Jane Prentiss has her worms. She is a home. She is fully consumed by what loves her. Do the spiders serve both Web and Corruption or are they the exception and work double time. What is the song of the webs like.

Note
Do you know what the worms in Prentiss actually are? I don't know if anyone has talked about this.
Because they aren't your usual weird worms from the ground, no-o. White with a black tip, they are wasp larva.
Which took me until a tumblr post pointed it out because it was so weird that she talked about a wasps nest but she herself wasn't surrounded by the flying yellow ones.
Imagine if she had enough nesting time for the next stage in their development to emerge 😳

Okay, so the "Flesh Hive" and the spiders aren't the same thing and the Hive apparently has some sort of hypnotic abilities which effects at least some of their victims.
I can assume that the spiders are still antagonistic to some extent but now I wonder, are the spiders and Hive enemies?

So I made my own voice recording of the Hive episode, and even though I can hear my dogs making noise in the background, I can’t stop listening to it. 😅
If anyone wants to hear it, I’ll post it later.

From June 9, 2019 to September 23, 2023 I posted something new to my Ao3 account at least once a week, every week (allowing for some deviation between weekend/weekday posting in the early days). From January 25, 2020, I’ve had an update every single Saturday. In total, this has amounted to 219 weeks of content, 299 individual updates, and 204 unique stories (approximately - I think I miscounted somewhere in there).
4 years, 3 months of weekly posting. 3 years, 8 months of Saturday stories.
I’m very glad I’m taking a break, because finding time to post every Saturday has been getting difficult, but it still feels very weird to not be posting something today.
Anyway, I’m very proud of how much I’ve created over the last few years, so I wanted to do a bit of a statistics breakdown because I’m a sucker for hard data:
Per Ao3 sorting here, I’ve posted… 209 stories. Yeah I definitely miscounted. Anyway.
Fandoms:
203 for The Magnus Archives
2 for Discworld
2 for Good Omens TV
1 for Good Omens Book
1 for Skulduggery Pleasant
1 for Malevolent (which was a TMA crossover lol)
A bunch of other fandoms got dragged into the stats because of Vinettes, but I only added TMA stories to that one in the last 4 years.
Of the 203 TMA stories, 6 are multi-chapter longfics, including Yesterday is Here - which kicked off the Saturday posting, and remains my most popular story to date.
Wordcount:
Approximately 819,000.
Which equals about 530 words written per day.
My average story length was about 3,919 words.
If you take the 6 longfics out of that math, the average drops down to 2,623.
2020 had the highest per-year wordcount, at 236,485.
The highest wordcount for a single story was 57,758 for A Matter of Diplomacy.
The lowest wordcount was only 215 for Best Wishes.
You could fit 268.6 Best Wishes into 1 AMoD.
Random:
40 of the oneshots were posted as direct, week-of reactions to TMA S5 episodes, encompassing 19.14% of the total fics.
30 of the oneshots were for the Castaways series, for 14.35% of the total fics.
The 203 TMA fics are 97.13% of the total.
Jonathan "Jon" Sims | The Archivist was in slightly more stories (189) than Martin Blackwood (186), but significantly more stories than the next-most common characters, Tim Stoker (32) and Sasha James (26).
Martin Blackwood/Jonathan "Jon" Sims | The Archivist was, unsurprisingly, the most common relationship, at 94.26% of the total (197 fics).
My ten most common tags were, in order: Episode Related (65), Fluff (53), Post-Canon (42), Short (41), Post-Episode: e200 Last Words (39), Location: Somewhere Else (29), Canon Asexual Character (27), Season/Series 01 (22), First Kiss (19), and Happy Ending (14), which says a lot about the type of story I like to write and also that I really like tagging when and where things are set.
Jon was still just ‘Jonathan Sims’ when I started this…
‘Jonathan "Jon" Sims | The Archivist’ arrived on the scene in May 2020, so 149 (78.84%) of the Jon stories have the long tag, and 40 (21.16%) have the short.

PEOPLE ARE TALKING ABOUT THE CORRUPTION AND METAPHORS TO ABUSIVE/TOXIC RELATIONSHIPS AND UNHEALTHY COPING MECHANISMS?
Oooooh boy, this is one of my favourite topics :D allow me to ramble (i mean, you can't stop me, all you can do is just not post this ask)
MAG 6 - Squirm: The Corruption keeps Harriet from getting help, is captivating to Timothy Hodge.
MAG 22 - Colony: A bit of a reach, but Martin's tendency to "set himself on fire to keep others warm" is why he ended up drawing the attention of Jane Prentiss, who in turn forced him to be alone for 13 days -- and we know self isolation is a common unhealthy tendency of Martin's
MAG 32 - Hive: Jane's knowledge that the hive is hurting her, yet feeling called by it; skin picking is a maladaptive coping mechanism and can also be a sign of ocd, etc; Jane being called "toxic" by her friends, isolation leading to unhealthy relationships/coping mechanisms/whatever the metaphor for the hive is today.
MAG 84 - Possessive: Maggie & Gordie as an unhealthy mother-son relationship? Becoming like those who hurt you, cycle of violence but rotting?
MAG 93 - Containment: Greg's cleaning compulsion is implied to be because of OCD and gets worse after his wife and daughter's death. Maladapitive coping mechanism?
MAG 102 - Nesting Instinct: The beetle took advantage of Benoit's loneliness and desperation for companionship, unhealthy relationships.
MAG 153 - Love Bombing: Cult manipulation tactics are portrayed in this episode, as far as I know, quite accurate to real life. Preying on the lonely and vulnerable, making them feel affection and connection, then yk. the bad stuff happens.
All this to say if you love The Corruption TMA and don't mind seeing gore and a sex scene, you should watch Midsommar. I did with my friend a bit ago and it was really good. The cinematography was phenomenal, so was the story, still in awe of it.
But on the tma topic, the Corruption TMA is really cool and I love talking about The Magnus Archives and the subtext and the analogies and it's like oooooh.

