i dont live anywhere near them, im poor and live in a very rural and isolated area and i have shit that makes clubs in general not ideal. social anxiety, autism and sensory issues, photosensitive epilepsy, physical disabilities, immunocompromised. it doesn't matter, i shouldn't have to justify or explain why im 9/10 never going to a club and that im fine with it

but some people throwing around its a crucial life event/rite of passage to adulthood is gross. for people like me, its a giant health risk and something i CANT do. making it sound like youre missing out on life for not participating in something is just gross and feels slightly ableist, even if you have good intentions and thats not where its coming from.

Alignments - A Memory Dump Essay

Morality, in The Before, was different, in the sense that there were Allignments.

I am A Silver Dragon, from a slightly AU-ed Dungeons and Dragons world. Alignments there dictated whether you were good or evil, lawful or chaotic. You may have seen the grid around, the nine squares with things like ‘neutral good’ and ‘lawful evil’ on them. This is that.

When I say ‘good’ and ‘evil’ I mean a different concept than the behavior choices that fall into ‘doing harm’ and ‘helping people’. There were words differing between the two in dragonic, though I do not remember them now, for what I am talking about.

In this world, ‘good’, ‘evil’, ‘lawful’ and ‘chaotic’ - the dragonic forms of these words, were not behavior descriptors, nor intention descriptions. They were factions, and many species simply could not choose their born faction or change it very much if they could. These factions were generally due to god interference in the creation of that species, and it meant certain magics worked or did not work against/for them or they had traits that were often seen as harmful. The correct translation for ‘good’ and ‘evil’ is more accurately ‘darkness’ and ‘light’, though lawful and chaotic are close enough to ‘things that follow order’, and ‘things that reject order’.

These alignments said very little about the behavior they exhibited or the morals they had. The dragonic word for ‘evil’ as in how people here use it to mean ‘does harm to others’ could be retranslated as ‘being an asshole’. A person aligned lawful good could regularly commit tax fraud and beat their wife, and a person who was chaotic evil could be a pacifist who gardens and is passionate about healthcare reform.

For some of the littlefolk (the Polite translated dragonic word for humans and elves and the like), this was more flexible, and generally littlefolk would not consider those who did large amounts of harm to their in-group to be good aligned, nor people who had never done harm any worse than neutral, despite this not being the case magically speaking. It could make things rather confusing when talking to the layman, as much of the littlefolk could simply choose whatever faction they liked and often could jump ship whenever they liked too.

There were other various littlefolk somewhat limited in their alignment choice however- a Drow could not be ‘good’, and Aasimir could not be ‘evil’, for example. Usually this was split down the good and evil, rather than lawful and chaotic, as the ‘good’ and ‘evil’ deities held the most active sway.

Think of it like nationality, I suppose. Its the closest equivalent. Some people can't ever gain citizenship in a country other than their country of birth even if they want to, others can do so with a bit of work.

Dragons, however, didn’t have this sort of choice. All true dragons were born a specific alignment to do with their species, and inherent instincts to follow the tenants generally professed by that faction. This is one of the major traits that separated a True -also known as Greater- Dragon from other dragonic creatures, such as fairy dragons, wyverns, and rust dragons, actually. Other dragonic creatures had some wiggle room.

Chromatic dragons were all evil aligned, Gem dragons were all neutral aligned, and Metallic dragons were all good aligned. Planar dragons, while true dragons, were another matter and their alignments were to nothing on the scale as their origin points and commitments were beyond the gods of that my former plane’s influence. Lung dragons were a type of Planar dragon in my canon, instead of their own category.

The individual species of those groupings each had a assigned further spot. A Gold Dragon was ALWAYS Lawful Good, whether they are an abhorrent entity or not, and a White Dragon was always Chaotic Evil.

