rant kinda longish
I should've spent so much more time discovering what I like / wanted to get a career in when I was in high school.
I've always naturally gravitated towards computers and that's fine, they're cool. I can see myself getting a job involving them. But I really fucked up when I decided my major was going to be Information Assurance & Cyber Defense.
Nothing like the typical computer type stuff I'm used to and enjoy. The past 4 years have just been hell. So much technical writing over topics we hardly cover. It's so boring and it just feels like a big long, stressful chore.
I've been interested in anime and manga since I was younger. My sister got me into Naruto when I was 5 but didn't start watching more and really getting interested until middle school.
I was never a classical "weeaboo." I never fantasized about being Japanese and never really took interest in their culture outside of anime. Like a casual anime viewer but.. not as casual. I'd still spend hours and days binge watching and reading series. It wasn't until about a month ago that I stumbled across some interview videos about Japan and some language videos that I got interested.
I grew up in a rural, countryside area in Michigan. I've been here all my life except the one semester just before COVID that I spent on campus at university. I was always kind of a hermit, partially due to my personality and another part due to my location, but after being exposed to city-life and other cultures and then having to go home back to boringness and learn online just made me really depressed.
It made me realize how much more there is out there. How different and unique each country is. The fact that there are billions of people I cannot interact or make friends with due to a language barrier.
I'm not sure why I wasn't more captivated by foreign culture in my adolescence, but it has piqued my curiosity and interest now. Naturally, it had me researching and looking at ways to visit other countries and spend some time living there. The easiest path would be to get a bachelor's degree in anything and teach English as a foreign language or become an assistant language teacher.
The more I think about the possibility of becoming an English teacher in another country, and while Japan isn't the coziest country for foreign teachers, the more I'm interested in potentially pursuing it as a career.
Many English speakers that do go on to do this end up quitting; I don't have the exact statistics but I think I heard somewhere that over 90% quit within the first 3 years. It also isn't a requirement to know any of the Country's language (it probably depends on the program you enter though).
There's probably a correlation between them not knowing the language / immersing themselves in the culture enough and the retention rate, but I don't actually know. I'd like to think it would be different if I were to become semi-fluent in a language before residing in their country.
Not really sure what I want to do. The fact you have to work to be alive is fucking dumb. Just let me travel the world and experience everything it has to offer.
My more realistic plan if this were to pan out would be to - move to Detroit and take in person Japanese classes where I have access to tutoring & a way to practice with others in person. Take TEFL (teaching English as a foreign language) classes and then eventually sign up for the JET program.
sorry about the rant. just a really long way of saying im bored of what im doing in college and i have so much more fun self-learning japanese, even though i still know absolutely nothing lol

A Survey For College/Uni Grads Survey by emptyspaces
What year did you graduate? 2020. It’s only been a little over a month, too.
What degree do you have? Journalism, but I might as well have had a minor in history because of the amount of history electives I took as well haha.
What classes did you take your first year? The first semester of my first year was purely for general courses, so I took basic courses on English, biology, math, philosophy, and Philippine history. By the second semester I took more basic courses on public speaking, physics, and social science, but by then I was already allowed to take two journalism majors.
Second year? My general courses included a basic course on art history, chemistry, English, Filipino, Asian history; my majors were on communication and media, news reporting, media law, media theory, journalism ethics, and an introductory course on broadcast communication.
Third year? The only general courses I had by this point were an intro to political science and a class on Philippine government and politics. I mostly took majors this year though, which wiped me the crap out: my majors were on media and society, feature writing, public relations, international relations, fact-checking, broadcast management, Southeast Asian history, and introductory courses on macroeconomics, film, psychology, and communication research.
Fourth year? I took up journalism design and layout, contemporary Philippine history, Philippine social history, pornography in media just because lol, an introductory course on anthropology, and I also got started on my thesis as well. My second and final semester got cancelled entirely because of the pandemic, but I would have finished units on business reporting, online journalism, community press, and the history of women in the Philippines.
Did it take you longer than four years to graduate? No. That would have disappointed my parents big time and considering how much effort they’ve put to send me to good schools, the least I could do was to graduate on time. Even if I wanted to shift out of my course, it would’ve led to a delay and I didn’t want that for them and I personally didn’t want that for myself either.
Did you start at 18, or did you have a gap year(s) after high school? Again, I didn’t want to take gap years for my parents’ sake. I immediately went to college right after graduating high school, like what the majority of students here do.
Was it a small or large college/university? Very large. The competition is even bigger – 100,000++ high school seniors take the entrance exam every year but they only take in around 10,000 passers. Still, 10,000 new students every school year is so many, and it’s always a bitch to get class slots because of our population.
Public or private? Public.
Is there anything the school is well-known for? All sorts of things. It’s one of the top schools in the country, so we hog the spotlight in the national news pretty much everyday. I think the biggest things we’re known for though is our reputation for research and our activism history. It also makes us a popular target of pro-government trolls.
What were some of your favorite classes? I loved taking up art studies and all of my political science and history electives, and as for my journalism electives I really only enjoyed public relations and that one class where we ran an online magazine for a whole semester.
What were some classes you hated? Fucking economics. And fact-checking. And the fact that I took both in the same period...got my lowest average for that semester because of those classes, too. I feel like I would have done better if my economics class didn’t have a population of 200 and if I had a more experienced professor fact-checking but shit happens, I guess. I also felt like my porn class was a waste because the readings were so pretentious. And of course, philosophy.
Did you have any super-long classes? Like 3 hours or longer? All majors in my college are 3 hours long. So classes like PR, journalism ethics, feature writing, business reporting, media law, communication theory, etc. all definitely took a big chunk of my weekdays.
Did you ever change your major? No. I had multiple conversations with myself to decide if I should, but aside from not wanting to get delayed I also accepted the fact that as much as I had grown to not like journalism as a practice, the technical skills taught in it were still going to be super useful in the industry I want to get into, which is communications and PR.
Did you do any internships? If so, where? I did. I interned at a PR agency last year but it was part of my requirements to complete my course, so it felt forced to an extent. I’m currently interning at another PR agency, but this time I’m out of school and it’s a personal choice of mine.
Did you ever take any online classes? If so, which ones? I only had one or two online class sessions at the beginning of the lockdown, but my school ultimately cancelled the semester altogether in consideration of disadvantaged students who may not have laptops of their own or wi-fi at home. In the end they just gave a grade of ‘P’ to everyone, which meant Pass.
Were textbooks expensive? I didn’t need to buy entire textbooks because my professors usually just took excerpts or chapters from certain relevant books and let us photocopy the pages, which costs a lot cheaper than having to buy books.
What other supplies besides books did you have to buy for your classes? Other than course readings I didn’t need to spend much. Journalism isn’t a material-heavy course like how film or broadcast communication is.
Were you in any clubs or student organizations? Yes. I was in a journalism org, our graduation committee, and was part of a student publication at one point. I also tried to join AIESEC but my schedule was so hectic at the time that I had to drop it.
Did you ever volunteer anywhere? I was a lecturer and facilitator for the journalism workshops that my org regularly held (and will probably continue to volunteer even as a grad, since I know they appreciate alumni lecturers lol), and one time I also volunteered to be an usher for Batch 2019′s graduation.
