Your essay on Joong's underrated acting skills deepened my Joong appreciation so much, that I watched Mafia the Series, I'm watching Ploy's Yearbook (even though there is a serious lack of Joong so far), and I'm planning on watching The Warp Effect too. I haven't watched het shows in over ten years, so this is a big deal! 😂 I really liked him with Dunk in their shows, but MTS gave me another facet of him, because he's so timid in it, unlike in SIMM and HA, where he's (seemingly) very cool and in control. i've adored them ever since simm which i watched live from ep2 onwards. fun fact, actually: when i started simm i actually had no idea who they were (even though technically i'd seen dunk in bad buddy already, except i wasn't paying attention to the random high school bandmates and so i didn't actually recognize dunk and only realized later on ahahah)

aaaanyway, i had no idea who they were, right? and so in 2022 my mom and i spent two nights in prague during easter and in the evening we were in our hotel room and we were kinda looking for something to watch. and i was like "hey look, gmmtv has a new bl out and it looks kinda cute and fluffy judging by the thumbnails?? and like something that doesn't require too much brain power?? plus, there's also only two eps out so far, so we'll be caught up right away" and so we watched the first two episodes and then the two of us ended up watching every new ep together every week hahaha

i actually didn't really talk about it on tumblr back then and when you go back on my blog you'll see that there are hardly any simm post. but really, with every new simm episode that aired i liked joongdunk more and more. and especially once the characters started dating i was actually so in awe about just how comfortable joong and dunk were with each other and how they absolutely weren't afraid to touch? like, their physical affection was just so casual, like it was the most natural thing in the world to them in an "i'm-not-even-thinking-about-it-bc-it's-so-normal" kind of way and that was just soooo refreshing to watch?? i was (and still am) truly amazed

and when just a couple of months later, at the end of 2022 gmmtv announced joongdunk were gonna get another show together i got SO excited!! and also when it was revealed that simm was included in our skyy 2!!!!

and then hidden agenda started airing and then i was tagged in that tag game and then i went to watch joong's entire filmography and then i ended up falling into a joongdunk rabbit hole and here we are...

anyway, i have multiple agendas and one of them is turning people into joong fans and dunk fans and joongdunk fans sllksdfd

and my other agenda is getting people to watch mafia the series, bc it's truly a gem of a show!!!!

Okay I haven’t made many posts with her included (which im gonna do 😂) but I LOVE Ayako

She’s very beautiful and i think in a way that’s unconventional compared to many mangas. Curly haired female characters are really uncommon in manga, so seeing a girl like ayako was really surprising. I think her features overall make her look really realistic. Like she looks morrocan or dominican, and the fact that she’s portrayed to be canonically beautiful makes it so that her features are portrayed in a positive light

Also she’s literally the backbone of the team? Part of why Miyagi stayed for hs basketball was because she encouraged the team so well. She’s been there since before the team was good, like how akagi and kogure were. And throughout the series, she gave the boys ALOT of support. Like girl was literally the one who taught Sakuragi the basics??

Sawakita is also very different from other sports manga rivals. I mean he gets made fun of by his own team, mf cries SM. He has fangirls and I think he treats them well (shown by how he wore a t shirt one of them gifted).

He’s not a bad person either, he even helped Rukawa up when he fell down. He was very encouraging towards his teammates too when he was benched. DONT EVEN GET ME STARTED ON HIS RELATIONSHIP WITH HIS PARENTS?? He’s so respectful to them, boy was out there thanking them for everything when he was drunk on a plane. Plus from his backstory, i think it shows he really loves his dad. Some yall mfs could never LMAOOO

I think his dynamic with Rukawa and Sakuragi too. He was funny asl with Sakuragi. And I like that Sawakita was part of what pushed Rukawa to improving as a player (as well as Sendoh). ALL THAT AND HES GOOD LOOKING???

