So anyway Ducktales 2017 is super fun for me because I'm literally exactly like Louie except I have a deep-rooted fear of becoming him because I live in reality and not a mansion-

There's satisfaction for him in finding loopholes, putting together the pieces in various situations, and being the strategist, but at the same time he can't think too much about the future or he'll stress out (given the fact the creators of the show confirmed Louie is like this because he grew up poor and took on a lot of that pressure emotionally, I assume that's part of why he doesn't plan for his future, but anyway-).

For him, that means coming up with strategies and tactics in the moment, on adventures. For me, that means finding ways to carefully integrate fictional characters and OCs into established worlds, analyzing things and picking them apart. Either way, we're not planning ahead all that far, both trying to escape reality.

And he's smart. Like, REALLY smart. But he's insecure about it because he's not book-smart in a family that really values book-smart. His family never really makes him feel bad for not being their kind of smart, just for the actions that stem as a result of it (his schemes, for example). You can tell they don't understand how he thinks, except Della (i, too, have a parent who gets me and a parent who does Not), and he has a lot of emotionally vulnerable moments with her because of that.

He only lets down his guard and genuinely connects with people he really feels get him, even though he's very eloquent and perfectly capable of casual connections with almost anyone. Same. I'm deeply, almost self-damagingly empathetic- my emotional attachments are a point of great vulnerability for me. I've chosen to embrace that vulnerability and the closeness and care it can bring me, but that's not a very natural choice for Louie like it is for me.

A lot of society only really seems to value "math-smarts", like what Huey has- more rigid intelligence, strong memorization of facts and figures, and being adept with numbers if you're lucky. But Louie has "language-smarts". Flexible, adaptable to different situations, but wow you don't come off as smart most of the time when you're this kind of smart. I was reading at a 12th grade level in 3rd grade- I know for a fact I grasp the English language at an abnormal level. But that intelligence really isn't applicable in a lot of situations, and I 100% recognize the form of lacking-self-esteem that comes with it- the form Louie shows consistently in season 2. For him, his linguistic, flexible, imaginative intelligence comes out as strategizing, lying, and scheming. For me, it comes out as quick, easy storytelling/writing with friends.

We share an ability to see patterns others don't while missing the patterns others do see.

Our kind of intelligence comes with this- very basic level of practicality. I hate sports because they seem unnecessary, over-hyped. I don't want to do a lot of very societally normal things because they seem convoluted and not necessary for happiness. I engage with television and movies because I find the construction of story and characters fascinating.

It all makes me feel like I'm lazy or can't ever do enough because I just... don't have an interest in a lot of things that people think one should. It's like- there's this level of intrinsic, constant self-awareness and practicality in me, to the point where I feel incapable of engaging with anything that doesn't interest me.

Combine that mentality with the burnout and emotional strain of being under severe financial pressure your entire life and, more specifically, not being able to do anything about it or get out of it- so why try to do anything at all? -, and bam, you get Louie Duck. He's motivated by money because to him money = comfort, and comfort = safety.

I also started consciously knowing what it'd be like and feel like when my childhood ended at something like- age 15 or 16. I was desperate to cling to the freedom, the lack of responsibility, the privilege of a safety net- for years. I see some of that in Louie too.

Oh, and of course Bobby Moynihan sold it. Really just went all in on giving Louie depth and feeling, 10/10 incredible performance-

Point is, it's cool to see someone who thinks like me actually portrayed pretty accurately onscreen. Thanks @suspendersofdisbelief :)

Sometimes antis are so weird bc in their eyes any minor x adult (like any age gap at all. I suspect they'd even hate on ships w like a two or three year age gap that minor x adult applies to) is way more likely to be unethical if it were IRL (seeing as how they always act like fiction is just like if it happens irl),

but at the same time they ship a 10 year old and 15 year old character when that particular age gap would not be ethical if it happened irl... (Literally in the Ducktales 2017 fandom they ship Webby x Lena who are these ages then turn around and slander someone who supposedly makes nsfw of another character in the show who's under 18, as if what they're shipping wouldn't be harmful if it happened IRL lol..)

I've definitely seen antis moralize over age gaps as insignificant as 17/19, which wouldn't even be immoral irl let alone fiction. I've never heard of that specific Ducktales 2017 discourse, I'm not familiar with the show, but I've seen similar situations where antis just... don't follow their own rules. A lot of anti discourse is just shipping wars that they decided to put a moral hat on to make it sound more important and make themselves look smart and superior. There's also a trend of antis apparently genuinely thinking their critical thinking skills are unique and special so they can do what they want with fiction while seeing the rest of the population as inferior child-minds who need authority figures to decide what fiction their weak brains can handle. It doesn't occur to them (or they actively ignore) that their critical thinking skills that make them able to separate fiction from reality are shared by most of the population. They wouldn't be special then!

Here, I'll share a little about the Multiverse of the DisneyVerse as I've formatted it xD

The best way to think of it is to picture the Realm of Magic as like, a sea full of water, with the magic being the water and each realm an islsnd floating in it. Each realm is it's own universe by right but it's also part of the larger Multiverse (very Woods Between the Worlds-y but with an Ocean)

(So when Sofia in Sofia the First is flying around seeing the Mystic Isles what she's really seeing is portals into different realms/things that can access those realms)

The two main worlds are Our World (the Disney-fied) verision at least) which basicaly follows our rules of reality and history but has some magic that leaks into it from the realms, and the Everrealm, where all of the Disney Princess movies that don't have an explicit Our World setting (ala Mulan, Hercules, PatF, BatB and Brave) take place.

There are places that link the two, where the borders between them have grown thin and things can leak through into one or the other. Maldonia and Arendelle and Belle's provence in France for example. They all sit on the border of both world (in a wibbly wobbly sort of way) and eventually may get pulled into the Everrealm proper as time passes on.

Then there are are several pocket dimensions that sort of float between those two major realms, brushing up against both of them. Places like Elvenhome, The Spirit World(s), the Plane of the Genies, Wonderland, Giantland, Oz, and Neverland to name a few.

Neverland particular is part of a fairly large sort of leak between Our World and the Everrealm that has resulted in the NeverSea, a nebulous place that houses the Neverland Archipelago, of which Neverland itself is the biggest island, and is directly linked to the portal of the Second Star to the Right. One can get to both Our World and the Everrealm from Neverland.

And besides these theres also a couple other worlds, such as the Anthropomorphic world that Robin Hood, Chicken Little and Zootopia all take place in, and the other Anthropomorphic world that Ducktales, GoofTroop and Mickey Mouse take place in xD

(Did a Mickey Mouse ancestor from said world get summoned into the Everrealm to serve as the apprentice to the Sorcerer Yen Sid? Maaayyybeeee?)