Were you on any sports teams? Nope. I liked playing table tennis, but I was never trained properly enough to make it to varsity.
Where was your favorite place to eat on campus? It depended on how much of a hurry I was in and how much I was willing to spend. The cheapest option was the network of kiosks scattered around campus which sold the same instant noodles and street food. If I wanted to reward myself but was on a tight budget, I went to Area 2 which is a residential street in campus that was also dotted with small food booths ran by the homeowners; if I had some money to spend and the time to stay in a sit-in restaurant I used to go to Chocolate Kiss.
Did you work while you were in college? I did not. I was lucky to be in a privileged position where my parents were able to provide for me and where I never had to worry about finances.
If so, where? How many hours per week?
How many times did you move throughout college? I didn’t. We lived in the same house the whole time I was in college.
Did you live on campus, in an apartment, or somewhere else? I lived at home and I just drove to and from school everyday, since the campus was near-ish enough for me not to avail of a dorm or condo.
Did you live with roommates? Alone? With a significant other? I lived with my family, but tbh it was mostly my mom and brother at home since my sister stays at a dorm and my dad works abroad.
If off-campus, how much was your rent? Never had to pay any.
How often did you go back to visit your parents? I went home to my mom every night lol, unless I had a sleepover at someone else’s place.
Did your parents help you out with living costs? Sure did. Nothing changed with my living arrangements and I still lived under their roof.
Did your parents (or someone else) pay for your tuition? They paid for the first two semesters; then by my sophomore year the government passed an act implementing free tuition for all state universities so since then they never had to pay a cent for my education.
Was it an expensive school? Not at all, which is why the competition to get in is so fierce. To illustrate, four years in my school is just equivalent to one semester in my sister’s college. Last time I checked one unit is ₱1500 or roughly $30.
If you paid for it, do you still have student loans you're paying off? I don’t have student loans. Idk if that’s a thing here, actually. I don’t think it is.
How many people did you date throughout college? One.
What was your longest relationship while in college? The whole four years. I was in the same relationship when I started and ended.
Were you in a sorority/fraternity? Fuck no.
Were you into partying? Just occasionally. I wasn’t a wild partier but I did go to a few college parties every now and then, and I certainly went to nearby bars nearly every Friday.
Where did you and your friends usually hang out? Along Katip, since there were enough places there to hang out in. Occasionally we’d go to Maginhawa, but I prefer it a lot less because the parking there sucks balls.
What did you and your friends do for fun? Drink, eat, play games.
Do you still keep in touch with any college friends? Very much. I support those who remain in the org, and I occasionally catch up with those who had already graduated.
Did any of them graduate with the same degree as you? Most of them did. It’s how I met them.
What did you do after you graduated? I rested for a bit but an existential crisis quickly came over and now I’m in a bit of a mental slump, but at least I’ve scored this internship to keep me occupied.
How was the pay at your first job out of college? The company I’m currently interning for objectively pays well, but they acquired me as an intern because they aren’t offering full-time positions for now. That said, I get an allowance rather than a salary so it isn’t much at all, but I’m still happy to be in the company because it’s supposed to be one of the top agencies in the country.
What classes prepared you the most for your career? PR, feature writing, public speaking, news reporting, online journalism...and tbh org work.
- Five favorite memories from your college days -
1: UP vs DLSU basketball game from September last year HAAAAAA
2: Attending my organization’s orientation and encountering them for the first time, not knowing I was going to bloom so much there and gain my closest friends
3: High Def 2018 and 2019
4: Drinking at VSpot with Angela, Hans, Gabie, and whoever else from their Ateneo gang that also got invited
5: TK with orgmates

15 Questions 15 Mutuals
Tagged by @sunshinerami thank you!!!
Also apologies to all these got long because I’ve been feeling talkative lately.
Are you named after anyone?
My grandfather's middle name and my aunt’s middle name is Lee, and I chose it, so I named myself after them technically. Part of why I wanted Lee in particular as my name-my history with my family is complicated, but I like having the connection nonetheless. Also Lee Pace is a wonderful actor, and liking him and his work was part of what made me consider Lee as my new first name.
When was the last time you cried?
Sunday night. Had a breakdown about life, the state of things, various other issues, and then just crying because...idk. Sometimes the depression just goes Crying Time! and I am useless to do much other than obey.
Do you have kids?
No, and as of the last year I've become absolutely certain I don't want them. Pregnancy terrifies me, I'm still working to unlearn the abusive shit my mother continues to heap on me, and what sort of world would I be bringing a child into right now? At my core, I don't think I'd be a good parent, so my goal is not to have kids. Let the folks who want them and are capable of raising them do that. If my friends with kids want me to take them for the afternoon, be the babysitter/fun uncle who buys them a toy and ice cream, become the person they can call to pick them up when they do stupid shit as a teen that makes them too scared to call their parents for help (though the parents are gonna find out, I’ll just get them out of the bad situation first), that all I can and will happily do. But I don’t think I could ever have kids of my own.
Do you use sarcasm a lot?
Despite my ASD, sarcasm  and humor in general are something I don’t struggle with too much and use quite a bit. To be honest, it’s definitely in part a defense mechanism along with making jokes about the rough shit in my life. But it works, and sometimes I even make people laugh, which is nice.
What's the first thing you notice about people?
I had to think about this during work because I hadn’t really considered it, and when I focused I found that the thing I tend to notice first, weirdly enough is gait. I think it’s because I’m used to watching my mum after her major ankle injury, and knowing to help her out more and be extra nice on days she’s limping. It makes me wonder what I noticed about people before this point in time though, because for some reason I just never thought about it lol.
Scary movie or happy ending?
I like both; it varies by day as to which I want. I also think you can have a happy ending to a scary movie, and that a happy ending can be the most horrific thing if it comes at the expense of others, or hurts others.
Any special talents?
I don’t know if this counts because my psychologist and I figure this has to do with my ASD, but I’m really good at memorizing lyrics. Like, I can have my own little radio station playing all day in my head, and if you ask me to I can sing a song in full with no mistakes, or can write out the full lyrics easy as anything. As to how well I can sing it depends on the song (I can sing soprano if I have to because my high school choir teacher did give me a bit of operatic training since he’d thought I sounded good doing it, but my diaphragm really prefers me to stay in alto or tenor ranges lol) but like...they just stick in my head. I can hate the song, but if I’ve heard it once then It Is In There, and if I want to forget it I have to focus on doing that really hard. Makes me wish I sang better, honestly. Might even be a useful talent then.
Where were you born?
Somewhere near Oceanside, CA, outside of the Marine Corps base there. Per my mum, we lived on-base, but the base hospital was shit so she insisted on being taken to the nearest city. I think Oceanside is what’s on my birth certificate at least.
What are your hobbies?
Writing is also my job, but I think it technically also counts as a hobby. Reading and drawing are on the list too, though I’m not great at drawing. I’d like writing lyrics and composing to be a job at some point, but right now they’re still just a hobby too I think.
Do you have any pets?
My cat, Nisha. She rules over me with an iron paw, and I love her dearly.
What sports do you play/have you played?
I played volleyball as a kid for a bit, was good at it and liked it (and still do tbh) but got made fun of for being the chubby one on the team, so I quit. Really liked softball and was told I had a good pitching arm, but again got made fun of constantly for not ‘looking athletic’ so never pursued it. I love badminton and tennis, but no one else I know does so I never get a chance to play it. I will destroy a motherfucker in badminton if they let me.
