some stuff from the dragonhunters au i was working on a little while ago! i never got around to doing ref sheets for pony!toby or pony!claire, and my fixation on toa has diminished somewhat so idk if or when ill make more stuff for it, but heres what i have so far :P

here we have, in order:

some notes:

pony!jim's name is silver spring, toby's is butterscotch beryl, and claire's is violet night! silver and beryl's nicknames for each other are silv and bear <3 and violet cals beryl BB lmao

aaarrrgghh and blinky probably just keep their canon names because. idk it fits

headcanon (does it count as a headcanon if its MY au?) that aaarrrgghh has distant gargoyle ancestry, hence his scorpan-like mane and tiny wings

silver's special talent is probably either cooking-related, knife/swordplay related, or dragonhunter-specific. maybe he thinks its cooking and is confused about why he has no cutiemark, then gets his cutiemark when he finds the dragonhunter amulet? theres probably a lot of internal conflict to be had there, since thats just one more indisputable piece of evidence that being dragonhunter is the one thing silver is meant to do with his life.

beryl, on the other hand, got his cutiemark VERY early on in life. he likes rocks, man

i havent drawn her yet, but violet's special talent is probably either theater or shadow magic.

Old sketches from a couple years back of a Pantheon/Dragon AU I was playing with. Notes I found with it:

A prince is cursed with a disease and he’s treated as a dead man walking. The king goes so far as to have him buried alive but he escapes in his death shroud and becomes an exile waiting for inevitable death. But he gets adopted by Dark Nation (not sure if she’s a god herself or just a spirit animal here I don’t remember lol) and she’s the one who guides Rufus into becoming a god, transcending his own death. But the Stigma has grown so much by the time he becomes a god so he covers himself in a shroud and a mask—eventually worshipers come to call him the Deathless One, the god of vengeance and second chances.

Cloud(?)/Fenrir is the messenger of the gods

Aerith and the Goddess are the same—she’s the Dead God? gave her life to protect humanity and is worshiped as a life-giver even though she can no longer hear their prayers

“I have chased ghosts for so long that I no longer recognize the living.”

Jenova was the ancestress of the dragons and Sephiroth and the triplets are her descendants

Genesis and Angeal are dragonhunters, Lazard is the head of their order

pretty sure this was headed towards fem!Genesis and Sephiroth becoming Cloud’s parents? (since I apparently wanted him and his grandma to look similar: see pic below) And Cloud later being forced to kill his father’s reanimated dragon corpse?

Gen’s parents, General Skye Rhapsodos and his wife Ilmarin

SephGen in a shrine of the Goddess in Nibelheim (I wrote some of this scene and it ended up becoming a religious discussion between a devoted follower of the Goddess and a dragon in disguise that ended with Gen calling Seph a heretic not knowing he was the one to kill the Goddess lol)

Don’t mind the brain mush :) I’m tempted to actually write something for this au tho

because i think this au deserves one! this is in the timeframe of the wider world (hermit time works differently which is something for another post). uh also because I have no year numbering system, year 0 will be when the most mentioned events of apricity au start, everything is counted forwards or backwards from there.

I ramble about AU and yer can’t stop me

Here it is. The AU i’ve been drawing so much art for. I’ll probably nickname it “free fall AU” because it seems fancy and I can’t come up with anything better, also because I just remembered myself of both Hiccups horribly cool flying styles (they free fall alot). Okay, this AU:

• It’s basically like you have the movie and book mixed together. Really. Same universe.

• Book Hiccup actually comes from the side of the dragon hunters cause. I remembered the entire conflict with slavery of humans and dragons and thought that fits

• He actually just stayed in his tribe because he kept accidentally killing off dragons (he was, as a matter of fact that one problematic child that LOVED dragons but wasn’t as dumb to say this to adults who desperately try to kill them)

• This sadly also means that the relationship between him and his father was alot more shit shit I’m so sorry

• He not only got banished because of the Slavemark but also because he managed to free the biggest dragon ever caught ( Furious and now the dragonhunters are pissed).

• The dragonhunters are like, the entire Archipelago so that’s all the people except Fishlegs and a bit of Camicazi (the other part of her is pissed, too).