(And House of Mouse, Kingdoms Hearts and the Nightmare Before Christmas worlds are all their own delightful things that i'm not going to touch the fictional metaphysics of with a ten foot poll xD )

What happens if Louie was kidnapped by Quackerjack?

I dunno, there's really no reason for QuackerJack and Louie to have ever interacted in either canon

The only time in the 1991 continuity that I've seen QuackerJack be on the same page or scene as HDL is a cover of the 2011 crossover that's been wiped from canon ages ago, and comic cover events are very loose in canonicity anyway. 👀

For the 2017 Ducktales continuity, the only time Louie has any interaction with the Darkwing IP is either from indirectly being in the orbit of DT17!Drake or whatever DT17!Launchpad would be doing that's related to nostalgia towards in-universe DT17 spin in classic DWD, or the LGD episode where he sees Fictional!QuackerJack ((in relations to multiverse nonsense because this is just a in-universe character pulled from the alternate reality into the main reality that DT17 takes place in, like a... Dimensional Merge, for lack of a better term)) 👀

The triplet that has the most knowledge and experience with DWD adjacent stuff would be Dewey, as he's watched the program with Launchpad, has attended at least one event with Launchpad to meet Jim Starling, helped Launchpad make changes to the movie to better fit the tone, and has been in the hideout at least once and knows Drake Mallard is the new Darkwing.

So, I'd imagine if, for whatever reason, Louie ended up in QuackerJack's custody somehow, Louie would probably be able to sweet talk QuackerJack by offering "business advise" and drawing up ideas on the spot and making wild suggestions meant to be a distraction, but sounds almost too good to pass up on implementing into some of his projects, especially he's being told, by a kid, that kids are interested in whatever that is.

Then Dewey would have the best knowledge on how to play against QuackerJack's strengths and skills, and keep flitting between "Oh, this kid is interested in buying?" and "THIS ANNOYING BRAT WOULDN'T KNOW QUALITY TOYS IF IT BLEW UP IN HIS FACE.", while Huey would be the one to usher Louie out of the room.

QuackerJack has yet to figure out there's three of them because I'm pretty sure he's faceblind if he can't immediately tell the difference between Darkwing and Negaduck, and can't tell that the guy in the sweatervest with Darkwing's facial structure and frame, that disappeared before Darkwing showed up is in fact Darkwing.

I don't think he'd immediately figure out that Huey, Dewey and Louie are different kids until he sees at least two of them at the same time, because he's never been introduced to them before. So it's probably going to be a brief moment where he's like: "... Wait, didn't you have a hat a moment ago?" or "Did you change your hair or something?"

Actually, now that I think about it, the only two DWD adjacent villains Louie has directly interacted with was the DT17 versions of Taurus Bulba and Bushroot.

last series: The last series I FINISHED was The Ghost and Molly McGee, but I have a penchant for watching weird reality and competition shows from the 2000's. I started Beauty and the Geeks but didn't finish it.

last movie: Oh man, this is hard because I watch movies almost every night, even if I don't finish them. I love Rifftrax and that's the kind of feel-good thing I can put on at any time, even if I catch the movie in the middle or don't finish it. Honestly I do it so much I can't even tell you what the last one I finished was but I THINK it was the Rifftrax for The Last Airbender. It made that shitty movie waaaay funnier. Otherwise last night I started the Rifftrax for a movie called Terror at Tenkiller, but it was so boring even with the jokes I tapped out.

currently watching: I watch a lot of Rifftrax and YouTube mostly, I don't watch TV all that much. I like commentary YouTubers like Jarvis Johnson, Drew Gooden, Danny Gonzalez, Kurtis Conner, etc etc etc. There's a million of them. I also watch the occasional Let's Play, right now I'm watching Jacksepticeye play Poppy Playtime because I'm trying to decide if I like the game. (Currently, no.)

the slow realization when it clicks that cartoons will never make you happy the way they used to anymore because you, an adult, are not the target audience and hardly any adult cartoons are good at all, children cartoons are too black and white and sugary even when they do hold complexities because they are, by their very nature, meant to be simplistic and easily accessible so they can be enjoyed by most people, and most of the magic they once held for you is gone, leaving you only with the dying body of your love of fiction and the feeling that, after staying in that dreamlike state of wide-eyed adoration for so long, you are finally waking up

Someone else probably deconstructed the Rescue Rangers trailer better, but here’s my take

  -- I'm a bit tired of nostalgia-banking properties deciding they have to make as many meta jokes as possible to be entertaining and keep our attention. And they never stop themselves by just being meta about the property they’re borrowing from alone; they have to jump on everything we’ve seen a million times in the last decade. Dale became CGI so “topical” comments on modern CGI failures could get piled in, including Cats. Because another Cats joke is what we all wanted in a Rescue Rangers movie. Unless they say Fat Cat got turned into one of those things, it’s pointless.

  -- Instead of just continuing in the original fantasy world, for all these done-to-death cartoon meta movies, they always choose to make the characters really actors that played roles on the original movie/show (this movie reeeaaaallyyy wants to be Roger Rabbit) or by transporting them still in various cartoon forms to the real world, because studio execs don’t think the past audience that’s now grown up wants to buy tickets for an all animated world anymore.

  -- The meta of the gang’s glory days being sadly traded in for boring real world jobs doesn't quite work when we know Chip & Dale still have random gigs with Disney after the RR show. It hasn’t been consistent work, but they still popped up in tv shows and movies. Not to mention they’d get royalties from their faces continuing to be on countless Disney merch pumped out every month. Monty and Gadget I’d buy had to get a 9-to-5 because they haven’t been seen since, but Chip & Dale??

  -- Further greying their meta, in this “the show wasn’t real” world, they still kept Monty’s cheese addiction and doubled-down on the drug implications for laughs, because they couldn’t resist a joke so stale and dark. Haha, childhood fun!

  -- Again, instead of hiring the original voice actors, it’s celebrities. Just like with the Ducktales (and Darkwing) reboot, I guess studios want Names instead of talent that does this for a whole living. Same as with the Ducktales triplets, original voice quirks are deemed unsellable. I can’t wait for the day they decide Donald Duck should be voiced by Dwayne Johnson.

  -- Also, yeah, the lack of Gadget. It’s likely a big plot point, but that just means even the one regular girl character in the show is missing through all this. Big surprise the all-men writing team and director have given us an all-men focus. From a show where the girl might have been a token but she was always there and important. Nothing happens without Gadget. No one would get saved if her engineering skills and compassion weren’t there.

