I kinda hate Dreamworks-stans (
No, not Dreamworks films persay, especially the ones I haven’t seen that everyone is so hyped that I do see (The Last Wish, Rise of the Guardians, Kung Fu Panda 2-3). It’s just...
The attitude -some- Dreamworks fans have about these franchises is a real turn off for me. They mostly say only good things about these movies but...they're kinda...snooty? I don’t want another Paranorman situation, is all. Before I go any further I will say, I definitely think Dreamworks films objectively look better than Disney’s modern movies-.Dreamworks’ artists are more at home with cgi where Disney’s fantasy films don’t look or feel right in that medium, compared to How to Train Your Dragon, that is. And yet...
I’ve really never liked Kung Fu Panda as a series. I disliked the first and didn’t feel anything for it all, so I've never watched the second even though everyone assures me it's better. Yeah. I'm sure it is. Part of this is all because of inner-fandom petty nonsense; baby-faced KFP stans were saying Skunk Fu! is a ripoff of KFP. Objectively YES, KFP is a better moviestory but what if I just straight up don't like it or feel obligated to like it ((this debate was always stupid regardless of what franchise was 'better' or 'worse' than the other. The idea of furries doing martial arts is a popular trope in animation cuz different styles or martial arts are even NAMED after animals sometimes.)). Either way, despite it looking cool and having a peacock as the main villain I have no desire to give KFP any attention kind of BECAUSE you all are so obsessed with it being "JUST SO GOOD".
But the thing that really irks me about Dreamworks fans is how obsessed they are with design and aesthitics >> character development and appeal.
While I liked How to Train Your Dragon a lot, I really didn’t like the second movie. That film had WAY too much going on in it. It was overstuffed and gave me a headache. It had no room to develop itself properly and sns I hate the character of Valka. I hate how she’s written to be this actually a loving mother to Hiccup and really loved Stoic deep down. To me, that cheapens her character and her son’s uniqueness for bonding with Toothless if it’s really just that his mom is just like him. I read somewhere that she was actually supposed to be a distant, kind of “wild” character who was more interested in dragons and didn’t feel that natural maternal instinct because not all women are motherly and that’s fine, and now with Stoic changed (and then dead) and Hiccup needing her she’s got to face her past and connect her dragonrider side with her family. No idea if any of that's true but WOW. I would have like that way more. But instead- I found Valka really bland and kind of awfully written, just like the rest of her movie. Oh, but everyone just "LOVED" that movie because Stoic died or whatever. I didn’t feel anything for Stoic’s death despite me liking him in the first film. I thought the second movie was a good story in theory, BUT the execution was so bad I'm sorry. It all went by so fast and so clunk that I didn't actually feel anything for this shocking and dramatic character from the first film at the hand of his son's hypnotized dragon. Believe me, I GET where people are coming from about this scene. Again I get what the emotions were supposed to be. I’m saying I found the storytelling and pacing horrid and it, by virtue, ruined the character(s). Just to add salt in my wound, everyone and their mom seems to love Valka cuz she doesn’t have same-face syndrome like the modern Disney women all have. Again, objectively Dreamworks has a better eye for style. BUT YA KNOW WHAT? I really think some of you are way too locked into this “looks generic/basic pretty woman = bad character” philosophy which kinda makes me want to scream.
Sns Moana, Maribel and Elsa > characters than Valka and that girl from the Croods.
You don’t have to love or even like them or those movies, but I mean objectively I think they’re better written story-wise. To better explain it’s the same logic that badfaith reviewers apply to Illumination: people hate the characters for their made-to-be-appealing designs and grafted personalities as opposed to their actual shortcomings as characters in the writing. Same face syndrome, manic pixie dream protagonists and EVERY Disney movie being about a man and a woman going on a wacky three-day long adventure is annoying, but if the blowback from Wish is any kind of indication, people are not going to love it “no matter what” and Disney-adults aren't sheeple.
I’ll believe fans when they tell me How to Train your Dragon 3 is awful. Yeah, I don't doubt that. Bu,t can you all kindly eff off with the implication that everything wrong with that movie stems from how Toothless’s mate is a pretty girl whitedragon version of him? Can you all shut up about how the 'Light Fury' (stupid name) ruined your life?
I too hate the trope of “girl = lighter and pretty”, but of what I’ve read that’s not the problem with her, character wise. Frankly, given how some of you act, I’m not convinced you would have any of these hang ups about her had she been better designed and not just white-Toothless. From the way some of you sound, it kinda feels like if her design was actually good, you would be stanning her character even after her movie/character turned out to be bad. It's why I also don't trust ya'll when it comes to that Elsa-looking fox girl in the new KFP 4 movie and how 'bad' she looks. Yeah, she DOES look bad...but I don't know by what margin you're talking about.
In the end, where Disney adults are their own kind of hivemind of shallow - believe me, I know - I kinda hate the unself-awareness of Dreamworks fans. They remind me of that side character in Mean Girls who gets the main character to spy on the Plastics because she hates them. They’re their own kind of shallow and mean. I wish they would at least be aware of that.
Also, Jeffry Katzenberg is NOT your friend. He's an AI-advocate and it's his fault Disney made Pocahontas.