How tall are you?
Probably more like 5′2 nearing 5′3, but I put 5′3 on my state ID so let’s say that lol.
Favorite subject in school?
I was a Certified Nerd and Academic Freak during school, so I had a bunch rather than just one. Loved English class, of course. Creative Writing I got to do in high school, loved that. Any and all History classes were great, but the year they finally introduced a Native American History class was the best. We got to learn about the local tribes and had folks associated with the tribe come in every now and again, and along with being some of the nicest people I’ve ever met, they were also wonderful to learn from. I wish they’d offered it again each year of school. Languages like French, Spanish, and German were another favorite. Band class was fun until the entire class started making fun of me. Criminal Law I took in high school and my god did I love it. I still even remember the teacher’s name. Mrs. Forde, if you’re out there somehow reading this, you’re wonderful and I’d take that class again in a heartbeat just so I could enjoy it all over again.
Dream job?
Author/screen-writer/actor, either just one or a combo of them. I’d also love to be a musician too, but goodness knows I don’t have the ability to carry that wish.
Tagging: @maythefirthbewithyou, @a-small-fuck-you, @hobbadehoy, @persipneiwrites, @xmxisxforxmaybe, @the-heebiejeebies, @riotpunch, @my-space-and-all-within, @apineappleheart, @pinatafarmer, @starmoonchildfromthebeamsabove, @trans-karkat, @sherlollydramoine, @plupluru, @rysespieces98 no pressure if y’all ain’t feelin’ it of course!

Garrison flashback Keith gave me this idea that the reason he got into a fight with another kid in the first place was because said kid was bullying someone else, and Keith couldn't just stand back and watch so he intervened. My shipper heart likes the idea that the bullied kid was little Lance (I think there's even fanart of that scenario now lol), and that's a major part of why he became so fixated on Keith :D
ok i just. had to write this. i’m having some major Feelings™
If someone asked Lance what he remembered from that day, his answer would be “not much”. And it wasn’t a lie, technically. He didn’t remember much of what counted. Which wasn’t his fault, per se, since there wasn’t much to actually remember.
He remembered some dude being pissed at him. Why was still kind of a mystery to him; Lance thought it might have had to do with how he had winked at Jenny that morning and how she had giggled. He had met her at lunch a few days ago when she had helped him figure out which menu was the vegetarian one - she was nice. And pretty. They were friends. It wasn’t his fault if the guy couldn’t handle some competition.
Anyway, that was his theory. Hunk would say that it probably had to do with how he had accidentally spilled water over the guy’s textbook - he had been excited about the news that he’d get to fly a simulator for the first time next month - but Lance had his doubts. He had immediately apologized and offered to buy a replacement, after all. The dude clearly held a grudge against him that ran deeper than some spilled water.
Next thing Lance knew, the guy had drawn himself up to his full height and had started shouting at him. He had been older than Lance, taller, stronger, not as scrawny as him, and he had had a mean glare. Before Lance could even begin to collect himself, he had started insulting him - his “boring” hairstyle, how he had missed to fasten the topmost button on his uniform, how he had spoken a mix of English and Spanish in his excitement - he was sure there was more he had already forgotten, but bottom line was that it hadn’t been pretty. Hunk had cowered behind him and Lance himself had had his shoulders drawn up, wishing that the people in the hallway directed their attention towards someone else.
And then there had been a blur and a shout and another student had roughly shoved his way in front of Lance, chin drawn up and meeting Asshole Guy’s glare head on.
“Leave him alone,” he had said.
Lance hadn’t known the guy. He remembered his confusion clear as day, who was he? Why would he stand up for Lance if he had never met him? And of that Lance had been sure, he definitely would have remembered the guy’s wild, black mop of hair that might or might not have been against Garrison regulations.
“Who are you? This has got nothing to do with you, move.”
“No. You won’t hurt him.”
Lance’s chest had filled with wonder and begrudging admiration. Wasn’t the boy at all intimidated by how much taller the guy was?
“What? I never wanted to-”
“Go away!”
“No, you go away! This has nothing to do with you, now move.” Asshole Guy had extended his hand as if to shove Lance’s protector out of the way - a mistake.
The shorter guy had thrown himself at the arm, securing it underneath his armpit before punching him square in the jaw.
Lance had just stood there, shocked by what was playing out in front of his eyes and unable to tell either boy to back down. They probably wouldn’t have listened to him anyway.
After that, it hadn’t taken long for a superior officer to arrive. The woman had taken one look at the scene in front of her, had shouted “cadets!” and the entire hallway had straightened up.
“You two. My office. Now.”
Lance hadn’t forgotten the guy. Either guy, actually – but while he did his best to avoid Asshole Guy, he was actively on the lookout for the other one. If only he remembered more about him than his stupid hairstyle, he could have at least asked other cadets if they knew his name or something.
At some point, Lance thought he might have been expelled. He lost sleep over that, he wouldn’t know what to do with himself if the boy had been kicked out in an attempt to stand up for him. Granted, Lance hadn’t encouraged him to get physical, but he hadn’t intervened either.
He felt terrible about it. More than anything, he wished he could talk to him.
Months passed. Lance learned that he was absolute shit at flying the simulator, but he didn’t let that stop him. Flying was fun. It was freeing and exciting and he was in charge. It was everything he had ever hoped it would be.
He would make fighter pilot. He didn’t care how many nights he had to spend going through flight maneuvers in his head, he would make it. Besides, everyone was shitty at flying the simulator for the first time, right?
Wrong.
Lance numbly stared at the wall in front of him. He was a cargo pilot, and not even a good one. He was plain average.
He tried to tell himself it was only his first year. He would have plenty of years to catch up and overtake the others. He would graduate as a fighter pilot, he would make sure of that. And not just any fighter pilot, he would be the best. He would beat number one and make sure that people remembered him. His eyes wandered up, up, up-
Keith. 342 points.
Lance smirked. He had a goal now. He wouldn’t let this get him down.
298. Lance stared at his points with a sinking feeling in his gut.
“Hey, great job! Weren’t you at like 200 last year?” Hunk asked beside him. “You’re in the top 10 now!”
“Yeah, top 10 of the cargo pilots, Hunk,” Lance bit out. 298. Keith had had almost 50 points more last year.
“True, but everyone’s gotta start somewhere, right? Top 10 is awesome, you can definitely make it if you just-”
Lance blocked out Hunk’s voice and searched for the fighter pilots. The lowest one had 319 points, not that Lance cared much. He was looking for the top, the first one-
Keith. 404 points.
Narrowing his eyes, Lance got closer to the board. He refused to let this discourage him. “Watch out,” he hissed, “I’m coming for your crown. Don’t get too comfortable up there.”
His third year at the Garrison held a surprise for Lance. He had just chosen his place in his Theory of Flight class when he sat down in front of him.
He. The boy from his first year. The boy who had been at the back of his mind of a few years now.
It was now or never.
“Hey,” he said. The boy didn’t react. “Hey!” he repeated, a little louder this time. He draped himself across his table in an attempt to tap the boy’s shoulder. “Hey, I’m Lance, do you-”
Lance was barely able get a glimpse of the boy’s face when the instructor raised his voice and began the class. With great reluctance Lance sat back down on his chair. It was just his luck that classes would begin when he had finally found the boy again.
