Spooktober 2023 Jam Project - Burdock

(logo by the ineffably cool IngThing) We're skidding closer to the finish line and coming in hot, so I'm very happy to share a quick peek at Burdock, the project I've been working on for this year's Spooktober Visual Novel Game Jam!

This is my very first time participating in a game jam, and I've had the joy of working with a phenomenal team of very talented individuals--two of whom also worked on Bright Oak, and two artists I've greatly admired from other projects!

Can you tell us about Magnesia? she feels a bit out of place

I will answer briefly, since I want to show and tell the full biography along with the concept art of the OC later.

So, Magnesia is the name of HIS dead sister. There were three of them in the family. The younger brother is Burdock, the middle child is Magnesia and the older brother is Juniper, that’s exactly what this guy’s name is)

Taken aback?) I know 😅

He is 30+ years old. He previously worked in a military detachment of a tank unit. Magnesia was the best popular ballroom dancer, she had no equal. Juniper often disappeared on missions and supported his brother and sister as their parents divorced and left the children in the care of their older brother. Magnesia often spent time with Burdock, giving him love for two. Burdock worked in a motorized rifle detachment, Magnesia made money by dancing on the big stage, but she was a strict, serious and very smart girl, she had self-defense skills...

But one day it didn’t help her.... Their hometown was attacked and Magnesia was killed in front of her brothers. Burdock went crazy, often asking where his sister was, alas, his psyche was broken..... Juniper decided that he would pretend to be sister if only Burdock was okay, Magnesia taught her brother a lot before her death, so Juniper was very similar to her. When Burdock is nearby he is Magnesia, when he is not nearby he is Juniper. SV knows this and does not interfere with Juniper’s affairs. The SV picked the guys by chance, but they remained at his base to work as mercenaries. That’s why I call Juniper by the name Magnesia. Enemies are also very afraid of Magnesia(Juniper)(I will tell you this more fully in his biography). Burdock does not know about the substitution because he is used to the fact that his older brother is often not around.

Magnesia is cautious and secretive, which is why he behaves so strangely, he is afraid to say too much, but he is very kind and sweet.

Somehow, Juniper (Magnesia) can be called genderfluid, but still he loves to address himself in the masculine gender and Burdock often uses the pronoun “he” in place of the pronoun “she” (sister).

But it’s better for him not to know that... I miss him... I was glad to be friends with my idol... It's a pity that everything turned out so bad....

(You got it right, previously in the alternate version these two were lovers, Magnesia was his idol. Don't be afraid, Seol knew about it and they had a threesome ^ ^~
