Before DSMP even existed I was thinking about the concept of a visual novel in which you should firstly choose the pov of a character you want to play, with some plot points you will unlock new/secret pov's etc

I think this could work for DSMP too, and c!Dream's pov should be unlocked after getting everyone else's endings. Or after c!Tommy's ending.

yeah i think that kind of narrative structure would work super well for a dsmp visual novel. c!dream's pov getting unlocked at the very end is a great parallel for how cc!dream stopped streaming his own character's pov very early on in the timeline, so c!dream's true motives are quite literally made inaccessible - arguably until the very end of the story! i think the moment in the finale where tommy asks dream to take off his helmet is kinda the moment where c!dream's perspective (FINALLY) becomes "visible" to the audience again. when he's in limbo, tommy sees dream's memories from his own pov, literally rebuilding that bridge between the audience and cdream.

basically tldr c!dream cuts his own perspective off from the main storyline long before he delivers that monologue about cutting his attachments, and c!tommy's empathy is what eventually invites c!dream's pov back into the narrative. ngl i wrote a whole essay about this for the dsmp analysis tournament thing but then the event seemingly died??? rip c!discduo manifesto :'')

anyway i think a visual novel where c!dream's route is the final gameplay to unlock makes so much sense and would fucking rock, i'd play the hell outta that! i'm writing my own fangame rn actually though it's pretty different and probably will not be a VN, but it does definitely play around with perspective a bunch. perspective changes are kinda baked into dsmp canon so they can be one of the most fun elements to play around with in fanworks

Hey guys, my dash seems pretty distressed right now. I realise its upsetting to have Dream SMP content coming out and not feeling okay interacting with it like we used to. I know I would love to see what Tommy’s planned but I also know I wouldn’t feel comfortable watching it anymore. His other content is fine, but Dream SMP is far too associated with Dream. 

Still, a part of me is glad there is a finale as I hope it can conclude this arc and the Dream SMP can end for good. I know there’s talk of s2, but that may never come and I feel like it’d be a different thing entirely. 

I still don’t mind discussing older arcs and things. I do still love this community and that’s not about to change. Its why I still check over my dsmp fanfic reddit for instance.

And sometimes an interest or fandom can feel massive and irreplaceable, like there won’t be another bit of media to capture your interest. Until one day, you stumble on another. I’ve been into many things I never expected I’d be into. Right now its probably pokemon fangames. I’ve been obsessed with a lot of random series and I remember each one fondly. So take care guys. ❤️

I dont know if this is a touchy subject but what happened to the dsmp fangame?

Not touchy at all! (i honestly cant remember if i announced it here on tumblr)

I ended up abandoning the project (so sorry to all those that were looking forward to it!! I sort of fell out of love with what i was working on and the dsmp as a whole after techno passed (no shade to any of the creators, they're all gems). So it was a bit useless dragging it out.

My twitch chat did bring up the idea of me posting what I had done already. But it's not an idea i'm too fond of (i'd have to do extra work to make sure everyone can access everything i finished. Unfortunately i don't have time to actually do that.) Also I don't want an unfinished game out on the internet with my name if that makes sense.

(also also i've kept the youtube videos/streams I spent making of this up. I'm still proud of what i've created and still wanna be able to look back on it all.)

i’m gonna give it a shot! i actually started a fangame with a bunch of friends last year but it sadly fizzled out. this time though… perhaps…

i’ve always used gamemaker in the past (other than my brief stint into textadventures), so i’m intending to use that again! works easy enough for my brain. and then ive been sketching out sprites and backgrounds in procreate on my ipad :]