On a positive note, like with Roger Rabbit, there’s a lot of properties from other studios (that Disney doesn’t own yet) they got for this and that’s impressive. Maybe it’ll be better than the trailer makes it look. But I still would rather have a continuation of the Rescue Rangers world we knew. I’m tired of the barrage of pop culture takes shoehorned into a movie because some comedians wanted their chance to point and laugh for a paycheck. I’m tired of my kid memories being turned into cynical references to the bleak reality we’re faced with every day since we became adults. Nostalgia is nostalgia because we use the happy memories from a simpler time as an escape. 

Every time some jaded, ego-inflated male writer says “hey, what if your fictional friends from childhood were just normal everyday assholes?” we deserve compensation.

Of Moons, Millionares and Mothers: Part 14: GlomTales!: Cannae Top Louie’s Grand Plan to Beat that “Scotsman” (Patreon Review for WeirdKev27)

Hello all you happy people and welcome back to of Moons, Millionares and Mothers, my look at the complete season 2 arcs of Ducktales! And we’re at the goal line as we’re counting down our final episodes, leading up to the finale next week with Moonvasion, just in time for the show’s anniversary! But we’ve got two episdoes before that so let’s bring back the counter shall we?

And this counter is apporiate as unlike the seasons i’ts sandwitched between, each of the final three episodes of this arc and the season as a whole tie up one of the storylines. Glomgold does come back in a big way for the finale and Louie’s development coming full circle is just as crucial, making Moonvasion feel like wrap up not just to the della arc but to the season as a whole, But the arcs themselves had solid endings BEFORE that so the finale movie can focus purely on the moonlander invasion, finishing Della’s character arc and giving us a big, avengers endgame style finale to the season. This episode wraps up Glomgold’s bet while pushign teh Louie storyline to it’s conclusion. Granted Owlson will stick around for one more episode, as HER story arc isn’t finished, but we’ll get to that. We have to plots that come together, right now, over me, and unlike the last few times there isn’t any plot to get into BEFORE they split off naturally. Sooo....

Hate You, Hate You Both:

So yeah i’m getting the part of the episode that objectively sucks and brings this episode down entirely. 

Yeah i’m not remotely playing my cards close to my chest with this one. While Timephoon had issues the Louie plot here? Contender for worst of the season and it’s only not the worst of the series because we have “Launchpad: Too Stupid to Tell Fiction From Reality” and “Sasquatch Plot in the middle of a terrifying psychological horror story” So the show has had worse.. but my my my god this one still leaves a bad taste in my mouth and a rewatch only made it worse. 

So Louie is still grounded, with Della having hacked the wifi to have self righteous lectures from here instead of anything fun on Louie’s phone. Hope he dosen’t say have to call for help from an army of super villians. HOPE THAT DOSEN”T HAPPEN. 

Anyway the family is going on an adventure as usual, this time an easy breather one to the Big Rock Candy Mountain, which naturally is a real place, to have a vacation for once before the bet finishes. Yup the bet is almost due and Glomgold is trailing with no real hope of catching up in time. More on him soon. I’m counting the seconds. Louie expects he’ll get to go.. but Della dosen’t let him and he’s grumpy about it despite you know BEING GROUDNED AND HAVING NEARLY KILLED THEM ALL. 

Yeah this is our first problem, Louie has.. no shame for what he’s done. No repentance, no shred of feeling BAD or residual guilt. This carries over from last episode.. and that’s a problem in itself. They had a whole nother breakdown to correct this problem, have him maybe using his lack of guilt as a cover for the fact he actualy feels bad. His mood instead?

He just expects everything ot be fine after this and expects his mom to bend over. His emotoinal moments this episode fall flat because he did something ABHORENT that nearly wiped out history itself, and is just.. not at all bothered by it or remotely rattled and gets away clean from having ZERO guilt over almost loosing EVERYTHING. He felt bad in the moment but once it was clear there were no consequencs he was fine. And that’s REALLY bad. I THOUGHT Louie’s characterization issues started in season 3 but honestly rewatching his arc.. he dosen’t REALLY grow until the very END of it.. and that’s reset next season.  He really has learned absolutely nothing, each lesson just shaking of fhim like tefflon. 

It’s annoying enough when a character learns the same lesson again and again in a more episodic show but in this show character development STICKS. Webby slowly learns normal interactoin, Huey’s fear of the unknown is gone after “Terror of the Terra Firmians”, Dewey never leaves his brothers out of stuff the way he did. Lena slowly forgives hereslf for her past, Fenton learns to be a hero, Gyro learns to treat people better, Scrooge learns a ton of lessons and to actually remember who drake is. Things STICK in this series  normally so the fact Louie remains almost entirely the same REALLY bothers me. He’s not a bad character and Bobby Monnihan is talented... but for an arc entirely about his development nothing changes.

 In contrast Dewey learns the consequences of his selfishness, and that sticks, and Huey has TONS of development scattered across Season 3. While he’s not the most key player in the FOWL arc like we hoped, the show compensated by giving him tons of focus and a clear arc: peace by peace he grows to make peace with chaos. He accepted the unknown.. now he needed to accept the weird and oddness of his world and of life itself. The unpredictablity. And he did wether it was with wrestling, not being the best woodchuck in favor of his girlfriend, or in his own head. Huey CHANGED and while at first I genuinely thought my boy didn’t get a capper to his arc.. honestly he did. It’s just subtle.  His final major act in the series is saving his uncle.. by USING the ludicrious nature of the unvierse he’s in. By fully embracing it. He simply says “family is the greatest adventure of all”..  something that like Bradford says “makes no sense”.. but Huey gets now that sometimes the world DOSEN’T make sense, sometimes it is just plain weird.. and that’s okay. IN the end what seperates him from our big bad is Bradford refused to accept the world is weird, wonderful and diffrent.. and Huey did, and Huey won because of it. Louie.. is just a greedy dick and while his greedy dickery does win the day here, he dosen’t really feel lik ehe’s ever sorry for what his greed has done and the next time it bakcfires it’s soley on Louie himself so he never gets to. 

Now you’d THINK Della would also be sympathetic right?

Yeah no Della leaves her child with an unstable reporgammed DT-87 (the robot from day of the only child) that she HOPES won’t turn evil that zaps him any time it detects a scheme. There.. there is so much wrong in that one sentence it’s astounding. 

Okay first off GYRO built and refurbished the DT87. Gyro.. the guy who didn’t think to put a homing device in your rocket della. And the fact it wasn’t tested yet dosen’t excuse this: he built a full manual and as far as I can tell the only thing faulty on the rocket was the cosmic ray shielding fantastic four stylez. A guy who on a GOOD day usually makes about 5 or 6 ultrons to Hank Pym’s one, is petty and vengful and has every reason to hate your son after he stole his invention the other dayyyyyy, and nearly undid time with it. Your trusting HIM not to murder your child. 