Honestly he seems like such a chill person to be friends with?? He seems so open minded, i fr cant see him as the type to judge anybody or treat anybody badly. I think at his school everyone likes him for how down to earth he is (and his looks LOLLL)

GMMTV 2024 pt. 2 (Mostly) BL Prediction Thread

Predictions

JimmySea. And they DESERVE it. Listen, I was not a JimmySea truther until I saw them in Last Twilight. And while the series went downhill from me, and both Jimmy and Sea have some improvements they can make, it is clear is day they have talent and SPARK together. Their chemistry is different from any other pair I've seen. They give a very soft/comfortable vibe that's not really romantic but more like enduring and domestic. It's like two people who really trust each other come together in their pairing instead of a fleeting but passionate trounce. I really enjoyed them in the Last Twilight and I think the series did so well GMMTV won't hesitate to put them in something new.

PondPhuwin. They've been lying about going on hiatus for quite a while now and I'm no longer inclined to believe them. I haven't been too tapped in to them lately but it's clear by how much stuff they keep getting casted in and how overexposed they are that GMMTV sees something in them. I think they will either have another series as a couple or both star in the same series but not as a couple. But, at the very least, they'll continue to promote as a shipped couple with fanmeets/concerts/etc.

On that same note, one of them will definitely have a het series.

FirstKhao. Don't see a world where GMMTV's not looking at the success of SandRay and saying "yeah, run that shit back." They just have way too much fan support and forward momentum that it'd be weirder if GMMTV didn't have something for them.

Lead role for Tay in a non-BL. For every BL TayNew does, they do 20 non-BLs to offset it 😂. I think the success of Cherry Magic, even in spite of all the production woes, proves that there's still a demand for TayNew together, and Tay and New individually. And while I would not be shocked to see a TayNew BL, I feel like GMMTV has set a precedent of giving Tay and New a lot of variety in between their BL roles.

Het series for Joong/Dunk. At this point their overexposure seems like it'll continue, for better or for worse. But I do see a world where Joong gets a het series. I can see it slightly for Dunk too just from a novelty standpoint, but at the same time no competent showrunner is going to cast Dunk with no promise of the JoongDunk-stan gravy train. He just doesn't have the chops for that IMO.

KristSingto. Obvious to everyone in the room lmao. If they don't get a series I'll be genuinely shocked. The way the pillars are moving these days it's like the girlies saw what TayNew did and said "Lord (P'THa), what you did for them, I want that for me!" That said, I can just as easily see them in separate BL series...

GL featuring Jan or Ciize. I don't know how well 23.5 is doing altogether (can only go based on the YT views), but it doesn't really matter IMO. I think GMMTV will do one or two GLs a year just to keep their portfolio diverse until GLs take off like BLs did. And for that, I see them casting either Jan or Ciize (or both?) since they are the most exposed female actors in GMMTV's queer media.

Lead role for Mark Jiruntanin in a BL (though I don't think Junior will be his partner?). This is more of a dark horse preduction. I'm not going to pretend like his story was one of my favorite parts of Cherry Magic, but the way GMMTV has moved with him, I can totally see them re-pairing him with someone younger/newer and seeing how that goes. Purely from a visual standpoint, I almost want to see him with Sky Wongravee but that feels like a pipe dream...

MarkOhm. surely I don't need to explain this one lmao.

Gem to take a break from acting to focus on music, otherwise his first non-BL role. Weirdly, Gem and Fourth seem to be at a point where they can pretty much dictate what roles they will and won't take. I have a feeling Gem is going to try his hand at being a full-time singer since that seems to more so be his dream anyway.

Soft launch of SeaKing as a GemFourth replacement. The mere fact the Only Boo! exists tells me all that I need to know. Sadly, the trailer for Only Boo! left me (and others) completely disengaged. Like I do not care to watch that show AT ALL. It's a poor concept with acting that seemed severely unpolished. It COULD pull an MSP and actually be good, but I just don't see that being the case (especially since the main reason why MSP was so good was because of P'Au and its unique cast...).

WinnySatang*. Asterisk here because I'm not sure GMMTV sees it for them to have a lead couple role just yet. I wouldn't be shocked if they get the recent Marc Pahun and [REDACTED] treatment until they can prove their acting skills in We Are (in fact, I suspect GMMTV has been doing this with many of their couples since the flop of My Gear Your Gown). They're not a super popular ship so, like FirstKhao, they'll need to break out on talent alone (can't believe this is a real sentence I just wrote...like what is wrong with this industry).