✨The Nomads Summary✨
•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
(Check last post for info)
Everything is the same for Branch backstory wise (brothers abandon him, dead grandma, fear of bergans, turning grey)
The difference is after the escape in the first movie Branch is isolated and shunned from his village, for being grey instead of staying and taking that treatment he just decides to up and leave. (I mean not much was there for him and the fear of being found by the bergans due to the pop trolls stupidity of not being quiet and careful.)
He travels through the woods for a while until. He is found by another predator to the trolls (I don’t have a name for them yet) they are basically distant, distant cousins to the trolls. (They areaggressive due to carnivorous nature.) Branch is found!!!! After a bit of a struggle he’s finally caught by the creature. The only problem is it’s not killing him? Branch is afraid and begging to live. The creatures thoughts are sympathetic and just looking at the panicked, gray and malnourished troll makes the creature feel bad, so they take pity and decides to take the poor trolling in as their own. YAY!
After a few years living with this new species, they find more and more grey trolls. Most are just dulled and saturated versions to the point of being categorized as grey while others are full on grey but none are as dark as Branch in color. The species takes in these grey trolls and in exchange they help hunt for the tribe. (This is also when Branch finds out there are other types of trolls as there are many different grey trolls. )
The whole tribe at this point is becoming like first movie Branch.(uh oh) With his fear of being eaten and VERY preparedness to the point of being crazy~ (traps, survival skills, weapons you name it)
Eventually Branch climbs in ranks and becomes the new leader. Go Branch 😁. With him in charge the tribe sort of becomes branch times TEN…….. what could possibly go wrong?😑

An incomplete list of awards the She-Ra and the Princesses of Power was nominated for or won…
Don't mind me, I'm doing an experiment to see if I can archive old Dreamworks She-Ra posts on Tumblr in case the Twitter account goes inactive and everything is deleted…

With Indie Animation Day just having passed and a really meh-looking Megamind sequel on the horizon, I'd like to gently remind people of the power of ignorance.
(TL;DR in blue) Your attention is valuable. Like it or not, your attention alone is worth money. When you give a show or project your attention, you are supporting it. So if you're as disgruntled as I am knowing another amazing movie's timeline is about to be tarnished with a lazy sequel, please for the love of god, ignore it.
"Don't feed the troll" "They just want attention, ignore them." these are tales as old as time... But what we're dealing with in entertainment and animation today is much more insidious than attention-seeking randos online. We're dealing with attention-seeking multi-billion dollar companies.
We are living in the age of soulless nostalgia-bait and purposefully-infuriating content. They are putting this content out because it is MAKING THEM MONEY, and it is making them money because we are giving them attention! The most POWERFUL WEAPON you have to wield against them right now is your ignorance.
I know it's infuriating. I know. But the fact is: Just like a troll, every interaction you give this media feeds it, good or bad. Especially bad.
Talking about this movie is spreading the word for them. Posting about them gives them free advertising. Watching people review and dunk on them will push more people to review and talk about it. Even if you go online and say, "I hate this movie, it's gonna suck." that is STILL advertising for them!
Hate-watching is worth the same amount of money as love-watching. Remember what hate-watching did for projects like Velma?
Tumblr media
Don't let this new Megamind sequel or any dead-horse-beating project succeed financially just because we were too angry to stop talking about it. DON'T reward them for their half-assed cash-grabs with your ire. They don't deserve your fury.
I beg of you, don't hate-watch it when it comes out. Don't post about them. Don't take to Twitter and Tumblr flooding the #notmymegamind tag. Don't do their dirty work for them. Don't allow them rent-free space on your page or in your mind. Don't give this project the time of day. Ignore it. There is power in your ignorance, just as there is in your attention.
Give your attention to one of these independent animators instead. The media giants don't need it.
If we can all band together and ignore the media we don't like, they will no longer be profitable or a safe investment and they will eventually stop. But we have to agree to ignore it together.