Lance didn’t remember much of the class, other than the black mullet in front of him. He kept his intense stare up until the instructor dismissed them and the guy got up.
“Hey!” Lance exclaimed, but the word got drowned out by the general chatter in the class. Cursing under his breath, he hurried after him. His foot caught against the desk’s leg and he just barely managed to keep his balance, before awkwardly stumbling after him through the door.
“Hey, you, wait up-”
There the boy was.
But he wasn’t alone.
He was with Takashi Shirogane, star pilot of the Garrison and Lance’s hero.
Lance was frozen in the door, doomed to simply watch as Officer Shirogane accepted the papers the boy handed him and looked through them. He was smiling slightly at something the younger guy said before the masses swept them away.
There was no way Lance could run after them now, he would make a fool out of himself in front of Officer Shirogane.
He stood rooted to the spot until one of his classmates asked him if he was okay. He gave her a too bright smile and sprinted off towards his room, hoping with every fiber of his being that Hunk was already back from class.
Alright. This time, Lance was prepared. So the boy who saved him during his first year knew Officer Shirogane, big deal. That didn’t mean he was totally out of his league or anything. They could still be friends, no problem. Maybe he could even introduce him to-
The guy with the mullet entered the classroom and Lance perked up. He had arrived extra early in hopes of catching him before classes started and it had paid off. Grinning, Lance waved at him.
“Hey! You’re here again.”
“Of course I am, I’m in this class,” the boy replied, frowning slightly. Despite looking a little put-off he set his books on the table in front of Lance, so Lance counted it as a win.
“Yeah, I noticed. My name’s Lance, do you remember me?”
The boy’s eyes widened and he gave Lance a quick once-over. “Um…”
“First year?” Lance helped. “You got into a fight…?”
That must have been the wrong thing to say, the boy instantly started scowling again. “I got into a lot of fights. What do you want?”
For the first time in a while, Lance felt uncertain about what to say. He wasn’t a shy person by any means, but he couldn’t get a read on this guy.
“Well, actually, I wanted to thank you. You got into a fight for me, so, yeah. Thanks, man. What’s your name?”
The boy’s frown hadn’t cleared up one bit, but he still said: “Keith.”
Lance swore his heart stopped beating for a moment.
“Keith?” he repeated. “Keith, like… like fighter pilot Keith? Top of the board?”
Keith nodded slowly. Lance was numb.
“You're… you’re Keith. That Keith. And you know Officer Shirogane.”
“Shiro,” Keith said quietly.
Shiro. They were on nickname basis.
Lance must have made some ungodly noise because Keith looked suitably freaked out, but before he could say anything else the instructor entered the class.
For the second time in a row, Lance didn’t absorb a thing in his Theory of Flight class.
“HUNK!”
“WHA- Lance, what’s going on, are you okay, what happene-”
“Hunk, it’s him!”
“Who?!”
“It’s him! He’s the same person!”
“Who- who are we talking about?”
“Keith! Keith is the boy!”
“Oh, this is about your rivalry again. Dude, you gotta stop scaring me with that.”
“No! No no no no, Hunk, it’s him! The boy from the first year! It’s Keith! What am I gonna do?!”
There was nothing he could do. Nothing except chase after him.
(“Don’t follow in his footsteps.”)
And chase.
(“That guy is not gonna beat us in there!”)
And chase.
(“You know, Lance and Keith, neck and neck.”)
And chase.
(“We make a good team.”)
And chase.
(“It’s the red lion! You must go to it.”)
And chase.
(“Roger that, team leader.”)
And chase.
(“Who am I gonna make fun of?”)
And chase.
(“Hey everybody, Keith’s back!”)
And chase.
((“Hey, man. We’re home.”
“Guess so.”
“What’s that supposed to mean?”
“I came home a while ago.”
“You mean-”
“You guys are my home, Lance.”))
He could stop chasing now.
((“I used to be jealous of you.”
“What? Why?”
“Good looking, talented, ace pilot, best friends with Shiro, the list could go on.”
“…oh.”
“Yeah. I thought you were looking down on me.”
“…oh.”))
He didn’t have to prove himself anymore.
((“Did you ever look down on me, Keith?”
“I thought you were annoying. And that your jokes were terrible. Does that count?”))
He could have stopped a long time ago.
((“Lance! You’re back!”
“What, missed me already?”
“I thought you were gonna stay for longer.”
“Nah, I missed home.”
“But… but you were home.”
Lance chuckled. “Now I am.”))
They were Lance and Keith, side by side.

Ahhhhh OKAY THAT's what I THOUGHT TOO!? I am hopeful, but similarly to you, I think I might just be too optimistic. One of my friends who has known him for a long time me told me she thinks it could also just be because he is so nice to everyone... (I think people misinterpret his kindness often?) I am trying not to expect too much; I have terrible terrible luck romantically. It's just kinda nice to have butterflies again, you know? I don't crush easily... (1/2) âme soeur
(2/2) Also I relate to your career/future struggles!! I think I may also investigate grad programs. I am majoring in environmental studies (or as I like to tell people, I am studying the apocalypse lol) and I have a minor in Japanese. To also avoid actually growing up I think I may go Japan and try to teach english there after I graduate. But I also am thinking grad school for sustainable architecture maybe? Especially after my class!! Have you ever considered living abroad? âme soeur
apparently, something similar happened to my sister as well (yes i did just casually mentioned our conversation to my sister if you don’t mind). turns out the boy is just super nice, so yeah! it would be rational to feel cautious about your optimism. but i think if you want to daydream about it romantically, that would be okay as well ( ⁎ᵕᴗᵕ⁎ ) coincidences as such don’t happen very often, after all, and getting crushes are even harder!
it would be good to do some research first, even though there is hardly anything to be done with covid 。:゚(。ﹷ ‸ ﹷ ✿) it only makes me more anxious that i cannot get those opportunities because i am not allowed outside. maybe i should pull the “this is for school” card like what my cousin did to volunteer for a hospital internship. i actually have thoughts about going somewhere and teaching english as like... the last resort (´ω`。) i also thought about tutoring, but i never got around to it. maybe i will try to find some online jobs during summer related to those.
technically speaking, i am living abroad? i lived in my home city longer than i have lived in amerca, but then i didn’t exactly have the most immigrant-esque life since i already have family living here. but no, i don’t think i would want to live abroad unless i have to. if you want to, though, i encourage to follow what you want to do!

31 Days - Part 1
Tumblr media
Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3 | Part 4 | Part 5 | Part 6 | Part 7 | Epilogue
Pairing: Kim Taehyung x Reader
Genre: angst, fluff
Word Count: 2.8k
Summary: You come to Korea to visit your family after you graduate from college. Soon, you find yourself falling for a guy you meet online. There’s only one problem—you’re only in the country for thirty-one days.
You weren’t sure what you expected when you landed in South Korea. You’d been here once, years ago, when you were young. You didn’t remember much, other than the fact that you went over the summer and that it was really hot and that you hated kimchi.
You probably wouldn’t even recognize your cousins even if they were standing in front of you. They were babies back then. But your dad had your cousins and aunt add you on Facebook before you left.