I get not having most of their associates look afte rthem: With selene it’s not really kosher to ring up your ex to look after your kid, the cabs, fenton and most others they have at this point are too scamable, and most who aren’t are going with you on the vacation. But you had two VALID other options to babysit him without depriving Beakley or Scrooge of a vacation. Duckworth whose STILL in the manor and for NO REASON GIVEN dosen’t watch Louie or take care of watching his schemes himself, and thus creates a massive plothole in the “tourturing your son with a robot” subplot. And of course the biggest, most obvious one of all Della...

Yeah I do not get in the slightest why Della isn’t the one watching Louie. The ONLY reason he’s alone is for the plot later... and even that makes no sense.. just have him fake his defection still, but have it clear Della’s in on it or get she’s planning something. This plot would work better if Della, feeling responsible, stayed behind to make sure Louie stayed grounded. It’d also give more weight ot the mansion invasion..which has plenty but adding in them fighting one of the main heroes would make it so much more exciting. Instead.. Della leaves one of her kids home alone with a neglectful ghost and a possibly muderous robot.  This is easily the worst thought out thing she’s ever done nad yes i’m very much aware she shot herself into space with no planning , commuincations or backup because a creepy and suspcious old man told her where a rocket was.  Leaving your child to get murdered by a robot instead of watching him yoruself, something your other children would FULLY understand you having to do and only be a little bummed at your absence, really tops it, especailly since she’s had 10 years to grow th ehell pua nd.. not do this. 

So we get the payoff as Della wants him to stop scheming.. but Louie is worried it’s all he has. And i’d feel for him if I felt he had a soul at this point but everything in the last two episodes points to a big fat nope. It’s  GOOD character idea: that Louie Schemes because it’s what he knows and dosen’t know HOW to stop.. but it only comes up NOW and isn’t hinted at earlier... which dosen’t work when the premeir is BUILT aroudn Louie having an inner psychological issue tha’ts slowly hinted at. Here he just comes off as wanting to go on a vacation he didn’t earn till suddenly feelings. God I need a frigging break.. and thankfully i’m getting it as we can now get to the actually GOOD part of the episode

The Actually Good Part of the Episode:

So yeah about that bet. Back after that first scene and several hours ago, Glomgold breaks into the Beagle’s junkyard HQ and tries to get Ma’s help for a scheme, which already seems.. off. Glomgold NEVER relies on anyone who isn’t a shark in his schemes. If you look back their always done solo and even with Owlson h’es more mad she’s popping on his party than actually trying to get her to help him despite thinking she’s his assistant. Not only that but his ego means only HE can kill scrooge .. so why would he want one of his other eneimies help? Ma , after the boys caputre him figures it out right away, but before we get to that answer let’s talk about Ma. Ma Beagle.. is awesome here.. a criminal matriach whose hialriously dickish to her sons, clever, pragmatic and of course voiced by the always incredbile and perfectly cast Character Actress Margo Martendale, in between heists of course. The only shame of her character.. is that she ended up sidelined: her sons showed up more because their easier to use as disposable antagonists, she’s too clever for that, and unlike Glomgold, go got this full arc that concludes here, Beaks, who became Fenton’s arch enemy and got apperances outside of that being easier to squeeze in, and Magica who got an arc AND an arch enemy slot with Lena, Ma never really GOT any major focus or depth. Even when we get her backstory we find out she was always a convincing controlling beast of a woman. She’s not a BAD character but with the show’s changed priorites her and her sons just didn’t fit into the world Frank created as well and thus juts kinda faded and it’s a shame.

Anyway Ma has Glomgold figured out: She knows the bet is in it’s last 12 or so hours, and thus Glomgold is desperate to win, and has no real stake in it We then get a moment that’ shonestly.. shocking on rewatch because i’d forgot about it and it’s shockingly out of character, not the poorly written kind the “oh crap this is really serious” kind” Glomgold.. let’s his ego and his walls down and is EMOTIONALLY HONEST. He admits he CAN’T beat scrooge, something you’d think would be impossible for him to grasp.. but he’s tried everything. Done everything he can.. but just. Can’t swin.

But cleverly he’s figured out part of why> I mean obviously he hasn’t figured out it’s his lack of planning or own stupidity, thisi sn’t a miracle ephininy. But he has figured out he can’t do this alone, even though he is strong, he needs something more to him, something that’s the key to victory 

That key.. is family Scrooge’s family gives him one of the greatest temas ever assembled when you think about it: The Greatest Adventurer of all time, an ace pilot whose also skilled at hand to hand, thinking on the fly and mechanics, a master sailor, scrapper and dad, ANOTHER ace pilot whose the king of the himbos, nigh unkillable and very good at punches, a former spymaster with decades of experince and combat skills only rivaled by scrooge herself, her daughter whose also the secret daughter of the world’s greatest adventuerer and a burgoning master in all martial arts and history, the brightest young mind of a generation, an instinctive scrapper who would later outwrestle a god, a master manipulator and conman at only 11,  the world’s smartest man, and a ghost. And that’s just the major cast, the extended “family” includes an awkward latino genius piloting the most powerful weapon known to duckkind, a gay emo sorceress, her magically genius sister, the luckiest man alive, a suprisnigly briliant and unsuprisingly nuts oceanographer, and an apocalyptic god whose also a horse. 

While Glomgold DOES mostly fail because.. he’s glomgold, it’s undeniable he has a point: sure one man CAN fight a cool family team.. but it take sa HELL of a man. Doctor Doom is only able to take on the fantastic four , the world’s second greatest family and all with the power of gods, because he’s the world’s second smartest man, has an entire countries worth of resources and thinks 80 steps ahead when he’s not writtne by a moron who thinks “kill everyone because one of these guys slept with my fiance and surely this won’t ge tthe world to declare war on me for obviously having done something this stupid that could easily be found out”. Syndrome took on the incredibles because again, incredibly smart, rich and ful lof resources, only loosing because of his own ego. 

Glomgold has the resource part.. but he’s dumber than a sack of hammers once owned by Pauly Shore. He has the money and sheer tenacity of these dudes but not the actual competence and he’s not like the juggernaught, where he’s phsycially powerful enough for that not to matter. And even Cain would question how sharks are supposed to rob a casino then throw it on top of scrooge using an active volcano the sharks would also move due to using time travel. 