The individual species were as follows(* for ones that are AU to dnd 5e canon but are true to mine):

Chaotic Evil - Red, Black, Yellow, White

Neutral Evil - Brown, Purple*, Gray

Lawful Evil - Blue, Green

Chaotic Neutral - Topaz, Crystal

True Neutral - Amber, Amethyst, Obsidian*, Prismatic

Lawful Neutral - Emerald, Sapphire

Chaotic Good - Copper, Mercury*, Brass

Neutral Good - Silver*, Iron*

Lawful Good - Gold, Bronze, Platinum*, Steel

So I was and am a Silver Dragon. Bahumat created metallic dragons with the intention of combating His sister Tiamat, who created chromatic dragons in turn. The deities of Law and Chaos- neither touched my kind deeply. We could use all magic aligned with the light or neutral powers, and none of the dark. There was little magic that was specifically aligned with order and chaos, but all of that was accessible, provided the spell was not of the shadow. Things that repelled creatures of the light could keep me out.

The more ‘good’ creatures that existed in the world in relation to ‘evil’ ones brought more and less power to Bahumat and Tiamat in their eternal fight. So long as one ‘good’ or ‘evil’ creature existed, neither god could die and they were driven to wipe each other out. The same could be said of the law and chaos deities.

Of my life, the beginning is murky. Once I was grown enough to roam, I first Adventured with a elven rider companion and then lived upon a mountain lair until my death. Towards the middle and latter end, the towns at its base paid me rites and respect for my guardianship. These rites did technically elevate me to a minor god* capable of working greater magic. I also had a village much closer to and in my lair, one where I took those who asked my asylum who perhaps needed greater safety or guidance.

I would defend my territory and would help those who asked. It was a good life, and I hold little to no exotrauma from it.

*not to be confused with Greater gods, which are what effect Alignment or embody big concepts, minor gods are just those who are Believed in by enough people- and thus given power from that collective Belief

The divide between what was and what is is deeper and more shallow that one would expect, all at once.

I’ve started tentatively identifying as a walk-in relatively recently, my selfhood simply showed up one day and the original, whos interests, opinions, demeanor, and identity was different than mine disappeared shortly thereafter. The system has many theories on how exactly this happened, the origins thus such, and how much of the original’s ego was made into me, and also exactly when. The transition was rather seamless and there was much brain weirdness to muddle it all and convince me that I have always been here. None of us know the answer, and it generally doesn’t matter in practice.

The experiences of the original that I inherited gave a large amount of distance to this life. For reference, I Awakened as a Silver Dragon ~2014 perhaps 2015 -time is muddy- or so- having finally put together all the noema and shifts and assorted feelings that were not my cat theriotype into what they were. I had been in the body for a good handful of years previous to that, however. It gives me a distance from that life. My memories and retained selfhood from that life are dull- a botched reincarnation. I remember just enough- I experience just enough bleedover that it upholds a pillar of my identity and I still identify as the being of that life, but not so much I am exactly as-is.

I want to do a little disclaimer- The statement that this definitively IS a past life and I AM a walk in and these ARE memories of a past life is a theory, not fact. I do not and cannot know if my theory is right, and I have a healthy dose of skepticism in regards to this. My experiences could be sourced to many things, however I experience my draconity in a fashion that is similar to how others describe their past life experiences. It fits accounts better than the accounts of people who are not past-life otherkin. It feels right to describe these experiences as such, and so I do. Perhaps one day my understanding of this may change, but for now it is as such.

Returning to the topic at hand; its a point of frustration to me almost to the point of dysphoria, how good and evil, and moral and immoral are used in society here and how. Good and evil denote both the ingroup-outgroup AND the moral standard, equating sinful with strange with harmful behavior. Evil no longer means ‘entity supporting or created by Tiamat’- who is night and shadow. Good no longer means ‘entity supporting or created by Bahumat’- who is day and light.

The congruence of good with helping and evil with harming is far more intense here, Bahumat and Tiamat as I know them hold no power here- as they shouldn’t. Their place was in my old reality and that is as far as those entities reach. The assignment of moral values to enjoyment of a thing or thoughts, rather than actions is wholly new, and honestly quite unpleasant.