• We have two Berks we have many characters double

• That’s cause the two tribes where the Hiccups came from where once, a long long time ago one, then it split up because one part wanted to join the dragonhunters in the archipelago and the other are just like nah we’re fine. Many kids are nowadays still named back then popular names, so that’s why we have two Hiccups. Tradition is long-lasting.

• In one of the movies series they once talk about a lost language of the dragons, so that’s what the little guy speaks! • About the black star, it was something I hadn’t thought trough when I drew his armor (oopsie) because it doesn’t fit in my timeline I have now… the Hiccups meet after book ten and before movie two I guess. That would require Snotlout to die earlier (which I DON’T want to do) or to remove it. • The Hiccups meet eachother while raiding a hunter ship because Book Hiccup is a little gremlin warcriminal and does the shit he always wanted to do. That’s why the Elmo meme exists. He frees dragons and manages (again you little shit) to destroy the ships because his scaly ass friends set it on fire.

• Movie Hiccup comes back to Berk like “What do you have there” “A smoothie” and behind him lingering is this fucked up child staring at them

• Stoick is probably like Whose child is this we’re not keeping him

• they end up keeping him because of inside info of their biggest enemy and also out of pity

• Actually they just legit adopt him

• basically it’s the stuff I needed to see and I was “I’ll do it myself”

• Book Hiccup is at first extremely wary of “other Stoick” because he looks a bit like his own father and the name??? Uh, oh. • He is Google translator for the Movie Gang and the dragons

• Even if the Hiccups aren’t brothers by blood, they’re brothers just out of spite

• I think that because their similarities they feel very comfortable around eachother and Book Hiccup trusted him very quickly because he also was very nice to him

My finger hurts, hope you like my stupid ideas

God I’d already kill the entire Archipelago for them also platonic dynamics have me sobbing on the floor

i was looking at the habits of dragonhunters for this genshin au im playing around with...

...and alhaitham is obviously a dragonfly of some kind due to their extremely effective compound eyes and direct flight paths which i feel match his lore and teleport skill.

intially went with the dragonhunter for two reasons: they are solitary and their abdomen falls at the end, making a j-shape (and i love that for aesthetic and character reasons (alhaitham is usually hunched over)).

but then i learned of THIS picture

i cant go with any other species and now Kaveh has to be a ruby-throated hummingbird 😆😆😆

according to someone who talked to the photographer, he was able to seperate them (getting the dragonfly to stop biting was the hard part), and while the dragonhunter flew off immediately the hummingbird sat there all dazed for awhile lmfao.

the ruby-throated hummingbird is a great fit too imho because what i do know about hummingbirds seems to match kaveh's lore reallly well: crowd favorite, tiny humble nests, attracted to beauty, attracted to large gorgeous structures in precarious places (hummingbird feeders lololol).

alright, we’ve had some jokey kosara shots, now it’s time for an actual piece of lore. for those who don’t know, kosara severbone is my latest char(r), a revenant, and alt commander alongside @uselessidiotsquad‘s vissenta in an au divorced from both our canon worldstates.

i’m still working on the details and overall cohesion of kos’ lore, esp her being a revenant (maybe she was one before rytlock, even, in the same way nyra was a dragonhunter before braham was) but what stays is that she was born into blood, with a crapton of magic and in a society that’s traditionally weary of magic. bonus points for kos’ magical weirdness of having access to the mists and hearing heroes and legends of ages past. her eyes have been a milky white from an early age too, which made her.. not that popular in the fahrar. a lil problem that she solved by becoming a very good fighter.

(if this reminds you of liv’s story, that’s by design.)

eventually though, she joined the priory, as she wanted to actually make sense of what was happening in her head. kosara is a tried and true history nerd in that sense and has the academic privilege of actually having direct citations of people who died thousands of years ago in her favor.

kos strikes me as one of those commanders who don’t necessarily enjoy the role - that’s more of vissenta’s field. out of the two sisters, kosara is the calmer one and more likely to reach for words and diplomacy as opposed to actual violence despite being raised in blood legion. i don’t think she would’ve been able to handle the commander job without the support and presence of vissenta and i think that their sisterly love is very beautiful <3