EarthMix. Now THIS is a bold prediction lmao. I heard Earth and Mix were in their divorce era? Not sure if that's true but these two honestly deserve so much better. Mix has been hard carrying GMMTV's BL talent (along with Gun and Fourth) and I would hate to see him not have more of these stories to his name. The hype for Moonlight Chicken was through the roof, but, unfortunately, Aof did what Aof does best and ruined the viewing experience like halfway through. I know they have that Ossan's Love remake allegedly happening within the next 2 years, but GMMTV is known for fucking up distribution of Japanese remakes, so I just don't think that's the best use of these two.

Only Friends 2: Electric Boogaloo. This was actually teased in the finale of Only Friends. But if they do this, I pray they don't bring back TopMew and minimize SandRay to focus on Nick and the new characters. Still, the status of this show could be up in the air given all the bs going on behind the scenes while the show was airing and months after...

We pray for:

An actually good series that's good from Episode 1 all the way to Episode 12/14. This would likely require some highly specific combination of story selection (something original with strong themes and consistently interesting plot), spectacular directing (P'Au or P'Nuchy only ATP), BUDGET (GMMTV, give this what you'd give Bright/Win in a het role), and acting (always love Gun but he stays casted, so would love to see some more for Fourth, Inn, First, some of the other newer folks, etc.). This is asking a lot because, honestly, no BLs have delivered this since...Linger?...but if GMMTV is smart, they'll see what some of the fan favorites did and recreate that.

On that same note, a period piece. I'm not sure how it'll work on a GMMTV budget, but I need Ayutthaya-era Thailand, with a deep and complex story.

Perth getting another screen partner. I THOUGHT PerthChimon was going to be very interesting since Perth is a good actor and Chimon is not too shabby as well. I neglected to consider that Chimon would so abhor kissing anyone that Kanghan looked like he was trying to violate a corpse in any of their kissing scenes. I demand that Perth gets re-paired with someone who actually wants to star in a romance.

(Not because of anything having to do with Gemini), I just want to see Fourth try another pairing, particularly with someone whose acting is out of this world. Unfortunately, I just cannot think of someone from the new crop who is not Gem who will be able to match Fourth's talent. Like, we haven't seen Chokun or Java actually act yet so it can't be either of them. As for Mark J., I don't think his acting is at Fourth's level. And I don't think Fourth would match First's energy well... It's just difficult to see who would complement Fourth in a role when so few people are at his level.

this is a really stupid rant but i don't feel like i can post it anywhere else without starting shit and being a problem because a lot of people i talk to adore him but,

i really heavily dislike tommy hagan. he's annoying, he's an asshole, he's a terrible friend for a lot of reasons and remains that way because he's a side character who doesn't need to be anything more than that. which is why i feel like i have a right to dislike him. i write him in my fics as an asshole and a terrible friend because that's in character for him;

it's not like people writing billy as this violently abusive person because they take him in early s2 at face value. that's just willful ignorance about his character and wanting to look good because it's a thing to hate him lately (not to say people can't dislike billy, but it's irritating when he's twisted into something he isn't for the sole purpose of character bashing).

but the whole point of tommy being in the show is to be part of steve's shedding his toxic high school persona and growing as a result. we don't get shit else about tommy, so i don't care about his backstory or home life, and frankly i don't want to know lmao. i'm just annoyed because i feel like i can't dislike him even though he's in the show to dislike.

ATLA rewatch thoughts, Book 2 (ep 15)

15) The Tales of Ba Sing Se

Toph and Katara: This is a cute story about Toph and Katara bonding over a girls’ day out (and dunking some mean girls in the canal lol). It’s also a story about Toph’s insecurities. As Katara says near the end, Toph is strong, confident, and self-assured. But even though Toph says she doesn’t need anyone’s approval, what people think about her still matters to her. Katara sees this and gives her friend the encouragement and friendship in just the way she needs.