Evil here, becomes ‘entity that enjoys harming’ and often ‘anyone I don’t like’

Good here them also becomes ‘entity that enjoys helping’ and often ‘anyone I do like’

There will be people who insist to ignore people that do that last part and claim that it doesn’t matter- that the social realities of how others assign you do not matter, but I disagree.

Being queer, kinky, mentally ill, neurodivergent, disabled, and a strong leftist among other things means people will think me evil for existing quite a bit. Stigmatized minorities are othered, our traits become evil no matter how kind we may be.

Society calls us evil, has designated us evil- alright, how is this a bad thing?

Disassociating Evil from moral allows one to reclaim Evil. Ok, we are Evil now, but oh, no less kind. No less caring. Take the words slung at you and make armor out of them.

And also no matter how kind you may be, by this metric if you enjoy causing pain and destruction, you are evil.

This… is a thoughtcrime thing. No matter how you conduct yourself in life, if you enjoy pain you are evil to society at large. So as above, unlink Evil from Moral, and it is reclaimable.

How people assign you is a material reality you can choose to make hold no power over you. You can make it your own scales.

It is for the reason of words changing meanings, of the fact that my god I was born to does not reach here and thus frees me from obligations, that I no longer identify as Neutral Good. It simply does not mean the same thing anymore and I can now choose my alignment besides. Bahumat was no terrible god to serve or anything, but I would have appreciated the choice if it was not hardwired into my dragon brain at the time to be devoted to such a being.

I take joy in harm and at the same time take joy in helping, I think the absence of care of society is not something I can do, nor do I think rigid obedience is right.

Thus I would consider myself in the alignments of this world today as True Neutral.

Not to mention I have chosen the service of a True Neutral god in Cernunnos, so by my former world’s standards I am True Neutral now as well.

It feels right, to identify as such now. Society considers me evil enough I am too sin-stained to be good, but I have too much love of creation and helping to be wholly evil.

I believe that rules are necessary or we get Situations that cause harm to others, but at the same time am too Anarchist-leaning to not chafe under absolute order.

Still, the... Dissatisfaction with how people use alignments here persists.

This is the furthest into a year I have made it without writing a ‘letter’, yet. Part of me is like “yay progress!” But another part of knows its not for lack of trying.

I’m so sad. a deep, gut wrenching, kind of sad. It’s not the same as depression. Or maybe it’s just not like my old depression? It’s softer? God I’m so sad I can hardly eat some days... But it’s not because I decided I don’t deserve to eat, or because my anxiety has made me feel so sick I can’t bring myself to... I just... don’t? I cry less too. This sadness is quiet. I hardly even noticed it. months went by before I realised “oh shit im sad”

I know it’s because of my illness. I know. But I can’t even find the words to describe how I feel? I’m in pain sure and that sucks, but I’ve always been in pain. I look back at the last 6 years and its all clouded with pain and before that was pain. I left school because of pain.

I know part of it is how god damn angry I am. It took me 8 years to get over the trauma of childhood. It took me four years of being away from toxic family to heal. And just as I was getting strong. Learning to love myself, accept myself, forgive myself and my past... my body just gave up??? So now I have to hold my shoulders carefully when I sleep and sit and walk with a bag so they don’t sublux? I have to train my muscles to hold my joints in place? because my body is a shitty effort of a human and falls apart so easy. And no not in a fun party trick way. Just in the “oh god that hurts” way. I’m so MAD. I try to make it fun. I try to not let it bother me. I try.

I have friends now who only know me as this person. The “less able” Sam. And it feels a lot like grief. Like, I have friends who knew me pre my mums death, and those friends though they know the trauma and watched me change still have the memory of the old Sam. And some part of me always feels like they are just waiting for her to come back. But I can’t be that person again any easier than I can go back to who I was before I started needing a walking stick.