But as we’ve seen while ass incompitent a stopped clock can be right twice a day.. and Glomgold is right here.  Villian teams exist for a reason: one bad guy can do a lot of damage, but usually only the most powerful can take on an entire team. But together? knowing al ltheir various eneimes weaknesses their a true nightmare. Lex Luthor nearly destoryed the unvierse with th elegion of doom then saved it when that whole thing backfired for reasons I don’t know I didn’t read Scott Snyder’s Justice League Run. The Masters of Evil beat the avengers incredibly badly and only lost because the avengers were lucky enough to get some reinforments in the form of Thor and Ant-Man. The Sinister Six have nearly taken over the world TWICE.  A good villian team can break worlds. 

And as you can tell I like one of those and the idea of gathering all the biggest villians in the series wa sa great one. Granted I prefer ones more like the suicide squad, the secret six and the thunderbolts that are smaller villians trying to eithe redeem ehsmevles, forced to do the work, or trying to make a name but  this is still awesome. 

 So with a right hand woman and three hired goons/sons in place, we get our opening credits. And they.. are .. glorious...

I just.. this whole thing is fucking glomglorious. I’ve rewatched it about 10 times since then and probably watched it a good 10-20 times when the theme song takeover first went online. There’s just SO much good stuff from the various half asssed (inteitnoally the art to make the hallfassery look hilarous is still very good on the crew’s part) graphics, from the blueprint begining, to the chroma key nightmare over the scrooge stinks to the cardboard at the end, to the “fancy” cg.. there’s just about 80 diffrent things to love about this. The hot air balloon WHICH SHOWS UP LATER and the sparkly suit. And that’s not even getting into the lyrics, from the actually clever bits like “Cannae top my grand plan to beat that scots man” to it devolving into glomgold, like he does with everything, winging it as he goes.. i’ts just fucking beatufiul and one fo the series best gags and ONLY not the best because of the all I do is win funeral dance. But it’s an easy second and this is easily Keith’s finest comedic performance as the character. I really miss the dude and hope he gets more work soon. I also can’t help but miss flinty.. and everyone in this series really. “Sigh”. 

Anyways, onto the next member of the Legend of Glom, thank you Kev for that name: Mark Beaks. Mark is naturally running his own form of cryptocurrency because he’s natures perfect fuckboy. We naturally get a it’s in the cloud gag.  Beaks has no real intrest in it because he’s so up his own ass he can see the tumorous pile of dank memes that subsittues for his brain. Ma balks at needing him, valid, but Glomgold does point out they need a “gyro” so Ma helps by manipulating him, playing on Beaks ego by saying they don’t REALLY need him, thus maknig him WNAT to join. 

Next up is our old pal Don Karnage, showing up for the only time this season. It’s alwas a pleasure to see Jamie Camil again and i’m glad he’s voice acting quite a bit after this and star vs. He’s always a pleasure. Also I love the fact the Glom Air Balloon is real and it makes me think he has a Glomcopter and Hidenglom too. Anyway, Glomgold while having a good idea in legion of dooming it, still can’t hence immitating scrooge as you can see with Don on the roster because pilot. He is a valid counter though and Don IS more than happy to join.. granted he thinks this is all about DEWEY but no one here cares about a grown man wanting to murder a child so he’s all Don’s. This SEEMINGLY completes it: Glomgold naturally counters scrooge, in theory, Ma is smart ands scrappy enough to counter the more refined and just as badass beakley, the boys are larger and stronger than the triplets, Beaks has shown he can hack gyro’s tech before so he’s the natural choice for him and Don is also a himbo pilot. Not only that but while Glomgold HORRIBLY undereistamted the kids he STILL somehow managed to fall backwards into perfect counterpoitns for them: Beaks is a technical genius who Huey has a personal grudge with while being a grifter just like louie.l , and Don is a theatircal instincual badass moron like Dewey. 

This being flinty he did miss something by having his thumb over the photo: Webby. And while he balks at it because again, it’s implied he dosen’t see the children as real threats because well. .he’s stupid and underestimates everyone up to and including scrooge, Ma ISN’T so stupid as Webby has kicked her ass before. Ma KNOWS Webby is just as dangerous as the adults in single combat and while she dosen’t admit it out right, it’s clear she knows she’d loose again even in an unfair fight as Webby has foiled her THREE TIMES now. Unlike Glomgold , Ma knows when to quit. 

But just like the boys, Webby DOES have a natural arch enemy and counterpoint, a wild card badass. It’s just Glomgold wants nothing to do with her for understandable and unsurprisingly petty reasons: Magica. DeSpell. Flinty is naturally sore everyone considers HER Scrooge’s greatest enemy and not him... even though you know she’s actually gotten a few vicotries and even her latest loss still involved her besting scrooge, killing her niece and unleashing a horrifying shadow army. I mean sure that plan backfired in the long run: Clan McDuck was firmly reunited by the experience, whlie she struck Lena down, the teen ebcame more powerful than magica could ever imagine, and the whole mess gave Violet her origin story, not only giving lena a home and sister but Clan McDuck one of their most resourceful and powerful allies.  But credit where it’s due Magica still nearly won AGAIN after this and, while accidently making Lena stronger than ever in the process, would eventualyl get her full power back and end the series turning it’s biggest threat into her harmles familiar. Glomgold would end it hitching a ride with her after ruining his reputation again. 

Magica isn’t QUITE back in the game yet though as post gaslighting, see my Lena retrospective for alla that, she’s working at Funzo’s. Everyone’s outfits are amazing though why Flinty thoguht Beaks needed to be disgusied as a child to get in I have no idea. Adults seem to be fine just fine hanging around Funzo’s party or no. Anyway Flinty TRIES to weasel out of it by whispering to her.. only for Magica to overhear them talking after and is naturally in.. after getting chewed out by her boss for swearing vengance on children again. Also as a reminder.. her boss is her arch enemy the phantom blot, who while using this job to keep an eye on her is probably REALLY enjoying making the monster who massacred his entire family miserable. As a former minimum wage employee myself, i’d normally not side with managment.. but it’s Magica and again, she did a genoicde on a whole villiage. This si the one time in fiction I can side witht he douchey manager over the employee.

So with that Glomgold’s legion is formed, gets a badass montage as they prep and lands in the Iron Vulture, utterly decimating the defenses in front of a horrified Louie. Gee Della it’s almost like you shoudl’ve stayed because the manor gets attacked every so often and even with Duckworth he might not be enough.. as evidenced by the fact Magica takes him out in seconds with a ghost banishing amulet. LIke I get she coudln’t of predicted a legion of doom, the whole point of one when done right is to catch your foe off guard and thus use suprise as part of your arsenal, throw them off ballance by suddenly being confronted with all their foes at once. But their foes attack the mansion on a daily basis clearly, and said mansion , while a fortress isn’t impreginible. There’s an entire sublevel of dangerous shit, and an entire garage. If Louie DID somehow beat dt87, which he would’ve had time to had this attack not happened, and unleash some horror duckworth couldn’t stop and he coudln’t think his way out of. .he’d be dead and it’d be your fault. I just.. gahhhh.