To be honest, you felt a little nervous about coming to Korea. Being born in New York, you definitely knew English better than you knew Korean. After all, you were only half Korean.
You grabbed your suitcase from the baggage claim. You were excited to be in Korea because you haven't been in years. But at the same time you were nervous. You didn't know the language very well and you wondered if people would know just by looking that you weren't one hundred percent Korean.
You let out a yawn and walked through Incheon to find the shuttle that would take you to Seoul Station. You were exhausted. You’d been on that flight for fourteen hours, with some little kid kicking your seat for the majority of the flight. And you had to take the train to Daegu, where your aunt and uncle would meet you.
“Y/N!”
You turned around to find your aunt standing next to the car outside of Daegu station. She looked really similar to your dad so it was pretty easy to spot the woman that called you. With a smile, you walked toward her and her husband.
“You’ve grown so much!” said your aunt, giving you a squeeze.
Your uncle followed up with a hug. “Was the flight long?” He took your bags and put them in the trunk of the car.
You climbed in the backseat. “Yeah. I’m going to be so jetlagged.”
Your aunt smiled at you from the passenger seat. “You have a whole month to get used to it.”
Your uncle got in the car and started driving away from the train station. “Are you excited to have graduated?”
You nodded. “Yeah. I’m glad it’s over.”
“Were you thinking of going to grad school?”
“I’m going to take a year off before I decide,” you explained.
College had been tough. You were ecstatic once you graduated. Ninety percent of the problems in your life had gone away after you walked down the aisle. It was a relief not to have to worry about assignments, exams, or group papers.
You were grateful that your parents agreed to letting you go to Korea for a month before you came back to start your job. You got a job working for a small company in Brooklyn starting in February. If you could, you’d stay longer. You weren’t quite ready to start being an adult.
In fifteen minutes, you had arrived at your grandmother’s apartment. Your aunt and uncle led you inside, saying that your cousins were waiting to see you. As soon as she opened the door your cousins, Yuri and Yubin were in front of the door. You vaguely remembered them as kids, but barely. Yubin was the oldest. She was eighteen, while Yuri was fifteen.
“Hi,” you said shyly.
“Hey,” they said, in unison. They each gave you a quick hug before helping you with your bags. Your cousins led you into a room toward the back of the house. You entered the room that had been prepared for you. It was small, with a full sized bed, nightstand, and a dresser with a small television on top of it.
Your grandma came into the room. “Y/N?”
You turned around to smile at her. “Grandma!” You rushed over to hug her. It had been so long since you’d seen her last. You talked to her on the phone a few times in between, but it wasn’t too often since international calls cost a lot.
“How was the flight?”
“Good,” you said. “I’m just tired. I couldn’t sleep much. Not with a kid kicking my seat.”
She laughed and said, “Are you hungry? Let’s eat… We prepared dinner.”
You were tired, but you couldn’t sleep just yet. Your grandmother and aunt had prepared dinner and it was great. You had all the Korean foods that tasted a hell of a lot better here than back at home. You helped grill beef and wrapped it up with lettuce, rice, and vegetables. Your arrival in Korea was a special occasion because, according to Yubin, grandma “never cooks this much.”
After dinner, you hung out with your cousins in the living room while the adults stayed in the kitchen. Yuri turned the television on and put on the Youtube application. She turned to you and said, “What kind of music do you listen to?”
“I like Rihanna, the Weeknd…Do you know them?”
“I don’t think I know the Weeknd,” Yuri said, putting her hand on her chin. “Do you like Korean music?”
“I’ve heard a few songs,” you said, “but I don’t know any names, to be honest.”
Yuri turned on a music video and said, “Watch this and see if you like it.”
A guy with platinum blonde hair popped up on the screen first, with others behind him, moving left and right.
Yubin started singing. “She got me going crazy…”
“This is a group called EXO,” Yuri explained as her sister continued singing the lyrics in Korean. “Ever heard of them?”
“I have,” you told her. “One of my friends likes that group. She saw them last year when they came to the states but I didn’t go with her. She said she likes Chen. Who’s your favorite? Do you have one?”
Yuri nodded. “My bias is Baekhyun.”
Yubin said, “I’m not as into EXO but I liked Luhan. He left the group, though. Three whole people left the group, can you believe it?”
“Yeah, my friend from back home told me all about it. She really liked Luhan, too.”
Yubin sighed. “I hope no one from NCT leaves. They’re about to make a comeback, too.” She lowered her voice a little. “I kinda think they’re better than EXO right now…”
Yuri snapped, “Hey! I heard that.”
She smirked at her sister. “I’m just saying…I can’t wait to until the music video for Limitless is released. I can’t wait to see Johnny. He’s finally debuting.”
You nodded. “This song is pretty good. I like it. Have you been to their concert before?”
Yubin said, “Yeah. We went to one last year but the last time we tried to buy tickets, they sold out too quickly.”
Yuri said, “We’re going to a BTS fansign in two weeks, though. We both really like them. And I have a letter that I want to give to Jungkook.”
You raised your eyebrows. “You can do that? Actually give them things? I went to a fan meet before and we were lucky if we could even get a picture...”
“Really?” asked Yuri. “It’s not like that here.”
Yubin took a swig from her water bottle. “Do you wanna go with us?”
“Well, I don’t know. I don’t really know them,” you replied.
You had heard about how the fan meets could get. You didn’t want to have to wake up at six in the morning just to wait on line and have a couple seconds to say hi. Plus, you had no idea what BTS was or what it stood for or who the members were. You didn’t want to go up to them, ignorant and not knowing what to say.
“Well,” said Yuri, “if you change your mind, let us know. It’s in two weeks, on a Friday.”
Your aunt came out into the living room. “Come on, both of you have school tomorrow and studying to finish.”
Your cousins groaned and started to stand up. You had almost forgotten that, technically, they were both still high school students. Before leaving, they suggested that the three of you eat together after they came from their after school study group. They said they’d show you some good places to eat.
After they left, you went to the room you’d be staying in after saying goodnight to your grandmother. It had been a long day and you were a bit tired from the trip. You took off your clothes and got in the shower, washing away the dust you were sure you’d accumulated from the long plane ride.
By the time you got in bed, your eyes were low. You took your phone off of the charger for a moment, deciding to see if you could make some friends or something. You opened the whisper app. You typed in ‘Korea’ to see if there were any groups where you could chat with anyone. You found a group of people wanting to learn Korean. You posted in the group: Is anyone here in Korea?
Then you locked your phone and fell asleep almost instantly.
You rolled over, the morning sun peeking through the blinds. You reached for your phone on the nightstand and found that you had a new message from the Whisper app. A person with the username Taeberry95 had messaged you saying, I’m in Korea!
You wrote, I am too! I’m on vacation!
You looked at the person’s age. It said that they were somewhere between eighteen to twenty. Looking at the username, you figured you were talking to a girl.
Taeberry95: Are you Korean?
You: I’m half. I’m from NYC.
Taeberry95: Cool, I’m going there in March!
You: Are you Korean too?
Taeberry95: Yeah. 100%
You: I guess you know English pretty well
Taeberry95: Yeah, my friend helps me out
You: I know a little bit of Korean but not too much
Taeberry95: I can help you if you want to practice writing
You: So what city are you in, if you don’t mind me asking?