Thats such a crazy thing for me. I’m 24 years old. My joints have hurt my whole life but this year I had to buy a walking stick. My 70 something year old grandfather who had a hip replacement only uses his sometimes! And sure so do I. But I’m supposed to be the tough one. I never used to cry when I got ear infections. I didn’t cry when I was told I shouldn’t swim anymore. I was always stronger than the boys, could always carry things further, run further. Got kicked by a horse? Horse step on your foot? Thrown off again? I was the tough one. I’m not supposed to be the weak one. I am not the type who can’t open cans because their god damn fingers are too bendy to get a good grip. Or can’t do up buttons because their wrists are too sore. I’m not supposed to need all kinds of braces to just keep my feet pointing in the right direction.

God I’m so fucking mad. I’m so fucking young. I had so much shit to get over. I had so much life I wanted to live. Now I have to consider a fucking disability first every time. And I can’t do shit to fight it. Sure I can do my fucking exercises. I can take painkillers and ‘think happy thoughts’. But the harsh truth is, my body is going to just keep getting worse and worse. Maybe I can buy myself 10 years of good quality life? But maybe not? And to do that I’d need to quit my job. But this job pays me better than I have hope of finding anywhere else. This job allows me to save 5 grand in a year. So I am left to choose living better or living safer. Money means security. The more I earn now, the safer I will be when my body gives in. Because who knows what benefits will be available in the future.

So yeah. This depression is different. my old depression was sadness for the sake of sadness. It was born from self hate and trauma. intangible concepts and longing. it was a different kind of hurt. I was a lot younger. Felt everything for the first time. Now I am much more weather-worn. This sadness is for a loss of self. It is for how tired I am. No longer just with living, but because of living. Of wanting to live. so badly to live. This sadness is the agony of being destined to feel pain alone. Pain is the most solitary condition. You can’t see it or describe it or give it or take it away, pain is to be alone. I am not lonely. I am not alone. But GOD is there a part of me that yearns. For SOMETHING. I don’t know what for, but my body screams that it will know when it finds it. So until then my chest just feels heavy? And the only word I have to describe how empty and hopeless I feel is sad?

So if you interpret "the call" as just "the start to the adventure" then already we dont really have that.

Tho again cos of anxiety about being weird i did end up writing a potential more call-ish intro scene but seriously its just like five seconds of "hmm i will try to cilmbe dis mountaine" "BUFF FRIEND WILL HELP U"

Like there was really no damn thing that "forced" either of them to "take up the hero's mantle" and they dont even really do anything "heroic". There's no destiny reason, its just a dude making a kind of dumb decision to risk his life on an adventure to try and settle some personal anxieties he has about something he hates about his personality. And his good friend coming along to protect him, and try and help heal the hurt. He doesnt really discover that his destined enemy is at the top of the mountain and they caused everything wrong in his life. He just discovers that the guy who was right next to him wants to help him through these tough times and together they can cope with the darkness, even if there's no easy solution to banish it forever.

