given up on humans entirely. Morgana agrees to give Jim a chance to demonstrate that a different solution can also work.
Morgana breaks her alliance with Gunmar and helps her changelings to escape. She also frees Bular.
Without Morgana's support, Gunmar loses the fight with Team Trollhunters. Morgana also liberates all the trolls who fell under Decimaar's control (Angor decides to give her a chance after that, even if he is far from fully forgiving her).
Morgana doesn't become a full ally as her relationship with Merlin is extremely complicated, but she agrees to assist Jim and Barbara and show some magic to Claire.
As the fight was at the Trollmarket, Arcadia is still mostly unaware of trolls or magic. Besides, despite some ruination, there is no need to travel to New Jersey.
However, it also means that the Arcane Order can attack while the team is in Arcadia.
Jim goes to meet with Aja and Krel, forming an alliance with them and telling them about the time travel stuff. He promises to help to deal with Morando and asks them both to help with defending Arcadia.
Green Knight attacks earlier than in the first timeline. He targets Merlin, who barely manages to escape. Meanwhile, Bellroc tries to recruit Morando (without any success), and Skrael contacts Morgana, reminding her that she's still the Arcane Order's champion (she also refuses to cooperate).
The Arcane Order attacks while everyone is distracted because of Morando. They capture both Nari and Merlin (the latter to get the location of Genesis seals from him).
Jim is conflicted about whether he should tell everyone about Green Knight's true identity (especially Morgana) but ends up deciding against hiding the truth. As he suspected, Morgana doesn't take it well as she wants to reach out to her brother once again even though Jim tells her she failed in the first timeline.
Morgana encounters the Green Knight, but much like Jim has warned her, her words fail to reach her brother. Morgana is injured by the obsidian shard but manages to escape.
The Arcane Order tries to get the information about the Genesis seals from Merlin's mind, but it's something he actually predicted so they fail to get anything from him, despite all the measures used.
The team makes a plan to save Nari and Merlin. Jim has a clash with Arthur. Two Excaliburs is the time paradox, but it turns out that Jim's is the more powerful one as it is powered by rightful ideas. Arthur's Excalibur shatters and Arthur perishes.
Douxie saves Merlin and Merlin finally admits that he has lost his way fighting against the Arcane Order. Merlin decides to seal Bellroc and Skrael with the cost of his life this time, finally stopping to sacrifice everyone else and putting his own life on the line. However, his own magic seems not to be enough. Douxie is willing to join his master, but Morgana, who arrives just in time stops him (as she believes Douxie still has much to do for the new world) and joins Merlin in sealing instead. The seal takes all of their magic and life force.
It's not a permanent measure though. Nari tells everyone that Bellroc and Skrael simply don't believe that peace between different kinds is possible, so they decide to build a happier world while the seal is still intact.

Jimtober 2023 9.King
The police cordon had broken a while ago. Jim stood next to the pile of rubble where the sword glinted in the moonlight, mocking him. That was the only thing left there, since the ruins of Camelot had been vaporized (Douxie had no intention of rebuilding it nor making it a local attraction).
Excalibur. King Arthur’s sword. It was a weird sword indeed, too flamboyant for his taste, with gold accents and that huge green gem that reminded him of Merlin.
He had tried to extract it from the stone a couple of times, with no avail. And, since then, he had been thinking. As he made up for the lost time with his Mom, as he enjoyed his days in the sun with his friends, as he tended to his wounds and new scars every morning and every night.
He was no king. He was no ruler. He was a protector. Douxie was not the next Merlin, he was too kind-hearted for that. Claire wasn’t the next Morgana… like, come on. And he was sure he wasn’t the next King Arthur.
There was a reason he had spent the last nights observing the pieces of his broken Amulet. He wanted to be the Trollhunter. He was the Trollhunter.
Nobody had asked him about what he wanted to do.  They were just resting until a new threat peeked its ugly head. But somehow, he was feeling as if time was running out again. He had to decide.
No. That sword wasn’t for him. He was going to ask Douxie and Krel to fix his Amulet. He was sure they could do it. For he was no ruler. He was no king.