Ah don’t mind me, just another lil rant about the silly lil podcast show…
[an excerpt from a message I sent over discord]
You know I’ve been thinking. The Magnus Archives. The “fears” and “entities”.
I’m unsure why or how these entities [exist] but my theory is that they are manifested over time/intensity. With enough people [feeling] afraid, this sorta,,, energy manifests into its own being. Almost like a god of our own creation.
[A cage we build ourselves in?]
However that being said, why only fears?
[Why are only the fears being manifested into dangerous forces?]
"Newton’s third law for every action (force) in nature there is an equal and opposite reaction."
If there is fear made manifest then there should also be hope manifested. A way to counteract the negative with the warmth of positive. Like I get it, this is a horror podcast taking place in London. This is the least optimistic setting ever.
But am I really stupid for holding out hope? Pointing out a way to counteract these destructive forces?
For example, the opposite to Distortion is Clarity. The opposite to Lonely is Community. Even if there aren’t entities of positivity, we can make it up inside ourselves, methinks.
The fears seem relentless. Extremely unforgiving. And I understand that the entities are indifferent at best. But I just hrnrmejdmm.
I feel silly being so stubborn against [the idea that] disparity is the only thing available.
[May I have some reassurance?]
Additional thoughts...
If anti-entities exists, then they go unnoticed. Love is quiet and undemanding. It goes unnoticed until it is gone. Until we notice something is wrong, that is when fear comes in. Fear is a very very powerful thing. It is also very very hard to overcome. Especially in these instances where people are at the mercy of merciless beings. It's heartbreaking to realize there can be no way out of a terrible situation. You just gotta,, accept it all. Accept that perhaps you're wrong, perhaps you're going to die, perhaps the things you face in life can (and will) change you forever. Tragedy is inevitable but what you do with it next is what matters. Methinks.
Humanity is filled with fear, love, but most importantly resilience.
These three things are built into the core of all living beings. To focus only on what is terrible is an insult to all the good that goes around.
(This deffo can go the other way around too. I mean, when you got a monster chasing you, you can't just turn around and go,
"Awh man how abwout we all wuv eachothwer? QwQ."
You're gonna fricken die if you do that...most likely.....Just,,, don't risk it.)
So yeah, perhaps I am going to die. But I'm going to go out of this world the same way I came in: Kicking and screaming.
The fears are relentless. The fears are resilient. And guess what? So are we. After all, the entities did (theoretically?) come from us. It's only natural the supernatural is an exaggerated reflection of reality.
Sometimes you gotta fight back with the power of friendship...and blunt force damage. And guns. Or arson...
I might be getting off track. Haha.
Points brought up and tied together...
"I’m unsure why or how these entities [exist] but my theory is that they are manifested over time/intensity."
"Love is quiet and undemanding."
"Fear is a very very powerful thing."
People are naturally going to pay attention to the negative. Tis a survival response! The reason these entities may be prevalent is because humanity as a whole focuses on the negative.
The Magnus Institute is where people go to have their negative (and straight up weird experiences) to be collected. So if the victims of the entities are coming to the institute, then the entities and avatars themselves are bound to come to the institute too! It's like Mentos in a coke bottle of bad vibes. It's gonna explode. (Omg if this turns out to be a literal explosion happening in the archive I am going to flip my lid.) ((Context the last episode I’ve listened to is uhhhh episode 32???)) The bad things recorded seem to be the only things happening because that is where our attention is focused on. There isn't much reason to collect information from people who have had good times and miracles happening. (From a listener standpoint, not exactly the most entertaining or spooky thing to listen to. If I want to hear that then I'd go to church or talk to Facebook moms.) OKOK THE POINT!!!
The reason why "anti-entities" may or may not exist is either because:
The cumulative love of humanity isn't enough to manifest as strong as an entity derived from fear.
OR
The (potential/theoretical) entities here to help people go unnoticed due to not being focused on. It doesn't go out of its way recruiting people to do their bidding because that's just not how they function. Edit: I have part 2 of my think thoughts [HERE]. I wanted to let you know in case people are wanting to know more about my good ol thinky inky thoughts.

MAG 32 my beloved, "That I can be fully consumed by what loves me" is one of my favourite lines of the show and jonny's delivery of this whole episode is just fantastic
Fully agree with you. So much of this episode leaves me with an intense feeling of uncomfortable fascination, it's so well done