So yeah you'd think "sad thing happens in the backstory and then over a decade later he does this thing" would be a "refusal od the call" but really the sad thing was just a sad thing and it was never calling him anywhere. Less "refusal of the call" and more "doing the rational thing and not giving in to paranoia and self doubt", with honestly the start of the story being a BAD THING for him! Like at the start you think that Beau forcing himself into Errol's "quest" is just "lol funny comic relief man" but really its a guy seeing his best friend make a potentially self destructive choice and being REALLY WORRIED so he has to come along. And just putting on this funny comic reliefy persona extra hard because he's trying to keep his buddy's spirits up, while also hiding that he also has his own personal anxieties that are a reason for him to wanna climb the mountain too. I haven't exactly decided yet but Errol is either a vampire or a ghost, depending on whichever i can create a cooler design for. He actually didnt survive the accident in his childhood, and this whole time he's been some sort of supernatural creature trying his best to hide the signs he isnt human anymore. He thinks that there must be some sort of greater plot behind all this because he's desperate to find any way he can cure it. But really there isn't a cure, and there wasnt an evil cause for it, it was actually kind of a good stroke of luck that saved his life! So its all kinda more of a metaphor for how its easy to feel "broken" or "not human anymore" when you suffer a great trauma, or become mentally or physically disabled. And how thats not really true, you're still you and its just that society exerts stigma upon people who "can't ever be fixed" into being "normal". The message is kinda gonna be that even if you have something in your life that left its scars on you, even if it'll never go away, it doesnt make you any less of yourself and any less deserving of love. So this would be shown by Errol fearing that he'll become a mindless beast while showing no signs of it being true, getting obssessed with finding this "cure" even when it'll hurt himself in the process, and trying to find some sort of villain or cause or way to personify the illness as separate from himself as something evil. (I.e those "i am autism i will make it impossible to talk to your child, uwu u can defeat me by feeding your child bleach" ableist commercials...) And then in the end his worst fears are realized, there is no magical solution at the top of the mountain and the person he cares about the most has found out about his secret. But really none of his fears came true, because Beau accepts him, confesses his feelings and the two of them start piecing their life back together again and finding new hope for the future. Even if that future still happens to contain things like having secret bat wings!

(Oh and also Beau isnt completely a sattelite character he has his own different traumas and life problems and ways they get brought out into the open and counteracted by the power of love and acceptance. Its just that since errol's side of the thing is slightly supernatural it was easier to talk about in the hero's journey framework)

I would like to know what health insurance company is my primary. I had health insurance through my previous employer. I worked until the 6th of the month and I was told I had coverage through them until the end of the moth. My new job health insurance went into effect on the 1st of that month so for one month I had 2 coverages. Getting a car insurance even if you don't have a car?

I am 17 years old and turning 18 in 2 months. I have a permit in the state of New Jersey. Last Sunday, I made a small car accident. It was just few scratches on the other person's rear bumper. Anyway, the guy from an insurance company told my parents that I have to get an insurance as soon as i get my license even if I don't get a car. My parents can't afford to buy me a car anyway so I was planning to drive their car since I wouldn't have to get an insurance if I drive their cars. But the guy is telling me that I HAVE to get an insurance whether I'm getting my car or not. I have never heard of these things before. Can anybody explain to me why I have to get an insurance even if i am not getting car? And also, is there any other way I can solve this problem other than not getting a license? Because they're saying that the only way is not to get a license 'till I turn 21. And It would cost my parents way too much if i get my license. I mean I'm not even getting a car! Progressive auto insurance problem !?

I need an opinion on what should i do in this case. 3 weeks ago , as I was driving home , on the freeway , from the truck in front of me fell big peace of ice and hit my car from underneath. Less than 1 minute later i noticed blue smoke behind , luckily there was and exit with gas station right there. By the time i pulled up to the gas station car was barely moving. After staying parked for 20 min , it leaked oil and tranny fluid . I called towing , had them pick the car up , called progressive made the claim. All of that happened in WI near Milwaukee , before i used to leave in Chicago , so I never dealt with progressive from WI. After couple days adjuster came out and gave shop 1100$ to start the repairs , shop diagnosed everything and came to a conclusion that its the transmission leaking because of the damage inside. Adjuster was extremely slow to give shop any kind of approvals to do anything , So after 3 weeks they finally allowed them to take transmission apart , another adjuster came out took pictures , then shop owner want around , called me and said that he will call me next day. Next day shop owner calls me asking if I heard anything from progressive ? I call that guy back , but he went on vacation. Call my first adjuster , she says that the guy who went on vacation concluded that it wasn't related to impact , so they wont pay for anything and I owe 500 for taking down transmission. I called shop owner right away asking if its possible , not being related to impact , he says of course not , otherwise your car wouldn't break after impact. He also said some technical explanation what caused it to break , i just don't know what. he also said that no one ever called him and asked him what was the cause if that. I dealt with progressive in Chicago twice , when i lived there , and i had greatest experience ever , but it seems that in Milwaukee , they are playing games , making me pay , and not taking responsibilities. I figured somebody might know what should I do in this case , I just want them to do what they should do , especially when Im paying 200$ a month.""