Some She-Ra anti replied to a Youtube comment i made 3 YEARS AGO. They went on a rant about how SPOP and its creator are "problematic" and that i shouldn't support it and instead watch TOH.
Bruh. Disney donated 2 million to Israel. Are we still debating over which kids cartoon is more morally superior to watch in 2024??
And it's not like Dreamworks is off the hook either. Comcast is an absolute evil conglomerate like Disney. That's why valuing art on some imaginary political correctness instead of anything of actual substance feels pointless to me.

First Trolls Tumblr Post!!!
not sure if this point has been made but…
Suddenly had a trolls brainwave
During tbt end credits scene when poppy and branch sang ‘no matter where you’re from, the apple don’t fall far from it’ is indirectly hinting a broppy baby. Actually hoping so tbh.
And also the line ‘it runs in the family.’ Maybe the branch and poppy family trees will finally be connected in a fourth movie…
Let this ship go places 😃
Might someday go on a rant about all the broppy scenes and analyse the song lyrics ;)

Obligatory salty about HTTYD 3 mood that happens to me every once in a while. But I do honestly find it extremely funny that everything HTTYD that has come out after THW (minus maybe the christmas special) either seems to ignore THW's existence or blatantly go against it, like:
- That other christmas thing where Toothless and his abomination babies are just chilling in Hiccup's house
- The Nine Realms, which has been actively going against THW's ending since the beginning and only getting more and more brazen about it.
- HTTYD Journey which appears to take place before, during or after HTTYD 2
- Universal theme park's upcoming Isle Of Berk section. Which granted, we only have a few concept images of, but no obvious references to HTTYD 3 yet (no sign of the light fury or any HTTYD 3 dragons)
Like hmmm gee.. it's almost as if Dreamworks knows the only way to keep milking the cash cow is to go "Actually we take it back we know that you wanna see this guy and his dragon hang out and not be separated forever." And it's so funny like... my brothers in christ you made the third movie.

Sometimes I do wonder if as an adult I've become too jaded with my entertainment. I think that I can't enjoy newer products cause I expect too much and idealise the films I adored in my childhood and teenhood. And since I'm not the target audience anymore I shouldn't complain or judge so harshly.
But then I go to rewatch those and I find myself still getting swept away by them. They are amazing! They hold on! It's not just nostalgia. They were just that good!
Anyway this post is about Kung Fu Panda 4 and how it sucked major ass and how the OG trilogy and especially part 2 are still masterpieces and I'm not biased.
Hearing about wasted potential artists had in mind and how it got changed for this stale bullshit is so frustrating at this point! Producers please stop fucking up good shit with your greedy little soulless gremlin hands. You don't know jack shit!
Also Puss in Boots 2 is a modern masterpiece so it has nothing to do with my current taste either. Mid shit just sucks and DreamWorks has no excuse.