So Glomgold makes his grand decleration.. only for Louie to point out that no one else is home... which pisses off the rest of the Legion of Glom who quickly realize as usual Glomgold didn’t even have 12% of a plan. Which fair on Beaks, the Beagle Brothers and Don. The former four are as short sighted as Glomgold and the latter one is both that and hasn’t even met the guy before today. But Ma and Magica CLEARLY know him well, and thus have no excuse for not asking followup questions. Louie however, actually DOES have a plan he’s willing to share.. provided he’s let in. 

So we get our climax. At the finale tally thing for the contest, everyone is waiting and Owlson can BARELY hold back her excitement at getting to work with an actual adult. I feel so effing bda for her knowing what’s coming and knowing that after a YEAR of putting up with a manchild, she’s about to have that hope yanked away. Like that poor fucking woman my dudes. 

Anyway the Legion of Glom arrive and we get a cool parallel shot.. and of course Scrooge assuming this is Magica (Which Flinty gives the great reply to of “I’M STANDING IN FRONT!”). The enusing fight is awesome with both sides holding their own and naturally for this show a few great gags as Dewey runs from Don (”Is it my fault I stole the spotlight from you?”)

 Beaks just taking a fetal position from Launchpad as “I was supposed to fight Gyro” and Magica and Flinty arguging over who gets to kill scrooge. This cool as hell fight that was promoted in the season 2b trailer for damn good reason (including a sneaky reedit of magica to be green to hide the twist from nightmare on kilmotor hill, tha’ts th ekind of trailer lying I can get behind), Louie descends.. and reveals he’s on the bad guys team. And again Della being there with him WOUDLN’T of stopped this, he coudl’ve just told her but again nope we got this instead. 

Louie actually does the impossible and gets Glomgold the win, as he simply has al lthe villians pool their resources... which makes sense. Alone they all have PLENTY from blue collar crime, white collar crime, dark magic stuff, plundering and what have you, if not enough to compare to scrooge> Together.. they easily top him and win..... and just... Zan’s face when she realizes Glomgold somehow won...

That... poor woman needs ALL the therapy. 

Naturally though it’s not THAT easy. Cue up your faviorite jojo, theme , last suprise whatever fits, because Louie pulls one hell of a gambit here that despite his actions I can’t help but bask in the brilliance of: Naturally this was all a long con and in an utterly awesome move I didn’t see coming when I first watched the episode the show actually uses the whole Duke Balloney reveal as a huge chekovs gun, thus making Louie’s presence there suddenly VITAL: Glomgold signed the papers making hi mand Louie buisnesss parnters with his current name. But being Glomgold he never LEGALLY changed it. Flintheart Glomgold is a fake name, making the documents invalid.. and thus making LOUIE the winner of the contest. 

The vilians are rightfully pissed, not helped by the fact that seconds before Louie revealed his gambit, Glomgold naturally planned to take it all for himself. Instead he gets angrily chased into the seas as the Villians have now lost EVERYTHING, Louie is richest duck in the world and Glomgold is defeated and hated. For now.. but that’s for later. 

To wrap things up we do get a touching, if unearned scene of Louie being vunerable with his mom, admitting he NEEDS to be able to scheme and gambit.. but he’ll try to be better about it and Della agreeing to catch him when he falls nad be there for him. There’s just one wrinkle though.... Louie needs to sign back the companies.. but he’ll do that right? Louie? Louie? Lou...

Final Thoughts: 

This episode is a mixed bag. As i’ve gone into enough so I shan’t go into again, the Louie and Della plot blows raspberries. But the Legion of Glom stuf fis fun as hell, the final fight is great and the final reveal is utterly awesome, showing Louie HAS learned at least how to scheme better and providing him the perfect target for it: Louie wins against a person who like him has a tendency to go with the first draft o fa plan and not think.. by finally THINKING through his plan entirely.  While I admit Louie’s growth a saa person is pretty non existant till the next episode, his growth as a maginficen tbastard is subtle.. but there the whole way.  He starts out with a decent but finite scheme he squanders and being too lazy to work.. and then slowly grows over his next episode, outwitting his arch enemy and doing something good befor efinally cresncdoing here with Louie using his powers smartly, patiently and in a way that not only saves his family but makes him the richest duck in the world. I have my issues with this arc... but I can’t deny it has it’s moments. I’ll get more into the arc itself next time.

For now though, we’ve reached the end of Flinty’s arc. So how was it? 

The Flintheart arc has some REALLY good stuff to it: Zan Owlson is the foil Flinty truly needed, Keith gets to ham it up to perfection, and the arc does show, outside of raiders, the Flinty is pretty competent if still held back by his stupidity.  We get some of the best moments in the ENTIRE series from GlomTales, to All I Do is Win, to Glomgold’s backstory, to the big legion of doom brawl to “I’m going to dry off by the fire”. So it’s not bad or a waste of my time and I was happy to revisit it. 

I’ts real problemn is that i’ts one of THREE arcs this season and as the most superflous it’s given the least improtance. Della’s arc is important because... duh, and Louie’s is because it’s his season in the limelight and does give him some depth. Glomgold’s.. is there entirely to fool the audience about who the big bad is till Lunaris gets there. That’s it. IT’s fun as hell, gives us a great new character and the further payoff in the finale IS great.. but overall the arc is just kind of there. There’s no real stakes because the only way Flinty ALMOST won was by a last minute scheme, the only way anyone thought he might possibly MAYBE win. Every episode in the arc, which is too short on top of all this, has him loose hard. I love the guy, he’s my faviorite character in the show closely tied with Huey... but he’s just not a credible threat. It’d be like if Captain Boomberang somehow turned out to be the big bad of suicide squad.. I mean he could I have’nt seen it at the time of this writing, and I do love me some Boomerbutt but Digger just isn’t compitent enough to pull that off and neither is glomgold. By the way Captain Boomerang was the flintheart glomgold of the dc unvierse and the 1980s. Point is the arc isn’t BAD but ti is dispaointing and despite hyping Glomgold up as a big threat.. he’s ultimately only the appitizer and I wish he could’ve been more.. even if I get why not. 

Next Time: we’re almost done as Scrooge makes the mistake of letting Louie hold onto the fortune a while and nearly dooms earth and his nephew over it while Della faces some hard truths about her crush/roomate/best friend on an accidently hardhitting dewey dew night.

