Ice dyeing is a fun way to create colorful patterns on fiber using natural color. Freezing fresh or exhaust dyes into ice cubes welcomes a diffused watercolor palette. Adding a layer of dried dye flowers to the frozen mix will invite punches of vivid hues on top. The combination is a lovely way to create tie dye effects to your favorite textiles. Plus, with the help of some common household products, colors can be shifted to expand the rainbow of hues. This tutorial will show you how to ice dye with frozen exhaust dyes & dried flowers, shift color with pH modifiers as well as the resulting effect on cotton.

Stewed dried burdock (root) (cooking)
Tumblr media
In Europe and America, burdock leaves are used, but in Japan, the root is edible. Dried burdock is rare even in Japan, but it is soaked in water for about three hours to remove the scum. Season with water, soy sauce, and sugar in a pressure cooker, boil for 7 minutes, and cool. It had become very soft.

sometimes im like. yeah i was a pretty normal kid, kinda shy, bit nerdy.
then i remember i did shit like dress up as the Black Death for my fourth-grade medieval studies 'feast day' and try to convince the other children to eat the herbs and roots i had bought for my lil presentation on apothecaries.
they confiscated my scythe that i brought from home (for the lawn ofc) even though i swore it was dull.
baby me dressed as literally the Grim Reaper, sidewalk chalk on my face because i didn't have corpse paint. in the costume parade with everyone else
baby me, scaring hoes in primary school and tricking them into consuming my various plants and poisons. you can't make this shit up!

3 types of turnip dishes (cooking)
Tumblr media
In Japan, there are people who have the idea of “dietary nutrition(Shoku-Yo),” and believe that it is good for health to eat one ingredient without leaving any leftovers. So, I tried to make three dishes from turnips (Brassicaceae).
@Right: Turnip root dressed with vinegar and soy sauce
@Center: Turnip root skin kimpira (spicy stir-fried shredded vegetables)
@Left: Boiled turnip leaves (kelp, dried shiitake mushrooms, boiled in soy sauce with fried tofu)
I used all the roots, root skin, and leaves. Bon appétit !
