Building off all the threads in the cover art for the chapter, Kohane’s appearance here gives a similar vibe. We keep seeing her from the side (interestingly, looking towards the direction Watanuki is approaching from), and in her panels she’s framed by a similar cascade of her hair, but bisected by the eyepatch she’s wearing, closing off her appearance as if trapped in a net. Even as she’s resolving to play her part here, she is as trapped here as she always is in her life, cornered by all the different threads with all their expectations of her, leaving her with no room to escape.

And when we see her from the front she’s SO SMALL. She’s just a small, injured child, sitting alone on the stage, in the middle of a spotlight, surrounded by darkness, with the lines of the curtain once again echoing the idea of a trap. Between the eye patch and the sling there’s hardly any of her left visible to us - as there’s barely any of HER left at all - and even the small shred of her honesty is now being taken away from her as well, until she is only a puppet who says what people want to hear and nothing more. 

And still, her mother watches it happen.

The butch lesbian/trans man "funky printed button down" stereotype is true but you must understand that the men's section of so many clothing stores is a bleak and miserable place. Clothing manufacturers are simply convinced that no one who wears men's clothes wants anything besides the most boring outfits possible. Often stripes are the most exciting it gets. If you want to wear clothing designed for men but happen to like "color" and "joy" in your life then often the funky printed button down or the hawaiian shirt are simply your only options, especially off the clearance rack.

SCRIPTURE:

God, you are my God; I eagerly seek You.  I thirst for You;  my body faints for You  in a land that is dry, desolate, and without water.  ~ Psalm 63:1 

OBSERVATION:

Does eagerly - enthusiastically - impatiently, fervently - accurately describe my seeking?

Am I thirsty for - craving, strongly desiring, desperately needing - Him, His presence, His will?

"Seek ye first the Kingdom of God, and His righteousness..."

...and I will find Him...

...and never thirst...

APPLICATION:

Eagerly seek Him - and His Kingdom - first...

PRAYER: (Using/adding verses 2-8)

Refreshing Father God - I ask forgiveness for seeking my own wants and desires before realizing my need for You comes first and foremost... May Your Holy Spirit continue to remind me of and show me Your strength and glory, and lead me to glorifying You in word and actions because of Your faithful love... I will bless You as long as I live... lifting up my hands and offering joyful praise, rejoicing in the shadow of Your wings... following close to You in the ways Jesus did, seeking Your will over my own... In His Name, Father, and for Your worshipful honor...

Levi, the Cat's Sigh

Levi sighed heavily and closed his large eyes. He couldn't shake off the thoughts of his past life and the feeling of abandonment that had surrounded him since his stay at the shelter. The other cats around him seemed oblivious to his presence as he eagerly awaited a loving home. He longed for someone to fall in love with him and rescue him from this sad situation.

Suddenly, he heard faint voices in the distance. He perked up his ears and saw a young man and a woman approaching. His heart started to beat faster, mingling with the fear of further rejection. He pressed himself deeper into his corner, uncertain whether he should approach them.

The woman saw Levi and smiled gently. "Look, Levi, this is the little one we've heard about," she said, slowly kneeling beside his cage.

The man leaned forward and reached out his hand. "Hey, Levi, we've heard a lot about you, and we'd love to give you a loving home. Will you come with us?"

Levi could barely believe it. Had he really been lucky? He cautiously moved closer and sniffed at the outstretched hand. The man blinked at him and murmured reassuringly, "It's okay, Levi. We will never leave you."

The little cat felt the trust emanating from the two people and nudged his nose into the man's hand. "Yes, I'll come with you," he meowed softly.

The woman beamed with joy. "We already have a nice feline companion at home around your age, Levi. You'll surely get along well with him."

Levi purred with excitement. He could already envision himself frolicking with his new playmate. Finally, he wouldn't be alone anymore.

As the door of the cage was opened, Levi cautiously stepped out and allowed himself to be gently picked up by the two humans. He felt the loving caresses he had missed for so long and knew that he had finally found a home.

On the way to his new life, Levi turned to the two humans and meowed softly, "Thank you for rescuing me. I can't wait to be part of your family."

The man smiled and replied, "We're so happy to have found you, Levi. You'll never be alone again, I promise."

And so, a new chapter filled with love, security, and endless playfulness began for Levi. He would never forget how he had been rescued from the shelter and was determined to savor every day of his new life.

I had an idea for a one-off Rise episode plot and just wanted to quickly sketch up some visuals for it.

The plot goes as follows: Donnie attempts to invent a cloning machine and, due to some kind of science-y mishap, ends up cloning himself...a lot. But there's a catch to this - the clones aren't exact copies of Donnie, they each possess just ONE of the various facets of his personality (i.e. brainy, broody, sarcastic, passionate, dramatic, mischievous, etc.) and a small portion of his mystic powers. Don tries his darnedest to keep the whole situation under wraps while he searches for a way to fix it, but some of the more rambunctious Donnies quickly escape and begin stirring up trouble in the Lair, so it doesn't stay a secret for very long. To make matters worse - the real Donnie starts to slowly disappear (something having to do with his existence being divided among the Donnies or blahblahblah fake science explanation). So, while he and the scientist Donnies continue to look for a way to reverse the cloning effect, his brothers and Co. set to work gathering up all the other Donnies so they can put them back where they belong and keep Donnie Prime™ from vanishing.

Hilarity, wholesomeness (and some mild angst) ensues.