Deep-Dive on The Owl House S01E01: A Lying Witch and a Warden

Given that this is the second series premiere that I've done this sort of analysis for, it's hard not to compare the two. Between this episode and DuckTales's "Woo-oo", I feel that "A Lying Witch and a Warden" is ultimately the stronger start.

In terms of conveying ideas through dialogue, it's a bit more amateurish. There are a few instances of characters resorting to effectively staring into the camera and explaining who their character is or what the story's themes are. You can tell that Dana Terrace and Rachel Vine are still getting their sea legs for weaving a plot through these characters; the jokes consistently land but the storytelling is rough, leaving the episode feeling like an unpolished pilot.

But what really stands out to me is the messaging. "The Owl House" has things it wants to say and right off the bat, it's chomping at the bit to say them. This first episode isn't content with introducing the characters and story pieces that later episodes will use to discuss themes; it wants to start the conversation off right away. I can't help but appreciate that, especially given the subject matter.

So, let's dive in. Spoilers after the jump.

Who Is Luz Noceda?

The show's central theme of non-conformity makes its first appearance as soon as the story opens. Luz marches to the beat of her own drum and that's ultimately landed her in hot water in the principal's office.

It's worth noting that, as protagonists go, Luz isn't exactly unique. The outcast who's weird, quirky, and doesn't fit in is a pretty standard protagonist type. Do take a moment to celebrate having a gender-nonconforming bisexual Hispanic protagonist but representation aside, there are thousands of Luz Nocedas in the myriad realms of fiction.

And yet, few of them are treated in the same way. What stands out about Luz is that ultimately the show isn't concerned with delivering some platitude about being true to yourself. Luz is going to be true to herself regardless of what other people think. She doesn't know any other way to be.

The central statement isn't about what Luz should do to navigate a society that hates her. The central statement is that the society that hates her has broken values. Rather than passively and noncommittally supportive, it's confrontational. You want her to change because Luz expressing herself makes you uncomfortable? Well, she's not doing anything wrong, so why don't you change?

I'd be remiss not to mention that her book report results in kids (and the principal!) being attacked by venomous snakes, which does constitute doing something wrong. You can tell they're venomous because they don't try to coil after biting. There are two kinds of snake: venomous snakes and constrictors. Since Luz's snakes don't try to constrict nor do they retreat after biting as is typical of a defensive bite, they must be venomous.

This bit undermines the theme a little bit while setting the tone for the series. "The Owl House" is an upbeat, optimistic look at a darkly irreverent world. Much of Luz's comedic appeal comes from the juxtaposition between her light-hearted, cheery attitude and the world of pain and suffering around her, some of which she inadvertently contributes to. She's a generally happy child with big, over-the-top emotional responses navigating a whimsical world of violence and decay; a world that wants nothing more than to strip away her identity and make her conform to someone else's declarations of normalcy.

Luz Noceda, Warrior of Peace: Think INSIDE the Box!

This conformity comes initially in the form of Reality Check Summer Camp, the pamphlet for which is immediately horrifying. I don't know if the intent was to draw parallel to conversion therapy camps but it's difficult to not think of them from the moment the pamphlet is put onscreen.

Whether the parallel was intended or not, it's there and it highlights the horror of Luz's intended fate. Reality Check is an awful place that we, the audience, are meant to want Luz to escape from. It represents the death of who she is as a person, which ultimately motivates her to choose the Boiling Isles instead of going home and facing that terrible place.

This same episode features the Conformatorium, a prison in which citizens of the Boiling Isle are locked away for various social deviations. Reality Check is the Conformatorium of Luz's world; a punitive cage in which she can have her deviations scrubbed out of her.

The Boiling Isle is a dangerous place. It's no more accepting of non-conformity than the human world is, while having much more visible perils to avoid. But what it has over Luz's world is Eda Clawthorne, a kindred outcast to take Luz in and mentor her. Even if she is a bit rough around the edges.

And King! King is a treat.

Meeting Eda

When I say that the episode feels like an unpolished pilot, the sequence of events from meeting Eda to entering the titular Owl House are what stand out the most. The marketplace scene starts off well enough. It's pretty standard Isekai fare; Luz discovers the hard way that she's in a strange new world and reacts with shock and horror.

Eda's intro starts out strong. She makes a living by hawking wares that Owlbert swipes from trash cans in the human world. Luz manages to ingratiate herself to Eda by appraising her Shadowbox That Reflects Only Sadness to be a television. It's a strong moment that gives the audience a sense of why Eda, a woman not prone to fits of selflessness, might find practical use in taking Luz in before her inevitable emotional attachment to the kid kicks in.

It's a shame we'll never see it again (at least, not in regard to Eda; another character later introduced will be quite pleased with this particular skillset). What work Eda will have for Luz will instead be more manual and less reflective of her utility as a human world expert.

In a janky bit of writing, Eda climbs up on a table to proclaim her character and role within the story to the audience. This leads directly into a confrontation with a cop meant to establish that she's wanted by the law, but also that she's capable of handling herself. It feels terribly forced, but the cop part at least establishes an important plot point.

After which they return to The Owl House. Notably, Hooty expands his mouth to grant passage. This is another pilot thing that we'll never see again. Hooty isn't going anywhere but, moving forward, characters will come and go through the front door directly.

From there, the trio plans to recover King's crown from the Conformatorium. It's protected by a force field that only a human can pass through. Why does this loophole exist? Do all of the empire's force fields have this loophole? Could it, perhaps, be a hint that Emperor Belos himself is human? Who knows! We're not here to theory-craft. Maybe epic foreshadowing, maybe a gaping plot hole.

In terms of personality and character, I'll have more to say about Eda and King in later episodes. For this episode's purposes, the pair being weird and quirky like Luz is all that really matters. This episode's story is primarily focused on fleshing out Luz, its main character, and introducing what her thematic conflicts will be. Thus, what we get of Eda and King consists mostly of funny jokes and kinship with Luz. With one significant exception.

Warden Frollo Yearned to Purge the World of Weirdness

You can tell that this episode was written by women. And that, in fact, the showrunner herself is a woman. The reason you can tell that is because of Warden Wrath.

Warden Wrath immediately calls to mind Judge Claude Frollo from the Disney version of The Hunchback of Notre Dame, but there's a difference. The story of Esmerelda was told from a male perspective. Esmerelda had three suitors throughout the film: Phoebus, Quasimodo, and Frollo. The story moved based on how the feelings these three men had for Esmerelda motivated them to act.

Phoebus was the good suitor; the one she fell in love with. Frollo was the rejected suitor who handled her rejection with scorn and contempt. Quasimodo was the rejected suitor who could have become like Frollo and was briefly tempted to do so, but who ultimately respected his friendship with her enough to do the right thing and support her relationship with Phoebus.