Taeberry95: Daegu
You: Me too
Taeberry95: Really?
You: Yeah. I’m visiting family.
Taeberry95: Do you know the area?
You: Not really. I haven’t been here since I was little
Taeberry95: I could give you some recommendations
You: That would help out a lot. Do you know where a bookstore is?
Taeberry95: There’s a bookstore called Kyobo. They sell english books there. Haha idk if you know enough Korean to read a whole book.
You: Lol you’re right. I don’t
Taeberry95: I’m always right ;)
You: Whatever lol
Taeberry95: Would you want to meet up sometime? I can take you to the bookstore.
Taeberry95: Sorry if it’s too forward, I was just wondering…
You: No, no, it wasn’t too forward.
You: Are you free today?
Taeberry95: Yeah, do you wanna meet today?
You: Sure, I’m meeting my cousins for dinner around 8 but we can hangout before then.
Taeberry95: How’s 4?
You: That works for me
Taeberry95: Do you have kakao?
You: Yeah. What’s your ID?
Taeberry95 gave you the kakao ID and messaged you first. Hey, it’s Tae.
My name is Y/N.
You got a picture message next. You were pleasantly surprised to find that Taeberry95 wasn’t a girl. Taeberry95 was a guy.
You wrote, You’re a guy? Lol
What? Did you think that I was a girl?
Um kinda…
Lmao nah, i’m a guy, he wrote. Anyway, this is me.
You searched through your phone library, deciding that you should send him a picture, too. The last thing you wanted was for this Korean guy to think that you were a catfish or something. You looked at his picture for a moment. He was good looking. His skin was darker than a lot of other Koreans you’d seen walking around and his lips were full. He had a great smile, you noticed, with almond shaped eyes that seemed so happy and full of life.
He was really attractive, you realized. Suddenly, you felt a lot less confident than you had, say, just a few minutes ago. What if he thought you were ugly? Immediately, you shook those negative thoughts out of your head. No, you thought. I’m thinking way too deep into this. He only asked you to meet up at the bookstore. It was a normal meetup. The two of you would probably just make small talk and talk about your favorite books. Did he even like reading? You shook your head. It wasn’t like you were meeting up to go on a date. How you looked shouldn’t matter.
You went through your camera roll and clicked on one of the three pictures you took on the plane before it took off. You chose the one where you thought your smile looked best and sent it to Tae.
He messaged you back immediately. You’re pretty :)
You smiled. You’re right. I am pretty.
He said, Lol so does that mean I’m ugly?
With the grin still plastered across your face, you typed, Not necessarily
Your heart started racing as you allowed Google Maps to guide you toward the bookstore. You had met up with people from social media before, but this was a bit different, You were in a completely different country with different culture and traditions. You hoped that you didn’t come off as rude. Americans have a bad reputation internationally, so you hoped that you’d make a good first impression.
You went inside the bookstore as you texted him to say that you were there. It was a cute little store, with cute little stationery items. As you started sorting through the pencils that they had, you heard your name. Whipping your head around, you found Tae. He was just as handsome as in the selfie he sent earlier, if not more.
He smiled brightly at you and waved. “Hey, Y/N!”
“Hey, how are you?”
You thought about hugging him because that’s what you’d normally do but you didn’t know him well enough for that. Koreans weren’t very touchy feely when it came to others unless it was their boyfriend or girlfriend or something like that. The last thing you wanted was to scare him off. He seemed really cool. After agreeing to meet up, you continued texting. You found out that he actually did like reading and that Harry Potter was one of his favorite series, though he hadn’t had time to read the last three. He’d said, “I saw the movies, though!”
“You like stationery?” he asked.
You shrugged. “It’s cute, but I’ve never really considered buying any.”
He smiled. “Let’s look at some books.”
“Okay,” you said, following him.
He walked toward the back of the bookstore, where the books for young adults were. You came across a bunch of familiar titles that you’d seen in Barnes & Noble back home. He picked up Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. “I haven’t had time to finish this one.”
“What have you been doing?”
He said, “Oh, I’ve just been working...”
“I just graduated from college so I’m here for a month.”
“Do you know what you want to do?”
“I want to work for a while. I was thinking of going to graduate school. I’m just not sure what I want to do,” you explained. “I got a job. I start next month as a Digital Marketing Assistant.”
“That sounds like fun.”
“What kind of work do you do?” you asked, shifting through books.
Tae sat down against the wall, book in hand. “I go to cyber university and also work at an entertainment company.”
“I know music and movies are really big here, but I don’t know any of the companies or the artists.” You sat down next to him, beginning to flip through one of the books you found. “Do you listen to K-pop?”
“All the time.”
“My cousins seem to like it a lot. They showed me a group called EXO. The song was called ‘Monster.’ Do you know it?”
He nodded. “They’re really popular these days.”
“They want me to go to a fanmeet with them too. I forgot what group they said.”
“You should go,” he said. “It might be fun.”
“Yeah,” you said. “Maybe I will. I was thinking of going shopping nearby while they go to it.”
“Are you into fashion?”
“A little bit. I like shopping every now and then. I could use some new clothes. What about you?”
“I like clothes. I wasn’t rich or anything growing up so I kind of just wore whatever I got, you know?”
“Yeah. I wasn’t rich either.”
“But I’m making a lot more money now so I can buy more things.”
You nodded. “I saved up a lot of money for this trip. While I was in school, I worked at Starbucks part-time.”
“I’m actually kind of thirsty. Do you want to get bubble tea? We can come right back if you want,” he said, chuckling, “or if I’m too weird, you can leave.”
You shook your head, joining in his laughter. “You’re not too weird.”
He stood up, putting the book he had back on the shelf. “Are you sure? You’re not lying to me, are you?”
“No,” you said, “I’m not lying to you. Don’t worry.”
And he shot you that sweet smile again.

11 Questions Tag:
I had originally tagged @trashyforkpop when I did this just the other day, but then she retagged me in her’s to answer her 11 questions!! So, that’s what I’m doing! Thank you, lovely!! 💗
I’m not gonna tag anyone or ask any new questions haha, but yeah here it is!! :)
I’m putting this under “keep reading” because it ended up a lot longer than I thought it would be, haha.
EDIT: i went to edit something on this and accidentally deleted it, so i’m reposting it lmao. good thing I had originally written it out in my notes on my laptop lmao.... deep sigh haha.
1. What is the worst thing you’ve ever done?: Lol, I am lowkey such a goodie-two-shoes??? I honestly can’t think of anything really bad that I’ve done besides maybe lie to someone to get out having to do something (but it would be like??? lying to not hang out or go somewhere I don’t feel like going). lmao
2. Tell me about your day: My day was pretty good! I had a job interview this morning, and I pretty much got the job but I’m gonna be starting off doing some different jobs before I work my way up to the supervisor position I had originally applied for. So, I’ll be working at a Nursing Home/Rehabilitation facility pretty soon!! Today has been really rainy and wet and gross out, so after I got back from my interview, I chilled for a bit. Then, my mom and I met my uncle and grandmother at a farm to go and buy plants to put in our backyard garden (which was kinda gross because again… it’s pouring outside, but everything was in green houses, which was nice). I had a yummy lunch that I made (it was kinda like homemade ramen, but i used rice noodles instead because I’m on a gluten free diet right now). Now, I’m chilling again, and cleaning up around the house, before my mom and I go out to dinner later tonight with my mom’s best friend. All in all, a pretty good day so far! :)
3. What is something about yourself you wish others appreciated about you more?: My ability to problem solve and think on my feet. (sometimes, I feel like people don’t listen to my suggestions?? even though they end up doing what I was going to say/did say in the end??). *insert dramatic eye rolls here*
4.  What languages can you speak?: Unfortunately, only english, fluently. I can speak a bit of Spanish, but only really enough to kind of converse. I’d love to learn more languages though! (Side note: my brother is amazing at languages, he’s a linguistics major in college right now, and has taught himself a lot of languages, so I’m kinda jealous about that).