I called and they said nothing has changed in our policy. They told us because the dates our policy renewed we have an extra bill in this cycle. So they had to charge us more so we wouldn't have to pay 2 bills in 1 month. I am so confused it seems like were making an extra payment for nothing. whatever happens, ONE of these rivals has a route where they join the evil team. this, this is canon. one of these fuckers joins the bad guys. alright. we’re square. the fucks with the other guy

like, alright. if you treat the first guy well, they stay on your side as a good friend. you treat them ehhh, s’aight, they’re an acquaintance, aint going out their way to help you. treat em like shit, and they join the evil team with the direct intention of fucking up your shit. goes good. goes great. fantastic.

so, THE OTHER GUY. whats up. same basic set up. treat well, friend. treat aight, acquaintance. treat shit, enemy. alright. now, the idea of them have an essentially opposite progression - where if you treat them WELL, they join the Org - is kinda neat. like, you treating them nicely inspires them, i suppose. puts the fire cracker up their bum and sends them off into the world to do good. whereas if youre an ass? they simply dont participate. like they just dont interact with you past a certain trigger point, just like how after a certain threshold is passed, your rival is going to be in the Team no matter what. many thresholds. and that could work? i dont see why it couldnt.

what would be the effect, though? like, for the Team guy, the effect of these things changes the amount of battles you have in some of the story moments, since pissing them off has them join the team and fight you. would treating the Org guy nicely instead remove a battle? like, ok, the way it works is that the ‘base’ is a neutral route, in which the Org and Team rivals are just chill. admittedly in the neutral route the Org guy participates, but thats down to innate character so whatever. point is. in neutral/neutral combo route, lets say there are 10 fights. if you piss of the Team guy, this rises to 11 fights, assuming the Org guy is neutral/pissed. if the Org guy is your FRIEND, meanwhile, the base 10 goes to 9 (OR LESS???) are they talk some grunts down from fighting you. these would be at different sections of the ascent, of course. the Team additional fight comes in Rhia/Elliot’s route climax, whereas the Org lesser fights would come in its lead up, as you enter the tower. ooh, actually, that could be it. You work your way through the city in chaos to reach the tower, and once you do, friend!Org will appear at the door to let you in, negating a confrontation at the door. you still have to fight as you work up, but the immediate fight at the door is removed by Org. thats kinda neat, i think?

plus then there are other benefits/bad times for each permutation, independent of each other. friend!team accompanies you up the tower, presumably healing your pokemon. bearing in mind that in the tower, you are ALSO accompanied by Elliot. so maybe your pokemon are kept healed no matter what?? lets say thats the case. Elliot keeps your pokemon healed. so what does friend!team do? perhaps there are a few double battles on the way up, which otherwise you’d do alone (meaning Elliot is doing something else, like maybe fighting off someone else who appeared, etc). or, at least specifically in that Room Where Shit Occurs, theres almost definitely a double battle, possibly multiple! which youd have to do alone without team (because this time elliot is definitely preoccupied, as the grunts were given VERY SPECIFIC instructions to fuck with him), but if team is there, then bam! you’ve got a buddy! nice.

neutral!team doesnt appear at all in the tower sequence. they COULD be out in the city, but it would be minor at best and not really mentioned, or they’d be at home, safe and sound. and, of course, enemy!team is in the tower sequence and offers a mini boss battle during the Room of Horrors, where they fight you solo after your double battles. itd actually be a kinda grueling gauntlet. sounds kick ass. im into it.