Iroh: When Iroh is buying a basket in preparation to honor Lu Ten’s memory: “No, it's not a romantic picnic, but it is a special occasion.” MY HEART 😭 He spends his part of this episode sharing his wisdom and being kind to the strangers around him. At first, it seems like we’re getting a closer look at the reformed soul that the FN general and FL’s brother has become. But his story ends with him honoring his dead son. This isn’t a story about the wise and caring person that Iroh has become - what we are seeing is his redemption in action. The first thing he says to Lu Ten’s portrait is “If only I could have helped you.” And then he sings Leaves From the Vine, which sounds like a song about young men who grow up and leave home to fight, and about the same young men who fall in battle and “return” home. I think Iroh means more than “I wish I could have kept you from dying in battle.” His perspective on life and the war have changed dramatically in the years since he lost Lu Ten, but they also continue to change during the course of ATLA. I think that Iroh helps the people around him to help make the world a better place because that is his biggest regret about himself and Lu Ten - that he walked the path of violence and bloodshed and destruction and raised Lu Ten to do the same, and they both paid the price, with Lu Ten losing his life and Iroh losing his throne and his son. Iroh is living out his redemption as well by trying to be the father to Zuko that he couldn’t be to Lu Ten.

Aang: I love how Aang the Air Nomad, who flies free as the wind, wants to give the zoo animals a place where they won’t be cooped up in cages anymore. Also: “Don't worry, I'm great with animals” and “This was so much easier in my head.” 🤣  I loved the airbending and earthbending too and just all the chaos in general 😂

Sokka: Sokka barging in on a ladies’ haiku club meeting and getting into a 1v1 with the teacher! ‘Nuff said. So many burnnnnns lmao

Zuko: Ahhh, Zuko’s infamous date with Jin. HE’S SUCH AN AWKWARD DWEEB LMAO 🥲 And damn, Jin sure put up with a lot and still was into him (how?). “You have ... quite an appetite for a girl.” rip 💀 But at the end, Zuko actually does something genuinely sweet - he lights the lamps at the Firelight Fountain. And while he’s firebending, Sun Warrior music is playing. This is one of the few times (only time?) in ATLA that Zuko firebends to bring joy and life and not destruction. And then of course Jin kisses him (and he kisses back) and he says “It’s complicated. I have to go.” Oops, dramatic Zuko is back 💀

Momo: Momo misses Appa so much that he dreams about him and sees him everywhere 😭 Also the way he made friends with the scary panther cat things 🥺 Also HOW are there scary panther cat things roaming the streets of a city???? I guess that’s what the animal catcher is for 💀 AND THE WAY THE EPISODE ENDS WITH MOMO CURLING UP IN APPA’S PAWPRINT 😭👀👀👀

Hello! Im back with my third silly little story heh.

There was this one time when i was in a youth group meeting. It had ended so I was sitting at a table eating some snacks my myself when a little girl, she was probably 12 or so, walked up to me. I don't even remember seeing her come up to me, all I remember was that I was mid drink when she asked me something along the lines of "So you like donnie, huh?" I was caught off guard, so much so that I almost had a spit take and started choking on my drink. She had said this in a "I know your secret" type voice that made it extra hard to compose myself. I could feel myself getting flustered and my face getting warm because like... what?! No context, says it in a suspicion tone, puts extra emphasis on the word "like", it felt like she cornered me! 😭 My brain was reeling from the sudden question about donnie , of all people, that it physically hurt and all I could say was "What?? Who told you that???" All loud and stupid lmao I practically admitted to my crush unintentionally with my nervous behavior as i didn't deny it and it she totally knew it because she just kept pressing on about Donnie, asking why I like him and some other Donnie related stuff that i cant remember. It was kinda intense because she would not leave me alone! 😩 Or at the very least let me change the subject!! I would try to walk away but she just ended up following me around the building. At some point I asked her how she knew that i even liked him, and she responded that my mom told her. In my brain i was like bro what the fuck!! This makes TWICE that she randomly mentions me liking Donnie to people!! At the end i was able to escaped to one of the rooms in the very back of the building and had to tell that same friend about what had happened bc i fr felt like i was going to explode out of sheer embarrassment.