Esmerelda's story wasn't about whether she wanted to be with Frollo. It was a given that she would ride off into the sunset with somebody in the end, and the plot boiled down to these three guys bickering over which of them it would be.

Warden Wrath doesn't have any competitor for Eda's hand. He is a brutal, violent, oppressive, domineering man. He steals a precious toy from King and uses it to bait Eda into a confrontation. In genius chessmaster style, he does so by stashing it behind a force field that only a human can pass through, giving Eda no way to take the bait until the universe conspires to drop a human into her lap.

This stroke of sheer dumb luck allows Wrath's plan to go off without a hitch. He decapitates Eda, then promptly asks her to date him. That's what this whole thing has been about: Eda is smokin' and Wrath wants to tap that. The one sympathetic moment he's given is a moment of his men encouraging him to go forward, indicating that he's been pining for Eda for quite some time and confiding in his men.

But while Wrath does get this funny bro moment, there is no point at which we are meant to want to see this Enemies-to-Lovers nonsense pan out. Wrath is a brutal, violent, oppressive, domineering man. He physically restrained Eda before making this appeal. This isn't a sweet romantic gesture; he led her into a trap, assaulted her, and is now demanding a relationship under penalty of further harm.

Wrath is Frollo written from a female perspective. Eda doesn't need to have another man she really likes in order for the story to work. Phoebus's existence is not what makes Frollo's appeal horrifying. Eda does not want to hook up with this guy. That doesn't need any further justifying; that's how consent works. However, even if it did, the violent way he tries to court her leaves little question as to why she wouldn't.

Wrath's romantic appeal is a subversion of expectations, but it doesn't change what this character represents. It simply reframes it in a different light. Wrath represents a system that would decide for Luz and Eda what kind of people they should be, how they should behave, and what roles they should fill.

Wrath, a figure of authority, has assigned Eda to the role of "girlfriend" and is demanding that she conform to it. It is exactly the same as what the Conformatorium is doing to fanfiction writers and gross eye-biters, which in turn is exactly the same as the Reality Check Summer Camp that Luz was meant to attend. It's all one big social system of control.

All in all, "A Lying Witch and a Warden" sets the stage for what this show will be. It's about women helping women. It's about letting people be themselves and live their best life, even if you don't understand that life. And it's about surviving in an oppressive world in which refusal to abide by the invasive, constricting rules of normalcy is brutally, sometimes even murderously punished.

List of Ducktales ‘17 Fics I Want To Do One Day

I’ve been getting inspiration to write fanfics and wanted to make a list here. 

List:

-Darkwing Duck Reboot: If either the reboot doesn’t happen or the show doesn’t follow the ‘17 continuity then I’ll write this fic. I have a few ideas but not enough to start storyboarding. It might be a collaboration fic if anyone wants to join.

-‘17 Negaverse: I’ve seen a lot of people make their own Negaverse for the DT reboot. There are a few ideas in my brain and want to make it a fictional reality.

-Morgana & Dickie in the ‘17 Universe: These will be separate fics. I’ve been developing these OCs for a while, and their backstories made me interested in writing.

-Justice Ducks: The Justice Ducks is one of my favorite parts about DWD and want to make my own version.

-DW & Gizmoduck Team-Up: Fenton and Drake’s two-sided relationship interests me and I want to write my take in it. It was such a bummer that they didn’t have their own special.

-‘17 Negaduck’s Return: The most disappointing part about DT ‘17 cancellation was Jim not returning. His final scene was amazing and gave me chills. Like the DWD reboot fic, I plan to write this if the reboot either doesn’t happen or doesn’t follow the ‘17 universe.

So uh-

Yeah this account has been dead for 2 years now?? Honestly I never expected to come back to this account but since Instagram is prioritizing rip-off tik-toks over images then I think it would be nice to reboot this old page even though none of my friends are active on Tumblr anymore.

I’ll go ahead and list some things that have changed while we’re here:

1. Eddsworld Bad

Yeah- accusations have been thrown at the current showrunners or people who are associated with Eddsworld, and because of that and how I used to behave in the fandom, I don’t feel comfortable associating myself with it.

I might do things like redraw old art or die redesigns of characters but that’s about it.

2. Ranting Also Bad

So as stated above I do not like how I acted in the Eddsworld fandom. On Amino I constantly called out kids for drawing Tom in a maid outfit or just really dumb stuff in general.

I think judging stuff that is just people having fun is so dumb. Like if you don’t like something, unless if it’s actual critique, then just keep it to yourself. Either that or if it’s something that is actually harmful (because guess what fiction does effect reality whether you like it or not).

Also callouts in general do a lot more harm than good. You really have to fully know what your covering and the result of what your doing to make a proper callout and even then unless if it’s something extremely serious I would advise against it since it brings more harm than good.

Also last note it’s funny how I judged kids for liking TomTord and for liking poorly written characters so much here I am in the year 2021 having a dumb tie brunette x arsonist white haired guy as my comfort ship and literally a character with some of the worst writing ever as a character I am currently having a hyperfixation on.

4. So Uh- Danganronpa Huh-

So around December of last year my friends on Amino started constantly talking about Danganronpa and saying names I legit could not understand. All I knew was that there was a purple haired guy people liked, the concept of students who were the top of their field in a killing/trial game, and that one of my friends like the white haired guy who was named Nagito and I didn’t understand shit about him and my other friend like some guy called Kazuichi.

So in February I said, “Look I know I have art to do but I’ll go ahead and watch the Game Grumps Playthrough of Danganronpa 1. It’s like gorey and stuff there’s no way I’ll get hyperfixated on it.” It’s been 5 months and every waking moment is spent on thinking of the stupid characters I like and I am drawing the V3 characters as I speak.

So yeah- I will 100% be focusing on Danganronpa content on this account moving forward since it’s my main interest right now. I won’t go into opinions on characters since that’s basically a death sentence, but pretty much everyone is just “Well there’s certain things I like about you and certain things I don’t like. The writing did you beyond dirty and I hope the fandom can create headcannons/fan works where they fix you up.” to me. Of course I have some I like more than others and some I dislike more than others, but basically that’s how I feel about everyone.

If you are wondering though, my favorites at this time are Hajime, Kaede, Rantaro, Nagito, Sonia, Kiibo, Chiaki, and Korekiyo. Kiyo being the character I am currently hyperfixated on (despite him not being my favorite that spot goes to Hajime).

Anyways so yeah- here I am. I am back. I’ll probably change my profile theme to either another Pokémon or something Danganronpa related. Prepare to see a bunch of reposts of Danganronpa content because ooooh boy the fan art makes me happy.