Nomads AU! That what if before timeline I mentioned a while back on a poll! Part 1
The story goes the same in band together (John comes in they get Bruce then get Clay) just without branch being there. There was a lot of worry and concern going on about Branch’s whereabouts, but eh they’ll deal with it later. Anyways they just got Clay and now THEY HAD TO FIND BITTY B!…wherever he might be. So they try and find anyway to locate Branch, but after searching through old memorabilia they do find his old glasses and basically try the same method they did with Clay (look it worked so might as well keep using it) so Rhonda got a faint trail of Branch (almost nonexistent) and after some hustling they end up in some very overgrown woods. They sorta just wander around looking and shouting for Bitty B/Branch. The hunt goes on for a while till…
THEY WERE CAUGHT!!! Rhonda basically got led into a trap with some tasty berries and immediately got caught. Soon the brothers and Poppy plus Tiny left Rhonda to figure out what happened, when all of a sudden…they were surrounded by cloaked figures that circled them. All of them were different shapes and sizes but yet troll sized (weird right?) the gang was startled John and Clay got ready to fight (Clay definitely learned how to fight while living with the putt putt trolls) Bruce was making sure tiny was safe, while Poppy was….scrapbook a friendship card (she doesn’t take danger that serious…but she’ll learn, probably)
Soon the cloaked figures stopped once they realized… those were trolls?! Actual colorful trolls (they don’t see many colorful trolls anymore) soon some of the cloaked figures revealed themselves to the gang and….. they were grey trolls?! (When I tell you Poppy had a mini heart attack in that moment) I mean how could this be, a grey troll? Those are hard to come by, not to mention there were tons! Plus some really weird feral looking things were sorta eyeing the gang (the feral(trolls?) were totally going to eat them) then the grey trolls decided they should bring them to the leader. Yea at this point the gang was to flabbergasted by the fact there were grey trolls here! that they just kinda were too shocked to think right and just followed them. Poppy soon got out of her funk asking a bazillion questions and trying to “cheer” up the trolls (she was kinda insulting them but similar to how she was with 1st movie Branch) all the grey trolls ignored her.
So once they got to there leader’s bunker (yes Branch still has a bunker) they started trying to get him to come out to see the guests they had. But once Branch came out and saw HIS brothers just there standing in front of him he freaked out. At first he was shocked just frozen but once his brothers asked who HE WAS! That was when he freaked out, he screamed and shouted at them how they left him to fend for himself that he was alone and they had the audacity to FORGET HIM!! This was the moment every built up emotion hit the brothers. Standing in front of them was there baby brother, as a disheveled mess, leaves in a natty messed up puffball of a haircut, a face littered with scars and stress lines, not to mention he looked like he was going blind in an eye (they didn’t see much of his body but it would just make them feel worse with how many scars the poor troll had) none of them were even able to handle the fact that their baby brother was…. Grey.
All the brothers were ready to break down they saw this troll who was nothing like the happy baby they left instead a sad grey troll. The brothers were going to be kicked out until John told Branch Floyd was in danger. Floyd may have still abandoned Branch, but Branch didn’t want his brother to die. So he agreed to go then a lot of time gets spent with him struggling to actually leave the village without the tribe with him (he’s very paranoid about what could happen) during this Poppy tries to “cheer” up the grey troll (which gives her a bad impression on branch as she acts very similar to 1st movie poppy) she then tries to throw a huge party to bring up the mood it does not go well (the scene is very similar to world tour with the country trolls) after Branch is ready to leave and officially annoyed by his brothers trying to cheer him up as they try to either have a very sad awkward conversation, or they treat him like a baby similar to how they treat him in the movie but it’s more awkward cause he is a complete stranger to the brothers and veeerrrrryyyy aggressive (he growls and hisses at them)
He struggled actually leaving the village but once he was assured by his brothers it was for Floyd he put his second in in command in charge and left it was sorta similar to the Poppy and Viva scene where she wouldn’t leave but if it worked.
(Poppy was very excited BITTY B was found and was getting on every one of branch’s nerves the brothers were conflicted to say the least)
I’m really sorry I’m making a part 2 because I have a lot to say but the next part will be about the bus ride to mount rageouse and saving Floyd.

Is anyone brave enough to watch negative videos about Trolls to tell me why they hate the franchise so much?? Because to this day I don't understand this "Trolls is an animated disaster" or "DreamWorks' worst franchise".
I refuse to watch videos like that because I prefer to be positive about the things I like. And even before I became a fan I couldn't understand why Trolls get so much hate!