I kinda hate how easily i get worked up and embarrassed when people bring up donnie lol Its usually just my friends teasing me and sometimes stuff like this happens, it's not ever that serious lol but ohh goddd, I just cannot handle it! Im simply too in love with him and my little heart cannot take it any of it!!

So yea, this is my last silly little story, of sorts. Kinda hit long again and is pretty silly lmao but yea! Thank you for reading! :3

It occurred to me while I was braindumping for an ask @livingthewritelife-things sent me, I mention my OCs Team Cerberus (Brutus the Bulldog, Dinah the Spaniel, Carlisle the Terrier), and so instead of making that answer even longer I should explain them on a separate post. Because there's too much about my chaos puppies 😂😂😂

Okay, so, I think I've mentioned before that I headcanon Jewel rents out her museum as an event space, and one of her reoccurring renters is Prof. Pickle, who rents it out to host the Archaeological and Geological Society Dinner where all of his other archaeology and geology professor buddies get together for food, drinks, and to swap stories?

One of Prof. Pickle's closest buddies is Prof. Horne, who is the archaeology professor at Seaside City Academy (I made Seaside City into a college town, LOL). Picture your standard old man mountain goat, he wears the spectacles perched on his nose, hobbles about with a cane, and tells the same story about six times in a row because his memory's going and he forgot he told you already LOL. But he's a brilliant archaeologist.

He has three apprentices, Brutus, Dinah, and Carlisle. They were the children of two of his best students (that he went full matchmaker on and got together, because he thought they were a cute couple and the only thing Horne loves more than archaeology is getting into other people's shit LMAO), who had unfortunately died during a dig in Holoska. Eggman triggered an avalanche there, and the two were buried alive under the snow. 😳 The second Horne heard about this (and that the kids might get split up!), he swept in and adopted them.

Brutus the Bulldog is the oldest (18 in games/IDW canon). He cameoed in chapter 1 of WtDMtN, as you guys might recall, so I won't bother describing him again. He's an intelligent jock. Sometimes the meat head in him takes over, but he's a smart guy. He's a laid-back, casual guy. He's also quite infamously a flirt. Dinah and Carlisle joke that if it has a pulse, is legal, and can consent, Brutus will take a shot at it. He rarely succeeds though, but he just shrugs it off and never tries again when rejected, so it doesn't seem to bother him too much. There's also what Dinah and Carlisle call the Brutus 1-2 Special: He'll meet a couple, hit on one of them, get rejected, and then instantly try to hit on the other one, somehow unaware they are an item. This is usually met with Carlisle laughing at him, and Dinah yelling at him to "read the room".

Dinah the Spaniel is the middle child, (16 in the games/IDW canon.) and the leader of Team Cerberus (because she's the best at navigating through professional/academic discussions, trust me, you don't want Brutus or Carlisle doing those parts!) She's a white spaniel with large wire framed glasses. She usually dresses quite academically: button up blouses, skirts, little pumps. She trades this for a pair of coveralls and combat boots on an actual dig site though. Dinah is brilliant, definitely the most intelligent of the three. She usually keeps to herself, but if you connect with her on any of her special interests, you'll unlock how fucking crazy this girl can get. "Oh hey, let's sneak out of this party, grab some climbing gear, and scale up the side of Spagonia's clock tower!" Levels of nuts. She also dunks on her brothers a lot.

Carlisle the Terrier is the baby. (12 in games/IDW canon) and he loves to tinker with tech. His specialty is lasers, and he insists everything can be improved by sticking a laser on it. His dream is to convince Sonic the Hedgehog to let him strap a laser to him. (Cue Dinah facepalming in the background.) His stuff explodes and goes haywire a lot, which earned him the nickname "Carlisle the Terror" from his siblings. He's also just a cringe teenager at times. He's more up to date on pop culture and memes than his siblings, and routinely will just say shit that will cause them to just stare blankly at him and then keep going.

Brutus and Dinah are training to be legitimate archaeologists (with Dinah specifically training to be Horne's successor, as Brutus only likes the digs and can't STAND the academia side of things, but Dinah enjoys both.) Carlisle isn't into archaeology, he considers himself to be more of an inventor, but he makes himself useful keeping their equipment in peak condition and inventing new things for them to use.

