Luffy -

He thought you were just making up words and started copying you.

Once you explain that you're speaking a different language, maybe a native language or one you've learned, he's so impressed. Luffy's not really good with words and knowing that you know like twice as much as him is awesome.

I hc that there are accents in the OP world too and I love the hc that Luffy has a very different way of speaking than the others. I think it's adorable.

Zoro -

What. Huh? He's so confused.

Where did this come from and why has he just noticed? Zoro can be a bit of a dud when it comes to noticing some things and so it took him a minute to process. But in the end he's ultimately pretty fascinated by it. He likes the way you talk even if he can't understand you.

Sanji -

Heart burst. He's swooning like he usually does but he's also very curious. Sanji might sit with you and ask questions or have you teach him a few phrases. Maybe teach him words for food or complements he'll love that.

Nami -

Full focus on you, tell her more. She won't understand but she's listening. Nami kind of just stares at you as you speak and admires your voice, she'll absentmindedly mouth some of the easier words. It's so cute, but she thinks you're cute too.

She will make you teach her insults to give to rude creeps she comes across.

Usopp -

"Write that down, write that down!"

He's taking notes because this is so new to him, he wants to learn more. When did you learn? What part of the world does your language come from? Endless questions and endless appreciation, he's just happy to listen and ask.

Robin -

Robin knows at least one or two languages aside from being able to read the Poneglyphs, mainly because she's well travelled and had to adapt. But your language is new to her and she's very interested. What are the origins of the language, who spoke it and what does it look like in written form?

She'll ask you to teach her a little bit, she's a sponge for knowledge.

Franky -

No idea what's going on but he's happy to be along for the ride. He'll hear you say random words or sentences in your language and even if he doesn't understand he'll still say "that's super".

Brook -

A bilingual man, can't tell me otherwise. Your language is new to him and though he doesn't study languages, he'll have you exchange words he knows for ones you can teach him. Enjoy long conversations about it over tea and biscuits.

And no, no matter what he says don't teach him the word for panties.

Jinbe -

Another bilingual and he'll bond with you over that. The language he knows was one commonly used in the fishman district but was forcibly forgotten by regular merfolk because of oppression and the WG. He likes to keep it alive when he can and he'll appreciate it if you share your knowledge between eachother.

Law -

In my hc Flevance had it's own dialect which he sometimes still falls into the habit of. Law appreciates your language and finds it very soothing to listen to you talk or sing if you do. It's quite charming.

Kid -

He will yell at you at first to stop babbling and making things up until you explain that it's your language. If he likes you enough he'll apologise and let you continue. At first he's acting like he doesn't care but the more he listens to you the more he warms up to the sound. So if you randomly stop talking he'll zip around and say "Why'd you stop? Keep talking".

Killer -

Pretty neutral about this, and he compliments you on it. He thinks it could be useful in the future if you need to communicate with people. Killer likes it when you talk to yourself in little mumbles in your language, it's hard not to chuckle and look at you.

~sanji felt terrible after being angry with you. he felt so lost and panicked, unsure of what to say and how to apologize. it’s been a couple of hours before he approached you with much caution, bent down to your curled up figure, and asked for your forgiveness. you mumbled a small apology as well which made him sigh with relief. you glanced up at him with wet eyes and smiled softly, thankful that he had come to reconcile.

“you’re everything to me.”

~crocodile raised his voice and saw your figure start to tremble. you started sobbing, thin streams of tears rolling down your cheeks as you walked away from him. he furrowed his eyebrows and hated himself so much for making you cry. it was the worse thing he could’ve done. he hates making his angelic and beautiful lover cry. he grabs you with his hand before you could walk out the door and mutters a small apology. you tell him that you’re still upset with him, but he responds with a chuckle, telling you that he will somehow make up for it and do whatever you desire.

~arguments between you and kidd were frequent, yet always over something trivial. however, this argument was serious and he had truly hurt your feelings. he had yelled things you never imagined he ever would and it completely broke you. you dashed off the ship and ran as far as your legs could take you. your heart hurt so much that your chest started burning with the wish that your worst fear hadn’t come true. but unfortunately it had. eustass kidd broke your heart within mere seconds which ironically was the same amount of time that you had fallen deeply in love with him. 

“this is breaking my heart.”

trafalgar law ♡

~even after everything he has been through, law was a pretty stable man. however, after you entered his life, you had become his everything. of course, he has his other priorities, but you had infiltrated his heart and his mind, so when a heated argument ends with you walking out the door he became desperate. he frantically runs towards you and apologizes, tears on the verge of leaving his wet eyes. he loathes every second of that argument and forgets all of the fury that once filled him, desperately asking you to stay. 

“if you walk away, everything will fall apart.”

charlotte perospero ♡

~perospero was a prideful man and his pride definitely took a part in your arguments with him. you felt as if your husband wasn’t trying hard enough to stay with you or understand you. you tried so hard to get through the walls of pride that stood in his heart, yet they never faltered. after one argument, you simply broke down and couldn’t handle his behavior anymore. if he wouldn’t try neither would you, and you had given up out of exhaustion and a broken heart.

Law -

Respectful and expecting respect

Congratulations you've soothed his constant headache by just listening to him. Now he'll make sure you're present whenever he's making a plan.

Following orders and trusting what he says is something he really likes, because it shows some loyalty but also that you trust him. To think that you would makes him feel things. But also respecting him as a captain, whether he's your own or you're on an allied crew.