5. Some of your favorite emojis even if they’re not commonly used: 💫🌷🤧🆗🆒⭐️🌙🤗🤷🏻‍♀️🗣 and my favorite emoji: 💖
6. A misconception you had about kpop (for example I used to think that got7′s JinYoung was an asshole cause of all the fancams where he rejected fans love but in reality he’s the softest bean): I don’t really know? I guess, for me, first impressions are pretty strong and if I see a member that seems to be kind of “cold” or “serious” with their outside appearance during performances or in interviews, I kind of think that that’s how they are. At least until I learn more about them and realize that they are all serious softies that deserve the world. :( (specifically Yongguk, Yoongi, Taeyong, and probably a bunch more hahah).
7.  Any song recommendations?: I’m gonna go down the non-kpop route, because… well, Idk why but yeah.
“Easy” by Mac Ayres
“LY4L” by Katelyn Tarver (actually, anything by Katelyn Tarver ahah: but especially “Love Me Again”, “Hate to Tell You”, “A Little More Free”, “It’s Good” & “Love Alone”)
Literally anything by LANY (they are my favorite band), but specifically: “4EVER!”, “Someone Else”, “ILYSB” (and the acoustic vers. omg), “yea, babe, no way”, “pink skies” (!!!!!!!!!!), “like you lots”, “it was love”, ect.
“Four Walls” by Broods
“Never Be Like You” by Flume
“Drive” by Glades
“Start of Time” by Gabrielle Aplin
((probs more but that’s all i can think of right now lol))
8. Brag about yourself: (I’m deadass gonna grade you like a teacher so the more the better) lol ok this is gonna be kinda awkward because I don’t really like to brag about myself???? but, here we go I guess. I am an incredibly organized and put together person. I am honestly know as the organization queen in my family, because I can literally take anything that may be messy (a closet, a room, a cabinet, a purse, files, anything tbh) and organize it. I also really enjoy organizing, so that makes it even better to me haha. I am a very patient person (tbh I’m not sure who I got it from because my mom can be so impatient lmao, and so can my dad), so I take a lot of pride in that fact? I have always been really great a bullshitting essays? Like, I can write a pretty solid essay on topics i’m not event too familiar with in a short amount of time, and get a really great grade on it. I’m also really great at writing long papers (or papers that have to have a certain number or pages or words minimum). Like, if a professor gave an assignment where we had to write a paper that had to be at least 3-4 pages long, my essay would end up being at least 7 pages (and I almost always did really well on those papers lol). Besides the fact that I may begin working in a nursing home/rehabilitation center in the diet department, I also volunteer at my local hospital. I work under one of the RD’s in the oncology department, and I have been creating handouts for cancer patients that explain the different nutrition considerations that would benefit specific types of cancers. (Like, I just completed a handout that’s made for patients with brain tumors). Umm, I’m not really one to brag about my outer appearance, but I do think I have a great style?? Like, I really love the way that I dress on a day to day basis, and though I may sometimes dress like a grandma, I’m really proud of the cute, young adult but still 22 year old, style that i have?? idk. I also really like my hair and my eyebrows?? Like, I’m super happy with my eyebrows lmao, I take a lot of pride in them??? I also think I’m a really great listener, and I take a lot of pride in being someone that people can talk to, and I always try to give my undivided attention. I also try to give the best advice that I can (I’m not the best at it, but I really try my best to help). I am also really sarcastic and kinda witty (and I can be quite funny once you get to know me), and I really like that about myself. idk, is that enough annah????
9. Do you have any “useless” knowledge?: (pls share an “useless” fact) Did you know that strawberries and raspberries aren’t actually berries, but banana’s technically are?? Strawberries and raspberries both derive from single flowers that have more than one ovary, but a true berry would derive from a single flower that has only one ovary. Technically, bananas derive from a flower with only one ovary, making them berries. Eggplants and tomatoes too.
10. The ocean or space, and why?: Well, as gorgeous as I find the ocean to be, and as long as I have lived near the ocean, I am not an ocean person. I think that the extent and the depth of what’s in the ocean is incredible and completely fascinating, and there is so much in the ocean that we have still yet to learn about, but I find outer space to be completely fascinating. Let me just say that the extent of my knowledge on either subject is very low, but I think find space to be so interesting. There’s this whole universe out there that we have yet to discover, and there’s so much out there (like planets, life, stars, galaxies, ect) that we still don’t know about and i think that’s really awesome. I also can’t swim too well and I hate seaweed, so for that reason, I’m not big on the ocean. but I’d also never want to go to space??? so idk there are things about each I love and find to be fascinating, but there are also aspects of each that I don’t like?? I hope this made sense, hahah.
11. How are you?: (in depth response required “I’m fine” is not allowed) I’m doing pretty well! I’ve got a lot of shit on my mind lately, and I’m trying to figure a lot of my life out still, but slowly but surely, things are working out in my favor, which makes me quite happy. I definitely have my moments where I and definitely not in a great headspace, where I kinda just want to keep to myself and be alone, but currently, I’ve been pretty content. My anxiety was really bad maybe 2 weeks ago, but since then, i haven’t been too anxious or anything. Overall, I’m good right now. :)

What color is your bedspread? Blue and yellow. Pick up the nearest book to you, turn to page 25 and read the first sentence. I’m on the rooftop and there isn’t a book anywhere near me at the moment. How many candles are in the room you are in? No candles, just two faint beams coming from our rooftop lights. What was your first word when you were a baby? My parents didn’t give much thought to stuff like that so they didn’t keep track of my first word, whatever it was. It was most likely either mommy or daddy though. How old were you in 1996? I was...somewhere in the universe, floating around lmao.