Anyway, blah blah blah, Sonic Unleashed happened, Horne heard all the nitty gritty details from Pickle, and his reaction was "You know, someone really ought to be getting all of the artifacts that would be dangerous in the hands of someone like Eggman.", and shifts his apprentices' training to go more in that direction.

Thus Team Cerberus was formed. They travel the world hunting powerful artifacts, and hiding them somewhere Eggman wouldn't think to look. And they end up hunting down some CRAZY shit. First time Patience (who winds up apprenticing under them in the future) Goes with them on a dig, they're looking for the fucking Necronomicon. Team Cerberus does not fuck around with their job.

Couple more notes about them:

-None of them made it all the way through the Metal Virus. Horne stayed behind when it first broke out because he's a slow, hobbly old man who was going to hold his apprentices back. Brutus sacrificed himself getting his sibs off campus, and Dinah sacrificed herself to get Carlisle out of the city. Carlisle made it all the way to Restoration HQ, but was infected when HQ fell.

-Team Chaotix knows them! They hired the detectives a couple times, and the detectives occasionally reach out to them when they encounter something the archaeologists would know about. They've been surprisingly useful contacts to them.

-They also know the Babylon Rogues! The Rogues hire them occasionally to translate and appraise shit they've stolen (that they can't translate and appraise themselves.) Team Cerberus doesn't give a shit how they got their hands on this stuff, but any time the Rogues end up with something dangerous Dinah buys it off them right there and then, usually for more than she appraised it for. Carlisle wants to put lasers on Extreme Gear, which Wave refuses to do because she's pissed she didn't think of it first.

-Dinah has a very shaky professional relationship with Clutch the Opossum. He also has her appraise and translate artifacts he's unfamiliar with, because she never asks how he got this stuff. Unlike the Rogues, Dinah doesn't tell him when he winds up with something dangerous, she just anonymously purchases it off of him for more she appraised it for later. If Clutch is aware she's the anonymous buyer, he doesn't care... But he would care if he knew she's from Team Cerberus and she's buying the dangerous stuff off of him. Because he could make far more money selling that stuff directly to Eggman...

-They don't know Team Dark (unfortunately, Carlisle and Omega would be a hilarious combo!), but they know GUN. Tower left them to their own devices, but Wilson insists they should be handing over all the dangerous artifacts to them instead of hiding them. Any orders he sends to them demanding they do so are usually met with "Fuck off." Translated into a one of the many languages Dinah and Brutus knows, so let's leave it at they don't exactly see eye to eye...

-We're going to see them meet Jewel and start their relationship with the Restoration in the epilogue of WtDMtN! Through "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" logic (referring to GUN), they give Jewel a copy of the list of what is hidden where. It's written in code though, so Jewel can't read it. Dinah has fed Espio and Wave information about how to translate the code without them realizing it, so if they were to ever see it, they'd realize they could figure it out. Carlisle also just told Charmy how the code works, so hilariously he could figure it out faster if he got to see it.

-Once Patience comes into the picture, and she starts taking a huge interest in archaeology, Jewel introduces her to Prof. Pickle, who instantly pulled Dinah in to talk to the kid too. Dinah was VERY impressed with Patience, and gave her her email, and after a month of exchanging enthusiastic emails about archaeology with the kid, invited Bark and Jewel out to dinner to discuss her taking on Patience as her apprentice. Which, after a lot of thinking and worrying about it, they do allow. While Team Cerberus would never endanger Patience, the apprenticeship does have quite a bit of "don't tell your parents" energy to it. Looping back to the Necronomicon, Dinah let Patience hold it and leaf through it a bit (BUT NOT READ IT ALOUD!!!), to give an example.

I definitely was expecting a het show for one or both of gem4th, but since the lineup's in 2 parts, it would make sense to save that for the 2nd installment (can already see the delulu fans not being too keen on it... gemini hung out with bimbeam recently and some people on twitter were.. yeah 😬) hopefully we get my love mix up soon after to kinda calm that 😂 (and then i'm completely wrong and we get another gem4th show 👀 i wouldn't be opposed either)