But Law also likes someone that's not gonna let people walk all over them. Sticking to what you believe, giving your own thoughts and sharing your concerns is important to him. Being brave enough to have a voice is very admirable.

Having a soft spot

Law's not soft, or at least he likes to pretend he isn't or doesn't care. He's said it before that he thinks pirates helping people is against their nature, but he's like a walking contradiction.

However, seeing you do it without fear of what people will say, makes him smile. Having a soft spot, particularly for kids or the sick, is what makes you human. Be aware though that this man might accidentally start putting you on a pedestal for it so try and pull him away from that idolising tendency.

Kid -

Being strong

No doubt about it this man won't settle for someone he considers a worm. You've got to be strong, but that can be in a few different ways.

Physical strength is something he'll notice immediately, and though it invokes the need to fight in him he also finds it very attractive. Being proud of yourself and your body, unashamed by your strength or power. He does it too, it only makes sense you'd match.

A strong will however, is something he'll start to appreciate later. Not letting yourself get bossed around or bullied, standing for what you think is right and kicking the ass of people who try to change that... Wow, he didn't even realise how much he could like that before. If I'm being honest, this probably makes him like you more than physical strength.

Letting loose and having fun

If you're a snooze, he's already out the door. You've got to be interesting at least, and one thing that makes you interesting is matching his need to party and drink. You're not afraid to match him drink for drink or gamble.

It's that you don't care about who's looking at you that makes him feel good, you're like him in that sense. You're going to live how you want to live and enjoy yourself doing it.

Killer -

Not being nosey

You know what you need to and you don't pry unless you have to. You're not pushing him to talk to you or others for things, you stick to your own business.

This also applies with his appearance. He likes that you aren't trying to get to know him because you want to see his face you're doing it because you can. His face doesn't matter and it's not your business and you know that, he appreciates it a lot.

Contrast from the everyday

Where his life is busy, loud and full of violence, you offer a peaceful contrast. He's not a kind or gentle person, he knows that and he won't change it not even for you, but he likes that you compliment him. Opposites attract, yet you don't judge.

You'll continue to be your sweet self to him, care for his injuries and make him food or drinks. He'll never admit it but he likes that you dote on him, keep doing it. His violence doesn't scare you because you know he's not going to do anything to you, as cheesy as that sounds.

Perona -

Being creative/making things

She loves a creative, being one herself in her own way. I like to imagine she's a skilled seamstress as well as making her plushies, you're adding to her arsenal of cute things by making stuff yourself. Make her paintings, baked goods, pottery and you name it. She's just happy someone is paying attention to her and her interests too.

Make an effort to take her somewhere to do this stuff together or bake together, she's loving life if you to.

Don't treat her like a child

Most people don't want this anyway, but it's here specifically. She's not dumb, she's not weak and she certainly doesn't need a babysitter. It's true that she can be a brat but act about it in an adult way and listen to her, she thrives when people are actually hearing her instead of sticking a polkadot plaster on the wound.

If you treat her this way, she'll start trying to act better too. She knows she can take a lot of effort, but she also knows she's worth it. If you put care and consideration towards her she'll acknowledge that and she loves that.

Coby -

Be his equal

This is kind of like the respect yourself and himself type of thing. Coby wants someone who's on equal footing with him, doesn't have to be physically but mentally is most important. Being fair, being mature and being caring is what's for him.

He wants you to know that you're worth it, and in turn that he's woty it too because he struggles to see it sometimes. Remind each other just how important you both are, it's like teamwork.

Trusting him

He can do his job well and come back alive, so can you. So trust him when he's no a difficult mission that he'll come back. And in times where things are confusing and the world is so hard to read now, trust his judgement.

This applies to his relationship with the strawhats, you trust him that they aren't so bad because he's met them and he knows Luffy. He appreciates that you believe him and his quiet little fan boy moments when reading the latest newspaper.

Smoker -

Being professional

Doesn't have to be all the time, but the ability to switch from your private life to your marine life is a big deal for him. You can still joke and tease lightly, but he's not big on PDA and he won't like it much if you try anything near his crew or bosses.

But as soon as you're in a place of comfort or home, he's all yours.

Care about him

Don't worry every day and night, but when you see him and he looks tense or stressed at least try and alleviate it. Run him a bath or get him a nice tub of hot water for his feet. He also really appreciates drinks and food at times like this, having warm food or tea after a long mission makes things much better. Seeing you care for him makes him blush, and he blushes easily so keep going.

But also checking in on him mentally is important. His mental health needs care too, and it can be soothed just by having a nice conversation with him and menial daily tasks to distract him from work. In private he actually likes the few jokes and bits or sarcasm you give him.

Okaaayy ik this is a small post but I'm not good at writing some characters but I'll try, for example a lot of marines. I'm doing a separate post to this for Whitebeard and Roger pirates, probably adding Red haired pirates and Revs too.

The Worst Generation was never as developed as I would’ve liked. Don’t get me wrong individually they’re great but the collective group never felt like it was anything. Blackbeard was just kinda thrown in there for no reason like he wasn’t even there. Urouge has still yet to do anything. And why is Scratchmen fucking Apoo still alive? Right now the only people still in the running for the one piece is Bonney, Bege, Urouge, and Apoo. Bonney’s going through her own shit right now, Apoo’s weak as shit, and Bege’s got a family. So? I don’t really see the point of grouping these people together.