friend!org, of course, is at the door to the tower, lets you in, negating boss battles. they do NOT accompany you up the tower, however. because their ‘arc’ is focused more on them impacting others, rather than impacting you, if this makes sense. uh....... ooh, or maybe they actually help you throughout the city. if the ‘10′ fights include fights on the streets, those are the ones removed, rather than the fights in the tower itself. they basically escort you to door and says ‘good luck, stay safe, im gonna stay out here and help people!’ and off they go! cya, friend. and if you actually backtrack, the fights they stopped will stay stopped - it wasnt one time. they totally disabled those fights. i THINK that works? though the people on the streets should be Team members...... though Org likely has no idea theyre the same org, only that shits gonna batty. maybe what they did was they’d actually been fighting those trainers after hell broke out at the tower?? yea, that’d be it! like, you leave the pokemon center and work your way towards the tower, and you’d encounter friend!Org fighting a team grunt, then coming over to you and explaining that they’re holding everyone off and that the route to the tower is clear, even though they don’t really want you to go there. but they send you on your way with wishes of luck and some curatives, and then they rush off into the city to fight more Team Grunts and help more people. godspeed, ya bastard.

neutral!org.... doess.... hmm. theyre still in the city, i think, because its in their nature to help others (unless youre a cunt, but we’re getting to that). but they havent fought off the trainers. instead, they’re at the pokemon center, maybe guarding the door or just inside with some younger people keeping them in check, smth like that. you chat, they wish you luck, but no items. off you go, buddy.

enemy!org is just not there. they just are not present. not at all. the idea HERE being that their default nature is to help others, and that by you treating them like dirt, they get this idea that people are ungrateful and dont deserve help. as such, enemy!org is off sulking at home. probably posting platitudes on twitter and doing jack shit. good on you.

i THINK those two arcs generally work. with both, they have a ‘default’ nature, them without having met you. for org, is that they like to help people. by being nice to them, you encourage this worldview and they take it to a higher level, joining the Organisation and directly helping you in the tower sequence by making a clear path to said tower. by being mean, you give them the idea that people are ungrateful and undeserving, and they go off and sulk and are just generally kinda bitter. for team, its that they think you’re ok. by being nice, they think youre Really Cool and want to help you succeed! they wanna see you achieve your dreams! by being mean, they think youre a Righy Cunt and want to destroy your dreams.

team does seem pretty shallow there.... there is more to both, of course, its just their routes revolve around these specific aspect. for instance, org is almost definitely a naive character, perhaps an out of towner. team, contrarily, is a little more worldly and their view of the world is more stabilised - its their view of INDIVIDUALS that can be altered. so orgs view of society is altered by your actions (they see you as a sort of rep for it all), while teams view of individuals is changed. thats the difference. i like that.

now, which one is which. is your Rival org, or team? if the other player team, or org??? hmmm.... well, a naive rival who grows more worldly has sorta already been done, with Wally specifically. so on that front, having Rival be the team one is more interesting to me. on the other hand, having a more neutral character whose sole big changes are player based makes more sense for the other player, and them going the Team is frankly really interesting as a sort of fulfilment of player dreams. mmm.... on the other hand, the other player being org keeps them as a more neutral force on the story, akin to a character like Ethan/Lyra, which leaves room for the Rival (silver/hugh) to breathe. minimises the other player as a character while not completely removing them and keeping them as part of your starter set squad. i kinda like that? that feels like a better way to deal with the other player character. i guess actually what’d really compare to is Brendan/May and Wally, except that in this case you meet brendan/may and wally at the same time rather than slightly staggered. but brendan/may still falls off the map in terms of actual rivalry towards the end to be replaced by Wally. in this case, no matter what, Rival is still your rival, its just the CONTEXT for them fighting you is different. in friend!rival they fight you to improve you. in enemy!rival, they fight you to fuck you up. nice! fucking nice.

i think i prefer that. Rival joins the team, ‘Alex’ joins the org. i dig it. also they wont be called Alex, since now they can be two ‘separate characters’ who are largely interchangeable but with minor changes. whereas if they were like a gym leader or elite they’d need to be REALLY interchangeable to make shit easier. im into it.