How old will you be in 2016? I turned 18 in 2016. How long until your birthday? A little less than three months before I turn 22. How many siblings do you have? Two.  Are they older or younger than you? My sister is two years younger, my brother is five years younger. Are your grandparents still alive? I have three out of four. I lost my maternal grandfather in 2015. How many orange objects are there in the room you are in? The lights we have on our rooftop emit a yellow-orange hue.   Have you ever run a stoplight? Never. I’ve seen enough car crash videos to know what could possibly happen if I was that impatient/if I drove too fast to brake. Do you have any children? Nope. Maybe by the end of the decade. Saying that and knowing that it isn’t 100% bullshit feels WILD. How was your first kiss? It was mostly her. I was too overwhelmed and shaking too much to remember. That whole time I was just in disbelief that I was already having my first kiss lol. Have you completed high school yet? Yeah, almost four years ago. I’m about to complete university/college this year. Do you have any relatives in the military currently? As far as I know, no. The only person I know who’s in the military is Angela’s uncle, who she’s told me about but we’ve never met each other. I also know Kate’s brother is attending military school instead of attending a ~traditional academic university, so to speak. Who got married at the last wedding you went to? Oh my, the last wedding I was in was in 2007, and it was between my uncle (my mom’s youngest brother) and my now-aunt. The new batch of weddings I’m going to be invited to now is definitely gonna be my friends’ and I’m STOKED. What time did you get up today? I first woke up at 6 AM, but I wanted to sleep in so I officially got up at around 9. When was the last time you stayed up all night? I haven’t had an all-nighter in around three years, but I did stay up until 4 AM partying with my friends a couple of months ago. We got back to Rita’s place by 5 AM, but I guess this still kinda counts as staying up all night. How long have you had a myspace, facebook, or whatever you use? I’ve had a Facebook since 2013 (I only made one since my English teacher in freshman year required us to make an account, but I technically wasn’t allowed by my parents so I had to sign up in secret). I made a Twitter three years before that, because it was a website that my parents didn’t know about yet so it was easier to sneak in and make an account for it. Who was the last person of the opposite sex you hung out with? My cousin, Jereth. We exchanged stories and played the Switch while waiting for 2020 to hit. Person of the same sex? Gabie. She came over last Friday. What color are your eyes? They are dark brown but appear to be black most days. Do you like them? Sure, it’s not like Filipinos have a choice lolol. Have you ever had braces? Yes, I had them for a year and a half in high school. I eventually lost my retainers and never got to buy another set, so everything that the braces did was to no avail since my teeth just went back to how they looked like pre-braces. :( Turn on your mp3, cd player, radio, etc. What song is playing? Khalid’s Talk just started playing on my Spotify. What was the last thing you drank? My second cup of barako coffee is keeping me company up on the rooftop right now.
Are you better at math or art? Math. I never accomplished anything presentable in art classes. Science or History? Oooooh, ya got me. I love both, but nothing replaces my love for history. Who was your 4th grade teacher? Ms. Belen, who is actually Satan in a middle-aged woman’s body. I won’t deny that I’ve wished for her death several times; she had her favorites and made her non-favorites know that she hated them. She was just that awful. Who was your best friend in 7th grade? Gabie! We actually met in the seventh grade and she’s been my best friend ever since then. Where did you go to pre-school, if you went at all? I went to the same school from preschool to high school, which we’ll hide under the name AA. We don’t have schools divided into primary, secondary, high school and whatever else y’all have in America. Who was the last person to call you? It was my mom. We went to the mall so I can spend time in Starbucks while she was looking for fancy china (we were going to have guests the next day), and she called to tell me she was gonna drive to another mall cos she couldn’t find any good plates in the mall we were currently in.
Did you smile in your driver's license picture? Yes. They told me I was allowed to smile, so I gave a hearty grin. Apparently that’s an unusual thing to do cos most people just give a closed-mouth smile or don’t smile at all, and the people at the LTO were very amused when my license was finally printed out hahaha. Do you have a job? Not yet, but that’s my goal by the end of the year. AHHHHHHHH WILD What is your favorite smell? Curry being cooked or cookies being baked. What's your favorite brand of gum? Bazooka is classic bubblegum flavor, so I’ll go with that. Have you ever dated someone & then dated their sibling? Nope. I think I’d find that super awkward, especially in my case because I see Gab’s sisters as my little sisters too lol. Who was your crush in 5th grade? My science teacher lmaoooo. We don’t talk about that era. Who was your first bf/gf? Gab. What color is the shirt you are wearing? Brown and black. What do you think of the 1980's? Pop music, big hair, Madonna, Michael Jackson. Have you ever dated someone more than 2 years older than you? I haven’t. How about 2 years younger? Nope. I’ve only dated one person and they’re the same age as me, so I don’t really know how I feel about age gaps in relationships. What brand of shampoo do you use? Dove. How long is your hair? It’s super long now that I hadn’t had it cut AT ALL in 2019. I want to have it long for my grad pic shoot so I’m probably not having it trimmed until February. If I lean my head a bit back, it already reaches my hips. If you could change one thing about yourself physically, what would it be? I’d have my teeth fixed. Is there a box of tissues in the room you are in right now? Nope, I’m out in the rooftop and there’s no reason to keep tissue in here lol. What time is it? 10:27 PM. Is their anything living (plant, animal, etc) in your room right now? We have plants on each corner of the rooftop. What color are the walls in your kitchen? White. All our walls are white, except for my brother’s bedroom which used to be the balcony until we had it renovated. His walls are creamish. Have you ever had a car accident? Mild ones. I’ve never been in a major crash where a car was totally destroyed or where someone was hurt. Do you have any major plans for today? There’s like half an hour left before the day officially ends, so I think I’m good. What kind of deoderant do you use? A...normal one? If you mean brands, I have a Dove one. What color is your toothbrush? Maroon and white. Do you own a digital camera? Nope. I stopped using those around seven or eight years ago. How old is the cellphone you have right now? It’s almost two years old. What are your initials, using the last letter of each of your names? NELZ. Do you know anyone named Tyler? I know a high school classmate’s stepbrother is named Tyler, but I don’t know anyone personally with that name. How about Reese? Katreen’s younger sister is named Reese. Diana? No. I know several Diannes, though. Shelby? That’s a no for me. Have you ever kissed someone who's name started with "C"? Negative. How about "L"? Also no. "E"? I haven’t. "B"? Andddddd nope. Are both your parents still living? Yep. What was the last thing you cooked? Nothing. How many times have you moved in your life? That I remember? Two. Do you live within 20 miles of your birthplace? Yeah, I think Manila counts as being pretty close to where I am now. Can you do a handstand? I can’t. I tried many times as a kid though (and hurt myself several times in the process). Is it after 11am? Well after, in fact. What day is it? Thursday, but it’s soon going to turn to Friday. What's the longest time you've ever spent on the phone? I was once on a Viber call for around eight hours straight with Gab back in like the early months of our relationship. That was insane. We never did it again after that lolol. How many pairs of brown shoes do you own? Just the one pair of brown heels. Are you on any prescribed medications? Nopes. What was the date 2 weeks ago from today? December 19th. If you aren't already married, do you expect to be married within 5 years? No. I’m giving myself between 7-10 years. How about 2 years? That’s an even bigger no. How many funerals have you been to in your lifetime? I’ve never been to a funeral, just wakes. I don’t think I’d like funerals, so I want to stay as unaware as I am now. Have you ever been far away from home on your birthday? Yeah. I was in Batangas for my 20th. I also went on a cruise around East Asia for my 18th birthday, but I was back in the Philippines by the day of my actual birthday. The cruise took place in the days leading up to it. Have you ever had a pet fish? Yes. My first pets were goldfish. Do you have any tattoos? Nope. Would you ever or do you have a nose piercing? Probably not. I wanted one as a teenager though. If you only had 30 days to live, what would you do? That’s pretty dark, but uhhhhhhhh I guess I’d spend all my money, party as much as I want, drink as much as I want, look for new owner/s for my dog, drive as far as I can, spend most of the time with my girlfriend.
